  • "To avoid confusion, we are considering removing ranks from the post-match scoreboard once testing is complete, as they will no longer be relevant to matchmaking. Ranks will remain visible only to you for bragging rights and a goal to work towards, but will be a reflection of your dedication to the game rather than skill for the time being."

Seems possible. I really hope they do, because let's face it. They're useless at this point.

  • I'm not amazing at survivor, but here's a few tips.

Don't always run the second you see the killer. Try sneak around obstacles or hide in a locker. If you run even slightly, they'll see scratches and work out where you went.

Use pallets sparingly. This is a must since you will find them life savers (When they work). Try to loop a killer around a pallet area as much as you feel safe to do, then drop the pallet either on them, or as they come close.

Killers will gain 'Bloodlust' as they continue a chase with you, boosting their speed. This goes to Bloodlust 3, which is max speed and easy to catch you. To snap them out of this, you need to escape, usually by losing line of sight for a couple of seconds, or escaping away from them. You'll know when it happens by the 'Escaped' points tally at the side.

Unhooking. Don't always go rushing in for a unhook. Many killers will patrol the area hoping someone will rush in. If you're on a Gen, continue the Gen as long as possible. If you are going for a unhook, watch the area around you. If it's a regular killer, you'll see them coming, but if it's a stealth (Ghostface, Myers) they will sneak up on you.

Totems will help you a lot! If you see a Totem (Skulls) destroy it! If you see a lit one, be wary of it. Usually this is Ruin or Devour Hope, but it could also be a Hex that causes Exposed (Instant Down on hit). Try destroy totems as you find them when possible, as a killer could have NOED which only activates when the Gates are powered. This is a instant down hit on anyone.

Hope this helps you out. I'm sure there are better survivors that could give more advice, but good luck on your trials!

  • I'm sorry, but can you blame killers at this point? Do you really think they like doing this to survivors? Blame the Devs, not the killers. I myself have resorted to this crap just to even earn a single kill. Ruin being nerfed has really made it pretty much near impossible for many killers to even keep pressure on. Matchmaking lets Red ranks just bulldoze through low rank killers. Have you even attempted to play killer recently? If not, I'd suggest you do before you make these assumptions of killers. Then you will see just how bad it is for us!

All that they mentioned was they are aware we want map changes. They didn’t go any further to explain what they are changing. It feels almost as if they’re ignoring it, but that’s just my take. I couldn’t find any discussions about maps with dev comments on them.

Honestly, that's my take on it too. I don't want to start saying the Devs are more survivor sided, but what evidence are they showing to us that they're not? All we keep getting from them is a 'soon' or 'Later date', but in my opinion, this isn't good enough. They clearly know the issues are here, but still choose to drag their feet about it all. I wonder what's going to make them realise? When all the killers leave the game? When survivors get nothing but 100% escape rates? Makes you wonder.

  • Well, when it first came out, I thought it was a decent change. Going against it toward the end of a match made it tough to handle when the killer applied enough pressure, but, that opinion is changing fast. The Hex totem is still cleansed pretty much instantly on high rank matches, and this leaves killers screwed over. I've had more escapes than ever because of this change, since before, there was at least a little pressure. Now, it's forcing killers to resort to camping and tunneling to to try even get a win. And honestly, I've had to resort to this myself as killer, and I despise myself for it. But, the Devs have pretty much forced the hand of killers to do this, and I don't blame them anymore. I just hope the Devs see the damage this is causing overall to the killers.

speaking of moris, next time someone tries to salt you in post match chat, just tell them next time you see them in a lobby youre bringing a mori for them. makes then leave everytime.

Haha, I'll be sure to use this one in the future!

  • @Lunar_the_Legion said:

    i dont believe you lol

i dont believe anyone is so stupid as to tell you such a thing

You'd be surprised. A lot of Survivor mains have their extremely sensitive egos hurt when they get killed, more so with a mori. Us killers should know better than to kill! We're not allowed these days!

  • @TheLegendDyl4n1 said:

very, considering it always looks like a Christmas tree with all the different pretty colors!

Can we swap trees? Mine just stays Red! I'd prefer a rainbow tree 😁

  • Distressing, combined with Calm Add-ons, along with Thrilling Tremors and Ruin. Knock a survivor down, Static Blast, then thanks to the huge TR you will have, it will knock all survivors off Gens in a large radious, then quickly pick the Survivor up and boom. Regressing Gens are now locked. It's a cheese build for sure, but it can prove effective.

Another is Distressing, combined with Iridescent King and Queen. Static Blast will cause a random Add-On effect, and a Static shock from survivor to survivor will add another. A good way to get multiple effects onto a survivor without shocking them, and has hilarious results, such as Survivors who think the TR is close and drop pallets randomly.

  • Trying to heal a survivor and accidently dropping the pallet beside us, leading to a very angry Hillbilly charging right at us.

  • Honestly, it baffles me why the Devs are point blank ignoring the pleas of both sides. We're literally begging them for a new objective to keep the game fresh, but they still deny us of it. It's like they really just want the game to die off. Yes, we can do Totems, but that's not really a objective in my eyes. I just wish I could see into the Devs minds where they think after 4 years, holding a button on a Generator is still amazing fun.

  • This is a pretty good idea. I usually run the same perks on every survivor and killer, more out of habit now since they're helpful for me, but I feel like I'm relying on them far too much. I'll give this idea a try. May prove to be a fun time!

Its not really about the year, you can still start DBD in 2020 and may like the Struggle-Mechanic. It is more about how long you are playing, sure it is really exciting to "fight for your live" in your first 50 hours. But afterwards, you are just annoyed.

Struggling on the Hook should be automatic. With a button to "Give Up". If they want to keep it for those people who actually enjoy it, they can make it an option, but I would highly prefer to not mash my Spacebar.

I hate the struggle factor. I'm on Xbox and it's tedious trying to keep mashing the A button repeatedly. I already have the struggle with early Arthritis, and it doesn't help needing to smash my controller into next week. Sure, I suppose I could just 'stop playing' but I really feel like they should just remove it. It wouldn't really change anything gameplay-wise beyond we can now just sit back and wait.

  • Basic answer: You cannot. Many survivor mains demand that killers essentially do nothing, otherwise they are toxic for even trying to harm them. As killers, we must take this abuse and sacrafice any possibility of fun so survivors may keep their ego.

  • I've questioned this myself honestly, since I see more SWF's lately bringing in their low rank friends. Also the fact that Survivors are just Red ranking within a few matches because of the simplicity of it. I swear the only low ranks left these days are the newbies that join their already maxed friends. But, that's just my opinion on it.

  • I watch DbD videos, to remind me of what I could be doing instead of playing Lobby Simulator 😂

It’s a problem, OP, and you’re not alone. I have a hard time getting to rank 9. I was there for a brief time before depipping.

Heres the deal: survivor is easy mode. Killer is hard mode. It takes no skill to rank up as a survivor. I should know. I am rank 6 as a solo survivor and I’m not that good at looping killers for very long.

If you get 4 good survivors that know all the cheap tactics, know how to loop, and take advantage of the broken game, SWF, large maps, totems spawning next to gens, it’s difficult to complete the killer’s objective.

Survivors have everything in their favor.

Matchmaking is not just the only problem.

    DBD is FUBAR right now.

Too true about the easy ranking. I always play solo, and I'm usually god awful in chases since I always panic run trying to find a vault or pallet, and I'm Rank 4 now. I shouldnt be rank 4 at all!

  • Hawkins 2nd floor hole. I just love when a survivor drops down to say hello. I imagine as they see me standing there waiting, they realise they just screwed themselves

  • I agree with you, regardless of illness or not. Some of these people are fully grown adults acting like children over a game. They seriously need to learn to just take a loss and move on. I can't understand the mentality of some people nowadays.

Unless you position the survivor wrong and you just see a wall or a box.

    True. Ruins my GF selfies

  • I'd love to see more variations of Mori deaths. Mori animations are amazing to watch, regardless wether you use it or are having it used on you. It's a breath of fresh air to a stale hook impalement death

  • When a random survivor explodes a gen then proceeds to marathon around the map in fear of nothingness leaving a nice trail for the killer

  • I think it's usually around every 2 weeks? Don't quote me on that though, I'm just going by Rift time remaining honestly.

  • @Clevite said:

Yes but all your references have rules within the game to promote fair and fun game play.

And I'd argue that camping and tunneling is not trying your best to win. It actually is limiting your growth as a killer and preventing one from learning how to track better and learn the skills to be a good killer.

Play how you want, I'm not arguing that. But let's not pretend that those strategies indeed involve low skill tactics.

I agree 100% with this. I despise tunneling. To me, it's just desperation to earn a easy win. I've never resorted to tunneling, and never will. If I do hit a unhooked survivor, I always let them get picked up. If they win because I choose not to play dirty, so be it. I still got points, they got points. I'm tired of this sentiment that killers must win all the time, despite the fact they get pretty much double the BP per match, so who really wins in DbD?

  • @Hoodied said:

    I get it alot too

    Infact, we get it commonly

Every 3 matches sometimes we will need to restart the game, then between these matches we have NAT errors in between, then you have the error that opens the blood web on the main menu

Pretty much this. I encounter it constantly on Xbox. After a while, I have to restart the game just to stop it popping up on me every single post-game match

  • @Anara said:

It's not about learning, it's sad to say that but when I'm tunneling I win pretty easy. And I have no mercy for toxic survivors.

But it is about learning. You stated in your OP you began in 2020. So, under a month of playing killer for the first time. And what? You expected to be amazing because you main survivor? Tunneling is of course a easy win. You literally move 5 feet from a hook to redown a survivor. Playing killer takes more than just hunting down a easy target. Try actually playing normally. Use mindgames, test builds, use killer powers to an advantage. Yes, matchmaking is an absolute joke, and there's no denying that many high ranks will plow you down, but you can still enjoy the game regardless.

  • I tried multiple times to boop Piggys snoot, but she didn't respond well. It ended with a drill to the face. I guess she's having some personal space issues lately 🤷‍♂️

  • @Cheers said:

The only killers I'm afraid of is four P3 50 claudettes with keys and flashlights.

Too relatable! This, or 4 Megs with Sprint Burst and Adrenaline... Ugh!

  • Ghostface, combined with Spies. Just waiting around the corner for that unsuspecting survivor and bam. Panic run into a wall. Good times 😀

  • It's more they do it to screw over the killer. If people DC, the killer pretty much loses a fair amount of chance to even earn a safety pip. I had a match just now as Doctor where 2 survivors quit the second they realised it was a Doctor, and I basically had to try farm 2 remaining survivors just to barely hit safety. I let them win, because these random DC's are getting ridiculous!

  • Yes, since when you see a survivor while stalking, you slow to a tip toe pace. That's when your add-ons will activate.

  • They mean there's no real way to stop people just messaging you, same as PS4. All we can do is turn off notifications for unknown messages from non-friends.

  • I'm torn on Billy. On one hand, he's a great killer to go against, but I feel that at the same time, too many people just abuse the chainsaw to get a easy win. I have so much respect for Billys and Bubbas who don't 100% rely on chainsawing everyone. I feel like maybe if there was a slight impact to billys chainsaw, such as a cooldown, he'd be a little better. This is just an opinion. Feel like saying this is going to have many Billy mains hunt me down!

  • Thank you for this. I usually just go into killer just hoping to at least get some decent BP so I can level up characters, and lately, I've been rushed to defeat pretty easily, but I don't mind overall. I got points, they got points, so we all win. As for the toxic ones, I let em get on with it. Heck, when I'm playing GF I t-bag with them at the oppisite side of a pallet just for the giggles. If I'm going to lose, at least I'm going to have fun doing it!

  • I'm hoping only once they fix the thing first since PS4 has had so many issues. Not to mention FPS on Xbox just tanking lately. I can't even play killer without the game deciding to stutter all over the place, regardless of map. I want a semi-working game before they release dedicated servers

    20.Legion trailer

Does it show what the killer does?

18.Do you think they take them seriously?

I'm sorry but how is it false advertising exactly? They showed the killer did they not? Just because they didn't show their power doesn't mean it was false advertising. This is like saying something like X advertisement lied because they didn't show it's actual use.

  • I wouldn't worry about what they have to say post-game. Play how you want. There's no written rule to say a killer can't do certain things. Just play how you want to play, and enjoy the game on your terms, not theirs. If they don't like it, well, too bad :)

  • It also doesn't help that a SWF team can carry a low rank when they go against a lower ranked killer and just bulldoze them into the ground.

  • I haven't attempted this, but it could be that because it's a lunge, the timing is a little different. My guess is the lunge literally has to touch you to count, where a basic attack would be pretty instant on a dodge. Maybe just try go for a basic attack instead of a lunge, may be easier to time it.

  • I like the Moris, and rarely ever see them in a match anymore. They're more entertaining to die to than just mashing a button praying the hook won't kill you. Some of the killer moris are brutal and way better to die to! Why can't people seriously just enjoy the game for what it is instead of constantly demanding it be made worse, to only lower the amount of people who already don't play killer?

  • I feel like it's not only pallets, but windows too. The amount of times I've been through a window, touching the ground and boom, grabbed. Or, the 1 second delay of actually vaulting the window in the first place. This is on Xbox btw, not sure if it's the same on other platforms

  • While I respect your opinion, I have to disagree. Ruin didn't stop killers from being able to get kills or win. It's the fact that it became such a crutch for a vast majority that they can't seem to function straight without it. Now don't get me wrong, I know how useful Ruin was, but it was usually gone within the first minute, so there's no real difference. The new Ruin is actually good if survivors don't purge it instantly. Killers just need to start using newer tactics instead of just praying 4 survivors will just happily stroll around for 2 minutes searching for a Totem.

I haven’t played Resident Evil since Code Veronica came out. I remember enjoying it, but I fell out of the horror genre since I’m a big chicken. If I were to get back into it, what Resident Evil game should I start with? Also, are they all third person? Even though I like playing killer in DbD, I’m not a fan of First Person viewpoint and in many games it gives me a headache or causes me to get dizzy.

Also, off topic, but I love your name.

Well Re4 was a classic, before the completely turned it around to become less horror and more action. RE5 wasn't awful, but it was certainly a step backward from the old classics. RE6 I'd say greatly avoid if you want a more horror experience. That game was just like a playable action film. RE7 returned to it's roots and became a FPS, and it nailed the terror aspect. RE2 Remaster was a return to greatness too. It went back to a over the shoulder style, but the horror aspect from RE2 returned, and it was amazing. So overall, I'd say 7 and RE2 Remaster are great choices for a good scare.

Ok, that is comforting to know. I didn’t know about the lawsuit, it’s just people referred to that Dev team negatively so I assumed they were bad. I’ll definitely play it now.

And yes, the DbD Devs need a fire light under their butts to make this game better for everyone. Right now they’re prioritizing New Survivors and the money they would spend on the game and cosmetics. Killers are left frustrated, especially with how crap Ranks and Matchmaking is.

I can see killer mains migrating to another game if things keep up. Not everyone wants a 5 minute match.

I agree. I used to main killer a lot, though I still switched between the two, I was more a Killer fan, but over the months of matchmaking issues or bugs, etc, I've switched to Survivor just to try have a little fun. Honestly, once Predator and RE:3 release, DbD will be reshelved until things change for the better

  • Pretty sure we all know by now. 100+ other posts also confirmed this, just to be certain

I read on here that the Devs for Friday the 13th are making that and that I should be weary of it. I’ll try it out when it’s on sale.

One of my all time favorite games was the original Devil May Cry. Makes me miss my childhood thinking about it. I’ll probably just buy all the DMC games on steam and play through them all.

Maybe try out MK 11. I do miss fighting games.

If the Devs of F13 are making the new Predator game, I wouldn't worry. F13 was a great game, but the whole lawsuit over ownership of the actual F13 rights screwed it royally. Theres also the new RE:3 DbD style game coming with RE:3's release too which I am psyched for. I really hope that both the new Predator and the RE:3 Add-On games are going to be serious competitors to DbD. Maybe that's what the devs finally need to really start taking the issues with the game seriously

Its not the map, ita playing as Doc. I can only Static Blast and Pop a few gens before my framerate is destroyed. And this is on PS4 Pro.

Best advice I can give is to not play Doc until they fix it, sadly.

I've played on that map with Doctor on regular Xbox and never had severe FPS drops. It's stuttered a little here and there, but never to the extent you guys are having.

Sorry to hear that. Personally bud I'd reckon you should take a break from the game. It's clearly taking a toll, and there's tons of fun other games out there. Now I don't know for sure if the game will get fixed, hell nobody does. But don't give up hope🤙

Oh I totally agree. I really need to take a good break from it, but I keep being drawn back to it weirdly. I guess I'm just a sucker for punishment 😂

Exactly, just hoping it gets fixed soon. I might avoid playing killer untill then. Or I'll tough it out, granted I'll get bullied but facing better players is the best way to learn right? Regardless I hope you find some fun in this game again

You'd think so, but I just get so bulldozed to the ground it's becoming a joke in itself. I'm not amazing by any standards, but I wouldn't say I'm bad either. I also just go into matches for fun, not the aim of 4 kills, and double pip, but lately, the teams of survivors I seem to get matched to are so win hungry it's not even fun. I don't mind when they win, heck, I'm happy for them, but I can't even have a chance to get points most games because within 3 minutes, all gens seem to just boom from nowhere. I used to love playing this game, but each patch seems to kill any fun I had. I'm praying that things change soon and the game can just be fun for both sides again
