  • I agree!

although the title of this thread really should be: "Windows of Opportunity is a good perk." If you ask me!

  • When people say Dead Hard is used to correct mistakes, they are talking about the many many many instances where the Killer will do a good play; be it good pathing, a mind game, out playing them at a loop with their power and so on but since the survivor was injured they can just press E and avoid it.

Dead Hard CAN also be used in the ways you mentioned but I don't think that's what people mean when they say dead hard corrects mistakes.

  • Congrats on 1 year!

  • Faced a few today, been a while

Honestly BHVR I can forgive the game being a buggy frustrating mess at the worst of times but PLEASE say or do something about this

The only silver lining we have right now is DC penalties being off, we don't have to waste our time with cheaters + we'll recognise the names and be able to dodge them easier. Now I'm not encouraging anyone to DC as that would be against the rules

But...If you're put in a situation where you literally cannot play the game because of them, what other option do you have?

I can send you a video from a spanish Streamer getting matched 2 times in a row with 2 Different hackers on the last week.

1 Game with 1 hacker and another One with the entire team.

And there is a weekly clips video from a Guy called "Clipsedita2" that every week shows hackers on games, so they are more common than we think

I watched a vid recently where someone was quoted as saying that supposedly 10% of the PC playerbase uses cheats (in some capacity)

There's no citations or proof or anything like that but the person who said that is supposedly someone who knows a lot about the people cheating in dbd. If that statistic is true then that's kinda shocking right?

  • well before dc penalties were off, i think a lot of killers just tried to end the game asap because it's boring/uninteresting to have a 3 v 1 from the start although ironically a section of the killer playerbase make their main strat tunnelling one dude out as fast as humaely possible so

idk, personally i don't mind letting survivors get some points but i don't wanna waste anyones time either

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

I'm fairly convinced that people don't actually want the meta changed and just wanna complain about it endlessly

I feel that's because many people put themselves in the mindset that anything new and potentially strong/strong is making the game worse for the other side and that the intentions behind said change are to tilt the game towards that side.

  • This isn't the only exploit with this perk either.

I'm seeing people using it to phase through killers/survivors and push them around. Something like that

Worst part about it is survivor main content creators actively encouraging it and showing people how to do it. I hate it whenever some bug comes around that's clearly not intended and a bunch of people try to write it off as some cool amazing tech that adds so much to the game when it really doesn't.

  • What point are you trying to prove with this thread

That Killer players complain about perks? We all know that already, Dead Hard has been complained about since it was made.

Survivor players complain about Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer/Corrupt/ etc.

    It's a player issue not a survivor/killer issue.

  • @GoshJosh said:

Call it trolling, bait, whatever you biased people want. But her points are totally true and logical.

Not really, no. For the points to be true they should be backed up with evidence which there isn't any

Both sides have been buffed/nerfed. Both sides have had changes made that were healthier for the game and both sides still have some work to be done for them to be completely balanced

I'd be willing to spend the time going over every minute buff/nerf each side has gotten and explain why I think they were good/bad changes.

Well I never got more than 1 or 2 before and i play since 2016 lol so 3 its nuts. Im trying to get to Gas Haven again to see if its map related. I didn't get any keys in other maps.

I've had 3 keys happen in one game before, it's rare but not impossible! Especially because of how much Plunderers increases the chances to get one

There was a bug at one point tho where everyone basically had plunderers basekit and man that was such a wild time lmao

  • Hey thanks.

Tinkerer is okay as an information perk, I'm completely fine with it being that way

But I don't like how it gives constant information and constant stealth when paired with certain perks/killers. My logic is, by having the stealth only be once per generator that opens up room for counterplay.

Survivors who are paying attention could purposefully trigger tinkerer and then bee-line away from the gen, effectively wasting the killer's stealth and making it so the next time it procs - they'll be able to hear the killer coming

  • Because if you're the obsession it can unironically sandbag you

Sometimes you need to keep out of sight and Object lights you up like a christmas tree if ur the obsession

  • I'd chalk this up to just being plunderers, it's not hugely uncommon to get multiple keys while using it

If this happened with no plunderers then I'd be concerned

  • I like going against Pinhead with hoarder

Because what usually happens from my experience is:

    • Competent survivor picks up box
    • Pinhead tries to catch them, fails and basically throws the game trying to catch them
    • They either lose all the gens or DC when they realise they've thrown the game

I laugh every time it happens

damn, this is fairly details, thanks alot. this makes a lot of sense aswell

You're welcome! I play a decent amount of hag from time to time because I find she's a refreshing change of pace compared to most other killers

You aren't wrong on the straight line thing, Save definitely limits a survivor's choices post-hit and it's At-Hook value can be pretty nuts, but we both have our own opinions here and that's ok, to each their own

I think it depends on playstyle yeah

I mean some people would argue why run it instead of 4 gen defense perks. It's all a matter of taste and opinion which is fine with me

  • The likely answer? Next tuesday

    That's typically when hotfixes happen

  • If it were up to me, I'd make it so the undetectable is only granted the 1st time it triggers on a gen. Any times after, the killer will still get the ping but they won't get the stealth element.

  • I disagree, actually. I want to explain why:

STBFL severely limits the amount of distance survivors get with their post hit speed boost, which is something many smart survivors will milk the hell out of by running in a straight line until they make it to a structure that's far away. With enough stacks, you can turn what would've been just a free hit into a free down in many many occasions:

People trying to bodyblock you while in chase or while carrying someone? No problem.

Borrowed Time? Not a problem, chew right through it. Free stack in 3/4 instances.

Committed to camping a guy and their teammates are coming in? Not a problem, STBFL almost always guarantees an exchange with at least 6 stacks.

Someone trying to finish a generator right in your face? STBFL can come in clutch and stop this in its tracks.

Now for the downside: "But you can't hit the obsession!" Well, that's why people run this perk on Demo, Pig, Nemesis & Trapper most commonly because their power allows them to ignore the only downside this perk has. Which means they get all of that and more.

Now onto probably the most controversial part of my post: I don't think STBFL is op BUT I think what a survivor can do to actually counterplay it is either limited or non-existant. Only the obsession can impede the stack gains and in your average solo Q game this will not happen and even in a team, the obsession constantly taking hits is free injuries and knowledge for the killer.

Not sure what I would do to change it, but yeah. That's my thoughts

    • Don't make the mistake of wandering around without peppering traps along the way
    • Remember that you can use your power offensively as well as defensively, you can use it to trap loops mid-chase and limit a survivors options
    • If a trap gets triggered, you teleport to it but can't get a hit - reset that trap then continue chasing. This will stop traps going to waste and will make sure you always have some available.
    • Try to think ahead of survivors, place traps in common escape routes then approach from the opposite angle to push them towards the traps. Also place traps below drop down points, these are almost always guaranteed hits even against survivors with balanced landing.
    • Invest in Franklins if you see survivors with items as many items can severely counter Hag - mainly medkits and flashlights.
  • I kinda need to keep my avatar otherwise the joke behind my name doesn't work

  • I recommend Deadlock as a Trickster perk! He's a slow killer so having a bit of passive map pressure will help you in the long run

Also part of Trickster's learning curve is knowing when not to use knives and/or when to break chase. Some structures Trickster is simply unable to easily handle due to his 110% movement speed and projectile based power.

  • I dunno, some of the car loops on Badham are pretty favoured to ranged killers, to the point of them being basically death traps

Not talking the truck/ambulence ones, but the ones where it's a car, some junk and a pallet

  • Take care of yourselves fellow forum goers

I wish you all the best.

Clients feedback is everything, this is not the usual "omg nerf survivors" this is some serious stuff that will backfire

    I mean, you're right

But it wouldn't be the first time BHVR has, let's say, not responded to or cared about a certain issue enough to give it direct attention:

    • Console Optimisation/Game Health chapters
    • The rampant cheating problem, there was even a high rated question about it for their latest Q&A and it was blatantly ignored
    • The fact it took so long for colourblind settings to be added and we only got news about them because someone got a bit of backlash for a clip of them.
  • I have 2 predictions on how I think BHVR will respond to this.

    Optimistic:

They will make some kind of blog post talking about how working with their partners is tough and that it requires a lot of back and forth, deal-making in order to deliver the content that they want while also pleasing them yadda yadda and it ends with them saying "we have learned from this and from now on we will avoid anything related to this subject in our game going forward"

    Pessimistic/Likely Realistic:

They won't respond and will carry on like nothing has happened. They've made a business decision and don't care what people think of it.

  • @The_Krapper said:

The fact that no mod or dev has responded to any of the backlash speaks volumes about this whole situation

If you ask me, it's likely for 1 of 2 reasons

Either they've been told not to respond to these threads, likely because they think it'll be like pouring gasoline on the situation

Or they have nothing to say, because it's out of their hands. They can't say much apart from "We're sorry you feel this way" or something akin to that.

Maybe both but that's my guess.

  • I said it on the original thread

This is sad, but it's also hilarious

Hilarious because NFTs are one of the dumbest things ever concieved by a human being and people actually spend money on them

I think despite any disagreements anyone has had on here, we can all agree this is completely unethical.

My main gripe is the dishonesty about it

They said it themselves, they knew months in advance this was going to happen and they waited until AFTER the chapter was out for at least a month before talking about it. That's not right.

I get it, it's business but you can't expect your consumers to just roll over and take it when it's so blatant like this.

Imo, you have some controversial views with regards to DBD but the forums will be a quieter place with you not around.

    Def wouldn't be the same.

Hey wait. I just realized. The mods permabanned the guy who made the first post about this. Everyone was like "yeah cause they don't want him posting false statements."

hahahahahahah Well. I haven't played DBD in a few weeks cause of the ######### balance, and now I can just safely uninstall it. Cya BHVR

Not playing devil's advocate here but @GoodBoyKaru wasn't banned for making the thread and I don't think it was permanent either

  • you the MVP, many thanks

  • 😤👍️

    Well done fellow forum goer!

  • Untitled Image

Credits to Hybridpanda, I think he made this?

  • Nah they fixed this in one of the recent hotfixes

The chains stop when you start solving the box and after you've endured the first three random chains I think? Deactivating the chains by holding m1 puts them on a cooldown which is then when you can activate the solve interaction which permanently pauses them

  • I took a break when Twins was released and didn't play until the next mid chapter I think

Might've been slightly longer but yeah

  • You may be encountering people using the perk 'Monitor and Abuse' in conjunction with Infectious Fright

When they down a survivor, their TR is still larger from Monitor and then it instantly shrinks down once the survivor is down the chase is over.

  • I see some people talking about Hag and Corrupt and on paper it seems like such a logical thing and I can see why for some it is but

I don't know, I feel like corrupt is a bit counter intuitive on hag sometimes - You want survivors to waste their time away from you so you can set up a good amount of traps early on and corrupt will make them actively move towards you meaning you might have areas that are near you that have no traps yet.

I think for stalling the early gens, Deadlock might be better for Hag

I agree that no way out does make end game a lot more interesting, Sometimes.

I think it's too powerful to make basekit though, and i feel like the same thing could be achieved by regressing open escape progression. Maybe with No Way Out, that feature would be disabled.

I think another part of what makes NWO so great is the fact that it only activates when survivors touch the gate. It's not as soon as the gens get done (Great design decision btw, whoever buffed this perk - 10/10)

If you're keeping them busy to the point where they don't get to touch a gate right away, then it'll hit them like a truck

  • You know what makes the Endgame a bit more exciting and fun? Noed

Just kidding - I meant to say No way Out. I've been running it on most of my killers as of late and I think it's an incredible perk that, to be honest I think could make its way into being a basekit mechanic at some point. Maybe some people might not agree with that, it's worthy of a perk slot either way

It allows you a bit more leeway to commit to chases in the endgame and you might actually be able to turn the tables if there's only 3 survivors left by that point.

  • @Zarathos said:

Its more to do with chains instantly breaking off terrain and pinhead himself then the chains being removed via the break chain interaction.

It would be nice if the chain break off terrain took a little bit longer. Also in some cases you meed to place your portal in front not behind a survivor as the chains will break very easily if you hit them with a summoned chain as there vaulting a window.

Pinhead overall baseline is a solid killer with a refreshing objective to interact with. His add ons border on busted except engineers fang in particular is pushed but those add ons are designed for handling the comp teams so I'm more forgiving of them.

I mostly agree with you, but I gotta point something out about his addons

He has a subset of addons that are almost completely useless.

Those being casting range and chain distance. If they don't want you to use your chains at long range (an in game tip even tells you not to) why make 2 different sets of addons that allow you to do that

  • I'd love legion to get their own theme and chase music

I've just always associated one of the default songs (blood trail) with them though, for some reason

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HF46p6dx2z4

Seems like anytime I vs a legion this is the music that accompanies them.

  • Part of me wonders about a Goosebumps chapter sometimes

It's not exactly like the most horror of horror but it's still a fun series of books

  • I had a bubba player whinge because he facecamped me when I was on 2nd stage and he got upset that my teammates did all the gens and didn't bother trying to save me

    Talk about entitlement

  • @JustWhimsical said:

I know I should probably oppose this, but I feel like resilience is pretty fine as it is, like its not too menacing, but it isn't bad either in my opinion. I am conflicted because I realize that it is increased by quite a bit paired with other perks, but at the same time, I like how it affects many things. :c

Honestly I don't mind it too much either, but I also don't think the perk would be made unusable if the gen repair speed was removed

It'd still have all its other utilities, including vault speed. Hell you could make it increase boon totem blessing speed too, why not?
