Now explain me, how do you calculate skill? How do you put skill into a single number? What is the equation? I know MMR goes up when you win and down when you lose, but what is considered a "win" and "lose" for survivors by this system? You are so sure of it you must know, so care to tell?

Group survivors together by play time and how often they hit coloured ranks. If there's a survivor with like 10 hours play time then match them with the like. If there's a red rank killer with like a 1000 hours then match with survivors with that experience. Also emblems, if there are survivors who get lots of points for alterisim and objectives then it shows they are productive and know the game well and should be matched with the like.

Realized that most people want MMR? Yes, they did.

Real talk: How much different do you think MMR is going to be from the current system? It's an expansion of the current system, if anything. It takes more metrics into account, but instead of working off a pip/depip system that we already knows is heavily flawed and can be exploited, it instead gives you a number that's more or less equivalent to what can be called "skill", then matches you with people of similar "skill".

Yes I understand what they are trying to achieve but they aren't achieving it. That's my point.

I think after this test hopefully they’ll just realize it’s gonna hurt the game and not have it go live.

They've tried it so many times you'd think they would realise by now.

  • I hate when you play solo survivor and someone brings a key because majority of the time you're trying to work on gens while they're looking for hatch. I've had it happen so many times where there's one gen left and I'm trying to do it and then boom, hatch is open somewhere.

I actually have a theory about the sweaty killer thing, after my matches today.

In normal times, I match with such sweaty survivors that I have to play as hard as I can just to get a few hooks before I lose. Now that SBMM is turned on, I think what's happening with some of my games is that I'm matching with people who are potatoes like me, but because I'm used to having to play at maximum effort, I am now the sweatiest person in the match.

I think MMR is designed to sort that out after you play a few matches, so we'll see if it goes away over the rest of the week.

The thing is I don't mind going against a good killer I just want my team to work and be productive. I hate when you loop for a bit and nothings done.

In my experience with plenty of competitive, mmr will never save you from garbage teammates. They usually "balance" matches by putting a carry with deadweight. So it becomes a game of whose carry is better, or which deadweight throws less. Rofl.

Tell me about it, I'm sick of loading into a match with teammates who don't do anything and DC.

"I'll take what is normal matchmaking for 500" Were sorry but this is said everyday with the normal matchmaking too.

Just proves my point even more, I know mm has its cons but its even worse lately.

  • You brought a perk so...

Id rather a killer bring lightborn than NOED or Devour Hope. Honestly just ignore them. If I saw 4 flash lights I'd bring it too and think "aight, let's go"

  • When I run into nemisis zombies, they'll be around corners totally silent and get me 😩

  • I HATE survivors who do this. I mostly play solo survivor and I always try and do gens and get saves when required but I try mostly to be on gens because I can't communicate with my team. But what makes it worse is when the killer rewards the little ######### with hatch. As if the killer knew what everyone was doing every second of the game πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„

  • My survivor main is Nea because I like her green bobbed hair and red skirt.

My killer main is Oni but he go bam bam πŸ˜‚πŸ‘Ή

  • @xEa said:

This is just a random rant but it has to be at this point.. it has to get out.. im sorry.

Game number 6 in a row now i died sole because of teammates who apparently have just installed the game and bought their rank at a boosting service or whatever... It is totally unbelieveable, i feel like i am playing with payed actors.

Every game the ######### same. I do 3-4 gens or loop the killer for minutes (sometimes EVEN BOTH!) while the randoms do not a single generator or anything else productive. When a survivor gets hooked, nothing happens, until i take heart and sacrifice myself for poor guy. Once i am hooked, it is game over. Just game over. I wont get unhooked unless a miracle happens, and there wont be any people who do gens, they just sit in the grass and wait for better times. The 4% try is acutally the best option for me in my recent games, not kidding.

The game sense in my random lobbys is so low it is not even funny anymore.. and we are talking here about Rank 1 and thousends of hours of playtime on my part (which should guarantee teammates, who are also on a high level)

I know, there is not a lot to do at this point until the MMR might actually work (if it ever will) but it is sooo aweful to play Solo Survivor recently.

I mostly play solo survivor and let me tell you it's took years off my life πŸ˜‚. But seriously it can be so frustrating to run the killer and see that no one's doing a thing. I'm in red/purple ranks and I expect my team to have a good understanding of the game and how it works (do gens to escape). Sometimes I get put with absolute bots and I just sit there like"why?... "

  • I use it every match, if killers want to be greedy and chase after me straight off the hook they can have DS. 😊😊😊

Mine personally would be the Nurse, rarely see Nurses, but when I do I love to mess around with them and pull every trick in the book against them. I just find it so much more interesting playing like an entirely changed-up game than with other killers. So Nurse will forever be my favorite. :)

I don't mind facing Billy's, demos, Huntress's, Onis, Micheal (but no tombstone) Bubbas (if they don't basement camp), Pyrimid Heads.

  • @Junylar said:

    Except Badham, probably.

Anyone else noticed it? Just look at it:

    • Haddonfield - no comments.
    • Gideon - indoors trash, was even worse before the rework.
    • Hawkins - indoors trash, joke pallets and hard to find gens.
    • Midwich - hallways of doom and gens hidden behind 7 seals.
    • RCPD - no comments.

That is why I'm afraid of the next licensed chapter, which will bring one more abomination of level design to the map rotation.

I don't mind Badham and Haddon field. But I despise Midwich and don't like RCPD.

Wraith can be quite overwhelming especially with all seeing blood BUT if you have a strong team doing gens and running for a decent amount of time you should be fine.

A 1 second stun is still a 1 second stun. Why would anyone use pallets if they could stun you and waste even a little bit of time.

Tbf if you go against fake pallet Freddy just wake up as much as possible.

  • @Crowman said:

What would be the point of putting fake pallets down if survivors could still stun you with them?

I think he means they still break so if you got the stun it would be like spirit fury but without taking 2 pallets stuns.

  • @Junylar said:

I encounter this more and more lately. All these hits through a pallet, hits through window and pallet vaults, hits from a great distance, misdirected hits which should have missed but still hit even though they were directed to the opposite side. I guess more and more killers start finding out that having a high ping as the Killer in this game is beneficial due to how the netcode and hit validation works right now, and they deliberately increase their latency. I have to pre-drop pallets now and just shift+w instead of looping, because of how inconsistent this all gets. I don't even remember the last time I stunned the Killer with a pallet and WAS NOT HIT right after that!

Is there any way to counter this, other than DCing on the first BS hit? Are BHVR even going to do something about it? When every killer starts using ways to get their pings to 1000+, playing a survivor will become impossible.

I think if your ping is higher then a certain amount you shouldn't be able to play.

I just want to know if this upcoming patch is going to fix the horrible experience on console because it's boggles the mind how Everytime as killer when the power is used it lags everyone an makes it a buggy frustrating mess of a game. Can't get challenges done because of this and it's tilting since it's our of my control even as survivor getting hit with something then laging back or dead hard not working.

Playing survivor is bad and playing killer is aweful. When I chase a survivor all they do is move a little left and my game lags so bad I lose them. And NO I'm not a rank 20 killer I'm saying lag is having an impact.

From your comments, it just seems like you know that her power is to blink through most objects. That's not the same as understanding it.

Shes a 110 speed killer who requires blinking the close space on a survivor. Because she blinks she can blink through walls and through pallets. Her power requires a small charge where she holds to determine the distance of her blink. THERE YOU GO.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2361360#Comment_2361360

What can you do against a killer that ignores pallets and windows.

She doesn't, she just requires more timing and planning before you use those things. I can successfully (and purposefully) stun Nurses with pallets because I know how she plays.

There's only so many time you can juke and lose line of sight.

Looping is also not indefinite. What's your point?

If you're going against a rank 1 nurse there's not too much to be done other than hope she messes up a blink and pray she didn't see you hide.

Wrong. This is why people need to play as Nurse, so they can understand how she works and then craft proper strategies against her.

I understand what youre saying that killers need different thinking when in a chase but the other killers do have to deal with pallets and windows. Like i play different when going against Huntress then i would a Hag or Trapper. But with those killers you can use pallets and windows effectively.

You can still use them with the Nurse, they just require timing and planning. However, to get the timing right, you first need to play as her.

When i play against Nurse i try my best to lose line of sight and run in jungle gyms but i dont really use pallets just the walls to hopefully fool her and run to the next sight blocker but if its a highly skilled Nurse then thats not really effective as she will use her first blink get sights on you and her second the get the hit.

Play as her. Learn her. Then figure out better counters for her.

I understand her power as ive stated above.

  • Honestly DBD can be a horrible game to learn. Ive played since 2016 and when i first started i was TRASH however after watching youtube videos and playing more i improved. Im not a god survivor but i would say im average. I find that the tutorial just doesnt tell you enough. The best thing for new players to do is watch videos made by more experienced players so they can learn things like looping, making the right decisions and killer perks and how they effect the game.

Also the grind for getting characters and perks is ridiculous. If something happened to my account and i lost all my progress on DBD i just woudnt touch the game again.

  • Being a good survivor is about using your time wisely. When i start in a match i try and find a gen to work on but i think about later on and try to minimise the risk of a three gen. When someone is hooked if i am across the map on a gen i try and stay on the gen and hope that my two other team members are going to rescue, if i am close to the hooked survivor i will wait a couple seconds for the killer to leave the area and then save and heal them if the killer isn't coming back. If a survivor is hooked and the killer is chasing me i will try and take them away from the area the hooked survivor is in so there is a better chance of a safe hook. When i am looping a killer i try my best to get the most use out of a pallet befotr dropping it. Finally i do not tbag or annoy the killer.

Being a bad survivor is just wasting time and being scared to do anything.

  • I have no issue with lightborn. If you want to use a perk slot on that then fine by me, then again i never use flashlights.

  • @Orion said:

That's because a lot of survivors think like you.

"There's nothing I can do against the Nurse, so why would I bother?"

Fact is, there is a lot you can do, but it requires changing the way you play. The best advice I can give you is to play as the Nurse, see what it's like, and then try to develop strategies against her that work for you.

What can you do against a killer that ignores pallets and windows. There's only so many time you can juke and lose line of sight. If you're going against a rank 1 nurse there's not too much to be done other than hope she messes up a blink and pray she didn't see you hide. If people went against a skilled nurse everyday she would be complained about more than spirit its because a high skilled nurse is rare that people just ignore when this point is brought up.

I understand what youre saying that killers need different thinking when in a chase but the other killers do have to deal with pallets and windows. Like i play different when going against Huntress then i would a Hag or Trapper. But with those killers you can use pallets and windows effectively. • @Zokenay said:

The more i feel i shouldn't even bother... out of all killers, she is ALWAYS the one that makes the match fully one-sided.

Like, over half of my matches against her end up with like 3 or 4 hooks before 1 gen is even done, and end up in maybe 2 gens at best before everyone dies.

Im just seriously tired of her...

Im at the point that i would just suicide on hook or afk a match against her, its just not fun to be unhook someone and have someone go down a second after.

People like the use the argument that Nurse is balanced because she has a high skill ceiling but i disagree. Just because a killer takes time to learn doesn't make them balanced. Also you don't really tend to face a lot of rank 1 nurses often so people just accept that quick match and move on. But its ridiculous that there is a killer that just ignores pallets and windows your only hope is that she messes up and you can buy your team time to do gens. I personally don't have the answer in how to change nurse but if rank 1 nurses were more common people would actually realise how broken and dumb that killer is but yano "skill level" apparently.

  • @GannTM said:

Seriously, just play the game and quit ruining the fun of the other players involved. I'm really missing the DC penalty because without it, there's DCs left and right no matter which side I play. I just want to play the game and enjoy it but dealing with these constant rage quitters because things aren't going their way is really getting annoying.

Devs, I understand that people were unintentionally DCing due to the crashes and I know that y'all are working on getting that fixed before bringing the penalty back, but please fix those issues. Players abusing DCs is a serious problem that is more problematic than the things that make people DC.

I actually think that if someone DC's then the match should just end. Its so unfair when you're at 5 gens and someone leaves. Also you might dislike me for this but if someone DC's at the the start of the match then i do too, the match is a lost cause at the point and theres no point in playing.

  • @annaboodle said:

The perk is good imo, but i'm never able to use it well as every time i use it it glitches so i cannot see what direction I'm in smh. I play on ps4 so idk if its just a console/ps4 thing but yeh its very annoying.

Playing DBD on console is dog water right now. Im lagging so bad which is making me blow gens, spank survivors when im healing them making me look like a rank 20. When i play killer i lag and lose the survivor sometimes its so annoying.

  • Today i went against a Blight who camped at the start of the match who also brought a cake. Thats probably for why.

  • If my games are good then I play a couple hours but if the games are bad I'll take a break or leave it.

The fact that you say 'He has a crazier lunge than Freddy' shows you really don't know what you are talking about, no offense.

Freddy does not have a longer than normal lunge. It's that his character model is smaller, so it looks like he's lunging further to cover the same distance as bigger Killers.

Funny how no one complains about Hags lunge, Ghostfaces's lunge. Freddy has a stupid lunge and you wont change my mind.

So now gens don't take 10 years to do lol.

Like seriously, i just played on this map for the first time. It's like they saw the purposefully confusing map design of RCPD and thought

    "P E R F E C T."

It is awful to play on both sides. Not only because the design is confusing, but because it encompasses every bad thing people don't want in a map. It's indoors, the map is massive, it has multiple stories, very narrow hallways, and is confusing as all hell.

They could have given us a map in the Raccoon city streets. Which frankly were way less confusing than the goddamn police department. But no, BHVR decided to go with the worst possible map without thinking of how to make the map work with DBD.

I hate the indoor maps. I hate Midwich the most, pallets are useless and getting to loops is hard going in and out of rooms. I played the new map earlier and escaped but the small hallways messed me up.

I play mostly solo and i try and get gens done because i have no idea what my teammates are doing and i want out lol.

  • What his one "nerf" he now slows down placing snares? Lmao he still has the best movemt in game "teleporting to gens"

  • @supersonic853 said:

Why do when i hit all 4 of you and your all injured instead of healing you all hop on gens and just rush them? Its no fun and just shows how fast a survivor objective can go especially if they don't even unhook and just stay glued to gens. It makes the match easily end in 5 minutes or less. Bhvr please make thana basekit. (/s to the last sentence)

(For anyone that actually got down to here this is what i see as the equivalent to the killer tunneling post. Its so weird when you have matches like this where survivors will just glue themselves to a gen and refuse to even hook save)

Thing is when you stay injured on gens you're putting yourself at risk of being downed quicker, it actually helps the killer as you down people quicker and makes successful unhooks harder. Although me personally I try and get healed so I can last longer in chases.

Plus if he's beating you to a loop just run the other direction or trick him into moving. I do this all the time.

DON'T JUST STAND IN THE PALLET WHILE HE'S UNCLOAKING ALLOWING HIM A 50/50. Play around the other side of the loop (the longer side).

I like buffed Wraith he deserves it. But don't complain about how good a killer is now instead of just getting better yourself. Learn to adapt and "Git Gud".

With his lunge majority of pallets are a 50/50.

  • @glitchboi said:

I'm not bad at the game but I'm definitely not a god or anything (and wouldn't say I was) I believe I'm average, I can loop for a while with hopes my team are doing gens. I still stand by my statememt. We both have our different opinions which is fine.

I don't have any comments about Demo but Wraith is crazy now.

  • @miketheratguy said:

The thing is old Wraith was weaker but now it's just too much. He has a crazier lunge then Freddie now and has insane map pressure. So wheres his drawback? Because he takes a second to uncloak? But he has a massive lunge which dismisses that.

  • @Laluzi said:

You're only going to die to an RBT if:

    • The Pig is harassing you while the trap is active, chasing you away from boxes and hooking you in other locations
    • The Pig is running some combination of Jigsaw's Sketch, Tampered Timer, and Crate of Gears, and you get unlucky with boxes
    • You are very dumb with your time and heal yourself or work on a gen while it's active

Gens aren't going to save you in situation #1 or #3 - or they could, but the game will never get done that way. There are times you should 99 gens against the Pig, like situation #2 (it doesn't have to even be until the survivor gets the trap off, just let them search a box or two first), but other times you're just giving her free regression by getting scared of her traps.

If I go against pig and get a trap on my head my thinking is, first get unhooked, then try and get to boxes. I don't try and be greedy doing gens. However I stand by saying a gen should be 99 when someone has a trap on or atleast a couple seconds so they can get a box in or two before having the timer.

I had a match where it took ages to do the box and I had to bolt across the map to other boxes else of would of just died. I did in fact die because the pig followed my tracks I had 15% left on my timer. You know what happened to my team? They all died. Maybe if I didn't die early match to the timer the outcome would of been different and I would of done gens and saved. However I died which left them a teammate down.

  • @Pulsar said:

It's your job to get the trap off, not mine.

You will almost always have time to do so, and if the Pig follows you to make sure you die, the rest of your team escapes for free

That's a very shity attitude you take in a team based game. There's nothing wrong with keeping a gen 99% for a couple seconds. Less team mates, less chance of escape.

  • @Brokenbones said:

Most pigs run ruin and bbq/other tracking perks

You can't 99 gens against ruin

  • @Sup3rCatTree said:

There are some unnecessary things that deactivate Decisive Strike. Like healing yourself or others. If you don't want to get tunneled you have to wait 60 seconds to heal yourself. You have to be useless for 60 seconds and that's just rediculous

I understand what the devs were going for and I like the idea, but I don't like the way they executed it.

    Here is my idea:

When you do these actions the timer goes down by...

    • Cleanse a totem (5 seconds for a dull totem, 15 seconds for a hex totem)
    • Repair a generator (10 seconds) (Goes down by 5 EXTRA seconds for every 5 seconds on the gen)
    • Unhook a teammate (15 seconds)

(Healing yourself doesn't affect the timer but healing others reduces it by 5 seconds)

I think you should be able to heal yourself and DS stays active but that's it. Totems and gens should deactivate it.
