Well to me its fine that bhvr tries new perk archetipes, boons, scourge hooks, now teamwork.
Those are more ways to play the game, that is fine.
Only problem its balancing perks but thats other discussion. (
).Subliminal nerf DH >:(well, no, since it doesnt add an actual mechanic
you dont do anything *new* : scourge hooks added a new type of hooks that add strategy, boons and hexes make different uses of totems
teamwork makes you heal someone like you did before, and you both get a small boost, there are a ton of perks out there that did the same thing before (open handed, vigil, leader, all these perks give boosts for free, blood pact makes you heal for it, but any way, it's nothing new)

I’m nearing 4 years on this game and it had kinda run its course. This new UI will cause me to quit. I mainly play killer and am not going to fight the spaz placement of all the important info. It’s so bad and so many players pointed out how many issues it had and the devs are still going with it.
so bad
i play both and it's still fun, but i dont want to have a headache just searching for info on my screen

I think the criticism is blown a bit out of proportion but still to a degree true. First, we should give the new hud a chance (i am rank1 survivor and killer with 1000 hrs, so i am kind of invested in this game too).
I personally have no problem with the information split up. to a degree: that interactions that give bp are now at the top right is irrelevant, the new hookcounter is nice, but not a point you will look often. Perks stay at the same place, but survivors and gens completed are now split up. I think these should be in close proximity on the screen, i look at them both as survivor and killer a lot, because they show the pressure either side currently faces and how the game goes.
So my suggestion would be to move the gens completed from top middle closer to the top left. Other than that i would argue that it is fine.
so your suggestion to stop people complaining about the HUD being all over the place... is put even more stuff on a side of the screen that's already filled with info ?
that sounds bad
-
Don't let this thread die everyone when the PTB comes out tomorrow and make sure to tell the devs and mods that, no, it's not better when you play it, convince them to not make it go live, at least do it for colorblind people who wont be able to play it anymore if it goes live.

You are definitely right about the resistant to change - also, we've had this HUD for over 4 years, so of course we've got used to it and people usually have a knee jerk, emotional reaction to change. I do think there are some very valid points made and I hope that when the PTB goes live, that people will give the new HUD a chance and test it properly and see where/if there are any major issues.
You make a good point about other overlays working with it.
that's a UI... not game mechanics
I have eyes, I can see, and I can tell from footage that this is not optimized, nor useful, neither even good looking. Playing will just be even worse

Can you be more specific in your comments please. It's really hard to take feedback on board when it's just "this is awful" without any explanation of why it doesn't work.
you wanna know what's wrong ? good, im happy to help :
- First of all, the placement is annoying, not only because nobody was angry at what the HUD looked like but because also it's taking too much space it's literally EVERYWHERE instead of 2 corners of the screen, it was perfect this way, i didnt have to look everywhere to search for a specific information
- Second, i like the hook counters, but it could have easily been implanted to the old look. Keep the hook counters tho, it's useful
- Third, the thing that is the most annoying is why replacing perfectly fine and understandable icons like "HEALTHY" and "INJURED" by "survivor's ugly low res portrait" and "survivor's ugly low res portrait but it's flashing red" IT'S NOT PRACTICAL AT ALL. IT DOESNT HAVE ANY IMPACT, YOU CANT LOOK AT IT AND KNOW INSTINCTIVELY "that guy is injured / healthy'
- Fourth and final thing, again with the red flashing did you think of colorblind people again ???? Devs already put a terrible aura update that was impossible to play for colorblind people and now, with the portraits just flashing red instead of being understandable icons representating health states, they wont be able to play the game anymore ! because they cant get information because of the UI !
Here. Your list
-
not the same
for me i was literally stuck mid-air, i didnt touch anything between screen one and two, i was just permanently pouncing in the ground, couldnt do anything but go to options menu
-
seriously, ive always been on the side of the devs and defending them but there's clearly a difference between failing and having unexpected bugs, and just rushing out the content to just make sure they dont go past the deadline.
That, and the halloween event, and the release all the time of new cosmetics and archives, which are just money-grabs may i remind everyone, and we get a lot of frustration from even the very dedicated fanbase, seriously, this is some real BS here. BHVR, WAKE. UP.

To show that the developers care they should add a Pride charm, as creating the character might still take some time. It is a small but relevant gesture and should be relatively simple to do.
yeah, that would be nice indeed
but i doubt they would add it outside of pride month, it would be bad to not put it during the time that's the most profitable for them :)

Honestly, I wouldn’t bother with them. They showed how ignorant they are in my thread that got closed yesterday. They wouldn’t complain about a characters backstory including that they’re in a heterosexual relationship, because in their eyes, that’s ‘normal’.
But as soon as it’s explicitly mentioned that somebody identifies as part of the LGBT community it’s ‘woke’ and it’s being ‘forced’ on people. It’s absolutely ridiculous. If sexuality doesn’t matter to these people because it’s only ‘horror’ and ‘video games’, then why does it matter to them if somebody wants an LGBT character? Doesn’t add up, does it? Just say you’re a bigot and leave. 🙃
wow, the first deathslinger profile pic i saw with a good take, gg
-
just to tell, im going to not reply anymore, so yeah, continue talking if you want to that was just a rant
i hope y'all are right and the devs will not pull that "what promise ?" card and they are actively working on creating a good queer lore for a character and not just forgot two days after saying it was so important
to those who "dont care about sexuality" then where were you to complain about Felix having a wife, David having a girlfriend, Nurse and Wraith ship, etc I just think it shows stuff.
Anyway, i hope i dont die of old age before it happens (Object of Obsession rework definitely will not happen before i die tho)

That's fair. Others have already pointed out to me that there were more than I thought, I'm just the big dumb and forgot about them. I'll edit my post in a bit to make that clear.
That's another fair point. The Dev's do take VERY long to deliver on promises, but we don't know how long these things to make. Blight's character was revealed way back in 2018.
it's okay i can definitely see you didnt come with bad faith unlike some
-
@NomiNomad said:
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but (aside from the licenced characters) isn't their only one confirmed hetero pairing, the Nurse and Wraith? Even then, I don't even think it was that serious - it was just to get a Phantom of The Opera reference in.
Representation is important, but... I'm not sure this is the right game for it. This isn't a game about lovely relationships, it's a game about murder and torture. Shipping is fun, but at the end of the day this isn't a fun, romantic setting. I think it's just hard to work sexuality into a game like this without facing issues.
im about just to correct you but i think Nurse and Wraith are just a ship however, the first let's say "openly heterosexual" character that got introduced was Felix
which doesnt make a lot of sense neither but yeah let's confirm sexualities by making Felix straight i guess
And yes, I agree too, at some degree that DbD is not the best choice for that, but the point is basically pointing out how some promises take reaaaally long time to get fulfilled (and im not talking only about the rep here but in general)
-
@BumpEmOff99 said:
Why do they need to add someone based on sexuality, seems like a pretty pointless thing to add, personality isn't based off sexual preference. I don't demand a straight character. Games aren't meant to be woke. Especially not horrors

@Mooks said:
I would rather see them take there time and include it the right way than just slapping something LGBTQ+ into a probably already finished story where it does not have a place. They didn’t promise to deliver a queer person as soon as possible. They pretty much just stated they won’t exclude them anymore like they did previously.
I hope so too, but the way they wrote Felix or Elodie's backstories make me think the contrary (not saying their backstories are bad)

There's a lot of things I'd argue aren't amazing about BHVR's support system but at least they do their jobs properly in the scenarios I've had to talk to them
as long as they do their jobs im okay with it, i just find it stupid to silently put it in a solved section when it's being looked up and i hope you're right

You are addicted. You need to put it down. As a tobacco and sugar addict i know thats way easier said than done but you should try.
it's not addiction tho. it's obsession, it's different. In normal times, having obsessions is pure fun, like, if i hyperfocus on a series, it will be lots of fun and cool things for me, and i'll suddenly drop it one day maybe and that's all, in contrary to addictions which have more and more unhealthy effects with time and become harder and harder to let go.
To make it more clear, if I feel like I have to, I'll just drop the game forever (with regrets, sure) and just talk about it and never play it again, without having to go through long periods of time. It's not the fact that I spend a lot of time on it that is a problem to me, it's the fact that it's becoming unhealthy because of a new thing they put in the game that is attacking my obsessive side, and it's making me really think of not playing the game anymore

I work 10-12 hour days (from home right now) and have a young kid, so i can't play the game until after she is alseep. I get to play the game maybe 2-3 hours a night. And i still am currently level 65 in the rift even though it is about to be over. Add on the fact that i also play other games like valorant which has a similar battle pass, to which i am almost halfway through as well.
it is not hard to max out the rift. You literally only need to get a single level per day, which can easily be done with an hour or 2 of play a day when combined with doing a challenge or 2.
that's nice for you but in my case i would need to do 35 tiers in 19 days, adding that plus my personal problems makes it terrible to try grinding as i said- but i guess at least it makes it less "scary" for me for when i'll have a job again and all

@Seiko300 - I think we just disagree on what "counterable" means. IMO, NOED and DS have very clear, very easy to execute counters that make them balanced (to me). They are both high risk/high reward perks. And as a survivor main, I find it very easy to call when a killer has NOED.
As for DS - no, most killers do tunnel, especially now that there is no fear of DCing for this type of game play, making DS more essential than ever for survivors who don't want to be tunneled to death. In my experience, when I've addressed hardcore tunneling with killers, their opinion is that "there's a perk to counter that" or the catch-all "gitgud". Since there is no way to "gitgud" about being hard tunneled off a hook, the latter is the only option survivors have when a killer is particularly lazy and camps or proxies the hooks to hit injured players as they're freshly off-hooked. Until game play that prohibits players from getting an opportunity to play the game is addressed, this perk will remain a fixture for the survivor community.
I do agree that these perks don't require any particular skill, but neither does quite a bit of the game play that's rampant these days. At least DS requires a skillcheck and as we saw from the Hex: Ruin changes, those aren't everyone's friend. 😂
Having perks to counter playstyles is pretty bad in my opinion tho, both as a mechanic and in the community, because if we follow this logic
Killers tunnel to make it not fun : ok then put DS on
Slugging is meta now : ok let's put that Unbreakable
NOED every last 5 games : alright here's Small Game / Detective's Hunch
Maybe we'll get a camper : then I take Kindred
Here, here's your "counter" build. It's just stupid, nobody wants to play with the 4 same perks all the time it's so boring, just in case the guy in front of you is sweaty, especially that it doesnt make your teammates any more prepared or better.
Having to use perks to get out of situations where the killer is untouchable is quite the cheap fix. Just as having to use perks as a killer to counter the moments the survivors are untouchable is a cheap fix (thinking about all the clown mains out there)
-
@MegaWaffle said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/139512/is-noed-fair
NOED has a clear counter condition and offers ample time to execute upon it. Even if the team (or you as an individual) choose not to go for those counter measures the risk of NOEDs activation can then be nullified by finding a single totem and cleansing it.
While I do not find NOED a fun perk to go against as it can snowball a match without much skill, I have to accept that I (if I wasn't contributing to totem cleansing) or my team are the reason it got what value it did.
So is NOED fair? Yes it is.
So NOED is only fair when the team is coordinating ? what about the solo queue survivors that did they part but the rest of the team shrugged it off and got downed because of it ?
-
@Seiko300 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1175924#Comment_1175924
I would say no
While it is true you can "counter" both DS, and Noed in a certain sense it is not true counterplay, unlike having a hunch a killer is running Nurse's Calling so you begin to heal well out of Terror Radius, or BBQ & Chili incentivizing you to hide within the range of a hook survivor, inside a locker, or even positioning yourself behind a generator, or a survivor running Dead Hard so you make sure to time your swing so that it still catches them, or sprint burst so you know not to swing at all despite how close you get, there is no concrete counterplay for perks like DS and Noed.
Hex: Ruin
What I mean by this is in the case of Noed, there are absolutely no indicators that they are running it, you could go out of your way to try and cleanse every totem on the map however this can be extremely difficult and nigh unrealistic due to multiple factors. For one and most obviously it is impossible to coordinate this kind of information as a solo survivor, you will only ever know for sure how many totems you've cleansed. You may stumble across another survivor cleansing a totem and you can add it to your mental count, or even go around keeping count of every destroyed pile of bones you find, but this is hardly reliable and more importantly: efficient. At this point you begin to waste time, which could prevent you from even completing the last gen in the first place.
This also leads to a second factor which is time efficiency, if you spend too much time going around cleansing every totem, keeping track of every pile of bones, yadda yadda yadda, if the trial is a close race between the killer and survivor, you choosing to try and find totems more often than not becomes more of a hindrance than using that time to repair a generator. This is why we would see survivors just grind and slog through pre-nerf Ruin, because looking for the actual totem or trying to get to it (especially if a killer is being protective of it) would only end up doing more harm than good because it would waste time. Now you're telling me to go around cleansing dull totems that have no use (unless you're on the BP grind) wasting time, putting the completion of generators and thus your own teammates and yourself at risk especially in matches where the killer is putting a great amount of pressure, every single match on the off chance the killer is running Noed?
Third and lastly, why does it waste so much time in the first place? Because some totems are just impossible to find to begin with, depending on the map you can be absolutely screwed as soon as you spawn in because you never found the 1 dull totem in an obscure corner of the backwater swamp. It is simply not viable to go out and seek out every totem on every map because they can be notoriously difficult to find, though veterans will be aware of the more notoriously well hidden RNG spots a totem can spawn such as next to a fire barrel, masking the audio, or inside one of the tall hedges on the Badham preschool maps, it can still feel like you've combed an entire location and come up with zilch.
Hex: Ruin Concluding
So sure, if all three of these conditions have been met in the best case scenario: You're on a "good" map that doesn't have too many really bad spots to find a totem, even if you're on a traditionally "good" map there aren't any totems hiding in cheeky spots like inside tall hedges, or next to a fire barrel, you're either an SWF or somehow coordinate with your entire team how many totems you've cleansed as a solo or just keep track on your own individually (somehow), and the killer isn't good enough that he's not capitalizing on all this time you've spent not doing generators to apply a significant amount of pressure and deal a lot of damage to the survivors in said trial. Then yeah, sure, it's "counterable". But when I put it that way all of a sudden it doesn't sound the same does it? Now it's no longer it's "counterable" it's "it is counterable in specific circumstances" which is just complete bull.
Decisive Strike
As for DS the issue isn't quite as spiderwebbed and it's a lot more simple, the popular "counter" method is just "Don't tunnel? Lol". The killer obviously will try not to tunnel however, survivors know this and will actively play aggressive in such a way that forces a killer to tunnel or completely concede a certain amount of pressure. A killer can deliberately go out of their way to chase someone else off the unhook, and then out of nowhere the same survivor comes running in to take a protection hit. The killer was clearly chasing someone else, not tunneling, and yet still managed to down the same survivor either purely by circumstance or because that survivor forced him to. At this point the killer is left wondering "has it been 60 seconds yet? Do I pick her up now? .... Now? How about now..?" forced into a guessing game that can either get you an easy hook, or lose you an entire match.
Now, one might read this and think "one hypothetical scenario does not an overpowered perk make" but this was not my point, my point was told at the very beginning "actively play aggressive in such a way that forces a killer to tunnel or completely concede a certain amount of pressure". It is extremely easy for a survivor to force the killer into a situation where they quite literally don't have any other option. It allows them to be bold, make bad mistakes, and still completely get away with it because they get the magnetic repulsing forcefield that is DS, they can be finishing repairs on a generator in your face and you are not allowed to do anything about it because "DS".
(Decisive Strike) Concluding
These perks are not fun, they aren't skillful, they are hardly ever high risk, and they are not exciting, if anything they are only to those who run them and enjoy getting second chance ez wins. You'll never see my eyes widen, be genuinely surprised, and maybe even think "I did not see that coming" when hit by a DS, instead you'll hear me sigh and think about the previous five matches that I've seen this perk be abused to it's fullest extent.
Just here to add to the DS counter section, but sometimes, the unhooker is stealthing and you will never find where, and there is this injured Bill crying right behind you thinking you didnt hear him cough, and you just have to down him because there's no way you will find the unhooker and it would be a huge loss of time, so you just down that poor Bill and pray for not eating a DS because you know you tunneled them even if you were forced to.

I feel like this is the same situation with Hex: Ruin, it may be super powerful a real game changer that turns the tides of games, and NOBODY (killers) wants to see it changed. At the same time though, it is absolutely unfun and cheap for survivors, and perks that are unfun or cheap for either side are typically nerfed or rework, even massively wide spread used perks like Hex: Ruin, a perk which almost everyone ran and the devs knew they would see resistance for changing. Hex: Ruin was used way more often than Noed was or even is now (Noed usage has gone up since Ruin rework)
So what would stop the devs from nerfing or reworking Noed? Not much imo, since it's one of the main controversial / problem perks that are left in the wake of the Ruin rework. Now when people read this they might think "Bruh, so you're telling me all the problem perks are killer perks!? #########??" and that is not what I'm saying at all. The change to Ruin is the turn of a new decade (literally) where in all likelihood all problem perks will see some changes. This means inevtiably, Noed, but at the same time it also means DS which will probably see a second change on top of the original because it is also a controversial / problem perk.
I think it's an interesting arguement but i see some of the devs in the streams or forums being happy with how NOED is so, will it really be considered a problem perk ? I think the same can be said about Object of Obsession for example

It's the first time I'm actually ahead and I only have 3 levels to go before I finish it completely and there are 9 days left I believe.
I am truly NOT a fan of the post-tome grind however. Also agreeing very hard that there's too much non-tome grinding to do, hopefully i have free time, but for those who can only play an hour a day max it's just impossible to get it done

I haven’t been hooked all game, and the killer starts chasing me near an Exit Gate as the last gen pops. I actually run him around almost the whole map (down the long line of stacked cars, through the gas station, around the other line of stacked cars, around the bus) and finally get downed because of bloodlust and no pallets left.
I see the other 3 (fully healthy) survivors waiting at one of the Exit Gates and they decide to open it. I think: “Okay, NOED isn’t in play and there’s 3 people that can come get me.” But what happens? All THREE just bumble around in the exit gate until I go into struggle and finally die. No attempt to even come close to the hook.
Killers complain about SWF being too strong. I say SWF is the only way to play Survivor without going insane from witnessing the stupidity of other solo queue players.
I'm doing fine all by myself as a solo queue, even if i get bad teammates
Sure SWF is sweet, but it doesnt have to be the only way you play survivor.
Plus I would say those 3 could have been themselves on comm and decided to leave you behind just to troll you, so what ? Is it the fault of SWF now ?

Hmm Then we should maybe assign a totem to each gens ? All gens are blocked by entity , if you do a totem it'll break free one of the 7 gens .
I think you're taking the problem in the wrong direction
it shouldnt be about a mechanic that is already inside the game

nope, would make Hex perks useless, and corrupt, thrilling tremors, all that

no, you basically giving advantage to bad plays, like missing hatchets, and iri head would become even stronger.
huntress can be godlike on some maps, just like trash on some others, her speed is her weak point, smart survivor would just keep running in circle around a big rock in the swamp. it's stupid, but it's this game.
but, someday the might set every killer speed to 115%, since they're slowly removing every unique characteristic from every killer.
I agree with all you said
but it seems the dev backed down with the making all killers the same to help new players thing, since Deathslinger is quite different to the usual 115% 32 meters terror radius we got since Spirit.

I'm okay with making Deathslinger a 115% speed killer by default because he has very limited snowballing, and he's just not strong enough for it.
However making Huntress 115% when out of hatchets would be the worst idea, her whole gameplay is around the hatchets, and by doing that you just encourage bad players to not learn her and just use her as a bad M1 killer
