I actually agree with nearly everything you've said, and give you a lot of credit for looking at current game health and how to try and create a solution.
That being said, I don't think dishing out more money for dlc is the answer. I DO think that there needs to be some sort of roundtable where player feedback is acknowledged real time so the community feels heard. And the devs can be transparent about what their goals are and how the community can support them and the game.
At the moment there's too much vagueness and questions unanswered on the devs side, and too much anger and pointing fingers on the community side. I think it's going to take BOTH sides engaged in open dialogue for things to get better.
Maybe something like an ambassador program, where community members can discuss game concerns with several devs every few weeks? I know the Fog Whisperers are technically supposed to fill this role, but that hasn't really borne fruit π€·ββοΈ

Yeah, that also is completely different from what I'm talking about. I swear reading comprehension skills on this forum are lacking. Go back and read my original post it clearly is about killers that kill one survivor then allowing the rest to survive. Nothing about that has anything to do with your excuses for why you decide to farm. It's pretty simple, farm the whole match or none of it.
Please don't be rude to ppl who are taking the time to answer your question. Because you did ask a question.
Maybe you need to re-read your post yourself. Because if all you wanted to do was vent and drag players for a specific play decision and then dismiss any reasons for it, you shouldn't have opened the discussion with a question.
Good luck, hope you have better games.

So I'm straight up a dumpster fire at DbD on console (recently got Steam but not using it atm), but if @megswifey and @MadLordJack (or anyone else) ever want to chat or discuss games, say hi to me on my Discord:

What a fantastic game this is, and it performs incredibly on PS5.
On top of all the great things in this game, The Hordes are a technical marvel. The ones that are 300+ in size are astonishing, exhilarating, and genuinely terrifying.
It took me FOREVER to destroy my first horde! I can't even recall how many times I tried, lol
I loved how customizable the bike is, too! I only finished about half the game, now I feel the urge to pick it back up π

Gaming, especially horror games. I very recently fell down the rabbit hole of vtubing and am trying to figure out how to rig an avatar for streaming. When I feel down, my go to is watching stand up comedy- I love Lewis Black and Fluffy.

Sometimes it comes down to how you play. I've noticed that Killers won't farm with players that "bm"- tbag, clicky clicky flashlight, blendette, etc. Sometimes a survivor completely misses the signal from the Killer that they're farming friendly π€·ββοΈ
I try not to spectate any more myself because sometimes it just aggravates me to watch.

I don't know if I'd consider it toxic. It can definitely be unfun for Survivors, though. There was one match I had playing against Nurse. She'd slug, we'd heal, she'd find us with Nurse's Calling, and repeat the process.
She finished all so fast we didn't even get to finish a SINGLE gen! As the last Survivor, when she came for me, I laid down my medkit and crouched. My mercy plea was accepted and we ran across the map looking for Hatch.
I guess my point is, while it might be seen as toxic, the Killer might be trying to complete a challenge or practice their power, ie, Blinking. But it's always difficult to read intention in the virtual world.

Can I join the gamer girl support group? I had a guy get surprised that I knew who Mitch Murder was and also been told 'jokes' about cooking and cleaning in chats with all guys. I suck at FPS and always laugh at myself when playing, but then get some guys who are salty before seeing my bunny pfp and being like 'omg queen im not like that i swear' and i need a hug from auntie jyn and conehead ;w;
Omg, I give unlimited hugs to those that deserve them, and you surely do. It's so effing bizarre- we love gaming and want to support our favorite developers and games. I've heard stuff like, "make me a sandwich" when a dude finds out you're a girl gamer.
I can only assume it's due to the prevalent age group playing a particular game, but it's still BS.
For me, and in my mind- gaming is at it's very best when it appeals to what makes us HUMAN, not what divides us as a gender. I really long for a day when we can all just play a game out of love/interest, and unite over that.
Until then, I will give hugs to whoever wants them π€

I've been gaming since I can remember, I'm 22 now. It's always been a thing when it shouldn't be, I remember in school when the boys would talk about gaming and lil 5 year old me being a girl was excited to make friends, they laughed and told me I probably played Barbie games. Even in single player games like Detroit become human, wolf among us, TWD have negativity in their communities which doesn't even make sense for a game based on its story, but there it is; judged on the choices you make in game. There's a cycle of toxicity in gaming and it's sad, maybe it'll break but I doubt it, for now I hope you have a good day and keep your head up.
Omg, you're a lady, too? Come here, sweet summer child, Auntie Jyn will protecc you! Some communities are chill with female players, but it's a fact some are very toxic. I hope the female market will be given more of an appeal, because there's so many ladies that have grown up gaming and will happily contribute to a community that recognizes them.

*giving you big hugs thru the ether*
I feel for you, sometimes ppl have valid opinions and have no idea how to convey it in a non-inlammatory way. And some just have no clue how to read a room. All I can suggest is curating YOUR experience within the community. If something hurts you, or upsets you, by all means say something. But you can also be free to ignore and nope out of every convo/post that brings you down. Only you can decide β€

I honestly thought it was only done to signal to other survivors "Don't try and save me, the Killer is camping!"
Especially the stealth killers or perks that affect TR, sometimes the Killer will hide from LOS and wait. So that's the only reason I flap on hook- to warn teammates.

Hi! So, I'm a complete newbie, both to DBD and multiplayer vs games in general. My friend convinced me to buy the game for my Switch (my only console, no computer) a few days before Halloween. I've been scrolling through the forum a bit, and watching YouTube vids to try and get a grasp on the gameplay mechanics, but there's one thing I'm kinda fuzzy on: gameplay etiquette.
My basic question is: what is considered rude/trolling/salty/etc? I'm asking because my dumba$$ wasn't aware that rapid crouching is considered 'teabagging'. I kinda viewed it as jumping up and down, which I do in other multiplayer games as a way of showing excitement. Thankfully, I haven't done it to a killer or anything, but it made me wonder what else I should avoid doing so I don't come across as a d!ck on accident.
Thanks in advance!
One thing regarding t-bagging: Between survivors, its meaning becomes friendly. When you start the match and meet another survivor, it's not uncommon for them to quick double crouch as a form of greeting. Or after a healing, it can be used as a "thank-you".
The other big one I didn't get right away: If you are the last Survivor and the Killer is carrying you, but hits stuff or turns in circles when you try to wiggle out. Not always, but many times this is a way for the Killer to say, "stop struggling", because they're trying to give you Hatch.
Good luck! Just try to have fun.

Survivor: 6-7 depending on the Killer. I'm terrible against Oni and Spirit -_-

Perks like NM, Thanatophobia, etc., sometimes get ######### on because people who run them "never get to use them", or, in the case of Thanatophobia and wiggling, don't make as much of an impact as they wanted. In this thread I'll try to explain why they have the wrong mindset about these perks/interactions.
Let's start with No Mither. Arguably, its main characteristics are the permanent Broken status and the ability to pick yourself up from the dying state as many times as you want.
Now, as we all know, most killers won't let a No Mither survivor stay in the dying state; they will hook that survivor. To survivors, this seems like a waste of No Mither, since they never get to pick themselves up from the dying state. However, consider this: you didn't pick yourself up, but the killer was forced to hook you. They could've slugged you to pressure everyone if you didn't have the perk, but they couldn't, because you had No Mither.
Now Thanatophobia. The perk slows down survivors' interactions depending on how many are alive and not healthy.
At its full power, it increases generator repair time by 20 seconds (see my PSA on how to properly calculate how long interactions take if you're slowed). Killers see this as useless because that almost never happens, since survivors will just heal each other and there's no reliable way to make them Broken.
The thing is that when survivors are constantly healing each other, they're actually wasting more time than you would've otherwise gained from Thanatophobia. One heal takes 16 seconds, assuming one survivor is healing another. That's two survivors who are doing nothing for almost the same length of time as Thanatophobia at full power.
Wiggling. It takes 16 seconds to fully escape from the killer's grasp, but it's seen as useless because "you can never wiggle free" and some survivors just won't wiggle at all. On the other hand, the fact that you're wiggling to begin with will prevent the killer from taking you into the basement, or hooking you in some remote corner of the map away from your teammates, or hooking you in a dead zone so you can't escape if they come back.
The mindset that if you don't fully use something it becomes worthless completely ignores one important concept: deterrence. These effects aren't there to be used every single time, they're there to heavily discourage the other side from ignoring the perks/mechanics.
So, the next time you look at a perk or mechanic, don't just think about the immediate effects and how often you will realistically be able to use them, but also think about how that will change the way your opponents play.
Thanks for this post! I've always specifically disliked No Mither because I never saw any real use for it. But you explained it beautifully. Seconds can really make or break a victory, especially when you leave the potato ranks.
-
For sure, it is WAY easier to communicate your intention as Killer. I still will approach as Survivor to meme and such, but Killer doesn't carry the same risk.

I think its kinda easy to explain... No Idea how many people are watching him right now, but as we all know how much he has become popular due to fortnite for sure 10ns of thousands people are watching him daily.. most of his playerbase he gained from fortnite right ? Fortnite is well known due to cosmetics same as dbd..
so my opinion is they are pushing to kids category as their new customers to get as many new people as possible woh are willing to buy insane amount of money for cosmetics.. kinda ######### for us already players sadly..
Kinda scared how this will go.. can you imagine to have here another 10k screaming kids with rank 18 which got killed during 1st minute and already screaming that trapper is ok ? :D sigh...
I hadn't thought of this. Now I feel a little nervous. Most ppl I've met in game and forum are super chill, but if the influx of new players brings a 10 y/o kid telling me to stop playing DbD and make them a sandwich...I might lose my ######### π

Perhaps they should introduce it at a game mechanic then if it's popular
Part of the fun is coming across memeing in the wild. I know some ppl have questioned what memeing is, and the closest way I can explain it is a player acting in a funny or unexpected way. And that isn't limited to Pig, just that Boop the Snoot is probably the most well known meme for that Killer.
Ghost Face spam crouching is also a meme- I had a match where 2 survivors approached me as GF and crouched across the map with me.
Some players refuse to meme even if it's signaled, and that's ok. Especially with hyper-competitive players they feel it wastes time, and that's when those attempts get you killed, lol. But there's a lot of players that don't know/recognize how to meme.
It's just meant to be fun and take the game less seriously. For as many Killers that might kill you for trying to meme, there's also quite a few that will let you go for giving them some laughs and refreshing gameplay.

I'm pretty sure Justice isn't the purpose with NoED. And I don't mind using it or playing against it. Survivors get plenty of 2nd chance perks, why not give one to Killers?
With 4 Survivors to manage and unpredictable matchmaking, NoED is a reasonable option.
