Just adding my two cents here:
Trapper, Hag, and Plague all have one thing in common. They never initially wanted to live this life, but the entity made them to. Trapper is the prime example. He wouldn’t put metal spikes into himself intentionally. Followed by Hag. She lived a normal life until she got abducted. Then the entity gave her unending hunger. And Plague is a mixed bag, because she believes she’s doing the right thing. She believes it’s her god(s) speaking to her and telling her to do this.
As for the entity thing, yes it can. It prefers to be mostly spider tentacle things but it’s also the map itself, so

In regards the clone thing, I think someone said that the devs didn’t want to limit anyone on which Survivor they prefer.
Though, doesn’t mean it can’t be related to the lore.
Anyways, this is an interesting theory no doubt, it can explain why some of the lore has been retconned or whatnot, (Entity going off everything based on inaccurate memories) but what about the Void?
One of the lore entries confirms that at this point multiple versions of the same character exist. Also it’s a theory but one that’s impossible to prove. Or you could imagine it like this. There’s a theory that you are the entity just watching through the killer’s eyes directly and the survivors not directly inside them but still nearby. The survivor part is important here. Even if it was a dream and it is fake it would make no sense to not be inside. Plus the entity isn’t a god, it needs sustenance as intangible as hope may be.

You can do whatever you want just know knowingly using exploit is bannable on any platform just a fact.
Following that logic 360’s are bannable when the killer misses because they got autoaimed. Exploiting ######### servers. It’s not really any different than someone who just has the iron will bug, except you know who has it ahead of time.

The perks are really overpowered, (except the left behind one) the movement speed, power, and TR just do not work in terms of balance.

He's perfectly fine as a strong killer. Nerfing him just makes him less fun to play. They just need to tweak one or some of his mechanics to give him a higher skill cap like other killers because his powers are indeed strong. He IS a low skillcap, high reward player and if you think otherwise, you are entitled to your wrong opinion. If anyone wants to refer to my post, I go more in depth as to why I think that is.

Nerfing him would make him less fun for the killer but it'll actually be fun for survivors.

Hey, if any killer really wants you dead he will do it, its on you to make it harder, freddy Is strong killer, he Is like that in the movies. When u are awake he has no power, u can use that, not a lot of freddys are god tier, its not gonna be a cake walk against him, and imo thats how it should be with killers, it shouldn't be easy to counter, but thats just my opinion
But he isn't like that in the movies. Sure he can fabricate stuff but can he physically touch you while you're awake? And not every killer has easy counters, Wraith's and Hag's assume you have lights, Nurse is breaking LOS, which isnt that easy anymore, but Freddy's isn't possible half the chase

He Is basic M1 killer which u can loop for days, he got cooldown on teleport, snares are really not that strong, his big counter Is that if u stay awake he got no power etc.. he Is very well balanced, u must play differently against him, u must be patient
The issue with the big counter is that it doesn't last forever, nor long enough to make a huge impact on the game. He can put you back to sleep as soon as he hits you, making the second hit even easier. If you want to look around to see efficient pathing when he comes, that wastes time

Sure, accusing someone of meta fanatic or other stuff just points out how mad you are just bcs you can't get over simple facts. Talking about salty mentality yet u are screaming nerf freddy (balanced killer) and this just shows again that all that years youve been playing are nothing bcs u didn't improve at all. As i can remember i never whined about that, just stated simple facts and u are still angry bcs u got clapped with facts. U told me that i have petty mindset and i told you if i do i wouldn't hit r1 multiple times, its not jail free-card (which shows again that u are the one with petty mindset).
Trying to put me down with facts doesn't work, simply bcs they are all wrong, imagine accusing someone of something that u don't even know, just shows how mentally unstable u are, u prob lost against freddy, then came here to scream how op he Is. All that years of playing and u are still at the bottom, comaplaining and whining, and again, this just shows how petty mindset you have even outside of the game, in i few words i point out a few simple facts that u cant beat even with all that long text that Is trying to change the subject.
I mean, I just want to hear, from you, what's so balanced about him? As far as I know, he has absolutely no balance, counterplay, or skill required. Personally, I see balanced as something that punishes the killer for doing wrong, like Pyramid Head's cooldown for missing punishment and an easy way to get rid of torment, Plague's cooldown for vomit and counterplay, Trapper's strong traps but he can also get stuck in them, the list goes on and on. In all of my time playing I have never seen a good example of counterplay. I'm red ranks on both sides, by the way. Not a main in any sense
-
@Tricks said:
Those who 'hate' Freddy either don't own him because he's a premium killer, and / or don't know how to play him therefore don't know how to play against him.
I'll repeat. I don't play Freddy because I know it's an easy win and only play him for dailies because of how easy they are
-
I'm getting all these messages that I don't know how to play against him but the best thing I've seen is "Drop pallets early," But that doesn't stop you from getting downed a second later, especially with the map reworks. And on stronger loops, Wow! You just lost looping time! Literally anyone give me any counter to Freddy that doesn't eventually waste pallets

which survivor in lore is your "favorite" as a person? who seems like a great person? who has the best backstory? who is someone you'd really like to meet and talk to and why? and who do you dislike the most regarding to their personality/lore?
I think Claudette is my favorite, purely because how much of a personality similarity we have. Contrary to everyone who plays her, she's really introverted and prefers to not get into the heat of things? I guess? The best personality to me is Jane. She's sympathetic according to Solidarity and she's a brave soul, determined and always looking forward, like with Head On and Poised. The next one is probably Adam to me. He had humble beginnings and almost died trying to save someone he didn't know. A man pure of heart **unlike people who play him**. And I think I wouldn't like David because of my own principles

Pain. Trapper is the best example of this. Those metal rods aren't for show, lore-wise. The Entity forces them into it, they're deceived into it, like Spirit and Wraith who see only who ruined their life, or they want to go into it willingly, like Ghostface who's just a sadist. Because killers across the board get displeased I'm sure they all know what happens when they don't do what the entity wants.

I’ve honestly thought that pips and emblems were the problem. I’ve gotten 10 hooks but no pip? Somethings a bit off. In my opinion, pips shouldn’t rely on what the killer is doing. If he’s camping, give the survivor more points in boldness because they’re distracting the killer. Enough to finish at least 3 gens, and enough that they don’t depip. With first hook tunneling mori, I’d have no idea how to make it so they leave with at least 0. For killers, I guess just take the amount of hooks they got, divide by 2 and multiply by the number of people who escaped via key (not hatch because hatch on its own is a balanced mechanic), so if I got 8 hooks but all people escape through the hatch, even when I had a good set up with the gates, I’d get 16 more points for emblems. If only one person escaped then it would just be counted as hatch. This is just a half formed idea I just came up with though so it’s probably not that good
-
Tunneling is basically as you described it. Going after nobody else the whole game. Anyone who says otherwise is either salty or misinformed. Slugging (leaving them in dying after they got off the hook) isn't tunneling. Trying to secure a last kill by attacking the injured person isn't tunneling. Getting DS'ed does not necessarily mean you tunneled. Seeing someone who was just unhooked, nobody else. and attacking, is not tunneling.
Camping comes in 2 forms in this game because everyone has to complain about something. Face camping (standing in the hooked person's LOS and not going anywhere else purely to tunnel/ get someone else on hook) and proxycamping (patrolling nearby objectives and a hook when someone's hooked). In some situations it's ok to do these (I mean, it's ok to do them whenever, there's always gonna be someone angry they couldn't have escaped), mostly when you just want one last kill in the endgame or there's definitely someone nearby. Ignore any comments that come your way about you tunneling or camping because it's probably not true

Whenever I play Nurse on Xbox and I get Hawkins or Lery's I just mess around, like go to the hidden room in Hawkins. I haven't gotten Lery's yet but if you're good on those maps,good job. Nurse is hard as is especially on indoor maps imo except the game. But, haters gotta hate

Honestly the new cosmetics are confusing to me. The new Spirit cosmetic suggests she died while wearing that, which doesn't make sense considering why would you wear that to a restaurant. Assuming thats void in the timeline of her wearing that cosmetic though, her feeling her legacy would have definitely made her not die.
But Kazan's cosmetic is strange. I could be wrong but I believe the description makes it sound like he was changed prior to being taken. That's not to say it's not impossible that the Entity changed Kazan into what he hated being called the most, considering skins like Demogorgon's is, but it'd be obvious he hates that more than anything else. Sometimes though the cosmetic lore doesn't fit in with the actual bio, but Kazan hating being called Oni-Yamaoka is something that has to be true across all timelines he was taken, considering his demise would've been different because of it.
am i being confusing sorry
-
Honestly for me just make him more quiet. He makes a noise for every thing he does. Walking, noise, miss an attack, noise, hit an attack, louder noise, even his stealth power is loud. Remove the footsteps and he'll be a lot easier to play

@Cheers said:
To me, these were old teachables of survivors that either escaped the realm of the entity (such as Vigo) or were consumed by the entity after losing hope. So basically what you said we can assume is right.
As for killers not interacting outside of trials is actually incorrect. Many believe that The Legion chill in Ormond after trials, and its confirmed that The Wraith and The Nurse do see each other outside of trials and are good friends.
Honestly that last part was kind of hearsay from reddit
-
Assuming they're all invincible, Kazan takes the cake for me. Easily kill many with his stick of doom, then kill 2 more to kill 10. Otherwise it's Spirit because she's literally unkillable, she was a good student to know what the Vietnam War is and possibly how it worked

I think it also provides an extra layer to the twisted nature of the trials. Because in that situation, you're sitting next to yourself on a generator (which all by itself is crazy) but then he gets caught and you go hide and he gets hooked. Do you save him? But... he's not him, he's you and what happens if you die? Will that be you later? Or... was that you before? Under the intense pressure of a murderous killer hunting you down you try to wrap your head around it and it's just impossible. Because there's no way to distinguish it all, you've been here for so long, or have you? It feels like centuries... or.. yesterday?
It really adds an element of mental torture on top of the already gruesome nature of the trials. Something I don't think people who don't read / look into the lore much less analyze it completely understand. Of course this isn't something that's exactly confirmed, but it does make a lot of sense given what we've got.
I think the devs also confirmed that some survivors wake up in each new trial believing that it's their first. Which is both messed up, and yet in its own way, a kind of mercy.
That ending is kind of a good explanation for why some survivors are bad at looping even if their character has been released for a long time, like a new Nea compared to a god Nea who can loop the killer for 5 gens

@MadLordJack said:
There isn't any auto aim. There's just a hit cone. The killers weapon doesn't have a hitbox, when someone presses M1 the game scans a cone in front of them and makes them hit the first thing in the cone. It also makes the camera immediately centre on the thing that just got hit.
I know thats what they said on stream but it doesn't explain why so many lunges end early for me. Try hitting a survivor being sacrificed, it will aim upwards but it doesn't actually hit them.
@DWolfAlpha said:

So the devs actually addressed this in a stream. It's meant to count the hit before turning your camera. It's a bug that it checks collision after and they're working on a fix.
and I don't know if this is true but I hope it is because it's so infuriating when they get extra distance because of it.

Honestly i'm not a huge horror enthusiast, but when I heard theories it was him, it vaguely rang a bell and I actually had to look him up, still had no idea where he came from to begin with. Iconic really depends on who you ask. When I think horror, I think Nightmare, Friday the 13th, Halloween, Alien, Scream, and (to be frank) FNAF. But that's just what I think of when someone says iconic to horror

I use almost every exhaustion perk except for dead hard (i try to avoid most of the meta because it terribly frustrates me as killer or is just unbalanced in my eyes) and Lithe (It can activate on an unsafe pallet and you just wasted your Lithe). Overall, I tend to use one exhaustion perk, Adrenaline, and then two perks that I think are nice or work well with each other
-
The most anyone in the Fog as far as we know damage wise is keep killers in captivity (for only a short while) by stabbing them with serum, which broke them out as well. You can see little syringes in some Blight cosmetics like Wraith's. The only thing survivors are capable of is stabbing for DS and dropping pallets. There's a reason why Evan can keep stepping in his own traps and not be phased
-
@Seiko300 said:
This is something I actually find extremely interesting and fun to talk about, so let me explain (hopefully without ranting EDIT: I ended up ranting oh well. Read the history and then read the second explanation, the first is just a kind of offhand that some people have thought of before)
The place where survivors now find themselves in is not the real world, at best you can say it's sort of like a parallel dimension but really there's no other way to describe it than "The Realm of The Entity".
Most of what the entity is is an unknown mystery. Its motives, intentions, how it works mechanically / biologically is more or less incomprehensible and horror indescribable.
So already the answer is going great because we're admitting to knowing basically next to nothing.
However, there are a few things we do know and with what little information we have we can cobble together a reasonable explanation.
History / background info.
The entity, which is not exactly on the same plane of existence as the real world can actually pull survivors and killers from different time periods (and also dimensions, technically / supposedly). One of the very first characters we are introduced to: Benedict Baker is one of the first indications of this messed up chronology as one of his diary entries is dated 1956 but a few entries later there is a new date: 1896, which is repeated on many of his other entries about the entity, the bloodweb, the heartbeat, etc.
Benedict Baker's journal entry about The Hillbilly specifically makes little sense as the first hand-held, motorised Chainsaws weren't invented until in 1918 and thus a man that was taken into the Entity's Realm in 1896 should not know about their existence, let alone how to use one.
What we can gather from this (and basically what I just took a long time explaining even though the devs confirmed it in a sentence) is time does not exist in the realm of the entity. If we go back to one of the first sentences I said "the place where survivors now find themselves in is not the real world" you can also use this to infer that this place is not bound or perhaps only loosely bound by the same laws that govern our own reality. Laws about Time, Space, etc.
So now to answer your question there are two explanations for this, one is simple, and one is far more intriguing and thought provoking.
First explanation
The first is that the entity pulls from different dimensions the same person, this also neatly enough explains the different outfits that exist in the game they are all different versions of the same person. Take Dwight for example, two Dwight's spawn in a trial: one is wearing "The Great Gas Jockey" outfit and another is wearing the "Mr. Elf" outfit. This is in fact the same person Dwight Fairfield but from two different dimensions or times in two different dimensions, one where he was working as an employee at "Phil's Petrol" and another where he "he secured a part-time job at the mall. [over the holidays]"
However, this theory doesn't fit well since in every survivor's bio we are given more or less the circumstance or single canonical moment in time that they disappeared. Or were "taken" to the realm of the entity This was the one for Dwight:
"One weekend, on a team-building exercise from his dead-end job, Dwight's boss led them deep into the woods before breaking out his family recipe moonshine. Dwight remembered taking the first sip before waking up late the next morning all alone. During the night, the others had abandoned him. Once again, the laughing stock of the community Dwight tried to hike his way out of the woods. That was the last anyone ever heard of Dwight Fairfield."
Second explanation
The second which I believe is more reliable is a more science heavy explanation, and relies more on the lack of the existence of Time. Here's the best way to think about it: say you were in your room at home alone and then you walk out of your room. 5 minutes later, you walk back into your room and then walk out again. Thirty minutes later you walk back into your room.
Now take that same circumstance, and say time doesn't exist, throw it out the window. What happens? What is there to distinguish between you walking into your room 5 minutes later and thirty minutes later? Nothing. You walking into your room 5 minutes in the future and thirty minutes in the future is no longer separated by the time between because it no longer exists so you actually walk in at the same time
At that point you can't even call it the future anymore, because it's all mixed and mingled, it's the past the future and the present all happening at once. So the first Dwight is from 5 minutes ago, the second Dwight is from 15 minutes ago, the third Dwight is from 30 minutes in the future and the fourth is from now. Except there is no "now" because there is no time. And to each one of those Dwight's "Then" is "now" and they are all experiencing it in the same moment at the same exact "time".
So basically:
https://youtu.be/nRGCZh5A8T4?t=79
tl;dr Time does not Exist.
Don't agree with that TLDR but this is almost exactly what I've always thought. Different times to have the same character but different outfits, and different universes (which is why some people can wear bizarre outfits in game), whatever they wear actually makes sense to them. However, the lore itself is always a bit weird. According to the Legion (teen edgelord) bio, they were taken after killing the janitor. However, Susie's Rat costume says that she was taken after she killed the janitor because she had a passion for crime, where as she was timid in the bio. Or Dwight's parachute outfit, he got taken when he landed in the forest parachuting versus getting left behind and then taken. It's always struck me as hopeless that no matter what you did in life, you'd still end up in the Fog. The choices you made might have changed other people on Earth, but you won't see how they changed people because you'll be stuck forever and gone in the Fog.

Similar ideas to this have come up on several occasions, like a doppleganger.
Shame that it would be tricky to pull off because voice chat exists. ( "Is that you coming to my gen?" "No." *runs away* )
God plays when survivors dress the same though.
(early game when nobody knows who the killer is yet)
"Is that you on the gen with me?"
"I mean, I guess"

any perk that activated endgame, NOED, bloodwarden, and rancor. Only one of these works if survivors have a brain though and 99 the gates or cleanse totems. Meanwhile there is Dead Hard, DS, Borrowed Time, Unbreakable, Any Means Necessary, self-care, and other perks that heal you or give you something to keep going.
-
@pizzamess11 said:
I hope so it's a poorly designed perk that rewards killer for letting the game get into endgame. Snowballing is the most consistent way to win in dbd so I'd far prefer perks and killers that play into that style of play, like oni with infectious and corrupt. Obviously I dont always get 4ks and games get to endgame atleast every couple matches but if the gens get powered then noed only helps so much. I do much better and far more consistent with a full perk set up that's in use the entire match or can be used the entire match.
For one, it isn't poorly designed. It's the same as Unbreakable and DS, except worse, a second chance perk because of a bad play. Except you can get rid of it quicker than the killer can catch up to someone who just DS'ed the killer and ran in a straight line. Killer and Survivor aren't the same thing either. It doesn't reward them either. It's the extra push they need to get back on their feet and win. Same argument with Unbreakable, it fixes a bad situation you got into, so you have a perk to clean it up. Except you have all game to use Unbreakable and NOED activates only if theres still a dull totem and can still get removed when someone sees it. Don't mean to sound like a broken record but if you don't like it, just do bones. You could also get rid of things like Devour Hope in the process
-
Just saying but Scott saying it isn't Candyman doesn't mean anything. He isn't a fog whisperer, nor is he involved in the development in the game nor the liscensing or contracts to get there. He's just a streamer.
-
So killers like Trapper normally wouldn't have. They don't have a reason to. The Entity does a couple things. One of them is torture, evident by the trapper. Evan was sensible; he wouldn't have done that to himself. Constant pain for a constant reminder. Or, the Entity changed their perception (as is the case with Wraith and Spirit's white eyes, they've been touched to only see who ruined their life. Even some merciful killers like Adiris normally wouldn't, but she believes these are her gods lining the way for her. But killers who still don't do their job are in the Void, theoretically. Nobody ruined their life, wouldn't have an incentive to kill. Maybe thats what happened to the woman who fed her husbands to the pigs and stole their wealth. No reason to do it, so tossed away if she was taken.
Then there are survivors. Hope is the biggest factor. As long as they have hope, they're used for the entity. The survivors would probably be scornful and might try to get rid of them themselves. (other survivors murdering each other for silence because one survivor believed he was in a nightmare he just left) or they might roll with the punches. Really depends on who else is in the trial. Like if people are losing hope because one specific survivor is on the team, maybe the entity would take the worthless one and replace him/her
-
@Joelwino said:
I'm pretty sure he worked as a pizza delivery guy before getting dumped in the woods
From what I know, that was his first job, and I really like the time they were taken by the entity to be vague. It expands what they couldve been wearing at the time they went into the Fog. I believe if the timing is kept vague, they could be taken at any point of their lives, which is why the blight skin for Jake exists as does Old Man Jake, or Laurie with her cosmetics that suggest different ages. And they could be living in any kind of timeline to see themselves in the trial with the same clothes, in any combination. Same applies for Dwight, he could have been doing anything at any time, all we know is that he was left behind wearing whatever he thought would look ok for his event thing that happened I forgot. He could've been wearing his First Job shirt, Smells Like Pizza, Where's Dwighty?, his blight skin, or even the Peak 22 outfit because it's vague on when he got taken and what job he was in.
But why would Kate wear a winter jacket with shorts just saying.

@MegMain98 said:
The best way to change the ebony mori is to have it so you cannot start killing survivors until you have hooked every survivor at least one time.
That way if the killer hooks Meg and Claudette goes to save, the killer is not going to tunnel down Meg down and get an easy mori, instead the killer is going to chase the Claudette which would incentivize killers not to tunnel as well.
I mean, I would agree with this, if it weren’t for the newer players/the more selfish players in the game, who hide in corners or lockers all game or are just really good at evading the killer. If you don’t hook someone until the end of the game and that’s their first hook, then you couldn’t have mori’d anyone all game and that takes the fun/value out of what it’s meant to be. I do think that an easier balance is someone else has to be hooked while you aren’t downed. That’s the only way to avoid tunneling for a mori without hooking everyone once
-
With some killers existing, no. Say Jeff, taken around the late 90's early 2000's, was an avid movie fan. He still wouldn't have seen Saw or Stranger Things to know what a demogorgon, who The Pig is, or who the characters are.
-
Literally none of the issues I saw were fixed except getting stuck on a pallet as killer. You can still get stuck as survivor, Bubba's chainsaw keeps revving after you finish a run, and the endgame music still goes on in the middle at random times

I noticed that too. It’s probably just a miscommunication, but from a lore perspective it’s fascinating. I feel like prior to the undetectable status, it was the killers heartbeat, because you could still hear it, but only from so close to the killer. But now that undetectable is a thing, it’s kind of hard to tell. I think it’s always been survivors though because the heartbeat is related to how close the killer is, like how frequent the beats are. A killer would notice that they’re having a heart attack while close to a survivor and exploit it to all hell
-
I doubt she would know what the entity thinks or plans of. It only hungers for hope. Even if she was, the entity is perceptive in the sense of bending killers’ wills and bending them HARD. She has no reason to nor has ever attempted it, given that the first and only time she has been hurt in the Fog was by Vigo for experimenting with the serum. Other than that, she shows no visible signs of being hurt other than what happened while she was still “mortal” in a sense.
The entity is weird imo. Like do the survivors ever age?
-
Don’t want to sound like a broken record, but just do the bones? You don’t even have to just do the bones. Just find the lit totem. It’s a perk that’s very counterable and completely removable if you just do them when you see them

I think he means to kill the game before you load into the map which sends everyone back to the lobby which I will do not dc'ing once you are in the actual game.
Even worse. At least your teammates have a chance of winning versus not giving them anything at all PLUS the loading screen. I feel dead inside every single time it happens because I have to go back to queue because someone didnt like how long it was taking to load in or it might've been a red mori. Notice the might've. I bring in yellow more often then not, and people have the grace to only dc when they're getting mori'd if I bring in a red. The only reason I'm typing this right now is because someone didn't want to face a hidden offering when most likely yellow. Give the teammates a chance, don't dc on the loading screen, and don't waste everyone else's time just because you don't want to face a possible mori.

I mean, considering ebonies pop up once every 10 bloodwebs and ivories pop up 1 out of 20, you're just unlucky. Also, yeah, you in yourself abandoning your team just because you don't like what MIGHT happen in a game (cypress or even just a shroud) is more toxic than the possibility of bringing a mori that's gonna be fixed soon. Just because a secret offering exists doesn't mean, "Hey, I don't like this. I'm going to abandon my team and possibly leave them to longer matchmaking and a worse game so I don't have to deal with helping. Especially changing your name to reflect that. Seeing that name will make survivors dc more then killers, because killers have speedy matchmaking considering not a lot of people play killer because its a risk between bullied and dominating. In short, yeah, it's really toxic because it makes people angrier who will later lash out at others and will be called salty because of it.

I think MM, at least on Xbox, is doing wonderfully. I'm going up against (mostly) fair and equal matches where I have fun, regardless of rank.

No, no matter the circumstances. If you have the Broken Status effect applied to you than you will NOT heal. Adrenaline is weird, sometimes you'll actually heal from the mend state, but not go into the healthy state. As for the broken state, it de-activates all chances of healing from it until the status effect is gone.
I was disappointed when I tried using inner strength when I needed mending. Totem wasted.

I think Wraith, by his idle animation, killed Azarov, and after coming to his senses, realised he liked doing what he did, but is timid in his natural state. Like for the cosmetics where he is made from trees, he likes nature and doesn't like people. The bell makes me think he found it in the woods from old long gone tribe. i hope the next tome is about the good old fashioned bing bong boy
