Never going to happen unfortunately. The last event we got was an old recycled one. They are done with cool engaging events. They will add dlc after dlc until the game dies

That seems to be how everyone feels. It really shows that BHVR has let the community down too often when it comes to optimization and bug fixes.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Those are some solid ideas, but i don't really know if they can fix all of the performance issues people have with the game in three months. I feel like the issue may be a lot more complicated than people think.

True. Though I think it would give them closer to 6 months. Either way though, it would have to help to some sort of noticeable degree while also being fun for the players.

I would love for a game health chapter, along with some sort of an event. The issue is, BHVR has no reason to do this as long as people keep buying cosmetics for the game.

The boycott went nowhere. The game peaked during the Resident Evil chapter. As much as I want this kind of chapter, but unless people show they want it through their wallets, it won't happen.

Tha failed boycott is part of the reason I was thinking about this. People will never get on board with it. There's a large portion of the community that would never even hear about a boycott being put together. So I think incentives for BHVR to fix the game while also making some extra money, pulling inner players, and even bringing back veterans is an all around win.

Uh... facecamping mandates genrushing. You can't do totems when the killer is facecamping, you don't have enough time.

Also, survivors can't keep equipping perks to patch up holes in gameplay design, they only have four slots. Perks that are subsequently bemoaned by killers for being a stale meta.

Breaking totems isn't a flaw in game design though. It's the secondary objective. You can't make the case for NOED being OP when you have all the tools you need to make sure it never activates but you refuse to use them.

  • The only thing Otz's experiment proved is that survivors would rather demand the ge be changed for them instead of just doing their secondary objective.

They have Detective's Hunch, Small Game, Counterforce, and maps to help them find and break totems. Otz was camping the whole game. So the survivors had all the time in the world to do anything they wanted while the killer was literally standing still by a hook, and they still chose to only do gens and try for saves.

NOED doesn't need to change. Survivors do.

Very stupid comparison. Invalidating another players entire experience just for your own ego is not cool. It is never necessary to 4k, the only purpose of killing all 4 survivors is to feel as though you have "truly" won the match. You've still won if 2 or 3 of them die. To effectively waste 3-4 minutes of another players time just so you can get all 4 of them is extremely toxic and 100% reportable. Not only is that bannable, but its straight up cruel.

I'm sure you always let the killer kill you if your team is about to get a 4 man escape. I mean, it would be pretty scummy to waste the killers time like that. Imagine how boring and unfun it is to be denied all of your objectives. It's never necessary for all 4 survivors to escape after all. I mean, the only reason you would escape when the other 3 survivors are also escaping would be to feed your ego and make yourself feel like you truly won.

  • No. Map Offerings should be removed or be killer only. Survivors have too much in their bloodweb already and have a higher potential of being "abused". And if killers start abusing them they should be removed for them as well.

  • One match I'm wondering if I accidentally wandered into a tournament match, and the next I get matched with people that've never held a controller before.

A: be more forthcoming with information

This has nothing to do with leaks. They withhold information on new chapters and so on to build hype. This is the rule, not the exception.

B: acknowledge the leaks when they happen and give us whatever teaser or other information they have.

That makes no sense. A leak is essentially revealing a secret. Why should they just spill all of them afterward? That'd ruin the whole thing.

They could be more forthcoming with information by simply saying something like "between chapters 21 and 22 we'll be releasing cosmetics for "x" characters, a map rework, a bloodhunt event, and "x" killers/perks will be receiving adjustments". That takes a lot of the information leaders put out away from them.

There's no reason not to go ahead and release official info once it's been leaked. Take the new chapter for example. BHVR made a mistake (similar to a leak) and revealed the next chapter. That took away a lot of the hype for the full trailer reveal. They could have saved it though by releasing the full trailer early and included some information about the killer and perks, and announced the official PTB date so people could spend the weekend speculating about how to use the killer and perks and how they'll work with existing game mechanics. But instead most of the discussion around it faded over the weekend except for the FNAFers that are in denial. The only exception would be of they're contractually forbidden from releasing information.

  • It wouldn't be such a big deal if BHVR would learn to A: be more forthcoming with information and B: acknowledge the leaks when they happen and give us whatever teaser or other information they have.

  • Survivor DC -Why?

Started a killer match. Survivor DCs 25 seconds into game after getting downed. They literally had 4 2nd chance perks. Why run them if you're going to DC at your first chance to use them? Already running a Haddonfield offering too.

  • Kills don't necessarily matter. If I get a 4k, but only because the survivors were overly altruistic during endgame, but for everything before that I got gen rushed, they "abused" loops, they all had 2 or 3 second chance perks, and I just generally had a miserable time then it feels pretty meh. But one the other had if I'm getting downs, keeping gens regressing, winning chases, getting plenty of hooks, and it still results in a 0k then I'm probably going to be pretty happy because I felt like I had a chance to win.

I think most people feel that way too. When you have absolutely no chance to win it feels terrible. When you already have to complete more objectives as 1 player than the team of 4 players do but they can stack up on enough 2nd chances that you basically have to get enough hits/downs to win the game 2 or 3 times it feels hopeless. When you want to experiment with lesser perks and add-ons or a lower tier killer but you know the only way you'll get them to work is if you randomly get paired with chill survivors it's discouraging.

Usually we dump on the devs here, but in this case I'm inclined to think it's Sony & Microsoft holding this up. The devs know Cross Progression is badly wanted, and they say they're working on it and I believe them on this one.

From the looks of things it is finally coming to Switch soon. As for Xbox or PlayStation, it may never happen sadly.

I'm confident that it's a BHVR issue. Moat other games that are available on Xbox for console and Xbox for PC have cross progression. And by most, I mean I can't think of a single game that doesn't but they might exist and I'm not aware of it. One of the biggest selling points for having Xbox Game Pass for console and PC is cross progression and even though DbD is available on Game Pass for both, it has no cross progression. It would be in Microsoft's interest to allow it. So I really can't see Microsoft being the reason for no cross progression at all. It must be BHVR.

I'm actually surprised that some of you disagree with me. You actually would rather a gen regress back to nothing just to come and unhook you right then and there. Obviously skilled survivors (such as myself) make calculated plays and risks in the game.

If I get off the gen to come save you and find out the killer has sloppy butcher and then he/she returns to the hook, he has free pressure, could possibly re-down you, and also doesn't have to worry about the gen that was at 80% popping anymore, making the first 2-3 minutes of the match completely pointless because you go down 10 seconds into a chase

If you feel the need to call yourself skilled, you probably aren't.

  • If we can't get the ring, Spirit should at least get a similar skin.

  • @Ruma said:

what if this is a MASSIVE red herring? EVERYTHING could be a massive herring from them, even the flower scene and the self leaked ,,Hellraiser teaser" message.

These devs are extremly good at these things and i am still not sure if we should trust this.

I think that would be a terrible decision on their part. People enjoy clue hunting and some put a lot of time/effort into it. People start getting their hopes up the closer it is to being solved. Pulling the rug out from under them with a big "HAHA none of the clues meant anything & the chapter is actually..." just wouldn't be fun for anyone. A little misdirection or clues that could have double meanings here and there is fine. But making it all pointless would just be a stupid decision.

Why are you parroting that? The argument is that irl movie release date has no place being in that teaser, but it's still there for some reason? How many horror icons we have in the game now, like 5? How many of them cared about showing original movie release date at any point of their existance and pre-existance in dbd?

Old VCR's displayed the date at the top like that when you turned them on, until the tape started playing. That's why you also see the "SLP" in the bottom left and "Play" in the top left.

Well, they just announced their choice, it's hellraiser. What's funny is that they decided to put 1987 on TV for absolutely no purpose other than to spite FNaF fans. I have no idea why they had to clash 2 franchises with each other and upset one of the community's(FNaF being the bigger one as well), but it is what it is. Hopefully it backfires on them in some manner and they'll never even consider doing something like that again.

They in no way put the 2 franchises against each other. People wanted it to be Springtrap so they desperately tried to make the clues fit him. For people that actually waited for the clues to start adding up, the evidence only ever pointed to Hellraiser.

  • Hellraiser was released in 1987. I can't make out the images yet. (In before "the bite of '87")

  • 2021-08-12 (2).png

  • This came from DbD Japan. I think the "H" actually is a hint now.

    Screenshot_20210811-122700_Twitter.jpg

  • S,A, & R are the only confirmed letters. RT could have just been "retweet" since it was a retweet and they posted the red herring. The "H" was dismissed by BHVR and they said it's always been part of the saloon. The double "i" doesn't fit in with the way the other letters have been revealed. It comes from a tweet with 2 🤡 🤡 and "ii" is another way of saying two. And all of other letters have been random single letters, while the "i" was in the word "Ciircus". So it's unclear if the "i" is part of the letter hints or if it means something else.

  • Screenshot_20210811-103259_Gallery.jpg

So I was thinking about this image. There are 2 clowns in the tweet, and "ii" is another was to say "2".

  • Keep in mind this might not be the name of the killer. It could be a phrase, location, ability, anything really.

Edit* The "i" is suspicious as well. S, A, & R have all been single letters that stand out on their own. The "i" was part of a sign and much more cryptic.

No what I gave you are legit things a spirit would do to get around all your counters, and Ill admit the 50/50 coin flip analogy is a pretty bad one since its pretty much never 50/50 when the spirit has a significant amount more knowledge about the situation then the survivor does when she phases. The reason people use it because when "looping" a spirit if feels completely random whether or not the spirit will hit you or not and if you are playing her correctly you only use small bursts of phase in chase so you will get hit eventually and usually pretty quickly as the better the spirit the less likely they are to make a mistake.

People have tested almost every one of these counters against the highest level survivors in the game and they almost never work, does it work against meh spirits sure hell it'd probably work on me I'm terrible at directional audio.

And you know what you have just demonstrated? a complete lack of understanding in how spirit plays at higher levels you can list off all the "counters" you want and say "you just want to win all the time" but we both know that's not what I'm saying and if you do think that's what I'm saying then boy howdy do I have a shocker for you, I barely play survivor, its like 10% of my play time maybe a little more or less depending on if I'm doing tome challenges or not. I also don't even play spirit the reason I want her nerfed is because by all accounts that I've seen I feel she needs it, her nerf wouldn't even affect me in anyway.

So you don't play Spirit and don't play enough survivor to actually have experience with trying to counter her. But your here and ready to tell us how none of them work. Your opinion is irrelevant since you have no actual experience on the topic. It sounds like you've watched some streams and decided to go with their opinion. All killers will be able to mitigate the effectiveness of counters. That doesn't mean they don't work or aren't reliable.

You're either flat out wrong or lying about counters not working at the highest level. Spirit regularly gets stomped on and teams like Oracle and others (I don't keep up with their names) have said she has counterplay, and demonstrated it. IIRC one team has said she has counterplay but they see how casual players might have a hard time with her. But that isn't the same as saying she can't be countered. Then there's all of the streamers that have repeatedly shown how to counter her and agree that she's fine as is.

  • @unluckycombo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2413937#Comment_2413937

    ...Did you read my post?

I will kindly reiterate, but I do not mind Killers having strong add-ons.

However, Spirit literally has add-ons that do more then intended, making them broken. To add to that, she is already a Killer with a strong power, who I do not believe needs add-ons this strong to boot. I've been playing since Legion release- so trust me, I remember old Spirit add-ons. I remember being excited when Spirit got a vaulting animation, since she went way too long without one.

However, in that time DBD has changed a lot. Nurse doesn't have insane add-ons anymore, and is brought to a better level, and there's no reason they can't give another round of add-on adjustments to Spirit to make her similar. A strong Killer doesn't need that insane of an add-on combination, especially when she's so easy to learn compared to her competition. And no Killer should have add-ons that straight up don't function properly- whether they be giving unintended buffs or unintended nerfs, like some of Spirit's add-ons or that one Freddy Iri Add-On that was bugged that I'm not sure if they've fixed yet.

Uh, her add-ons work exactly as intended. That's why the devs kept them during her rework. They enhance her power. That's what add-ons do. And her strongest add-on comes with a massive downside. As said above, everyone was happy with her add-ons post rework until a couple of streamers said they were OP. Now people are parroting that because it's popular to hate on Spirit for some reason. Like I said, she received every add-on nerf that people asked for.

All killers should have add-ons that are the same caliber as Spirit's. She and Doctor are the only 2 killers I can think of that most of their add-ons are usable and effective. They aren't gimmicky, they don't have a negative effect just for the sake of it, they enhance their abilities in a meaningful way, and you can choose from a variety of different effects.

  • Why was there no mention of Spirit not being able to hear footsteps while phasing?

  • Not at all. Second chance perks are anything that negates mistake the survivor made. So DH let's you evade a hit or dash to a pallet when you looped too long. Adrenaline gives you a free health state. BT gives you a temp health state for a risky unhook. Unbreakable gives you a free recovery after being downed. DS gives you a free escape if you get downed shortly after being unhooked and couldn't run the killer for even a few seconds. You get the idea.

  • @gilgamer said:

Pretty much all of these can be countered by a spirit with a good headset, and the flashlight thing might work once then she can just turn around and again use her ears. Pre dropping pallets work but I already said that works and if you do that the whole match you will very likely leave the whole map a dead zone before your team finishes the gens unless you are a very coordinated team or got extremely lucky with how many pallets or god windows you get. Spine chill can be worked around if they suspect you have it as its not super difficult to deduce and even then you aren't likely to have it every game so I still wouldn't call that consistent, the new IW does work well against her now that stridor doesn't affect it in anyway but still you can hear footsteps, (normally I think there is a bug that you cant hear footsteps while in phase but I'm not gonna take a bug into account unless bhvr comes out and says its now base kit). Immersion is never a guarantee and it doesn't take a whole lot of skill to put on blendette and again if the killer is running BBQ or any other good tracking perk that's unlikely to work anyways, and I'm not even sure what fast vaulting a window for "deception" means.

    @Exxodus21

You have just demonstrated why the problem is with survivors. I gave you a list if counters and you flippantly dismissed them. It's not about getting better or learning counters, it's about demanding nerfs so you don't have to try. A counter is not something that is always 100% effective. It should be as close to 50/50 as possible. Which is funny because most complaints about Spirit are people saying "it's a 50/50 chance of working or not". So exactly balanced then. How is that a problem? Unless what you really want is an overwhelming advantage.

Fast vaulting a window for deception = slow vault from one side and immediately fast vault back so the Spirit phases around the structure, or vice versa. It works with pallets too.

What consistent counterplay does she have that doesnt involve the spirit just messing up?

You can flashlight her to determine if she's fake phasing. You can muddy your scratchmarks by doing 360's. You can double back of she's chasing you in phase. You can block her line of sight at any tall structure. You can reverse drop pallets. You can pre-drop pallets. You can slow vault windows. You can fast vault windows for deception. Iron Will helps counter her tracking in phase. Spine Chill will alert you even if she's in phase. You can play more immersive to avoid being caught. You can run early to get a head start. I'm sure there's more I haven't thought of.

  • I just want individual killer ranks.

  • You could definitely hear footsteps before.

  • I was trying to do a search to see if there was a clown in Candyman. This came up and is all over the first search page. Probably a stretch though:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2415017#Comment_2415017

You say that yet even at the highest levels of DBD the only "counter" is just dropping pallets as soon as you get to them. Like the problem isn't that she cant be beat, its that she has no reliable counter play in chase. Death slinger has a similar issue but he has no map pressure so its less of a problem. People don't want to face a killer who you have to just flip a coin on a mind game with almost no info and hope she f*cks up

There's far more counterplay than just dropping pallets early. That isn't always a good thing to do either. And mindgames against her really aren't anymore of a coin flip than any mindgame.

What do you consider to be "reliable" counterplay?

  • @gilgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2414960#Comment_2414960

this is a forum people will literally complain about everything, but that's not what I'm talking about, there has been a large outcry of dissent towards spirit for almost her entire lifespan as a killer and now that people are absolutely done with her now its the people who wont "adapts" fault and not bhvr for not doing anything. You think she is fun to play hell you can even think she is fun to play against but you have to recognize the reason why so many don't

You can't say they haven't done anything about her in "so long." Relatively speaking she hasn't been in the game that long and it's only been about a year since she and her add-ons received some major nerfs. The only nerf she didn't get at that time was having a phase animation added because the devs intend for her power activation to be a secret.

The argument about Spirit having "no counterplay" is probably the best example of survivors refusing to adapt or change their playstyle based on killer that there is. There are so many videos showing how to counter her. People on the forum describe how to counter her. She's barely in the top 5 killers for kill rate. Freddy, Doctor, Bubba, and Pig all have a higher kill rate than she does and Myers is only half a percentage point from surpassing her. There is absolutely no information to prove that the problem is anything other that survivors playing poorly.

DBD is the only game I know that is so horribly unbalanced with most scenarios and people are just like "if you dont like it, you're the problem"

Because most of the time it's true. People complain about the most innocuous things.

  • I think silent bell is a pretty big problem, especially when combined with the speed boost from decloaking. And yeah the Aura reading is busted too and needs a big change, of not fully removed.
