  • The really sad part is the people that were complaining before will still be complaining after.

    -For the People

-Making a locker play in chase while having Inner Strength active

-Being given a syringe by the unhooked

-Insanely fast heal from someone running a healing build/We'll Make It

Do you still stand by your point?

Yes. With the exception of For the People all of those take time. Even then, you are a fully healthy survivor at that point and have all of the advantages of it.

  • Anyone saying Spirit might as well be holding up a sign that says they aren't good at survivor

There's literally no reason for this. There honestly isn't even a reason for DS to deactivate upon self-heals, either, while we're at it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2341765#Comment_2341765

Where DS is currently, I see no reason for it to deactivate in end game. It's basically the only good use for DS at this point because it's the only time you'll actually be able to use it to get away from a tunneler lmaooo

Obviously, yeah, it's a losing situation for the killer because he can't avoid the DS if they're close enough to crawl out before it deactivates, but as long as DS remains a single use perk that is active a maximum of 2 minutes per trial while still having slugging counterplay/doesn't REALLY stop tunneling (outside of end game), I think the end game stuff is what it is and still is fairly situational compared to how old DS was.

Of course there's a reason for it. It's an anti-tunnel perk. If you had time to be fully healed, you weren't being tunnled.

  • It should also deactivate if the survivor is fully healed. Other than that it's perfect.

  • Keys are only a problem because they give an undeserved win to the survivors and an undeserved loss to the killer.

SWF are only a problem because so much of the game is still balanced around all 4 survivors being solo. People don't seem to understand how much power is in little phrases like "Ruin's at shack" and "Killer's on me by main building". It's more than enough information to tilt the balance of the game.

  • @MeltingPenguins said:

I just had 7 (seven) matches in a ROW that all went the same: killer's sole approach is to slug at the start of the game and then hook or let bleed out.

Now, I know these were all new players and that they 'learned' this probably from some BNFogwhisperer, but... this has gotten excessive.

I can understand when people defend things like tunneling, slugging and camping when it's rare, but 7 matches in a row... all from different people...

going AFK is bannable because it 'bars people from playing normally'. so with this now getting more common, how is that 'playing normally' (as in people actually get to do their objectives and end with at least 10k points)

Are we all going to ignore the fact that this absolutely did not happen? 7 matches in a row? Definitely not.

  • It's way more common than you'd expect. There are websites and forums dedicated to helping people do it.

It's always little things too, like the killer knowing exactly which locker to go to, a swing going straight through a survivor with no damage, an insta-heal, increased movement speed, etc. Everytime I've noticed something weird, without fail that player has the globe symbol next to their name so I assume they had to have been on PC.

  • Basically what everyone else is saying. The next gen consoles aren't even in stocks right now. People could move to PC but BHVR hasn't implemented cross-progression yet and most people won't want to start a brand new account and lose all of their cosmetics and progress, not to mention having to repurchase all of the DLC.

No there are only two lit totems so one of them is undying and one of them is ruin do the maths it's 50% chance

Read the description of Undying. If you cleanse another Hex totem that Hex replaces Undying, meaning Undying will always be the first Hex to go.

  • I think survivors should have something similar ro scratch marks but not quite the same. It makes sense for the killer to see them because hunting is their specialty. So give survivors some other clue as to whether or not another survivor is in the area.

  • @nursewannabe said:

Terrible perk, don't run it. If you run ruin + undying you have a 50% chance of them cleansing ruin first, and undying after.

Run haunted grounds instead: you have only a 33% chance of them cleansing ruin first

    😎

That's impossible. If you run undying it will always be the first perk cleansed. That's how it works.

  • Spirit is fine the way she is, add-ons and all. People refuse to change their playstyle based on which killer they're facing, then cry the killer was oppressive or boring/unfun.

Personally I love going against good Nurses and Spirits because you have to actually think about what you're doing and stay ready to run or hide at a moment's notice. And every chase is more involved than simply running in circles around a pallet until you throw it and run to the next pallet to run circles around.

  • @Lord_Tony said:

only killers should have map offerings

it is their domain, it is theirs to protect and the killer should be given the advantage of picking where to go

    100% agree with this.

  • Nope. The game is nearly unplayable as killer on console and it isn't much better as survivor. The fact that they aren't pulling double shifts and working 7 day weeks when the game is in this state tells you they don't care that much. They got the payday from the chapter release and they're assuming, rightfully so, that anyone that leaves because of the bugs will come back next chapter or mid-chapter.

  • @ProfessorDunwich said:

Buy more chapters and level the characters? That means more garbage perks to pollute your blood web, especially if you play Killer, since there is actually a reason to level many of them, as opposed to your Survivor of choice, which are skins at the end of the day.

The solution? I propose the ability to deactivate certain perks from appearing in the blood web. Sure, let Monstrous Shrine be exempt because it is a default perk. But why am I forced to have Mindbreaker in the blood webs of all my Killers because I made the mistake of leveling up Demo?

I think they should eliminate perk tiers. There's still a ton of blood points to spend without having to go through 3 tiers of every perk, especially when the differences between the tiers aren't that great.

No, there shouldn't be any bans for what you consider to be bad manners in a game.

They aren't cheating, they aren't using exploits. It's absurd to say people should be banned for playing the way you don't like.

Not "playing the way you don't like." I don't care about camping, genrushing, flashlight saves, whatever. I mean things like slugging and refusing to hook people without a reason, teabagging, & being a jackass in post-game chat. Read through 90% of the threads here and you can see how terrible it all is for the game's health.

Is this a joke? They should be banned for what? Doing things that are in the game? Crouching too fast? Clicking a flashlight? Working on gen with a teammate?

BM'ing from either side should receive a ban. It's unhealthy for the game and a large reason why people quit.

Killers are playing horrible so I don’t blame survivors. I had a rank 1 basement camping huntress followed by a tunneling spirit, rank 2. No thanks. Events supposed to be semi fun but these people are unhinged.

And survivors are being sure to give the killer plenty of hooks, to avoid genrushing, and to only use offerings for balanced maps.

  • I think all 2nd chance perks need to have an activation requirement that's based on the survivors own actions and not solely on the actions of other players or the progress of the match (adrenaline).

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/180360/for-survivors-what-is-considered-actual-skill-without-relying-on-perks

    *** LOOPING ***

if you can keep the Killer behind you the whole match because you know where are all the pallets, plus do 365, plus receive no damage or max. 1 hit, then you are SKILLED cuz you are god-like looper, other than looping there is not much other facts that makes you skilled as surv

Example of famous survs at looping:

    • Ochido rank S+
    • Monto rank B
    • Truetalent rank A
    • Ayrun rank S
    • ZubatLEL rank S
    • No0b3 rank A
    • Jendenise rank C

Orchido is probably the worst example of a good survivor.

  • As soon as survivors learn the trial isn't only about escaping their skill level starts to increase. That's when you start seeing survivors that bring team based builds instead of second chance perks. They start learning when to play stealthy and when to run for it. They seem to keep track of the killer and where their teammates might be even without comms. They would rather run a good jungle gym rather than run around an unsafe loop in hopes of buying enough time to make it to the map's center building or the shack.

But the BIGGEST show of skill is when survivors change their play style when they face killers that aren't just M1 killers. The biggest reason survivors think killers like Spirit and Nurse (and whatever killer is OP for that week) have no counterplay is because they play against them in the same way they would a Myers or a Trapper.

Its trash. Was trash before and now its even bigger trash since your item disappears.

Then again just pull the old put your item on at 10 seconds or switch chars at 7 secs and play with no offering, since the new patch makes it to where if you char switch last minute your offering no longer works.

This simple but effect tactic works 95% of the time since if the killer doesnt see any items would be a waste of a perk slot.

All survivor's should just do this. If your bringing a flashlight or key you should 100% of the time use this method since killers hate those items the most.

Also a great way to avoid lightborn since most killers wont run it if they dont see any flashlights.

Hey Devs, this is the exact reason why killers should have an extra 15 seconds to make changes after survivors are locked in. It's even more needed now that killers are locked into the character they joined the lobby with.

  • It's hard to take Scott's argument seriously when he literally calls other people's arguments against why killers are considered boring "childish". It shows he isn't really open for discussion.

People are really blowing this one out of proportion. Like he said just play the game, you’ll get it in afew games assuming you’re team can do gens even if someone plays chicken with you to leave you should still get 1-2 each game.

Well that was my 9th'ish game and so far I've been able to get 2 people out before me. It may be a solo que issue. Just getting with a team that plays well or at least attempts to do gens is hard enough. Then you have to get them escape instead of hook bombing and winding up as a sacrifice. IDK, I guess it just feels too grindy in a way with too much of the "challenge" being out of the player's control.

  • @Xbob42 said:

If it's the challenge I'm thinking of, it's not even required in a single match. It's just three total.

Just... stealth around at the end and let everyone else escape. If you play the game totally normally it'll just happen. It's really not that hard.

I know it's not in a single match. Just tired of getting matched with sirvivors that won't leave a match.

  • @Katee_Main said:

What's so weird to me is how they say ranks dont mean much, but as soon as I get in a match I know if the killer is red rank or not. I wish everything would kinda stay the way it is. But I'm sure mmr will be ok as long as they use the data that has been taken over the last month or so.

    @johnmwarner said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1494728#Comment_1494728

I don’t wanna make this survivor but killer, but a lot of people who say ranks don’t matter focus on survivor. Generally red rank killers are pretty good.

Red rank survivors can be a mish mash of really good players who know when save, know how to loops etc... and that blendettes self caring in the corner against sloppy butcher

I agree it probably has more to do with survivors. I can't count the number of times I've given "baby" survivors a break just to see in post-game they were rank 2-4. They're a terrible survivor but got carried to red ranks by a swf team.

It's good for killer to because of the individual killer rankings. If manage to get to red ranks while leveling up a couple of killers Freddy, Ghost Face, and Doctor but then decide to try Nurse, Clown, Huntress, etc you're gonna have a bad time.

  • Totally unrealistic. They didn't teabag after pallet stuns.

  • Not only is it OP, it's completely backwards. Myers was the one that seemed to always know where Laurie was and watched her from afar. At times it even seemed like he really could see her through walls. She was always oblivious to him unless she physically saw him, and it always after he'd already been watching her. It needs to be completely reworked.

  • Not having cross progression between Xbox and PC is the thing most likely to kill the game for me. I started on Xbox but after playing a few rounds on a nice PC I hated going back to the Xbox and all of it's dropped frames. However I can't justify spending all of that money again to purchase DLC's, cosmetics, and losing all the rift and event cosmetics/items I worked for.

    No, that’s just a redirect.

Thats you not taking responsibility for your “original” answer that strongly implied YOU know the appropriate counter.

You could have just said “I don’t know, but here’s a YouTube link for you that should help” as one example.

Had his original post been about asking for help I would have been glad to give him a link. Instead it was demanding the game change to suit him. Heck, he didn't even ask for a link. He decided to remain willfully ignorant if I didn't give him the exact answer right then.

Also, there isn't a one size fits all answer like he seems to expect, and you imply as well. It's literally learning a different way to play than you do against most killers.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1471499#Comment_1471499

    Right...

So seeing as that’s not really an answer to his question, and a just redirect, you don’t really know do you?

Or are you gonna prove me wrong by ACTUALLY answering his question?

This is the damn problem on these forums. OP is clearly having trouble and frustrations with some things, expresses that, it gets challenged by other forum members, OP asks “what do I do then?”, forum gives a “git gud” or a plethora of other non-answers.

Why are so few interested in providing help, instead of focusing on tearing players down?!

I did provide an answer. I told him to go watch game play videos of how to counter spirit and change his play style.. He refused, demanded I tell him, and said he refused to believe there is a counter. If he can't even be bothered to watch some videos which will cover dozens of times more scenarios than I could ever type out then he isn't actually interested in learning. He just wants everything else to change so he can stay the same.

  • @Hazerino said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1471499#Comment_1471499

no dude, since you claim to know a counter i want you to tell me, because i'm not gonna go out my way to look it up when you seem to know so much yourself. so, until you can explain it, i'm going to assume you don't know what you're talking about

you also said "pallet loops as a crutch" so you told me all i need to know about your stances of this game on the killer side

My stance is it's too easy for survivors to rank up and believe they're good at the game because 70% of the killer roster can be countered by running a loop and throwing a pallet. The remaining 30% require a different skill set and play style. Actually good survivors recognize this and make the adjustments. Mediocre survivors complain about "LaCk oF cOuNtErPlAy" and call everything boring. They follow that up with demands the game be changed for them. You unwillingness to put forth the effort to watch some game video and learn what might work for you shows you have that mindset. What's more baffling is you expect the devs to go through the effort of changing the game for you when you outright refuse to put any effort into researching and playing better.

  • @Hazerino said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1471466#Comment_1471466

so you personally don't know how to do it. kk. if you can't even explain it to me then as far as im concerned there is no counter

You're the one that came in here 😭😭😭 about about killer/perk combos being too tough for you. My advice stands. Do some research and learn to change your play style for different killers. If you want to take the childish stance of believing something doesn't exist unless someone holds your hand and walks you through a process which literally changes depending on all of the circumstances then I'll continue to regard this post as nothing more than a mediocre survivor demanding the game be changed to suit his average skill level.

  • @Hazerino said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1471454#Comment_1471454

that isn't an explanation. i want a play by play. tell me what to do to counter it.

Figure it out for yourself. There's plenty of video out there of people doing it. If you aren't smart enough or skilled enough to do something other than using pallet loops as a crutch you'll never beat high tier killers.

  • @Hazerino said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1471430#Comment_1471430

what? because i'm saying something about killer is busted when it literally is? tell me a stridor spirit has counterplay

    A strider Spirit has counterplay.

  • @Hazerino said:

I mean come on. Do I really need to say anything else? Some examples:

    • Stridor Spirit
    • Pop Freddy
    • Spirit Fury/Enduring Billy
    • Infectious Fright Nurse

Theres a few more I can't think of off the top of my head, but perks like this on these killers is quite literally so unfun. And before anyone comes for my neck I've played about 3k hours on PC of both sides and these perks are quite literally so busted on these killers it's insane. And, I won't reply to anyone doing any whataboutism's on this thread.

Everything about this should be wholly, completely, and totally disregarded.

  • Even of they won't it would be nice if BHVR could verify your existing account and what you have on it, then provide you with codes and BP to spend on the new account to match it as close as possible to the original.

Sony and Microsoft have been at a console war for a while, so having cross progression I don't think is something they want.

For nintendo and PC it makes sense since Switch really isn't a "console" its a blend between a handle held and console so there isn't really any intense competiton.

Right. But DbD through Xbox Game Pass for console and PC don't have anything to do with Sony. They don't even compete with each other. Both connect through the exact same account.

  • My favorites for learning are Otz and Fungoose. My favorites for pure entertainment are Farmer John and Vinc3ntVega because of how much production and comedy they put into their streams and videos.

Unfortunately my least favorite is Tru3. It sucks because he isn't a bad guy. I just don't like how seriously he takes the game. He has a need to get a double pip and gets upset when he doesn't. From time to time he'll run into a survivor that got screwed over by their team or is just meaning around because they've already lost and instead of giving them a break he has to kill them for the double pip. He also thinks every survivor team he faces is made up of 3 or 4 man SWF and each survivor is the "nought point 1% of all survivors"

  • @ClickyClicky said:

To date, being completely honest I still have yet to see a Deathslinger that doesn’t proxy camp.

I dare say you're being a bit untruthful.

  • Can we please stop demanding nerfs instead of asking for buffs or changes to the mechanics that created the need for the current meta?

  • The biggest problem I have with his argument is that it seems to ask for all killers to be countered in the same way. "Survivors want to be able to play against killers using the skills they've already developed." IMO that is what makes the game boring

As a survivor you should be developing several different skill sets in order to counter the wide variety of killers. Sometimes that skill is going to be playing more of an immersive playstyle. If every killer is countered by running to the closest loop, running in circles and when the killer gets too close throw a pallet, then run to the next loop and repeat, the game will become stale. In all honesty I'd rather see the number of pallets reduced and have more tiles added that actually use player's skill. The more skilled a player is at running a jungle gym and mind gaming the more effecting the tile will be as a counter. This approach would work against all current killers.

Another problem I have with his argument is that it calls for more nerfs to unique killers rather than looking to address why those killers are chosen and effective. The reason seems to be they are a response to the survivor playstyle.

When new killers are developed their unique power seems to be in response to the current survivor meta. When survivors are playing out in the open with no fear of killers we got Ghost Face that could stalk and insta-down. When gen pressure was and lack of a second objective was becoming a big problem we got a killer that could place portals around the map which encourages the survivors to take the time to close them. Freddy's rework followed this same pattern by giving him extreme map pressure, it gave him powerful tools to ######### down chases, and it added a mechanic which encouraged survivors to take tim off gens in order to wake up and render his powers while in a chase useless. When survivors refused to heal in favor of rushing gens we got Oni. Before map reworks we got Deathslinger and a Doctor rework that were much more effective at shutting down infinite loops and poor tile placement. And now Pyramid Head which can negate many of the second chance opportunities for survivors. If you want to stop the production of killers that become increasingly stronger in a 1v1 situation you have to address the way survivors can play and make weaker killers ineffective.

The last part if his argument that really bugged me is he was quick to dismiss others. He said if you believe survivors only find killers they have difficulty with your argument is invalid and "childish". I think he should have at least considered why people feel that way. And for me personally I think it's mostly true. When these discussions come up it's mostly the top tier killers, the killers that require a different playstyle, that get labeled as boring. Take nurse for instance. She was called OP and boring for as long as I can remember. Now she's been severely nerfed, is rarely seen (almost never seen on consoles), and when she does pop up there's a high chance of beating her. In a recent thread asking people to list their 3 favorite and 3 least favorite killers to VS, Nurse was regularly placed in the top 3 to play against. It can't be a coincidence that she went from being the most boring and OP killer in the game to now being one of the weakest (in most people's hands) and suddenly one of the most fun to play against. Dismissing someone else's argument doesn't make it invalid or nonexistent.

In short I hope this doesn't come across as a Scott Jund hate thread. I don't know him personally but I like his content and I believe he wants the best for the game and the community. He often makes fair points and addresses true balance issues on both sides. It's just this particular arguement, especially when it comes to Spirit, that I think he has a strong bias about which leads him to making bad points and suggestions.

  • This list reads like "The harder it is to bully a killer the less fun they are to play against."

  • "Is Doc too strong?"

    No.

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

You want the survivors to punish camping when the killer is using a perk designed to trick you into thinking they're not camping? If the killer uses their brain Insidious camping is brain dead easy. I had an Insidious T3 Myers basement camping last night. The only reason I didn't die is I had Kindred and figured out what he was up to.

Insidious should only work effectively once. After that you should know what to expect and be on the lookout for it.

  • Insidious is fine the way it is. Camping is a tactic that only works of the survivors allow it to work. If a killer is camping and your team isn't punishing them by doing gens then the loss is your fault.

In another note, the game would get really boring really fast if the devs banned or punished playstyles.
