People on these forums and Reddit are often seen complaining that killer mains are giving up and dropping out, which is increasing queue times, apparently ever since SBMM was released, and even more after the Hour of the Witch (boons) Update.
Personally, I don't really think that's the case, because honestly I believe the reason for longer queues has more to due with how the SBMM system is matching up players, and not for lack of players. Still, this game has been bleeding players on the steam charts since August, totaling about 18,000+ dropping off between August and the end of December last year, and lowering the average players online from 51k to around 40k per day for just this last month.
What I would be interested in seeing more than anything, is if the complaints that killers are dropping out is substantiated or not. Anyone else want to see a statistic sheet that shows the Avg Killer vs. Avg Survivor population vs. Overall player avg ever since SBMM was released? It would also be nice to see how many players switched roles over that same period of time as well, but that might be asking too much.
I'm betting the statistic will show that, No, killers aren't dropping out anymore than survivors, and that it's only the general population of players that are lowering due to either the seasonal average or if any recent updates have had a negative impact on the game experience overall.
Hopefully the devs already have a few statistic sheets like that, are already working on solutions to stop this bleed asap, and get the games population health back up to where it was.
Either way, It's a statistic I'd love to see to put an end to all of these complaints once and for all. Even more than that, the devs giving us that statistic through their transparency of the issue, would also reassure us, the players, that the devs know where the problems lie and are working hard to fix it.
Would Anyone else be interested in this?
Its an interesting question actually because as many have said its probably overblown. I've currently given up playing killer all together and focusing on survivor. Overall a very stressless experience

No, but blame the community for that, not the devs. That question would need to have been asked and upvoted more than the fifteen things we all already know the answer for, after all.
No i think I'll blame the devs. Whether they like it or not they have a duty of care, something which in this case is lacking

Fair point. I forget sometimes about the hubris that people have sometimes.
I actually think it's an interesting idea. COH needs balancing somehow. It's just as i say the devs won't allow it. They're short sightedness is destroying the game

I just wanted to throw the question out there to start a discussion regarding old Ruin: Undying. With the controversy surrounding COH (Circle of Healing) at the moment regarding its level of power I just want to see if a return of the old Ruin: Undying would be a way to effectively balance the power of both boons and hexes.
Just interested in feedback regarding if it would be a good idea at this point in time.
Devs never reverse decisions; to do so is an admission of defeat, something they will not allow

I am telling you to actual try to learn, my dude. Your attitude right now tells me you just want to be good without actually trying.
Use the brown addon that shows you where your blink will be and just play. Don't worry about winning or losing, focus on learning. That's it. Nothing else. The only reason losing is a problem is because you are taking it as a problem. You're brand new to something, stop expecting to be a master instantly, and understand that you're going to make mistakes and you need to learn from them.
He's played 30 games in a row...he's trying to learn. He's complaining about the level he's playing against. Yes you improve against better players but you still need to familiarise yourself with the killer.
Nurse is different- as OP mentioned she's unique. Want to learn Wraith? If you know the M1 basics then you'll at least be adequate. Nurse? Different story.
Only advantage OP would have as an experienced player is map knowledge and if the nurse has good perks. That's it.
The real point is MMR doesn't work. Devs take a bow

30 straight L's.
I quit playing Killer normally (because it's no longer fun whether I win or lose) so I decided to try to play Killers I have never played before in hopes that it would be a fresh experience.
Apparently, that was a mistake because I've lost 30 straight games while trying to learn Nurse.
Do the people making this game understand how ######### demoralizing it is to get clicked at, t-bagged and generally treated like a joke for thirty goddamn games? I had someone send me a TWITCH WHISPER to "learn how to play Killer gg baby Killer."
I had hoped that my MMR would lower enough to the point where I might get people on my skill level, but apparently not. I'm getting the exact same perk set-ups and the exact same people as my first games. It's not even that my MMR is high, I'm just BAD at Nurse because I've NEVER PLAYED HER BEFORE. I can't aim blinks and can't land hits and I'm never going to be able to because my games are ending before I get to learn ANYTHING.
Is this a rant/vent post? yes. Am I pissed? yes. Is this meant to be taken seriously? not really. Am I close to not being able to find any enjoyment in this game. also yes.
If you're losing 30 games in a row logically the MMR formula would suggest as you have already said 'I don't play nurse' or 'I'm new to nurse'. As such I would expect your MMR to drop to a level of that of a beginner (why it was so high on a killer you've never played is another question). This shows how busted this mechanism is. It also goes directly against what the devs say; their biggest selling point (not that we had a choice or a say in the matter however) was that it would allow players the chance to play new/unfamiliar killers at an easier level and improve. This completely dismantles that ideology.
Take a break before you burn out (I took an 8 month break from burnout).
Further evidence how MMR doesn't work properly

The problem being that Survivors set the pace of the game, and the current meta means Killers have to claw for every second of the match just to kill, never mind having to find that CoH Boon that's giving 3.5 second heals.
On top of that, Hex: Penti was dropped just after Boons, and it's literally the only perk in the game I think of that gets countered by ignoring it. Let me explain:
- Penti cannot be applied if Survivors never Cleanse. Meaning, if Survivors ignore totems, the Killer can NEVER APPLY PENTI.
- Survivors can apply Boons without Cleansing. Meaning, again; Penti can never be applied.
- Survivors can apply Boons OVER Hex totems. Meaning they never have to Cleanse. Meaning Penti can never be applied.
- Killers can Snuff totems, which does not CLEANSE totems. Which means they can't even Snuff a totem, and then apply Penti.
- Unlike Hexes, which are 1 and done (for the most part), Boons can be reapplied forever. A Killer can NEVER shut down a Boon permanently.
- Most Hexes aren't even worth the 1-and-done Hex status they have. Every Boon is. Yet, again; Boons can be reapplied. Because screw Killers.
So this is why I hate Boons: They are stronger than Hexes. They override Hexes. Killers don't have the time to cleanse then repeatedly. And certain perks (cough Penti cough) Show how glaringly weak Hexes are compared to Boons.
Meaning the devs literally took a Killer mechanic, made it 10 times more powerful, then gave it to Survivors.
I don't want to scream the tired old 'Devs have a Survivor bias', but either this is a bias, or the devs have literally 0 idea how their game functions any more. It's one or the other; bias, or lack of awareness.
Because no one who has any clue how DBD functions would have said 'Hey! You know what Killers need? You know, the people asking for SURVIVORS to have a time sink because gen speeds can go under 4 minutes? A time sink of their own! Based off a Killer power that we will horribly unbalance before giving it to Survivors, just to ensure Killers are forced to do this time sink! Survivors can chose to not cleanse, but if Killers don't Snuff Circle of OP; they will not win! Oh yeah; and while we're giving Survivors Hexes (but better); why don't we allow them to apply these better effects as many times as they want! Am I brilliant or what?'
I completely wholeheartedly agree with everything you have just said. Words of Wisdom

I feel like this isn't a fair argument on both sides. On the dev side yes being more transparent is risky but it shouldn't be feared. On the other side as players You want transparency but you need to be okay with what you hear. If you don't like it that's fine but it's no excuse to jump down a dev teams throat because they aren't doing what YOU want. you're not the developer. Don't let trolls get to you guys. I play the game too and there are things that annoy me. I'm vocal about them but I don't demand that Changes be made when I want them. don't let a minority of players get to you.
If I had one complaint it would be that as cool as the Q&A videos are, the same questions are answered every stream without fail. Example shirtless Felix. That's a waste of a question yet it's been addressed the last 3 times. Anything to do with NFTs is just stupid but that's not my call.
We as players need to remember that it's not easy being a team on a game like this since it's never over, the work is ongoing and only so much can be done at a time.
the object of obsession change was handled well. so was the change to DS. people just didn't like what they heard.
I actually blame their Public Relations (if they have one). You're always going to annoy either killers or survivors with changes, the way these changes are communicated are a joke. Also don't forget this is their job - not out of the kindness of their hearts and as a consumer of the game having bought all the DLCs if I'm not happy I'm entitled to express that opinion.
The game is horrible just now. Ask yourself why they bring out new killers every 3 months (usually buggy and not fit for purpose) instead of putting these chapters on hold and 'Fixing' the game --- £££££
Which is all the devs really care about. I used to be sympathetic to them but not anymore. They're doing a job and you're paying their wages - don't forget that

I enjoyed the horror aspect at first, the atmosphere of DBD the full works. Only horror aspect of DBD now is how poor a way the game is

SWF. Many newer players get to rank 1 with the help of 4man swf.
I had such a group myself when I was a beginner and I regret it now, since they were toxic as #########. One of them would run Object, and distract the low rank killer (back then average rank chose your killer, not highest), while I did gens. I didn't lern to loop somewhat until I had about 500hrs. This was over 2 years and 3k hrs ago.
The amount of self caring, urban evading Blendettes against a Sloppy Butcher Legion on red ranks has drastically increased.
I must commend you on your honesty, it is refreshing. And I couldn't agree more, I was in a similar position to you, i wouldn't say my SWF were toxic as such but as you rightly said they'll try and distract the killer while I sat and did gens. What I think people can forget is it takes virtually no skill to do a gen - you learn quickly how to hit a skill check and all survivors do gens at the same speed; I may be worse at looping just now than you, my decision making may be worse BUT both of us will do gens at the same speed. And same as you as a result I got to red without being able to properly loop, being reliant on a team mate telling me where the killer was at all times, getting protected by my SWF etc etc. It was only when I played solo I actually got good when I had to rely on my own ability and no one else's. Playing as a solo was tjs best thing I ever did.
I fully agree, there are plenty of reds who don't properly know how to play

Do you guys even know how the game works to say some crap like this ?
I mean, did you even understand the chore of the gameplay of this game ?
Do you know that gen rush doesn't exist if you play properly ?
- Start of the game : 5 gens left, 8 gens on map, map control is impossible, survivors can gen rush during this part
- Middle of the game : 2/3 gens left, 5/6 gens on the map, area to control is smaller, gen rush is impossible at this time, but some gens can be done
- End of the game : 1 gen left, 3 gens on map, if you have applied the good pressure, you end up in a 3 gens situation. This part of the trial can last 5 minutes... sometimes even 10 minutes.
Actually I've just read some of your comments on other posts and you're definitely either a troll account or entitled survivor main. Therefore I don't really expect a serious response to my previous answer above

I Actually lol'd at this. I can't tell if its bait or you're being serious but I'll treat it as serious, here is my response. Also @Tsulan since this was your comment originally I agreed with what are your thoughts?
- 'Gen Rush doesn't exist if you play properly' is something that someone not too inexperienced with the game would say, or an entitled survivor main who doesn't play killer or plays low level. A lot of survivor mains even admit the existence of gen rush. The ability of gen rushing is very much dependent on the calibre of survivor;
4 efficient survivors (don't necessarily have to be a 4 man SWF) are gonna make a tough game for any killer. Simple things such as;
- Spreading pressure rather than 3 or 4 people on 1 gen. Killer can't pressure 3 or 4 gens at once
-My teammate was on a gen and is now getting chased. I could run away or hide from the killer but instead I'll hop on the gen they were working on and finish it
- First 2 gens popped very near each other/ same side. I should therefore not just go for the first gen I see which may also be close but go to another side of the map
- Let's be mindful of central map generators, aim for them and spread the remaining gens
- The generator is 95% done and i hear TR. Instead of immediately running i will commit to this gen and complete it at the potential expense of a health state
- Wandering about or being immersed is wasted gen time. So when appropriate I'm on a gen and not wasting time
- I'm on a gen with someone else and I see the killer approaching. I will attempt to let the killer chase me and allow the other survivor to complete the gen
These are just a few examples of what efficient survivors think. Of course the individual killer, mobility of the killer, potential of a 1 shot down (cannibal, hillbilly etc) and of course the skill of the player playing killer. But if you're against 3 or 4 survivors with mindsets and skill levels of the above, you are going to struggle. Even top streamers, people who play this game as a living struggle of against 4 efficient survivors (and once again I'll clarify they don't have to be SWF. I'm by no means the best survivor but I have the above mindset)
1) At least we agree on something
2) Disagree, gen rush is 'very much possible ' at this point. Plus also how good are the survivors at looping, hook time, time to walk to challenge gen, gen defence perks, survivor skill etc all come into play. If survivors are conscious about a 3 gen possibility they will do their best to avoid it
3) The way you say 'if you apply good pressure you will have a 3 gen situation' makes it sound moronically simple. In theory it's very simple in practice not always. All the points I've raised point towards why a 3 gen doesn't always happen.
That's my carefully thought out reply. 3 gen is desirable and I aim for it but not always possible. And to clarify;
Yes - I know how the game works; hopefully my reply shows as much
Yes - I understand the chore of gameplay
No - I'm afraid Gen Rush does exist and to think it doesnt is simply a naive or blinkered attitude to have

I was very excited at first, but of course, was led to be even more disappointed because the Trickster was not given any meaningful buffs after thorough feedback from the PTB. This chapter had so much potential.
We also haven't gotten a new map. I know why we aren't (the graphical updates), but it really would have been nice. I mean, that main menu look was absolutely gorgeous, I can only imagine how good the map would look like.
He is still a cool killer imo with nice lore, but he is just another weak killer no one will really play. The Wraith and blight changes are now what I am excited for. I really think the only reason people will play him is because BHVR will come out with really good skins for him. It's almost like he is going to become a dress-up doll you can buy cool cosmetics for.
PS: His chase music could use some tweaking, there isn't really a beat to follow, just a bunch of noise for most of it. It is still pretty good though.

Same with for killers, camping at 1 gen is unfortunately is a strategy, a boring one but a strategy nether the less.
I don't condone toxic players but I know why they do it. Survivors do it to bait and killers do it to show dominance.

Perhaps you're getting hard tunnelled and facecamped because you have a key? I'll be honest as a Killer main if you have a key and its a toss between hitting you or another survivor im going for you. “Everybody” was unanimously in agreement that Spirit was the weakest killer ever released during her PTB, and shortly after her release.
Hardly anybody gives any killer enough time to make reasonable assessments of a new killer in question.
But do you think the killer is viable as is in high level play? As in the current state he is in. And how much time is an adequate length of time then? The Trickster is flawed as is and i get PTB is a testing period, but the point im making is the changes the devs are doing is simply inadequate. You said not all streamers are gods at the game and you're right with that. But they play tje game for a living we don't. I'm not saying they are better than us but we have just about every major streamer saying he's not viable as is, with tons of suggestions that right or wrong always get disregarded. Need I say any more? This build is used in almost every game at the higher ranks due to how simple it makes defending the generators. There's no skill or (real) counterplay to this combo. There is counterplay to BBQ, hiding in lockers, but doing that when repairing a generator just wastes precious time. That means there's more chance the killer will get to the generator before it's repaired and ruin all your hard work and effort for no effort or investment at all.
The killer just hooks a survivor (easy enough) and sees everyone's aura, and then they can go to generators being worked on and instantly get rid of 30-40 or more seconds of a generator repair progression, counting the fact it applies normal regression ON TOP OF the massive gen progress decrease. There's nothing the survivor can do about it. It doesn't even have a cool down, so if someone tries to repair the generator to make up for the unavoidable regression loss, the killer can just do it again with no penalty. It literally punishes you for playing well, and I don't know if that's healthy.
I realise this will probably be seen as a joke or bait by the people of this forum, but I'm being serious. This build is used in almost every high rank game - even the Decisive Strike + Unbreakable combo isn't used that often, yet the BBQ+Pop combo is the one ignored. It reeks of hypocrisy to me. Both combos are uncounterable without literally stopping doing your objective. Killers should face the same stigma for running these brainless combos that survivors are given, and I'm sick of this community giving them a free pass.
Tl;dr: Killers are hypocrites for complaining about good survivor perk combos when they use an overpowered and uncounterable perk combo every game. It's the small PP build for killer.
No I think this is bait. So we'll just let the gens rush with no defence then because survivors like you don't like it? Don't think so

Hatchets that are unavoidable and uncounterable, killers crutch on things that have no counterplay to gain a massive unfair advantage. But lets make it a huge priority to nerf a fair survivor perk again and leave Huntress in her busted state. Zubat's basically that guy who's really good at DBD, but lacks a personality. Compare him to Umbra she's always engaging with her chat, and being damn good at the game at the same time. She seems more expressive and always smiling, where Zubat is just showing his normal expression. That's really one of the huge drop offs for me as to why I never really enjoyed watching him
Yeah I agree i think being a DBD streamer (or any streamer) being good at the game gets you so far. Zubats skills are near enough unmatched and as you said you can see tje skills when watching him. And dont get me wrong he has done really well for himself, its just having charisma as a streamer gets you further. Charisma can compensate for skill. I personally would rather watch an engaging charismatic streamer that's good instead of watching a more muted streamer who's the best

I think his basekit makes him more effective than most other killers against sweaty SWF and with the right perk build, can make a 4 man SWF a challenge for them. If I go up constant SWF ans get fed up I'll run Freddy with PGTW, Discordance, BBQ and Surveillance (i call it the anti SWF Gen Rush Build), not needing any add ons and actually feel that I can have a proper competitive game with the sweaty 4 man's. I agree i don't think he's as god like as people proclaim, nor is he as skilless as people make him out to be (ok teleporting doesn't take skill and his snares make anti loop easier but if you don't know how to loop effectively game over). He can give a 4 man a run for their money and that's why I think there's so much 'Freddy OP'. The sweaty 4 man SWF like to be in control the whole time

Im green rank 10 and bounce between 9 and 10 a lot because I usually face nothing but rank 1s with hundreds of more hours than me. Needless to say not fun games. Especially when Im trying out a new killer with one perk on him. If the game is gonna make me face these people at least give me more bloodpoints that way I can at least speed lvl my new killers to have a somewhat fighting chance. I also think its a little BS that I cant swap killers when I see a lobby full of survivors all prestige 3 and Im stuck on my lvl 4 Deathslinger I just bought. If that happens I already know Im in for a bad time just on perk pool alone.
If you feel that way dodge the lobby. If I don't think I'm gonna have a fun game because of keys or 4 toolboxes I do it

This is very true

IF they managed to do 5 gens in 3 minutes your skills need to be fixed, not the game.
If you have 4 very optimal survivors especially SWF then regardless of how good the killer is, you're most likely gonna lose unless you hard slug. The reason I doesnt happen to that extreme too often is because most survivors arent optimal

I don't know what rank you are/were but that was my big issue with Red Ranks. Every game would end one of two ways
- I curb stomp the survivors
- The survivors curb stomp me
There never seemed to be any middle ground and neither are very much fun...
This is exactly how I've been feeling. More so this week than most. I find that the tome challenges getting released always brings out the sweatys

I never really understand why a killer chooses to dc in a game, especially if the game is close to over. I've had times, as the killer, where I've definitely wanted to in some ways but I choose not to still.
For example, yesterday I had 3 games back to back with rank 1 survivor squad in the first one, second was all red, and the last was red with some purple. Each game had 3 gens done within the first few minutes and it gets old in back to back games. I just decided to stare at a wall and just goof around. Definetly better than dcing imo. I was a baby plague (like level 15) so I expected to lose but didn't expect to lose that badly.
I don't do it personally but many on the forums say they do it to deprive the survivors of BP as well as getting out a game they don't like

Why do all of you whine? From perks and add-ons that allow insta-down, a higher walking speed, perks like Ruin and the fact that the only keys that can open it are purple and pink tier. You act like killers are supposed to win every game. Stop crying or find a new game to try and ruin. Just because your life revolves around a video game and nothing else doesn't mean u try to ruin it for people who play for fun. Keys don't need to be balanced or changed to help your ego
With this rant it sounds more like your life revolves around a video game

Keys = lobby dodge because right now they're unbalanced. They nerfed moris into the ground, and because survivors know they'll be nerfing keys soon, us killers see keys so much more regularly now. Until the keys are nerfed too, its not really fair to use them (should have been nerfed with moris), so don't complain about people dodging keys
Exactly win condition not being met = lobby dodge
