I'm not sure what your idea of overreacting is. I've seen people upset over the potential Ruin changes but nothing too crazy. BHVR wants to drastically change Ruin without trying to remedy the reason so many people run it. I think a bit of frustration is valid.
My thoughts exactly. They used a band aid solution to fix a problem then rip the band aid off without actually fixing the problem.

Feel like this might also result in abit less diversity of the killers seen. If 2 gens get popped before you can cross the map as Clown as opposed to Billy... you're more likely to see even more Billys and less Clowns. Personally... its complete coincidence that I started practicing Billy at about the same time that the ruin change was announced.
Yep I get the feeling unless you can quickly cross the map, slow the game down, stealth, Instadown, or some combination of these then the killer will most likely be weaker then before.
I actually legitimately hate this update. I don't mind the changes to Ruin or Doctor, but I do strongly hate what the Dev's are clearly saying about "survivors fun or balance towards new players". To me all this change says is "survivors fun matters more then a killer enjoying themselves too".
I'm so glad I long ago forced myself to abandon Ruin. Still this does not make it right a lot of people used it because they were told too, but then some players needed it whime others hated the map RNG.

OH no I'm good and it suck well first this is a 3 year game so of course there is someone who is looking for ruin like me so it be gone in a sec.
Second it a waste of perk like you new and suck on it and use it then I get it but if you a top killer like me and I don't use it but you use it well you suck because I'm a wraith main and get 3 to 4 k without never use it which is sad.
Third it boring join every game and find right away someone using ruin like that is old time try something new because ruin is not what you need to win and is not the end of the world is ruin is gone so yea that is my reason.
Funny part is I dont use Ruin on Wraith either so your flex is pretty sad since you never know what people play. I guess this makes me a "top tier killer" by your standards since I also get 4k with Wraith commonly without Ruin.
Either way not sure if you said you play it for 3 years or it's just been out your not exactly clear with your punctuation or statements, but if at the point you have been playing since Hags release and have issues with Ruin skill checks on a common basis. Then its not the game or the killers fault it's yours.
It's also used a lot because a lot of killers have yet to learn ample pressure because they have been using it since rank 20 or whenever they play without it get a semi optimal team that knows how to press M1. Also if your a "top tier killer" you would also understand why it's so commonly used even by players who don't need it. Hitting red ranks once or twice doesn't make you special mate.

Well honest ruin is toxic and it sad that they say they need ruin to win like ruin is not the key to win when 80% it get destroyed then what can they do about it. It a damn distraction and toxic and desperate perk instead of me who use blood warden infection frights nurse calling and noed I always have fun and get a 3k or 4k by having no complain and no tunnel and no camping but I see a lot of time that people who use Ruins will camp it and if you destroy it then you get tunnel and face camp which again it a distraction and it sad that we don't get a fair match so yea I really happy it got nerf so maybe no one use it anymore and not complain about it anymore.
I like new Ruin xD I'll start using it because it's quite good.

Majority of maps are balanced with a few exceptions (Haddonfield and Asylum for Survivors/Hawkins and Game for Killers). Coldwind, and Ormond, while known to be survivor-sided, can still work out for the killer - especially Billy, Huntress, Spirit, Freddy, and possibly Nurse.
There is always Haunted Grounds and possibly Thrill of the Hunt to counter Inner Strength.
Adrenaline is hit or miss; it is either amazing, or it may end up becoming a useless perk.
Decisive Strike is one-time use; slugging is a great option.
Unbreakable is one-time use and is hit or miss.
Self-care is countered by Sloppy Butcher, and Thanatophobia.
---
The killer perks I listed above is still enough to slow the game with or without Ruin. Genrush does not really exist; you need to apply better pressure. Killers are not entitled to 4Ks each and every time (while survivors shouldn't expect to escape each game either).
Besides, killers will receive more bloodpoints than survivors no matter what. 😉
I think it's more about the fact Killer players want to sit down and enjoy the game too. Kinda hard to do when the one perk that made it so you wont have to sweat every game or helps balance out the Map RNG was basically just destroyed. Nothing like telling a player to get better when they have bad map design and lose a gen or 2 by walking across the map to apply the pressure.
It's also gave a massive message to killers basically saying "was too hard and unfun for survivors to deal with" which is not exactly a good business plan.
It's not like you can't play without Ruin killers do it on a regular basis. Well most do just a few DC when it gets destroyed.
Either way long run this will just increase survivor que times. Not sure by how much, but imma guess it's going to be noticable.

He's not, though. Balance in video games refers to the scale of winnable vs beatable in an asymmetrical game. A godlike Billy player (let's say..Marth, who actually is god tier with most killers) can dominate a 4 man SWF one round with Billy, and then get his ass handed to him the next round by solos. It's happened. He's balanced. He can be strong, but he can also be beaten like a mule.
You are incorrect.
By that logic all top tier killers are balanced, but Behaviours idea of balance is bad......wait a second
Jokes aside I do think he needs an additional 1 second added to the restart of a chainsaw after a failed attack on a survivor. Not sure of its annoyance by the fact 90% of Billy's are crap players and despite the fact they keep trying to chainsaw you even though they need to M1 you because there is no other way or I just can't stand constant chainsawing behind me, beside me, next to me, in front of me because of all the bad Billy's.
I do know how to play him I just find him incredibly boring outside curving.

The only change I can see the devs make to Billy other than add-ons is making him take the same time as Demo and Oni to break pallets. They most likely won't change anything else.
Not that I want him nerfed just adjusted for his cooldown after a missed chainsaw attack, but the moment they touch him we ready know he will go the way of Legion and Nurse.

No killer main thinks Billy is overpowered. That's how I know you're lying.
That's because I dont need Billy for a 4k. Actually Billy is one of the few killers i refuse to use because i feel he is unbalanced. I never said he was overpowered just unbalanced dont out words into my mouth.
You can believe what you want though I particularly don't care. I will always think Billy needed a rework even before Nurse and Spirit.

Everything you said about billy can be summed up with "I'm not as good at the game as I think I am".
As well, DS comes into play without tunneling all the time. Survivors use it as a superman perk to take protection hits because they know it makes them invincible.
I love how you attempt to act like I'm a bad survivor when I dont play that much survivor anymore and I still think Billy is inherently broken even as a Killer, but ya I'm a bad survivor for thinking Billy is a unbalanced and unfun Killer.
DS is good because one person gives the whole team an extra health state from killers who would rather avoid the DS stun so leave them slugged. Yet don't realize sometimes taking the stun can be beneficial as well. It just depends on the state of the game and the portion of the game your in.
-
@grayon444 said:
Are you THAT killer that dc's when their ruin is gone in the first 5 seconds of the match by any chance?Good killers shall adapt, bad ones shall whine.
I've only ever seen a handful of killers do that over the years. Either way this update it not exactly even close to being killer friendly. A lot of what Ruin did was make the huge maps more manageable. There are times people can walk from one side of a map to the other and lose a gen solely because of the map size.
-
@Daddy_Ding_Dong said:

Nothing fun about a survivor who can just hit a skillcheck and stun you for 5 seconds after running in your face cause they know they're invincible.
If he fails his chainsaw, there's like 2 seconds where he can't do anything. Even after he hits a successful one, he already has a cooldown.
Get good.
Lmao funny you think I have a issues with Billy because I think he's broken. He's just inherently broken and stupid. More people are carried by Billy then any other killer because his chainsaw has no real cool down. On ya 2 seconds big whoop because you know totally not some addons for it. Nothing like having a bad Billy literally trying to chainsaw you miss and attempt again and again till they realize it's time to go. Or worse terrible Billy using instasaw and reving behind you because he can't even play Billy and back revs are all he can do. I see more people trying to back rev and people who keep missing and trying then people who know how to curve.
You know though git gud maybe something might happen. Same to you man same to you. If anything in this game was deleted I hope it's Billy because of how obnoxiously annoying he is.
DS has it's own issues, but after the ruin rework we can pretty much tell it wont ever be changed to a balanced state.
Though if DS is affecting you maybe you shouldn't tunnel and take obvious bait. Have you considered getting good?
-
@Daddy_Ding_Dong said:
Yep. Hillbilly, possibly the most balanced killer in the game, will get a cooldown on his chainsaw.

Their stats are not and have never been a good measure for any sort of metric regarding killer/survivor performance. There's too many variables that go unmeasured for that information to be valuable. Also, one of the developers (Peanits) mentioned that this data shouldn't be taken to heart somewhere on this form (too lazy to look for it).
You say that, but literally every argument with a survivor main happens to be "the stats say this" so I saved this to screw with people.

Would explain why they care so little about the perspective for Killer players. I'm not saying AI is not capable of playing killer, but I doubt it will be good. There is also a thrill about playing against another person, there is a reason multiplayer versus games are so popular.
Nah they have collected years worth of data from killer play at red ranks and data from people expected to be the very best at specific killers. Expect the nastiest most oppressive playstyles available and then right as that second person dies the AI basically goes toddler mode.

They should just as well have AI after this nerf lol the changes will destroy killers without map pressure limiting viability even more.
Spirit, Billy, Huntress, Feddy, Hag, Trapper, Plague, and Pig are the biggest ones I can see still being viable.
Plague and Pig may seem questionable, but it's because there ability helps to a degree. Plague effectively cuts every chase in half after a little bit. While Pig has some form of slow down. While its not the greatest having it at base does help.

i'm not arguing with you. I'm just adding onto what you said you're right i'm just saying with controller you're not as precise.
Ah ya I was not exactly sure hense the reason I asked.
I play both PS4 and PC. It's just little things I have picked up.
@AceVisconti69 said:
I like using a controller. All it needs is some better aim acceleration without making sensitivity 100%. There is no advantage to using a mouse unless you're using Huntress, and I'm pretty sure you could get good with a controller and be just as good.
You can use a controller I generally enjoy controller more as I started on PS4, but at the end of the day any Killer not just Huntress will benefit more from the Mouse and Keyboard. There are things your able to do with a Mouse and Keyboard that a Controller with max sensitivity simply can't replicate. This is just because of Keyboard combined with the Mouse having it's own unique sensitivity allowing highly unique movements. With the DPI turned up enough your able to do multiple mind games whereas a controller would only be able to pull off one of them.

Because bloodpoints, believe it or not the sacrifice scoring event gives the killer a boatload of points they need to keep getting add ons.
Add ons that are concidered a challange to not play with any.
In the same way playing with no mither is seen as a challange for survivors.
But this issue can't be solved. As if you could max out she sacrifice category without killing two survivors it's theotoetically possible to max out all your blood point categories, and at that point survivors would start to comparing that killers are too strong because those optimal killers up at the higher ranks who want to get as many BP as possible do this. Then derank. And then will get paired against lower skilled players
Personally aiming for the 50/50 balance is kinda, dull. From what I understand in the perfect scenario if this balance is achieved no matter how good a killer plays 2 survivors will always escape no matter what. Then again this assumed every player plays optimally. And that assumption counteracts the ideaologu because a killer will never get more than a 1k against a team this 50/50 balance envies. Because if 3/5ths of their objective is able to be completed before a killer can achieve 1/12 of their own. That's a problem. Because then the kill ratio becomes 25/75, which won't solve the problem of balance.
Hope you as the reader is having a good day
It should be balanced around 2.5 to 3.2. Meaning a 3k is technically an average. This gives more design space for killers while allowing killers to have fun, but not be fully overpowered. This also means if a killer did well a 4k is reasonable. While if a killer did bad chances are it's a 1k or less.
Limitations of a 50/50 hurt the game though. No one wants to play killer do incredibly well and realize that the best they can do is a 3k and rarely if ever get a 4k. It so means if a killer does badly then it's a guaranteed 0k.

100% with survivor is easier

Honestly controller would be better for movement. Except for certain killers like the nurse
Survivor is 100% better on controller.
Killer is 100% better on Mouse and Keyboard.
Both can be played on the other, but its inferior to the better one not by a slight margin either.

Yeah, I agree. I also know that some people say they lost because Ruin was gone early which is like... Meh. When they get Gens done fast, the Killer is not putting enough pressure (which is not possible sometimes, but thats a map problem and has nothing to do with Ruin.)
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/986982#Comment_986982
I guess thats more of an Plague Issue. I faced a Plague yesterday with Ruin, Thana, PGTW and Corrupt and I was about to vomit (no pun intended), because 4 Slowdown Perks is just lame and boring.
Oddly Ruin is one of those perks you don't actually need, but at the same time you get punished for not having it a lot. So it's like a hypothetical perk if someone's says they need it you can argue for or against it and no ones technically wrong.
Problem is without it being in the game the main reason it was used which was for bad map matchups. A lot of players will struggle because of those maps. Removing the perk without solving the issue for what it was used for is honestly a bad idea.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
You would have had the same result with Ruin, if they are really good Survivors. The best Survivors dont really care for Ruin anyway, sometimes I feel they even let it lit to have some form of challenge.

It's not overly hard. Just whenever someone states how and why instead of being happy they got tips people usually want like 20 games in a row of you 4king and then get mad or insulting when you don't want to because thats a reasonable request. Seriously though without ruin this game will either have killers running incredibly brutal builds and unfun tactics or die off quickly. People say that the game was played with ruin, but then also the game has developed significantly since then too.

I'm the same, but I'm just trying to find a middle ground. I'd rather players didn't leave, and while ruin is something I've never used as a killer unless requested or levelling someone new, it wouldn't hurt to make ruin a tad more powerful, and gens not work so well with tool boxes.
Really unless they do something about the inconsistency in time management and map sizes. Then killer will always be weaker. While they want to balance around a 2k that's a gold idea, but very limiting in theory. What they need is to balance killers around a 2.7-3.5 kill ratio. They need to make it so while the killer can possibly obtain a 4k they need to work for it while the regular average would mostly be 2k and 3k. It also makes it so limiting killers wont be nearly as bad.
Map sizes, inf loops are another huge issue as well. Anything a killer has to directly deal with to stop a survivor from doing Objectives like the damaging of gens should not take a bit for the killer, but mere taps from a survivor to counter. That's a huge loss in time for a killer lver the course of a game.

I said days not hours, honestly if you have been playing 50 days total since release on xbox that's 1.2k hours. At that point I take back what I said apparently your just not very good at great skill checks with Ruin. Even then it only released in 2017 meaning you average about 1.7 hrs a day. That's more then enough time to practice skill checks with ruin, but it does make sense with your rank.
If you only want to read what you read and pretend people are ignorant. People can easily do math as well. Honestly it's close to probably 2 hrs a day since the game released in june 2017.
Though let's be honest DBD on console is lonny simulator. So reality if you probably played closer to 1/3 the actual amount given.

I'm sorry monto but no more slowing down the game "just a lil bit" I'm sorry but even with over 50 days played it's still hard to hit great skill checks with ruin, and considering all the nerds "op" survivor stuff has been getting this is a huge relief so at least we know the devs are trying to make the game feel less annoying for both sides.
You'll most likely see a drop in killer variety and longer que times as a survivor due to this straight up nerf. Most killers ran it due to the issues of large maps and quick gen times making it so they couldn't adequately apply pressure. Most likely the Dev's at a later date will say something else along the lines of "we have been adjusting maps so we no longer thought ruin was necessary" despite not nerfing the main issues.
You talk about nerfs on survivor side yet dont realize a lot of those nerfs were justified heavily due to how those games went. If you have really only been playing for 50 days then you didn't play when those perks were nerfed to realizing how polarizing those perks could be used by a bad player let alone a good one.
Also just saying that according to what they said new players got destroyed by it. They balance around the rank 20 games not the middle to top tiers which start to develop issues, but as a person who says they have been pure rank you should already know this as well.

That's the logic I have been given this rework. Killers that run 4 stalls perks to make a slow game happen. I figured this was bound to happen eventually. I even thought ruin would logically take the fall as the other slow down perks have had recent changes.

i do truly hope so, but being a nerf made for low ranks and new players, I am really afraid will affect dynamics for veterans
I mean I recently started over on PC from taking a break on dedicated servers. Both sides rank 20. As a survivor I was plagued with ruin, campers, and tunnelers. On the killer side I was plagued with a bunch of derankers with full on meta builds.
So it's not like rank really matters anymore. I do agree tho that Ruin to a new person is a guaranteed loss. I'm hoping with the next dlc some issues will he addressed.
-
No problem have a good day man and hope you find a new game. I dont think that the lack of Ruin will be the killing blow to the game yet it is on that track now, but I have thought for awhile this was the path Ruin would end up on because people were running 4 slow down perks and of the 4 Ruin had not been adjusted except for consistancy in a long time.

I play pig in red ranks alot of what I notice is when a survivor is attempting to remove a trap a survivor will usually try to curb your attention away from the box. This is a substantial buff as it makes the Survivor panic and more prone to make mistakes.
It punishes SWF too to the extreme that friends will usually leave a gen or too just to speed up the search. It's either that or decrease the amount of time a survivor has with each Generator finished.
I'm not quite sure why you think rank matters when everyone knows it had not mattered for a long time especially those who do play at red ranks, but ok I have played her from rank 20 to rank 1 with her 3 unique teachables on a separate account to see if I could do it. Guess what I could.
So now that we got our bragging about how good we are out of the way. May I ask is your intention to make the RBT a better delay tactic or a Kill tactic? Because even tho I think you are trying to say something important or your experiences with her. Your not being exactly clear with it in your last post man. Removing the survivors ability to see Jigsaw boxes would lead to more survivors trying to help the trap survivor locate said boxes. It would also increase the lethality of her traps by actually making people search the map instead of just ping ponging to the nearest box they can see highlighted.
It depends if its RSN2 it's a nerf. Or its just they gotta run across them it's a completely OP buff.
You can play a lot of all, but I main Pig that is where I'm arguing from.

Killer main's input: if y'all can't live without Ruin, then you probably need to reconsider how good you are at killer.
Initially I thought this was a horrible idea, but after some thoughts I'm starting to think of unique builds. This also comes from the fact I stopped using Ruin awhile back. On the other hand I know a lot of killers needed this to enjoy the game from the killer side.
So while I think of cool new builds I feel bad for less experienced killers.

Our time has arrived while many will experiment with this perk we have mastered it and bent it to our wills.

New Ruin is useless

Killers have already been using ruin BECAUSE of how BADLY this game is balanced around gen speeds and "map pressure". killers NEEDED the time that ruin bought. and with this current version of ruin? it is garbage. now more than likely by the time you hook 1 person, GARUNTEE, whether they are able to hit greats or not. 1 gen will pop when you hook a survivor with a 2nd gen close to popping if not already popped. AND YOU ONLY HAVE GOTTEN 1 HOOK. Q times for survivors in red ranks was already bad. but now? I firmly believe that the amount of red rank killers that will actually keep playing after this change will only be in the double didgets.
if someone asked me "what is THE WORST thing BHVR could do to this game balance wise?" my answer would be to nerf ruin. and BOY did they not just NERF IT, THEY LEGIONED IT
Nah Legion had better treatment Sir this was Ruined xD jokes aside. This was a critical element for a lot of players to be able to play and enjoy killer. A good friend of mine just said "screw this I hope they have been working on Killer Bot AI"

Well, gen tapping will be useless with Ruin now
I didnt mean gen tapping I meant the gen tap mid chase where a survivor can tap a damaged gen to stop it from regression with no penalty which also negates the fact the killer spent some actual time damaging it.
