Can't imagine the controls would be any good.

From the very few First Person mobile games I have played. I don't know how anyone could handle, or think it's even close to being considered decent as far as control go.

Now this... This would be unbalanced in cross-play :P

COD zombies really surprised me back in the day for how decent the controls felt. Even the game seemed to run very smoothly.

I honestly dislike most mobile games though, so my experience is also limited.

It's not about sacrificing fun for the sake of winning - quite the opposite, actually. People who play that way do it because competition is fun. Trying their hardest to win, being challenged, using all the tools they have at their disposal to surpass their opponent(s) is what makes the game enjoyable for them. They're not trying to ruin the fun for everyone else, they're just playing in a way that is fun for them.

If the others in the match have a different attitude and just want to play casually, not care about winning and just make sure everyone has fun, that's naturally going to create tension. But that's equally true of any occasion where multiple people enter a shared experience with conflicting goals.

    Well said.

I prefer to play way more casual because I pretty much have everything in the game at this point. However I tend to gauge my "audience", so to speak. when playing killer and will either play more "sweaty" if I noticed the team is showing skill on their part, or I'll play more fun/Role play scary if I notice the team seems less skilled or "immersed" themselves.

Basically whatever is more fun more my enjoyment or the match overall.

**DISCLAIMER: This post assumes the reader knows the difference between a complaint and constructive criticism.**

**ALSO: This pertains to the games mechanics. It has nothing to do with bugs, glitches, and/or lack of the games overall intended performance.**

Dead By Daylight is a 4v1 asymmetric game which makes for having perfect balance near impossible. With that said, the developers at Behaviour have come about as close as they can while constantly tweaking and making adjustments as the game evolves. Both roles have a job to do, while the killer is reliant only on themselves the survivors job is much more team oriented making it to where just one weak link can cause the team to fold. Survivors can be eliminated from a trial one by one slowly lightening the pressure from the killer whereas the killer is an unstoppable force who doesn’t go away. The survivors only defense is to run using raw skill and map knowledge to waste the killers time in order for their team to get objectives done. The killer however also uses skill and map knowledge combined with mind tricks to catch and disable the survivors. Killers also all have a unique ability to give them and added edge. It is imperative that while a killer is focused on a target the rest of the team is focused on objectives. Also, after the killer disables a survivor(hooks or slugs) he puts pressure on the rest of the team. Most survivors lose because people aren’t doing their job and most killers lose because the entire team does their job so well. Now that we’ve covered some basics, lets look at a few things people frequently complain about.

Camping. Everyone hates a camper. If a killer is camping there should not be 2-3 survivors hiding around the hook waiting for a chance to rescue, there should be 2-3 people on gens getting 1-2 to pop before the first hook state is up so the killer knows his time there is being wasted and leaves the hook to hunt. If a killer sees someone in the vicinity of the hook they have no incentive to leave as they know gens aren’t getting done and they have a possible chance at preventing the rescue and/or hooking someone else. The survivor should try to lead the killer away and if they don’t commit to the chase the survivor should immediately get on a gen. How about face camping? In my experience(5000 hrs played) if someone is getting face camped its because they did something the killer didn’t like. Maybe you ran the killer for 3-5 gens, maybe your friend did and when they finally got downed you Luke Skywalker-ed the killer with a flashlight, maybe you’re a Blendette or another character that killer has a personal bias against. Who knows? But I do know that most teams run borrowed timed. A SKILLED team can get a rescue in almost ANY circumstance. The mechanics behind team rescues work in favor of the survivors, hands down. I realize camping ruins the fun for those who don’t know how to deal with it seeing as it happens so often, but really players just need to learn the techniques to combat it.

Lets look at totem spawns. Some people want them better hidden, some people want them easier to find. The truth is, on any given map(for most maps) out of the 5 totems that spawn, 2-3 will be well hidden and 2-3 out in plain sight giving an equal chance for survivors to find the hex quickly or for the killer to prolong it's life. This is in addition to totem locations being relatively standard from realm to realm(in jungle gyms, on hills, upstairs in buildings, in or outside the killer shack). Some say totems should retain progress if the cleansing is stopped. That’s nonsense. Totems don’t take that long to cleanse and they rarely last an entire match. If they were to retain progress every time a killer chased a survivor off them, there would be almost no chance to try to defend them. I realize Hex perks like NOED, Devour Hope, and Ruin are extremely powerful but that’s the logic behind high risk, high reward. If you’re a survivor who struggles with totems, work on your map knowledge. If you’re a killer who can't get value out of Hex perks, work on your map pressure or use other perks that give you more value.

Flashlights! Oh, what a headache these are for killers in the right(or wrong) hands. For a killer to be blinded and drop a survivors 4-5 times in a game is infuriating. I get it, but do u know how difficult flashlights are to learn to use properly? I would honestly say that of all the people I have seen attempt a flashlight save, less than 20 percent succeeded. Not only that, but id say a solid 25-30 percent weren't even close and paid the price after the killer puts the survivor they picked up on the hook. Now, a good killer will look around or face a wall if they know another survivor has one. So yes, they are strong but both sides have their pros and cons with them.

Killers are over-powered? They certainly are not. Have you ever seen an elite SWF absolutely terrorize a killer like they were The Strangers? When a team has clear communication, encyclopedic map knowledge, parkour looping skills, and executes teamwork with military precision they are near unbeatable for any killer. The fact is, SWF is over-powered. The reason so many matches result in a 4-kill is because survivors don’t work as a team, focus on objectives, and make poor decisions. I have had many a night where I queued as a solo survivor and escaped 20+ games in a row, without communication. I have also had nights where my entire team died with the same consistency. If survivors spend time crouching and hiding, using urban evasion to get around, getting off gens when they hear the slightest heartbeat, leaving gens to get a rescue, not commiting at crunch time, running to the corner to heal, self-caring every time they get hit, stopping to do totems or search chests when the killer has extreme pressure on them, playing scared or extremely cautious, and not maintaining gen pressure then they are doomed to lose, even against sub-par killers. All of those examples happen in a majority of matches and they all come down to the players lack of fundamentals and poor decision making. Keeping in mind that every match is different and RNG can also play a role in the outcome of any given match, there really is no greater common denominator for why survivors lose than the teams conduct.

With all of these things taken into account it brings me back to balancing. The game is designed for both sides to thrive equally. Nobody would play this game if 4 survivors died every game, or if all 4 escaped. There has to be a happy medium for both killers and survivors to enjoy. If you think it has been an easy road for the developers to get this game where it is today as well as continue to improve it and keep it balanced, think again. I'll reiterate my feelings that they(the devs) have done a well as they could have thus far. If you find yourself always having things to complain about, maybe you should look at your own skills as a player and see where you need improve. Its very rare that I hear top tier killers OR survivors complain about so many of the communities common issues. If you are truly top tier in both roles and still have room for complaints, maybe you should think about switching to a different game.

    Well said.

  • Wish there was a "other" option.

As I play on PS4 its much longer to send hatemail and thus people tend to simply not send it or change their mind half way through. For this reason its incredibly rare to get it.

I have never sent hate mail but I have received it (not lots) though I usually send only a meme back in response. This leads to either them sending a meme back at which point it becomes a "meme war" or we simply laugh it off and drop the convo. I actually made a irl friend from this method after a match where they sent me a meme and I send one back. We eventually got into a discussion and found out we lived close by. We have been friends for close to 3 years now.

Getting slugged = "Unbreakable into Sprint Burst".. You really dont read, do you?

Again if I'm sitting on top of you having to wait 60 seconds on the off chance you actually have DS/Unbreakable combo you:

    A: Are not escaping.

B: Are wasting time regardless of if you had or did not have those perks.

  • @Ivaldi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1235584#Comment_1235584

Because Deliverance/DS/Sprint Burst/Unbreakable can give you more than enough time to get to an open exit gate.

Deliverance off hook, get slugged, now wait 60 seconds before picking you up....

Still same problem and if your saying you want the free escape from being next to an open exit gate running that build, well how is that fair?

Its intended but i think thats a bad design choice, deliverence should work on last hook, even though chance of escape is slim i think it should still work.

Why though? If deliverance did work on last hook then killers would just wait it out, and then we would be right back to the reason last survivor has their sacrifice sped to phase 3 all over again, to prevent wasted time doing nothing.

All killers are able to be stunned, that’s that, if you find it hard to go against these kinds of people just play how you’d normally play and then move on, ignore there flashlight clicking or t-bagging.

Wraith and Nurse (although damn near impossible on Nurse) can be stunned by shining a flashlight on their body when they are using their power.

Wraith is invisible, shinning a flashlight on any part of his body for X seconds will cause him to be stunned for 5 seconds and be de-cloaked.

Nurse is holding her blink, shining a flashlight on her for X seconds stuns her for 5 seconds (take this with a grain of salt it may actually have been removed....or bugged)

Those things aren't apples for apples, bud. T-bagging is not a viable game strat. Just like hitting people on hooks, head nodding/twirling at or on hooked survivors, stutter-following slugged survivors, and KILLER teabagging is not a viable game strat...but they fail to mention ANYTHING about killers in that regard and ONLY address survivor behavior. THIS IS BIAS.

You actually read the survey? They asked questions about killer too.

You seem really determined to cherry pick eh?

  • Forget about no (and yes), but what exactly do you learn from me answering it?

Its not like I can tell you why or why not the match was fun and with the amount of people who probably use it during extreme cases any information gathered is going to be skewed to all hell.

Edit: Case and point directly below my post (FixDBDPls). Couldn't have asked for a better example.

  • Oof. I'm sorry it sucks to get a penalty for your connection but it also sucks your connection has just put me into a 3v1 game.

  • Reworked but not really the perk itself so much as simply NOT having them be DLC perks.

These perks are for new players and it makes 0 sense as to why they are not in the small list of "general perks" instead of behind a paywall.

Why do you give a f if it is a bully fest or not? You want to practice the Nurse, so just dont care if you win or loose. Play your game, learn the blinks and expect that you will loose.

On top of that, the best way to practice is to verse people who know how to play against Nurse. Getting stomped as a Nurse beginner is totally normal.

Actually its best to learn against people a little above your skill level and slowly move up by adjusting your own flaws.

I would learn jack ######### playing Basketball against top tier pros all the time because I don't know if I'm actually learning basic skills because everything I do ends up failing.

The most toxic gaming community I've been apart of since League... Idk why dbd is a cesspool.

Its because of the "us vs them" mentality that has spread rapidly throughout the community with survivors vs killers. Its honestly the dumbest thing but was never cut from the stem when it was starting and has grown too big.

You also have the mentality of "Devs favorite X side" that just pushes what i said above even more. You also have the arguably "questionable" decisions the Devs have made to the game (regardless of side you favor) that don't exactly inspire confidence.

Then you have the fact that with almost all online "competitive" games people rarely want to blame themselves for mistakes and thus they flame each other at every turn to try and justify their own egos.

    So basically, people suck.

  • @SmarulKusia said:

I often see Killer Mains make the argument of, “if survivors can have keys! Then killers can have Moris!”

but those two aren’t comparable like at all. Killing survivors is the killers objective - that is a fact, as killer, you’re hoping to kill all the survivors in the game. As survivor, your objective is to do gens.

Keys are highly situational to begin with - you’re not even guaranteed to get to a stage where hatch spawns for the player to use the key. A mori - whilst admittedly needing to be “unlocked”, is far quicker to use within a match than a hatch is. You can get a mori kill before 2 gens are done.

Keys aren’t even commonly ran by survivors - in my hundred of games as survivor, I’ve only escaped using a key probably 5 or so times. As a killer - in my hundreds of games, I’ve only ran into two games where a key was actually used in game.

Moris can be achieved in-game quicker and end the game quicker - they don’t take up a necessary spot in the kit as they come as an offering. With a key, you have to wait till end-game essentially to use the item, which is a part of the game that you’re not even guaranteed to reach - on top of the fact that it takes up an item slot.

these are not comparable at all. I hate seeing the argument that they are when they’re blatantly not

I care not for the endless argument of "Moris are worst than keys/Keys are worst than Moris".

Fact is they both allow you to skip core mechanics of the game and are detrimental for the overall health of a match.

Put plainly both need to be reworked or removed, simple as that.

Latency in either the actual blind or simply in the score poping up.

  • @MetroSlayer_DC said:

Is survivor's or killers harder to play?

    Would love to know. Really...

Survivor have a very simplistic goal, "do gens".

Killers have a far more complex goal of "stop gens, but also get kills".

As for whats harder to play...well that will ultimately depend on you as an individual. While I would argue killer has a more difficult curve its also not hard by any means.

Where the true difficulty in DBD comes in is player skill/balance. As a new player matchmaking will not afford you an even playing field to learn and practice as you will often get matched with veteran players who will out perform you to the extent you feel utterly helpless.

My advice (especially if you are new) is to not go into your matches with the mindset of "winning" via kills/escapes but rather a goal you set.

For example maybe you want to practice getting better at tracking survivors or you want to learn how to time Billy's chainsaw charge or maybe you feel skillchecks are difficult to hit. Let these goal become the focus of your match and allow these small victory moments to help you improve your overall game one step at a time until you feel confident on a more "competitive" level and feel you can handle situations more skillful players throw at you.

PS: I'm in a hurry so I didn't proof read this, if there are mistake or "run on sentences" you have my apologies.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1232895#Comment_1232895

Thats my point. Its so much easier to not only get blood points as killer, but also double blood points as killer. It shouldnt be that I feel the need to play killer in order to level up my survivors efficiently

Well you answered part of that question "you are not competing for points" but also killers have to constantly use the bloodweb to get add-ons unlike survivors who can get items from chests or items AND add-ons from perks. Heck BHVR even made it so items are guaranteed to be kept if you escape as they can no longer be depleted.

Basically killer has a larger "upkeep" than survivor thus they need to have more BP to compensate. Rather than complaining you feel compelled to play killer to level up your survivors, instead be thankful that you CAN use killer BP to level survivor. It could have been just as easy for behavior to make them two separate BP pools....and that would suck.

  • @csandman1977 said:

When getting the killer blind score event while the killer is carrying a survivor, shouldn't the killer drop the survivor? Or does that only happen during the small pickup window?

If you blind them during the pickup animation it won't drop the survivor, they need to be blinded while they have control of their character. You can time it so the blind kicks in right as this happens to get what is essentially a save the moment they CAN move.

    @AsePlayer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/146401/flashlight-question

You have to time it so the blind happens right as they regain movement. Why? No idea.

Because flashlight saves would be way to easy if you could blind at any point in time, especially when the killer has 0 control over their charter. Hell if it allowed you to flashlight save at any time then the meta would be to simply stand in the open if you knew you were going to go down because you would be flashlight saved 100% if someone was nearby or forced to be slugged if the killer knew.

    Pallets work the same way.

I get that he doesn't have a terror radius. This just goes to the point that borrowed time is not a counter to face camping. Its useless against pig, ghost face, wraith, Myers. Oh wait, you don't have to get good. Just pick from one of the killers I've mentioned!

    Uh....

Ghostface can be broken out of stealth.

Pig only loses her TR if she crouches.

Wraith only loses his TR if he is invisible.

Myers is all about having a low/no TR....that's pretty much his thing.

It sounds like you either need to learn how to coax "facecampers" out of stealth before a save or learn when its safe/unsafe to unhook a teammate. All things that will come with practice as you play more.

All I can think is how do hackers find this fun? To cheat and waste others time and ruining they’re experience? Cause this is all bull to me and just stupid and I really want it to be fixed, damn you know I thought that the new dedicated servers and the 3.7.0 update were gonna be the health of the game but it seems like these hackers are gonna kill it and make the killer/survivor experience not fun.

Pretty sure its a "simple" case of a power trip or "God complex". By cheating in such a way that they dictate what happens and when, they can boost their own feeling of superiority while diminishing that of others.

  • (Take this with a grain of salt, its simply the common info I see getting passed around)

Something between Steam and XBOX is allowing PC players to connect cross-platform. To date it seems no PC players are on PS4.

I'll be Frank. I'm so tired of y'all (BHVR) disrespecting Claudette. I have struggled so hard to put together outfits for my poor baby but y'all really make it impossible. IDK what's worse between y'all incessant need to give her dark tones or dressing her up in these 90s Sisqo dance extra at an after party ass outfits. I would let y'all slide on the 90s style clothes if they were GOOD and FIT HER.

Like I have legitimately given up hope of her getting a yellow sundress or sun dress period. And it sucks because she looks the best is skirts but I guess we're lucky we got that. I know damn well we're never seeing the beautiful wedding dress Claudette model I saw a while back in game. I get why we're never getting the maid cafe outfit that's been floating around because it doesn't match her aesthetic (but neither do 80% of her outfits but I'm not about to get started on that).

I know we're never getting Claudette dressed up as and of the "nerd staples" in reference to Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, hell ANY ######### DND CLASS THAT IS COMPLETELY LEGIT BECAUSE YOU DESIGN YOUR OWN CHARACTERS!

I just...I don't understand why y'all hate Claudette so much. What is it going to take for her to get a complete outfit that matches her personality. She is a quiet mousey girl. Y'all were going in the right direction with the sweater and uniform outfits (the colors just needed to moved around) and then came this clown fiesta of 90s hiphop video clothes out of left field like #########? I thought the horror ended with that belle of ball nonsense where she looked like a prostitute because he makeup was god awful and her hair didnnt fit her frame at all. I had SOME hope with the medice traveler outfit, but know. Here y'all are with the same horrible gown now in gold.

It's not just disgruntled and annoyed ant one point towards the end of the track it sounds like she's singing through laughter. The track is actually pretty long and if i remember correctly there were 5 different mood changes within it. The reason you only ever hear the first 1,2 or maybe 3 is because every time she gets a hit the lullaby resets and the track starts from the beginning. I don't know if you noticed, but due to a bug (or maybe not a bug - i hope it wasn't a bug) the lullaby didn't reset in the most recent PTB so you could actually listen to quite a big portion of the track which was awesome.

Yeah I remember the first time I actually realized her hum changed (back during her release) and I had to stop playing for a second to make sure I wasn't hearing things. Its a really neat little detail that I always thought was a great addition to her character.

Never thought i’d have to talk about it but I guess since it’s become so much of a problem the devs have to ask about it why not. Personally I don’t find it annoying as killer or survivor, as a survivor i’ll teabag to either greet or get the killers attention to occupy them. As a killer if i’m in a chase and someone else teabags they want my attention but I just ignore them, if I get teabagged after getting stunned then I take it as a challenge (no not tunnel -.-).

Let’s say the devs do something about it, what would they do..? If they make where crouching had a cool down it would be kinda dumb because crouching is a way to counter huntress and deathslinger so.

Tbagging is incredibly unfair for the killer!

Not only is it used as a means to remind us (killers) that the majority of us cannot Tbag but its also a direct and unforgivable jab at the lovely British folk that perverts, what is essentially, a device used to create one of life's greatest beverages!

BHVR never should have allowed these "squats of hate" to be animated in their game and I believe it rest squarely upon their shoulders to repay the world for such a reckless error of judgement!

We all have that type of map you hate getting. It doesnt matter if you play killer or survivor you just hate it.

For me it is coldwind farm. I play on low graphics so I can't see anything when walking inside hayfield.

And coldwind farm is pretty much 50% hay.

The worse part it is litterly the map I am Always getting for a godknown reason.

So What map do you hate?

Do you see validity based on upvotes?

The problem with downvotes is that it was abused (as Peanits said) and just generally added more negativity when we don't need it. You can boost upvotes all you want but it does nothing to tear an individual down.

Personally neither bothered me, though I do miss the "Lol" button become most of my stuff is shitpost material ( ._.)

I still think that Windows of Opportunity and Zanshin Tactics should be General Perks tbh.

Why? Do you not think it makes sense to lock perks designed for "beginners" behind payed DLC?

I like the huntress for snipes and mindgames the only bad thing is when she ran out of hatchets and you are in a mindgame that is bad becouse you move slower than the other killers (it's statisfyng reloading hatchets when you have 0)

Which killer do you prefer between these ones?

If you want you can comment your choice

  • Its Demons....I've seen this before.

  • Forum rules blah blah blah

Look if your side is true then I seriously hope it gets properly looked at because that's not right (getting reported I mean)

I won't go into a long discussion because I wasn't there and don't have the full picture from both sides but I hope things work out for you.

I still wonder why All Hallow's Eyes is still only available for the original 3 Killers...

Or why Pink Valentine eyes haven't been released yet!

    @Peanits said:

He was released after the winter gifts were given out, so there's no way he could possibly have some. There's always a chance he'll get some this year, though.

Hey, it's me again. And no, I'm not going to make a thread about how Killer is Easy this time around ^^; (I still think it's relatively easier than how it should be but that doesn't matter now.)

Decisive Strike, Object of Obsession, Sprint Burst, Dead Hard.

No One Escapes Death, Pop Goes the Weasel, BBQ & Chili, Sloppy Butcher.

These 8 are just a few of the perks that are currently in the game's meta, and each of them helps us win the game in some way or another. Whether it being to make the killer miss a swing and chase for another loop with Dead Hard, bait them with Sprint Burst, bait them with Object of Obsession, surprise Survivors with NOED, break generators with PGTW, find them hiding with BBQ, and so on.

All of these perks are powerful, and no doubt are a must for any build is tailored to making your victory that much more easier to obtain. But what if these perks are locked away from you? And you have to choose from the various other perks that doesn't quite make the cut?

What perks do you use that helps you win, but isn't a part of the meta?

I'll start, it's probably one that some of you might not expect me to run:

    https://gamepedia.cursecdn.com/deadbydaylight_gamepedia_en/0/0e/Distressing.gif?version=d6c4343400d26ecfc54767e95c47a1c1

    Distressing

Your horrifying emanation strikes at a supernaturally long distance.

Your Terror Radius is increased by 22/24/26 %.

    Gain 100 % more Bloodpoints

for actions in the Deviousness Category.

The Bonus Bloodpoints are only awarded during the Trial.

    "Bask in their fear."

    Yeah that's right, Distressing.

Here is the thing, three of the killers I usually play are The Oni, The Doctor and The Spirit. The Doctor, for obvious reasons, can get a lot of mileage from Distressing. His Static Blast and huge Terror Radius would allow him to find out where exactly Survivors are hiding (if they are not hiding in lockers).

But The Oni and The Spirit requires a bit more explanation.

Whenever I play Oni, I always run Infectious Fright. It's just too good of a perk not to use with him. It helps notify me of Survivors that are inside my Terror Radius while I am in Wrath Mode. Which in turn, allows me to hunt them down and Oni-smash them with Demon Strike. Since Oni's power is depleted everytime he picks up a Survivor, having something like Infectious Fright is really useful. Which is why I run it alongside Distressing which would give me a ton of information on where Survivors are at near me.

As for The Spirit. Well, you know how Survivors often run away once they hear her vacuum cleaner coming nearby? Yeah well, they can't hear that if they are inside your Terror Radius. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten gen grabs with this tactic. Even when they know that I am playing Spirit. I know that it is a jumpscare for the survivors because they don't immediately struggle after getting grabbed. Distressing increases her Terror Radius, as such it increases the area of which they are unable to hear her vacuum cleaner.

This one perk, that most people use in Meme Builds is the one perk I always look out for in the Bloodweb. Because it's just that good for the killers I primarily play.

This is why I am making this thread, because I am curious what are some perks that aren't meta that really helps you guys win games as either a Survivor or a Killer and why. Maybe I get to try out some of those perks myself :P

    Skill.

Something many seem to lack. 😎
