yeah make swf from solo q so killers will delete game with 0 % win...good job....instead of fixing swf voice comm most broken not designed thing in game you say lets make all solo q at power of voice comm cheating....nice

The devs have said many times comms are not cheating. They have even have their own official Discord encouraging survs grouping up.

Knowing they cannot prevent comms, and insisting not to limit anyone on anything, they do the only thing left, get solos closer to SWF level.

    Hello everyone!

I am here to talk about a survivor a lot of people in the community would like to see.

I am talking about the well known Elvira , mistress of Evil. I am pretty sure she can fit well in thhe fog as an icon of the horror pop culture.

I hope someone at behaviour would read that and maybe try to fullfill our dream of playing as Elvira!

The character played by Cassandra Peterson?

I don't see why it was necessary to change it to 32..

He walks really slow and has a range-limited projectile power.

If you were a dev, and it was decided to stamp out players running him as a quasi-stealth killer, plus remove the quick scoping, what changes would you do?

  • @xCakeStick said:

I feel like this is a very reasonable change, considering you changed the timing for scoping in as deathslinger, which eliminated the aspect of quick scoping.

Other killers like Huntress and Trickster have a terror radius less than 32, which is strange as they are similar to Deathslinger, but they have no range-limited projectiles like the Deathslinger does but is at a 32 meter terror radius, which makes the stealth part of Deathslinger completely worthless, as by the time you're at the survivor they've most likely ran all the way across the map to another loop, and let's not forget to mention that he has no mobility whatsoever. (I'm aware that the Huntress has a lullaby, but she can still damage you from a long distance anyway)

And because of the precise hitboxes with his redeemer, limited shots and slowdown to shoot I don't see why he has to put under a 32 meter terror radius, it just makes no sense.

Also, considering he moves at a 110% movement speed, how come the rest of the killers that move similar to that percentage only have a 24 meter terror radius? I really do think changing the terror radius is a better approach in this situation than having some lullaby added to the killer.

I would like to know everyone's opinion on this topic as well.

I thought the reasoning for the tr change was to squash his stealth completely, so survs weren't getting scewered without a little notice? Monitor & Abuse was ran so much on him back then you'd think Eruption was scarce these days by comparison.

Counter to any perk, any killer, any build.

First you need to unlock a hidden 5th perk slot.

Yes as survivor you can have 5 PERKS.

To do it just download Discord or any other voice comm . After just bring atleast 1 friend.

Congrats you won the game. now you have 5 perks.

What exactly Voice Comm SWF perk gives you??

1.) Full Map aura on killer ( ignores all stealth killer perks ) name : Hey dude he is there

2.) Free save unhook ( High chance to make ppl camp and tunnel you ) name : Hey dude he is gone

3.) Free save genrush ( Greatly impovered by Prove thyself ) name : Hey dudes killer on me genrush that gen

4.) Fast perk reading of killer build

5.) Ez counter to any meta such as Overcharge COB Eruption or PR+DMS . name : Hey dude get of gen

6.) Free hatch . name : hey dude hatch on killer house i have gift

7.) ULTRA DEAD HEARD ( just coordinate body block with Dead Heard cooldown )

8.) ultimate bully opportunity by flashlight , locker stun etc . name : Hey dude i am in that locker . or Hey dude go bully its fun

9.) Full map Hex totems location reading. name : Hey dude i saw hex its there

basicaly your SWF VOICE COMM perk gives you ALL AURA perks in game at same time without any slot in build needed.

    How to Counter Voice Comm?

take Bubba for Camping or wait 5 more years for fix ( just allow killer to choose if he waant to play vs SWF )

The extreme amount of dodging that would lead to would be insane. As no killer would willingly go against SWF they'd never get a match again.

Before you rejoice at that thought, keep in mind around half of all survs at least are in a two-man. Queue times would soar for everyone, everywhere.

This ain't the way fam. They won't remove SWF. They cannot do a bloody thing about comms either Nor will they won't impose crazy tourney limitations on perks or items etc.

So they do what they are doing, get solos more info and possibilities of coordination, so ultimately it won't matter solo or not.

Whether that is the correct approach is an entirely different thread, but that seems to be their course.

  • @Tostapane said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3306678#Comment_3306678

more than deserved imo... SWF should be available only in custom matches

Do you know what that would do to queue times? For everyone? With the current loss of players, that idea would indeed kill off this game.

And custom has no progression or BP or anything. It is what it is meant to be, practice grounds.

  • @MrMori said:

I wouldn't change anything about queues or pregame when it comes to SWF. But I would give a BP bonus to the killer based on the type of SWF (4, 2+2, 3+1), as well as show who was in a SWF on the postgame scoreboard.

This is prolly the sanest approach

  • @Omans said:

It is actually shocking that the devs haven't made this very simple change to SWF's - no stacking perks or items.

That would eliminate 4 toolboxes or 4 medkit games. There wouldn't be four of the same exhaustion perk.

I'm sure there are some other changes that could reduce the power of SWF in a fair way while also not nerfing solo queue which is in a dire state right now. Devs don't seem too bothered, though.

From their moves and changed thus far, the dev's plan seems to be to get solos more info and possibilities of coordination. And not to impose crazy tourney limitations, so players can run what they like.

  • @Batusalen said:

Ah, the old "SoloQ players are not doing as great as SWF, break the killer knees so they can overperform as well" argument. Never gets old.

If you are so much worried about SoloQ players what you should be asking is for an in-game voicechat so SoloQ players can communicate and coordinate as well as an SWF group in a Discord server. Then we can talk about changing mechanics to address how both sides are playing in the current meta, not only to basically make killers unable to counter how survivors are playing right now.

They've said several times they aren't adding VC, for varying reasons both good and bad imo.

Not sure what's going on with the servers, but you do not seem to be alone in this.

  • @Blueberry said:

Just the fact that we can all agree that 90% of killers would all dodge swf lobbies if they could should in and of itself make it blatantly obvious that there’s a serious issue needing to be addressed with swf.

I only was saying the OP's suggestion is not the way to go.

  • @MeanieDeeny said:

I understand SWF is a part of DBD that many people find fun, and won’t ever be removed from the game. However, I feel after you reach a certain MMR/kill rate/hours played..however you wanna call it, it can be really unfun to have SWF after SWF matches…

I feel that while it’s an option to play SWF, killers should also have the option to decide when/if they wanna go against SWFs.

Like maybe some kind of notification that lets you know it’s a SWF and you can accept or decline the match…or maybe a SWF/solo option, similar to being able to turn cross play on and off…?

    Thoughts?

The level of dodging that suggestion would create would be insane. No killers, including me, would ever knowingly go against SWF groups no matter the incentive.

Those groups simply would never ever get matches.

  • @DEMONANCE said:

if you can aim you can get it easily, his lethality is insane and thats his pressure without gen perks.

send yourself to a map like dead dawg or midwich and use addons that help you the most if you miss a lot use more knives addons or double movement speed while in throw mode.

and who knows maybe you won't despise him too much if you try and get better he's a ton of fun imo.

I gave up on getting this adept long long ago. I cannot get downs fast enough with his power, no matter the map or even the skill of the survs.

His inconsistent and unpredictable recoil when throwing is just a nightmare with a controller on console.

  • @SmolBlob said:

Just for clarification, Oni is meant to be hard limited to 90° when flicking in Demon Fury mode. That said, it has been bugged for years, and with high DPI, you can push it up to hilariously high amounts like 270°.

So in other words, you can go past 90° with a mouse with ridiculous settings, but cannot with a controller...

    Seems fair

  • @MaTtRoSiTy said:

It should only ever work on one survivor in the event there are only two left and the killer slugs for the 4k.

I understand the hatch mechanic is the cause but realistically I can't see this being removed and I doubt it will be.

However forcing players to potentially spend 4 minutes lying on the ground slugged is a terrible mechanic to allow to continue in your game. Of course you get those people who will come out with the usual 'it's only 4 minutes' nonsense but an entire match can pretty much be over in a minute or so more in the worst cases.

So the slugged survivor should either have the option to concede so they can be insta-sacrified to move on to their next match and let the killer and last survivor fight it out with hatch RNG, or if the killer doesn't pick up the slugged survivor in 30 seconds then basekit BT activates and they can pick themselves up.

Oh and nerf Eruption please and thank you lol

It seems part of the reasoning for the base UB is to deal with three and even all four survs slugged, ignoring why the survs got into such a fix. Your suggestion doesn't address those situations as well, so that's why I do not think they'll make your changes happen. Just my opinion though.

gens should not spawn too close to each other, but if there is no other way, the gens should at least not be easily accessible, example: on the saloon map at the "hang man gen" 3 gens always spawn when the stairs are turned in the other direction would (i.e. in the direction of the main building) then it would not be so easy for the killer to defend the gen, but since the stairs are directed on the side of the 2 gens, it is very easy to keep them with gen deff perks again and again , because the gens are also on the edge of the map

I have zero problems with a 3 gen, it's easy fix the gen as soon as the killer goes away and run away early enough to never get a hit do this over and over again with your mates (even if it takes a long time, there are always "% " on top of that), but still it's very frustrating in solo q, I'm not a fan of "voice chat", but in situations like this I'd like to instruct my mates to break the 3 gen because it's just annoying,

Hens do a well Video about that :)) I recommend it watch it

For example with plagues (the survivors are perma half life) I still had "fear mong" with me, which means that the survivors die if they make the gens because it's just on the edge of the map

This game is for better or for worse married to it's rng elements. This goes for the gates, gen layout, tile layout & proximity, map rotation, and lots more.

Both roles should look for the three-gen setup at the start of each trial, and plan accordingly. Solos are most susceptible to this obviously. A couple of maps are notorious for having them, and some of the best killers can absolutely defend them well.

Agreed. For the players, a new game with a clean, up to date foundation would be best. For BHVR, given their current size, it would absolutely bankrupt them. They could try to reach out to a major publisher, but that comes with a ton of downsides from a business sense. I don't think they're willing or able to go down that road. If they did, we would almost surely get hit with far more predatory monetization. Personally, I don't think it's worth it.

I don't know how else they could pull it off on the business side. How do you think they could do it?

I don't think they can. I do not think they'll be a DBD2, nor a recoding. All the reasons you pointed out are true and make sense.

What I think will happen is the second Microsoft and Sony end their support for last gens so will DBD. That'll likely happen just over a year from now. I pray some form of Cross Progression happens for those who would go that route.

At the moment about half of those playing on Xbox and PS are still on last gen, so it's not an insignificant number of neglected players imo.

Only Soul Guard could possibly help with that, unless it's a Nurse or Blight.

We're definitely on the same side here. I do think as more people move to next gen consoles we'll see some sort of optimization for those platforms. I just don't think they have the resources to try to do much when it comes to older consoles. They will continue to slip until they're no longer supported at all. It happens to games with every new generation.

As much as it sounds like I'm defending BHVR, I'm really not. Simply being realistic. They set themselves up for this kinda backlash because they have a terrible track record when it comes to over-promising and under-delivering. Everyones frustration with that is completely justified.

I hope they can find a solution that keeps older console versions viable for as long as possible, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

We're not just still burning about how last gen ended up being treated, but as Pulsar also said these same dang issues are showing up on the new machines as well.

Hard to have much hope for a decent optimization given their record up till now.

Besides our concerns, options like a replay mode to lessen the reporting system demands on the playerbase can only happen with a fresh coding from scratch. And those options would benefit us all regardless of platform.

  • @Canas said:

They absolutely need to stop with these visual updates, they keep making things worse for everyone who's either stuck on a console or on a low spec pc. The least they could do is add another setting which reduces the visuals to potato level. After all most of us care for the gameplay and not for the visuals. Heck, I wouldn't mind playing the equivalent of a N64 version of this game.

The devs said before that a graphics option similar to what PC has wouldn't improve frames on the consoles. The bottleneck occurs elsewhere apparently.

You're both right. The same issues will continue to creep in. That's not unusual. The DBD we have now is a significantly bigger game than the DBD that released in 2016. The problems arise because for all these years they've been building off of that original code. The foundation is trying to support more than it was originally intended to. They try to improve what they can, but those original building blocks can only stretch so far. So now they're stuck with 2 options. Keep trying to move forward with what they have or scrap everything and build a new DBD from the ground up.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love for everything to be better. But if you come to me and say "hey, to do this we need a whole new game and you gotta start from scratch (a la Destiny 2)" my response would be a resounding "nope".

That's just the nature of game development. BHVR is not big enough and doesn't have the resources to do a complete overhaul in place. The only way they could do it at this point would be to make an entirely new game and that would absolutely decimate the playerbase. As much as it sucks, I'd rather see them continue as they are.

Since collectively the consoles by far make up the largest playerbase of DBD, that approach cannot and will not work. It hasn't worked since 2018, and it is worsening as we speak. Plus lower-end PC's also struggle with the coding, despite meeting the min and recommended specs.

I realize it started out as a PC-only game, as many do. But they ported it on over to the consoles, and imo it is not unreasonable to ask for the game to run & continue to run somewhat well. If that is not possible, it should have stayed just on Steam and by now would be largely forgotten. But they did put it out for console. So around we go.

Our passionate frustration is rooted in the same place as you, our love & hope for what can be an awesome game.

  • @xfireturtlex said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3304703#Comment_3304703

They did, and they probably tried their best...but it was too optimistic. Now we're at a point where it just wouldn't make sense to follow through. I love BHVR and DBD, but at best they're barely on the high end of indie studios. You're trying to compare them to EA Dice and other major devs. EA's legal department has more people and resources than the entirety of BHVR. It's not a fair comparison.

I get it. BHVR overpromised and it feels like a let down. It feels like they're just draggin their feet cuz they want to screw you over or something, but that's not the case. They had big goals and just couldn't pull it off. I'm sure they're disappointed too. Now that ship has sailed and they gotta try to move on for the long term health of the game. They may try to get some small fixes pushed through to do as much as they can for players on older hardware, but it's not gonna be the giant overhaul you want. They can't do that and stay in business. It's too much.

The kicker is the new gen machines are slowly showing the same frame drop triggers the last gen ones did. I'm not saying they'll end up as roughly running DBD they are too powerful for that, for now.

But similar issues cropping up on the new machines is troubling.

  • @xfireturtlex said:

The older consoles just can't handle things as well. There's not much BHVR can do about that with current staffing levels. Looking towards the future, once you get on next gen things run pretty smooth. A lot of people aren't there yet, but stock is starting to show up in stores. Hope you can upgrade soon.

It is not the capabilities of the prior gen machines, it is the coding of this game that they have such trouble digesting.

  • @Pulsar is more or less our Console Crusader and leader, and can expound on this subject at length. He started the absolute biggest thread ever on this forum on this very subject.

The bottom line is this: for last gen machines they promised 60 frames across the board, and like 2+ years later thechnobabble a response saying why they cannot do it.

As for optimization, it is quite unsatisfactory on any of the platforms DBD is out on, with only the badasses of PC's having zero problems. The devs chose to handle optimization in-house (most often developers farm that work out to specialists) and not to bash them too hard on this, but the results speak for themselves.

  • And if the prior match was garbage there's a bit more incentive to keep playing

  • Haven't run a key myself in over a year, and cannot recall seeing one in the lobby on the survs in about as long.

  • @Xendritch said:

It's been this way for years. As long as there's plenty of people that only play one side I would assume it'll never end.

Sadly this is all too true. I understand many who only play as killer find playing as a surv unfun or worse, but I learned long ago playing both roles makes you much better at both roles. So becoming at least a competent surv will make you a stronger killer .

Then there's the empathy created for both sides as you learn to see many different perspectives.

  • It would give more precious info without the issues of language differences that VC brings.

  • @Batusalen said:

I mean, other games like Fortnite have cross progression on all platforms, meaning if I log in any of the consoles version I would have all my progress and cosmetics I had in my account on PC and it is a F2P game. Taking in count the game already has crossplay I don't see any reason of why it shouldn't have cross progression unless BHVR managed the accounts for different platforms separately and unifying them would need an infrastructure rework (and that is like rebuilding a house from the ground up). That, or they use it as an excuse so you would have to buy the same DLC 3 times for 3 different platforms.

But seeing that the forum now lies on the BHVR page instead of a dedicated DbD, I think they are already working on doing that (unifying their accounts systems). It won't be a surprise that sooner or later you would need a BHVR account instead of an specific DbD account so they can save your progress on all platforms and such... I just won't expect it soon, tho.

I believe Fortnite, as with most other games, had Cross Progression deals in place when they were released to a platform. But DBD was just on Steam in the beginning, and it's success later allowed them to port it on over to the consoles, sadly with no Cross Progression in place. Much harder to negotiate deals later, ones that both Sony and Microsoft would agree to.

You’re not wrong. But still, I stand by my post. They need to fix the coding so that they can fix the fog. As it stands, “see you in the fog” should be “see your ankle in the dust mote”.

Prolly in DBD2, should that ever be made. Just like any new game modes and replay abilities I would imagine. All that most likely needs to be coded from scratch, and cannot be piled onto the spaghetti 🍝

With matchmaking incentives disabled after the past update months back, it takes a really long time to get a game with cross-play off on playstation. It was searching for a game for 2 hours on a weekend. Now, the only options is turning on cross-play and it is easy to get games started, but ######### the hacking is just rampant! Most the time I can tell they are just subtle hackers and then on occasion the hacker that goes full bore and wants you to know. This is the same reason I left PC gaming (counter-striker) and went to console years ago. There will always be hackers on PC. So now behavior had to gut us console users too by forcing us to play with PC counterparts. What is the point in playing anymore if you are always suspecting if someone is a cheater or not? At least when I lost against playstation players I could tell they are not cheating and won fairly. Anymore, you just don't know. This is one of my favorite games, but I am going to have to part ways unless something improves. This is like counter-strke and console players shouldn't be forced to play with PC players in order to get a match.

While I too would like a console-only mix, it won't happen. The whole point of Crossplay was to combine the playerbase together and keep you t together.

And hackers/cheaters do find their way into console matches, even through Crossplay being off. So the separation wouldn't help with that at all, sadly.

SWF destroys the balance of the game. You can easily see that in tournaments that survivors, no matter how good the killer is (even with nurse and meta perks), that SWF always win.

Ban SWF. It was never intented for the game to be a 4 man group and coordinated party to dominate for so long.

As others have said, removing SWF would indeed kill off this game.

Someone was kind enough to post the last stats breaking down SWF numbers from back in 2019. At that time about half of all players were win at least a two-man group, with trios and quads far far less common.

Since then, with solo queue just so delightful for so long a time, it's reasonable to assume the numbers of solos must have dropped as they form SWF just to survive, pun intended. I suggest asking the devs for updated numbers to be sure, though.

If you are a killer wayyyyy up at that mythical high MMR area, you bet you will get the sweat SWF who are at that level as well. That means the matchmaking is working as intended, putting the sweats with the sweats etc. However both groups make up such a miniscule portion of the overall playerbase that their stats have to be discarded, same a newbies with 10 hours total.

Look, I also dislike getting destroyed by a lethal coordinated SWF, and I do remember those trials, but as I'm a lousy killer (and an ok surv) they are very few and far between.

They aren't going to ban SWF, nor impose crazy tourney limitations on perks, items, add-ons, etc. And they cannot do squat about comms. So they do what they have been doing, slowly bit by bit providing solos with the possibility of coordination and info, with the goal of it not really mattering if they play solo or groups.

Whether that's even possible or not is another thread entirely my friend.

It used to at least show you another player as 'blocked' so you could dodge lobbies with them, but now not even that works anymore...

I believe it only blocks comms, and not matchmaking. If it did that too it would be abused heavily, with Nurses or Blights or any excellent killer not getting a match, not to mention known SWF groups.

I'd like status icons and baseline Kindred. Proximity chat isn't necessarily going to make players better or change their playstyles. If they added a ranked mode, then yeah, I'd like chat. But it wouldn't be overly helpful otherwise.

If base Kindred did not show the killer's aura just the survs I'd be ok with that. Then the perk itself could show the killer out to whatever range.

I can't see them ever adding VC though. Besides the language issues and abuse concerns, both valid, I bet they want no part of policing & moderating that as well.

If I remember correctly, this was a thing before, you could see other survivors ping in the pre-trial lobby, and if they're playing from Mars or not. Why get rid of it? That's my first thought, my second is show the killers ping pre-trial. What's the point of showing me that in the game, oh he's playing on the local McDonalds wifi, time to get hit from 3 miles away and not be able to do literally anything against it! I get lobby dodging is a thing and people don't want that to happen, but considering it ruins the match for 4 other people in a way they can do nothing about and have no control over, it seems only right that a 500 ping Weskie get dodged harder than old dead hard

The only reasoning I can think of for not showing pings pretrial would be to discourage lobby dodging, in order to aid in queue times.

No way that's worth it imo.

Why are we getting so much? What happened.

The last chapter was quite the fiasco to many, in particular our PlayStation cousins. On PS for weeks their cursor was often unresponsive, meaning they could not play.

Y'all really need to try out console DBD more often.
