    'Do bones'.

It is often much better to rush gens instead of cleansing totems, especially when solo queuing.

Because 1) There is no totem counter. You could cleanse 4 totems and spend ages looking for the 5th totem only for it to have already been cleansed.

    2) You could waste a bunch of time that you can't afford to waste. It's already hard enough getting all the gens done in solo queue.

    3) The killer might not even have NOED.

    4) If the killer does have NOED it is faster to find it when it is activated.

If you're playing against a good killer, you just HAVE to prioritise gens. Cleansing totems isn't going to activate the exit gates. 5 Gens will. E.g it is MUCH better to rush gens against a forever Freddy, instead of wasting valuable time.

The only time 'do bones' may be applicable is if you're in a 4 man SWF (so you know how many totems have been cleansed) or if you've got a map and know for sure that all the totems have been cleansed. In both situations the killer needs to be bad enough so that you know you have time to cleanse all totems and finish all gens and escape. Otherwise rush gens.

Totems are worth more points than gens per/second. If I'm trying to max points I'm doing them. I only solo-queue/killer.

Its very unique. I had one where we almost had sex (That was my least favorite), one where I got chased down in the boiler room, he became my shadow and killed me. Most of the time he makes me fall to my death in some way (I have a phobia of heights). I’ve had them since I watched the remake when I was 12 ( I have watched the ogs). NOES is the only horror series that actively scares me because of this lol.

yes, the skill should be to place traps where they get triggered not spam the teleport key

Great, so the traps should just pop up and auto-hit you no teleport required? Cool. Make it an add-on.

It currently requires both and has stupid easy counters. Because crouching and flashlights aren't in absolutely every match, right? /s

Balancing around SWF is a stupid idea. Solo will get screwed if you do that and that's a bigger portion of player than killers.

I'm both solo queue and killer. I've never been, and likely never will be, in a SWF. SWFs need nerfs or killers need buffs, which is it? If you're BHVR, I doubt you nerf your cash cow.

  • I like Freddy more, but his Dream World ######### eats 15 FPS and makes him unplayable on like half the maps, so I rarely play either one.

  • I don't think survivors are OP, I think killers are weak and should be balanced around SWF, which they aren't.

  • @Revzi100 said:

Would you like to see more licenced killers or suvivours?

I would rather see bug fixes, optimization, and useless perk/add-on reworks. In that order. If they spent a year on each I'd be fine with it.

EDIT: But these don't print money like iconic characters and $15 outfits. So it will never happen.

What do you mean retaliate? If you're really frustrated by the community you can mute chat and pretend it never existed. Survivors will be the most insulted by killers who do this.

Actually I keep a scrapbook folder of screenshots just because. But there hasn't been anything of note since cross play, since most of the people can't talk anymore.

  • @Perfectnomad said:

Not condoning this sort of behavior, but this type of garbage is present in other games as well. Sorry you experienced this, but if you find yourself getting heated, just don't stay for post game chat. Personally, I don't see a point to it. It's just used for smack talk and passive aggressive "ggs".

I actually haven't seen any of this since cross play, since no one but PC can talk to each other, and it's not full PC lobbies every game anymore.

  • @johnmwarner said:

So I wasn’t aware til yesterday but now survivors are clicking flashlights mid chase because it somehow makes you more likely to miss as killer?

How or why does this work, how often does it work and most importantly as killer how do I counter it? Just get even closer?

    @NursesBootie said:

It works as a initiation for a 360. You basically skip a small part of your turning/walking animation by doing this. At the end it's still a 360 tho.

I didn't know this was a thing. I thought they were just trying to be decoys, I generally ignore flash light clickers and go for the easiest targets first. Less people = more pressure.

  • @The_Wheeze said:

I'm only a rank 7 killer and just got DESTROYED by a 4 man swf which is just a normal day as killer , doesnt bother me. but when I get people like this it really makes the game hard to pickup again. Disclaimer: I camped the ONLY Survivor I hooked all game AFTER the gates were opened and the other 3 still had borrowed time and still got away with a nice easy win because I failed to do my job properly , but this is what killers have to deal with all day long, and why the toxic cycle on both sides continues.

I've played many full loot pvp games that aren't half this bad. It's pretty much unmatched in 25+ years of online pvp for me. Warhammer 2 release Pyro squads, open world WoW pvp server griefers, age of conan tortuage exit campers, WoT, WoWS, SMITE, TERA, even Diablo 2 ear bounty hunter cheaters weren't 10% as toxic as this community is on a daily basis - it's pretty one-sided too, probably most because killer has a lot of hard limits, is alone, and can't do much to retaliate frankly.

  • Is this a meta complaint thread complaining about nothing to complain about?

  • @Widden said:

Amanda (pig) is the most annoying killer but i encountered macro hag recently. You can't crouch when looping what is the counterplay besides flashlights? (Hag player use franklin demise and trap it)

It's the only thing that makes her playable. I use a mouse macro with a mouse profile specifically for Hag.

EDIT: It has downsides too, like teleporting when you don't want to because it's still toggled, teleporting backwards to older traps, etc.

EDIT: Hag is slow AF, if you're running loops and she's still after you you've run into her trap zone. You ######### up, it's what she's designed to do. Go somewhere else. No Hag is going to chase you where there are no traps.

EDIT: What's fair? There is no fair anywhere in life. I have keyboard macros for Struggle and Spacebar too because it's obnoxious and my keyboard doesn't need that kind of abuse. I'm probably twice your age with a chronic degenerative neurological condition that has also ######### up my already bad eyesight. Is it fair that your reaction times are probably twice as fast? There is no fair dude. Nowhere in life.

  • I just saw a Myers using distressing. He 4k'd. I did the most (17k) and I'm bad, all PC survivors (two of them less than 4k bp) and a console killer. David skulked around the whole match doing nothing, he got the hatch, of course.

Any time a competitive game with a time sink goes F2P, bots flood in. In DBD's case, it would probably be just to make full accounts to sale. Hope they never go that route on PC.

It takes 10 seconds to find accounts to sale, boosting services, and a ######### load of cheats. $8 on sale for the game, the US, other regions are cheaper, I'm sure there are bots out there already.

Yeah that's my fear as well, base game being behind a paywall is good to help reduce hacking and botting. Only way I think that it could work is you can only queue with other f2p and be invited into friends lobby's but that's it. Still could be abused but also may not be entirely fair to other f2p players. I'd be fine if they never went f2p.

My point was, it's not really, only on PC, and it's a very low barrier minus the DLC.

  • @EmpireWinner said:

Do you favor the role of Killer or Survivor and why?

I tend to find killer more enjoyable due to the fact that there are a variety of perk builds that go well with different killer powers, aesthetics and gameplay.I play both side but I'm no main ,just happen to find survivor more Infuriating because of 🥔 players.

Killer is more fun but more work and much harder. When IDGAF, am not looking to sweat, I usually play survivor. Also depends on who has the most quests, etc, to do. I'm only solo queue/Killer, no friends.

EDIT: It's also much easier to dip in/out of a survivor game than a killer one.

  • @SquirrelKnight said:

Yea, it is, that's why I run it with DS/UB, the super friends of ######### game balance. 4th perk I switch out a lot. Currently I want BP, so I'm doing WGLF as bad as it is with tome quests.

  • @Slashstreetboy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/182561/are-killers-trying-to-win-considered-as-sweaty

It´s a way of trying to shame the opponent for trying to win in a pvp game. It´s funny because it´s so childish. Reasonable people don´t do that though so you get a pretty good idea about the people that call their enemy sweaty in DBD.

If the game were balanced around SWFs I would agree with you. But it isn't; not even close.

  • I'm playing solo queue survivor for Tome quests and have been getting my ass kicked by console killers all morning. Granted, I'm not a team, good SWFs destroy Killers from all platforms. I haven't noticed any real difference in the quality of matches with cross play, console are just as good if not better, and the queue time are literally thousands of times faster.

  • @YehBoiGoku said:

I play on ps4. I just had 5 games with at least one guy dcing in each one. I have only seen people with the globe icon dc when the match starts.

Is this a bug or a trend?

I play on PC and all of the disconnects I've seen have been from consoles (globe) since crossplay. With no penalty, it comes from all platforms, before crossplay I saw disconnects all the time even with the penalty on - the penalty does nothing, the rest of the people in the match are still ######### over even if the d/c gets a penalty. Devs should be back filling disconnects from the queues (with a bonus and an option to turn it off) or with bots.

  • @sulaiman said:

yes, but it takes me alone to heal myself, while another one is needed to heal me who can´t do anything else at that time.

    little math example:

take one minute. I heal myself for 32 seconds, then do a gen for the remaining 28 seconds, while another player does a gen for 60 seconds.

At the end, i am healed, and work at gens for 88 seconds are done.

    now the other example.

someone else heals me for 16 seconds, then we both do gens for 44 seconds, leading to 88 seconds done on gens.

That doesn´t include inefficencys for working together on one gen, and doesnt include time to search for a healer.

Now explain why the later is better than the first. If you think my math is wrong, please let me know where.

Much of the time being healed doesn't help your team at all. It's why a lot of people hate self-care, because they're on the hook watching you self-care on the other side of the map with Kindred. I solo queue, this is extremely common.

Used strategically by people who are trying to, say, take a protection hit, I guess it could work, but you don't see it much the higher rank you get, because the assumption is you're going to work more with your team, they will heal you, and you get a perk slot back that can be used for something else more beneficial to your team.

It's frequently overused by people who think they need to be 100% healed at all times no matter what else is happening, bonus points for PR3 Claudettes hiding in the corner of the map.

When I play Killer I'm fine with this. When I'm survivor it sucks. Be comfortable being injured, it will make you better. Often a gen/unhook/totem is a higher priority.

EDIT: There are a number of better healing perks for other people, I see 'we're gonna make it' a fair amount because it's super fast off the hook. Again, a med kit is better most of the time, I'm currently rank 12 survivor, never got past 7, and I'm fairly new, but my experience in game led me to drop self-care for other things and just bring a low end medkit to tank a single hit, or even nothing at all and just go look for one later.

  • @steezo_de said:

Well it's evident now that the survivor base is pretty damn big on console. This change has affected my solo queue times as well. It takes 3-4 minutes now. I queue in with killer in seconds and that's the best it's been in a long time. I really do miss getting into a lobby with familiar names tho. I haven't run into any in the last 2 nights.

I've gleaned from other threads that the game has been free or included with other things on other platforms. This makes sense. Given the ridiculous BP grind, cash shop, battle pass, DLC, etc. This is effectively an F2P business model, I don't know why the base game isn't free.

  • @MaybeShesCrazy said:

Nothing but Console SWF over here and killer friends - also on console. 10 games now.

Edit to add: I thought it would be more of a mix and match? :-\

I'm PC NA EST, it's 11 AM here ... I've been seeing like 85% console players since crossplay, that's fine, queues are fantastic. The only quests I have for the current tome are survivor so that's what I'm playing, even though I'm bad.

    @killermainofsomesort said:

It’s an opt in program, have you opted?

Exactly opposite. It's opt-out. Default is on.

  • @sulaiman said:

Explain how it wastes time plz, because that is nonsense.

It takes you twice as long to heal yourself as someone else does to heal you. You're effectively gimping your team for wasted time. Botany makes it better but still not as good as straight heals or, like, Inner Strength, etc. Just bring a med kit, this is also faster.

  • @Tactless_Ninja said:

The recipe for Red ranks is 2 hooks saves and one gen. You'll never depip.

This challenge is in a single trial. I have to say I didn't find this challenge that difficult. Huntress is a lot of fun and hitting hatchets is kinda her thing. Running around M1'ing is not the play.

I've noticed a lot of people will run at you as Huntress, I'm guessing because a lot of Huntresses only use hatchets and they're basically touching you they're impossible to aim. I'm used to M1 killers who chase (like, nearly everyone else is this way) so they got slashed fast.

If you downed with only hatchets and you were killing with only hooks land 15/24 total, which is 63% of your hits only with hatchets to win. It doesn't say you have to win though. I rarely play her, so it's much harder for me, even with 30+ years of fairly regular FPS experience.

  • @Shenanigan said:

If you're ok with this question:

What killer did you stay away from, but you ended up maining them after awhile?

    For me it was Nurse

After this whole MMR thing, and Crossplay is out maybe you can share your opinion/story you know?

Hag. I could never reliably land teleport hits, but I learned something and changed something else:

1.) Her "trap range" increasing add-ons are actually a nerf because triggering the trap from the edge makes it easier to get away for a survivor, and the wider they are the easier it gets for them, so I've stopped using them, this has had a measurable impact on the number of teleport hits I land.

2.) I made a mouse teleport macro and a mouse profile specifically for her. Basically it's a toggle to spam the Activate Ability button (M4 for mine, which is pretty awkward for spamming) when it's tapped once, and will turn off when tapped again. This is pretty good when I know they're about to run in to a trap, but not great if a bunch trigger at once because I will start teleporting to older ones which are actually further away. Still it's greatly improved over how it was.

  • @seki23 said:

you may be lucky you may be not, check their profiles if u are on steam (if they have few hours they want also to farm due grind being as it is they will appreciate it also cause they are not so corrupted yet), or what you can also do is erase 2 survivors out of the game and just farm the last 2 without them even noticing you could also bring deerstalker to easily locate them or whispers if that happens so you can let them go up and down many times till you count 15. i got it in a normal game even if im terrible at her i dont even play her by any mean but still is not that hard,.

I barely play her. That last game that is what I was trying to do. I killed 2 of them, there was a Nea and Jane left, Nea was... not great, and the one I eventually opened the gate and let her leave.

Jane was hiding the whole time and clearly hoping for a hatch escape, she did eventually get the last gen done while I was trying to convince Nea to stop running by letting her struggle free several times.

I admit I hate people who are just hiding for a hatch, so when I finally found her I put hooked/killed her immediately. I could have force farmed the Nea more I guess, I don't now how close I was but I don't see it ever happening in a normal game before it's over. No kills and gens are done very quickly.

All of these people were "cross platform" and considering how extremely rarely I saw people with the Globe from the Windows store before cross play I'm basically just assuming they're all console players at this point.

  • There are a number that are bullshit, but I want the Archive lore unlocks, particularly the animations at the end of chains ;/

as killer I start out by approaching a survivor near a generator and smack it while spinning around in circles a bit (T-bag if Pig or GF). if that doesn't work, I look at their username and use that to look them up and message them to let them know.

I'm on PC, I don't think I have a way of messaging any consoles, even if I knew which one they were on. I guess I can try the spinning thing. I've chased down multiple people to where I could have downed them easily or in to a corner and just stand there instead of downing but they don't get it.

  • I'm PC, was playing Huntress for dailies/tome quests. Saw a lobby of 3 PR3 Laurie's with "######### CONSOLE PLAYERS" as their names, all of them, and a random solo queuer. NGL I dodged it. Don't feel sweaty tonight, thanks.

But i only got 1 to register for the challenge, because that one Survivor i hit twice was using No Mither.

    I feel robbed. 😥

Not sure, I think it took me 2 Ghostface games yesterday, wasn't as hard as many of the others.

  • So, quick research and speculation. I see nothing in the IMDB trailers that looks viable.

Leaks by Daylight says they've added Shards as a currency for purchasing it.

Which implies non-licensed. I showed the video my wife and her first thought was The Fly but after we watched it a few times she said it does look more like a Werewolf.

I was diagnosed with BPD when I was your age, I spent a lot of time in my late teens/early twenties in psyc wards and everything was just really sh*t. A big part of getting better for me was getting treatment, which I hope you can get at some point - but also getting older, BPD often gets a lot less intense than it is as your age. So I know "it gets better" is a cliché but it's usually true for us. Now I'm 30 & starting my master's degree next month, and everything is nuch easier to deal with (including losing in games, I'm very glad I didn't do PvP back then) even though I would never have imagined anything could be even slightly better than the constant misery, rage, self hatred that defined my life for a few years. So hang in there.

My best friend died in 2016 of an unintentional drug overdose. He had been diagnosed with BPD for several years, and there was a noticeable improvement in terms of the mania / depression roller coaster when he was medicated (if not the impulse control).

Sadly he had a gastric bypass, the medicine stopped working, he went downhill fast (in and out of rehab, relationships, etc). I'm 40 now, he died at 39. I was going to post the same # Unicorn did. I'm not a professional but mental health is not a joke. It's still something I think about daily. I'm glad you got the help you needed.

EDIT: I should add BPD is not easy to diagnose, even for professionals, and is often misdiagnosed.

It wouldn't solve anything because it would take time for the "ballast" to adjust to the influx from wither side resulting in false positives. The queue times would still end up all over the place.

It would be better than staying with super long queues for one side until it balances it out from quitters, or never at all, which is what we currently have.

  • @Bjario said:

But if they offer a bp bonus for playing a specific side, then most people will pick that side, and then the other side without a bp bonus will have horrible queue times

And then the bonus would slide back to the other side. That's the point. It's a ballast.

  • Lol. I'm PC, solo queue only, rank 14 currently from the reset as survivor - which I'm bad at -, just left a game with 3 console kids (rank 8/9), I did 3 1/2 gens they ran in circles getting downed, hiding in lockers, crouch walking everywhere.

It was ######### painful to watch with Kindred. I can't even yell at them which is even worse. I'm very tempted to change my in game name to DO A ######### GEN when survivor queuing. In a killer game yesterday, I literally saw a console Claudette named Do A Gen. Now I know why.

EDIT: In fairness, I've seen PC players be as bad if not worse, but at least I can tell them where they ######### up in the lobby at the end.

  • Superman because Batman is just a rich guy in a cape and doesn't have any real super powers.

If you missed a hit because the survivor is spinning, next time lunge while moving back and to a side instead of keeping straight.

And no, fps aren't any issue.

I play PC, but I was under the impression this complaint was because limited killer FoV + locked turning speed from a console stick makes it much harder to actually hit anything.

I can say, from both sides, a 360 might get you dodge once in a while, but most of the time you're gonna get a hit, at least on PC.

•the devs create good killers but since Killers can’t get their precious 4K with them all the time they play spirit , nurse, and huntress

•Hmm when’s the last time these forums were filled with requests for a killer nerf? I haven’t seen any in a hot minute

•only time survivors troll the killer and be toxic is if the killer is toxic first like shaking their head no like if they’re good for no reason.

Congratulations on posting what might be most ignorant thing I've read in at least a week.

    • Anything less than a 4K is a loss. Do you stop at 2 gens? 3 gens? I didn't think so. If I choose to give someone the hatch, I may count that as a win, but the game does not, and I take a BP hit for doing it.
    • Every day, literally. Every. Single. Day. There are multiple nerf Killer X they're so OP threads, often for things that are weak AF like Pig and Clown.
    • No. SWFs in particular try to troll every match like a middle school bully trying to impress their friends throwing an open milk carton at the kid who just moved to their school. T-bagging clicking sweaty tryhards are very much the norm, the higher the rank you are the worse it gets, but they were there on day 1, as red ranks in my rank 20 games, when I started in June.

Are you on mobile or something? Like, you're not even playing the same game.

I've only played 2 crossplay games, but so far I've not had any troubles. But I've only played 2 games. And they weren't red rank killers because I've deranked to Green due to not playing much this month due to data caps.

    Ranks reset today too.
