  • Removing the only counterplay to Toomstone Myers would mean all killers running him would just use the add-on for a busted easy game. And suddenly he becomes played in half of all matches if not more, kinda like Wesker is now.

Against solos most likely they all die before anyone realistically could escape, every match. So they'd quickly grow to despise Myers after Myers running that.

Against comms or survs paying attention they might get the gens done before two or more die, maybe, but also grow to despise lots of Myers running that.

That’s ridiculous that achievements don’t save to your account, it isn’t like you’re switching gaming platforms.

It's the same for Xbox and the PlayStations, they consider them different titles so no achievements/trophys transfer. We can still run the old gen version of the game where our progress still is, but who wishes to do that?

I think showing who was in a SWF group with whom AFTER the trial would help a lot to show killers that 2/3 of all the goofs and potatoes they played again were SWFs who were no Seal Team 6s. It would also do away with this situations were someone is clearly in a SWFs, but they claim in the post game chat "lol, we are jsut some randos who never played before. Stop being salty about nothing."

Yes, in theory you could write down their names and dodge their lobbies, but its so rare that I even recognize a player from an earlier game, yet alone would go through the hassle of keeping a list, that I don't think that this would be a big problem.

I would have no problem with them showing SWF groupings post-trial, even though it would lead to more dodging that borks up the matchmaking badly.

Though not big in number, there absolutely are killers who keep their Black Books of players to avoid.

As for that chat box, in this narrow particular I'm kinda glad it's a feature us consolers do not have.

  • The supremely coordinated SWF that take things too far with gameplay that actively squashes the fun for the killers is the problem.

Ideally those groups would only get matched with veteran high skill killers that can handle them. However both mmr that prioritizes queue times and the self-inflicted harm from lobby dodging results in matchmaking that can serve up quite the lopsided trial.

With abuse breeding abuse and the toxicity that results, those groups have poisoned the killer players against all SWF groups. The fear if not paranoia of going against them leads to detective work, and lots and lots of lobby dodging, which is why showing them up front can't happen. Too many play in SWF now it's too late.

But I confess I don't have any easy solutions either. Can't stop comms, can't ditch SWF mode. So the devs are attempting to slowly bit by bit get solos the info to make coordination possible. Then maybe most killers can be rebalanced around that new state of affairs. Might work I dunno, but that seems to be the plan.

The point is killers often go into matches in full sweat mode expecting to get sweat thrown at them, and the cycle continues.

Wiggle escaping is not meant to be easy. The mechanic is there, so that the survivor has a chance to wiggle off, but not a guaranteed wiggle off - there's perks that can help and also team work, if someone sabo's a hook, runs Breakout etc. But as a stand alone mechanic, it's meant so that the killer cannot get someone to the basement every single hook and has to think about where to hook the survivor.

Exactly. Plus as hooks are destroyed by sacrifices, hookless zones can have the wiggling matter even more, with or without teamwork.

  • The wiggle matters so everyone doesn't end up in the basement, and for teammates to deny the hook (sabo, taking hits, boil over, breakout, etc.)

Plus there's scoring events tied to those actions of teamwork, as well as challenges.

PCs are more accessible than they've ever been. Are you stuck in the 80-90's or something? If you can afford current gen consoles every cycle you can afford to save for a mid-range PC, low at worst.

Sounds like you should cry to the devs for not following up on their promises of cross-progression years ago. DLC, you know what you were getting into buying a non-AAA game with tonnes of DLC, doubt the devs will ever do anything to alleviate that because M O N E Y.

Very few players with thousands of hours are willing to rebuy everything for DBD and regrind everyone from scratch. You know the grind of this game, no matter what changes they've recently made.

Cross Progression is pretty much a fantasy for those of us on Xbox or PlayStation, and apparently for our Switch cousins as well. Knowing this, OP's request for M&K support is very reasonable.

  • @JonathanByers said:

Cant you just use a xim adapter for keyboard and mouse on console?

I believe those do work for the PlayStations, but last I heard one trying to work with DBD (and just DBD) is severely limited on Xbox. Things like the joysticks are dead, cannot turn self or camera, no buttons work, etc.

Also they're like $240 usd or so.

thatnks for reading this i just dont want to have to deal with potential input lag using those stupid devices that let you play any game you want using k&m so if they just put it for consoles as an option i wont have to...

Our PC cousins seem to view the end chat as dubious and perhaps not worth having around. I'm willing to bet a good many of them keep it closed.

M&K support has been asked for many times, and during the last Q&A stream they said again they have no plans to add it. A few years back they gave their only reasonings as it would take too long, take way too much effort, and require a UI update as well.

You think BNP is rough now, you should see its old version from a few years back. Now that was truly broken.

As for map offerings, the maps are to blame not the offerings themselves. If a good many maps were less one sided the offerings would be just for preference rather than advantage. Also certain killer builds like poop-yourself Myers are map-dependant big time.

Like for real where is it? It got announced 2 years ago and still there is nothing. And also there are no news at all. Other games have crossprogression between all Plattforms and such a big company like bhvr is not able to hold there promise in 2 years? Really?

The last update we got on it was in Jan 2022. They basically said DLCs weren't transferring (?) and while they 'remain dedicated to solving the issue, they can no longer provide a clear eta'. Since then has been radio silence. My hope is whatever technical issue that is preventing current account merging is also the problem with switch cross progression, so once it fixed we will get switch cross progression. Probably a pipe dream.

After 2 and a half years of playing on switch, I finally gave up and started playing on PC during the halloween event this year. The game is so much better, but man I miss my stuff. I don't even care about the DLC, I can get those back with shards/when they go on sale. I just want my cosmetics back. I had 10 rifts worth of cosmetics, plus event cosmetics that I miss so much.

At least you have a tiny sliver of hope. Those of us on Xbox and our PlayStation cousins don't even have that.

    It's a tough one.

I personally would just like either comms built into the game for solos or information queues like they were planning and then simultaneously buff killers to swf level.

That would make it much easier to balance these perks.

They aren't likely to add in comms, for varying reasons some good some weak af, but the biggie being it would be a nightmare to police and moderate. No way they want to have to do that as well.

  • @Blueberry said:

"If possible I believe we should seek balance so no perk, item, ability, etc. proves to be a crusher for solos. Or newbies either."

I agree. My post is basically trying to theorize how we would accomplish that without making swf stronger.

Hmmmmmm. The only way I can fathom is a change so that comms wouldn't matter either way.

The trigger for Eruption is the down, which comms can work around but solos cannot. That's the part needing attention, but what exact change so the perk wouldn't suddenly suck monkey ballz I do not know.

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3289294#Comment_3289294

Isn't everything a solo queue crusher?

If anything is made not to be too strong in solo queue doesn't that end up making it quite weak against swf?

If possible I believe we should seek balance so no perk, item, ability, etc. proves to be a crusher for solos. Or newbies either.

I do recognize the use of comms presents unique challenges to making changes. However what shows itself to be a problem needs to be looked at regardless.

  • @RavenBirb said:

One killer perk that blends into builds and all the survivors cry while they hold like 8 different strong perks in their back pocket. There's nothing overpowered about Eruption, it even has a cooldown, get better.

The vast majority of the complaints aren't due to perk synergy but from being more of a solo-queue crusher.

  • Hopping into lockers is the only defense against this, otherwise it would be overly OP. Yes once decent survs know you have the add-on and are likely going for the achievement they will absolutely use lockers to deny it.

I recommend trying to do this around grade reset time, and the advice others have offered in this thread is good as well.

  • At the very least, doing so would allow them to freshly code it from scratch. That hopefully would make it much more stable, better optimized, and maybe plug up some hack holes too.

    We can dream though fam

I did 2 gens, 360s+ chase and died on my first hook at 3gens left.... seriously start banning people, this is a joke games like this can even exist. People shouldn't be allowed to do nothing all game and not be punished for it, the fact I ended up with 3 of these players just highlights how common it is.

They do not ban for that, aside from afk as mentioned. Sounds like a matchmaking issue to me those survs and likely the killer as well shouldn't be getting matched with you I'd say.

I think the Entity basically is that. Lol

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/357148/entity-should-be-more-present-in-the-trials

A mood meter sounds really interesting. Reminds me of Xom, the chaos god from Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup, and your piety (a representation of your devotion and service to your god) would change randomly as he had mood swings and would do random ######### to you and your general vicinity with varying degrees of niceness depending on his mood.

Maybe a killer can influence the Entity's mood by certain actions. Say hooking each surv at least once gives Haste or Oblivious for 15 seconds or whatever.

Likewise maybe when a surv heals up four teammates they themselves get a slow regeneration on them, or whatever.

    Has possibilities

  • The animation of one surv healing another looks silly but might have sprung from cosmetics with backpacks and such where the healing hands woulda clipped right through, which the community would have skewered them for doing. That's all I can think of explaining it.

As far as the self heal disco duck dance, I got nuthin...

  • @FreddyVoorhees said:

It would give this game even more uniqueness. Right now , hooks and endgame collapse are not that immersive.

Survivors need to feel the presence of this being during the trials.

Perhaps it could have a mood meter in game ? Players could do things that might impress it or make it more curious. Or do things that would make it angry.

Both killers and survivors could fight to nudge its favor.

It could also act as a judge in the trial in some ways. It could punnish unsportmanship.

The longer the trial lasts the more it may want to intervene too. It could reward either side or hinder on the fly. It might affect the map and objects in game. All to make it more fun for the players.

Right now it is kinda basic with gens and hooks.

I think dbd gameplay would gain another dimension with this.

Sounds like a moody old school Dungeon Master...

It's been a while since I got that error on my Xbox. Whenever I did I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, which fixed it.

  • I know I'm in the minority in this, but I'm sooooooooooo glad I care ever so little for cosmetics in this game.

  • They would have had to do so back in 2016, it's way too late now with how this game was coded. Maybe in DBD2.

  • @FreddyVoorhees said:

There is no counter play to coms and they are a major non-dev implemented workaround to the gameplay.

Therefore the killer should have a buff that gets stronger the more swf members are in the survivor group.

2 survivors = reveal random survivor for 4s every 3m

3 survivors = reveal random survivor for 4s every 2m

full swf team = reveal random survivor for 4s every 1m

It literally functions the same as coms. The killer is told what survivors are doing. But less often than survivors who broadcast everything the killer is doing from 4 different sets of eyes across the map every 10s.

If a swf group is not using coms they are not in disadvantage as swf groups still have prep time , perks and items synergy etc.

Unless devs implement in game voice chat for the survivors , coms are by definition an exploit. No double standards.

The devs themselves have said using comms is not prohibited in any way. And they get to decide what is in their game "cheating" or "exploiting" or whatever terminology you like.

They've also said they wish the players to use whatever loadouts they want to. So I do not ever see them ever applying any zany tourney limitations either.

And I have no direct proof of this, but rumor has it the game doesn't register SWF (or most stats) until loading into a trial. So your proposed changes couldn't be implemented in that case anyway. I believe the mobile version can record such info, because it was coded very differently. But again, rumor.

  • Dang fam, even I put down Self Care.

And I'm a lousy surv who couldn't loop if I had an auto-looping machine for a charm...

  • @Ryuhi said:

Yes, if only because certain perks/addons/entire powers are disproportionately affected by communication, so I would avoid those when possible. I'm also not a fan of lobby shopping, so if i played multiple games in a row with them I'd probably just bail back over to survivor.

    Prolly the sanest approach

  • @Crowman said:

This is never going to happen, because will abuse the system to avoid playing against people playing strong killers.

This. Nurses and Blights and even Spirits would all be heavily blocked, as well as just very good killers. No way to block the bad apples without abuse and harming innocents.

  • @AverageAshEnjoyer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3281496#Comment_3281496

exactly. if youre playing with such a big advantage then the killer should know what theyre up against. its not like surv queues arent lightning fast anyways

That depends on region and time of day. Most SWF in NA don't play until like 5-6pm. Knowing this killers would lobby shop or not play at all, either way resulting in those teams getting no match.

We need to reward & incentive and not punish.

  • @AverageAshEnjoyer said:

simply let the killer know if its a 3 or 4 man in the lobby

And those teams would be dodged into oblivion and never ever ever evaaaaa get a match.

  • @Janeliet_Romeo said:

I know this will be a very controversial topic, and many will probably disagree, but I think SWF definitely needs to be looked at. It makes the killer experience completely different, and gives survivors more perks than they should have. Being in a SWF automatically gives you perks like kindred and bond which are both quite powerful. Although I know many people enjoy playing with others, I think SWF should be completely removed from the game, or survivors that are in a SWF should play with big handicaps to counter all the free perks that they get. These handicaps would be harsher for each survivor the more there are in the SWF. Again I know that a lot of people play with their friends but SWF is something that completely changes the course of the match for killer, and drastically lowers the chances of success for the killer, so I think the same should be for the survivors in the SWF to even out the playing field. Some handicaps survivors could start with could be slower gen repairs, faster bloodlust gain for the killer when getting chased, less perk slots and faster hook progression. Overwatch for example used to have a system where each team in competitive would have the same composition (eg if one team has a party of 3 and 3 solos, so would the other team) to give both sides an even chance. Since this isn’t possible in DBD as it’s a 1v4 I think some handicaps to survivor would be more than fair

They've said many times over they years they aren't looking to punish anyone for playing how they wish (aside from cheating & TOS like things). And that this isn't a comp game needing debuffs and limitations and other weird tourney rules in place.

Heck yeah I feel it when I go against a coordinated three- or four-man SWF, and know I'll get one to three hooks and maybe a kill. But in my experience those games are rare for me, and I blame matchmaking for getting those as I'm an okish surv but a terrible killer.

I believe I get those groups because they've been dodged several times and the matchmaking widens the search out, so we are making things actively worse with all the lobby shopping. But point is it goes back to the matchmaking, not SWF existing. And the uncomfortable fact is the best killers should go against the best survs, and most of them are in a SWF.

Last time they put out such stats (mid 2019 I believe) about half of all survs were in at least a two-man SWF, and that was by far the most common grouping with three- and four-mans far less seen. Since that time with solo queue being just delightful I have to believe the number of duos must have increased a lot. So you're talking about removing the largest portion of the surv playerbase. As others have said, that move will indeed kill this game.

    Hi DbD-Team,

i play on console and we have some disadvantage to PC-Players.

I know, most players are on PC, but we Console-Players would be happy if you can implement these things to console:

    • Chat like the PC-Players (we have no Chat, no read, no write)
    • Mouse/Keyboard-Support (Flashlight with Controller is impossible / As a Killer, you have a BIG disadvantage when using a controller)
    • Higher Resolution Textures (on PS5 or XSX, give us higher resolution Textures)

Thats it, maybe this is something you can do for us...;-)

Actually all together the consoles massively outnumber the various PC platforms. Mostly still on Xbox1 and PS4, but that will change over the next year.

I like your suggestions, and they all have been asked for over the years lots of times.

Just keep in mind they've said plenty of times they have no plans to add M&K support, and I'm not sure anyone will stick around the chat box while I take 14 minutes to type out a sentence with my controller.

Or when you have invited friends into a lobby. You can just turn on in game party chat. Then we can talk to over crossplay.

Video game programming IS very complicated. That is true.

That being said, there are very many zombie-based multiplayer computer/console games on the market today and they've been around for decades. Most fps games get a zombie-mode at some point. I'm not 100% sure why putting 2 zombies into their game was such a monumental hurtle to overcome. That kind of seems like the video games 101.

    The story goes like this:

Back while they were developing the first RE chapter they messed around with an iri add-on that indeed spawned in a third Zom Zom. It tanked game performance so badly they scrapped the idea and changed the add-on.

Now I assume they develop & test on badass PC's. So if those couldn't handle a third zombie, what hope is there for my Xbox1? Or our poor Switch cousins? What else could it be but the game's coding?

  • With the current instability of the game, it's hard to fault players wanting to yeet on out of wonky matches.

Our PlayStation cousins are loading into matches as killer just to have their cursor fail. What exactly should they do then? Can't even farm properly, let alone kill.

  • @Gamedozer7 said:

I really love how this new chapter is so broken yet BHV isn't willing to do anything to at least do some first aid for killer players atm. No matter what you do, u lose atm:

    1. Don't play knight so you avoid the bugs. Nice 7€ spent for something that doesnt work and probably wont for a couple of month
    2. Play the knight and encounter game breaking bug that either completely disables you or makes u super strong: Enjoy either running after survivors with M1 for the rest of the match or ur unfun match and probable ban for bug abuse.
    3. DC and enjoy ur 1 hours or more penalty cause of how often these bugs happen and u actually have to dc

Literary the only thing that you can do atm is either not touch the knight at all or if the bugs happen just stand there in resignation and "go play something else like civilization"

I mean BHV could at least disable the dc penalty for ppl that play as or against the knight so that you don't have to endure this bs every other match. And I find it ridicolous to basically say yeah heres 7€ for the new killer would be nice if u either don't touch him until we fixed everything in like a few weeks or just endure the bugs and sit in a corner if they happen cause it would be unfair bug abuse otherwise. Thanks for your contribution bye.

I seriously doubt they can track DC's by just one killer and adjust the penalties accordingly.

  • The more often this happens, the weaker the pushback becomes on the basekit Unbreakable changes.

  • They should leave that for those accursed woods, but even out the other maps.
