So something ive noticed while being a viewer on the boards climbing to red ranks on killer and playing survivor to prepare for cross plat ive noticed that no matter what you do they will complain. they will complain even if they are the ones forcing scenarios they complain about. what am i to do if i hook someone and their is 2 of you right next to him waiting for me to leave. give up the free hook? their are more examples but they all lead back to the same issue. no matter what the killer does you the survivor player base got something to complain about it. and im wondering how would they want us to play?

They don't. Most of the most vocal and biased ones would rather you be a bot on easy mode like a cardboard cut out in a haunted house and no real threat at all.

This is a great milestone for the games health. You are absolutely correct that it will help keep the game active, especially in regions less populated like Oceania. I'm so happy to have lightning fast matchmaking in NZ.

I'm NA EST PC and day time queues are usually ~15+ minutes for killer, they're literally 10 seconds now. It's great.

  • It's the height of entitlement to think you deserve faster queues at the expense of someone else's. You can turn it off. There isn't anything else to be said about it, and I hope BHVR ignores the console crybaby crowd openly advocating for segregation from ONE platform.

  • @FGC_Brute said:

So I've been playing today, but...how do you know when someone is playing on a different platform? I know there is suppose to a be icons but I still don't understand..

It puts a little globe by their name in the lobby.

  • My expectations were a lot lower, I was expecting a buggy mess, maybe a slight improvement in queue times maybe even worse ones. My reticence was completely unfounded and this is by far the best thing I've seen them do since I started playing in late June during the anniversary event.

    This is amazing. Great job.

  • I've played several games as different PC Killers and other than dramatically faster queue times there is no difference. I still lose most matches, but there is no toxic end game chat at all.

Is anybody else having their games crash while loading in when XPlay is enabled?

    None so far.

I take it you’re a PC player then. We want the faster queue times, but if you’ve even played one game on one of the consoles you would realise how bad the FPS is compared to PC.

It's true that my video card cost more than your console. It's also true that I would be lucky to get a solid non-stuttery 30 fps. Don't assume everyone has $5000 gaming rigs or that performance issues are limited to your platform, because they aren't.

EDIT: Also, why should you get faster match making at the expense of mine?

  • You'll know it's a console easily, because no one talks ######### in end game chat 🤣

  • 2nd match, 10 seconds, I'm literally watching the clock. Both lobbies full of crossplay icons.

  • My brain automatically added the word Rage before Quit in this post, I had to read it twice. Conditioning at its finest.

    Top man! Thanks as always!

I've run out of things to spend the BPs on and am just waiting for new chapter to hit!

I could not understand why anyone would be trying to save BP. I guess it makes sense if you have 3000 hours and literally everything else maxed. As a new player this seems, well, impossible. I have nearly 500 hours and don't even have all teachable perks unlocked much less "what do I do with all this BP" problem.

  • @Zeus said:

Seen a lot of people using self care. Is there a reason? Players I play with are red ranks with the meta perks so I think they know what they are doing...or do they?

    Rank reset /s

  • Honestly, I hope they do. All the cross platform players will hopefully help abysmal queue times. On the other hand, I frequently see PS4 and other console players complain about long survivor queues, whereas on PC right now those are instant, it's killer who wait 20 minutes, so a drop in one may cause an increase in the other.

  • It's a leaks by daylight rumor that it's supposed to be today but there have been no official announcements that I've seen.

    Turn off chat.

First, stop worrying about what anybody says about you playing a killer or running a certain build. You're restricting yourself because of ones opinion.

For a killer, I would suggest either clown or plague. Mostly due to their perks that often help you map pressure. Plague is fun and easy to play, especially when corrupt is activated. Clown is weaker but strong in 1v1, fun imo

Plague is bugged, Clown is bad. Not saying they're not fun though. I have all killers. OP is asking a very subjective question that really no one can answer but them.

  • @Aneurysm said:

Yeah definitely, it doesn't have to be 6 months even but just stop squirting out new killers/survivors/maps when half the roster aren't even working properly. They clearly don't have the resources to be constantly making new killers when the bugs affecting the current ones are now largely just being ignored.

I bet they make the most money on licenses. I doubt they will stop printing money for bug fixes.

    Capture.PNG

I've barely played him at all, looks like I'm not alone, but I bet tons of people bought the Silent Hill Chapter.

  • @Alec1055 said:

So we have a ton of white characters because, obviously. But for POC characters we have Jane, Zarina, and Ace maybe. Three... we only have three POC characters. The same is with black characters... the three black characters are, claud, Tapp and Adam. Which is even worse because we only have ONE black woman which is the most hated group of people for some reason even though they’re the prettiest on the planet. And the Tapp is a licensed character so they didn’t even take the time to design the character and choose the race so practically there’s only two. And then theirs two Asians. Come on bhvr gives us more POC! And if you have a new chapter idea and survivor who is white just change them to black. It costs no effort whatsoever

    Why?

    @Flawless_ said:

Ahhh yes, we need this, definitely more than bug fixing and balancing. I don’t care if I take a hit from 10m away as long as there’s more POC in the game.

As a “person of color” myself I’m asking you please not to go there and let the devs focus on the issues that are more pressing, like game health...maybe? I don’t want the game I love to get cancelled :’(

    Well said.

This is pretty much every red rank SWF. Either you let them escape and get ######### talked, or you win and get ######### talked. Btw there was no tunneling, I don't get why he even mentioned that tbh.

There was much more said but you get the idea. The people that say "my swf group isnt like this", I find you are either not being truthful or you are in a very small minority. Red ranks are filled with nothing but this salt.

I'm bouncing between rank 4/5 and probably 90% of 3/4 man SWF (there is always an SWF it's just a matter of how many, 2 3 4? 2 x 2?) I face are exactly like this, I'm frankly surprised they weren't all 1/2. My chat default is closed.

They're all ESL. There are tons of semantic/word use errors in the back stories.

Alarm, strats for people who enjoy long games

Why use nurse or spirit when you have doctor? Why use memento mori, when you can crush their spirits and will? Here's the build of the slug king, if somebody ever tells you to apply pressure, you spit this build in their face next time you meet them, because this Doctor applies to much pressure that it turns ######### into rocks and carbon into diamonds.

    So, how do you play.

    You pick Doctor.

You take 2 calm addons to make your terror radius huge.

You take Distressing, Coulrophobia, Sloppy butcher and Infectious Fright.

Distressing to make your terror radius as huge as your confidence in victory.

Sloppy to make healing harder + synergy with coulrophobia

Coulrophobia to make healing almost impossible, though the main reason you take this perk is to make getting up dying survivors impossible unlesss you let them, since healing that last bit of recovery takes unexpectingly longer for survivor which gives you an easy hit and so on.

Infectious Fright to give you tracking.

The entire idea of this build is to force survivors into endless cycle of being downed, recovered and desperately trying to get their team up. If they decide to sit on gens, they basically allow you to slug other 2-3 and go for them, lock their ability to heal and end the game and if they all throw gens to attempt to heal, they are playing by your rules and not progressing towards their objective, so it's a win-win to you.

Use static blast in the beginning to find them and don't use it until you are unable to find survivors/you need to apply 3rd madness to last survivor(s) in order to make any comeback impossible for them. Slap them, slug, slug and slug. Never hook them, let them bleed out. It works even better if you know how to shock therapy survivors to end loops faster (otherwise you don't apply enough pressure). You are going to slowly drain all resources they have like unbreakables, fast heals and so on. Since your terror would either be map-wide or 10-12 meters and you also make healing take ages, at some point survivors would simply give up on healing and try to genrush you, which wouldn't work since they are basically oneshot`able and you would just slug 2-3 survivors and find the last one.

3-4 genning with that strat is especially evil, though I don't recommend doing that unless you are forced to, since 1 mistake can cost you a game, however if you are sure you won't make any, survivors will learn what despair is.

If you want to be truly sadistic, you can throw in Gideon/Hawkings, where you terror would cover 90% of the map, making any efforts of escaping your coulrophobia grasp totally futile.

Of course this can be countered. Of course this does not guarantee you a victory. Of course this is boring in terms of a default "fun" which is super fast games. Who cares. Although if you master Doc's shock therapy, a game with that build would give survivors PTSD every time they face a doc. Have fun!

Calm doesn't say it stacks. Why not Unnerving Presence or Knockout maybe both instead of deer hunter/infectious? Never tried a build like this, just curious.

  • Have been all day, never were unlocked.

One of the issues I have noticed in dbd is how fast it deteriorates your controller/keyboards and I really hate it.

So I want to see how this could work by changing the second stage to work almost EXACTLY like second stage in cages WHILE still keeping the idea of the survivor doing something to keep them active during it.

When a survivor enters the second stage of struggle, you will get a skill-check every 3 seconds, everytime you hit a skill-check the next one will get smaller and smaller until you miss one, reducing the total time left in the second stage by 20% and resets the skill check size.

This is the start of making dbd more “controller/keyboard friendly” and I plan on changing the wiggle as well

Keyboard macro. 1 keypress = infinite spacebar. 1 keypress = infinite struggle. Pretty sure you can get controllers that will repeat a button, at least they did when I was a kid, IDK if they can macro, but if it's connected to a computer it definitely can.

  • I haven't seen even one today, which is highly unusual actually.

So my most recent game was awful. For starters they sent me to Ormond despite my map offering for Midwich. Then they gen rush me so I patrol 3 gens close by. Then I get a hook and the exit gates are open so I stand near the hook. They are still able to get the save however and use a key to get in the hatch before I can hook another one. I was playing legion by the way. Anyway what you all do when you match up against these groups ? I am a purple rank killer by the way so I don't get why I matched with all of these red ranks :(

Those 2 perks are a must run for me, ruin never does it for me anymore. I only run ruin on Mikey but the totem gets destroyed before I'm even in level 3

Exact same thing. It’s game breaking when you get a scummy killer who abuses that glitch by refusing to pick you up and hook you until the end. I’m really going to be avoiding that spot now.

How about traitor teammates who lead the killer to you for a free kill so they get the hatch? Just happened to me, I solo queue only.

Not like you can change your Killer and pretty much already have your perks and add-ons equipped so I usually take a quick peek at the profiles to see if I'm dealing with SWF or a streamer since they're usually in SWF teams anyways. Does anyone else do this and adjust accordingly so they won't get bullied into the ground?

I used to, but SWF is so common I just assume there is at least 2 or 3 man, there always is, if they're all geared out to compliment each other or all wearing the same skin with variations of the same name it's pretty obvious if they're a 4 man. Most have private profiles or at least private friend's lists anyway.

Dead Dawg, something about the dev's take on using breakable walls in an original map and the effort put in to the surroundings really just is icing on the cake for me. The gameplay may be meh to some, but I love that map tbh. Makes me creative in escaping/chasing.

Best map, on both sides, easily my favorite. Tumbleweeds, dead piano player, corpse picking buzzards, what's not to like? Well, basement placement sucks when it's in the corner but other than that. As survivor, killers never check the room in the saloon that has no doors and only breakables, free heals.

Stoked. And surprised, I didn't think I could do it with no addons lol

How are my perks btw? I don't think I could manage to drop any of them for any other perk atm.

Well maybe Nurses Calling as it's more of a 'nice to have' for easy free blink hits.

You don't need birds or whispers, but you do you. I'd trade at least one of those for Sloppy Butcher to give Nurse's Calling and Stridor more value.

Hook are everywhere since they are main way to complete killer's objective. Problem is when you get maps with hills, floors, walls etc that mess with hook generation since it doesn't take into account the bonus distance created by the obstacles.

I don't have much of a problem with it, I'll just slug everyone and force them to bleed out if I can't hook them due to poor RNG. Problem is, that isn't much fun for everyone. I don't mind slugging everyone for 4 min but I'd rather get over with the game at that point insted of waiting 4 min jusrt cause.

Pretty much. I'm forced to slug more than I'd like to, honestly.

Overestimating a little aren't we. pairs are pretty common but every game isn't just sweaty 4 stacks. I love this notion that ever group of red ranks are SWF. Solos and Duos can be good at the game and smash killers you know

Depends, if I play Trapper it's every game, because I play him a lot. If I play, as I mentioned elsewhere, Deathslinger for a daily like last night where I almost never play him, it's noobs, still, half of them SWF, but confused and scared - which frankly is how all survivors should be.

Right. Which is why it's a shame there was never a actual nightmare map. That would have been pretty wicked. Considering being in the dream world most of the game to begin with. As it is now in each map just makes the worlds brighter. 🤷‍♂️

  • @ReviloDBD said:

ACTUALLY someone said something smart in here...

IF there were 2 separate ques entirely, 1 Que for SOLO Survivors aka Solo Que

    And another for SWF Survivors.

A Killer can choose which they would like to play against, Solo or SWF , and there could be a BONUS Reward in BP or XP or whatever else for a Killer that chooses to play against SWF!

The incentive for the BP + XP Bonus for Killers playing against SWF should be enough to still get Killers to pick SWF matches! And they could even add a little "Top 100" SWF Killers Ranking Chart or something for a little added motivation. It would actually create almost like an "actual Ranked" matchmaking as opposed to the way it is now, and the Solo Que players and Killers can remain mostly for casuals.

This would actually work pretty well in my opinion! And may solve a lot of these issues people keep trying to find solutions to.

EDIT: Honestly I'm not even that great of a Killer, but if I could get 100% Bonus XP/BP for choosing to play against a SWF Team I would most likely pick it almost every time! Unless I was just having a really rough day and didn't feel like being bullied at all and wanted a more chill casual game.. which does happen, but now the way things are I just choose to not even play DBD when I'm in such a mood because DBD games are always 100% sweaty now especially given the current matchmaking system.

I miss having casual games on DBD haha. But yeah with a Bonus incentive I am sure I would be picking to play against SWF win or lose quite often.

They will never split the queues, especially considering how long they are now, maybe they get better tomorrow with crossplay but I doubt it.

They can and should already be giving huge BP bonuses for playing against SWF and they should be clearly marked - both the bonus and the SWF.

EDIT: I would also like to re-iterate what the OP said because over half of these postS are the same, tired, wrong "BUH BUH BUT QUEUE DODGERS!!?!!"

🤔 Well, like I said, if SWFs aren't such an issue, it wouldn't hurt to let everybody know they are going against SWF.

And if everybody is going to dodge SWF, then SWF is an issue that needs to be addressed. 🤔

  • @gatsby said:

I've noticed since the MMR change that the variety of Killers I get has drastically changed. Before it was a super mixed bag, now its much more consistent.

My theory is that the MMR system essentially creates a tier list in the matchmaking. Killers are inherently stronger than others so the playerbases of stronger Killers and weaker Killers are boxed into specific MMRs. So your MMR level means you get Killers on a similar power level to your Survivor skill.

In my games, most of my Killers are HUNTRESS (like I kid you not I have back to back games of Huntress regularly and they're different players too), Ghost Face, Hag, Wraith, Deathslinger and Bubba. I haven't seen a Plague, Doctor, Legion, Demo, Nurse or Billy in weeks.

It's about popularity too. Since all Killers have their own MMR, you're effectively punished for playing the ones you like (and thus play more often, and are therefore better at).

Example, my daily yesterday was for Deathslinger. I have maybe played him 4 or 5 times total. I am currently red rank 4, half my lobby was rank ~16. I suck as Deathslinger, but I'm not new, got 1 disconnect, one death, and I let the other two win to farm my reel hits. The 16 David had no idea ######### was going on and kept running from me like a scared rabbit even after I let him got like 6 times and carried him to a gen repeatedly. It was pretty funny, they did thank me after the game saying they had been getting absolutely stomped multiple games in a row, pretty sure the last 2 were SWF.

1 … 3 4 5 6 7 8
