The hidden MMR numbers are used for matchmaking. As surv if you survive your number goes up, and goes down should you be sacrificed. As killer your number goes up with 2+ kills and down with 2+ escapes, not counting hatch or DC's.
Of course backfilling due to loddy dodging wrecks this system.
Thank you
-
So, what is used for matchmaking then? I took an extended break from the game, came back, and keep getting matched with people who have no clue what they’re doing. Where prior to my break if you reached gold or red rank you’d be playing with more experience survivors
-
Ok I was clearly blind when I read it 😆
-
Thank you.
I just went off in-game details
-
For Killer to be scary a complete re-work would be needed.
Treat it as a hack and slash. First hit the survivor is injured, 2nd hit the survivor is down and can be killed.
killer isn’t scary because survivor gets so many chances before they’re actually dead..
4 x survivors: 24 hits and 12 hooks for you to 4k
Then add in 2nd chance perks, Boom healing, gen defending etc.. So you could be looking more at 30 - 40 hits, add in few more hooks if you take into account flashlight blinds etc.

I've been collecting data from several matches since the last patch dropped and noticed an increasingly worrisome trend: matches have become VERY survivor sided. It's borderline impossible to have a normal match as a killer anymore, literally every single survivor group is comparable to a SWF sweat squad and gens pop at rapid speeds. I also see bp incentives for killers seemingly throughout the day, that's how bad things have gotten.
You want some pics? I got pics.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/SZMKSTDXCYTL/playtime.png
This is my profile; I currently have over 2600 hours on DbD. I've been playing since 2018, mostly as killer.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/4DJLM9XTECBZ/last-18-games.png
This is a compilation of recent matches, 18 of them in total. I've been playing as Knight, Legion and Plague in those games and it's been one loss after another.
Some of these matches even featured players with hacked items (yellow flashlights with instablind capability, being able to blind from behind the killer) which has drastically lowered my enjoyment of the game. It's plain torture, not even camping seems to work against these teams.
Everyone brings Adrenaline and Dead Hard, every single survivor is playing at maximum efficency and chases take so long that half of the survivor objective is done when I finally hook someone. The constant information buffs for survivors have created a gap that's so vast that most killers can't even cross it anymore, it feels completely hopeless.
I urge you to revert these HUD-changes, survivors should NEVER have this much information to begin with. The killer entirely relies on survivors mostly lacking coordination and stumbling around; you've put this important aspect entirely on its head and enabled survivors to make a mockery out of killers. This cannot go on.
The more worrisome part of it all is - they’ve made balancing changes to the game for both sides over the past xx months. Now with this latest patch the efficiency of survivors has increased immensely to the point where every game for killer feels like you’re facing a SWF sweat squad.
I honestly don’t know how they’re gonna fix it. This isn’t a tweak gen speed, perks, or killer movement speed buff solution.

Before I give any other response I have an important question: what's your stance on survivors tbagging at the gates until the last nanosecond of EGC?
My stance is: If survivors want to wait around until the last nanosecond all the power to them. Me personally, I’ll push them out to speed up the process.

OhTofu uploaded a video about these exact same add ons around the same time you made this post.
Awfully convenient…

Hit and run doesn't work at high level play. Watch any tournament or high level player. Hell even Dowsey was criticizing (in a good way) tru3talent when he went against Oracle for playing hit and run, and that he needed to commit to a chase in order to stand a chance.
You can’t win every match dude, if you balance the game because you went against Oracle and lost. How would any new player even remotely stand a chance 😅
-
Evenly distribute pressure.
Hit them once, If you can’t down them quickly break a pallet and go find another. Rinse repeat. Except to lose 2-3 gens at the start.
Is the survivor your chasing running to an area is where no gens exist? It’s a trap.
If you want honest advice share a youtube link of your gameplay, can almost guarantee you’re doing something wrong

Killers who camp and tunnel are basically ending the game for that survivor. Survivors who teabag do not make it impossible for the killers to play.
I don’t condone tunnelling and camping, however i’m sure we’ve all been in a match where the killer has rage quit due to toxic survivors. Hasn’t that example also made impossible to play as killer?
Why’s one for acceptable, yet another isn’t?

@SMitchell8 said:
I get those frequently even if I dont camp or tunnel. I perhaps come off as a bit of a tryhard perhaps. Oni on console is a joke atm and Ghostface and Trapper are 2 very abusable killers by coordinated teams anyway 😅
I main GF, If survivors tea bag i return the favour once I've downed them. I’ve had survivors message me being triggered because I did it to them, even though the instigated it first. 🤷🏻♂️😅

@meatisadelicacy said:
I think you're at least a little bothered by the teabagging, hence the post. But I agree, it's funny when bad survivors teabag at the gate. They literally don't even know how bad they are.
Also, teabagging isn't necessarily the insult you think it is. Sometimes when I hit a good skill check with someone else on the gen with me, I "teabag" to celebrate. I'm sure they think I'm an idiot but I play to have fun. Survivors often teabag one time so say thanks. I do it all the time, and survivors do it back. Sometimes survivors teabag to say hi to each other. The other day, the gate was open, two survivors left, and my teammate who was dead on hook was downed. The killer walked through a pallet, where I was waiting, and I got the save. He just stood there, and when we got to the gate, we teabagged at each other to celebrate and then ran out. It wasn't about making the killer feel bad or to insult him. He wasn't even there.
If I can switch off to the performance issues and just play the game for BP, tea bagging is very minor in comparison. What does bother me simply from lack of understanding is I don’t understand the need to tea bag a killer performing poorly.
Generally I've found survivors single tea bag to a killer, or survivor to say thank you. Multiple at a killer is usually to mock for whatever reason. Multiple to a survivor can be numerous things, usually only classified as bad manner if you do it in front of a hooked survivor. I mean, if you want to do it all the power to them. I’ m sure eventually along the way these exact same survivors complain about tunnelling and camping killers. Yet here they are adding fuel to the fire, for a killer not so level headed a.k.a me

Tea bagging doesn’t bother me, what bothers me is I don’t understand the need to tea bag a killer performing poorly.

It’s just killers complaining tbh, and I’m a killer main.
Killer role: Pressure gens, chase survivors, mind game tiles where applicable, peel off from lengthy chases.
Survivors: Repair gens, loop the killer and waste as much of his time as possible.
”Hold W” is just a complaint from killers IMO about how easy the Survivor role is.
if killers are silly enough to chase a survivor to the corner of the map you’re falling for the bait. No difference from having tunnel vision and watching gens fly by as you eat 10 pallets because of *Clicky clicky*

I made the comment that I did because I've explained the cosmetic issue half a dozen times today (in short it was a bug, no one is entitled to it, BVHR has every right to eliminate it for any reason they choose, and there are probably more complex reasons for their decision than simply "we want to take things away from our players") yet now that streamers - players seen as some kind of authority on all things related to this game - are complaining, the misplaced sense of victimization is going to gain that much more traction.
In other words, it would be really nice if this community could actually have a reasonable discussion without seeking the perceived expertise of a streamer to determine the direction of the narrative.
I don’t think anyone really cared that much about them fixing the cometic glitch we all knew it would eventually get fixed.
The issue is we have a broken chapter that we paid good money, we all expected at least the RE map would be fixed. Or even a x 2 bp event to keep us occupied while they fixed all the issues.
What do we have after after 1 week of patiently waiting? cosmetic fixes….
Nobody seeks any streamers expertise, I’m sure a majority felt exactly the same way I do once they read the hot fix patch notes.
He summarised it quite well *Inset phrase* Couldn’t of said it better myself

@Mandy said:
There's a big thing here with the word "devs" - this pretty much encompasses everybody that works on the game, including myself. And I'm on this forum 5 days out of 7 (I don't work weekend, but I do pop in during the weekend).
I pass on as much information as I'm able to, confirming things as and when I can - as shown yesterday confirming that there will be a hotfix patch today.
Sometimes there's not too much to say, right now we have a message on this forum confirming that we are looking into the issues that arose with the latest patch, and that it's being worked on. Until solutions are found, tested and ready for release there's really not much to say about it.
Many things are being worked on, including fixes, upcoming content, changes to current content - and a lot of these things are in prototype phases where no final decision has been made, and we typically do not say we're working on these things as then people get excited and expect them to be released straight away, when in reality it's some months off. We've already said we're working on changes to mori's & keys and that they are part of a larger rework for example, yet still there's posts with people expecting this to be released instantly from as soon as we mention that we're working on something.
DbD is now a pretty massive Live game, with an awful lot of things to consider, one change could have a knock on factor to many different things for example so the game as a whole always has to be considered as well as every individual perk, item, character, add-on etc and that does take time, the way things interact with each other always has to be considered, that's why any change always has to be tested to make sure that it interacts with something else in the way it was intended.
Yes, we've acknowledged the issues with the last chapter and we've acknowledged that this is something we are looking into and actively working on, which we've communicated about. Daily updates of "yes we're still working on this" really wouldn't be useful or beneficial.
I can’t speak for everyone, but a simple acknowledgement to the community that play DBD of “Guys we messed up, sorry for the inconvenience caused. Our team are looking into the issues, and we’ll have it sorted ASAP”
Much like the developers of CyberPunk 2077, delays happened, they took ownership of the problem, and publicly apologised numerous times.
But instead…. We get a robotic answer pinned to the forum “We’ll look into it”
if these sorts of issues were few and far between I’m sure the community would be much more chilled about it….. But no, they’re not few and far between….
Every.
Single.
{Bad Word}.
Chapter a new bug emerges….
Which is either completely ignored for weeks on end ( Shadow nerf ) despite the forums being literally flooded with complaints. Or the above example happens.
We know, that you know. Fog Whispers talk about it constantly. And I don’t believe the company as a whole is that ignorant.
it’s really disappointing to see the community being treated like {Bad Word} consistently.
-

You’ll always lose 2-3 gens within the first few minutes, during that time you build pressure. if a gen is at 90% consider it a lost cause, unless you have PGTW.
The advanced side of killer is knowing when survivors are wasting your time. Is the survivor you’re chasing leading you away on a chase from generators? So many killers have tunnel vision! And focus on survivors as the priority, instead of generators.
The same as clickty click survivors, they’re trying to get your attention away from generators. Once you learn the advance side, even the best survivors go down like a sack of potatoes
-
I stopped watching around the 5 minute mark. Nurse is primary prediction, and muscle memory.
You’re doing well dude, keep practicing 🤙🏻
-
Buff! His power is pointless, survivors have zero incentive to vaccinate themselves.
Survivor mains will state: But they cough, and zombies are attracted to that…
Yet, so does the injured state!
You’re better off punching survivors with Nemesis, with the exception where TS can hit them, but a punch cannot. That’s literally the extent of his power.
-
Lethal Pursuer isn’t that good. IMO time related perks are shite you have them for 2 minutes then you’ve only got 3 perks for the rest of the match.
For the most part you locate a survivor within a minute into the match. That’s where your pressure starts
-
Four competent survivors in red ranks against weak killers. Survivor sided all the way.
Reduce Survivors base speed by a smidgen, or reduce the terror radius would balance things out greatly. Unless you’re a stealth killer, survivors run away from the generator a couple of seconds before you even reach it. It’s a great tactic for survivors on large maps it extends the chase greatly, and allows them to get to a nearby loop. Competent killers know it’s a pointless chase, because this example wastes so much of the killers time.
If 4 survivors do exactly this it’s impossible to get any form of consistency in pressure, without using top tier killers.
-
Honestly don’t treat keys as a big thing and just play like you normally would, tunnelling the key holder will just make you lose the game.
Play normally, if you have pressure they won’t have a chance to use the key.
Killers have this absurd mindset it must be 4k for you to win the game.
Imo
Entity Displeased: You lost
Brutal Killer: Draw
Ruthless Killer: You played well
Merciless Killer: You played really well

How does that even affect you like, if you're at 10 hook, the difference in bps between 11 and 12 is completely negligible, and you've won the game already anyway
Satisfaction of knowing I played well I guess
-
If I played well in accordance to the survivor rule book and hooked everyone 10 times, you can guarantee i’m slugging the final two so I can get my 12 hooks.
Too many times has the last survivor escaped due to a lucky hatch spawn.
-
I’ve missed so many Tentacle Strike hits because of this. It’s infuriating
-
@TheClownIsKing said:
Also you’re not meant to commit to a 3 hit chase with a healthy survivor.
Want to know WHY one of his perks is Lethal Pursuer? Because you’re meant to get every survivor contaminated ASAP by using hit n run tactics. Once they’re contaminated they’re easier to find/track, and THEN you can commit to chases with them. And if you’re lucky perhaps some of them have been harassed by Zombies while you’re doing you’re early game “set up”
Not sure what matches you’re playing buddy but this doesn’t happen, trust me I've tried this exact approach and it doesn’t work.
Once the match starts you find a Survivor and contaminate them, you move on find to the next one and contaminate them. Only the first Survivor has found a Vaccine and used it.
So now you’re 2 - 3 minutes into the match, with zero pressure and you know what happens next.
Every killer will agree getting pressure is top priority at the start of the match, hooking a survivor is the beginning of your pressure.
You can get this with Nemesis by simply using his punch ability... Doing so negates his power completely.
It can be argued Tentacle Strike can hit over junk pile loops, pallets, and through windows. However the speed boost survivors get from a successful strike, on top of waiting for the TS animation to finish, allows the survivor to get to another loop. Which extends the overall chase, as a result of which you lose further pressure
-
@Reinami said:
All it does is let nemesis damage them with his power. Additionally they make coughing noises.
I’m almost better off using the standard attack then. Literal zero incentive for good survivors to find the vaccine.
Plague all over again

Cons:
Super safe, unmindgameable pallets.
It's hard to find gens.
Pros:
There are no infinites.
Breakable walls aren't a must.
I wouldn't say map is terrible by itself... but when it comes to the killers getting this map is either automatic win or loss.
Kilers that decimate everyone on this map:
Huntress, Hag, Deathslinger to some degree.
To them there is no counter in hallways.
Killers that are strong on this map:
PiramidHead, Clown, Freddy, Doc
Killers that are ######### on this map:
Plague, all stealth killers, Nurse (due to the bugs), Bubba (It's Bubba), Trapper, Legion (its size combined with 2 floors with not too many drops, makes it hard to use his power effectively)
Killers that can go either way:
Myers (his classic slow movement speed in t1)
Demogorgon (if you get portals you are set, but more often you won't have time for that)
I decimated with Ghost Face with zero add ons so I dunno what you’re on about
-
If you play like a d** * I won’t give you further points, either that or team mates are potatoes.
usually it’s killers are being d****
-
I’m surprised devs haven’t jumped on this yet....
The video is one huge “You’ve f***ed up and here’s the proof”
-
I tried doing the challenge last night.... I got survivor salt because I was focused on flashlight blinds instead of gens.....
As punishment they let me die on first hook x 2
-
I’ll suicide when my team mates are potatoes! I’ve been hooked and watched my teammates continue to work on gens, or be completely oblivious etc. By your logic we should just put up with that.
Killers: Do something about DC’s they’re robbing me of BP.
Devs: Ok *Implements dc ban*
Killers: Do something about hook suicides this is BS!
Can you hear yourself when you speak this utter garbage? You probably complain of survivors standing at the exit gates when they’ve won too “They’re just wasting time I want to move to the next game” You see the contradiction yeah?
-
Yup....
I’m resorting to following scratch marks due to sounds cutting out, i’m losing games as killer because of it. Nothing is more frustrating than losing a survivor because the sound cut out.
I’m over this game, I was hopeful Silent Hill would bring something fresh to the game... Instead it’s a steaming pile of {Bad Word}!
I’m literally finishing off Tome 4 then heading back to other games until DBD is enjoyable again

@Rydog said:
There's going to be a learning curve vs. any killer. Plague negates healing, Doctor negates stealth, so what?
Survivors have powerful tools other than their perks. Also, Executioner's cage is a sometimes skill, plus 19 other killers exist. It's not like this is going to be your predicament 100% of the time.
Learning curves don’t exist with PH, you get hooked, tunnelled, caged, Tunnelled, then death. He only has to pick you up once

PH has made Tunneling and camping a lot stronger due to his power.
He’s broken in a number of ways. How he made it out of PTB like this is beyond me... It took killers a few hours to work out he’s strong at tunnelling. PTB had 2 weeks ffs
Ph will have some hotfixes, just gotta wait until then
