I'm having the same issue - was playing a match as The Singularity on Ormond, alt-tabbed out whilst I was waiting for the survivors to leave, tabbed back in and noticed my game was also 1/4 of the size in the corner of my screen and couldn't get it back fullscreen. Restarted the game and ever since I've had the exact same resolution bug where everything is incredibly high quality, almost like all the textures are in 8K.

I too play on a 4K monitor and previously played at 125% resolution (modified in GameUserSettings) on Ultra at 120fps with zero issues, however since my resolution has bugged I now have to play at 65% resolution instead. Now, playing at 100% resolution with the same settings tanks my FPS down to between 60-70 in the lobby alone.

I've tried reinstalling the game, deleting all DBD associated files, updating drivers and nothing has fixed it so far.

    I run a RTX 3080 with a Ryzen 9 5950X, if that's helpful information.

I'm having a similar issue with similar hardware. GPU usage is WAY higher like the game isn't capped at 1080p anymore as far as resolution. Something hasn't been normal with the last 2-3 builds.

  • More FPS doesn't give anyone an advantage in DbD. What it does do is let the game run visually smoother at the cost of a little extra GPU usage. I've been playing DBD in 120fps for months. Can't go back to 60 now. Makes my eyes bleed.

  • Compare certain landmarks. The smoke house for example is WAY closer to the map edge walls than it was before. It's also a bit closer to the hunting cabin than it was before.

  • The map -is- smaller, by a significant amount. So is the Temple of Purgation.

  • Let's say it takes about 2M bp (and 50 bloodwebs) to get a particular character to a prestige level. (The exact number depends on how much you actually have to spend per bloodweb)

The most consistently effecient way, imo, to get tier 3 perks from another character is to dump (about) 6M bp and 150 bloodwebs into that character. Then boom, done. Doesn't take all that long to get 6M bp honestly.

If you just want to do the equivalent of 'unlocking teachables' - then you only need about 2M bp and 50 bloodwebs to do that. Getting them to tier 3 then takes an indeterminate number of bp and bloodwebs to do that, hence it being less efficient. But it's totally doable.

You don't even have to play the other character - just play whichever one you want and dump BP into whomever you're unlocking those perks on.

Not sure why everyone is all up in arms over this - it's WAY easier to get tier 3 of someone's perks unlocked (across -all- survivors/killers) whether you play just one character or not with the new prestige system.

I personally like it. This is Saloon. I think the way it is currently is good, and will take a bit of getting used to.

I don't know what you're playing on, but I can barely see the gen. I'm on a 43" calibrated 4k display in a blacked out room. My display is plenty bright enough as is. DBD is the only game that is consistently too dark in some spots. I don't mind darker than normal - but basically navigating blind is absolutely too much to ask of players.

  • This is -far- darker than it was on PTB, to the point of barely being able to see the generator I'm working on.

    image.png

Maybe somewhere in the middle between live and ptb brightness would be fine? Seriously tho, Mending vfx has also been too dark for awhile now as well. Feel like I need to learn to play dbd blindfolded.

Being pretty factual about this, survivors squatting isn't even "teabagging" using the known meaning of the word. Butt dancing is another term that's used and that's probably more of an accurate representation to what happens in the game.

I prefer another term that I heard during an Overwatch League broadcast in the first season: "Tactical Crouching"

T-bagging is toxic, tactical crouching is not.... its'.....tactical.

why does there need something to be done about tunnelign and camping...

you survivors just need to stop trying to escape with 4 ppl whenever that happens! that part of the game is already balanced enough!

SWF's is already a unfair advantage anyways

Besides as a killer main I started tunelling because of the abusive way survivors play... so again... there is always a cause of it

And ppl with a flashlight will get camped if I've noticed it's their best man on the team as well! so again just put your focus elswhere

"SWF's is already an unfair advantage anyways"

Maybe - depends on how good each of those survivors are, what map you're playing on, what items and add-ons are in play on both sides. Will a well coordinated SWF probably give a not so good killer a bad day? Will a highly skilled SWF group stomp a really good killer? Not necessarily but it will be a very interesting match. Even BHVR has said that the data shows that while SWF groups tend to do 'better, on average' than a group of solo queues - it's not SO much better that they feel anything needs to be 'done about it.'

sure because you're going to trust the 0.1% of the players that play games with barely any mistakes...

If you take this from a casual DbD killer perspective, of 5 months, 1 year, 2 years or even more years of experience but not as sweaty as Otzdarva.

Twitch streamers and content creators and great and all, but we all know their skilllevels are WAAY higher then the regular DbD player and sure, I agree on many things with Otzdarva. but I don't agree with this 'balanced' game

camping on hooks is more chance to achieve a pip-up then if you try your best?

Survivors bullying the killer is the main goal of the game...

As long as ppl are going to Deny that the game isn't survivor sided, the game won't change and eventually will die because killer mains will leave.

And again all these examples are just extreme and unfair buffs, I know this as well. But implement them for a few months... and I hope many ppl think back when the game 'wasn't killer sided' aka CURRENT DBD OP SURVIVOR SIDED

I can tell from your response you stopped reading at "Otzdarva" and didn't actually WATCH the video. Please go watch the video. He did a fantastic experiment from playing with a sweaty build and "playing like a scumbag' as you say down to playing w/o even any perks. He also addresses most of the complaints you have about his methodology.

I'll just put his results here:

    image.png image.png image.png

Here's the thing - if you, a killer, define a 'win' as a 4k - you're going to be horribly disappointed with a lot of your matches. If you get a long term average of 3k or at least 2.5k avg kills per game, your MMR is going to go up. That's a win in my book. Some players take the killer role far too seriously and want to just insta-M1 4k every game. That's not fun for either side and it's really kinda boring, if you think about it. Gotta have some challenge and apply some skill to any game. Even if you're a casual player.

  • Dead by Daylight is not survivor-sided.

Otzdarva did a great video showing why it is not.

    Most likely this Tuesday coming.

Yeah, the first bugfix patches have been coming a week after chapter/mid-chapter release. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long.

  • For those who had been wondering about why Boons are "unlimited" and Hexes are 'one and done' - they addressed this in the Q&A this week. (link goes directly to that section in the Q&A)

Just played a match against this person who just hides in lockers all match long with a wall hack key, I've faced them twice and that's how they played both matches with me. It's really stupid that someone can hide all match and not help the team whatsoever and still get a free escape.

After I closed hatch I found them and raced em to the hatch which wasn't far, and stood on it, they just started opening an exit gate, so I stop them and they just run straight back to hatch but this time they made it in.... How in Neas' name am I supposed to kill someone like that? How do I stop them? I was even doctor and had them in M3 hoping they couldn't use their key but nope.. there's absolutely no counterplay in this situation unless I just run Franklins all the time which I really don't want to do, I'm very thankful for the upcoming key nerf but I think a couple of good ideas for further nerfs would be

    1. Survivors in madness T3 cannot use keys

    2. When the killer hits a key holder they drop it, because the truth is just having a key in your hand makes you "bolder" which leads to stupid plays you shouldn't get away with.

Just some suggestions, but dang something has to change because I shouldn't be afraid of a survivor and race them to the hatch, if I have to race them being able to make them drop it upon getting hit by a basic attack would be good enough for me because I was completely powerless in that situation, they can still pick it up and it's not like it would disappear unless a teammate snagged it.

They also aren't getting any points. Let them enjoy their de-pip.

  • @HectorBrando - what platform are you on? On PC (Steam) they've gotten a LOT more stable at 60fps. I am noticing a LOT of texture pop-in though. Seems like they're a little aggressive on the LOD distance.

  • No, not feeling slow here. I do dislike the camera angle being as low as it is when we go down tho. That could be raised a little more, imo

  • Windows App Store or Stadia version player in this case.

There's no update coming today, we have not confirmed when the update will be released.

Then the social media team needs to let everyone know on Twitter, Discord, FB, etc. Lots of people still waiting for official word on this through those places.

  • @DoctorIdiot said:

You realize try-hards are all across the spectrum, right? If anything, I see more sweaty survivors than killers.

    Statistics, man.....

4 survivors for every killer - that's just going to happen.

  • @Mandy said:

Currently Server Sided Hit registration is not switched on, it was previously in Beta testing only.

Wasn't also it only used if killer has awful ping? Might be time to turn it back on again.....and make it server side 100% of the time. Killer should not be authoritative for anything.

  • Killer and survivor cannot both win that fight. If the survivor is going to be in time to stun the killer, they shouldn't be able to hit the survivor too. IMO it is a flaw that needs to be fixed.

  • On PC (steam) as well. Springwood Bedham Preschool III map, behind a hook, outside killer shack. Btw, map is still a -little- dark in spots.

To say more than ever is a bit of a stretch. Let's not forget that back in the day, Sprint Burst had a 20 second cooldown and recharged while sprinting, double pallets were everywhere, infinites were actually infinites and not just a buzz word that gets thrown around for a strong-ish loop, you could self care faster than the killer could hit you, and Decisive Strike was always active no matter what.

That said, though, as other have mentioned, you can disable crossplay if you feel it's making the experience worse for you. We do not mean to force it on you. If you're in a lobby, the option will appear greyed out. If you head back to the main menu, you'll be able to untick the box and opt out.

@Peanits Maybe time for another data infographic/analysis of survivor/killer win rates?

  • It's not working for me on PC either....strange

  • So, I don't understand the OP. They merged "Play as Survivor" with "Survive with Friends" and added the in-game friends list and actually IMPROVED the SwF experience (stay in group lobby after match) in the process.

Unpopular opinion: SwF didn't get removed - they just don't call it that anymore. If anything they doubled down on it.

  • @junkevil said:

I think this is pretty funny considering they just released party data and 4 man swf games account for less than 5% of all games. More than 50% of all survivors are solo. Killers who complain that every game they get 4 man swfs are actually being outplayed by people with no comms and then they're blaming the non existent comms for their failure. The entity is not amused. How about we give bonuses to the solo survivors? Free kindred and increased gen repair speed maybe.

    Source: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/61114/

What would be even more interesting is to see the distribution of those matches by rank. In other words, are the # of matches in higher ranks so much fewer in number that the occurrence of those 3-6% overall 4 person SwF matches actually -higher-? Or are high rank killers full of crap about “almost all matches are SwF”?

@Peanits - happen to have a breakdown like that handy?

  • @Peanits said:

That was just a debugging command for demonstration purposes. You won't be able to open the gates at any time, only when they are powered.

Might wanna pass on that things like that might not be a good idea to include in future videos like this. It's caused so much confusion and misinformation to be spread.

  • Not all of the DCs lately are intentional. I've had several matches a night the last few weeks with my SwF group where ONE of us gets randomly disconnected from the match. None of us are intentionally disconnecting nor is anything wrong with our internet connections this has been happening since the last patch or two back. People who are getting disconnected need to post their dead by daylight log files in the Bug Report forum. The more of these logs the devs get the more info they have on what's going on and what they can do to fix it.

  • My group has noticed a lot of just random instances of the game randomly disconnecting for no apparent reason. We've been in a match and one of us just drops in the middle of trying to unhook someone or run across the map.
