I just quote myself:
"And if Keys allow multiple Survivors to escape, it is basically Endgame - this means, the Killer had a game, unlike a Survivor who got morid first Hook. From that perspective, they are indeed less problematic."
This does apply to hard tunneling and facecamping as well. The worst thing that can happen to a Killer is that they have people escape after almost playing a full game - Survivors can just be on their first hook and dead soon after (either by facecamped, old Moris or simply tunneled out of the game).
But I know, completely unreasonable to think so. :^)
I think we'll have to agree to disagree. Both moris and keys end a game prematurely without the win condition being met. Yes killers get an emdgame (sometimes) if the team are scummy enough to leave a man behind (which usually they are) but a lot of perks come into game late game for killer, when only 1 or 2 gens are left. So I will reiterate that both moris and keys prematurely end the game without the win condition being met. And as I said we'll agree to disagree;
I can tell that nothing i can say will change your mind and so far nothing you have said has even remotely changed mine

He is the only killer in the game with the ability to down everyone in 1 hit with 1 use of his power since he can make it last for a very long time. (I'm not counting ghostface or Myers because their ability is more than just the instadown aspect.) It is beyond strange that he has this ability yet people like billy have to stop after downing 1 person. Make his chainsaw stop after it downs 1 person, it would make the game much healthier and stop Cannibal players from being able to easily end a game in 5 minutes.
Or stop hookbombing, hanging round a hooked survivor, staying bunched together with other survivors, going for saves if he's face camping etc etc. There are counters to his play. Spread out and his level of danger is drastically reduced. If he's facecamping don't be a total hero. In essence dont feed him

Actually, if they bring a key into the game knowing that it’ll likely cause them to be tunneled, and they still manage to live long enough to use it, then sorry but that’s a victory in my book.
Then we'll agree to disagree

Dude I hate to be that guy but, it speaks more about the map that it is still common to see DC's on Midwich.
This means that people would rather eat the 5 minutes then play the 15 minute game to it's conclusion on that map, And this is really the only map it happens on.
I personally will contemplate it as I haven't had fun on that map once (either side) and if a map offering is seen you know I'm force closing DBD before loading.
This thread is really just an indictment on Midwich and it's poor design more then anything.
But as I said if you kept DC'ing how would you get better at it? It's like anything in life, any game you can only get better at it by playing it. Running away from it isn't going to help ans as I sajd it ruins it for everyone else. And that 5 minute penalty multiplies if it happens multiple times in a day. Midwich is amazing for most killers, its unbalanced in their favour and please bear in mind I'm a killer main and I'm saying this.
Chasing someone down a narrow corridor as bubba = chainsaw
M1 killer - very few safe pallets
M1 killer - very few windows. With pallets broken a lot of dead zones
Corridors and rooms - bounce for blight
Double floor - doctors shock will get you
Pyramid Head - King on this map
Freddy - try dodging his snares when asleep the map is so narrow
Spirit- tracks easy to follow
Clown- again narrow map easy bottle throws
Etc etc etc
And yes some killers struggle but most excel.
I think it speaks more about the attitude and desire to improve of those who DC rather than the map itself.
-
Justification for each?

Map was a big reason to DC before the penalty was introduced because why are you going to play on a map that is more like pulling teeth then you know... FUN.
Also Midwich just isn't fun to play on either side. it's got the worst of The Game and Hawkins combined for a of a miasma of boring.
Introducing DC penalty was good as well for this. As I said if they don't like the fact they get a map they don't like them stop playing the game its obviously not for them. Its unbalanced for survivor but how are you supposed to get better? Play on Haddonfield or Coldwind every time because they favour survivors?
And as I previously said they are ruining other peoples fun as well.
Honestly of people get so easily triggered by a map then they really shouldn't play

The BP is an excuse. The auras are too much information and on a killer like Freddy that can teleport to the gen being worked on and stop it, remove objective progress, it is too strong for a perk. About the time he hooks that person, he can teleport again. Same for the other killers too. An Oni that is so versatile with his power movement can hook someone and go across the entire map within a couple of seconds and down someone he saw working on the objective. No survivor perk has so many advantages. If they do, they either have too many downsides or too situational to ever be used. BBQ has no downsides, just play the game normally to reap in a lot of benefits.
Almost 8 pages. You are now one wlth the dark side of the bait

I love how survivors cry about bbq and chili being op. The MAIN reason why killers run this perk is for bonus BP. We really don't care about the aura reading and it can be easily be countered by hiding in a locker. Duh??

It's not fun for either side.
Though with how little Midwich shows up this shouldn't happen very often.
I still remember loading into Midwich before the DC penalty was reinstated and it was almost always a DC speedrun.
If im being really honest, it's killer sided and as a lot of Killers it's a great map. Lots of unsafe pallets, long narrow corridors ,breakable walls that are more optimal if not broken, PH doctor bubba wraith and plenty more really benefit from this.
Some people DC due to certain killers. To do it because of a map???
People like that shouldnt play the game. Apart from anything else they ruin it for others and as I said to DC for a map is pathetic

Why do some survivors (usually swf) like to proclaim victory if they get the pity hatch? If hatch spawns and there are still gens that's a loss whether you get hatch or not you still got outplayed and the game gave a pity mechanic.
I get so many people who get the hatch and proceed to boast of winning or mocking me, you only escape because I'm too lazy to play tag for 4k.
I couldn't agree more. The only thing more pathetic is a survivor bringing a key with them and escapimg and proclaiming victory. Shows how much faith they have in their own ability of the can't handle doing 5 gens

Keys are getting nerfed. And really, why do you care about something which was out of your control anyway? No point in ranting about it.
Ehm I think @OGlilSPOOK20 is quite right to rant about it because its an unfair win condition. They didn't meet the 5 gen requirements but still got a free escape.
'No point ranting about it'
Facecamping, hard tunneling, Moris are outwith control for survivors, doesn't stop them ranting about it??? The only thing worse than survivor finding a key and escaping is a survivor actually bringing a key to escape. Unless doing a challenge it says a lot about their lack of faith in their ability to do 5 gens and escape

Because 3 survivors DC as soon as the camera stopped spinning on Midwich. I'm a red rank survivor, is Midwich really THAT bad for green/yellow survivors that have played enough to have full purple load out of various teachable perks? I'd understand it being scary for a new player but not veteran. They didn't even wait to see who they were playing against, if they had they would've seen it was a terrible Nurse just trying to get a blink daily done and it would've been easy match to escape. 😂

Tunneling? Yes - necessary if a stupid amount of gens go quickly
Proxy camping? Maybe depending on situation
Facecamping? No or very very rarely

It's funny, I literally came onto this forum just now as I wanted to make a thread about why I was just reminded why Killer isn't fun. Seeing as someone else made a thread, I'll just vent here.
I was playing Blight on suffocation pit, the survivors seemed decent enough, I had to slug a little, for my first hook I stayed in the area since I had a slug there, and saw scratch marks, so someone was nearby. I also re-hooked a Jake at one point because he was unhooked and his rescuer did not make themselves known to me.
Anyway, it got to 1 gen left and I killed the Jake, hooked another person. Then 2 survivors who looted a key left.
Not wanting an argument I just said "gg" and "nerf keys". The guy said "it's fair because we did 4 gens".
I said not at all, because they had 3-genned themselves so there was no way I wasn't getting a 3/4k at this point. At this point one of them said "well we wouldn't play" (that's survivor logic for you there, we will just give up and therefore its void?).
Then the guy started saying "you camped the first hook" (I literally saw scratch marks, I would have took my 2nd hook and went to another gen). Then he starts saying I was slugging. I said slugging is necessary to win as a Killer, and he said "NO LOL". At this point I just withdrew my GG and moved on.
It just annoyed me though that not only these survivors thought the key escape was fair, but they then go and criticize my tactics I used?
At this point I just went and played Bubba and camped 2 people to death and got a 4k on Lerys, after a while you get sick of being accused of things so you just do them, why not, you get moaned at anyway.
Wow, big rant. Sorry.
I feel your pain!!!

@VikingWilson said:
Turn your back and a generator is done. Slug someone and a generator is done. Play "fair" and generators (plural) are done.
When you play well, you're called trash. When you don't play well, you're called trash. When you play "fair," you're called trash.
It's entirely discouraging. Frankly, of all the times I've stopped playing, it was because of the killer role and survivor toxicity.
Don't Forget the devs keep removing our tools. Remember the ruin change? Why was that so annoying - because their reasons for changing it were so survivor sided;
-Unfun to play against
-New survivors struggle
-80% of red rank use it (and I wonder why that would be???)
So then we get ruin/undying. In order to play that properly/ efficiency facecamping and to a certain extent tunneling was a no no - survivors don't like it so guess what??? It gets nerfed. Since then I've been a considerably less nice killer- if 3 gens go instantly yes I will tunnel to get someone out the game ASAP do I like doing it ? No. But if it gives me a chance to win I will.
Undying nerfed practically happened instantly. And yet keys haven't even been touched yet (mori's have though).
I play killer a lot less than I used to. Funnily enough when I do play koller though I get a game instantly...

@Sluzzy said:
It doesn't take long to notice the elephant of all perks on either side: BBQ. A pay-to-win perk on a licensed DLC. Used on every killer for the tremendous advantage and value. This perk is literally spammed in every game. It should be a HEX perk or nerfed to lose the aura reading.
BBQ was released when survivors were much stronger along with maps. Maps were also easier to hide. Survivor perks are always nerfed only when considered being used on a good SWF. The same logic and fair balancing should apply to killers. To beat a good killer you must work on gens for every second possible. You cannot spend your entire match looking and hiding in lockers because the killer will have a huge upper hand as this is the only counterplay provided to stop the aura. He most likely has Ruin so the gen is losing progress when you leave it. Too much advantage for a perk.
There is another reason why being a HEX would be an excellent change to BBQ. A killer that camps can still be awarded BBQ stacks if he uses NOED or when saves occur. He is awarded for the thing the perk was originally designed to prevent in the first place! If the perk is a HEX perk the killer will be in a race to hook as many different survivors as possible before the totem is destroyed. This will create pressure on the killer to guard totems, gens, and hook survivors in the process instead of camping and being awarded for it with a perk.
If it is not a HEX perk it needs to lose the aura reading because it gives too much value for one perk alone. This perk has been overpowered and abused by high mobility killers way too long.
Why are people biting? This is so obviously bait 😄 🤣

The idea sounds interesting, but I might have some concerns:
1-At the moment killers tend to search and find the weakest link in the group to focus, remove, and make the match a 3v1. How would the change solve the issue with a killer focusing on the weakest player to eat the most amount of team hooks?
2-How do you think a team composed of the average DBD players with a shared hook resource pool would address an inexperienced team member dipping too much into that communal resource?
3-How do you think the average first hook suicidal teammates would dip into that resource while trying to leave the game?
I appreciate the effort you've put into this and it's good to have people think outside the box. However the main concern i have is this is very very survivor sided. So what about the killer? Do you know how hard it can be to get 8 hook states at red rank? So now I have to get 8 until someone dies? What about ridiculous gen rushing? Even at a 3v1 survivors can still be optimal but now it's 8 hooks until any death? What about the sweaty 4 man SWF they already break the game is this gonna make it fair?
As I said i appreciate the effort and im not trying to be confrontational but please answer me this;
What's the incentive for me to play killer?
The love of the game- it comes and goes. And of late I'm getting impatient with the constant sweaty SWF
Balance- very survivor sided as is and nerfs to gen rush perks and combos don't help.
Higher BP than a survivor game- but is it worth the stress?
So, what's would my or anyone else's incentive to play killer be? Apart from increased stress levels and/or no longer playing as killer if this was implementation why implement this? Sure it'll help tje survivor side but having even less killers playing won't help it either.
Not including the low rank killers, facecamping or 'hard tunneling ' - aiming only for the unhooked and ignoring other survivor, as in going out your way to tunnel- ask yourself one question;
At higher ranks why does proxy camping and tunnelling occur??? What makes a killer do that? If 3 gens go in 2 minutes do you think I'm going to pkay by the survivor rulebook?
Maybe thats a question we should be asking ourselves

Keys just take more effort to nerf than moris. We're already getting the DS nerf too. Besides, if the survivors use a key, then either you've already lost, or they've already lost. Just shrug it off and move onto the next game.
Sorry but keys are an issue. They give the survivor the ability to win the game prematurely and tbh when j see a survivor in the lobby and they use jt to escape its quite frankly a cheap win because they came with all intentions of using it. As you can tell I'm a killer main but I was quite happy with the mori nerf (they're cheap as well) on condition keys got changed.im just fed up with keys and when someone on lobby does a last minute key swap I go out my way to hard tunnel them, even if it means losing the game

Survivors love to hate NOED, and call it a reward for losing. But in the same breath, they say that DS needs to exist to punish killers for tunneling.
That same logic applies to NOED.
It's there so the killer can punish survivors for bad behavior. If they would just spread out their attention across both generators and totems, instead of tunneling the generators out of the game, they wouldn't ever encounter NOED as a problem.
But it's the killer's job to pressure survivors to make them leave generators, you say. Well, it's the survivor's job to avoid getting hooked. A good way to do that is to be someplace other than at the generator when the killer comes by to check; what better place than cleansing a totem?
But tunneling is no fun for the survivor who is killed, you say. Well, having gens tunneled out of the game denies the killer the 12-hook game everyone seems to think is the proper way for a killer to play; that's no fun for the killer.
But NOED just rewards killers for bad play, because it only procs when they're losing, you say. Except if a survivor played better they wouldn't ever have a chance to use DS -- it's a reward for losing.
But generators are a survivors's objective, you say. Well, hooks are the killer's objective.
But you can't be sure that all the other survivors cleansed totems, and it wastes too much time walking around looking for totems, you say. Well, it wastes a lot of time walking around to multiple generators to check if a survivor is there, and a killer doesn't have teammates to rely on to do their job for them.
Really it just boils down to the fact that survivors hate NOED because they were close to success, but then this irritating perk procs and undoes the results of your hard work, leaving you feeling like you just had the carpet yanked out from under you. Which is exactly what DS does to killers.
To the actual point, I think the issues you raise are very well thought out ans constructive. Survivors love to hate it and it gives them an excuse for salty behaviour

I think if MMR and matchmaking is properly implemented, not every killer needs to be strong.
Depending on the selected killer and the player rating for the selected killer, the matchmaking could end up usually working like this:
strong killer + good player = good survivors
strong killer + bad player = medium survivors
weak killer + good player = medium survivors
weak killer + bad player = bad survivors
Yes, it could mean that most often the best survivors would never face the weakest killers and the worst survivors would never face the strongest killers.
What do you think?
I See it as every killwr should be viable rather than of equal strength

I made the suggestion here:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/226933/buff-the-killer-hook-ui
But I've yet to hear a good reason against providing Killers the same hook information as Survivors.
for the sake of preventing repeat responses please fully read the suggestion post and i'll put points and counterpoints I've seen so far below.
Killers would use the information to tunnel.
A Killer inclined to tunnel is already told the Survivor they are hooking is dead on they're next hook by them beginning to struggle and the "entity summoned" score event.
Even if it wouldn't encourage tunneling it would encourage better target prioritization.
Giving Survivors the hook state information allows them to effectively prioritize preventing the killer getting kills by body blocking and not wasting time hanging around for a save if the person being hooked is on death hook.
If memory of hook states is going to be lorded as part of a killer's general skill ceiling why shouldn't that also apply to survivors?
The hook counter was only made to bring solo Survivor communication more in line with SWF.
It's generally accepted that SWF communication imbalances the game. As quality of life adjustments are made to improve solo Survivor communication, logical corresponding counterbalances need to be made for killers to prevent killers experience being made miserable, further increasing Survivor queue times as less killers play.
I agree with you if I as a killer have to remember the hook states for each survivor then each of the survivors do

But now, since it's not a female killer but a men killer everyone is saying the design is bad and not fitting... I was reading the story and this killer is extremely good fitting.
I hate the new killer for so many reasons. It does not however make me homophobic or racist. I'm so fed up telling people this the last few days. People not liking the killer for legit reasons (not finding him scary, bad design, not liking the ability etc etc ) does not make that person racist nor homophobic. I'm not saying your like this but its like censorship where you can't say a bad thing about the killer without being labelled either of the above. But other than that I don't see why rushing gens is a necessity. especially if you would rather fix the gens than save your team. And I've been on both sides of this now. As a survivor I was left to die after taking a protection hit for someone. and as killer I've seen people just leave their mates hanging and rush gens and leave through the gates without even looking at their teammates. C'mon people why?
And people wonder why killers camp ans tunnel. If 3 gens go off in 3 minutes I won't play nice. To answer your question idk it baffles me the appeal of gettimg in ans out as quick as possible

At level 31, he's got very little time in this game. He's still learning the basics and trying to unlock perks. Matches should challenge players by putting similar skill levels against each other, letting players learn at their own pace as their skill level increases. A match like the one he had is just frustrating, and being frustrated hinders learning; some people learn by being thrown in the deep end, but a lot don't, especially if they have a lot of stuff they don't understand being thrown at them at once so that they don't even know what it is they don't know, which means mis-matched matches are demoralizing for a lot of players and chase them away from the game entirely. The frustration in this game is a lot worse than most because of the asymmetrical aspect.
There are also people like me, who just plateau; no matter what ranks I go against, no matter what I theoretically learn from videos and what not, in practice I seem to have stopped improving. Hopefully one day skill-based MMR will go live, but until then inexperienced and low-skill players are getting a lot of miserable matches, and the only thing they learn from them is "play a different game."
Solid explanation

I have found this to be a controversial topic, many claim that gen speeds need to be reduced and hook timers increased to give trials a more drawn out and nuanced feel, but to me this sounds ridiculous when killers can get all 4 survivors slugged, hooked, or dead just as fast when abusing add ons or offerings of equal power to toolboxes. I get that there are many killers that lack the proper mobility to apply pressure on certain large maps, but how does this concern gen speed?
Its a hard one to answer.
For a 4 man SWF yes definitely
For solo survivors (unless top rank ans efficiency) no.

Because survivors can jump off a hook and onto a gen so for the next minute touching them won't matter and they get free progress on gens. Same thing with cleansing a hex, doesn't matter if you down them they will stay there and you hex is now known by half of the survivors and eating the DS which is what you kinda have to do is a big time waste.
I don't have any problems with it's interaction with the killer that includes lockers but using it as a safety net for other interactions besides healing is complete BS.
I'd say this answers the question well

I feel map offerings are terrible and should not be in the game, mainly because it can put too much control In one side. Both killers and survivors have the power to choose any map they want, but that is bad because some maps can completely shift the balance of power to one side. If survivors put on a survivor sided map like Haddonfield they are almost always going to win the game. If the killer brings a map offering that matches well with the killer then that's unfair as well because they have a unfair advantage.
So if the maps can have shift the balance and give the side an unfair advantage why is it allowed at all?
I agree, apart from the odd meme build it's just there to be abused by the sweaty SWF

I mainly ask huntress mains to tell me how hard do they think huntress is to play (and ofc master to as high level as possible), as I'm a deathslinger main (playing huntress only rarely) so I have a good idea how hard is he to play.
Basically, how long do you think it takes to learn all proper mindgame shots to outplay all kinds of loops, proper timings and aim for your shots and all the other stuff that makes a great huntress / slinger.
Personally, even after basically a year of maining slinger (I'd say I'm pretty good at him), I ocasionally re-learn or think of another way I didn't know about to outplay certain tiles. People hardly ever know how many really cools shots to outplay even the strongest pallets can be done with his power.
I'd love to hear all opinions though.
