when artist uses her power for the first time my rig has a heart attack

Ah shoot man hope that gets cleared up, like nemesis all over again in a way :/

I feel there's been more optimization done than just with spirit. Especially on the new map, where I was concerned that could be bugged or optimized badly with all the detail, which has played really smoothly!

I've had a few games as both killer and survivor, and the only issue I had was playing Billy on the Artist map and kept getting caught on low-hanging branches. Still got the 4k, as the map overall works well with Billy, and it was only minorly frustrating.

Otherwise, this is a well-made patch!

So far from what I've read from others, gen repair sounds still linger after they've been completed, killer is able to bodyblock a hook on the new map so that's a scummy downside :/c, others were scouting for some but are optimistic nothing game breaking or visual malfunctions are happening.

A few kinks (potentially but not hoping for any more) in this patch but rather tame (hope that's a good word for it)!

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

    Bugs? Not really many.

Optimisation? Bestie is worse than BHVR's attempt at designing a functional matchmaking system.

    Pretty much yeah lol

I just hope it's not like an enteral groundhog day like the resident evil chapter for some on other consoles when a chapter comes out.

(New) achievements being bugged is hardly something new though..

I thought new achievements always come in on the next day though? Odd, a bug that I thought was just a schedule I gradually adjusted myself for lol

At least I can get some practice in with Artist for the Adept achievement ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

One very apparent and annoying one is the sound that generators are still being repaired, after they’re all done.

Ah ok, I encountered that on my recent match so speak of the devil it's bit annoying yeah but not too much of a hinderance thankfully. Hope that'll be solved in the next patch though

Well Done your probably pc player with access to ptb. I'm console and just started with her

I'm on Xbox and I'm doing just fine as well. Yes, this obviously subjective for you but like you said she has a high learning curve and she's not weak either. A part of me feels like some people in here are SOLELY focused on her power when some moments should just be a basic attack. It's very tempting to use her power like pinhead's in chase but you have to be reasonable. Just because she has a anti-loop power and across the map range doesn't mean you're gonna stomp on coordinated solo Q's or SFW. I feel like she's fine the way she is right now.

She came out today and people are already saying she's weak, needs a Nerf/buff.

  • Are you JUST focusing on using her power?

I use spies from the shadows and that helps with location and occasionally gets a surprise swarm on them.

I feel like it's about using it at the right time INSTEAD of just using it for loops like pyramid head's power. Yes, you can use it there but if they're looping you with a swarm then you can try to push them into the direction of your idle crows to get a hit and they'll move.

Throw on discordance, aura perks, info perks, etc.

New chapter new chances to experiment to see what goes best.

I stopped spending money since Oni and Yui really because of their poor decisions. Never bought a skin with money and sure as hell won't spend any money on this until they fix all the important issues, fix the grind for casuals, put more time into high quality DLC and listen to the community for changes/improvements. I miss the days where we got actual free content that was good and not some cheap bait (Huntress and Nurse).

    Not even Blight?

  • @NemesisDarking said:

I think he is under powered as he moves so slowly sadly and his main event needs some sort of rework as it is awful that it lowers and yet takes a lot of knife hits in one go to acquire the main event.

Yeah the amount of knives to land are harsh, I occasionally forget to activate main event as well. He is in need of some buffs of course, but so far he isn't too bad like the twins when it comes to his power in gameplay.

  • @DragonMasterDarren said:

I've been saving BP for him and am ready to make easy Jojo references

  • @Anniehere said:

I'm excited but also apprehensive. Pretty annoying to play against him several times in a row, i don't like his knives.

Besides, there's something refreshing in this chapter and we will see maps rework after that.

Along with the fact that we could be getting a ALL-KILL neon city map since DBD twitter guy said they're not ruling out that possibility. Same could go for Blight and Twins too.

Yes, I'm the person that jinxed the release of Trickster last week. But now since he will officially be coming out tomorrow, are you excited for the Trickster? Now we're still unsure as to whether or not he's gonna get anymore buffs on release, since they delayed the chapter by a week. Who knows if any work has been done to him since, although we all know he's incredibly weak. I personally am a little bit excited to try him out to get the feel for him, haven't been this excited to play a new killer since Blight came out. Also his perks are definitely gonna be fun to mess around with, especially now since we finally have the ultimate endgame build. Although my expectations are remaining low, I can only have a slither of hope to expect more changes tomorrow. So how you feel about Trickster coming out tomorrow, and what expectations do you have?

I feel somewhat excited. I get to Chuck 60 knives without a care in the world so I'm looking forward to that. The only thing that irks me is how it was delayed for a week and I'm hoping there was at least *some* tweaks during that extra week maybe take care of some bugs. However this killer does seem pretty fun to play. We just gotta wait one more day to see if anything happens.

  • @Mr_K said:

Now that its actually on, can you tell the difference?

Remember it before jumping on another conspiracy bandwagon.

I got a decent survivor team when playing Deathslinger, and one brought a Lery's Offering. To me, I just I saw a difference because I could tell during the beginning they were gen focused until I got a Laurie hooked. They got two gens done and they were stuck on 3 gens for awhile and got one more done, but I kept finding another teammate. I let the last one go, but that match for me since I decided to pick deathslinger since he's one of the killer's I'm good with along with Nurse (getting better with waiting how long I should hold a blink for in a chase) and Pyramid Head. There are other killers too but I guess those main 3 are there for now in terms of how often I play them (until Trickster comes out and I see how I do with him.)

But in that match, they had the mindset of red ranks (I assume) and they prioritized generators, but when someone was hooked they all sort of put gens at second and focused on unhooks and healing. They did put up a fight and it was nerve-wracking in the beginning, but as soon as a teammate was caught everyone put gens at either a close 2nd or 3rd. I sorta see a difference in this

Because holding W is the newest in the list of things I'm told I'm toxic for doing wrong. It was 1/15th of the whole list.

I don't even know True but I saw that video an hour ago in a post safe to say:

He didn't say anything remotely close to what you're making it seem like. He was just demonstrating how long it takes an M1 killer to catch up to a survivor just holding W. Plus he said, "Top Ranks/Strong Survivor Teams" not the average solo Q since strong teams already run with a plan in mind. There was nothing in that video were he said it was toxic to hold W. He obviously left various situations out and specific perks and addressing on that possibility during his analysis, but besides that You're just blowing things waaaaay out of proportion.

I doubt it. They said the next one will be Demo (most likely only Add-Ons, which is fair, since his Basekit is fine).

Freddy is the killer mostly talked about in terms of being overpowered. Demo... Well everybody just loves Demo and the devs are going to show some love to him next. Huntress isn't necessarily a problem since Iri heads aren't present for too many matches I assume. (Maybe they're a different story in red ranks) but with huntress I assume a few add-on reworks are next. They're ironing this out in a specific order

  • @IWasLeft2Die said:

Thanks for being good sports. I pkay a bit of both sides but I more often find killers who are good sports about the game. Whether it's a killer knowing he crushed a team and let the last couple eacape/farm, similar if a player dcs right away or is afk at start, and finally for survivors who actively try to screw the team. It does make the game more enjoyable having mercy every now and then especially if it's for reasons outside of your control.

I try to be a nice killer to the best of my abilities. It feels good getting those nice messages from others. A simple thing kind killers or survivors do can really uplift someone's day, which is also why I'll search for an item and leave it to the killer before I escape as survivor

She chased me multiple times. I’m not going to just randomly take a hit for my teammates or just stand there and let her hit me. That’s a stupid move.

Look man, if you held off well in a chase healthy to the point where Pig would give up on you, and using your post as context for this situation you could've been a team player and took a hit for your teammate. If Pig did go after you then I'm fairly certain you can loop her for awhile in the injured state like you would when you were in the healthy state.

  • @ALostPuppy said:

I have not once seen anyone call Deathslinger "OP". I've seen him called "boring" but never overpowered. Seems like you're just intentionally missing the point like everyone else.

But the one opinion that annoys me is "Demo and The Twins are low tier"

Hoo boy I guess you missed out on mid spring/summer 2020 forums where Spirit, Pyramid Head, AND Deathslinger we're all talked about 24/7 it was mostly no counterplay, but I have seen some posts saying Deathslinger was OP here and there.

  • @CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:

Thank you for clarifying, but what's your point really? Do you simply wanna inform? Pass on a message perhaps? Or got annoyed in a trial because the survivors accused you of what you've counterargued already?

Moreso it's just inform about mirror myers. That last part was an example to prove their point

  • This reminds me of Identity V's 5v5 mode, with some tune ups on this, it can have potential

  • O i, J o s u k e

No offense devs but for me its really worrisome that every new chapter PTB's new Killers are weak as hell. Like are you guys that afraid to make Killers Strong as hell? I understand its a PTB but why are the recent ones weak as hell(on PTB). PH was the last one for me that was decent in the PTB anyways.

I think they jump back and forth between skill and fun. Blight was the perfect killer in terms of skill and fun (hence why he's widely loved in this community), However the Twins were supposed to fill this next section towards skill. However things didn't go as planned in that chapter. So next in this pattern Trickster was made for fun instead of skill (hence the 60 knives and throwing them all at a rapid pace) unlike huntress and Deathslinger where you have to be skilled in making shots/hits count with your power and being conservative of it in the meantime.

    Long story short:

Devs Make a skill based killer last chapter went bad, now they're going focus on this one being a fun killer to play. We can only assume that MAYBE the next killer will skill based and continue the pattern of

skill -> fun -> skill -> fun -> and that perfect killer that does both

  • I find ghostface amusing, because seeing him patrolling for the survivors standing tall and looking serious, but when he chases you he looks like a kid on Christmas running to the presents

  • @Kebek said:

I'll be refering to him as DIO as often as I can anyway.

Same here, the devs knew what they were doing with this one

  • I like his design... Sorta. While I like the devs approach towards this it's done pretty well, however I do wish instead of being shirtless he could wear a furcoat or something. But all in all I like how this went!

  • I mean you can't forget the killer *is* labelled as easy for his difficulty. He's not like huntress since she has hatchets and they're VERY limited so she requires skill to pinpoint well and aim at the survivor. It makes you feel good that being conservative of what you have left in your power while also being satisfied that you landed a hatchet hit

Trickster is a young lad who's been given an energetic and full of himself ego, he's got 60 knives and I feel like this route for him is understandable even if it comes out as skill-less in the end however I can see where devs put skill into consideration when they added the ricochet Add-on to his power in hopes of trick-shots that players would have to achieve for skill, but all in all while some part of the player base truly like skill-based killers there's also that side that likes fun killers gameplay wise. The Twins filled that spot for the skilled based side, The Trickster is filling up this spot for the fun based side of others, we'll have another Blight soon we'll just have to wait until that time

  • @dspaceman20 said:

I wanna know the potential counters to his ability in order to play well. Has anyone noticed anything that could be a good counter?

Line of sight, stealth, dead hard, some Loops, it depends if the killer/player's legitmate skill to actually pinpoint an accurate direction to land it's knives.... Theoretically speaking at least 😅

while I like the new killer the barrage of knives and going all willy nilly with it makes also remember why he was labeled as easy for his difficulty

  • I like the new killer because even though other shows and movies do it too, it just gives me that Dio feel when he just throws knives at a rapid speed which makes me enjoy the killer especially the personality they gave him and letting him occasionally talk, he's not scary looking but however his design is still unique in terms of joining the DBD roster, while dbd was made as a scary game the devs are taking a different approach. Anything can be given that "scary" aesthetic and makeover as long as it's done properly and the devs showed that well in this one

  • @Mooks said:

    Oh you didn’t notice?

but you are making a thread about how sexuality doesn’t belong into a game that already has sexuality in it?

sorry but it just seems like your actual problem is not sexuality but solely LGBTQ+.

It's probably because they didn't notice about any of the characters sexualities in game mostly because they never really thought it mattered even with straight characters. I guess for characters like nurse it was included for her lore purposes but we just saw it as, "oh ok, I guess that's her lore, time to queue up for a match"

I can also see why that people would want a LGBTQ character, because it'll feel good to have one I wouldn't immediately jump to that conclusion that they would have a problem with LGBTQ as a whole that's a very hasty assumption since they even themselves said they weren't homophobic nor have any problems, and it was just something they didn't notice. Their wording in their post probably gave off that feeling

  • @Ivaldi said:

I know people love the killer, but personally I just don't get it. Nothing screams scary about it.

I don't think this community really cares on what's "scary" nobody really bases new killers on how scary they'll be, this community is mostly focused on how fun the killer is gameplay wise. I like the new killer because of how fun he looks to play. Character design wise he's not scary, but it's unique. There's obviously nothing wrong with DBD also being scary and going back to it's roots, but right now this i like this approach the devs did

If I suspect someone using spine chill I just walk backwards a little bit since it only activates when you directly look at the killer, it's helped me out a bit when I play killer, and it was the first perk I used as survivor when I joined this game

So just now we got this teaser on their Twitter:

    https://twitter.com/DeadByBHVR/status/1366418113173028875?s=20

Which seems to be a conversation between two people, one named "YUN-JIN" and one UNKNOWN. YUN-JIN sounds like a woman, whilst UNKNOWN sounds like a dude. This is held entirely in Korean but thankfully someone in the comments translated it:

    https://twitter.com/gaypast/status/1366418552790605827?s=20

    https://twitter.com/gaypast/status/1366418980437655554?s=20

@Beelzeboop I know Twitter doesn't work for you so:

"YUN-JIN: The interview that was held on Saturday was canceled. And on that day, don't come near the studio and take a break. It may be difficult... that day...

    UNKNOWN: What day is special?

YUN-JIN: Saturday is that day... That's a year from the day of the fire.

UNKNOWN: Then everyone will pay attention. Hold the interview again. you can do it."

    Theory time.

In the "selfie" tweet bhvr did captioned, "I'm feeling it 🔥💥"

There's already a fire and an explosion which possibly supports this fire theory. Though a part of me really wants this killer to rewind time instead of it being fire based due to the rewinding song teaser we got, but all in all the devs have been hyping this chapter a lot which makes me excited, but also nervous at the same time. But they've been doing a lot hyping up for this chapter recently so they seem pretty confident on what they're going to show us

  • @Chordyceps said:

So because the teaser we got is really short and I'm trying to latch onto anything I can to try and find out what the ability might be, I've become interested in the part of the video where the track is rewinded. This makes me think that rewinding could be part of the killer's ability. I made a fan chapter one time with a killer who's ability allowed them to "rewind", quickly returning them to their location a few seconds ago. My guess is the ability might include something like that. I also considered it was included just to pad out the run time of the trailer, but I feel like the track easily couldve just looped a few more times if the intention was to make it longer.

What are y'alls thoughts? Is the rewind potentially relevant, or am I just grasping at straws here because I just gotta?

I also think that this is in fact the killer teaser, cause the teasers usually are, and the screen we saw had a blood stain on it.

A time killer is hella cool. Psyches up the dormant Jojo fan in me. Playing as someone who can either, stop, rewind/fast forward, accelerate or skip time just sounds fun to me. If the devs actually found a way to implement such a HUGE power into a game like this where time is pretty much your friend or enemy depending on how you spend it sounds cool! Especially since this power in question sounds SUPER op when suggested, but who knows the devs created a two in one killer and found a way to add a gunslinger in this game

  • In the end dude is it really that big of a problem? We have a Chinese Gamer (Feng Min), A Nervous Leader (Dwight), Ash, a Heavily botched Quentin, along with a famous TV show host (Jane), and a Black lady who joined a cult then escaped the cult via going to the entity's realm (Elodie).

Surely a popstar survivor isn't too bad of an addition, along with not being too out of the ordinary compared to some of the characters who like feng min for example was in Pro Tournaments and Jane being a famous TV show host. While I'm not a huge fan of kpop I truly don't understand why people hate this character in question so much. Is it because the devs are doing a trend everyone else is doing? Or because it's not "horror like" (although let's face it until they add ceiling climbing mannequins or legitmately scary killer that can scare you in game by surprise DBD isn't gonna be scary for awhile)

I'm sort of iffy if the new killer IS the popstar, because well... I mean we have a roster of bloodied mutated killers then you just see a brightly colored diva. But if the new teaser suggests they can rewind time than that's hella cool overall you know. Hard to implement, but if the devs work out something for that power than it's surprising.

The only thing I'm concerned about this upcoming chapter is the amount of teasers we've been getting. It seems like they're hyping this up A LOT which worries me if they might get HELL TON of bugs like Binding of Kin and all that hype was just overall disappointment.

Here's the thing about winning in this game, its very rare as both survivor and killer

BBQ is a great perk to use on any killer, very helpful.

Anyway, when you play killer, don't expect to win, just get whatever kills you can. And if someone trashes you about it, they're just sore winners and just say gg to prove you're the better sport

Idk if it's just me, but when it comes to this game saying "gg" feels like it could be immediately interpreted as toxic/smug behavior to someone else depending on whichever side won that's just me though

They said they aim to have 2 original and 2 licensed (and year 4 had 1 licensed and 2 original) but that’s not set in stone and generally they try to have more original than licensed ones.. so i wouldn’t be too sure about the next one being guaranteed licensed (even though I do expect it to be one..)

Ahhhh alrighty I'll try to keep that in mind it also seems like their logo changed on Twitter (if it's even still there and I'm late to it somehow), but it looks like something glitchy. I'm trying to remember what character had associated with glitches then again this is only a small change lol

  • Turns out it's a strong dev/programming related killer.

"The Coder" has the powers over DBD Nerf perks that pose a threat, nerf yourself but get rewarded in the process (like a hex totem) or buff yourself and survivors while also get rewards for your risk

A killer that even the entity has to ZERO hold or control of.

  • Well we already had two original killers Blight and Twins. The next one is a License one since devs told us this process on steam once. 2 original killers and 1 License Killer afterwards. I personally feel like Resident Evil has a High chance in this. Idk why it just feels likely with Tyrant, Prof. X, or possibly Lady Dimitriescu.

I'm sort of hoping for a Evil Within 2 crossover. It'd be cool to get a wall/ceiling climbing killer or probs one of the BioShock enemies

    that is the middleground.

the mori activates after everyone was hooked at least once.

that would eliminate 5 gen first hook mori tunnels, give some counterplay to the offering AND would leave enough power for it to still be powerfull and worth running.

There are many ideas to rework Mori, not just sticking "requires a hook or two to mori"

    • Requires hook everyone at least once to Mori
    • Only able to Mori 1 survivor instantly without require any hook, when there are ??? Gen left

Basically require "something" (just not only hook), to able to Mori 1 or more survivors.

Ah I see, I mean I understand 2 hook ebony, but this change for ivory moris could've had a different route

  • But you said that it was ridiculously OP then saying it was useless like their was a middle route they could've chose

  • @Mister_xD said:

    cool.

they just shifted from ridiculously OP to absolutely useless.

    sigh

How else could they have made this work out?

They. Could. Have. Waited. The fact they said they where going to work on both, only released one (on the survivors side of course), and did it during a HOTFIX instead of a full patch just comes off as...I don't even know really, its such a mix of so many bad and ill informed choices I can't describe it.

    Here's the thing:

Yeah they could've waited but just imagine how much people would've been equally as upset to where some could go, "why did you put something on hold for so long that should've been released ages ago?" Then again there's other old time bugs in the game that will have these statements said later on, but you and I both know there will be that **ONE** person who'll ask that (along with the majority who will agree with that person).

But either way when the devs do something that'll seem like a good way to go to some they'll get flamed for the majority who thought the other way. (Btw I mean no aggressiveness or ill will towards just saying this in a respective way)

  • @Vetrathene said:

Because right now your literally proving you favor survivors over killers. Its the most solid proof you have ever given.

Devs literally said they're fixing BOTH keys and moris WAAAAY back around blight or pyramid Head came along, there's nothing survivor sided about this. They fixing bugs for the buggiest chapter while also giving victor a ground up animation for the locker problem, and then giving the downed incapacitated survivor the blood warden delay so they can't escape immediately after being downed.

Plus moris being tweaked aren't the end, you just have to work for them a bit more to activate them. I play both sides, and I understand what it's like getting keys & Annotated Blueprint games. (They S U C K) because you're constantly on edge and dreading about the eventually teabagging and clicky clicky at hatch. But it's nothing to show that the devs are biased over. Keys will get their nerf/tweak it all comes down to how they make those changes for keys.
