  • what proof do you have? every game ive had on there ive had a great experience. People lack knowledge and refuse to learn it. Including yourself

I just finished a game with a cheater, but I don't know which one was cheating. I walked away from a gen with 0 progress, and less than 15 seconds later, it was finished. No idea who finished it. Do you report all of the survivors in the game?

I feel like if I reported every cheater or strongly suspected cheater I played against, I would be spending almost as much time editing and uploading videos as playing DBD. In higher MMR, you're seeing them every several games.

Even if all of the reports get banned, which I doubt they are, it doesn't seem like that big of deal to cheaters. You can buy a key for what, like $4.99? I don't like cheaters and want them banned, but spending so much time for no real benefit seems like a waste of my time.

It's easy to point the finger and blame BHVR for not caring or doing anything, but I think they just don't have a solution. With an anti-cheat system that can't detect cheats and an account you can replace for a few dollars, I don't see how this is going to improve. It's definitely way worse now than it's ever been.

their solution is to upgrade the games security. I think Call of duty devs have banned over 100,000 cheaters and are bragging about it. There are things they can do.

The Team is aware of this issue, and the ACM team is working hard on all the reports they receive, but I have no further information than that I'm afraid. Please know we take hacking and cheating very seriously, and people that cheat and/or hack in the game do get banned for doing so.

And I apologize for misunderstanding you in my reply earlier, believing you meant reporting players.

So as you are aware there are no plans to improve the anti cheat system? Thanks for responding. Believe it or not that means a lot :D

  • i love this map and think people need to stop complaining and learn it. I've had great experiences on it as both killer and survivor. The issue is that people refuse to learn it.

So I'm on my 15th 3 hook or less match in a row and the only reason its so small its I played a baby survivor match before that and I was on like a 20 0-1k streak before that. This is total bs all i so is play survivors that are way better than me get 3 hooks and then play 15 more matchs getting 3 hooks. Mmr is all a lie and total bs all I've faced is survivors with way more hours than me since mmr. Before mmr at least 1 or 2 would be way above me now the whole team is just better and I'm not getting more balanced match at all just stomp fest after stomp fest and I'm well over 150 games I I won or tied maybe 15.

thats just it. it doesnt work lol

I am going to put a reminder in here to keep the comments civil and respectful, please.

Also a reminder, that decisions are made as a team, they are not made by one person alone. And while Individuals do give their input on changes, it is the team, as a whole, that makes the decisions.

Regardless of if they are made by the team. Someone had to bring it up and thats my point. Also since you are dodging my question or haven't got it I'll ask here too. What is the team doing about hacking? You are so quick to defend behavior devs but not to address this? I'm not meaning to be rude but its been a huge issue for a lot of people.

I dont mean where do i report, because i have. With video footage of it, and I'm still running into the same hackers. What I'm wondering is if there is anything planned to increase security in the game. Theres youtube videos showing how people are buying hacks on ebay and hackers are just streaming their hacks. Hell I'd even take a "we're working on it". Because if this radio silence goes on for to long then I'm going to move on to another game. I know that its not on you lol, just frustrated and trying to get a response from anyone.

He is a Gameplay designer and works in the balance team. And it is all a team decision. Just because one single employee of BHVR doesn’t like something doesn’t mean it gets directly changed. It could also easily be that it was never really intended to be the way it was but it got implemented that way as an oversight.

Simply saying it’s just because of Almos personal experience is just not the whole truth and if you want to narrow it down to and limit it to this is actually kinda a personal attack.

it was literally changed the patch after that stream. Go look at the footage and tell me with a straight face that wasnt the cause of the change. I dont care because i have no attachment to the build but i still think we shouldn't be changing things based on unskilled players. That is my opinion and you are entitled to yours

If at any point you believe you encountered someone who might be using those kind of 3rd party programs, I recommend reporting them alongside with a support ticket that includes evidence. The team can the look at it and evaluate the case based on evidence provided and other factors.

do you know if behavior is doing anything about the hacking problem? As in trying to get a better anti cheat or anything? or is hacking here to stay?

Because it’s not a fact, it’s your opinion and you are just taking your own narrow view on this.

you know how witch-hunters justified their action? By stating their opinion is a fact.

why are you so offensive when you already got told objective arguments for the change?

How is that an opinion? He didn't like it and he changed it. My opinion is that its bad for the game. YOUR witch hunt stems from trying to peg me for targeting new player which is not what this was about.

  • @BadMrFrosty said:

    No.

    :(

Seems like thats the answer. I was just hoping to get some vague "yeah we are working on it" at the very least. The content creators glorify them and we get radio silence on the subject from behavior. Just makes me sad because i care about the health of the game

But it is not taking away a playstyle. For killers against lower skilled survs Huntress lullaby is still affective. For more skilled players it isn’t really affective but it wasn’t before as well.

you are the one witch-hunting against Almo btw for a change that was actually needed. Don’t use that ‘argument‘ on me XD

uhh how am i witch hunting by stating a fact? Why are you so defensive?

There are many in the community that didn’t roll their eyes but that realized that this was a fair change.

why would you want something in the game that is literally only making the experience of new players worse but won’t affect more skilled players whatsoever?

I dont like limiting the choice of playstyle of the playerbase. thats it take your witch hunt somewhere else

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2520978#Comment_2520978

So you want one challenging thing in a game which is super-easy to pick up and play for everything else? Its not like DBD is hard in any way, but something like Lullaby affecting Madness Skill-Checks (which were the only Skill Checks affected, because neither Jigsaw-Boxes nor Cages were affected by Lullaby during this time) is just something which is hurting the experience of new or inexperienced players.

And those should also be able to play the game.

I'm not going to sit here and belittle people because they had a hard time with it. They already got rid of it. Why are so defending such a dumb nerf? no one asked for it. the community collectively rolled their eyes when they announced it. Those players could lose one game and try and get better and not ruin 1 type of match we could have had in the game.

Glad that you are not developing games. New players are always needed, and you can expect that someone who cannot play the game because they go against a Doctor using that Build will not have fun and probably wont touch the game again.

When he nerfed it my thought was immidiately "We just beat that build #########? lol" are you serious we are censoring what the f now? You guy are aware of what this game is right? a game about murdering people. and we cant say that?

I'm of the group of gamers that wants their game to be challenging not hand holding. The amount of times you would have seen that build is very small. If at all at lower ranks. not only that you need a killer that can capitalize off of the build and not get rng screwed with the totem spawn. Which was worse back then. It was a meme build and you went in not expecting to win.

The Lullaby-Change was a healthy change. There is a big difference between Lullaby being annoying because the Gen keeps blowing up and not being able to play at all because you cannot snap out of Madness.

    Not every players is experienced.

how hard is it to watch for a skill check? thats laughable. I've played against the build it takes no effort. Its the whole point of the build. How about we dont nerf things based off of people who cant play the game? lol

Thats interesting, I'm seeing the opposite. Crap teams when i play survivor. Sweat squads when i play killer. Its been a pretty bad change overall

the only way this happens is if a chain spawns right before you go to solve it. So dodge the chains before you solve. Pinhead is far from op

I am using this combo pretty often and I can tell you it works like this :

3 totems ignite. If they cleanse the hg one, undying will respawn it somewhere else and you get 1 min of oneshot. Also youre able to use hg again.

If they cleanse the undying Totem nothing happens. Hg can only trigger once in that match.

You were just extremely unlucky that they cleansed undying all the time.

Smth else can also happen :if they cleanse enough dull totems (2+) then even when breaking hg first there is no Totem hg can travel to and you still get only one oneshot.

So basically hope that they dont do dull totems and that they break the hg and not the undying one

Thats what i thought. I'll keep trying with it. Great Hag gameplay btw

  • like 4 or 5. haunted went off twice in separate matches lol

if they add in a outlast chapter, who will the killer/survivor be and what will the perks/power and perks be?

If we ever get an outlast chapter i predict a paragraph with only a killer and maybe a map. Miles would be the obvious choice for survivor and red barrels didnt make a model for him that I'm aware of.

If I were to pick options for a full chapter I'd go Mount massive as a realm and there are plenty of areas you can choose including the main entrance hall, basement, lab, and courtyard.

Killer I would prefer Richard Trager. While the groom is obviously the best and chris walker is somewhat of a poster child they both dont bring anything unique. Trager has his scissors. Otherwise Wallrider would be my choice for killer.

Miles would be the survivor of choice, if we were to get one.

Also screw outlast 2 that game was a shiny turd

  • @Ghoste said:

It would increase dodging, so no. This is why we don't see other players' ranks or perks in lobby, and also why they'll never show SWF. Queue times can already reach 10+ minutes for some of us. Let's not go making them longer.

My survivor que times are instant solo and swf. My killer wait times are forever soooo who has long wait times? I seriouslyu doubt you are getting 10 min+ survivor que times. At the cost waiting longer they get to use outside help like coms. yeah i think they can wait . Or at aminimum we can test and see if its even a thing. I predict that it wont have much impact on wait times. They tested mmr for a year they can test this too.

  • @Katie_met said:

SWF is so misrepresented in this community. Yes you get those sweaty SWFs, yes they're an absolute PAIN to play against. But people almost forget just how many casual SWFs there are. If the killer is told that they're playing against a SWF, they might put on a toxic or tryhard build, and purposely play aggressive to a team that might just be playing casual. That will then just put that casual SWF off the game, and might cause a massive reduction in players.

You definitely play against more SWFs than you realise, you just don't know it since not all of them are toxic.

Are you saying that you dont want to risk going against a sweaty killer because you dont know who you are facing? Welcome to my view, except reversed. The difference is that these swfs use outside tools to give them an advantage.

Those casual swfs will play at a lower skill rating and wont see the sweat fest. Or you might be saying that you like playing against casual killers and dont want to see high rank killers? Either way swf gets to usee unfair outside help like coms and stretch res. So let the killers decide if they want to deal with it or not

But you trashing solo teams ("relatively high win rate") is fair? Why is no one doing something about it? Don't excuse it with "well because i'm good i won there". Killers are used to win most of their games, i'm too! Maybe those swf teams were just better or they had good RNG. Swf's are overrated, i played in so many 4mans where no one could loop longer than 15 seconds. Comms is not everything. We all know that the game is survivor sided on highest level but this only goes for tournament levels, not your random red rank pub matches. I play in 4mans since months only because solo is unbearable. And guess what, we don't escape more than 50% of our games. It highly depends on RNG, map, first decisions in a match/ early game, willingness to sweat from everyone, killers will to play "fair" etc. And a killer proxy camping and hard tunneling? It's the same for me, there is no counterplay except a few perks you can play around, and don't tell me it's fun gameplay to smash gens while the killer facecamps your friend to death because he had a bad day or doesn't know how to win any other way.

You are not getting the difference between bad and good swfs. I'm not trashing anything except the unbalanced state that swf can be at high level. Swfs can wait a bit longer for killers who also will play sweaty.

All this talk about killer woes is just what aboutisms. An "us vs them" mentality because you dont like what im purposing. This will also help solo q a bit against some killers. Some killers choose to go into a game and play using those dirty tactics you are talking about. If they dont and its one of these teams its an automatic loss. Just because they dont know who they are facing they are forced to assume it will be a sweaty swf or risk an L. If those same killers saw a whole group of solo q or maybe just a 2 man or 3 man they may be less inclined to play like this. Wherer is my killer bias? use you know what you can blame? swf. Its because of these swfs that these killers do this becaus of my scenario i painted above.

If you actually want to do something about these scummy tactics that some killers Thats a game balance talk and im not even talking about that here. I dont agree with killers who do that stuff in non sweaty environments. I agree those games suck but thats their only tool against those teams. So if they balance out swf then they can try and do something about killers playing like this. It'll have to be after they balance swfs though otherwise you are punishing the killer for just trying to stay competitive at the highest level

My machine's pretty beefy since it was made for 3d rendering and editing, so I don't think that's the issue, and other online games, including DBD as long as I play survivor, are working just fine as well.

    Ryzen threadripper 3960x

    128gb ddr4 3600 ram

    GTX 3070 ti

Game is installed on a 1tb nvme SSD

(Obviously there's more but that's all I can think of that would be relevant)

I did end up submitting a report that has a short clip compilation and more details, and I will say I've not experienced this before this patch.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/279394/teleporting-as-killer-survivors-teleporting-when-playing-as-killer#latest

It's driving me nuts, I don't know what would begin to cause this if my ping sits comfortably at 50ish ms, and I have task manager monitoring my connection open on another monitor the whole time, and nothing looks off there, either.

    Yeah thats a crazy system

you try validating the files then if that doesnt work reinstalling the game?

After watching it makes me think maybe its a connection to the server issue. Are you using a VPN?

  • @SuffragetteCity said:

Since the pinhead update, I can't play killer. I constantly teleport backwards and sideways during chases, survivors teleport around, all this with a ping of around 50 on a wired connection. Not only is it not my connection, but it's not even all of DBD. I can play the exact same time of day with survivor, on the same connection on the same PC with the same settings with no issues whatsoever. No latency, no teleporting, nothing. It's getting so old how fundamentally broken this game becomes with each new patch. Since no one on the dev team bothered to fix this during the PTB, when can we expect to see the game be playable at all for killer?

I'm not experiencing any of this. Whats your system specs? A vid showing this would help

i only partially agree with you with SWF having an impact on high ranking games, due to only the fact that it requires a killer to play differently. the purpose is still there all across the board, however; a party of individuals working together to play against a killer. i do not deny that comms exist, nor do i deny that information sharing exists, though it needs to be recognized that factors like this have always existed in games that allow individuals to band together.

i digress; your opening post, from my understanding, puts the reason of "games being sweaty" in with SWF and SBMM. i just wanted to outline the reasons as to why you cannot balance SWF and why you shouldn't attempt to solely just because of SBMM trying to do its job after release. ^^

Swf with coms have a massive impact on the game. Its not just play differently to compensate. There entire catagories of perks that this makes useless so that they can focus on meta perks. Suprise is taken away from the killer and a good team will almost always know where the killer is. Just that last one in the right hands is an automatic loss for 99% of games with these sweatier swfs. I'm not even suggesting any changes to this because im not purposing any here. All I want to know is if i am facing one. Thats it.

  • @Skittlesthehusky said:

has anyone actually considered that DBD is a party game....... that is asymmetrical. it's meant to be a randomized game to prevent you from getting bored.

you will always have outliers that make the game seem "unbalanced" or sweaty, but that's just how it is.

the point of SWF was to be able to play with your friends, idk where people got this notion that it's purposefully meant to ruin a killer's day. trying to balance something that has an extreme amount of variables (casual players, competitive players, people who understand fundamentals, people who don't, people having different reaction times, people who are sharp on their controls, etc.), let alone with a game that has a bunch of variables (RNG, spawn systems, map tiles, offerings, killer perks and powers, etc.) is unorthodox. showing who's in a party and who isn't simply because skill-based matchmaking hasn't gotten a chance to regulate itself is completely unnecessary.

SBMM has only been out for maybe a week. it takes about a month for it to put players where it needs to be. making changes to parties, exposing them, etc. won't make matchmaking's algorithm resolve itself any faster.

I dont think you are completely wrong but I think swf has more of an impact in high ranking games then you are letting on. Which is not fun for anyone except said swf. Just because its nature itself is unorthodox doesnt mean we shouldnt be trying to make it better

We've both read the previous chapters of the BVHR Adventures novel, and I think you and I both know that this data will likely not be used effectively (if at all). The game's issues are extensively catalogued across hundreds of posts, videos, and guides. Content creators speak on them every day, as do the player base. If BVHR truly cared and wanted to push the game in a healthier direction, they would've already done it, especially since the resources are freely available to browse through/watch.

Balance will go in whatever direction tickles their fancy, regardless of how non-sensical and misguided the decisions may be. As I've said before, BVHR is living in a fantasy world where they're looking at and using their "privately collected data/stats" as the primary metric for balancing the game based on how they want it to be played. They're ignoring the reality of the situation, and this will eventually bite them if they don't pull it together.

Don't get me wrong behavior has issues, but they have been making good decisions on many different things this year. A lot of people like to just see the bad. They care its just that they are to slow to address things. Like I said I'm optimistic

I did read your comments. I literally quoted you. And it looks more to me like you revised your stance a bit after getting some pushback. In other words, you moved the goalposts from 'I want to see SWF groups so I can avoid them' to 'I just want to see them so I can sometimes maybe avoid them' to 'I just want to see them so I can know if I lost fairly or not.' None of those are direct quotes - just summations of your shifting positions.

You still use language like "cheated" to describe losing to a SWF team. How is using a built-in game mechanic cheating? And no, don't bring up comms. I can say with utmost confidence that the developers knew people in groups would be using comms when they made this game. Voice comms is not a new, revolutionary thing that came about after the development cycle of this game began. It was expected and planned for all along. In other words, the devs don't consider the use of comms cheating. Nor do they consider playing with a group cheating. So why do you?

Sure, let's test your idea. I'm fine with it being on the test server. And while we're testing that, let's also lock killers out of queue every time they dodge a lobby. Because knocking down their MMR for leaving (which is what you suggested) isn't really a penalty. That's just giving killers who want to seal club an imminently abuse-able mechanic to do so.

no, you are paraphrashing and all of those quotes are still my opinion. So I've moved no goal post only further clarified my position. Also if i were to get other peoples opinions or "pushback" I dont change my opinon to strengthen my stance. Unlike a lot of swf defenders on here. If I were presented with something I overlooked or new info I would revaluate my position. Thats called a growing from a productive discussion. There has been nothing said that has changed my position yet but there have been things said that made me think about things in a different light. Once again you are just putting words in my mouth. This is the issue with this community its all my side vs your side theres no productive talk on here just a bunch of people trying to defend their tribe. Not specifically talking about you but there are a lot of people that are just trying to push things and not try to have productive conversations.

I never said that it was cheating i said i felt cheated. Theres a difference there. I do not care if you or the devs consider coms cheating. It is a massive advantage for those swfs, and if the game is ever going to see some sort of balance it should be addressed. At least in some way, but thats nopt what this post is about.

All I want is a test. I don't see the big deal in that. I can see how it could be abused to maybe smurf, so how would you prevent that?

I'm at 16 solo escapes in a row. The top percentile of survivors are going to look like Seal Team SWF regardless of party composition. There are more top percentile survivors online than top killers at any given moment. Just how player distribution works. SBMM is going to struggle with matchmaking at the top and widen the search.

Even more reason to show killers whos in swf or not. If i lost to a solo q team then i wouldnt feel as cheated

Please for the love of your killer playerbase do something about gen speeds. stop denying that they're not the problem because they 100% are. I know most of you cant get past rank 12 but ffs watch any high rank play on YT and if they dont have Ruin their gens ######### FLY by.

Its been long enough, address it please.

Optimistic me thinks that they added sbmm to get data to address balance at the high end

    OP edited the post.

It originally said "What if Survivors only needed to be hooked twice?"

I dont agree with he 2 hook thing, but my opinion still stands. This meta needs a shake up

Okay, fine. You never LITERALLY said those words. But let's take a look at a few things you have said. Your original post has been HEAVILY edited since you first made it, but it still says -

"Show whos in swfs so im not constantly facing them."

How would simply SHOWING you ensure that you don't constantly face them? Oh wait, it wouldn't. The only way you would be able to ensure you're not constantly facing them after being shown they're there...would be to dodge them. You also said -

"I think they can suffer to wait until they find a killer that wants to deal with it."

Once again, implying that you would REALLY just like to dodge SWF teams. Let someone else deal with it. And if they constantly get dodged because everyone just ASSUMES every single SWF is a super competitive, amazing tryhard team? Even if they're just filthy casuals? Your opinion = screw 'em. They can wait. You also said -

"I should be able to choose not to go against these tryhards every match"

Once again, showing your real motivation for wanting to be able to see SWF groups in the lobby.

Here's a thought - even IF you were shown SWF groups in the lobby, how would you, or anyone, know how good they are? You wouldn't.

So what would you do? Based on your comments here, most of the time you'd dodge.

In my coments on here if you actually read them. I have also stated that i would only dodge if ive been facing consistent sweaty swfs. Whats with the attack on my character here? over seeing whos in swf? hmm You are trying to put words in my mouth.

I've already explained to someone else that the wait times for sweaty high mmr swfs will be different then casual swfs because their mmr will be lower.

Also I have to ask whats more fair? Trying to take into account n unbalanced feature of the game that is obviously being abused by these teams or waiting an extra 5 min? I would argue that if you are willing to give yourself an advantage over other players then you can wait longer. That is more fair, but i still dont think that the wait times would be that bad nor would i want them to be.

Like I said there is nothing wrong with testing this. They've already tested mmr for a year.

A lot of killer mains think they are so good they deserve to 4k every match and that when they don't, the game was somehow unfair to them. They don't realize that if MMR is working properly, and they are one of the best killer mains, all they can really hope for is a 2k on average - ie a draw.

Im not asking to win every match. Just to know if im facing a swf or not. Nor am i claiming to be one of the best killer mains. who are you talking to?
