  • Holy crap, I knew people liked to come to the forum and complain about everything be OP, but Spine Chill? A non-meta, non-game breaking perk with average use. That's what we consider OP now?

Spine Chill is fine. It might not seem fair that it helps counter stealth killers, but it isn't exactly fair that some killers can completely erase their terror radius and get free hits and grabs because of it either.

  • Preventing an unhook isn't BM'ing. It's just playing the game.

You know, I would appreciate it if you didn't attempt to put words in my mouth, as I never said there's anything inherently wrong with a Killer having good add-ons. (If anything, I'm actually of the opinion that too many Killers have bad add-on combos, like Ghostface.)

The issue with Spirit's add-ons isn't the fact that she has strong add-ons. I love Myers and he has some really strong add-ons.

The issue is that she has many add-ons that flat out do more then intended, and boost an already amazing Killer to insanse levels of power. It's pretty much like Nurse before the add-on rework, where all of her add-ons where insane.

If you have a Killer who is already really strong, they probably don't need insanely strong add-ons to boot. She doesn't have really any fun, weird add-ons- just really, really strong add-ons that only get better and better.

Again though, I would suggest if you haven't watched it, even if you'll ostracise me for it, to take a look at Otz's Spirit Add-On video to see what I mean for her add-ons doing more then intended. He explains it much better then I can.

When Spirit got her "rework" or whatever you want to call it, they nerfed evwry single add-on that people asked them too. Some of them were actually busted back then. The Prayer Beads were a huge problem and the one most people complained about. They also neefed the Wakazashi Blade and the Yakuyoke Amulet. Everyone was happy with that. They were happy with it right up until a couple of streamers came out and said "Spirits add-ons are still busted." and since people love to jump on every hate Spirit bandwagon, they went back to crying about them being broken. Her add-ons are fine. They're the only add-ons on the game that do what add-one should do. They enhance her powers without some gimmicky BS or without a major drawback to using them.

Nope, not at all, red rank console players act like rank 20s. I had 3 games today where a console player went down in chase in 10 seconds and instantly dced.

By your own logic, you must be terrible at the game since you know, you're a console player. Maybe you need to focuse more on improving your own skills.

I notice really no difference between either console or PC players at any ranks. They all have their share of boosted red rank players. Players that suck in chase but due to playing primarily in a SWF group and loading up on 2nd chance perks they get carried to red ranks.

Yea but the reason they Dc is because they dont have fun. It is not the peoples fault, you cant change them - they are what they are. If the customer does not enjoy a certain aspect of the game, its up to the devs to fix the problem (or not and suffer the consequences)

Before you start, i am not defending DCs, i never DC and i hate when it happens but pointing out that its the peoples fault is not constructive nore helpful.

It is helpful because you have to identify where the problem is. And here, the problem is with entitled players wanting easy wins and when they can't get their way they have a fit and d/c. That's not a game design problem.

  • No, and everything you said about how they play is utter BS unless you're talking about rank 20's.

  • Resident Evil. We got another boring anti-loop killer, the worst map in the game to date, and more bugs than I've ever seen in this game and many of them aren't even fixed. I mean consoles weren't even usable for the most part and now they're only slightly better. De-sync is still a problem as well as horrible frame rates.

If certain maps bother someone sooo much - they have just as many map offerings appear in their web as others - use them. Instead of complaining that you get sent to X Y Z maps - use those offerings in your inventory. Everyone has the ability to affect where the match happens, but people would rather make hyperbolic claims on the forums instead of actually doing anything in game about it.

Oh no! Not a little hyperbole! However will anyone grasp the intention of my post?!

Seriously though, you're too eager to dismiss the whole point of my post. Certain map offerings are played far more than others and it makes the game boring. Having to play a counter map offering or a sacrificial ward every time prevents players from being able to use any of the other offerings that are also clogging up the bloodweb. I'd rather use a blood point offerings rather than a defensive map offering, and I think most people would agree.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Why dont you use Map Offerings then, which are different from those you mentioned?

Nothing wrong with burning a MacMillan or Autohaven, just to have a decent Map.

Personally I prefer the randomness of it. Just pick your survivor/killer and your build and let fate handle the rest.

Said like a true spirit main, keep it up! That challenge would be a reasonable proof of Spirit actually having any counterplay, and the amount of people who dare to try and prove it shows how true this statement is in reality. And of course Spirit mains are so afraid of BHVR nerfing their ez-win factory they will keep avoiding this sensitive topic.

You're trying soooo hard to be antagonistic. You aren't going to hurt anyone's feelings here so why not relax and try to have a real discussion?

Scott's challenge is a ridiculous challenge. 5 minutes in a 1v1 isn't realistic for what would happen in a real match. However, if any killer can be run for 5 minutes that shows either the killer needs a buff or survivors need a nerf. Then again, Scott isn't looking for evidence. He's looking to confirm his bias and try to get Spirit nerfed. He lead the charge for her first set of nerfs and that wasn't good enough for him, so he set up a challenge that would always lead to him being able to claim Spirit needs a nerf.

  • If I had to smell Clown, Hag, Bubba, Blight, or The Twins I'd uninstall the game and burn my Xbox.

  • I would like to see the real stats for killer pick rates at red ranks. As far as I can tell the whole "it's only Nurse, Spirit, and Blight at red ranks" is nothing but an exaggeration. I don't notice those 3 any more or less than I have at any other rank. I'd say I face more Wraiths, Deathslingers, Nemeses, and Bubbas by far than Nurse, Spirit, or Blight.

Solos shouldn't have to use perks, items, or offerings for information that SWF get for free and this being the case perpetuates the lack of balance in this game.

Survivors already have enough going in their favor. There's absolutely no reason you can't bring the already existing item with you that does exactly what you want. There are more than enough ways to make up for not bringing in a toolbox or med-kit.

Still remember seeing people cry on here because they gave her a vault animation it was hilarious back then

Be honest though. People weren't complaining that she was given a vault animation. It's that she originally had an awesome looking unique vault animation, then they removed it, and when they gave it back to her they changed it to the standard vault animation for all short killers and it looks dumb for her.

  • I seriously doubt the next killer is going to be another RE character. It just wouldn't make sense. I think they would have made a huge deal out of having their very first licensed chapter with 2 killers releasing, especially if they were from RE and for the 5th anniversary, rather than releasing them in 2 separate chapters.

No, she requires 0 skill to play. She is simply an enhanced M1 killer and can create misconception simply by standing.

Spoken like someone who has never truly played as her.

  • Spirit is fine. People refuse to learn to play against her. The cry that she doesn't have counterplay but you can literally find video after video demonstrating how to play against her. Spirit regularly loses.

People complain she doesn't have "consistent" counterplay. No killer has consistent counterplay.

This is main problem with the game being balanced around middle-low ranks. Survivors are carried by a ton of 2nd chance perks additional Info from SWF groups so mediocre players are tricked into thinking they're godlike. Then they meet a stronger killer being played well and suddenly they're lack of skill becomes apparent. Then they run to the forums or other social media and cry "omg Spirit op, no counterplay, plz nerf".

  • @Huge_Bush said:

Well, you took that risk. I'd would do the same as that David. It's boring just sitting on the ground, so I'll just do my best to hide while laughing maniacally to myself!

Also, the most painful experience in this game is getting hooked and seeing the auras of my teammates, where one is hiding behind a rock, another is just moon walking in circles and the third is urban evading around the edges of the map.

It's boring to sit on the ground so you ensure you'll have to sit there longer?

  • @SirGando said:

is spirit still illegal? after all, they nerfed stridor. I see more people complaining about trickster now but im still not sure.

Spirit had a bug where she can't hear footsteps while phasing. That bug paired with iron will, or just a healthy survivor, makes her nearly unplayable atm. So people aren't complaining about her so much right now.

  • Just make it so survivors can't fully body block a killer. Add a knock back feature where a survivor can slow down a killer but, but colliding with the killer causes them to be knocked back and stumble for a few seconds, reducing their movement speed by 10% or 15% until the stumble is over.

The fact we get cross progress on Steam, Stadia and Switch makes it pretty obvious this is indeed all on Microsoft and Sony.

Doubtful. There's probably a fee for having cross progression due to the likely of lost sales on consoles and BHVR just doesn't want to pay it.

And as lauraa said, on Xbox you can save your progress on console then go play the same game through the Xbox app on your PC and all of your progress is still there since it's the same Xbox Live/Microsoft account. Dead by Daylight is the only game I know of that doesn't allow this. And having cross-progression between games on Xbox Game Pass for console and Xbox Game Pass for PC is one of the main features that Game Pass offers.. Which to me all but proves it's a BHVR issue.

  • @Afius said:

I don't think short killers can really reach the bar on what people want

It's hard to think highly of them.

  • Good lord. This whole thread is a testament to the toxic entitled mentality that runs rampant in the survivor community. "Play the way I like or else!"

  • Look for this feature if we ever have an F13 chapter.

  • If you're on PS5 without crossplay, you probably aren't seeing as many hackers as you think you are.

The counterplay is magic. Only me and you can see it.

And I believe that Spirit not hearing footsteps is intentional, unless you've seen otherwise.

As far as I know they haven't said it was intentional which likely means it's a bug, and this game is notorious for sound bugs. There's no telling for sure though.

  • Currently Iron Will totally counters Stridor and there's a massive bug which prevents her from being able to hear survivors footsteps. If Spirit is still giving you problems right now, it's due to your own playstyle or lack of skill/experience.

You should very rarely fall for the standstill mind game. If that's working on you, you're being too predictable. The fact that it seems to work on you multiple times shows you aren't changing on improving the way you play.

Spirit is fine as is. Her add-ons are fine as is. In fact, her add-ons are exactly what add-ons should be for every killer. They enhance her power or her passive abilities and don't have ridiculous detrimental effects attached to them. They're the only full set of add-ons in the game that make sense for a killer to have.

According to this EVERY killer is better than Nurse as well. Its also an All Ranks choice not purely red ranks.

Nurse is an exception in every way.

It doesn't matter that this isn't solely red ranks because the game isn't balanced around red ranks.

Regardless, it proves she's far from the worst killer in the game. It doesn't mean she's totally fine as is. But she's still a great killer.

her event is coming soon please buff my piggy girl :( She's currently the WORST killer in the game being a purely M1 killer with a power that may or may not actually be effective. Her ambush hurts her in chase more often than not at most loops, she crouches slower than Ghostface and with a MUCH more punishing time to get up and movement speed penalty, on top of all this her main power the bear traps have a potential to be completely negated if the first box is the correct one for survivors. I'd love to see her buffed/changed because I do love Amanda and her cosmetics along with the beartraps however I can't play her in such a state since I play in red ranks.

Pig has a higher kill rate than most killers, including Spirit. Why in the world would you think she's the worst killer in the game?

  • The problem is, and always has been, when the game was made the devs didn't have the foresight to think people would want to play together so they made the game for solos only. Survivors were meant to have a huge lack of information and coordination. They were forced to add SWF because survivors would constantly dodge lobbies until they got a lobby with their friends. But for some reason that God only knows, they failed rebalance the game, and they've been extremely resistant to it ever since.

  • Part of the frustration comes from so much being out of your control. Survivors can play perfectly but still get shutdown by a deathslinger being able to shoot over a loop.or a Nemisis being able to hit you from the opposite side of the pallet when you're 2 meters away from it.

And for killers, a gen can pop before you even have time to cross the map to get to it, and 2 more can pop right after it during your first chase. And with the overabundance if 2nd chance perks survivors have, at that point the game is basically a guaranteed loss.

  • @GannTM said:

Sounds bugs in this game are insane. My advice to you when playing Spirit is to just play her in short bursts when sounds aren’t working.

To make things worse they don't seem to be in any rush to fix them. It was an issue during the PTB and they pushed it through anyway. Still no hot fix for it. And the issue with survivors making no sounds while on the ground has been in the game for years, with no fix in sight.

  • @AGM said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2399852#Comment_2399852

You swung too late. Easy as that. The issue is the false feedback killers get, not really the new pallet system.

Before though it was the other way around. Survivors looked like they were out of the reach of the killer, when really threw the pallet too late. The new system was supposed to fix that. Instead it moved the problem from being on the survivor's side to being on the killer's side. Now the killer believes they were in distance to attack, they get the feedback the attack was successful, then suddenly their stunned and the attack was invalidated. The new system is causing just as much confusion as the previous system did.

  • It's cheating, plain and simple. They're altering the game in an unintended way to gain an unintended advantage. BhVR may not be banning for it right now, but it's still a cheat.

  • Yeah. BHVR doesn't give you a good choice here. You can keep playing which isn't fun for you. You can d/c which is bannable and also.had a penalty, or you can ask which is also banable but not as likely as being reported or banned for d/c.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

You're just being paranoid. I don't think the devs have it in them to make an algorithm that advanced seeing how bad their matchmaking system is.

Ok, this isnthe best argument against it. But I swear when I have the deplete medkit challenges I only get Plagues.

  • That's not 3 seconds worth of frames. Maybe 1 at the most.

  • If BHVR is smart that's what they'd do.

  • He needs to have his all seeing add-ons removed/reworked, the silent bell needs to be removed/reworked, and he needs a cool down timer for cloaking.

  • I think it's a bug. A lot of sounds are broken right now.

  • It would help immensely if they'd make a gen regress at the same speed as ruin when kicked, and if they got rid of gen tapping by adding a skill check like you get from the yellow glyphs.

  • They could at least go through the process to have cross-progression approved. That are plenty of other games that do it, no problem. I can't imagine why progress from Xbox Live for console doesn't carry over to Xbox Live for PC. That's one of the main features of having an Xbox Live account, your progress in any game is saved and playable on any device that can access Xbox Live.

  • Nobody uses real counterplay anymore anyway. They just throw pallets early and hold W for distance, then repeat. Sadly, I think the days of mindgaming and true counterplaying are gone.

  • Those skill checks were actually fun! I hope we get more like those!

  • Clown, Ghostface, Nurse, Twins, Freddy, & Pyramid Head.

  • The change seems to have also made it so your hit swings through a survivor before they vault a pallet/as they vault a pallet. I just played a match on Midwich that I wound up throwing while chasing a Laurie to test it after the first time it happened. Every time she vaulted a pallet and I swung for her my weapon went through her and hit the pallet, even though on my screen she was clearly at the beginning of the vault. This game is somehow getting better and worse at the same time.

1 … 12 13 14 15 16 … 20
