It is still a thing, to a lesser degree though.
-
This is still a thing, especially on close quarters maps. Every other blink results in teleporting to some different location, sometimes pretty far away from the correct place.

I say it that way because the phrase "tunneling gens" is an attempt to do two things.
It's a false equivalence, first. Survivors doing gens is not the same as killers going for survivors. The only thing these two have in common is that they're each teams respective objective for the match. That's where the analogy begins and ends.
Gens aren't a player, they're a PVE element. Technically it's a timer on the match, in a sense. There's no "the gen didn't get to play the match because it got finished first". That doesn't work.
Gens and hooks aren't even close to working the same. Hook stages are permanent, there is no perk, item, add-on, or mechanic that removes a hook stage from the match. Even StB moves it to a player exactly once (who announces loudly that it's happening), and does not undo that hook, even for people who misunderstand how the perk works.
Gen progress can be completely undone from 99 to zero at any time, can be taken in chunks (even base kit kicks now), regression cannot be instantly stopped.
And once a gen is complete or a player is dead there's no going back. That is progressing the match.
If survivors could "kick" a hook and remove hook states over time (regression), or gens would lock in and be unregressable every time they hit the next third of progress people would lose their minds, and even with those these two things still aren't identical.
The other thing this is attempting to do is shift the burden to imply that survivors are doing something they shouldn't be.
The default survivor gameplay is to do gens unless or until the killer gives them something else to do.
The core game is survivors reacting to the killer, not the other way around (although back and forth is common once PVP interactions come into play, like mind games, predictions, or game sense elements). Tunneling and camping is the opposite, generally leaving 2 or even 3 survivors alone (to do gens) while putting maximum pressure on one.
So that is why I say you haven't thought about this phrase.
But maybe you can give some insight, since you've been asked twice now and conveniently ignored the question both times so far:
What should survivors be doing?
Because the answer is clearly "not gens" in your mind. And, at least going by the tone of the general forums, survivors:
- Shouldn't be hiding (need to be near gens so the killer can find you easily).
- But not doing the gen itself.
- Shouldn't do anything that provides a benefit to the survivor or the survivor team (no lurking for flashlight saves, boons, body blocking, etc)
- Shouldn't do anything that is a detriment to the killer (sabo, cleansing hexes, body blocking, interacting with the killer power)
- Shouldn't be healthy, but should take as much time as possible to try to heal (health states are op, but you should need the full team to heal one person so they aren't on gens)
- Definitely shouldn't pre drop, or loop, or hold w, or pre run
- But shouldn't be giving up either
- And never, ever use any perks. Technician might be ok since you aren't touching gens
Which basically means survivors can open chests, but can't take anything that might be useful out of that chest.
But maybe I'll be surprised, so again: what do you think survivors should be doing?
tunneling gens means that you are allowed to finish a gen, when, following survivor rule book, killer is not allowed to finish a survivor.

Honestly I don't really know what other strategies to use when tunneling isn't allowed, camping isn't allowed, gen defense isn't allowed, and even slugging isn't allowed?
Guess simply running around aimlessly and hitting anything you see is the only thing killers are allowed now? I'm not opposed to the idea as that's what I have most fun with, but it'd require massive amount of buffs to actually work for vast majority of killers which is sub B tier
You can't have strategy that is against survivors rule book. I don't know why we need killer players at all and not go with the bot for every game.
-
Having shorter reach to atk someone is okay, but when it comes to terrain they should undo the change, imo, feels a bit lame to play like that

I play DBD pretty much everyday and mostly as survivor. Not sure whats been going on lately but the past few weeks, whether its me or another survivor, the killers have just been tunneling non stop. Might just be getting unlucky and facing very sweaty killers, but its just taking the fun out of the game. Something needs to change or people will simply stop playing this game. I cant even see how tunneling is fun from the killers perspective.
gen regress nerfed, chases can be super long, gens fly you can't even do anything much before its 1-2 left. If you have a possibility to get 1 out to the time its 1 gen left you can possibly win. In the blood point mode those blood gens are like 5-10 seconds to complete with no way of stopping it. Kicking it does nothing. Survivors just pour non stop and its done.
-
I got so many items on my main characters I've no idea why I wouldn't bring any. Kinda strange.
-
What time it goes live?
-
They should somehow revert the regress perk changes. You can't keep up with gen speeds without additional pressure of slugging sometimes.

’hooking became unfun… wasting survivor time works well’
thank you for this wonderful example of the very attitude that is ruining the game and why slugging needs addressing.not slugging needs adressing but hooking, make it fun again
-
As for me: hooking became unfun, gen regression nerfed, but wasting surv time by constantly recovering works very well. And I don't have to waste 15 second to take some1 to hook. Balancing made this bed, I would prefer more powerful gen regres perks.
-
Its terrible.
- its boring and the game has less tention than og mode
- you often queue with dude who was bored with waiting and AFKed and forgot to atltab back because the wait time is so huge.
-
Slugging playstyle helped me overcome game burnout, to be honest. All he hook perks are way to obnoxious, all the ways survs have to deny you from hooking and the time you waste to do it.

It's very possible it's a hand eye coordination issue but this literally ruins the game for me when I have a bad run with this. Have a survivor dead to rights, they spin into me or just out of my view to the left or right and I whiff and completely lose sight of them often losing 10+ meters of distance after the whiff because I literally have no earthly clue where they went.
I've tried turning my sensitivity up to 100 and it feels absolutely ridiculous. Like the slightest move of the joystick makes you turn around in a circle. Sometimes I spin with them and get lucky and hit them even though I'm basically swinging blind. The worst feeling is having a survivor down at shack when they are going for the window and have them move to the side slightly I whiff and they vault threw the window while I'm in my attack cooldown, resetting the whole shack chase. My last game I lost almost entirely from 3 or 4 whiffs that could have been downs resulting in pain res hooks.
Call it a skill issue and it very well may be but I need advice or help I'm at my whits end with this costing me games, it feels so bad outplaying someone at a loop just to be last second cheesed out of a hit because my eyes can't follow the quick movement. I'm also running into that short m1 lunge bug a lot as well which is costing me hits and downs.
Latency on tv is huge. I play both on xbox and PC and I sometimes use gamepad on PC and its much better on 1 ms lat. monitor.

Rank system was better and at very least it was fun to grind ranks.

Lightborn is my sanity saver. Leave the perk be.

so stop doing the one (1) (singular) objectives survivors HAVE to do to win the game? If youre 3 gens down in 1 chase, YOU are doing something wrong as the killer player. If youve been juiced as 3 survivors have done 3 gens together, lord knows how long youve been blasted for, if theyve done 3 gens with 1 on each one, youve been assblasted for 1minute 30 and they have been efficient with gen pressure, thats not their fault. The fact is killers tunnel not because they have to, they do it because there is zero downside and purely because they can. Something needs to be done about how rampant it is in the game but it'll never happen while BHVR are in full blown hold-the-killers-hand mode like they have been for the last year
I can rewrite exactly the same message from killers pov.
so stop doing the one (1) (singular) objectives killers HAVE to do to win the game? If youre 1 hook away from death, YOU are doing something wrong as the survivor player. If youve been juiced by failing to loop for more than 30 seconds, lord knows how long youve been blasted for, if theyve done 3 hooks with 1 surv, youve been assblasted, they have been efficient with surv pressure, thats not their fault.

The colour palette is awful. It should be tuned from red. Other than that idc much.
-
This map promotes early securing of the 3gen on one part of the map, because it takes to long to traverse to the other part. Kinda meh.
-
Of all of Autohaven Wreckers I hate only Azarov's.

Personally, I would increase penalties. But ISP malfunctions happen, so it is not that bright idea.

There is no difference between solo-q and swf on low mmr. That is why you got those numbers.
-
You gotta add "EZ" after the GG message, that is the way.
-
I like loot boxes. But I see how its bad for people who can't control their gambling addictions.
-
Its like... don't finish the gen, let me hook everybody 1-2 times before you can continue, otherwise you are a bully. Stop tunneling them gens when there is zero hooks! \o\

Same goes for light born. It would be enough to just make blinding the killer take longer, but no the flash light with its addons is useless.
Playing without LB vs 4 beamer fellows is obnoxious. Every pallet, every other pick up.. it is just awful.

In my mind VC is somewhat cheating, so I never do an SWF.

Killrates are telling different story than yours. Game looks like pretty much killer-favored.
what are the kill rates? i remember they posted something like a year or so ago

SWF is a power role here.

you know that this terminology contradicts itself?

What is hardwired into the router? Did you like melt the patchcord?

Your sense of fairness has nothing to do with reality. There are rules in this game, nobody cares about your feelings. Imagine the shitshow that will begin if people will get punished left and right because someone feels unfairness.
-
Does oppression counts as an event on all generators effected or just one that is kicked?
-
Anti gen tunneling needs some improvements too. If there more than 1 survivor or killer around the repaired gen it should pause and blow up, or just regress. If the gen is repaired with toolboxes it should be blocked on half for 30 seconds or until survivor gets 30 yards away.

Get yourself a ghostface and become toxicity incarnate yourself! Show em dat butt dance!

Map offerings themselves should not be a thing.

Agree. I think all of notification should differ a bit, like failed skill check, rushed vault or crows.

This game should have a BUNCH of dumb strategies that are really good. Buff Call Of Brine, Buff Dead Hard, Buff DS, Buff Coup De Grace even. This game isn't made to be perfectly balanced, we should have a bunch of really good strategies that can all be used.
Both sides should have overpowered tools, and they should have plenty.
When the game is new its fun. When people play it daily for 6 years and it got min-maxed to the ground -- you can't have that, imo

It was like that before? That's why BHVR added EGC, so survivors could not hostage killer in a game.
You are not adding anything to your starting point.

Nah let's remove hatch and survivor will just hide for forever. It's your business to find them.
Good luck to finish game if you can. And no, just because you killed 3 survivors game will not give you last survivor for free. So enjoy with your unfinishable game.
Hiding in that case would be a case for holding a game hostage.

Killing 3 of survivors is not the end then. You need to catch 4th. Game is not gonna give you last survivor for free. Too bad, you will need to work for it.
Try repairing the gens alone then.

Suddenly a good number of percentage of survivors die without hatch, increasing kill rate. Resulting killers in generally getting nerfed. Im up for that.
You can always count these auto deaths in statistics so its not a big deal.

There should be no end game then. If survivors finished all gens? Auto lose. You lost. It is what it is.
Completing the gens is a requirement for opening the exit door. When you get out -- its an end.
-
There should be no hatch. You are the last? Auto sacrifice. Your team lost. It is what it is.
