Stormy Weather = DC Penalty

I just had a power flash during the first real spring storm of the year and came back to a DC penalty. BHVR you really need to fix the DC penalty system. Getting banned or timed out for things beyond our control is ridiculous to say the least.

  • First DC is like a 5min ban so....

Iv been disconnect multiple times and had forced updates mid match (which count as a DC) and I have yet to verse a long ban.

DC Penalties need to be HARSHER. No idea why people claim they dont DC and get a huge ban, if you know your wifi is messed up fix your wifi first.

But what should they do all the system sees is that the connection to you got lost. The system sees the same if you pull you plug or kill the connection via shortcut

Funfakt my PC came with software installed that can do that. Some pseudo gaming hub stuff. Kinda suspicious

  • BHVR should add a system that detects the stormy weather outside in order to avoid giving you the unbearably long 5 minutes ban.

Considering this is the only multi-player game I've ever received a penalty for due to a power flash BHVR could undoubtedly do better.

yeah, and it should do my taxes too! Come on BHVR it's 2022.

  • It does really suck that BHVR doesn't have any kind of a "rejoin game" function for when you get popped out for only a few seconds

But until that does exist, a DC is a DC no matter the cause behind it unfortunately

Thing is, DbD matches are too short for that to be helpful. As survivor, you give the team such a massive disadvantage that the killer likely already has turned the match in their favour, and coming back to it would be futile.

As killer, that requires leaving a match on hold for 4 other players who have to either pause the game, which nobody wants, or just do gens and leave.

I suppose that's fair but I'm just thinking of my own game and the few times I've had the power flicker off and then on again. It would take me at the very longest, 30 seconds to turn my Xbox back on and get to the main screen (where I presume at that point it would give you the option to get back into your game).

30 seconds can be a long long time in this game (especially if you're killer) so I was basing this more on survivors being able to come back. Like you said, with how short the games are, maybe BHVR just thinks it's not worth the effort to implement something like that when most cases it would kill your team (either because you're the killer and 30 seconds is long enough to get a LOT of gen progression done unchallenged or because you are a survivor getting hooked and you may just die before you even get back).

  • If you're truly only having a power flicker and you're not actually having sustained, intermittent outages caused by inclement weather, than just get an APC. Problem solved.

can you explain how BHVR will be able to tell the difference between you turning off your PC or force quitting the application (not legit reasons to DC) and a real power outage (legit reason to DC)?

  • The only thing you really can do is don't play during storms. That's what I used to do at my old house since the electric was really prone to flickering and/or shutting off for a short while during storms. Just play another game and wait until the storm settles down, then get back into DBD if you feel like it.

  • How are they susposed to know it was something out of your control dc penalties can never be lowered you obviously never played when they turned them off due to a bug it was unplayable to say the least. Just dont play during a storm

The system can't see if you dc on accident or on purpose, so it gives you a dc penalty whether or not you did it on purpose.

In every game where dc penalties exist, it works like this as none of them can't see what the cause of the dc was.
