Yeah, it's cool to have the system, but banning people for being extremely bad isn't something great
Especially new players will be hit by the new system. They should not have added it with a new chapter.

Today when I launched DBD i got a message telling me that I was banned until 2035 because I apparently "cheated", I would like to know if this only happened to me or if other people are in the same situation?
I just read something about people getting falsely banned for 10 years since the update. All of them have a duplicate of the achievement "Awakened Anger". So check your achievements if you are one of those with bugged trophies.
If that's the case, contact support and show them a screenshot.

there are already many cases of people banned for cheating when they didn't do anything that could be considered like that and then unbanned due to mistake on BHVR part
There were also some false bans which hit small streamers, because there was one blatant cheater who streamed while cheating, using the overlay of small streamers to blame them instead.
-
Appeal the ban. If you didn't cheat, it might resolve itself. If you did cheat, then it serves you right.
-
You still get shards with xp, which is 10/500xp. This results in 10% of a level. Same as before.

I am pretty sure this is just the perk getting fixed to be in line with how it is on PlayStation: just perform said action once.
The wording in the achievement on Steam seems to imply this too, but somehow it still got the 0/30 progress bar. So now that it's (presumably) 0/1 you got the achievement automatically if you had some progress towards it.The thing was, that apparently some people got banned because of this? Take it with a grain of salt though.

First of all, I really, REALLY hate the new colors they did for the normal 5 tiers. They are confusing for both old AND new players (because people will still use the term yellow medkit and everyone will get confused), they are ANTI-ACCESIBILITY (worse for colorblind people), and completely unnecessary, given they were changed to "make the game more like other games". Why? Why do the Devs want this game to be as devoid of personality as possible? Don't fix what's not broken.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/C4GP7VKNDD9C/sn-c3-admka-obrazovky-2025-05-06-175351.png
On top of that, they removed the Event rarity, so now Event items are ULTRA RARE! And they cost 5000 BP now! These mostly useless offerings that majority of people ignores, now cost as much as an Iri add-on. That is unacceptable.
Next up, the Rift. It was made way uglier now, with small icons that you need a microscope to see well, and the "BUY PREMIUM!" button slapped in the middle. It looks like a cheap mobile free-to-play game.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/CC934QUBXS6U/sn-c3-admka-obrazovky-2025-05-06-175318.png
Another thing is, unless I miscounted, the premium track no longer gives you back a 1000 Auric Cells, but only 975. Again, why?
Next up, the Quests. One word, GENERIC. The name is generic (it should be Rituals), the look is boring and generic, the challenges themselves are all really boring, and they want to also retire the Compendium on top of that? My opinion is, no, keep the old Tomes. And maybe add some more unique challenges into the new system too.
And finally, we come to the fact that the Rift was made unbelievably grindy, with the Daily Rituals giving you NOTHING. Barely any bloodpoints (even though the ones before gave you at LEAST 30000 for each one), not enough Rift Fragments for A SINGLE TIER. It's also yet another FOMO feature, since someone found out you have to do almost 40 days worth of the Daily Challenges alongside everything else to get to Tier 100. And that's not even mentioning the Weekly Rift Challenges (in a case they disappear too, I'm not sure of that tbh).
Overall, this update was yet another shove towards DbD becoming a joke of a game, like Fortnite, which the Devs seem to aspire to become for some reason.
The pass gives back 1000. I checked it, because I was unsure.
-
Maybe you only get them when leveling up, similar to shards? Or else how would I have more tiers than I should have?
-
@Xyphus said:
I assume this is a bug. When you hover over the Rift Fragment symbol it clearly says that they are earned by gaining XP as well as completing quests
But it could also be that they forgot to change the tool tip.
Or they changed it in a way that you only get fragments if you level up, similar to shards.
-
@vol4r I think we still do, because when I checked my level and compared it with the amount I got through quests it didn't add up
-
@Emeal said:
It seems at later levels the Rift Fragments Rewards are bigger? so how do you know that we are being snubbed for Rift Fragments? Also we now get Rift Fragments on dailies which is way more than we can get on a single day via xp.
Seems to me, infact the game is geared towards playing way less than normally, since you can gain an entire nights XP in Rift Fragments from 1 day of dailies.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/ULY5CLICHHNK/image.png
I am not saying you are wrong to be skeptical of BHVR, but I'm seeing some errors in your math here already, so thats a problem.
If you calculate everything you will get exactly to level 101 (and a bit on top). Why would they add an infinite tier if you don't get fragments for playing?
-
I think you still get fragments by playing because when I checked my progress yesterday it didn't add up.
-
I just had someone abuse this.
-
Killers will tunnel you regardless of you stunning them or not. You just perceive it that way, because we like to remember negative experiences more.
Also killers who want to justify them tunneling will find ANY excuse, be it "you did XYZ", "you used perk XYZ", "didn't do XYZ" or because they just can.
-
There is only one thing that needs a fix, and that's his hitbox. If I am standing behind a wall when he leaps towards me, then his attack should miss.

- It is still enough for people to slug for the 4k but mostly it's for the hatch.
- BHVR's stats are completely useless and it doesn't tell the whole story, it's across all MMR and we have no idea how exactly that data is collected and is mostly used a tool by BHVR to paint the narrative. Their latest stats on the killrates was a joke.
- Killers hooking survivor gives them We'll Make It, Borrowed Time, 10 second haste, 10 second endurance, Dead Hard, Aftercare, Blood Rush, Breakdown, Aftercare, Breakdown, Fast track, Decisive Strike, Babysitter, Renewal, Resurgence, Guardian, Deliverance, Kindred, Kinship, Boil over, Off The Record, Reassurance Background player, Breakout and not only that but carrying a survivor reduces your movement speed making kilers more susceptible to sabo plays and flashlight saves. A lot of content creators have made videos about slugging these last few months including Otz who was part of an experiment which only included slugging and not hooking and they got better results when they slugged instead of hooking survivors. Decisive Strike is still one of the best anti-tunnel perks that survivors have even after all the nerfs it has received over the years, the only perk that i would say is better is Babysitter but you rarely see that perk in solo queue because it doesn't benefit the perk user and you have no idea of knowing if your teammates have it or not.
TL;DR of the problem here is that killers players have essentially realized that they can circumvent anti-tunnel and hook related survivor perks if they don't hook survivors because a lot of these activate when you hook survivors. BHVR has chosen to adress tunneling not as mechanic in the game but with perks so killer players have found away around said perks.
And again one can think that content creators are the source of evil in this game....
I don't have anything against Otz and Hens, they are amazing, but with experiments like this, they make playing unbearable for everyone else.

I recently had a Blight in Chaos Mode trap me in a corner for 4min, just so I would not be able to 4% and maybe find hatch.
I thought of DCing, but I did not want to give that player any satisfaction. So I sat it out.
Sadly this bs behavior is not bannable. I know other games where you would get a temp ban for stuff like this.
There needs to be a way to "give up" in these scenarios. If they want to up their ego, by doing this, fine. But I don't want to be part of it. Idk, maybe you loose some % of your BP, but pls remove the DC penalty if there is only one survivor standing (this would help with mass slugging in general). Then, the killer can up their ego by humping, trapping or slugging a bot.
-
Me and my friend, just talking about random ######### while the killer chases one of us...

OK then maybe the killer should not be able to mind game around loops by hiding his red light as well. That seems unfair, because highly skilled killers exploit this on loops a survivor cannot see over, so they will be caught either way. /s

Are you asking for hackers being unable to see your names even with anon mode on? Or what do you mean.
You physically cannot look up a player s profile if they have anon mode on.
If you hide the names yourself, then why are you checking their names anyways? Are you unable to control your urge to see other players' names and profiles?

I remember having weird dreams after I played Skyrim for the first time and got hooked for 8hrs.

I had a similar situation as you but with Blood Warden as a cherry on top.
I also looped the killer pretty long and after all gens are completed, I run injured, with the killer still behind me, to a gate which is 99ed (the other one was far away and half way done). A Claudette just waits in front of the switch and doesn't tank a hit, doesn't move or opens the gate when she sees me with the killer coming. I get downed, then she opens the gate, we get Blood Warden and a 0k becomes a 4k.
That Claudette said in chat that she didn't open the gate because I "did not do enough gens".

Fair point ill take the 4 gen slow down, with how many ways survivors have to go through gens fast I will say as a survivor main those who complain about it needs a reality check, specially if they know how to loop then the killer gets 0 value of the gen perks.
For me so far simply using hand holding weave attune with franklins, knock out and rapid brutality perk is crazy. Cherry on top is when I have someone kamikaze on hook or hear the famous boing button cause they dont want to play vs this build
Even the strongest tiles and windows is nothing by using this combo cause survivors just hug me alot thinking oh they won the mind game and I scored 3 to 4ks vs when I try to use 4 slowdown ill get 0 to 1k in most games, it shows me just how much more aura reading is can be dangerous. Trickster/wesker are my two killers.
Focusing a build solely on one type of perks can affect you badly. I use 4 aura perks on Huntress, but if I am not careful or get a bad map, I get genrushed. I usually enjoy an allround build which gives me value no matter what. Do I always win? Hell no! Is it less stale? Certainly.
Also WA+Franklin's is strong, yes, but many survivors just don't know how to deal with it. Just test for WA at the start of the match and if it's active, hide your item at the end of the map. And don't stay in the circle if you are injured or dead on hook. I see so many people just getting healed in the AOE. Unless you use Object. Then placing the item next to the Gen or right inside shack is god-like.

More like stop nerfing and taking away everything from survivors which encourage the rat behavior and stop giving killers free info via all these aura read crutches and add ons and even without distortion and sole survivor people still hide and am sure there still be 50million complaints on hiding, dc, giving up.
You guys are the cause of this, you get what you ask for and do not be shocked if soon all killer aura and add ons is on the chop block.
I play both sides.
It seems to me that survivors should make up their mind if they want to complain about gen slowdown or aura perks being stacked.

Realistically with 15 seconds distortion is a buff to players that are already good at the game and strong in a chase, even allowing for tokens to be regained against killers with low terror radius's.
But that's only on paper. The perk itself is now fundamentally a different perk. With 15 seconds it would be more like a disengagement perk for killers that get aura during chase. Its still rather pointless for stealth gameplay and you'll find that rat gamers will probably become even more useless now or start running perks like sole survivor or object and just continuously hide in lockers non stop and seriously just start waiting out the game until everyone else was dead. Before with distortion rat's would at least have the courage to do gens and get objectives done. Now all they'll be is a burden good to no one but themselves.
This distortion buff/nerf is ineffective at achieving any sort of goal at eliminating rat behavior. But 15 seconds is still not yet a thing so as it stands now it's still just a hard nerf. Regardless of the buff or nerf version though, the perk is now useless to 80 percent of the player base that used it shifting them into an even more useless version of themselves.
Against these kind of rats I can use perks who show positions like Rancor or killers with killer instinct. Lockers don't block these.
Also if I notice that there is someone hiding all the time, I can look for them. They usually depend on their perks.
The real rats already use Sole Survivor and Left Behind to get hatch or the gate.
And usually other survivors are always happy to "help" in finding them.
Tbh the real solution for the rat problem is to make MMR team play based. This way all the rats can rat together.

Adjusting and eliminating are two different things. If dbd just suddenly got rid of the chasing aspect of the game would you just tell players well tough. Just adjust. People can and will adapt without your blessing. But when a gameplay just completely changes at that point they'll just leave because the game's no longer something they enjoy. The current distortion's not just an adjustment, but a fundamental change in the direction they are moving the game.
They are buffing it to 15s for token recharge. That is more than fine.
I understand your point, but I think that Distortion was way too powerful, to a point it became unhealthy for the game. People got passively tunneled because the killer could not find the Distortion player(s). Killers also gravitate more towards Gen defense because of Distortion blocking everything unless you Wenn full-on aura reading.
Steslth is fine if it doesn't overwhelm the other players (like everything else). Maybe thank the Rat players (those who just stealth and never interact with the killer and will let you die for hatch) for this nerf.

One just wants to point out what is wrong with the game. It is perhaps difficult to understand that one wants to enjoy the game!
But it doesn't work if the Killer side is on a higher level than the Survivor side. Then the game loses its meaning.
If you don't understand it and prefer to support the prevailing party, then please don't write. Thank you for your understanding.Have you ever watched people play on medium or higher levels? Survivors usually have the upper hand in most cases.
It is normal that killers are overwhelming for new players and they often think they are op, but they really aren't. Maybe you should play some killer for a while so that you see that after 20 wins with the same killer you will get much harder matches.
If it comforts you, 6 years ago I also thought that Doc is op, because you could not hide against him (back then he was even more annoying lol) and that it was unfair that killers are faster. But I quickly leant (because I also played killer) that the extra speed is necessary because a) the killer has a larger hitbox and therefore can't loop as efficient as a survivor can (Videos on YT can show that well) and b) they would take forever to get you. If you want to see or experience how tiring it is to chase survivors when you are barely faster, watch a video with a Mirror Myers (Myers with Scratched mirror makes him 105% instead of 115%) or look up any video of someone using Hope and Made For This from about a year ago (both perks together made you about 110% or something).

Why is not a good thing to get tokens while repairing?
Always the same arguments like: "hiding in the corner forever" and so on… -.-
I'm doing my objective and help the team to escape, or do I need to force getting chased?
If the killer is not there to defense the gens why is it my problem?I'm playing for a long time with distortion, and I was almost everytime the first one that got chased, and if a survivor chooses to play stealth they just continue doing it without the perk 🤷♂️
The killer still have eyes to see survivors, and if they need to rely on so many aura perks, why is the only good counter for survivors only for chasing. I don't understand it 🤷♂️ Is it unfair to get it back while you are doing your objective and NOT hide in the corner like you said?!
The main issue with Distortion was that having one or 2 people use it in a team often caused the other 2 teammates to get chased very frequently even if the killer did not intend on "tunneling them out". You had 2 people on death hook while the Distortion users had 0 hooks.
I have friends who use the perk regularly, and what I described happened in the majority of my matches. Even though they are not always hiding. They are just more a "support" (mainly altruism and gens).
When I was using Distortion, my matches would be the same. I would never be chased unless I got found somehow, even though I am quite good in chase. I had to actively try to get chased to not just hold M1...

Off the record's a great perk, but far from an aura counter perk. A great perk but the usage of its aura hiding ability is minimal at best and nobody looks at that perk for its ability to hide aura. Once off the record hits blood trails are massively noticeable and you're already marked by the killer. Hiding aura at that point isn't super necessary but a welcomed bonus. Its purpose is to prevent getting overly focused on killers and increase your chasing potential.
If you actually read my post I specifically mentioned object of obsession, but if you think that's a counter you're also kidding yourself. That perk benefits the killer more then you most of the time and the intention of desired playstyle behind it is completely opposite to distortion. No person who wants to stealth would ever even consider using it, but sure lets buff killers with our own perks. Objects the kind of perk I use when I want the killer to notice me and just have fun getting chased; not to win.
Everything besides number 3 I already mentioned, and even said that lockers are just gonna be used even more often. So that's what you want now? Instead of all your distortion rats hiding in a corner they'll just be in a locker being an even bigger burden on the team.
You are not just gonna alter the way people want to play just because you dont like it, you'll only turn those same people you hate so much into bigger burdens and turn the game into an instant 3v1.
I am not using OTR to mainly block auras, but as an anti-tunnel-perk as intended. It's aura hinding effect is a nice bonus for me as I love to play with Object and have been for 3 years. Because the killer expects you to be revealed through Object, you actually get a breather which you can use to heal/get healed or relocate.
True Object is not a simple perk and it can betray you if you don't want it to (sometimes I think NOT being the obsession is more beneficial), but for me it is immensely powerful to counter aura addons and perks through mind games or the lack of.
The real problem with stealth is that sadly many people only stealth "because they are not good in chase" or because they are just rats. Instead of learning, they just stay in their comfort zone. Distortion was a passive contribute to other people getting tunneled. That was the problem. The game has enough stealth options. And most people should know that this game is not about hiding anymore like it was when I started to play. It's a lot more fast paced. No more bushes who could keep you hostage forever.
I have a friend who plays more "careful" and more of a support role. She is OK in chase even if she doesn't think that way. She is not happy about the change either but she understands that some people took it too far and that something had to be done.

Some people just cry now because their favourite crutch is broken instead of learning new ways to deal with it.
I have over 7k hrs and have been playing for 6 years. This is not the first time people had to adapt due to a perk being nerfed. DS, Spine Chill, Self Care, Iron Will, DH are just a few examples.

Yes I’ve also played killer a lot and I run no perks and usually kill 3 or 4 survivors every match. It’s too easy as killer tbh
What is "a lot"? Are you playing different killers or only one or two? If you continue getting 3 or 4k your MMR will rise and soon you will get more experienced survivors you play against. If you make longer breaks, your MMR drops a bit.
If you play killer regularly like me, you will notice that at one point it gets harder to win.
Btw: It is normal that at low MMR killers are stronger than average, because they are balanced for the majority of players who play somewhere in the middle. I am sorry to say it, but if killer is still so easy after 2 years of playing, you are not playing enough killer.

even at 3 its almost the same winrateI know the stats. The Devs want 60% kill rate btw.
We don't know how the stats were actually collected. Did they omit matches where survivors gave up on hook? Did they omit matches with afk players? Did they take into account that MMR might not have paired the players fairly? Did they take into account a sweaty player going against casuals or meme players? Did they take perks into account? A Blight with all slowdown and his best addons is more likely to win than a casual Blight, doing their daily.

It's a chase utility perk now, not a "hide all game and never interact with the killer perk", which was horrifically unhealthy for the game. You have to take chase now, and interact with the killer like you're supposed too for the team.

-
Have you ever played killer more than a handful of matches?
"I have been playing for 2 years" says nothing about your skill and experience. You could have played the game once a month or every day for several hours.
I will just make it brief. I have been playing both sides for 6 years, almost every day with over 7.4k hrs combined and I can tell you, that killers are definitely not overpowered on a medium or higher skill level.

The nerf to distortion is rather wild in my opinion. If you were going to nerf it this much you should have just gotten rid of the the ability to hide aura away completely and just made it so distortion tells you whenever the killers see's your aura. You say that distortion counters to many perks and add ons; but its the only counter to so many perks and add ons. You might as well just tell survivors to use object of obsession every game because the amount of aura perks in this game is already ridiculous. If someone wanted to not be seen the whole game they'll just hide in a locker and wait for everyone else to die. If a killer used both zanshin tactics and predator, you'd literally never have a stack of distortion.
- Off the Record also hides your aura
- Lockers exist
- You can hide behind gens
- Object has been a valid alternative to Distortion for a long time, but most people chose to be hidden and be a bush, because it was easier than learning how to loop properly
-
Maybe it's more common because people want to try it out?
I haven't seen it being used once so far because killers crush most survivors because the Distortion crutches were taken off

Always? The Game is one of the hardest maps to patrol the Exit Gates. That isn't relevant anyway. It's because the Hatch always spawns in the lower level, so reaching the exit gate after closing hatch takes a long time.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3814939#Comment_3814939
Would make no difference. The killer just has to look around while standing on the hatch and close it when they see the survivor.
Depends on where it is and how well you can get to stairs. GoJ cinema map is still worse if the exits spawn at the cinema and the statue. There is no way you can check the cinema exit from afar, so you always have to go around. If you make the wrong decision after you close hatch, the survivor is out.
Your idea would make it a nightmare to get out after hatch has been closed on maps who infamously spawn exits close together (e.g. Azarov's, DnD map, Midwich). On maps like these you basically NEED to stand at the exit and hope the hatch was far away and have the killer check the other gate first. If you don't get it during that time, even using the red light tech, you are not getting out unless you brought Sole Survivor or Wake Up maybe.

I can also say something similar: "Yall are so lazy. Yall don't know how to properly hide in lockers anymore like old days."
Because that is exactly what you did back in the old days. True there was not really anything besides BBQ and Nurse's that was used (and the occasional Bitter Murmur), before more got added.
Today you need to play around it. And the solution is to position yourself properly, loop for as long as you can and do gens.

Why is it useless?
I really want to try it with Finesse and probably Lithe, or Dramaturgy (might be too much). Just try to stay healthy for as long as possible.
I might use it basically instead of Bond for soloQ.I am trying it with Object now but I haven't been lucky with the Killers so far. I get many Legions, Tricksters or other killers who get fast hits and without sprint burst to give you a head start, it get's really difficult to stay healthy. Woo is basically a must have.
