Im currently at the Challenge Dwight the Brave (hide within 10m of the killer for 60 seconds as dwight WITHOUT getting caught) and its not possible to achieve this challenge without ruining the game. Why?

    • When you are doing a generator and try to hide when the killer is coming you maybe get like 4seconds before either the killer leaves or caught you
    • You have to run behind the killer all the time at best directly behind him and hopefully the system doesnt let this count as ''caught''
    • You also have the possbility to camp a hooked killer when he killer is running arround unhooking him and then watch how your teammate gets sacrificed.
    • its not possible to do this challenge with certain killers ua. Wraith, Hag because they are too fast or it doesnt really count.

Im currently at my 11th attempt without success and will propably spend A LOT of bloodpoints till i get iron will because its annother perk besides spinechill to actually help get it.

I would rather have the timer to 30 seconds so its much easier and healthier for the game otherwise we will have a lot of dwight to the end of the current trial who are propably just hiding and trying to not get caught by the killer which leads to 0 gens, a lot of ingame boldness actions which would also lead to no gen progression.

What is your opinion about it currently?

I didn't have an issue with hiding for 60 seconds. I just ran my blendette and had no issues playing hide and seek.

Toxic squads are groups of survivors who's only goal is to be the biggest ######### to the killer, and win the game by forcing the killer to D/C either through harassment, or exploits.

I recall having about 11 squads.

In that case...everyday since I am part of one.

Honestly, it's not as bad of a perk in soloq as it's made out to be. Of course, a lot depends on how you use it. If every time you get hit you run to the corner of the map to SC with mangled and 4 stacks of thana, then it basically becomes the killer's 5th perk.

However, if you self-heal when a reset is really needed, then it's a dependable perk. Bond is really no substitute, because in soloq you never know who you get on your team. Even as a killer main, I lost count of the times I needed a heal and a teammate obliviously ran away or straight-up refused to patch me up.

Inner Strength is superior in theory, but then again there are times where you can't find a totem for the life of you. Medkits are great, but your stash will run out, eventually.

I ran right up to a survivor once and they refused to heal me...guess doing the gen was more important. They ended up getting hooked and as punishment we refused to unhook them and let them die as we escaped.

  • @Dzeikor said:

This perk is literally garbage and loses you matches especially in soloq, when I see rank 1 survivors using self care, doing nothing the whole game except healing themselves because they never heard about bond or medkits,or searching chests, literally anything else is better for healing.Sloppy buthcer is kind of a meta perk and counters self care so hard it hurts.

I use SC on my smurf as I don't have inner strength...hoping IS appears in the shrine some day.

Both of these items are extremely outdated and take the fun away from the other side when used. There's nothing enjoyable about getting tunneled off hook and taken out of the game right off the bat, or when you're playing killer and all the sudden the game just ends because they had a key. I know that mori's are big selling points for their new killers but I would not mind at all if they just deleted those and keys from the game.

If you don't want to have a Mori you can simply leave the game before it loads as 99% of the time it will be a Mori and not that shroud of separation. Often the mori is the Cypress one and more times than not the killer doesn't even get to use it. I rarely see keys but do a 3-man key escape right in front of some killer's face...priceless.

  • Only perk I run you listed is Detective's Hunch as it helps with Inner Strength. Let Behind is good though...especially with a key. Have used it a few times and escaped more times than not.

  • I sure wish we could block the camping/tunneling jerkweeds...but then who could I flame in post game chat?

  • No. Dikembe Mutombo.."not in my house...no no no!"

they care about money, every balance change they make is just a band-aid, devs are unreliable for every actual fix (see matchmaking where they're not even trying to understand the issue, rather changing the whole thing, or nurse, never been touched again because it's not a survivor priority and nobody uses her anymore), bugs like ghost chainsaw are still in the game, they promised dedicated servers without having any skill required and now dedicated servers are one of the major problem of the game (like every killer got a new bug due to servers).

if you want to have fun in this game you need to understand two thing:

    1. devs are incompetent, skill-wise and game knowledge-wise;
    2. you're gonna certain games, no matter what you do, because that's how game works, that's how devs want the game to work.

The point about the devs is spot on. Think Noob3 called them rank 20 developers.

Not per se. Take a powerful killer with some nice perks and let some fool play and get just owned by a skillful set of survivors. On the other hand, an awful no perk killer against a bunch of potatoes and you get the exact opposite. But some killers are overall weak and if you don't have perks (and skill) you will be owned. Trapper takes time to set up for example. What if you have a Task Force Blue 4-man swfs, all with gen rush perks and high end tool boxes with add-ons. By the time you get any one hooked there are only two gens left. I'd argue some killers do indeed need perks to do well...trapper and the wraith being two of them. Demogorgon, Oni, the Deathslinger, the Pig too really, the Clown among others....yeah. Why most people at high ranks play just a few killers...how many times at the Red Ranks have you see the Demogorgon?

  • I wish the totems would stack. Say you've done totem one...I run detective's hunch too...then you find totem #2...do you do it or save it for if you need it and risk it not being done and that annoying perk NOED activating? I just do every totem I find even if I don't need them for IS because I'd rather risk not having a totem to heal with than having that crappy NOED being alive.

  • If you get three gens done in 3 minutes then you are obviously trash and not doing what needs to be done to stop that. I play in 4-man SWfs and killers do find ways to stop us...and since they nerfed tool boxes gens are in no way even faster than before. There are various perks you can use to put on pressure and there are killers are better at pressure than others. If you have a no perk trapper against a Task Force Blue four man swf...yeah expect to get smashed.

I gotta be honest here, you would have to be some kind of DbD savant to get to rank 8 or Rank 5 in 20 hours. That is 60 pips from 20 to 8, that is 3 pips an hour, and you pretty much can play 3-4 rounds an hour. So you would have had to pip nearly every single match to clear this number and more for the survivor. As a brand new player. I am VERY sceptical that this happened, this way.

Ranking is crap though, especially because it is so much easier for a survivor to pip over a killer. So you get a big difference in ability in the same "ranks". A rank 4 survivor may very well be on par with a rank 10 killer. I think it either needs to be harder for survs to pip or easier for killers so the ranks actually meant something.

I haven't been on my Smurf in weeks and I do have 2000 hours + in game. I went from 17 to 12 in maybe 10 hours. I could probably go from 20 to 8 in 20 hours because if everything worked as it should I'd be playing killers with 15 minutes in game and rank 20 with no perks. But if I started as a rank 20...a real rank 20. Yeah be pretty hard to get to rank 8 in less than a day in game. I'd agree pretty doubtful.

  • "This game has so bad new player experience, it literally punishes new players for playing the game decent amount in a short time by putting them agaisnt top tier players."

No...it'll do the exact same to a person with literally 60 seconds in game with no perks and match them against a rank 1, rank 1, rank 3 and rank 4 with a combined 10,000 hours in game. Now as a survivor I literally love such a game where I can literally bully the killer right into the ground...but somehow I don't think it is very much fun for him...not that I care about a killer's fun...but just for a fairness stance...well sucks to be him.

  • @DelsKibara said:

It's perfectly normal to feel a little anxious when playing Killer, purely because you are all alone against 4 other players. 🙂

As for you facing Red Ranks, the devs are currently working on an alternative matchmaking method which would match you with players who are equally as skilled as you. So you won't have to worry about them in the near future.

And if you actually believe that I have some nice beach front property east of Miami Beach you might want to consider buying.

  • @Meksagon said:

In identity V surviors get punished if they rescue badly ( they get terror shocked which means that they instantly go down, but there is still alot of counterplay to it )

In dbd rescuer has i-frames even if you clearly hit him and deathslinger spear goes 99% trough the rescuer or teleports to the unhooked who ofc got borrowed time.

Give killers a chance, we already have to go trough second chance perks, 20 second= 1 gen rushes, no counterplay unhooks.

PS. fix the ranking system, ive had like 60 hours playtime and im only facing agaisnt 2k+ hour surviors who got tier 3 best perks.

Killers have plenty of chances as it is. Not to mention all the scummy play like hook camping.

It has been stated over and over on the forums and even on the most recent 4th anniversary Dev Stream (worth the watch) that the Devs are working on a new Ranking and Matchmaking system. They already have a new algorithm that is currently collecting data on players in certain regions. They hope to have it ready soon, like within the next month or two.

Which in reality will be this. They will get rid of the ranking system so you won't see how messed up it continues to be and instead have this back office match making you can't see which will just be as bad and unless you then take the time to look at their profiles after the game have no clue how badly the mismatch was....you are still going to have people with 15 minutes in game playing four people with 2000 hours plus. Rank 10...he should consider himself lucky. I've seen all reds playing a perkless rank 20 in his very first game ever. It was pretty fun for me making him look like a complete fool...but bet it wasn't so much fun for him.

    • What is the killers rank usually?

    • What are the biggest Mistakes the killers do that play against you?
    • What are your most common mistakes that could cost you games?

Im really interested in wht you guys will say :)

I tend to be rank 4-5, the others, 4-5, 9-10, 15-16. I use Fixated, Inner Strength, Detectives Hunch, and Balanced Landing. Depends on how good the killer is...sometimes none, sometimes all, typically I'd say on average 3 of us escape. As for the killers themselves it depends again on skill...a noob with Spirit will be owned by us, but a high skilled guy with say Demogorgon can get a 4K. But we usually bully nurses to death mostly because those who play her are awful at it. As my name suggests I am toxic. One big flaw is killers focusing on chasing one of us and they have no hope of catching them. Had a killer chasing one of my friends 5 feet away as I did the last gen...he obviously knew I was right there and did nothing to stop me...everyone escaped. I tend to get killed by going out of my way to save one of my friends...a typical flaw of SWFs.

I have a friend who uses a smurf account and some of his friends do too. I don't play with him when he swaps over since it does genuinely feel scummy and just compounds the unfairness of matchmaking, and I can't say for sure how common it is, but unfortunately it's still a thing people do.

he'd say it's just because red ranks get stale and exhausting given how hard people sweat, but obviously that ends with him bullying new players essentially for his own satisfaction. like a lot of toxic behavior, it's selfish.

Once I am in the Red Ranks near the end of the season I go and play my smurf (rank 17) for the rest of the season. My smurf doesn't have all the perks I like since my smurf account doesn't have Nancy and Tapp is still level 1 so I don't have Detective's Hunch on my smurf Feng, but still rather fun facing some person with 1 hour in game against my 2000+ in a Benny Hill fun sorta way.

  • @InnCognito said:

There really isn't a smurff thing in this game. We have rank reset every month or so. They Do this on the 13th if I recall right. What happens is everyone has to climb from the very bottom to the top again. So a person will run across players that might not have played in a awhile and then they have to work their way up again.

Part of Rank rest just means that as the players filter on, it takes about a week for the system to normalize. Sometimes longer. If they stagnate the ranks it makes the game significantly worse. It has the pros and cons. But overall I guess it is better than some games that lock the ranks down so nobody can enjoy themselves.

No one climbs from the very bottom from the Red Ranks..on the 13th...all Reds go to Rank 5, all Purples go to Rank 9, all Greens go to 13, all Yellows go to 17, and the whites simply stay where they are. A Rank 1 doesn't fall to Rank 20...not that it matters. I have played in matches where I was a rank 4, the others were a Rank 1, Rank 1 and Rank 3 and we played a perkless rank 20 who had 15 minutes in game.

Im not about to write a whole essay on this , although due to the fact that everyone ins on the internet at the current time i get disconnected almost everyday from a dbd game, its very annoying considering every time it happens now i get a 24 hr ban, Just like 5 minutes ago i was looping a pig for 5 gens, she finally downed someone and left me as i then proceeded to go into her jigsaw puzzle and after completing it nothing happened, i then knew that i was going to get disconnected and banned soon, i dont know what to do to counter this happening since i want to actually be able to play the game and not get disconnected as often.

You must be getting bounced a lot. I have never had more than a 5 minute ban which has included my intentional dcs. At most I might dc once or twice a week and being kicked from the game even less common. Of course last summer before the dc bans...one Saturday the duct tape and bubble gum game kicked me at least ten times in a single afternoon. If the game is bouncing you left and right enough to get a 24 hour ban, yeah that would be beyond annoying.

No, my reply was addressing gen rushing if you read it, I just didn't label it that. Since the ruin nerf, how else are certain killers suppose to slow the game down at the start then? Also, they're KILLERS! There goal is to hook and kill you as fast as possible. that's there objective. There is no playing dirty. It's not dirty when survs gen rush, it's not dirty when survs pallet stun, tbag and blind the killer. It's not dirty when survs use coms, etc, etc. But anything a killer does to get an advantage is dirty and cheap, correct? And if your getting caught, hooked, caught again and mori'd at the beginning of every match (I highly doubt) then yes, my 2nd comment was correct. Get better! Plenty of other people play in the same scenario and still escape. I've gone into matches before w an ebony and didn't even get to use it, because the gens went that damn fast and the team was that damn good.

The goal isn't actually to kill the survivors as fast as possible...unless you are incredibly stupid anyway...doing so will just cost you BPs and Pips...be like you as a survivor just going out and doing gens as fast as you can...no chases, no heals, no unhooks....let's see how that works for you.

  • @MamaEagle said:

I'm sure this is a discussion that comes up from time to time in the forums, And I'm hopeful that we can get a developer to give us a clear answer rather than just a link to the rules as I had read the rules and it doesn't even state going afk is a bannable offense. Now is it bannable for a survivor? Most certainly and it should if it's being abused as it ruins the chances of survivors being able to escape because they are down an active survivor. But a killer? What if that killer is like a Nurse and has to deal with some really sweaty survivor swf's who just taunt and teabag and harass you in game (not saying they harass you in the chat, that's a different story.) Just being an all around mockery of your lack of skill or patience and you as a killer decide to take a bow in the corner? You stare at it so they can no longer get points for running in front of you and leaving your sight, blinding you wish a flashlight and of course you don't have to watch them point and laugh...

If a killer does this then is that a bannable offense? If it's deemed as one can we get an answer as to why? It doesn't hinder the survivors from being able to play the game (especially since their objectives are to do generators and escape.) It doesn't slow the game down (if anything it would speed it up and help them move onto a new game quickly. Finally it would make the killer be able to walk away and take a much needed breather. If you do this and survivors don't know you can do totems and gens (doubtful) and de-pip really that shouldn't be the killer's fault as the killer didn't do anything to hinder that (not to mention, it's 2020... Who still cries about being in red and purple rank? I find the game much more enjoyable around green and yellow rank because people mess around and have fun with goofy builds more often.) Thank you for reading and if your a developer I hope you can give me/us (anyone really who reads this and wonders the same thing) the answer we're all looking for!

One final note, I've noticed that when you play the game regardless of what you do; staring at a corner, chasing and downing survivors as well as hooking them etc etc... You get the same xp regardless as it's based on game length. The only thing affected by not doing as much is bloodpoints if I'm not mistaken

And if you are a Wraith and go AFK the whole game? Everyone would probably de-pip and then had one who not only was AFK for almost the entire game then trapped a survivor on the front porch at Badham...refused to hit the person and forced them to remain on the porch until the EGC killed them off. That is the type person you wish something very very very bad happens to them.

Another? Rank 1, Rank 3, Rank 8, Rank 9...killer again was Rank 20. Works other way too. I am a rank 4, my friends were rank 10, rank 7, forgot that randos rank...killer was a Rank 3.

Funny...there is usually some killer in my game and I don't really see anyone DC. I might dc maybe once a week. In the last week I've seen two dcs--one of which was my own. Of the rare times I ever play killer I literally never see anyone dc. And that is usually for some odd reason someone dc'ing at the very moment they die on the hook for some odd reason.

Funny. I don't crash, so it's not a problem baked into the game..And what's with the 'Felicia' thing? The explanation will probably be as empty as your arguments, but I'm curious.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1273638#Comment_1273638

All I got out of this is 'I disconnect once a day when I tilt, and then random internet issues bring me to the penalty, and that's not fair'.

Have you ever considered...NOT ragequitting & ruining the game for 4 other people? Maybe then you would not hit the DC penalty threshold..

    ..Just a thought..

But as I said; it's the people who ragequit who complain that it's not fair they're punished for ruining the game for everyone else. This proves that point.

If some....uh....guy...slugs all four of you how is dc'ing hurting anyone? I personally...I don't care about four other people...only the other three...the killer...couldn't careless about that one. Obviously not going to dc to hurt the other survivors at any point.

To me it seems the hard part about penalizing camping is creating a penalty that the camper(s) actually care about that doesn't also penalize players who don't do it. How many campy killers actually care about emblem points/rank, for example?

One option, less to punish campers and more to alleviate the blow to the camped survivor: If the killer remains near the hook for too long, then not only does the killer get their emblem penalty, the survivor starts building up Distraction points or something similar. With a bonus added on the longer the killer stays close.

If their BP went to zero and they lost two PIPs they'd care about that.

  • The counter argument Felicia is the game isn't actually stable as much as you'd like to think otherwise.

When someone engages in a rather scummy tactic what do you want me to call it? If it were up to me I'd heavily punish camping by having BP eventually hit zero in all categories for hard camping and a loss of two PIPs...and no never going to happen.

It happens. No game is 100% stable, and if it crashes for you so much that you get a DC penalty, then it's on YOUR end. This game is not THAT unstable.

And if you willingly play a game you know crashes allot, you're basically saying 'My playing is more important than the other 4 players. Deal with me crashing'

So a killer is pond scum now if he uses a perk in the game and it was intended. Does the same go for borrowed time , dead hard delivarance, unbreakable adrenaline or any other survivor perk?

    Yes pure scum.

It sucks but better a few innocents in the DC war than everyone DCing left and right.

It used to be that people DC'd for any reason at all, back before there was punishment:

Hit a Survivor too early into the match? DC

    Down a Survivor? DC

Play a Killer a Survivor did not like? DC

Use a perk (mostly a hex or something else obvious)? DC.

Down a SWF person? 2-3 DCs!

A SWF is the Obsession due to a Killer perk? DC to turn that perk off.

Survivors think you are 'tunneling'? DC

Survivors think you are 'camping'? DC

A map a Survivor does not like? DC.

Survivor thinks you 'don't deserve a 4K'? DC.

Sorry but DCing ruins everyone's game, and if someone's internet is so bad that they DC enough to get punished, then maybe they should look into fixing their problem.

And if they can't? Maybe multiplayer games are not for them. It's selfish in the extreme to say 'I want to play, but I drop signal allot! Just cope with me disappearing from 2/3rds of my matches! I deserve to play, even if it ruins the fun for 4 other people!'

When Xbox didn't have the god awful dedicated servers I'd see maybe 1 dc a day...I still see about 1 dc a day. Those penalties sure did do a trick on those for sure.

Get better internet or don't play or face the DC penalty.

And what about the buggy game just crashing 100% unrelated to your connection? I suppose we can stop playing until they fix all the bugs...when do you expect that to be exactly?

Why is the killer " like a try hard" but the survivors weren't try hards for trying to rescue you

If a killer using insidious hooks someone and then stands behind a wall right next to the hook he isn't being a try hard...he is being pond scum. Had such the other day. Lucky was swf on comms so knew what he was doing. I escaped. Then told him what a great job he was doing as killer.

  • Calling me a survivor main would greatly overestimate the times I have played killer.

Did you get to the part where everybody started clapping and the president gave me a medal?

I must have missed that....I am getting Trump presser fatigue so sorry I didn't get to see that...must have been cool though. Good Job!

For context, I'm rank 10 killer and playing Oni with NOED, Devour Hope, MYC, and A Nurse's Calling - all tier 1.

Game started out more or less fine, got my 3 DH tokens and one kill fairly soon, but I still only had that one kill by the time all the generators were powered. Fortunately, both gates were on the same wall and relatively close. Sucks for the survivors, but there were three of them and one of me, so I didn't feel like I should go easy on them. As luck would have it, my NOED also spawned right between the gates.

I patrolled the gates for a minute or two before the survivors started showing themselves. Eventually I managed to down two of them, with one triggering Unbreakable and running off into the distance to go find my totem (he found DH, but as I said, NOED was right there).

With NC I saw that the one still in the dying state was being healed underground in one of the houses, so I went there and put him down again. Couldn't find the healer, so I just went back to the gates, but I noticed the hatch was also down there.

Fast-forward to the end, I hooked the aforementioned healer on the hook by the house and the two remaining survivors (now both in the dying state) were there. There were no hooks nearby and both were wiggling, so I didn't even try to hook them. I don't like letting survivors bleed out, but they'd made their choice.

As one of them neared death, the other crawled on top of the hatch, clearly intending to jump in before I had a chance to close it. I waited until the last second, picked him up, dropped him off upstairs, and closed the hatch. A few seconds later, he died.

According to this last survivor, it was my fault that they had bled out (nevermind the fact that there were no hooks and that they wouldn't have let me hook them) and that I'd only done it to "ruin their game". He also chastised me for taking two Hex perks and called me a noob, among other insults.

I informed him that I didn't give a ######### about his game, just like he didn't give a ######### about mine, and that if he wanted to be hooked he shouldn't have tried to wiggle free. He didn't seem to understand that killers aren't there to help you escape and have no obligation to let survivors go.

TL;DR: Survivors were downed near the hatch with no chance of hooking them (because they kept wiggling and the hooks were too far away), so I prevented the last one from getting it and he blamed me for his death.

Cool story bro. Maybe you can trade it in for a $1 coupon at McDonalds.

I play both survivor and killer, I'm not talking about hooking someone and being in the general area. I'm talking about being face-to-face, deadass face camping where you refuse to leave the hook the entire time.

Not necessarily a time out or ban potential, but these players should honestly get a giant decrease in something. Lose a pip or two. I shouldn't be losing my survivor rank because a Killer matched in red-ranks has a hook fetish, or have to lose a fellow teammate because of an insecure player.

There is. They lose points, if the others are smart they do gens and leave making them lose even more points and probably depip and if they camped me I'll attack them without mercy after the game. Sadly though, most of these losers don't care about pips or rank so the penalties are useless. And the devs aren't going to do a thing to stop this scummy tactic. So you are just going to have to deal with it. Typically the higher ranks don't camp...typically. Low skill trash....yeah...camp all day.

  • Gen camping what is that? If one gen was a bit far away from the others they could have eventually got one done. Off all the things I've thrown killers' way...gen camping has never been one of them.
