Not here to make a post for people to shame others, just wondering.
I do it every once in a while.
100%...almost without exception. I'd never say anything to some poor rank 20 who has played the game for a total of 15 minutes. Beating up on someone who is obviously new and you far and above outclass them...what's the fun in that? Only exception if they were overly scummy then yeah...15 minutes or not, gloves off.

@Peanits can you guys add bigger penalties for disconnecting? maybe lock them from matchmaking for longer or something? i still get a dc almost every other game.
Maybe have them fix the buggy game before they go down that road. I don't know about you but I see a dc maybe at most once a day including my own. If people dc often the penalties get longer. Nothing wrong with keeping it at 5 minutes for people who dc only once in a blue moon. Want longer times because the buggy game kicked them...welcome to Uninstall by Daylight.

Why not just remove the DC button if you dont want people to DC?
Then you can just kill the game instead...same effect. Or as far as that goes just turn off the machine, pull out the ethernet cable, etc etc.

And show me the killer that cares about a survivor's fun? Most I encounter are super Dbags. I have no problem returning the favor in spades.

The last 5 games, i get constant swf who teabag, genrush and spam click their flashlights at me. I just want to do my ######### tome challenges. I'm yellow ranks and constantly getting put against a full red rank team with 4 decisives, dead hard, adrenaline and sabo. I play this game to destress from daily life and this game actually makes it worse.
Every time i start a chase 2 gens get popped. How the ######### am i supposed to win without using noed or pink addons or mori? I regret making that post about noed being bs now, because i completely understand it now.
You think that's bad? How about the poor Hag who was rank 20 and no perks and this was its very first game. He faced a rank 1, a rank 3, a rank 4 and me a rank 4. Needless to say, the Hag's first game wasn't a pleasant one.

So youre willing to throw all your points away and sit through a dc ban just to force the killer into getting a 3k instead of a 4k? Thats one of the most ludacris things Ive ever heard and a wonderful argument on why the dc ban exists 😂
And why you should be wearing a dunce cap 🤷♂️
If you read my earlier post. If I was having a god of a game...no I am not going to dc at that point. If I am going to lose a pip anyway, I can spare the 8K in BP...sure I can wait for the next game for that yellow medkit and bandages addon. And 5 minutes (which will actually be a good deal less as it will take time for my friend to either escape or die) isn't all that great. Not like I dc every other game. Never had more than a 5 minute ban. And you mean ludicrous meaning foolish. Ludacris was a no talent hip-hop artist.

No, you cost him 1 best caee scenario. You dcing counts as a kill. The only time a dc hurts a killers points is right at the beginning of the game, he can slaughter the other three easily, so less points from them as well as less points from whatever he would have got off you.
You quitting in the scenario you gave means you gurantee him the 3k. The 2 that are already dead and you. And i went back and read the op, he was talking about dcing in general because in 99% of situations it benefits the killer and they dont care about that little bit of bp loss
It's another post actually. What is your biggest peeves in DBD where the OP listed as #1 dc'ing to give the hatch. If I can cost the killer a kill by giving the hatch...I'm fine with that.

Why are you so addicted to your teammate that you would give them a free escape...while denying yourself all the points you EARNED?
That's silly.
I might die quickly on a hook if I feel they found the hatch. But I would never DC just to be certain theyd get it...
Depends how well I did. If I was like a god that game and was going to double PIP...probably not going to dc in that case. If I had an awful game and was going to lose a pip anyway and maybe get 8K BP...I can spare the yellow Medkit with the bandages add on frankly. I'd also be more likely to give the hatch to one of my SWFs than some solo.

And this is why the DC penalty exists ladies and gentlemen.
I can spare the 5 minutes. Actually less since it'll take a few for my teammate to either escape or die. I only dc when it makes strategic sense to do so...not like I am dc'ing every other game.
-

And the killer will laugh at you. He still gets his bps and pip points. The better option is to crawl and hide. If you bleed out its TECHNICALLY a draw since he doesnt get any pip points for that (though tbh no killer cares). All you do by dcing is screw yourself
I give my teammate the hatch quicker and if everything works out I cost the killer a sacrifice...actually two...though yes he does get a quitters bonus.
If no killer cares why did the OP list dc'ing to give hatch one of his #1 pet peeves...obviously a good many do in fact care.

They should have this:

I think that it would add to the DC "punishment" and give players a good laugh
If there is a strategic reason to dc...assuming I am not going to give up a great deal in the meantime yes I'll dc...some killer slugs me so he can find the other survivor before the hatch opens....yeah he can expect a dc in his immediate future.

"If the rest of that 97% is nearly all swf than it’s most likelly 2 mans that should be the only way to play together imo. And I don’t think anyone has a problem with those. Only the 3-4 gangs has to go."
Few SWFs even the 3 and 4 man teams are Task Force Blue. You aren't going to stop SWFs even 3 or 4 man ones. SWFs the major part of this game...kill SWFs you kill the game simple as that.

@Gravnos said:
Changing Mori to this is great, but there's something we all need to understand about SWF to keep the game alive.
Mori:
Ebony - Kill all survivors on last hook
Green - Kill 2 on last Hook
Yellow - Kill 1 on last hook (remove last survivor condition)
Now SWF- It's INSANE to think this game would live if you couldn't play with friends. That's just nuts, no normal online game could exist like that. EVERY Game should instead be treated like it is a SWF with friends game. Give survivors the ability to text chat in game, or at the very least more emotes/a ping system to communicate.
THEN you can balance the game. It's impossible to balance a game when half the games could be completely random individual survivors, another being chill SWF just memeing or another elite swat team.
Give EVERYONE the chance to play like that elite swat team, then balance Killers to meet that challenge.
Most SWFs aren't Task Force Blue though. Mostly in my swfs it is just me and one other. As much as I'd love to be on a Task Force Blue squad and bully some killer into the ground...that just isn't us and it's not the case for most swfs. A small minority are 4 man teams, the majority are just two-man teams.
And on Xbox everyone already has the ability to be on chat--assuming you aren't comm banned at the moment. Someone can simply invite the others into a group and preferably everyone in the group is on mic.
-
First killing SWF would probably kill the game. Only way you can really kill SWF is stop the ability to form groups. And you couldn't stop a dedicated team from just lobby dodging until they found their desired group of survivors which was how it was done way back in the day. Moris are fine and if you are really annoyed by them just kill the game before it loads in as 90% of the time when a secret offering appears it will be one of the moris. If they want to remove anything remove insidious it simply encourages some low skill loser to camp as there is a 100% chance someone will go for the save and now that guy has two on the hook. Had one of these "highly skilled" killers the other day but thanks to the killers favorite friend SWF I knew what he was doing, did gens, did my 50/50 routine at the gate and waited for him to close the hatch, opened the gate and escaped and then let him know what a god as a killer he was. He never did reply to my high praise for his be brain tactics...not sure why really.

Disregard the mori. They weren't very good, and I was just going for two trophies involving the offering.
Also disregard my build. I will be swapping out Thrill and Lullaby for Shadowborn and Iron Maiden.
It doesn't always but it is a pretty good indicator. You can have a rank 20 with perks who just hasn't played in forever--saw a rank 20 (with over 2000 hours in game) destroy a swf team who were rank 1, rank 3, rank 8 and rank 9. Then again saw a game I was in as a rank 4 with another rank 4 and a rank 1 and a rank 3 play a Hag who was playing their first game and they got crushed. Overall I'd say hours mean more than rank. You were also a rank 18 with 4 perks all three tier and only one of the people you played was really at all high rank...two of them were basically in your rank class...and having no idea when the others died...even as a high rank if all your friends are dead and it is just you even a low rank killer will have the advantage...especially if the hatch gets closed and you have to try to get that gate opened before either being found or the stupid EGC timer goes off. Play against a team of all 1s on comms and then we'll talk.

I play both survivor and recently killer again but the real fun is in survivor games. Lets see balance the game and see waiting times reduced with more people actually wanting to play killer? It's a symbiotic relationship bud, you can't play survivor without a killer."
Don't really care about killers at all and don't really care about their perspective. I really don't want them to have any fun at all frankly...but hey that's just me.

For BHVR to have no negative to being in a SWF is crazy, then add onto that they play with communications which they have to accept as they can't obviously detect comms makes it beyond crazy.
BHVR's attitude to this in the past was to ignore it and not show the killer or other survivors if they had played an SWF, when starting to play this game I didn't have a clue why I thrashed one team then not another when skill level didn't appear to be the problem.
Now I'm a red rank killer (before the recent Wraith nerf/bug) and understand why but nothing incetivies the killers to play SWFs (mainly on comms).
BHVR appears to be improving their game and would like to suggest two options when the killer plays SWFs, for them to either take an improved BP or for the developing killers a slow down (like thana) imposed only on the SWF players.
I like the idea of SWF by talking with your friends and it shouldn't be taken away but it is at the expense of the killers fun / tryhard sweat and tears. Now I enjoy a challenge facing the SWFs but this can have a negative effect on up and coming players.
First it would be impossible for the game to know if you are on comms. You communicate on Xbox via their own in-house comm system not through DBD, PCs use Discord...hell you could all communicate on a cellphone as far as that went. Secondly, if you want to punish people for swfs...how do you propose to punish the 2 swf and not the two solos as well? Or what about the swfs who aren't on comms? Go ahead and dream but not going to happen. And btw...as a person who plays swfs (mostly 2 man on comms but also 3 man and 4 man ones) the advantage isn't as great as you imagine. I've been crushed in a swf match and I have destroyed killers as a solo. Do you have an advantage as a swf...sure...like being told some loser is camping using insidious, but the advantage isn't all that great. As much as I'd love to be on Task Force Blue and bully killers until they uninstalled the game...sadly we aren't all that. Saw a rank 20 (with 2000 hours in game I'll admit) destroy a SWF last night....rank 1, rank 3, rank 8, rank 9. You give us too much credit. Of course I suppose in your world if you don't get a 4K every time must be something seriously wrong with the balance.
-
What do you mean by that?
-
Not sure when the bans reset, but when I have dc'ed for strategic reasons--e.g. to give the other survivor the hatch say--the bans were reset within 24 hours. If you aren't dc'ing 4 or 5 times a day the reset times seem pretty fair to me. If your Internet is going out over and over yeah you should probably take a break until it calms down, but then there is the garbage servers crashing on you even if you have a good connection...there is that.

@Peanits said:
That's an awfully big blanket statement, and those don't tend to help anyone.
Yes, sometimes people just don't bother cleansing the totems in spite of the match going very well and then get hit by NOED. That's not all matches, though. There are times when the match is really close and they simply don't have time to go look for all the totems. Especially when you've got someone using a strong killer with 3 slowdown/regression perks on a map with very well hidden totems, stopping to go find all five totems is easier said than done and would probably do more harm than good.
To dismiss them all as lazy is a pretty lazy excuse.
Totally agree. I have found totems that without detective's hunch I'd never have seen it. One was literally inside a bush and had to go around it three times with the perk just to find it. Another was inside a bag with the only open side facing a wall, the ones at Dead Dawn are nearly invisible.

Will you continue to buy cosmetics if you can't find a game? Cause keep pushing in this direction and there won't be any killers left. How long do you think your que times will be then?
Actually I think the killers make the money in this game. The survivors are the majority but we all know the licensed killers are what draws people to this game. You think people saw Nancy+Steve and said "Omg I wanna play as Nancy" No they saw freddy, bubba, demi and said i wanna play as him! Then they cried when they realized how broken the game is and they switched to the survivor side.
I didn't come to this game to play killer licensed or otherwise. Only reason I play killer at all is to do some easy Daily or Rift challenges to get basically free BP to spend on my survivors. And I started as Feng and still my main and I have spent a few $ on cosmetics. But I do think Behaviour is being very irresponsible. I have to spend auric cells to get Feng or Yuri a mask with a pandemic going on?

Like ranks mean anything. A rank 3, me a rank 7, a rank 16 and a rank 17 against a piece of trash rank 13. He down one of the low ranks, hooked in the basement. Camped at the bottom of the stairs. I run in jumped off a rock with BT ran toward the basement and see the trash killer sitting down there, I turn and run escape. I do gens. He hooked another one. The rank 3 was able to get one off the hook as he had BT. Finally came down to just me and the rank 3--I had a key...we both escaped. Massive amounts of abuse sent the killer's way after the game until apparently he blocked me...no idea why he would do that really.
So let's say I was rank 5 in the old system. I'd start at 12/3 instead of 9/0, I am now 7/2..so I have earned 12 PIPs since the reset. I'd be rank 9/0 now. If I am getting low rank trash at rank 7...what makes you think I won't get low rank trash at rank 9?
-
I run IS so very much in my interest to do totems and I run detective's hunch to find them better. I have dropped through the hole in the ceiling in the game to find the gen there done and the totem still standing meaning someone or more than someone did a gen and left the totem sitting right next to the gen. But to be fair some totems are put in some pretty bad spots. Once one was in a bag and the open end facing a wall. Another was in a tiny alcove tucked into a wall. The ones at Dead Dawg are nearly impossible to find....so it isn't just being lazy in many cases.

Analogy wasn't perfect but you get the idea
The 5 minute ban wouldn't have bothered them if they hadn't been frustrating themself without end
DC bans should be aplied in this situation too. Too let the people know that playing without a stable connection is not okay.
This post isn't really about that though. It's about a person that let themself get so worked up that a 5 minute wait time let to an angry rant post
If they played they would have had a bad game again. Cause if you're already frustrated. You'll either play bad or view everything the other side does as a personal attack. That's only human
I stand by my notion that if you're having a bad game streak the best thing to do is to step back and cool down for a while
And if you have a stable connection and the game just dc's you because the servers are complete trash? I guess well pretty good job so far.

He didn't say that at all. The trash game crashed on him and then gave him a 5 minute ban. In your analogy it would be like an incompetent bartender who decided to cut you off because he can't remember how to make change. And we aren't talking about losing Internet here either but the trash game crashing.

Ah, so basically lobby dodging through disconnection after the lobby ended, yeah that's way different. No complaints on that then.
I don't know how it works for survivors if they go to the front of the line or not, but I could see them being a little salty about waiting in the queue again if that's not the case.
Just FYI, you realize you killing yourself to give someone the hatch is the reason killer's slug for the 4k now right? Just sayin.
"Not all that concerned about the concerns of killers."
Yes I'm sure anyone who has ever read your username or read your post history is well aware of this fact lol.
We dodged a lobby the other night. Killer had the name like Moriforyou or something like that and pretty sure he did indeed have a Mori. We were loaded back into a game like 2 minutes later. I haven't had any overly long waits as a survivor as of late.

It still gives you a penalty. And the others another queue.
Seriously, except for quitting when stuck in bug, no one should ever DC. What if you manage to escape the mori? Feels great. Hard but possible and you steal yourself the chance. I bring most of my moris when I clear addons and offerings before I prestige a killer. And I don't play like 15 games in a row with a max of 4 hooks. When I bring them, I use them when I get smashed, to keep a chance up to get anything done. Or when someone is being an idiot. And I encountered other killers doing that as well or just mori on third hook. Killers with map pressure bring the shrouds too, to get into chases quicker and to avoid the typical 3man gen squad, finishing a gen in the first 30 seconds of the game. You just throw these games and punish yourself.
Once I had a sweaty spirit slugging the second last survivor, sometimes phasing and I noticed she didn't leave the slug. Just expected me to rush in and then stab me in the back during the next phasing. I ran around, found a key, found the hatch, pointed the slug I found it and dropped the key twice, then waved to show her "come here". Then pointed her away from the hatch so the spirit doesnt find it or me. Next phasing, sneaked out of the closest hiding spot, got her up, took the hit, boosted to the hatch and both escape. That scene wouldn't be possible for either of us if the other one just DC'd because of "bored by slugging". It's these kind of situations I play the game for, not the genrush and Mori off hooks ones.
I don't think it gives you a penalty for killing the game before the match loads. It didn't before, but hard for me to test that now as Xbox doesn't have those god awful dedicated servers.
-
@Kwikwitted said:
How about the fact that it's toxic to your teammates? You know, those other people in the game besides you and the killer?
It's not all about you.
Completely ignoring that it's just dumb to DC when you could easily just die on first hook if you're REALLY that butthurt, why do you feel the need to just screw four people over (yes, I said four, killers gets screwed out of BP and probably any chance for a merciless as well) just because of something that you can't even confirm is going to happen?
I really don't think he is talking about dc'ing inside the game, but dc'ing before the game loads. He leaves, the match gets cancelled, everyone gets sent back to the lobby. No one really gets hurt. No one loses BP, no one loses PIPs, everyone goes back to the lobby and eventually back to the game. Only person that loses something is the guy who dodged the lobby--he loses an offering. Now if it is clear the killer has a Ebony Mori and it is down to just me and one other, I might dc then especially if I am probably going to depip anyway so the other survivor can perhaps get the hatch. And if the killer was going for some achievement where he needed to Mori everyone and I just stopped him from getting that...well so much the better. Not all that concerned about the concerns of killers. I don't care if killers get screwed out of something because I decide to dc.
-
@YaiPa said:
if you DC you clearly just scared, and do not like challenges... if you find them boring you can make noise, call the killer, then just die on first hook, what ya say? you're gonna lose a precious pip? who cares about ranks when nobody, even devs, cares.
Well I care about PIPS and rank but I care about being bone crushing painful to any killer who faces me much more so if sending a killer back to the lobby annoys the killer...well that's a bonus in my book.
-

If you're scared of them, then how can they be boring? If anything, you should be giving your A game to avoid being hooked that round. So what if you're mori'd.. it's probably a green or yellow anyways i mean who cares.
Yes it's toxic and cowardly to bail like that.
I have no issue being toxic and if it annoys the killer by me doing that I am all for that.

I don't a problem with moris it's the toxic killer behavior that leads up to it. Camping the hook and tunneling and then picking you up and dropping you...I mean what's the point? Had one of those last night. I got hooked. Unhooked. Tunneled. Dead via an Ebony Mori. Then I unloaded on the killer...basically suggesting he make a visit to the ICU (meaning he ending up as a resident of the ICU) among other choice words. He reported me (and god knows what number I am up to on that account) and then comm banned for 24 hours...I think I am either at #39 or #40 for those...I lost count again.

I mean, considering ebonies pop up once every 10 bloodwebs and ivories pop up 1 out of 20, you're just unlucky. Also, yeah, you in yourself abandoning your team just because you don't like what MIGHT happen in a game (cypress or even just a shroud) is more toxic than the possibility of bringing a mori that's gonna be fixed soon. Just because a secret offering exists doesn't mean, "Hey, I don't like this. I'm going to abandon my team and possibly leave them to longer matchmaking and a worse game so I don't have to deal with helping. Especially changing your name to reflect that. Seeing that name will make survivors dc more then killers, because killers have speedy matchmaking considering not a lot of people play killer because its a risk between bullied and dominating. In short, yeah, it's really toxic because it makes people angrier who will later lash out at others and will be called salty because of it.
I think he means to kill the game before you load into the map which sends everyone back to the lobby which I will do not dc'ing once you are in the actual game.

Which is exactly why I am so glad Xbox doesn't have the trash dedicated servers. Sure at times you have some killer on McDonald's Wifi, but nothing as bad as you describe.

There are way more boosted survivors, because pipping as survivor is too easy and you can be carried by a SWF. But there are definitely boosted killers as well.
You’ve never seen a red rank killer who will try to moonwalk at low wall loops, massively respect every pallet, chase you the wrong way around loops like the cow tree or shack, run jungle gyms badly, tunnel a guy off hook only to eat through an obvious BT and DS, etc.? They’re not as common as the bad survivors who Self Care in a far corner and go down in 5 seconds but they exist.
True that. I played this killer last night at the game and made him look completely stupid at some of the chases. He was a rank 3 too and he was just total trash...just completely.

To rank up as Killer, you have to be good. No exceptions. You'll face red ranks from Rank 16 on and you are the sole factor in your performance. There's no one to hold you hand. Survivors will never go easy on you. On Killer, you sink or swim.
To rank up as Survivor, you and your three teammates have to be strong combined, but not necessarily individually. Your performance at the end of the match isn't merely a showcase of your own skill but everyone combined. You don't have to escape to rank up. You just have to be productive with your time. Survivors don't have to learn the full game, they just have to understand one playstyle and be effective with it.
There's a reason why the Survivors have longer queues and there's a shortage of high rank Killers despite Killer being the 1 to 4 ratio. It's not exactly a mystery
Plenty of trash no skill killers out there and they do rank up. Trash at the red ranks...in general no, but the lower you go into the ranks the more trash you find. So yes indeed plenty of trash in the green ranks say and they did rank up from the even more trashy levels.

No...its really not OP. You're only saying that because you've never tried to run it. Myers has to stalk every survivor to the max in order to be able to use his power. And, by that time, most, if not all, gens would be repaired and the survivors would be camping the doors or the hatch like they do to be toxic. Burger King Myers is one of the hardest builds to run, and it the opposite of OP.
BK Myers is the one who can't ever get to Evil III and is slower than every survivor. He can never mori anyone simply because of his add-ons. Not OP. I have seen Puppers still kill people though. The build the OP was referencing. Yeah...probably OP along with a good many other broken crap in this game.
