So what happens now?

I heard about this 'Bhvr working with NFT' stuff and people are mad about it because NFT hurts the environment or something.

This can't go well for Bhvr, this kind of publicity could hurt not just DBD, but any of their projects. No one will want to buy something from a company that supports another company that hurts the world.

This kind of thing is making me scared for DBD's future. What could the next step be?

If they remove Pinhead, will it be the same as Stranger Things? Content removed but we keep it if we've bought it?

What do the Devs have to say about all this?

  • Worst case scenario Gaben gets mad removes dbd from steam store, devs enable cross progression and we'll all have to move on microsoft store. But at that point with the amount of money i personally spent on this game it would be unacceptable

Cross progression is already enabled between Steam and Stadia.

  • I have 2 predictions on how I think BHVR will respond to this.

    Optimistic:

They will make some kind of blog post talking about how working with their partners is tough and that it requires a lot of back and forth, deal-making in order to deliver the content that they want while also pleasing them yadda yadda and it ends with them saying "we have learned from this and from now on we will avoid anything related to this subject in our game going forward"

    Pessimistic/Likely Realistic:

They won't respond and will carry on like nothing has happened. They've made a business decision and don't care what people think of it.

Clients feedback is everything, this is not the usual "omg nerf survivors" this is some serious stuff that will backfire

    I mean, you're right

But it wouldn't be the first time BHVR has, let's say, not responded to or cared about a certain issue enough to give it direct attention:

    • Console Optimisation/Game Health chapters
    • The rampant cheating problem, there was even a high rated question about it for their latest Q&A and it was blatantly ignored
    • The fact it took so long for colourblind settings to be added and we only got news about them because someone got a bit of backlash for a clip of them.

DbD is an old game, its on its waning ends, im not one of the alarmists saying oh, SWF destroying DBD, but the Devs have a game, with a mutually pissed off playerbase. Survivors mad at killers, killers mad at survivors, and people are starting to realize that the common enemy is BHVR. Nothing can unite 2 people like a common enemy can. Boycotts, ect. For all we know, the Devs are attempting to print out as much money with NFT as possible, maybe they know VHS will kill the game anyway, or something like that, so who cares what stances they take.

I hope this isnt the case, but its increasingly seeming so.
