Some of these tips are helpful but "don't break pallets" has thus far proven a horrible idea.

Basically any pallet dropped or not can be turned into a hit with Pyramid Head, the problem comes with people who either pre-drop when you're nowhere close or those who are cheeky and manage to vaccum and stun you last second (Which if you time it right you can also get a free hit from)

Some pallets do need to be broken though, some are just too hard to get hits over with PH at times

Considering the small amount of adjustments across the board, the fact that the lowest picked character in the roster was picked out to adjust in a negative manner is quite counter intuitive and no QoL or other aspects improved that would result in them being more appealing to play.

Let someone with far more experience than I on the twins highlight the issues with the adjustments made:

    https://youtu.be/IpTbDoLun-c

I'm aware of the problems with the Twins and the issues with the changes that were made, my post wasn't a justification for them or a defense of them

My post is a theory/possible explanation to the question posed in the message I replied to. They asked 'why did the devs make these changes' and my theory is that using data gathered from SBMM they decided Twins needed changes.

If I've learned anything about BHVR is that they rely way too much on statistics these days.

  • Here's my prediction on what'll happen to it:

    There's 1 of 2 possible outcomes imo:

    1) They reduce the amount of wiggle gained from a drop from 25% to 15%

    Or

    2) They change what falling from a 'great height' means. (This is unlikely to be the case though bc it would involve having to change other perks and challenges etc but it could happen)

  • They gave Power Struggle an unannounced secondary effect

When you're in the dying state you can see all available pallets

She had counterplay, but now she... Well, yeah. She definitely has even more of it. That is for damned sure. In my experience, characters are not top picks to never seen just because they gain a bit of counterplay. Especially when they are partial dressed female characters. Doesn't happen. It happens when characters are gutted, however.

That's a contentious point of discussion if you ask me, I don't think she was gutted since how her power works is still exactly the same

Survivors just know which direction you're moving now, which also helps with that standing still "mindgame". She also gained some really strong addons in the process too.

I'd call gutting what they did to deathslinger since he got nothing in return for his nerfs and he's probably gonna stay like this for a while which is quite sad.

  • Hasn't necessarily killed the fun, to me it seems like it's killed many people's drive to improve or get better at the game because they're aware they'll hit the MMR brick wall where only 1 side has fun.

    Something like that

Probably. I've always played her because I'm passionate for her and still am. Always will be.

I'll give her another shot myself when I play killer too since I can play her without feeling bad about it.

Given how she's much more balanced for the most part

  • It's weird how nobody seems to play her anymore, she was super popular pre-stridor nerf. Did many people really just play her for the fact she had no real counterplay and had stuff like Stridor?

  • Dead Hard wouldn't be so frustrating to face if it wasn't for the fact that in a lot of chases, it is the ONLY reason the killer loses that particular chase, I and I'm sure many others have capitalised on survivor mistakes or made the right read and DH was the only reason the chase wasn't over there and then

It does feel like you get cheated, I'm curious to see what changes they make to DH in the future - It's a shame bc the perk is really fun to use too.

  • @SomberNokk said:

I dont get it, all of a sudden devs are now making changes based on the highest level of play in terms of the twins nerf??? Like what???

I'm not playing devil's advocate by any stretch here, but I do seem to recall one of the reasons for the implementation of SBMM/MMR being something about being able to use the data to balance the game at higher levels since they made a point that the emblem system didn't represent the "high levels" so the data from it was hard to use

Maybe this is what was being talked about and we're seeing the result of it, MMR has been active for a good while now so there must be a significant amount of data (not even considering the data it quietly gathered in the background when the old system was still on)

  • Some would argue it hasn't killed the fun of the game, it's killed the motivation to improve at the game because you'll eventually hit the 'mmr brick wall'

I'm honestly not sure how I feel about MMR at this stage, conflicted might be the word for it

  • I like the powers that you have to build up in some way

Myers, Ghostface, Oni, Plague and Nemesis to a certain extent

I think adding in that 'build up' tension is really rewarding when you finally hit Tier 3 or get Blood Fury rolling etc. Survivors always have to have things in the back of their mind against these killers (Am I 99'd? How long does his T3 have left? Has Oni got his power again? Is the plague close to her red fountains?) stuff like this I love to see.

  • If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to ask - do you think overall/regular Trickster is a well designed character design wise and do you think he's a good form of representation? (if that's the right word.)

His design and appearance was quite a contentious topic on his release and I'm curious to know your thoughts about it.

Ds would still be an issue yes same with bt however I have never had as many people saved and able to have a safe chance of escaping the trial as DH does. I had a match today where it was egc and I was in the way of them getting to the little bm area right infront of the exit and they were injured however thanks to that perk they got passed me and I just ignored them afterwards cause I am not playing this game to stroke toddler egos.

That setup comes up constantly one way or another and the fact that it is a safety net is why I said is brain dead you can be the biggest Idiot walking into walls or doing mistake after mistake but if they are fully healed or injured and the gate opens you might as well just give up and putz around until they leave so yes because of how it's made and can be abused more now thanks to hit validation yes it is a use and win perk for the most part.

Now take the most problematic killer perk NOED it gives a speed boost and exposed however you need to hit them and it's a hex perk so if you ######### up it's gone yes some people camping can benefit from it if the team is altruistic but if not it is useless.

Could I ask you to explain why you think DS and BT are problems? This isn't sarcasm, I wanna hear your opinion because I personally feel like they're in good spots right now. They both more-or-less work the way I think they should.

Like they are 'safety nets' in a way, but they're also the two perks that help counter oppressive killer playstyles (camping and tunnelling). Also again to clarify i'm not saying these 2 playstyles are bad or toxic, just that the perks exist to help counter them. Hopefully you get what I mean.

  • I like charms

For survivor i just pick the ones I like the most but for Killer i always try and match them to the killer I'm playing

E.g Lament Configuration charm on Pinhead's hook and so on

Yes but buffing the perks should be a side upgrade and not something that makes the game easy mode such as IMO dead hard is the most brain dead easy mode perk that exist now. Also the other problem is that right now only 2 killers can be viable in all mmr brackets meaning that certain playstyle hit a ceiling because unlike survivors who are the same mechanically and just a pallette swap of each other killers have certain base kits to consider which right now most are not up to par so it could potentially lead to a situation where it's "meta perks VS blight or nurse "

You call Dead Hard braindead easy mode but (IMO) you don't automatically win because you have it. It's def one of the strongest perks in the game and far outweighs most due to what it gives. It doesn't help it's also extremely frustrating to face, that I understand wholeheartedly

it begs the question though, if/when DH gets nerfed - what then?

Is Decisive Strike still a problem?

Is Borrowed Time still a problem?

And ofc this applies to the killer side too - I'm just using those 2 as examples bc they're contentious I think

NGL tho, something I just thought about - many of the strong survivor perks are free from the get-go and a lot of the strong killer perks are all either locked behind DLC or you need to grind em with shards.

  • One of my survivor teammates got 62k, they were rolling in it

My highest was 58k I believe. (Survivor + I had WGLF)

  • One thing I struggle to understand sometimes is the knee-jerk backlash whenever a perk on either side is buffed into being a perk that has an impact on the game. Both sides deserve good and strong perks that when used can impact the match - that's the whole point of perks in the first place

Boil over and DMS are classic examples, people all the time go on about the stale meta but when you start to see changes (some) people demand changes and decry them as too unbalanced and so on.

Just want to clarify i'm not saying discussing changes to perks and concerns is bad, but rather I don't understand why people can seemingly both call the meta stale but then don't like it when other perks come along that can compete. Not replace, compete.

I guess some people just want the meta perks on both sides nerfed, rather than what I think is better - buffing things instead so the meta perks aren't overwhelmingly strong compared to the others

As someone who plays a lot - seeing boil over, dead mans switch, pain resonance, no way out etc It's a welcome sight even if the effects can be annoying or irritating for some or many.

  • I played a round with her, the voice is pretty good!

    Haven't heard Lisa's yet

  • To me the issue isn't that the developers are "wrong" it's just that they clearly have different priorities. Many players are fixated on the here and now, what problems are relevant and talked about right now whereas I imagine development teams have internal roadmaps and plans on how they want any given year or quarter-year to play out and what they want changed in that timeframe.

This also applies to new content being prioritised as BHVR has made it quite clear they are sticking to their content schedules no matter what. I mean it is a business at the end of the day right?

One of the biggest gripes I have is the time it takes for major issues to be resolved or addressed. (And also the language and behaviour of the people who then end up addressing an issue). Some people call it laziness, others call it incompetence - personally I chalk it down to difference of priorities and maybe a pinch of ignorance if i'm feeling pessimistic.

Also no from my POV having a lot of hours and experience in the game doesn't make you an expert or authority on balance. I have a lot of hours in the game and have had many ideas on how I think it'd be improved but my ideas are from my scope of the game and are shaped from my experiences.

Content creators are no more an authority on DBD's balance than any normal player and that's how it should be.

  • I'm on a bit of a break from the game at the moment, I'm quite disillusioned with it

The worst part is I can't point to any specific part of the game and go "it's because of this!", it's more broad and it has other elements to it other than the gameplay and the developers decision making (Although that is a big part of it).

Things like the culture surrounding the game, the behaviour of people who are "popular" in the dbd community as streamers or content creators as well as this general smug sense of superiority a small amount of people seem to give off. It really irks me.

  • All of this could've been avoided if they had just called it 'escape/kill based MMR' instead of calling it skill when what someone classifies as 'skill' in this game is such a contentious thing in the first place

although I do think not factoring in teamplay or altruism on the survivor side makes the system shallow. Same with killers, I'm not saying a killer who gets 0 kills but a lot of hooks is a 'win' but it should count for something imo.

From a thread earlier today - it appears that they are MAC banning people now. Which means that you'll never be able to play the game on that PC again.

It's a great start, and I look forward to my daily dose of schadenfreude reading threads from banned hackers.

After my question was straight up ignored last Q&A, I'm glad we finally got some communication about it - I'm very happy about it!

I know people have a lot of contentious views on this game that they voice vocally but I think this is one of those issues most people are on the same page about

  • @GuyFawx said:

I didnt see a twins nerf in there unless it was regarding their addons?

their most common and popular addons were nerfed

those being toy sword, stale biscuit and one of victor's m/s addons

all they got in exchange was a buff to a useless addon (baby teeth) and 15 extra seconds on the crushing victor ultra-rare addon

  • It's not balanced

Blight's power is designed around his fatigue and his rush cooldown - both of these things are the windows for survivors to make plays against what is a really strong and sometimes oppressive power

The ring completely negates this and makes it so you only have to put up with a really short fatigue and then you can use your power to it's full potential instantly.

If you ask me it also rewards blights who mess up a bunch of times before they finally get a hit because it gives all of their tokens back when they finally get a hit, whereas without the addon - using up all of your tokens to secure a hit ensures that you're out of the game for a little bit as punishment for not using your power effectively

  • He'd be pefect for the game

Plenty of potential for perks, an interesting backstory that has potential to be built upon and expanded a bit more via tomes and such. The ending of the game also gives a great reason for him arriving in the fog to begin with, those who have played the game know exactly what I mean

He's also just an all-round beloved character and one that I'm sure would make great representation for Walking Dead as a franchise in DBD. Clementine or somebody like Rick would also be good choices who I wouldn't argue with but I think Lee is just more suitable for the theme of DBD, the whole feeding off emotions thing.

He's a lot like Bill in a few ways when you think about it - both of them went above and beyond for the people they cared about

I'd also like to see Negan as a killer somehow but that's a topic for another thread

  • Majority of the ones I've come across were either unsubtle cheating survivors I spotted in my solo que adventures or subtle cheaters I had the displeasure of facing off against as killer

Submitting tickets with video evidence does essentially always result in them being banned, but it's still a rampant and frankly ridiculous issue that plagues a game that's already got some fundemental problems going on at the moment.

If I were to count the ones my friends have told me of as well, then it would probably be in the 10+ in terms of encounters. Everything from 2 killer lobbies, game hostage holders and so on and so forth

  • Game discussions and debate regarding the game is primarily why I'm here, I know sometimes discourse surrounding the game isn't great but most of the back and forths I've had with people here have been civil and worthwhile.

The social aspect does also play a part for me, I enjoy lending a hand to people who are still learning the game & sometimes I like to just make dumb jokes on the less serious threads as I'm sure many others do too.

Maybe but it doesn't really explain really anything about them. Not even really anything major from the RE2 or RE3 games. I still think it's most likely because Capcom probably didn't want anything spoiled.

With the upcoming tome being about Pig and Tapp, I'm hopeful we'll see a Resident Evil tome at some point. Hell, while Nemesis himself can't really have lore written about him, they could do some unique stuff about RE characters or the Umbrella Corporation itself.

Esp considering the Chapter was a massive commercial success from what i'm to understand, even if that was spoiled by the techincal issues.

Also yeah you're right it really depends on Capcom in the end

  • Limited material to work with I'd say

Remember this is remake Leon and Jill, who've both only had 1 game each at this point. It's the same with Laurie and Michael in a way, their stories are quite concise if I remember correctly since it's strictly Halloween 1

Look at Ash's backstory- he had quite a detailed one since he's had films/a TV show and such to build upon

Even Cheryl had the events of Silent Hill 1, 3 and what happens afterwards to use as a base

They could have went into more detail about them but maybe Capcom said no bc they haven't explored that area themselves yet

  • He's balding and doesn't wanna admit it

    Poor Blight

  • Who's this 'Victor' fella you're all talking about? 🤔

I thought the next chapter was gonna be Ringu? I don't remember any of the current killers being called victor

  • Ah, thanks for the quote.

IMO wishing cancer on someone isn't on the same level as calling someone garbage or useless. Even says in the post that it depends on the 'level of insults' which makes sense, right?

I mean i don't wanna see ppl banned for calling someone a cringelord in the endgame chat but I wouldn't be against ppl going around wishing cancer upon others being banned - if you see what I mean.

According to Mandy, Behavior is perfectly fine with all of this end-game trash talk

Unless it's racist, homophobic or transphobic then it's within their right to trash talk

If you cared enough you could probably get someone banned for wishing cancer upon someone, as long as you record it and send a ticket in

Also can I ask for a source? Where was this said?

  • 3 Gen strat with 1 person tunnelled out of the game early

Applies to basically any map though.

  • I like a lot of people and their content here however I wanna give a shoutout to: @KhaineGB

Whilst the forums are undergoing whatever-tier storm the DBD community has found itself in, we can rest assured knowing the techincal support forum will operate like usual

  • There's no winning with people like this

Don't give them the time of day, especially if they go as far as wishing for one of the worst things that can happen to a human being, over a video game.

That's usually my mentality at least.

  • Serious when it comes to matters of debate or contentious topics that are opinionated.

That said, It's good to unwind with the various less serious threads and have a laugh once in a while too.

  • I hold a similiar sentiment to others as well

Normal Blight I feel like there's enough of a window to do things against if you know how his power works and where he can and cannot get hits. The problem is when you factor in the speed addons which in my opinion make reacting to his power almost impossible because he moves too fast

Alchemist ring is also a problem because it negates or minimalises the only window survivors have to make plays if they get hit

  • Here's a random bit of trivia you might not be aware of

So facing Twins, if Charlotte downs you while Victor is on your back, he is recalled - right?

However if the survivor Victor is latched onto has endurance (From Mettle of Man) then when Charlotte hits them, Victor will remain on their back still

  • ngl the whole NFT thing feels like a fever dream to me

Like it happened, there was massive backlash and controversy and then the chapter became notoriously the most downvoted chapter on steam (I think)?

And then BHVR just moved on like nothing happened after going "we hear you no nfts in our game dot dot dot"

  • good honestly

perk variety is good, seeing pain resonance actually being used frequently is really nice to see esp given it's a scourge hook perk of all things

  • Really glad to see this, I'm not the biggest fan of Nurse but if she's here to stay - she might as well be as good as possible for those who love to play her.

  • Wait wait wait

    hang on a minute
