So I am genuinely curious about this. I see killers complain that survivors are "gen-rushing". This to me is incredibly confusing because as far as I know... there is 1 objective in the trial for a survivor: complete gens. Thats it.

So if they dont want survivors to continuously complete generators... what the heck else are they supposed to be doing? Running around letting killers beat them to death with no promise that if you dont "gen-rush" and "play fair" that you, or -anyone- will escape the trial at all.

I'm sorry I just dont understand this logic.

If killers don't like "gen-rushing" then cry to BHVR and tell them to give survivors another objective/option. Thats the only suggestion I've got.

Survivors could be doing totems so they don't have to come to the forums and complain that NOED is OP.

  • I break pallets whenever I can unless I know I can quickly mindgame the survivor. I at least try to position them on the weaker side before breaking it though.

In my experience trying too hard to mindgame a pallet makes the chase take longer than if you'd broken it immediately. Leaving the pallet down also allows it to come back into play later if a survivor runs back to that loop creating, another mindgame situation whereas you could've easily downed the survivor if the pallet was destroyed.

It doesn't matter either way I could take a squad without COH anyday of the week and get the gens done faster than a squad who resets even one at a time like that, COH is good about getting pressure off of survivors but at a exchange of slowing the game down and resources being wasted while you aren't on a gen because even if healing only took 16 secs solo which I believe it's longer after the nerf , it still takes time to go back and forth to the zone because survivors who run that perk will tell you themselves they put it in a zone where gens are completed so you're running away from the objective to make it happen in the first place, while that perk may be great for some survivors, the good survivors don't need it because they can run the killer injured and if everyone is staying on gens all it takes is for 2 good chases to end a game, 1 chase at the beginning 2-3 gens should pop and then during second chase the last two should be getting done if the person unhooked hops straight on a gen without a reset and the game is over it's really that simple

You're still acting under the assumption that most survivors play that way. They don't. They may wait until it's convenient to heal, sure, but they don't stay injured the whole game just to rush gens.

  • @The_Krapper said:

It's honestly hilarious to see some people trying to argue COH makes gens go faster, if you stay injured and rush gens they will get done faster EVERY time it's mathematically impossible for them to get done faster if you heal everytime you're injured and go back to a gen, it makes doing a gen easier for bad survivors who need that first hit to run a killer but I'll bet the house on it that I can run a squad with adrenaline, resilience, and prove thyself and get the gens done faster than any COH squad out there because if you're healing even if it's only 16-20 secs it adds up when multiple people do it and I can start equating it to gens that would've been done.

You're assuming that survivors choose to stay injured unless COH is present. That's not the case for most survivors. Therefore they spend more time off gens healing than they would if COH was present. Also, COH allows one survivor to heal themselves instead of needing another survivor to do it for them, so that frees up one survivor to stay on gens for that time.

  • @Sacrifeast said:

This happens a lot to me and doesn’t everyone agree that shroud of binding should be a killer offering cause then there all together and can’t to separate gens

I 100% agree. They have the killer and survivor offerings for this messed up. Though personally I don't think survivors should have an offering to all start separated due to the variation in map sizes. Their's could be changed to let them start at a certain position on the map like main building or shack. Or maybe something like spawn near a chest.

  • Just double checking. If this was for Sadako I could maybe agree, but it would be too strong on Spirit.

  • There were a few ideas like that. Others were reducing gen speeds until the first chase started or removing speed bonuses for multiple survivors on a gen until either time had passed or the first chase started.

The main goal was to prevent one or more gens from.being done before the killer could even locate the survivors.

Exactly. Gen speeds were faster before CoH and CoH slowed down gen speeds by giving survivors a "secondary" objective, which was healing. The developers gave Killers exactly what they wanted, slower gen speeds, by adding a "secondary" objective and killers complained that survivors where using the "secondary" objective and got it nerfed. Now the gen speed issues have come back.

You can't give survivors a useless "secondary" objective and expect them to use it.

No. Gen speeds are worse with CoH because survivors heal faster. It's less time healing overall. I'd rather survivors have longer heal times or make the poor decision to stay injured.

Healing is not a secondary objective.

  • No, I think they'll make some sort of change.

What frustrated me though, other than the lack of communication from BHVR, is they won't make any changed to the grind now. They say they won't change anything or increase BP gains because it would just be a band-aid fix. But that's literally what band-aids are for. It's a temporary measure to help something before a permanent solution takes over. There a lots of things they could do for now, but they choose to do nothing.

  • @Munqaxus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/319449/3-gens-under-90-seconds

Look, more gen speeds are too quick thread after the "secondary" objectives, Circle of Healing nerf was announced. It's almost like survivors are switching from the healing meta to the gen speed meta. Gen speeds will only get quicker once the CoH nerf goes through and more survivors stop using boons and go back to gen speed builds.

Gen speeds were like this before CoH was even a perk. All CoH changed was allowing survivors to heal faster and more often before getting back on a gen.

  • I agree 100%. If you stay teamed up with a player that's overtly hacking you should be banned just the same as them.

  • @Veinslay said:

They could have been using a VPN. Didn't ScottJund make a video about people getting matched with regions further and further away to try to alleviate queue times somewhat?

That's possible for sure but I've had probably a dozen matches this past weekend like that. But like I said I may have not noticed before. I only started looking because their names have been written in other languages or blocked out.

  • @Icaurs said:

Unfortunately its proven fact that if gen timers were increased, killers would actually resort to camping more, not less. The reason why gen speeds cannot be changed is A because killers camp, slug tunnel ect, and generators need to go be this fast to compensate this. Second increased gen timers are just boring. There are more then enough perks, addons ect to deal with gen speeds, and if you choose not use them then that's your choice but that that happens. Killers have been heavily favoured for most of DBD, which is why most changes have been killer sided. Reduced map size, decreased pallets, blocked loops ect. And more perks then you need to deal with gen speeds. If killers came out in agreement to put in harsh game mechanics to discourage camping and tunnelling then killers would be forced to play the game propprely and gen speeds could then be altered to properly match this. But unfortunately as it stands this is unlikely to happen.

This is BS. Gen times aren't fixed because people cry that doing gens is boring. Yet BHVR refuses to even add a secondary objective or reduce map sizes to patrolling gens is easier. And those same survivors that cry about gens being boring seem to do nothing but work on gens like their literal lives depend on it.

Chases and using your perks/items are the fun parts of the game. That's where the focus should be. Not holding M1 in a stationary position at a gen or staying with 10 meters of a hook until a survivor finally dies on their first hook. DbD can be better. DbD should be better.

  • Yep. I've had several poor sport survivors show the killer where I was. This game has catered to survivors so much they even feel like they should never be found by the killer instead of other survivors. The worst part is even if you report them with video evidence BHVR lets them keep playing.

  • Nurse because she prevents stronger perks from being placed in the game. She also comes from a time when survivors could do BS like finish a gen in 1 second with a BNP and insta-heal. Her OP power is no longer healthy for the game.

  • This is from 2 years ago. It was my first ever perfect game.

Thanks for saving my time BHVR. I would play game for x2 BP event. Now i will just login, take bp and leave again. 😍

This was me yesterday. I logged in ready to play all evening. 1st match I get a teammate making loud noise notifications to show the killer where we all were so D/C'd, spent my 100k, and logged off for the evening. I already had the bonus so there was no need to put up with DbD's toxicity.

  • I exclusively play solo survivor. I can say without a doubt that the killer role is by far the harder of the two. Survivors have been nerfed so hard because they were ridiculously overpowered to begin with (instant blinds, permanent hook sabotaging, brand new parts instantly finishing a generator, 2 types of instant heals). Survivors continue to have massive advantages too. If they have even a modicum of efficiency combined with their plethora of 2nd chance perks they can beat the killer almost every time even if the killer is getting them all on death hook.

Really the only hard part about survivor is the teammates. They're the real killer. Bringing killers to unfinished gens, staying injured, standing around doing nothing, hook trading when it's unnecessary, bringing killers to injured teammates, sandbagging at loops, the list goes on.

  • Not everything is meant for everyone. If scary horror characters freak you out, maybe you shouldn't be playing a game where you get chased around by scary horror characters.

  • @Mr_K said:

What anti-facecamping changes would stop this?

Idk. The devs said they're working on something to stop face camping but still allow proxy camping iirc

  • That would be cool, but I think overall it would be best if Tinkerer only worked once per gen.

  • Time of day seems to have more to do with survivor/killer quality than anything. Usually during the day is when you get the high MMR survivors. From early evening to sometime after midnight when lots of people are playing the MMR system favors quick trials over evenly matched trials so you get a lot of new and low skilled players

  • I really don't understand why they're so reluctant to just remove 25% of the pallets or make any changes really.

The only thing this map is good for as killer is for the "break x number of pallets" challenges.

  • I hope so. Swarms should last a little bit longer on survivors or have some additional effect and the damage range of her crows should be slightly longer. A lot of her add-ons need help too.

  • For survivors: Iron Will and Dead Hard.

    For killers: Tinkerer

A lot of people keep saying NOED, but NOED is fine. Any perk that can be disabled by survivors taking a whole 70 seconds collectively, or 17.5 seconds each, with a plethora of perks and items to choose from to help them do it isn't a threat at all. It's just lazy playing on the part of the survivors.

  • Nurse needs a full rework. According to the devs they have several ideas they can't implement because they'd be broken due to Nurse.

Don't get me wrong, I love her power even though I'm no good with her. She's the most unique killer in the game and CAN be fun to face. But too often her ability to ignore every wall and pallet is frustrating. It's even worse when you get a sweaty Nurse that slugs.

  • Nah. Hexes don't last long enough as it is. As soon as they know you have it they'll break it within 30 seconds.

The only change NOED needs is for survivors to do bones during the trial. They're an intended side objective and NOED is a risk to ignoring them to rush gens.

Ahh yes my favorite response. Swf is equal to cheating. @deKlaw_04 we cant play together anymore. According to this guy we are cheaters if we play with more than 1 friend. Sorry bud. This is the way.

Technically he isn't wrong. SWF's operate outside of the game's intended design. The game wasn't designed with survivor multi-player in mind and isn't balanced around it. When DbD released there was no option for SWF. BhVR only added it because survivors would dodge lobbies until they eventually matched up with their friends. That's why so many early perks were designed around taking information away from survivors, like Hex: Third Deal and Knock Out. This is a complete failure on BHVR's fault to build an online multi-player game in 2016 and not take into consideration that people would want to play with their friends.

This is why BHVR is planning to give solo survivors more information to boost them to near SEF levels so they can finally balance the game around SWF's.

  • I've had a lot of luck using lethal pursuer on Plague. Getting people infected early helps to keep them off gens if they cleanse or spread the infection if they don't. You also get your corrupt purge much sooner.

That’s what those people that like to complain about everything focus on. Here is their official statement:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1855085#Comment_1855085

In their live streams they repeatedly said they were looking at it because of how often it was used and due to it's high usage it made it difficult to tell what problems with gen progression speeds needed to be addressed. They also said they had to scrap several perk ideas because of how they would be OP when paired with ruin.

I've just played Trickster for a daily.

I planned to do the strict minimum and then let the survivor do whatever they wanted. (I don't enjoy playing this killer, I only use him for this)

However, a few seconds in the game I get two repeated explosion spots in the shack.

Yup, one of these. In fact two, very obnoxious, gift-wrapped Dwights.

I just knew they were in the lockers. Of course the first one failed his head-on and ate a bat. He positioned himself so I would be hit by his acolyte. I wasn't born yesterday so it didn't work.

I proceeded ignoring the two clowns and took care of the two others. Of course they kept being rude doing that noise non-stop. They had saboteur too, both of them. I kept my cool. I've patiently ignored them until they made a fatal mistake. They got hit, both of them, and didn't heal immediately. I downed one of them in a corner of the map. He had boil-over so I've simply dropped him and let him bleed out while the other one kept doing noises. In the mean time the last "normal" survivor died on her hook in the background.

It took them one whole minute to think about crawling in front of a locker so I could eat a head-on.

It didn't work either : second one down.

Troll number one bled out a few seconds later and Troll number two got hooked with a nice view on the hatch.

I had no comment in the after game chat. 😂

Both of them had Boil over, Break-out, Saboteur, Head-On. I guess they didn't consider the bleed option.

Idk why but Dwelf and bald Dwight have a 90% greater chance of being toxic.

After Sadako came out I noticed that survivor queue times got a lot shorter as I assume more people were playing killer. Seems like the surge in killer players has already died down and I’m back to my normal instant killer queues no matter the time of day/evening (eastern US time zone). Are others seeing the same?

Pretty much. SBMM is also back to giving completely random matchups.

I'm sure if we had end game chat it wouldn't stop them from still messaging you from Xbox Live messages or in my case PSN messages thing which I also have turn off for this game only.

cross end game chat would just make it easier for people from different platforms to chat/message you( mostly never good messages)

My hopes would be that they would get enough rage out of their system in the end-game chat that the number of XBL messages I got would be far less than now.

  • @bm33 said:

Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are the ones preventing cross progression to other platforms.

I can guarantee it isn't a Microsoft issue. I say this all the time but BHVR doesn't even allow you to have cross-progression between DbD for Xbox Console and DbD for Xbox PC. Microsoft wouldn't lose anything from that since it all uses the same Xbox Live account and all of the purchases still go through Microsoft. The only reason there isn't cross-progression in at least that instance is because BHVR doesn't want to do it.

  • I'd like to have an in-game chat so I can finally turn my Xbox Live messages back on. I have them turned off specifically because of DbD and the harassment I get from salty survivors.

  • Because half the time I don't get the prompt to drop the pallet even though the killer is still 2 - 4 meters away.

  • The only NOED rework you need: do bones.

😑 just stop commenting on things you don't understand. Like you are not helpful and actually not getting anywhere with your 'point'

Nothing you have said here makes any sense. The chains only come if you let the box sit on the map too long. If you pick up the box and solve it they never come. If you get the box and hold onto it without solving it the chain hunt only happens for you. Either way, get the box and solve it and you won't have to deal with any chains.

Funfakt my PC came with software installed that can do that. Some pseudo gaming hub stuff. Kinda suspicious

Considering this is the only multi-player game I've ever received a penalty for due to a power flash BHVR could undoubtedly do better.

  • @Crowman said:

Once per a gen restriction really makes no sense for either perks, but especially on a perk that is just an information perk. Tinkerer itself does not regress gens or block gens meaning the only reason to use it is for information and nerfing how much information it gives makes 0 sense.

With perks like Call of Brine it becomes too oppressive since the gen can be quickly regressed below the activation point. On killers like Nurse, Blight, Artist, and Spirit it's too much. Even ranged killers can make it impossible to finish a gen depending on the map.

  • @Faulds said:

On the contrary, merciless storm should activate multiple times on the same gen if you managed to make it regress under 90%.

Nah. If you get it once that's all you need. If you can't remember to patrol a gen that you were notified about then that's on you.

  • @YOURFRIEND said:

Nah, it's fine. Merciless is worthless without a way to make survivors let go of the gen. I was absolutely trashed on Friday, talking to friends and hitting the skill checks consistently and I'm an awful survivor.

Whether or not Merciless Storm is good or not is mostly irrelevant. It works once and does it's job. It isn't an infinite way for the killer to have a chance to block a gen. Tinkerer should work the same by only proc'ing once per gen.
