Devour Hope does have a haste buff to it. You get a increased movement speed after hooking someone for like 10s or something. Its in the perk description.

A rather simple question, but I'm sure there could be some interesting answers to this. Mainly because people often clamour how sometimes old versions of Killers & Perks are better (Like OG Freddy or OG Ruin).
All of these things are changed for a reason, which is why I'm curious to ask what you would return to the game if you could and for what reason.
I want to experience that feeling of truly being scared and amazed by a game mechanic.
Nothing has come close to the fun I had the first few weeks of Pigs release.

Oh chill. She didn't say anything bad at you why are yours so asid? Also read carefully what she wrote in the post and later say that she writes poorly
Assuming you felt Orion was "rude" to me in this reply please note that I never viewed their response as rude or aggressive.
One of the biggest things to do when reading a post is to always read it in a calm voice, especially with how toxic these forums can be. If the voice in your head sounds mad when reading then the words you read will sounds mad. I do not in any capacity see Orion being rude in this reply, they are simply explaining why they believed the OP was speaking in terms of "written poorly" and the title was indeed changed from the time I made my reply.
I can also defend Orion under the assumption of possibly "not reading" all the other posts as often I just read a few then answer one that catches my attention. As someone who reads far to many threads a day, a passing glance is the fastest way to get around.
PS: This too was typed in a calm mindset and isn't to be rude or poke fun at you at all. This is why its always important to never add a vocal tone to what you read. (^.^)

It's fine as it is. I really wish survivor's would learn to play the game, as opposed to crying for various mechanics so they can still win without using any skill or strategy at all.
Actually the idea of having the button be held or "auto struggle" extends far deeper than simply "Git Gud". There are many people who physically cannot keep pace with the button tapping and this would be a QOL change for them. I also dislike how dedicated servers can screw you over even while you are hitting the button.
The OP is far from alone in wanting to see this change as it should have been implemented ages ago, not just because the server can mess you up but for those who cannot physically press the button as required.

I'm talking cheap looking masks that resemble the characters but are not so detailed as to be a face swap.

So you don't know the story, but feel like you can judge it anyway, OK...
Here's the TL;DR version of it:
-Born in the 1800s
-Son of a slave
-Became a painter
-Fell in love with a white woman
-Baby out of wedlock
-Town gathered for a lynching
-Town cut off his hand with a rusty saw
-Town covered him in honey
-Bees stung him to death while the town chanted "Candyman"
-Body was set on fire
Now you know. Now you can judge.
I'd argue pedophile Freddy was worst.
Candyman was mercilessly tortured yes, but it pales to what Freddy did to kids before death.

"I bet you play on console cause nurse was so hard to use on console..."
I'm sorry, who?
Jokes aside yeah the addition of blink charge made Nurse so much more difficult on console but the thing that drives me absolutely nuts is that anytime I start to practice with Nurse again BHVR somehow breaks everything about her with a patch.
We have so many map "dead zones" that you cannot blink through, blink bugs that have persisted for ages, bugs that remove your power completely, a lunge issue after blinking...and...so...much...more. She is a killer that has such a different impact on the game from PC to console and I wish they wouldn't butchers her to the point of non-existence on console.

No mither does not help against the oni
I'll admit I may be incorrect about this but when Oni first came out I know you never left blood orbs when running No Mither.
As I never really use the perk my testing/knowledge is very outdated.
-
DBD Year 1 - Dabbled in solo survivor played mostly killer
DBD Year 2 - Played a decent amount of SWF and slowly left killer behind
DBD Year 3 - Played close to 50/50 Solo survivor and killer
DBD Year 4 - Same as year 3.
The past 2 years however I have played significantly less DBD than my first 2 years. While I like to keep up to date on the game by playing both sides its primarily casual matches or gimmick builds.
-
I'm saying the mist not because I find it effective in current DBD, but back in the day you could stack mist with 4 survivors (and killer for extra bonus) to make the smoke solid black. It became impossible to see anyone crouching unless you were right on top of them. Killers like Hag couldn't see more than a few feet in front of them and survivors couldn't see Hag most of the time.
If Ghostface existed during these days he would have truly been the king of jumpscare!
I had so many good laughs with this.
-
I think its very toxic.
If I was to offer advice to any survivor it would be to wiggle your tbagging bottoms over to a hook within view of the killer and await your punish- ah reward for being nice.
Besides I've fallen through the map plenty of times, I can guarantee you nothing good is down that hatch.

I'm talking about slippery meat, its the only perk in the way that is only useful againts a specific killer, and that is trapper, why not have a specific perk for every killer but trapper only?
Well you got the answer to why this perk mentions bear traps specifically but you do have perks that pretty much negate/reduce a killers power.
Calm spirit vs Clown/Doctor
Iron will vs Spirit
No Mither vs Oni - although this is a double edge sword
While these perks were not designed specifically to negate a killer power they work exceptionally well vs specific killers regardless. I'm sure there are more examples, though I feel they may be more "niche".
Edit: My knowledge on No Mither vs Oni may be outdated, but it was the case you never left blood orbs during his release (bug or intentional I'm not sure).

i just had a match and If i didn't save this bill he would've died i saved him and he still died shortly after the killer got stuck in a pallet of course me being kind i helped the killer get free. then after the killer let me go and the game went back to normal. 3 survivors left Jake on a gen (acted like a rank 17) was just working on a gen while i was in struggle and the other was getting killed. in end game chat everyone was angry at me because i "threw the game twice" 1 letting bill die (he was gonna die regardless) and letting the killer free.
These people would rather have the killer be stuck all game so they can win. like really? that's just a walkthrough and no point or fun. whats the point of even being in that match. the game is about 4 survivors and 1 killer not 4 suvivors holding M1 all game
i don't understand why a lot of people are so mean and awful in this game it honestly blows my mind like everyone loses their respect like is it worth being awful to other people over a game? like i know a lot of people don't treat people like that in person, it isn't really different this time they're just behind a screen trying to play a game xD

So been playing this game for a while. I've seen strategies come and go. Gotta say, this new trend doesn't make much sense to me.
Past couple days I've taken to catch some of my Survivors back up in terms of getting perks unlocked, and some of the strategies that the Killers have been employing honestly don't make much sense to me in context of what this most recent patch entailed. That is to say, true camping and true tunneling despite the fact that this patch was meant to increase the ease of a Killer chasing a Survivor around loops.
For context, I don't consider, "Hey I spotted this person near a hooked person so I'm not going to leave" or "This person is looping near the hooked person" camping. Those are legitimate cases for a Killer to not leave a hooked Survivor and I understand that. Also for tunneling, I don't mean "This guy got unhooked a ways away from me, and he charged headlong into me, so I mean... whatcha gonna do?"That's not tunneling, that's either Survivor stupidity or unlucky.
No, what I'm talking about are Killers that don't move more then 16 meters away from the hooked Person. Killers that are doing nothing but standing at the exact line for Devour Hope range, and camping that spot and not moving. Then when a rescue happens, charging back in and tunneling the crap out of the freshly unhooked person. Stealth Killers that are camping cloaked nearby so as to counter Borrowed Time and tunneling the hooked people.
Obviously, these strategies existed long before this patch, and have been used somewhat frequently to varying results based upon the teams you're taking on. But with this recent patch, for reasons I don't comprehend, in a patch dedicated to making looping for Survivors harder, these strategies are basically all I run into. Not that ranking really matters given how great matchmaking has been as of late (see however many topics bitching about THAT little nugget), but I am red rank and I've just been seeing this influx ever since that patch went into play.
My question is why? Not necessarily "Why camp?" but more in the regards of, "Why are more people doing it despite this patch being specifically designed to chase Survivors and finish generators slower?" If anyone has context into this I'd greatly appreciate a legitimate explanation beyond, "1u1 g3t gud scrub!" It just makes about as much sense to me as Pig players who actively tunnel people wearing reverse bear traps....
If the multitude of new forum accounts are to go by then I would assume its a influx of newer players who are bred to be toxic from the get-go.
I mean you see almost non-stop toxic forum posts, in game messages, YT behavior, etc etc.
This is simply a assumption as to the increase in such activity.

If the game wasnt meant to have increased FOV, then why is it a perk, and why is that perk bad. People dont run shadowborn because it gives them an advantage they run it because it's a comfort perk. Also not sure what you meant in your first point.
Killer has extended FOV perks that only go so far and do not grant you the ability to look over blind spots/object sight breakers. The perks were created with such things in mind.
On survivor you do not have FOV increases for the above reasons. You can see (multiple video evidence on YT) that increasing survivor FOV extended your view beyond game design intentions granting information that directly affects gameplay.
This will be my last post as I really don't care to have an exhausting "back and forth" with a stranger on the internet. You do you.

Dude I covered this in the original post
1. Who cares about such a minor advantage that everyone can use
2. Having a higher FOV is an advantage in every fps so why did dbd decide to lock theirs
Yes and I responded to that.
1: Just because you can change it doesn't mean "everyone has to do it or suck it up", its locked for a reason.
2: I don't know their reasoning but the game was designed with the pre-set FOV in mind and was clearly not meant to be changed, hench why increasing the FOV ruins so many blind spots/object sight blockers.
Everyone can install a cheat engine too, that doesn't mean its alright to do.

Exactly. And it wouldn't look like #########, if the devs would do something about it so that people wouldn't have to do this on their own. Like you said, just add min max to the settings, and it's done. But, you know, we can't even get proper setting for other stuff, so don't get your hopes up.
Problem is the game wasn't created with stretched screen in mind (hence the FOV lock) and thus doing so creates an advantage over the people who aren't doing it. It would be a different story in the game offered a FOV slider because they would most likely have designed "blind spots/objects" that were not exploited by an increased FOV.

Spirit is a very short killer, she just doesn't look it because of her character model (she stands up straight, her hair stands on end, and she doesn't have any obvious disfigurements like Hag). But with pallet blinds, it's not about their height but their animation: Freddy and Pig are both the same relative height, yet they don't avoid the pallet blind.
Still, I don't think the Devs want people to play differently when it comes to game fundamentals. I'm surprised Clown's pickup animation hasn't been fixed either, unless it was and I just happened to miss it.
Oh I'm not against them fixing the blinds for consistency sake, I just think it would be neat if killers had small little differences in how you approach situations. Now NOT being able to blind them is clearly not ok, but if smaller killer simply required different angles it would be another neat little thing to learn.
-
@CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:
I don't know if this is a bug or not, but it is noticable. As a spirit player flashlights are almost irrelevant to me because they need to wait more in order to blind me, so not only they waste time and charges, but they also waste distance and in some scenarios I get a free hit. Will this be changed? I feel kinda bad :/
Hag has the issue because of how low her camera is on the character model and I personally think its a neat thing with Hag.
Spirit I find odd because she isn't a small/short character. I do think she needs to be looked into when it comes to flashlight blinds.
If they wanted to make small/short killers have a different flashlight timing that would be neat but it'll need to be consistent, this is why Hag doesn't bother me.

Now that their Archives is out, I feel like there's no better time to talk about one of the biggest and most concerning issues of Dead by Daylight. The massive disconnect between player opinion of power, primarily focused on kills, and balancing around the Emblem system. How DO you balance a killer around that?
And yes, I am 100% aware that this will become a semi-negligible point with the MMR system. Not that we know how it all works.
Oh, Legion. The idea of a spread damage killer seemed to be a natural progression for this game. Chaining injuries together and keeping Survivors occupied with injuries seems like an excellent way to both force Survivors off generators, away from each other and even prevent tunnelling in a way. Not to mention, they're actually pretty fun to play as, or at least I find them to be.
They are also extremely good to rank up with, since Feral Frenzy is a non-lethal power unless Survivors let it be, with built in tracking too! Very fast and multiple hits, starting and "winning" multiple chases, keeping people off generators. Gatekeeper, Malicious and Chaser all LOVE this style of gameplay making the Legion one of the easiest killers to rank up with.
So, what's the problem? Well, there's multiple here. At the cost of having such a non-lethal chase power, that relies on Survivor proximity, you're going to experience two major problems: It's really hard to get downs/kills in some games, and Survivors learnt that splitting up for generators is way more efficient.
Let's start with downs/kills. You're essentially forced to give up having a power in order to down people, and literally become "The Standard Killer" with a lower camera, that comes from your Medium size. You have nothing besides mind-games and Survivors making mistakes. Your average Survivor will eventually make a mistake, but who knows about their teammates? Your power gave you pressure in the form of Deep Wounds, them now being injured and tracking in the form of Killer Instinct. You've lost all that, but you have now hooked a Survivor.
There are also some Survivors who don't care in the slightest if they're injured, because Resilience and Dead Hard are both perks, and perks that require you to remain injured. Feral Frenzy has no effect on players with these perks, other than a mild inconvenience. I don't run these perks myself, but I'll HAPPILY eat a Feral Frenzy stab if it means that you'll run off to hit someone else. Iron Will also negates the fact that you have tracking when their injured, even with a quality headset. Staple Survivor perks completely counter some of the things that make you strong, but some of these perks are actually pretty rare these days.
Survivors have also learnt one crucial detail about generators and the Emblem ranking system. You don't get any bonus emblems for working on generators together and unless someone has Prove Thyself, it's quicker to split up and cover more ground since the killer can only be in one place at a time. And that Emblems are also super easy to get, especially since Benevolence is shared. This has somewhat lead to the infamous "Gen-Rush" meta that some killers have said before, and this is my observation as to why that is. It started with Discordance and Legion.
So, one Survivor gets chased and all 3 of his buddies jump on different generators, since early on we exposed ourselves as the Legion and these guys have a basic understanding of his power. There are now probably 3 people working on separate generators, and we have only hit ONE person with our power. Get the down eventually and 2 generators in different quadrants light up. And now unless you dedicate yourself to setting up a 3-gen, then your power isn't going to help much.
Admittedly Survivors are forced in closer together as more generators get done, but they will still have a large strength advantage with their numbers and relative lack of hooks. You will get your emblems, and if you're at Yellow/Green ranks, you can easily get a double-pip even with only one kill. But who cares about their rank?
It seems like most Killers in this game, and especially on these forums champion the idea that kills make the killer MORE THAN the Emblem system highlights all the parts of being a killer. Is it more satisfying to get kills? Yes. Yes it is. And this is the main problem that comes from Legion. Their statistics in terms of emblem gain and kills are fine, but the community perceive them as quite weak because they aren't very efficient with how they achieve their kills and it's harder to achieve that "all important" 4k result.
With the core design of Legion's power being one of the Divide & Conquer strategy, and keeping people injured or mending promoting massive gains in the Emblem system, as opposed to raw killing power, then there will always be a divide between the community and the balancing team. There is no balancing the Legion in this regard because what the wider community want is not what the Legion provides. They still have a large and loyal fanbase, though, and while I am not strictly one of them, I see the appeal of how the Legion operates and performs in the right hands.
And again, I love playing as the Legion on occasion, but with how the community perceives a Killer's relative power, I don't think that the community (as a whole) will ever be happy with the Legion and that is The Legion Problem.
Make unique killers fun again.
Can't really argue with how you explained and presented "Legion in a nutshell".
While I have transitioned to a more gimmick/casual playstyle myself (been around since day 1 release) I understand the mindset of kill ratio = powerful killer. After all you're not much of a "killer" if all you do is stab and run without actually getting kills.
I also think Legion is pretty fun and his current power would be a nightmare to balance if it gets buffed.
Now since we are starting to see map sizes get changed to be smaller and infinite's are making a nice exit we may see Legions ability to spread his Feral frenzy become a bit more powerful by default. If this is the case Legion may actually gain the "stall" his power was meant to deliver during a match and this could possibly work to netting him/her more kills on average. I'm doubtful this will be a massive change but maybe it will push them into an actual "killer" and less of the "edgy teens" they are now.
Either way I'd love to see killers like Legion see some love because regardless of how powerful they may be I find many of the "non-lethal" powers very fun. In fact I think I have way to much fun with Ghostface and his crouch/lean ability, not even for stalking, but to just get jumpscare and funny moments where you peek and vanish.

Killers really shouldn't be able to see survivors' names in pre-game lobby. Some killers love to get their sick kicks by tunnelling/mori-ing survivors whom they've played against before.... and it's really disgusting and unfair. I played a game yesterday where a Spirit recognized one of my teammates and took a mori.... my teammate asked them why they used it and they responded very nastily. I guess they hated me as well because I agreed with my teammate, because I played against them again today and they took an ebony mori and proceeded to trash-talk me in end-game chat.
I see no reason for killers to see survivors names in the lobby, since all it does is allow killers to hold grudges and target people whom they don't like.... be it for crouch-spamming/flashlight clicking, or simply outplaying them, or having a certain NAME (TTV comes to mind). It's especially injurious in the red ranks, since I find myself being matched with and against the same people often. And I know, you wouldn't be able to find out if you were playing against a SWF by looking at their friend list, but many people already have private profiles and it really doesn't matter if you know or not.... and besides that, I think that being targeted by the killer for any of the reasons I stated above is far worse than playing against a SWF (since SWFs aren't personally targeting the killer with their antics, they're just doing it in general.... AND you can still win against SWFs), since mine and my teammates games are ending in less than 10k points across the board, and definite de-ranks.
I think it would be great if the portraits on the bottom left-hand of the screen only had the characters' names.... e.g. Nea 1, Nea 2, Jane, Quentin, e.t.c.. And you would only be able to see their names in end-game lobby, just like the way killer's name is only shown in end lobby. For reporting purposes, the character the person was playing would be attached to the end of their name, like "SteveMain31 (Steve)". 😏
The next step would be for the killer to not be able to see survivors in the pre-game lobby.... so you could use the cosmetics you bought and liked without being targeted with toxic behavior! It's pretty sad that people actually get offended at cosmetics, characters and names, but I firmly believe that steps need to be taken to minimize the impact of these salty killers.
Even as a survivor you can see the killer on console (PS4 at least) by simply going into the "currently playing" list and viewing your own game. The name that doesn't match your survivor teammates is the killer.

You failed to tombstone everyone.
For some reason you also closed the hatch.
Now the last survivor dies to EGC.
It's not their fault you didn't get the achievement. They don't have to die by the way you want them to die. They have every right to go out on their own terms if death is inevitable.
Are you also saying I should just crawl out in the open and let the killer hook me if I'm slugged on the ground as the last survivor, with EGC ticking, when it was THEIR FAULT to lose me in the first place? Just so they can get a merciless victory and the adept achievement?
No, because it's their problem. If I can die in a way that denies my opponent points, to punish them for a mistake, I am going to do it because it's their fault they didn't track me to put me on a hook. Just like it is their fault they didn't tombstone me.

This sounds entirely like a "you" problem and isn't the responsibility of your opponents to give you add-ons or tell you what to do with your time.
Don't forget the people you are playing against might be going for an adept achievement, or maybe the "don't get hit and escape as the last person" obsession achievement. Your goals and your fun do not supersede theirs. If you want to stress over every single achievement that's a "you" problem.
So again as I said the killer doesn't "deserve" the achievement simply" because" but i also pointed out the fact that the survivor is clearly doing this out of spite. even the reason you listed in your response "No, because it's their problem. If I can die in a way that denies my opponent points, to punish them for a mistake" is exactly my point, its out of spite.
You may argue for or against if you think its morally right or right in the context of the game all you want( I really care not what your stance on such a matter is, and that's not my point) the fact still remains its done out of spite.
