His difficulty is like Nurse’s. High skill floor in learning when/how to use the power well and its intricacies. But the ceiling comes from facing very good survivors that know how to play against the power, and how to adapt to bad maps/different survivor playstyles.
I don't really agree that he's similiar to Nurse though because Nurse has no option other than using her power
Blight can have his cake and eat it, he can chase normally and use a pretty strong and sometimes oppressive power. I think that's one of the things that bothers me about him but I can't quite put my finger on why.
Some ppl think blight should be 110% or smth but I don't know if that's the best solution either

Well I am the first to admit that I am far better at countering Nurse because I main her (though I don't play killer at all at present as not enjoying it). But you are right in that pretty much every Blight runs the same build, same addons and plays in the same sweaty way.
I get why people want to play a strong killer like Blight as getting stomped playing weaker killers gets old fast. But I find myself audibly groaning when I see the killer is Blight...
Ruin Pop Corrupt Tinkerer
Ruin Undying Pop Tinkerer
Ruin Pop Undying Corrupt
Ruin Pop Pain Resonance Corrupt
As much as I don't really like Lilithomen's content (Nothing to do with him, I just find watching Blight boring), at least he basically only plays with shadowborn most of the time, I can respect the hell out of it.

Yeah I am pretty sick to death of seeing Blights too, I don't even see Nurse very often any more either. Just Blight... over and over
People aren't playing nurse as much atm because when they re-did the code to make her smoother and have less bugs - there's still a couple of issues that need to be ironed out, mainly surrounding the 2nd blink bug which I imagine will be fixed in a hotfix. Potentially tomorrow
On the topic of Blight, can I just pose a question to my fellow thread goers
Is Blight really as hard to play as everyone says he is?
Because from my experience playing him as well as seeing other people play him, he doesn't seem that hard at all. His power's hurtbox feels extremely generous and couple that with movement speed addons, a survivors time to react is severely hindered
Also the issue of perk variety - As much as facing a good nurse is frustrating at least Nurse players don't all run the same 4/5 perks. Many do, but you'll also see Nurses running off-meta, fun or otherwise perks as well.
-
Not by default, no
Having it be apart of a perk - idk like saboteur for example would be acceptable and not really game changing. That's if it were to be a thing, which it doesn't have to be.

Well... the problem is... if you commit to chases as legion you will have serious problems, this way of playstyle makes people say legion is weak and that is the best way to play against legion, split up, so he is forced to commit on single chase. It's a bad idea to play into your weakness.
As legion you have to split your pressure and force survivors to heal because of it and waste time. Which is another problem with legion pin (it's a good addon, but only when paired with mangled/thana, so survivors won't rush gens like crazy.
It's not necessarily true that Legion is weak in the 1v1 - what makes a lot of m1 killers weak in the 1v1 is needing to hit survivors twice for them to go down. Clown or Doctor for example.
As I'm sure you're well aware Legion can 100% guarantee the first hit, meaning with 1 survivor mistake, bad pathing or a good mindgame and they go down. You should never chase a healthy survivor as legion if you can avoid it.
It's easier said than done, obviously - you're gonna eat a few pallets and have to play around tiles but I think that's part of playing M1 killers overall. I'm hoping his rework makes his power more dynamic in the end.
-
My advice would be adapt your playstyle against what you're facing
You'll know if COH is potentially in play bc you'll hear the boon notification sound, so maybe if you hear that - don't split pressure as often, commit to chases and get downs. Legion's power is also good for making people trade hooks and waste time mending.
And if not that, remember a survivor hit with deep wound cannot heal until they mend so you could stack both mending addons to guarantee some extra slowdown to circle of healing gamers
-
Probably the sluzzy parody thread he made last night, maybe the mods didn't realise it was a joke or maybe making threads like that is frowned upon. Sucks that he got banned :(
Or the constant avatar changing (Highly doubt that though)
-
I think in 90% of games, Agitation is superior
Moving significantly faster is better than being able to move slightly further. You also outspeed survivors with it, meaning you can get hits or move past people trying to bodyblock
The reduced swaying with IG is cool to have against boil over gamers though
-
I think it's a good thing, personally
The forums and community shouldn't be an echo-chamber. People are entitled to their takes, no matter how hilariously out of touch, misunderstood or silly they may be.
You see the echo-chamber stuff with content creators sometimes, you get people who say that such and such said xyz so it must be true and if you say you think they are wrong and so on then backlash ensues. Sometimes. It's def not a super common thing
-
If you ask me, it's got nothing to really do with any inherent bias - rather the developers have to be careful and toe a certain line when it comes to the survivors/killers roles and what changes they make. At the moment the only fundemental change we've been told about is some kind of 'anti-camping mechanism' and something to improve the lives of solo-q survivors.
Many years ago, Not Queen once said she doesn't see the game as survivor mains and killer mains and in a perfect world we'd all agree but unfortunately that's not how the playerbase itself sees things.
The fact that you can have people who call the devs survivor bias and the ones who call them killer bias demonstrates this imo.
It applies to new content as well:
Survivor players complain that their gameplay has gotten stale/boring/etc, so we get boons
Killer players complain that they get looped and feel powerless, we get killers who by design are 'anti-loop' (Pyramid Head, Pinhead, Nemesis, Artist and so on)
Generally people complain about perk variety (same 4 perks every game and such), so we get a mixed bag of perks that are either really well designed (Pain resonance e.g), power crept versions of older perks (Starstruck is literally mad grit 2) or filler perks (Like Hoarder or Clairvoyance)
The perk variety problem has improved though, which I'm happy about.
-
By design survivors have smaller hitboxes, they did a stream at one point showcasing this - I could probably find it if need be
Hug tech is a bit different, it's more about how Blight's power works and can be manipulated by those who have the know how, to do things that aren't necessarily intended but not bannable or anything like that. Some people have said it's even intentional which I'm not 100% sure on but I could see it.

You can notice when killer mains never play survivor. The new Dead Man's Switch, and Scourage Hooks is so broken, way more than Boil Over. One player, only one player can equip these and have a massive unbeatable advantage over a team of four.
Yes, killers have had nothing buff buffs since 2019 and earlier while survivors have had nerfs in several ways.
Yeah It's not like survivors have had an entirely new mechanic added to the game that completely favours them in basically every way. A mechanic killers just have to bite down and deal with.
I'm not even saying that to be snarky, Boons have virtually NO downsides in practice. Zero.
And they would've been even stronger than the current version if changes weren't made and isn't that a scary thought
-
Map offerings should be removed if the developers really want to push this 'competitive' (as in making the game more about the competition than casual aspects) aspect like they have done with MMR
Letting one side just pick a map that favours them makes no sense to me, I hate that both roles do it

Tinkerer is broken too, and "overused" on Blight. So to say killer perks are nerfed when overused is the opposite of the truth. BBQ is overused and not nerfed. They may have changed Ruin because new players could not hit the skillchecks but it really wasn't that it was overused, but they either intentionally or inadvertently made the perk much stronger. Take a Blight that is all over the map, bouncing constantly and removing people from gens. It's common for Blight to constantly keep or two survivors on the hook - how can anyone find the totem?
Fortunately i have proof to back up what I'm saying:
"The upcoming mid-chapter update will also include a major overhaul to Hex: Ruin, and an associated update to the Gatekeeper Emblem. Recent data show that Hex: Ruin is used in over 80% of all games in the red ranks, and across the entire userbase it appears in about 45% of all games. "
"We also looked carefully to see how it functions as part of a Killer's loadout. Beyond the obvious desire to slow down generator repair, Hex: Ruin functions as one of the very few perks effective as slowing generator repair in the first couple of minutes of the Trial. This is important to Killers' rankings because the Gatekeeper Emblem highly rewards keeping as many of the 7 generators incomplete as they can for as long as possible. "

You're entitled to your opinion on Blight and his 4 horseman slowdown perks, I'm not the biggest fan of them myself but nowhere in this thread did I say a perk should be nerfed purely because it's being used too much. If a perk (such as boil over in this case) is promoting unhealthy gameplay then it should be looked at
This applies to killer perks too, insidious for example - it promotes unhealthy gameplay and should've been changed years ago.

People talking about fandoms need to realise that the DBD fandom has it's fair share of 'cringe'
A whole lot of it, actually

When did devs nerf overused killer perks? Ruin, BBQ still not nerfed. Killers get new strong massive slowdown perks with no nerfs.
Survivor perks like CoH already nerfed twice. Survivor perks are always nerfed, while killer perks are not touched.
Actually Sluzzy if you remember - original ruin was nerfed because it was being used too much and made newer players miserable.
And to be blunt for a second - BBQ is never going to be nerfed, deal with it - it's perk people use for BP, the info is just a bonus. Most people prefer Tinkerer these days anyway

Its really not abuse to use perks. It's not hostage when you can slug or use perks to counter it.
But it is abuse to be put in a situation where you either can't hook a survivor or have to waste time bleeding them out.
If it's one person doing it sure you can just ignore them and chase somebody else but if multiple people are doing it, what are you supposed to do
It doesn't promote healthy gameplay, not because it's a strong perk but because it forces killers to have to bleed people out to get kills - which is not the way the game is meant to be played.
Also Boil Over can be used to take the game hostage because No Mither and Exponential exist - perks that allow survivors to stand up an infinite amount of times.
-
@RakimSockem said:
I've honestly been laughing at the outrage of Boil Over which has been a meme since it was added to the game. Like really, there are so few situations where you'll have to drop off a high place to hook someone. But you'd think this is the most toxic and OP perk in the game if you read the forums (when people aren't complaining about Dead Hard which also is just strong but not OP)
I find that killers drop off of 'heights' quite a lot because they need to cut corners to make hooks due to many of the maps layouts
Boil over wouldn't bother people as much if "great height" wasn't such an overstatement. The truth is the height is nowhere near great
-
No it doesn't
If anything it proves that if something can be abused, it will be abused
It's not really too much of a problem on its own but it can be made into a problem with SWFs & map offerings. Say what you want about your favourite killer blight and his four horseman of slowdowns at least he isn't holding the game hostage and has to actually play the game. Sure it might not be very fun for you but it's not like it's impossible.

Yes but since the report system for this game sucks it need to be more than that.
For what it's worth, every cheater I've reported with video proof has been banned in the end, even if it took a little while.
It's not ideal because not everybody is as petty as me - they need a better system than expecting everyone to make tickets constantly
I'm sure their support staff would appreciate a better system too, I'd hate to be them

I am not saying the generalization is accurate, I am just saying it exists for a reason. It was not arbitrary. I personally feel, because of the mechanics of this game, and the us vs them, that the issue is much more prominent in this game than others. People would not avoid them like the plague, otherwise. You know? It is not a small amount that actively go out of their way to ruin the experience.
To be fair, I was more or less arguing against the typical "generalizations are bad, m'kay" argument as opposed to your very specific point. And for that, I apologize for the confusion. It was more intended as a piggy back off your post than me genuinely trying to refute anything you said.
Ah fair, I appreciate your response! Thanks for your time
You are right, the us vs them thing is a big dbd problem and it's not typically present in most other games. I've not played other asym games enough to know of any other examples.

Record, report & submit ticket and leave it at that is I believe what OP is getting at
Cheaters can't be held accountable for their actions because they use burners and alts. Calling out cheaters does nothing.
Calling out the issue of cheaters being allowed to run rampant and such is different from calling out someone who you saw cheating. Hopefully you get what I mean.

That's my experience with TTVs as well. They never have anything nice to say about the killer player. They're always trash or a baby or ######### etc. Not sure why people think that will earn them more viewers lol. Would never subscribe to a player like that
You say that but funnily enough that's more representative of your average DBD player, no? (Not intended as an insult, I fall into that category myself)
I mean have we all not complained about the game, a match, a certain player and so on before? At least once?
Only difference is they decided to broadcast it live, so I guess there's different standards
The ones who make it personal or tell people to catch deadly dieases, yeah screw 'em.

I think the problem wouldn't be so significant if people just didn't pay it as much mind as they do. Hackers are always gonna be a problem, BHVR explained why they don't name specific vulnerabilities that get fixed because that just gives more incentive to find more.
@ScottJund did a video on toxicity in DBD and I think one point a lot of people need to remember is that, hacker or otherwise, most of the people being "toxic" are kids trying to piss people off for attention or humor. Who do you think has enough free time to buy alt accounts and cheat in DBD? There is no getting through to the people who do this, and the best solution really is to just stop caring. Move on, don't engage with or point out specific instances because that's exactly what they want you to do.
The reason many of us were vocal and adamant about getting a response from BHVR, had nothing to do with them telling us what specific vulnerabilities or minutia were being worked on
Personally I just wanted a "Yeah we hear you" and we got it, thankfully. It felt like they didn't care, backed up by the game going free on Epic even after the community made it clear that there was a big cheating problem going on at the time.
You're right though, attention & reactions is what a lot of them want. Look at Choy's video for proof, they have a streamsnipe list and on it there's stuff like "boring reactions" or "will waste hours, don't bother."

The generalization is fair. The type of people who want to stream are more likely to not act in a way that basically everyone dislikes. As evidenced by the heavy bias against them that doesn't exist in other games. So weird.
Your post confuses me a bit so if my response also seems a bit confusing please forgive me
I understand that streamers in general have stigmas around them, and of course there are many who like I mentioned - make donkeys of themselves on a platform live infront of people
What bothers me is the notion that you're 'toxic' purely because you decide to stream on a platform. It's like saying you're 'toxic' because you main one side in the game - you could argue it but it wouldn't be fair imo
What makes the generalisation fair to you, exactly? I'd like to know if you don't mind.
-
Generalisations get us nowhere as a community.
Twitch is just a streaming platform, it's not some exclusive club - some people stream to pursue a passion of making money playing games, others do it for a fun hobby and others do it to make an absolute donkey of themselves.
The only difference between streamers and regular people when it comes to making a donkey of yourself is that one is broadcasted and the other is typically left within the confines of your room or wherever your computer is
Although if you're a streamer, don't link your channel in the chats, If I'm playing the game I'm not gonna stop and watch a random streamer. Time and place.

I dont really know why they would remove the open Lockers Part. I will play a game as Wraith just now to check it.
Because opening Lockers faster is the most irrelevant thing on this Add On.
Yeah I can't say I see a reason why they'd remove it either
Perhaps it was a forgotten oversight when re-writing the addon description, that's the most logical explanation imo

@JacksonWise said:
Not a bad suggestion! Would be much better than the current iteration. Here is an idea I was thinking of:
Whenever the killer bumps into an object while carrying the survivor, it grants 1/2/3% bonus wiggle progression (not for the rest of the wiggle, just for the moments of collision).
This way it is still stronger than the previous version, but doesn't encourage the survivor to run to the same spot over and over like the current version. This would also make the perk balanced by being more useful on some maps (like Midwich) and not so much on others (like Rotten fields). Teammates could also aid the carried survivor through bodyblocking, but the killer still has the choice to hit the bodyblockers, try to move around them, or drop the survivor.
Let me know what you think!
Your version is also decent as well! I quite like how it ties into the 1st affect of the increased wiggle swaying. I added a possible alternative to my suggestion about it giving wiggle progress when the killer whiffs when carrying which would also build upon the increased swaying because trying to hit people bodyblocking you when you're swaying constantly is a lot harder than usual
I like your idea though! I'd be happy with that if that was the alternative to the current.

Yes, this is a common term players in DBD like to use. If someone is doing something which they dont like, they just call it "abuse". Of course nobody is abusing any Perks or Offerings.
I mean you can call it just playing the game and ig stop complaining about it but if it's smth people find unfair/unfun & want to see changed ofc they'll talk about it in that way right?
-
@Devotion said:
Survivor using perks and/or map offerings = Abuse?
Well, if you sent yourself to RPD and everytime you get chased you run straight up to the library and sit in the corner - knowing full well you're basically guaranteed to wiggle off, yes I would consider that abuse
In the same way that a killer playing Bubba and facecamping someone is abuse - there is nothing the person dealing with it can really do.
-
Bleeding out survivors isn't against the rules and won't get you banned
The only time you'll get banned for stuff like this is holding survivors (or killers) hostage and making it so the game can't end.
So in short, no - bleeding out isn't bannable, it's just not very nice.
-
Don't be afraid to experiment, a lot of pig players I see fall into a trap of thinking what some streamer says is gospel
Also get used to RBTs either doing nothing or winning you the game - the RNG aspect is what makes her a feast or famine kind of character
-
People aren't getting mad about Boil Over on its own
People are getting mad at Boil over (x4) with anti-slugging perks, RPD/Ormond/Disturbed Ward/Backwater swamp map offerings.
Basically they're (rightfully so imo) getting mad at people abusing the hell out of the perk in combination with other things.
There's also the fundemental problem of what constitutes a "great height" because according to a screenshot I'll post below, the term "great height" is an overstatement
Here's context:
-
From my knowledge, at some point perk priority was changed so that Unbreakable was always used up last
So if you had Soul guard + UB and were cursed, soul guard would always be used (Some ppl thought perk order mattered and it might have at one point but it was changed)
The same applies to exponential.
Basically I'm about 90% sure UB is only ever used up if it's the only way for you to pick yourself up
-
@Youko said:
Thanks, that mostly answers it but does lead me to think that the one instance may have been a bug (where the players didn't or couldn't open 2 of them). Are we also limited to only opening 1 envelope each? Because if so, I think what happened is the envelopes might have been opened, and then the modeled just glitched and stayed in the map regardless. Because both myself and a random teammate tried and couldn't get it to do anything.
As far as I am aware, you can open as many envelopes as you want
It's possible for 1 player to claim all 4 (except their own). I've not really encountered people doing this tho since they'd rather just get one then play normally.
-
Hey
What happened is that another player found your envelope and opened it, when you reveal it - you're not making it visible, you're making its aura visible and getting some extra points for showing people where it is
Also there's a bug where envelopes that have been claimed have auras that linger for a bit longer than they should
Hopefully this answers your Q!

In spite of this she still has one of the highest kill rates in the game
it's really bizarre but it's probably padded from RBT kills and people who abuse addons and map offerings
