It's not a competitive game + it is a computer game, first and foremost. No balance changes should be made with console in mind just because some fools play killer on controller.
I'm one of those fools who play killer on console. Am I wrong for asking for better sensitivity and more controller options? Since they've said repeatedly we aren't getting M&K support?
Am I wrong for asking for stable frame rates, so I don't miss each and every blessed blink attack? Or for a full thorough proper optimization that would benefit us all?
The vast majority of the playerbase is on the consoles, yet the vast majority of the killers are on PC. Da fook is up with that?

Well, I've never understood why you would SWF with someone you couldn't talk to, since it defeats the purpose. Rest assured, a majority of SWFs are also in communication with each other.
This happens whenever I play with a bud from PlayStation. I know of no way to add them to an Xbox party.

The devs try the impossible, to balance around solo and swf at the same time. Wont work, and either killers are unhappy, or solo survivors.
I believe that will be the downfall of the game.
There is some truth in this. Solo has been down for far too long and needs luvinz badly.

I wish there was a page on DBD where you could see some personal stats. Like maybe "best killer" "most used perk" "most survived perk" "longest chase perk" "most survived map" etc. I know this wouldn't do things for everyone but I jump around a lot between perks and characters and I think it would just really help with strengths and weaknesses overall. Especially since I know we all have confirmation biases when it comes to certain things. Like I sometimes feel like my legion play is super weak but I think they are probably my highest MMR killer which could explain why. Or I know a lot of killers HATE Gideons Meat Packing Plant, and I 100% understand why because of the ton of pallets make it FEEL bad but I don't think the kill escape rate on that map is as bad as people assume.
Like I just think that this type of dashboard would be nice to have and help me work on my weaknesses as both a survivor and a killer. I know other games provide this type of page and think it could be helpful on a personal level with dbd, but let me know what other people think. If they had this type of dashboard what would you most want to see?
I do recognize that I can keep track of these stats myself, however I would rather not spend additional time just recording information that dbd already has especially when some of the things would be a lot harder for me to track (ie average chase time with killers or perks)
@Sharpefern said:
Categories I think would be most helpful with all stats only covering the past 90 days
Killers - Games Played
"Best Killers": 1-3 with average kill rate
"Most Played Killers": 1-3 with number of games
"Most Used Perks": 1-3 with % of games
Survivors - Games played
"Survival Rate": percent of games escaped
"Most Used Perks": 1-3 with % of games
"Most Survived Perks": 1-3 with Survival Percentage
I believe there are two reasons why this cannot be implemented:.
First off I'm pretty sure they would have had to code this from the start in 2016, and it would be a nightmare to recode for it now if at all possible, similar to why they cannot just add in a replay mode either.
The other reason I'm a bit less certain about, but makes sense given how little platform-specific data we get. That is the various UEA's with the consoles preventing release of all sorts of data, once a game is out. So again it would likely to had been in the game before porting to the consoles in 2018ish.
Be an awesome addition to DDB 2 some day.

I am really tired of these as both survivor and killer. Like I feel like map offerings should be a map ban as opposed to a map choice. Like I think they actually would have more use and less hate.
The offerings themselves aren't the root problem, it's map imbalances on several of them. While I wouldn't be opposed to your idea, fixing the maps I feel would be a better option.
Also poop-yourself Meyers and a couple of other killer builds are absolutely map-dependant, and this change would make them cry.

They seemed to be able to do that before when they turned off the timer because of the crashing issues when the event began.
plus if we can provide screenshots of the crash report then that should show that it’s not us.
Maybe for PC, but the consoles don't get crash report pages, or anything else really. And that's still by far the larger playerbase.
Occasionally it's a "Disconnected from Host" message, but most times it's just back to the main menu for us, wondering what tf happened.

@Seraphor with the greatest of respect, telling new players that the only way they are going to get a fair game, is by playing against their complete beginner friends in a custom game? And BTW, although this weekend is the free weekend, if you wait a month or two you'll be able to play with bots......
I suspect that matchmaking is completly skewed to minimise queue times, to the point where any killer who has been waiting long enough, and one of these survivor "noobs" presses the ready button..... they are just going to get thrown into that game, regardless of their MMR, skill, or playtime. That is a game issue, not a player issue! They would have been prepared to have longer lobby times for a "fairer" game.
You are correct about the system favoring queue times over farish matchmaking. Also the backfill caused by lobby dodging borks up the system each time as well. In those cases we're doing it to ourselves really.

@burt0r said:
Well when the program recognizes it as a server/system sided crash it shouldn't give a penalty.
But anything else is just indistinguishable from each other and can't be made an exception.
I wish server issues didn't apply the penalty either, but the devs have said it cannot distinguish between those connection problems or the player closing the game/pulling the plug/whatever.

Personally, I main Pinhead because I really like the character (actually have a replica of the Lament Configuration on a shelf in my office) and I love his built-in slowdown mechanic.
My backup guy is the Dredge, because he brings a big toolkit with him...undetectable, counter-looping, great mobility. I also really enjoy how unpredictable it's possible to be when playing him.
Amanda Panda is my main. Because she is bae, and also boops.

From what I can tell, only the sweatiest of SWF in that mythical "high MMR" bracket is the real problem. The extremes of the skill levels for this game are nightmares to balance, but thankfully still a tiny percentage of the overall playerbase.

I knew there was a lag after Hag warped where attacks wouldn't hit, but I didn't know Nurse had it too.
Even if she blinks in a great position on the console, it's often the case that the attack doesn't hit for some reason
Exactly. The vast majority of the playerbase is on the consoles, yet the vast majority of the killers are on PC.
I wonder why???
;)
-
When I first started playing killer eons ago I tried for weeks to learn Nurse on my Xbox1. Then she did not have the recharge bar thingy, but several things all combined to make her too difficult to control for me:
First is the slow turning camera that suddenly whipps around wayyy to fast, making it harder to track survs. This is a dead-zone problem with controller and some input lag sprinkled on top.
Second is the micro-freeze with each and every blink made, causing miss after miss after miss, and that rolls into the longer fatigue time. Hag suffers from this too, making insta-hits from a teleport impossible.
Lastly is all the known fps drop triggers ganging up on you, be it from Sloppy or an unhook or Exposed or Exhausted or a gen popping or (back then) even a chest being searched.
And that was before a host of bugs moved into her. Couldn't imagine playing her now, or what tf our Switch cousins do with her.
Not fun. For all those on PC and familiar with running Nurse, borrow a friend's PS4 or whatever and roll her out. Tell us what happens.
-
I'm over here praying fervently they don't mean "console" nurses...

In keeping with the very strict chat filter, we should change the name to "Not Alive by Daylight". Blood will be removed from the game, and killers can now be called, "Injurers" instead. That ought to make the game more family friendly. Let's go for that T rating!
Join us on console, where you don't have to deal with these shenanigans.
On a completely unrelated topic, you don't really need those steady 60 frames, do you? ;)

Im mostly talking as a survivor solo q player but at the end, DBD is a tic tac toe game where survivors are filling spaces somewhat blind.
a killer can choose 3 close gens from start and guard them, with that he ensures control over the game.
the killer can start the game normally but always paying attention to their desired gens, once 3-4 gens are done, he can closely guard the other 3 gens and hook survivors in the close area.
my proposal is so killers should not be able to see gens from the start of the game but unlock this ability once the killer hooks survivors 3 or 4 times.
this ensures the killer cant chose what gens to guard and make it a little fair for solo q players.
Make a new perk:
Boon: Let me work
Blocks the killer's ability to see a gen after being repaired after 25% progress is made but ends when there's 15% left to go. Blocks the aura readings of gens as well.
Wouldn't prevent a three-gen, which is a legit strat for good killers, and hurts Tinkerer.

Hello,
With more and more console games opting to support m&k, I believe dbd should follow suit. Considering they haven't even resolved the issue of adding cross-progression, this seems like a natural compromise. After researching this topic on-site, I found several threads of people expressing this desire as well. Here are some console (not console-exclusive) games that support m&k:
----------
• Fortnite
• COD
• Ark: Survival Evolved
• Terraria
• Minecraft
• Halo Infinite
*Please note this is not a complete list of supported games - just some notable ones*
----------
I know myself and others would love to see this made a reality for dbd. I really hope it's something they're considering in the short-term.
As you pointed out this has been asked for repeatedly for years now. During their last Q&A they said yet again they have no plans to add it. Last I heard the reasoning was it would take way too long, involve way too many resources, and also require a UI interface overhaul as well.

-
I don't have a problem with seeing this info after the trial, but I can see a reason why they won't show it.
Many "serious" killers keep track of survs they wish to avoid for one reason or another. Providing direct proof of SWF members will get those survs onto the black books of many killers, and the dodging increases.
Lobby dodging already borks up the matchmaking badly, we need no more of it.

The game released in 2016, there is no excuse to tell people they need to buy a minimum $500 console because BHVR can't be bothered to fix the game for the platforms that were contemporary with it.
To add to this, we often bash the devs for the way this game has been coded, but now are we saying they've managed to code past the capabilities of the older consoles?
It can't be both.

Not really, remember the GPU on the PS4 is a downgraded version of the AMD HD 7870 which came out in 2012. So the fact it can run it at all with acceptable frame rates is pretty impressive tbh
I have an Xbox1x, the absolute strongest of the prior gen machines, and it was built in 2019. I too have performance issues with RPD, as well as most of the indoor maps plus new Haddonfield and a few others.
It ain't the bloody machines were using, it's the rotini/ziti/campanelli coding and the awful optimization that effects us all, regardless of platform.

Swf would be an issue for sure but just the fact the killer's vote is always outnumbered is my point. It also puts solo survivors in a bad spot with voting as well when paired with swf.
These are valid concerns. If maps were more balanced it wouldn't matter where a trial is played, beyond just personal preference.
Then a voting system of some sort could be added. Based on fun. Remember fun?

It's been over a year since Nemesis came out, has anyone heard from the devs if they can start adding more zombies on the maps yet? I remember people asking about it and the devs stating the game in its current state couldn't handle more zombies yet, so I wanted to check in and see if there's been any news on that.
The story goes like this:
While developing Nemmy one of his Iri add-ons did indeed spawn in another zom zom. It tanked game performance so badly they scrapped the idea and changed the add-on.
Now assuming they develop using very bad-ass PC's, I could only imagine what it would do to lower end PC's and the consoles.
Prolly would just melt a Switch, and My Xbox1 is crying just thinking about it.

Buy pc bro
Why? It is widely accepted many killers can only be played to their full potential with M&K. And most games with Crossplay give this option.
Also some cannot afford a gaming PC, in particular one that can run this bug-filled poorly-optimized heap of spaghetti well.
And say one gets that fantastic PC. Remember there's no Cross Progression either, nor is it likely to ever happen. So they'd have to rebuy the game, rebuy the DLC's, rebuy any wanted cosmetics, and then regrind everything from scratch as well. You know the grind of this game, and few with thousands of hours and whatever monies spent are going to go through all that
Just sayin get a PC is not a viable solution.

I’m not mad, just a bit disappointed about all the items and cosmetics from 4 years of playing a live service game. I actually didn’t play DbD much this past year because of the dreaded RE-Grind after moving to PC last summer. DbD is my most played game EVER. I love the game and it would be FN Awesome to have all my cosmetics again.
That step I will never do, and I bet most others will not as well. After thousands of hours and whatever monies spent on DBD I cannot rebuy and regrind everything. Nope nope nope.
When I can't play the game any longer on my Xbox1 then I'm done.
-
The devs have stated many times they have no intention to add Voice Chat to DBD. Among their reasons is the availability of Discord and other similar 3rd party options, and the language barrier between regions and within countries.
To that I'd add I bet they do not want to have to moderate such a chat either.
Whether these are good reasons is up for debate.

The devs don't play their own game on console or they'd see the same things we're seeing. And then they don't believe us unless we have video evidence and tell us to deal with it when we tell them it's difficult to do on console.
I play on XBox Series X and since the 6.0 update, the game health has been awful. Longer than normal loading screen times (2-4 minutes main loading screen after starting the game, between 30 seconds to 2 minutes loading a match), lag, stuttering, significant framerate drops, audio lag, ect.
Changing sounds does not improve framerates. Animations do very little. What does improve framerates is making sure content is released with little to no bugs/glitches, that locations/maps aren't cluttered with unnecessary objects, and codes aren't trying to overwrite other codes. My guess is there is a lot of codes trying to overwrite other codes. You have 4 players with a large list of possible perks, 1 killer with about the same list of perks, killer abilities have to compete with said perks and vice versa with survivors, while competing with objects in the map (generators, totems, ect). My overall point is the game is starting to get cluttered with code and that can cause some of the most issues in framerates, freezes, lag, ect.
They need to either fix their codes which may not ever be possible depending on how many are conflicting. or start a whole new game from scratch which would be the easier solution.
And up to this point their solution is to neither recode this game from the ground up nor make a fresh DBD2. Most likely waiting for support of the prior gen consoles to end so we can be all be punted away...

Hag, at least for me on console, is both not fun to vs. or play as. You need time and cooperation from survs to set up an effective web of traps, and as others have noted experienced survs counter her badly. Also I get a frame drop with each and every teleport, so insta-hits are out as well.
Both Hag and Twins benefit greatly from slugging, a hated play style which is being made super ineffective in an upcoming patch.
