If the game is balanced around SWF:
Solo survivors will feel forced to play in groups to escape and solo survivors in higher ranks will much likely have much more unbearable games. However, SWF games will become more enjoyable for killers.
If the game is balanced around solo:
Solo survivors are happier and far less people will feel forced to play in groups to escape. However, SWF will become a much stronger, unbalanced option that will show up in higher ranks, leading to more "boosted" players and making SWF games unbearable for killers.
Interested in seeing what people put.
(This is purely hypothetical of course. So no, you may not say "both")
As someone who hates the inherent advantages a SWF team bring vs a killer I'm not a fan of SWF
however
As someone who play survivor solo I hate having all my information spoon fed to me and the game holding my hand at every turn...

This is largely so the devs can get more info on which killers could use changes, not because of balance but because of how fun they are to play as.
Note: Killers listed are the ones I hear complains about the most.
Nurse
1: PS4 frame rate
2: Easy to dodge on console/hard to spin when someone dodges
3: Feels GREAT when you put the time and effort to become truly a terror! ......but don't play for 3 days and forget all the timings...
4: Constantly staring at the ground gets boring
5: Riddled with new and extremely old bugs...and somehow more crop up.
I could list more but I think this is enough.

I mean, what are the actual numbers for how many players there are?
- Queue times are broken —— because too many play one side?
- Matchmaking is broken —— because there aren’t enough players of the same rank?
- If we add a new game mode, “queue times would be outrageous because there won’t be enough playing the normal game”.
- If we add a casual mode, “queue times would be outrageous because there won’t be enough playing the competitive mode”.
- If we allow killers (or solos for that matter) to toggle between SWF for bonuses or solos for normal, “SWF would never get a match because the killer base would be split”
Other games add in different modes just fine, and their playerbase remains healthy.
So what’s the word? Is the game dying? Is the player base less than 2,000? Are we too fragile do endure a serious change without dealing a death blow?

Aside from the obvious "location/time" factor you also have way more people playing survivor than killer.
I myself seem to get into solo survivor queues within 0-3m and killer queues 0-1m.

I won't get into the argument between keys/mori in terms of balance as I honestly think any item that simply negates core mechanics of the game is unhealthy.

Now, before you do the quick thing, I don't mean who do you main, I mean how do you play.
There is a large divide amongst the player base as to what is acceptable and what isn't. I'm disgusted by Chainsaw Spam and think that you should be using your mallet more since it's your WEAPON while Hillbilly players say that it's "high skill" for example.
But that's not what this is about. I want to know what type of killer you are.
The type of psycho you embody.
Are you a furious serial killer, who's only goal is the body count, piling up the bodies to peaks that will breach the heavens? Or a patient and careful observer, who waits for things to fall into place with well-placed traps or setting up the perfect 3-gen, setting off the demise of the survivors like a fully constructed mouse trap contraption?
Perhaps you're more like me. The sick and sadistic torturer. A hunter who stalks for the thrill of the hunt, rather than the spoils. Not out for the last breath, but for the screams that lead up to it. You die when I want you to die. You will beg for mercy, for a quick end, but it will never come. Your deaths will be drawn out because that is my design. For you to escape, you must earn it and sacrifice something of yourself. Slugged survivors are rare, but not uncommon with maybe one or two per match in the middle/towards the end. After all, what better way to draw out prey from a herd than to wound one of their own with what seems like relative safety? Or to punish those who would steal my catches from me. They can leave the hook, but you will take their place if you tempt me. Respect me and prove your worth, maybe you'll be able to leave and spread the word of what I have done.
For I am more than a killer, I am a predator. My generators are my prize and nobody can take that from me.
So! Probably don't need anything quite that detailed. But hey, if you want to go to this sort of place, please do. Within something like DbD, I do like some more dark fantasy and I have a horror movie addiction for lack of a better term.
Basically for me, I prefer stealth killers and don't really like Exposed. I'll never deliberately tunnel, targeting the unhooker if they do it in front of me and prefer to draw out my matches to the slowest pace possible. I will never camp, and if I'm still near you, I KNOW that another survivor is nearby because I saw them. Naturally counters DS and BT, plus does really well in the emblems system, and is really fun to me!
This playstyle tends to lean me more towards Pig, Legion and Doctor being my main 3 killers, but I also like reworked Freddy with his more control themed kit. Devour Deathslinger is something of a guilty pleasure for me too, but I haven't played that many games with him yet.
Not doing this for any real reason. Just a bit of fun, and to help me determine why there is such a divide in the Killer community about playstyle and balance opinions.
Gimmicks. I prefer the builds that get jumpscares or unexpected reactions.
Wraith with no TR for gen grabs, or to stand invisible at a gen/totem and get a scare when someone shows up.
Myers with scratched mirror.
Insidious and Franklins so I can camp items, because NO ONE expects it.
I've played this game for far to long and care not to argue balancing that I now just play for laughs.

when a killer breaks a pallet the traditional way ( without chainsaw or gorgon's charge pounce ) should the killer be blinded by the flash light considering he has no way to avoid it and that he is looking downwards towards the pallet and not at the survivor's flashlight , unless he has the lightborn perk ?
Its nearly impossible to blind a killer if they are not breaking a pallet or picking someone up so why remove the only time you can get a blind? Also the blind duration is half done by the time you finish the break animation, you can even negate the flashlight by using decent headphones.

@Dolls said:
I wouldn't mind if that were the case. I just want totems to not reset when cleaning is interrupted. It's so annoying...
If they didn't it would make defending them impossible.
Ex: Someone is on a totem (hopefully you noticed quickly enough because it only takes 16 seconds to cleanse it).
You run to the totem in 10 seconds and chase them off, now you only have 6 seconds remaining on the totem meaning you realistically cannot protect it again if you move away. Heck as you take a few steps away that pesky survivor dashed behind you and got 2 more seconds on the totem, you now only have 4 seconds remaining...
While I understand you find it annoying that totems reset, it would be even more annoying to make protecting a totem completely useless. And if a killer is protecting a totem with such reckless abandon (as for you to not be able to cleanse it in 16 seconds) you can instead spend that time on a generator since the killer is preoccupied in another spot.

Apparently there is some form of Killer Rebellion where they want to bring Ebony Moris to mori DS-Users so that DS get nerfed. Heard about it in Tofus Stream and it is ridiculous.
Myself I have not experienced an increase in Moris, I get like 1 or 2 Moris every evening, so this is a normal rate.
Yes this "killer rebellion" started on Reddit, sadly people will consider the action of these toxic people as a painted picture of all killers when its just not true.
I've always said its not toxic survivors or toxic killers but toxic PEOPLE who ruin the game, toxicity is NOT role specific and the idiots who think they are pushing for change by increasing toxicity towards one another are the reason this games community is in such a state.
While I would love to say "just ignore them and move on" the issue has become so large with the quantity of toxic people in this game, that such methods do not work. We need to see BHVR take a stronger stance to stem them back (something that will be far from easy and will garner them even more focused hate from the very toxic people they would be punishing). There is no easy or fast solution to this problem anymore.
PS: Maybe focus a little less resources on daily cosmetic releases when the game still suffers from so many problems?....just a suggestion towards winning a little "face' value back. I think people can live without another $10 designer jean set for Claudette being shoved down their throats.

I tested out the PTB yesterday for the first time. Just one match. Well, engine.ini modifications aren't working anymore. To be specific, the lines to disable the forced AA.
I mean, fair enough IF we had the option to turn it off in the ingame settings. But we don't. In fact, the ingame settings are still as spartantic as it was since day 1.
No real resolution settings, no true fullscreen mode, no shadow options, no AA settings, no advanced sound settings, no colour blind settings, no FOV settings (only to the degree which stays balanced), just NOTHING.
Thank you bhvr. Why I played only one game in PTB? The forced AA made the whole game blurry af (which hurts my eyes) plus it dips down my fps even more which hurts my brain to play on low FPS. GG I guess, 11/10 consumer friendly product.

Can we make it to where every time a survivor gets hooked for the first time, they get a 20 second timer going and if they reach the sacrifice state before that timer finishes they get a negative bloodpoint action like say -25,000 bloodpoints which gets subtracted from your account's bloodpoint pool if you didn't make more than that in the match? I can't think of any valid reason that a survivor would reach the sacrifice state from first hook in 20 seconds unless they blew through unhook chances to race to the 2nd state and just refused to struggle to race to the sacrifice state.
Many people do not care for bloodpoints (hence hook suicides even if BP offerings were played) so this wouldn't really solve anything.

The last time I used plunder tier 3, I got 2 pink keys, 1 dull and 1 broken. Might as well add that Monto posted a vid where he found about 5+ keys on the game map with plunders.
Yeah Plunder and Ace in the (my) Hole are a staple in my gimmick build, where the item I get determines my goal/challenge. Its actually ridiculous how many keys (often with great add-ons to keep it) I get from chests. I normally end up giving them away to my team because I just don't like using them.
I won't get involved in the argument of "whats stronger key vs Mori" because I think both those items/add-ons should not exist as they remove the need to do a core mechanic, and matches tend to end quickly as it is.

@Chaoutzu said:
For as many iri heads i've ran into, and other ultra rare killer addons that break the game, this isn't a valid complaint. I've found 1 key in a chest since I've been playing. I know, because I was pretty excited that it was the first key I had, that's why the moment stuck out in my head awhile ago.
A complaint or concern does not become invalid simply because you experienced something differently.
I use to play a Plunders 3 build where the items I pulled from chests determined my playstyle/challenges and I cannot fathom the amount of purple keys I got.

Most killers love to go with the tried and true Ebony Mori for their offering; it's powerful and it gets the job done. If Devs were to add new offerings into the mix, what would you guys love to see implemented into the game? Here are some of my ideas that I could think of.
1) When burned; the entity offers protection over all hooks preventing them from being sabotaged
2) When burned; The Entity increases the speed at which it consumes each hooked survivor. Greatly decreasing the time it takes to kill a survivor on the hook by 10/15/20 seconds
3) When burned; Increases the amount of totems on the map by 1/2/3 totems.
4) When burned; The entity graces the killer with two basements to devour its pray.
5) When burned; All survivors start the match with the broken status for 10/20/30 seconds.
Survivor offering - When burnt you give the killer 200% more bloodpoints. "Sometimes what lurks in the shadows isn't as scary as you first thought..."
Killer offering - When burnt all survivors get 100% more bloodpoints. "There comes a time where one must thank nature for the bountiful prey it provides, to nurture the young so they may grow to become your most thrilling hunt yet."

A lot of game developers (Activition-Blizzard, Riot games to name a few) allow for a de-escalation policy, where a temporary (or permanent ban, in some cases) can be lifted from one's account, if the player in question has made considerable efforts to improve themselves.
As it stands, a lot of toxic players who are permanently banned simply buy a new account, and continue as they used to. If a "redemption-period" was to be implemented, a toxic player could receive a second chance, if they don't receive any reports for a certain amount of time period, say 6 months. That way they will act better, instead of ban evading.
Thoughts?
I don't want BHVR to give toxic players a "second chance" unless they are also willing to implement the "death penalty" for those who commit truly unruly trolling!

Hm Myers, you are right there. But Myers EW is limited, he can stalk only a set amount per survivor. Oni can collect blood from his victims without limit. It would be really unfair if MYers power could be cancelt via stun. Esp. since pallets can hurt him already heavily in Tier 3, making him loop and waste his power. I can't see this issue with Oni in Fury, he got melee and Dash for handling pallets. To actually get a pallet stun on Oni in Fury is much more difficult than with Myers T3.
Oni has the limit of time to his power.
You either have to go collect more blood orbs or get into another chase and get 2 hits.
If a pallet stun canceled his power then he would lose huge amounts of time trying to just get it back, and you would be playing a powerless killer for a large portion of the game because every pallet loop would become incredibly dangerous to you as Oni.

Beware, another text heavy post from yours truly.
Ie something that if changed, is 100% vaild. That no one can absolutely argue against, without having well, logic thrown there way. I want to open up pro dev discussion, in a way to show the devs exactly why we want things changed other then "well this is bollocks remove it or i will boycott you". Now obviously there is always going to be a counter arguement, and things can't be 100% full proof, but im more meaning for you to describe why you dislike something about the game, why it should be changed, and possibly (but not needed) how you would change it.
As a good example : God (tier) loops are inherently bad and should be removed or altered to be fair for both sides, devs doing so through breakable walls on things such as the ironworks of misery, is a net positive change for game health.
The reason that god loops are bad for the game, is that they make the survivor using them inherently invincible, or in the above mentioned iron works of misery, force the killer to chase the survivor for such a long period of time (with no avalible shortcut excluding certain killers and perks) that it becomes near worthless to chase them as you would outright likely lose the game. These loops break the game in such a fashion that it removes the difficulty from the match and places the killer in a situation where there forced to seek out another player to hunt else be looped for and lose the game. it also removes the strategy and "mindgames" that newer and traditional loops provide for the killer/survivor allowing them to be extended/shortened through the use of skill and chance. Adding breakable walls/altering these loops increases game health by expanding the skill cap and decreasing mindless play.
A poor example is : Keys are inherently bad and should be removed. Or moris are inherently bad and should be removed. (ie the arguement is not giving any reasoning, nor any actual feedback on why such a thing should happen.)
to rework said poor example : Keys were designed for use during a period in which the endgame collapse wasn't an avalible option with the hatch being closed. with said feature now being in the game i feel they are too powerful and should be adjusted. Or for the second poor example, Despite being reworked from their initial state (being able to be used upon your first down) Mori's are still inherently too powerful an offering as evidenced by perks which grant you the same ability to mori someone requiring a lot of work or special conditions to be applied. The ability to simply mori after first hook is too powerful for a simple 7000 bp spend, and should be adjusted to allow for mori's and there cool animations, but in fairness towards the other side whilst still leaning towards the killer. This is because knocking a single player out of the game after a single down, allows for huge pressure, and swings the game from a 4v1 to a 3v1 to a 2v1 far faster then the game intends for you to progress and makes it much harder for survivors to play.
An example of what i would personally change? : Add a survival bloodpoint event for being healed by other players. This incentivises healing (Wasting survivors time in favour of the killer) whilst also just plain rewarding those who do heal with some bloodpoints. It also brings it in line with selfcaring which already rewards players with survival bloodpoints. this is overall healthy for the game as it increases the amount of bloodpoints survivor players can earn (a precious commodity) and allows more opportunites to do so whilst not unfairly boosting it above the killer. it makes sense, and encourages spending more time healing then injured, which balances the game as to promote not doing the objective, which is seen as going to fast much of the time from the killers perspective.
TLDR: Add your personal changes/gripes to the game with reasoning as to why. Try and find flaws in other peoples arguements and give your own logic as to why said things should or should not be changed. These things don't have to include the actual changes, more so bringing up why something should be changed, and how it effects the game now.
There is only 1 thing that needs to be changed and everyone can accept as a universal truth....the player base toxicity towards one another.

Hate to tell you then but the forums are designed for exactly these topics, while it would be nice for people to not bicker and argue I fail to see how the OP was arguing with anyone.
The OP provided his math and a concern, the devs replied as well as others with insight on what X amount of seconds can translate to in game. The OP did not attack anyone or act in a "toxic" manner. The “Not So Tropical” Origins of Hawaiian Pizza
ALL TOPICSJULY 11, 2018 AUTHOR: ALEX HUGHES

- SHARE!
No single food item stirs opposing opinions like the Hawaiian Pizza. Does pineapple really belong on pizza? This pizza’s combination of ham, bacon, pineapple and cheese on top of dough and tomato sauce divides people like no other food item. You either love it or you hate it!
These dividing camps between the pro-pineapple and anti-pineapple factions have even reached the political realm. In 2017, President of Iceland, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, expressed his disdain for the Hawaiian Pizza, saying that if he had the power to pass the law, he would ban pineapple on pizza in Iceland. Following the Iceland incident, Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau took to twitter and said, “I have a pineapple. I have a pizza. And I stand behind this delicious creation.” Why would the Prime Minister of Canada defend Hawaiian Pizza, we all know that Hawaii isn’t in Canada!
Pineapple on pizza originated in the small town of Chatham, Ontario, Canada, far from the beaches of Hawaii that have become the namesake for the dish. It was restaurant owner and chef, Sam Panopoulos at his restaurant, Satellite Restaurant who has been given credit for being the Father of the Hawaiian Pizza. The Satellite Restaurant primarily offered American dishes like cheeseburgers, but expanded their offerings to Chinese-American cuisine, and eventually pizza, in the 1960s.
The mass popularity of pizza in North America is often credited to returning servicemen from the Second World War who had sampled the dish in Italy. Pizza grew as a restaurant offering in Canada in the late 1950s, and by the 1960s speciality pizzerias had caught on. In 1962, Panopoulos added canned pineapple to pizzas in his restaurant, and the taste quickly caught on with his customers.
Why Panopoulos added canned pineapple to pizza remains a mystery. Perhaps he made a mistake in the kitchen, perhaps he was a culinary visionary or perhaps he was sadist hell-bent on ruining pizza.
In my opinion, Panopoulos was riding the wave of Tiki culture that had exploded around the world in the late 1950s and early 1960s following 1959 Hawaiian statehood. The tropical lifestyle was popularized, as people fell in love with the romanticized exotic culture. Tiki themed restaurants, with Tiki-drinks such as the Zombie and Mai Tai were quite popular. At the same time, both canned pineapple and pineapple juice production and exports had expanded from both Hawaii and the Philippines. Not only had the tropical culture exploded onto the scene, tropical foods like pineapple were now widely available.
The Hawaiian Pizza, with it’s unlikely Canadian origins, quickly spread across North America and can now be found in many pizzerias and frozen food sections. Although the Hawaiian pizza expanded from its origins in Canada, the division between pineapple pizza lovers and haters rapidly grew. In a survey conducted for this blog, 58% of respondents said pineapple belongs on pizza, while 42% held distain for the combination. Which camp do you belong to?
[Hope this helps clear the air]
Also Pineapple on pizza all day EVERYDAY!

Most of the time when a killer is being toxic to the survivors is because the match before that, they had toxic ppl trolling them, The most toxic players are the survivors, they start toxic killers, what’s even the point in calling someone toxic, the game gave these perks and play styles to play, use them if it gives you the upper advantage, you wanna win right, and survivor mains, just becuz all 4 don’t escape doesnt mean it’s unfair, watch horror movies, normally 1 survivor escapes not everyone, killers are meant to be overpowered, stop claiming that every killer needs a nerf becuz then it’ll be survivors to overpowered which is already starting to happen.
There are no toxic killers and there are no toxic survivors, there are just toxic people.
We need to stop this damn "us vs them" mentality and realize PEOPLE are toxic not the roles. Yes you will tend to see more survivor players being toxic because you have 4 of them vs 1 killer in a match and survivors have the ability to play with friends (likely encouraging such behavior amung them) but its not the role that's toxic, its the immature individual playing it.

Aye but many times if you are unsure you will keep a look out for the killer (no TR etc) and many people DO NOT instantly hop on gens.
I too instantly hop on a gen because I enjoy getting chased so I agree it whats some players do but I still won't have information of where/who it is.

I've been accused of using discord when I was in solo queue. Don't use SWF as a crutch for your mistakes.
If 1-2 people are baiting you to run into circles, that's 1-2 people not doing generators. Ignore them if you got into the 0.00001% chance that you have the best 2 players in DbD in your match and catch them out of position later.
If you're dealing with flashlights, look at walls when making a pick-up or look opposite of where the flashlight wielder is.
Good luck out there.
Player 1 "Hey Its Myers and hes chasing me.
Player 2/3/4 "Great we are doing gens!"
Now you instantly have 3 people on gens. That's the real power of SWF, not the bully/troll but the simple fact that you know whats happening everywhere all the time. Even chill SWF can just toss a "oh hes chasing me" and that's a big green light to do gens.

I honestly can’t remember if the old ruin before the nerf stopped gen rush for good survivors, I’m an experienced survivor and I can’t remember cause I’ve never used ruin as killer, did old ruin stop gen rush? Or did the new ruin make it easier? Can a KILLER main tell me.
The ruin change did a few things.
Old Ruin - Worked against new players / mid tier players at slowing down the game
It could have a small effect on experienced players but most would have no problem hitting great skillchecks (or gen tapping)
Old Ruin did help boost some players to higher ranks than they maybe should have been.
So much RNG with cleansing.....
New Ruin- Is pretty much a joke and can be ignored by all levels of survivors now. The only good combo is surveillance and Ruin however if Ruin gets cleansed then the killer has a crappy build.
New ruin is now boosting some survivor players to ranks they shouldn't be and still does nothing to experienced players.
New Ruin also (due to quick gen times) allows for more mistakes to be made by experience and average players since they are no longer affected as poorly by Ruins affect.
I do not like new Ruin in the slightest. While I can still do fine vs inexperience or uncoordinated groups, the amount of stress you can experience in high ranks is far from enjoyable. I enjoy not playing "meta" builds and tend to go with gimmick builds more often but many of my add-ons feel wasted when a game ends in 3-4 minutes. Sure this will eventually push me back down to average players so i can enjoy my builds again but it makes the already messed up matchmaking that much more annoying to deal with. Why do we still not have a "casual" mode? Still get the "gg ez" messages when I'm playing jumpscare Myers and not trying to 3 hook people but rather give them scares....
-
On one hand this would just create more "toxic" players who bully inexperienced killers for points.
On the other hand I will be landing far more hits earlier as people try to 360 and fail.

-To answer your question about slowing gen times, just release kittens once a gen is done. I'm not doing another gen until I gather all the kittens!

- Being near the hook takes away from malicious points, which is Leg's best category by far so they barely even notice the penalty.
- If you use Frenzy on the rescue, you get a free hit on the rescuer, activate BT if the unhook had it and get two quick hits which make up malicious points you might've lost.
- Now the unhook and the rescuer are both possible targets to chase (both injured and no BT) so you get the best of both worlds.
I will accept it only if he promises to sing "Poker Face" to me while he is standing there.

If I was the killer and I hit a survivor while doing a pirouettes I would be suprised it landed.
Yup because directional lunging is the most unrealistic thing in this game.

Most people would say they don't know just to not fear getting berated.
Or because its true.
If you are going to assume without facts then you just fuel the problem.

I clicked "No" because I normally don't tunnel in the first place. Unless I need to for pressure.
Pretty much this.
If I realize I need to get a kill to put pressure then sure but most matches I just kill whats near me and if you were injured I'll slug for pressure.

That has always been the ideal change in my eyes. That way if you want to get the instant down, you need to do it from far away and aim well, not just follow someone around and toss it as soon as they vault a window or drop a pallet.
Though as someone who has played a lot of Huntress, I would probably hazard to say 32m instead of 24m. 24m is only a tile and a half, and that's not too uncommon for the Huntress.
Just remember us console peasants please.

Got to love the DBD community.
OP complains about toxic players and was possibly being toxic themselves.
Forum users call out OP to varying degrees of moderation.
Forum users get rattled by rattled forum users calling people out.
Whole thread becomes an argument against one another.
I'm marking my observations and will most likely have someone attempt to pull me in as well.
Truly a beautiful place.

Well from my experience it sure doesn't feel like it lmao. I've seen my fair share but nowhere near the amount these forums seem to suggest, hence why I want your survivors for a day to see if it's even true.
Rank 1 PC EU if that helps, since apparently EU survivors are much sweater than anywhere else.

Are you saying that EU players are a "tight knit" group?
...hehehe...

Ok,I can get behind this. This would be a pretty fair option too.
For some its less about BP and more about Pips.
EX: I play my butt off to get my hooks, protect my gens and do my chases. I'm doing well most people have been 1 hooked but gens are flying, suddenly 1-2-3 escape?! Wow that keys just took them all out and I'm losing a pip?
I mean the Devs have said to expect the first few gens to go fast and that the game should be stronger near late game, yet a key can completely negate everything about late game (and with how fast "late game" is getting this just makes it more difficult in high ranks to get those pips).
I frankly just think Mori and Keys should be removed from the game as they negate core game mechanics or they need to be reworked so as to not effect core game mechanics.
