But do you have prestige 3 cosmetics? that might be the difference
It's not about the cosmetics, it's about the hours put into the game. Getting to that level devotion that @GoodBoyKaru did takes time, which translates into experience that will make you a more skilled player.
For reference, I'm devotion level 2 going on 3, and just average at the game- coincidence? I don't really think it is.

This is the example that I had saved; unlike some people I don't record every single game, and have Shadowplay enabled just for some moments. As it turns out there was an exploitable bug this game, hence why I Shadowplayed it and thought "why the hell not" and turned it into a gif, which I then made a meme post about called something like 'Welcome to soloq'.
It was obvious from the pickup start to anyone who knows actual spacing that it wouldn't have saved but trust me when I say I've had significantly worse happen.
Probably not as good as you think you
Ask like @Jyn_Mojito or @lowiq I call myself an awful survivor all the time lmao. I'm just, apparently, better than a lot of rank 10s because that's what the system thinks I should be paired with at rank 1.
*sigh* I can confirm @GoodBoyKaru calls himself awful at survivor pretty consistently. What I can ALSO confirm is that he's actually very skilled at it.
Look, it's like he's frickin' Inspector Gadget pulling out a flashlight save from no where, several times a match. And don't get me started on juking skills. By comparison, I can't use a flashlight an I'm constantly testing wall collision 🤷♀️
@chrisko A lot of that behavior turns up in solo q because you don't know any better. A lot of good tactics I learned, and how to be a more efficient teammate, I learned from my SWF group. A good group will share their tips and tricks and take the time to explain mapping.
Unfortunately I still am a garbage survivor, but at least they never make me feel bad about it. For that, they get HUGS ❤

Pretty much. When it doesn't happen they will just say "Well it wasn't this one, it's just the next" until it happens.
In all honesty if I had to pick a Capcom horror killer to add to this game it would not be something from Resident Evil, it would be like....Scissorman from the Clocktower series or something. I feel that would fit the game better; and not feel like a license risk to capcom.
Scissorman would be seriously amazing 👏

There were 2 other people left but there were 3 gens and it was quite a slow game tbh. And I was just having fun cuz since this update there is no point taking the game seriously no more.
Then he hooked me and proxy camped me from about 6 maybe 7 meters away.
A sad love-hate story 🥺 (true story)

Stealth has worked best for me. I find a lot of Nurse players will blink to a generator after I complete it, so I crouch away and try to find a bush or locker to hide in. And don't immediately leave once their TR is gone- they often double-back to try and catch you, which helps them waste time.
-
My issue is the HUD.
Played 2 matches this morning, instant survivor q, escaped both times...and then had to turn off DbD because of a raging headache.
This is so disappointing- with the Lunar event and Rift, this is when I want to play and the HUD makes it too painful 😔

Boy oh boy, I'm in a mood, so here. We. Go!
But I've already adjusted to it, and that means pretty much anyone can.Just because you adjusted to something that is bad doesn't mean that the bad thing is good. I can adjust to a belt being on too tightly and rubbing me wrong while doing my job, but that doesn't mean it's a good thing. In any case, it's not a matter of "adjusting to bad". It's a matter of something needing improvement and a passionate community voicing that issue. If anything, it's a good thing that the community is so together in bringing this up, because it shows they care and that the normal bias issues aren't present. Furthermore, UIs/HUDs are a big deal in games. The original UI was very well designed on account of it's simplicity. The new one being all over the place and scattered looks like you're trying to play a game while you also have the K/D score pulled up on the side. It's silly.
But to say that the game is "unplayable", to say that it's "ruined", to say that it's "dead" because of a UI change is just ridiculous.Yes. It is ridiculous. It's also a tactic that goes as far back as all of mankind to make an overblown response to something in order to express your feelings on it. Some of the greatest minds in history have used this tactic for their own ends. A bunch of people playing cat and mouse on the internet is by no means above such methods.
Y'all are making the pushback against the Nurse nerf, the DS nerf, the bloodlust removal, the Balanced nerf, and everything else seem like nothing compared to this. It's a global issue that resonates with the entire community. Almost NOBODY likes the new HUD. It's barely debated, it's just accepted as being bad. As stated earlier, this is actually a big deal, as the community is almost entirely behind the opinion. For the devs, this is actually a bit of a good thing, because they can see EVERYONE disliking the change and go "Oh, this isn't some bias thing with one side or another, everyone agrees we need to change it". That gives them a clear and obtainable goal without having to worry about upsetting people with a good fix. Other changes, such as balance changes, will always have fans and detractors based on how they are affected. The HUD is almost ALL detractors. It's a clear sign to the devs that they need to improve it.
If y'all were up in arms about actual important issues the game has instead of being petty and choosing sides all the time, I'm sure DBD would be much better right about now.People are "up in arms" about all kinds of issues, all the time. This one simply has global appeal. It's also not THAT hard to fix. I have personally worked on UIs/HUDs in the past, and am currently designing one for a small project. They aren't hard to manipulate so long as you know what you are working with. If BHVR can fix this and make a new layout that everyone agrees is an improvement, then some of the more divisive issues stand a better chance of being addressed, as the devs have shown they are more up to the task.
In closing, you're shaming people for wanting quality out of something they paid for. You're shaming them for agreeing that something is bad and needs improvement. You're telling people they should just accept things that are not up to standard. If everyone had YOUR mindset, the community would be dull and unable to bring up potential changes to improve the game, because they'd be too busy "adjusting to it". You're mindset and actions are the problem, not the people that rightfully pointed out an issue with global appeal.
Thanks for this response- you nailed my thoughts and feelings about the post. The shaming is so unnecessary and hate how it takes the stance of, 'It's all just in your head'. Think you covered it all 👍
-
My guess is it's because the Rift is open again. Some of the challenges ask you to complete some quests that can easily be seen as toxic/bm 😔

No, people need to stop acting like a snotty ungrateful 8 year old who didn’t get the super nice expensive toy that they wanted for Christmas. It’s safe to assume most people here on the forums are over 18+ years of age yet they’re still acting like a 8 year old over a HUD system.
Ok, you need to stop for a second and realize how much you're minimizing ppl's feelings with your dismissive rhetoric.
I didn't get this game and dlc for free- did you? Did any one else? No, we all opened our wallets and paid to play DbD; which means this, or any other game/dlc that we pay for, is NOT a "gift".
This is a business, they function to make money. And we feel upset that we paid for a product that doesn't deliver.
If you pay someone to do your taxes and they make a mistake, are you telling me you keep quiet? If you pay for a toaster on Amazon and they send you a defective one, do you just keep it?
A few ppl might be stepping over the line into hostile territory, but the majority of us are just speaking up because this is NOT the product we paid for. And maybe if enough of us speak up, we can finally talk to a manager 🤷♀️

This kind of thread reminds me of a game I played before DBD came out; I won’t name it or the company, but I was very active on its forum. One day, a patch came out that changed many things the players were comfortable with. The forums were in the same state we are now, thousands of rants over the internet and sometimes a post like this one.
Then the devs said they couldn’t revert the change because old version was gone. Again, history repeats itself. And the forums were “devs this sucks”, “we want old game back” etc.
The devs didn’t listen. After 6 months, game died. You’d always play with the same players, queues were long as hell.
”Devs, the game is dying” said the majority of the posts in the forum.
”We have data saying otherwise, the game is fine” kept replying the community manager.
Another three months passed, and they closed the servers. That game no longer exists.
Saddest part? This is 100% a true story, and I literally am seeing the same exact situation happening here.
It's a good cautionary tale. For the first time, I really feel like DbD has hit a critical point. No matter how the feedback for the new HUD is couched (vicious or courteous), the vast majority is negative.
Imo, the HUD will be reverted/changed once devs see a concrete dip in players, but it might be too late by then. If the changes burn too many veteran players into quitting, they can't easily replenish their numbers with new players because of the learning curve and grind of the game.
I'm just hoping for the best.

You do realize that by taking that stance with the illogical opening of yours you are, in essence, acknowledging yourself to be one of the whiney, entitled people I was calling out for horrible behavior...to right? I mean being labeled a complainer is one thing but to expose yourself as a part of the toxic childish jerks in the forums is a whole different level of ungrateful.
Whatever you think @OBX is saying, at least they're being respectful- your tone and approach is hostile. The way you feel about whiny complainers is how I feel about bullies: They can leave the forums.

Happy?!
I agree with you on the importance of being vocal with appreciation for updates- but only when it's warranted. I won't be rude about it, but I won't sugar coat it either: why did the devs decide to change something no one had problems with, instead of fixing the laundry list of problems ALREADY existing?
I love this game, but this feels like a failed sleight-of-hand trick.

This is true. I've had plenty of matches where I let myself die to the EGC. A lot of times I'll go into the basement and locker-spam a few times so the killer can come see me die if they want.
You're a pure soul 🥺
-
The ONLY time I will dodge a lobby is if it's a full 4 person Claudette squad. I don't care what a Survivor brings into a match, or if everyone brings an item. That's a challenge and fair, but I fear being tormented by a lobby that's deliberately playing immersed and not doing any gens for the next 30+ minutes.
I'm a fragile flower and that's just my boundary 😥

I alternate between Killer and Survivor and was playing the Trapper earlier today.
Now, when it comes to EGC, I don't stick around at the Gates. If I can see the Survivors standing in there, I walk away immediately and just look at my phone or something while I wait it out. I'm not giving them the satisfaction. You won, now leave.
Today though I had 2 matches where things went a bit differently.
In the 1st, most of them left once I walked away, but one kept evidently speed vaulting a pallet judging by the rapid notifications I was getting. This continues for most of the EGC, until it's replaced by the sound of them being auto sacrificed. Guess they didn't know that would happen when the timer expired.
In the 2nd, one Survivors DC'd almost immediately, I sacrificed one of the others, after the last gen was repaired. The last 2, one of which was a Flashlight Clicker that had all but begged me to chase them, made it to the gate and I walked away. They both came back and got right in my face! So I hit one, they split, injured one gets caught in one of my traps inside the killer shack. So I hook them in the basement. Reset the window trap and put one on the stairs for good measure. The last one did the smart thing and fled.
I did not think walking away would ever pay off like it did today. Anyone else seen taunting go wrong like that?
It's entirely possible the speed vaulter was waiting for EGC. I've done that before- I don't know how your match went, but if I feel the Killer had a bad one or was harassed, I'll run up to the them once gates are open and offer myself as sacrifice.
And if I can't find them, I just let the EGC take me 🤷♀️
Killers put up with a lot of poo-poo sometimes, and they deserve love too. *Hugs*

No joke after this game I actually felt light headed.
So was playing some solo survivor and got a Pig on Ormond. She started roaring at me so I thought "I'll just try to boop the snoot". She then started hitting a locker so I thought again I'll be nice and jump in. She grabbed me and put a trap on my head. I then got camped till nearly second stage while she was crouched.
After I got saved I got tunnelled. As soon as I got half way through a box she downed me. After she tried carrying me to a corner I decided I'm just going to not let anyone heal me so I won't get killer by the trap and my teammates can escape. However I was soooooo wrong..
My teammates with one gen left decided to waste 3 MINUTES trying to heal me when I obviously didn't want healed. They even 90% a gen and still kept trying to heal me even though the killer was crouched right next to me. After waiting out the full bleed out timer the killer downed one of them and did the same thing. Long story short she killed 2 of them and the 3rd escaped.
They were a 3 man swf, all rank 5 and above and still didn't understand what was going on. My head is legitimately getting worse just typing this out lol
It says a lot when I didn't know after I died if I wanted the killer to 4k or everyone to escape. Oh btw i forgot to say the Pig also had Tampered Timer (30 seconds decreased on timer) and Jigaws Annotated Plan (extra jigsaw box).
I'm sorry if this is too long but I couldn't make it any shorter. It'll be a while before I consider touching solo survivor again.
I am sorry that Piggy abused your trust 😥 If Killers want to meme, that's GREAT! But it seems in this case the Killer was using meming as a way to get easier kills, which is just....skuzzy.
Either meme, or don't. Killers who signal meme play- you're not extra smart for taking down someone who is down to have a chillax meme game. You're not big-brained- you toxic 😔

@ukenicky said:
When I hear a chainsaw I prepare myself for one of two things:
A super fun match against a Billy
Or
A crap match against a Bubba
There's just nothing fun about Bubba. If you don't reach a pallet or window you get insta downed. Of course, the real reason Bubba is not fun to play against is the fact that they almost always camp and tunnel off hooks. I mean I get it, when your power lets you OHKO multiple people why wouldn't you but it's really poor design if you ask me.
Nevermind basement Bubbas that's a whole different realm of bs. Idk like, other killers basement saves feel possible but against Bubba it can and usually will result in everyone dying. A trade if you're very lucky.
With Billy the lethality of his chainsaw is limited to only ever hitting ONE survivor so you never get these problems with him. Also the way his chainsaw sprint / attack works makes him fun to loop. I love the adrenaline rush when he comes flying at me it scares me so much but I still feel like I can juke and do stuff lol
Leatherface I feel none of that it's more like I just want to be in the next game. Him and Freddy make me consider leaving asap they're just overtuned and boring to play against.
Anyways, having said all that I wouldn't mind if they looked at Bubba. He is an incredibly strong killer even without camping / tunneling / slugging. Easily A to S tier because of his insane lethality potential. Like you said he can potentially OHKO 4 survivors with one use of his power that's just silly lol
But I don't see how they can ever change him without reworking him in a fair way and even then idk how. Tbh I'd rather just never play against him than ask for him to be nerfed.
I can't stand this character lol
COMPLETELY agree! I get fired up when it's Billy, trying to time 90 degree turns just before he goes to down me. It's beautiful give and take in chase.
-
I think things will start to get interesting. While there's currently nothing quite like DbD, Phasmaphobia is seeing lots of play and other horror multiplayer games are spawning based on it's success. It would not surprise me if this "niche" market is being eyeballed and considered by other developers.

Well, there's this sweet spot called *The Zone*, and it takes a different amount to get there for each person. I find one gin cocktail helps me feel less self-conscious, especially in a SWF. That extra confidence helps me try for better plays.
Now if I overshoot The Zone, I consistently blow gens and get lost in the EGC. Also, sometimes I can be found whispering at corn and bushes, 'Claudette, dat you???'

Happy Holidays to all of you from a constantly exhausted shark! This year has been hard on everyone, everyone has lost something this year, but I hope just for a little bit we can finally sit down and just relax and enjoy the simple things.
We may not get to spend the holidays with family in person, I certainly know I can't go to the usual festivities of my family which always were very big (and exhausting and stressful), but technology has come so far that we can sit down and talk through other means. Enjoy each others company in new ways, have a nice cup of tea/coffee/cacao, whatever floats your boat. Treat yourself with a nice meal. Spend some hours with no technology, read a book, light some candles (before you go to bed, please make sure to blow them out!).
The other option is to ofc play a game that happens to allow you to hang people up on a hook. That option is also available, for sure. 🦈🦈🦈
