Were you on PC? Can you provide a log?

HOW TO GET YOUR LOGS (THIS PART ONLY APPLY TO PC PLAYERS):

When you get the issue, close your game and do not reopen it until you get your logs.

    • Press Win+R
    • Type in appdata
    • Press OK
    • In opened window navigate to: \Local\DeadByDaylight\Saved\Logs
    • Usually you would need to attach the DeadByDaylight.log file.
    • Add the file to your bug report

Yes and I didnt know how. Now that I do if it happens again I'll get it for you.

  • You should have saw it like 4 years ago. They are sooooo much better at addressing stuff now. That doesnt mean there isnt room for improvement

  • The vitriol he got for his political affiliation is childish and entitled

  • The funny thing is the swap between characters via left or right solved the whole going through the whole list to get to the new character too. Not that it was even an issue that needed to be solved

  • I get this crap all the time

  • A few things will cause me to tunnel.

    1. Gens are progressing too fast and I need to make a comeback or just get 1 kill depending on how fast the match is progressing.
    2. excessive bm. Im not talking about a point or a bit o bag or flashlight click. I'm talking thats why they're there. To annoy me. If they wont play nice I wont either.
    3. Working on a gen injured right in front of me after they were unhooked.
    4. Blocking with basekit bt. If I am led back to hook and they get farmed. If previous things havent happened I'll go after the person who unhooked. If they see me doing this and decide they want to force me to tunnel then thats exactly what I'll do reguardless of where we are in the trial.

Its a slope kind of thing. If I'm playing babies I'll play normally but if they want to sweat act out then so will I. Shits kind of simple

  • Just ran into this myself

  • I got no perks as survivor one time. ######### was annoying

  • @Nazzzak said:

Scroll down the page and make sure everything is linked. Mine always unlinks and I have to constantly redo it.

That was it. Excuse my stupid lmao. Thank you!

  • They announced a rework like 2 years ago I think lmao

I just want to chime in and reassure you that we have not forgotten or stopped caring about cheating. It is still a high priority. To your point, we have been implementing improving detection to ideally catch cheaters before they can do any harm, and we're continuing to work on additional ways to detect cheaters automatically. This makes it a little difficult to talk about, though, since any details could be beneficial to cheat makers trying to find a workaround, or warn cheaters that their cheats are now detected (and would lead to them getting banned).

We absolutely agree that it is not your responsibility to report them, though we do appreciate any reports we receive.

Thats good to hear and what I was looking for. Thank you for responding

  • @mikewelk said:

Well I got accused by a Wesker yesterday of subtle cheating and apparently having haste as if I was running Hope during endgame. Poor guy wasted his time reporting me.

Thats the crappy part. We will never know.

  • Oni or dredge. Oni would be neat hack and slash. Dredge could be a scary alan wake like game

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    Toxicity. Thats all.

You already get blamed that you play in an SWF while being Solo. And while I would totally love to show some Killers that they just lost against 4 Solos and not some Comp-SWF as they think, we all know that it would just lead to toxicity, because Killers would think that they only lost because the opponent was in an SWF and not because they missed 40% of their Hatchets or blinked into the Basement while chasing a Survivor around Shack 5 times. (Heck, some will probably even claim that they went against Hackers because they were shown as Solos while CLEARLY being SWF...)

And in this forum? You would only see lost games gainst SWFs so that people can "prove their point". They will not show the games they won against SWF or lost against Solos. We would only get a very selective view on postgame screenshots...

I dont think this is an excuse at all, players already harass other players this wont impact that. This just serves to gaslight. Now we are left to wonder.

  • @Xernoton said:

My best guess is harassment. You could theoratically start checking whoever played in a SWF after every game and harass them for that but I'm grasping at straws here.

I think the real reason is that they just don't care as much. To them it might not even be an issue. They have their data and that's what they trust in. And seeing as we have a MMR system and almost half of all survivors supposedly play in a SWF, it would make sense that the statistical difference is negligable.

aka they are ok with gaslighting the playerbase. It does matter to data concerning solo q vs swf. sub par killers will always claim swf and everyone else is left wondering adding nothing. zero reason not to add it. players already harass other players nonstop. If they go overboard then its reportable. So I dnot view this as a viable excuse.

  • @Xendritch said:

For the life of me I can't imagine why this matters.

If it doesnt matter theres also no reason not to show it. But Im not going further into why it matter since you agree it shouldnt matter

The devs answered this on their AMA. Basically it boiled down to, it is an arms race. They patch cheats and the cheats then get better.

Thats been said a number of times and doesnt answer anything I was asking.

Yes you are a hypocrite for thinking that its ok to defend people who just want to play with friends while leaving those who are unable to behind. That aspect indeed makes you a hypocrite. I dont say that to insult only If you were to grow to understand why that is a thing maybe we could advance the conversation.

This is very clearly an insult, not to mention disproportional to my actions. If you won't keep a respectful discussion, then I see no reason to continue.

Incorrect. It is not an insult. merely pointing out a fact. If you cant see how you are being hypocritical thats on you.

  • @Hexling said:

The only way to balance it is to make solo q as close to swf as possible imagine buying any other multiplayer game and you cant join your friends which are probably the reason you bought the game in the first place. Just because you CHOOSE to play the solo role shouldn't gate keep others from enjoying the game. If you think solo q is enjoyable well then there's a whole other topic to discuss.

You are looking at it from only the one side though.

Just because you choose to play swf shouldn't gate keep others from enjoying the game.

What if players dont have others to play with? Your advantage shouldnt make their experience worse. See what I mean?

For context. A optimal swf will stomp a suboptimal killer who will then use an optimal build to stomp solo q. Solo q is the victim of swfs advantage, yet you are saying its not fair to bring swf down to solo q's level because the ones on top would be inconvenienced.

  • @GeneralV said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3606198#Comment_3606198

You don't have to change your build nor playstyle because you lost a single game. I don't play sweaty because I don't like it, and it doesn't matter if I get stomped once or twice. This is entirely a "you problem". Besides, if you can "stomp teams in succession", then an individual playing with friends shouldn't scare you that much.

Everyone else is saying it: BHVR will not punish people for playing with friends. Not only is it unfair and unnecessary, but many players would actually leave if that happened.

And you call me a hypocrite? Really? Wow, what great hypocrisy to think players shouldn't be punished for daring to play with friends.

Thats just it and thats the thing you do not understand. Its not I feel like I have to change my build because I lost a single game. Its I'm losing multiple games because I want to use unique fun build and the survivors are using optimal builds on multiple occasions. I dont want to stomp every team.

All I would want as a killer is to know the fault is entirely on me. However with the discrepancy between solo q and swf and the lack of knowledge on whether or not I'm facing a swf. I have no discourse then to assume that the team is just bringing better stuff then me and bringing outside help to get and advantage that solo q does not have. So in turn I will bring the good stuff and play dirty to counter those teams. Which screws over solo teams who will face the wrath that those killers have for teams that deserve it.

Very simply Optimal Swf creates optimal killer who screws over unopimal swf killer and solo q. It is not a difficult concept to understand.

I want all players to be on a level playing field.

  • @Hexling said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/399883/im-back-and-its-time-for-a-real-conversation-about-what-swf-does-to-this-game

Got it I cant play with my friends because it inconveniences you. If there is an online MULTIPLAYER game I cant play with my friends I'm 100% not playing it.

Got it so if I dont have people to play with on the game that I like I should be placed at a disadvantage to people who do. If thers an online multiplayer it should favor those who can play with friends not those who cannot.

In all seriousness if you were brought to the level of solo q with your friends, what have you lost? I'm asking for a balance between the two and all you are hearing is that you are taking a ding because you can have an advantage by playing with people you know.

  • @CountOfTheFog said:

I only have friends that I made playing the game. Therefore, we never met in real life and can't communicate via discord. Should we be punished too when we play together?

Yes because you know their skill level. I'm not saying anything crazy but you still have a sizeable advantage over solo because you know their skill level.

  • @NomiNomad said:

BHVR will never, ever punish people for playing with friends. Which, yes. giving them a penalty would do that. This is a multiplayer game, first and foremost. Imagine any other game imposing some sort of disadvantage just becasue you're playing with your friends? I'm not saying SWF doesn't give an advantage - it does, but it would do the same in any other game. Playing with your friends is always gonna be better than playing with a bunch of randos. However, most of the time, you don't even know you're playing against a SWF, because this game is mostly casual.

This has been talked about for as long I've been apart of this community, and the answer is always no - BHVR won't do anything about it. If people playing with their friends bothers you so much, you shouldn't be playing multiplayer games.

Heres the main issue though. BHVR have always said that camping and tunneling have been valid strats and they still made measures to prevent the most egregious examples of it. Has it stopped camping and tunneling? No. As it shouldnt have. The same can and should be done with swf.

If you had the option to play solo or with friends and there was no difference then you will still choose to play with friends. Period

  • @GeneralV said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3606189#Comment_3606189

The thing is, mate, I am the killer that doesn't play sweaty. I am the solo queue survivor in the lobby. That is how I play DBD.

And no, I don't want the SWF groups that I encounter to be punished because they dared to play with friends. Like I said, the average SWF squad doesn't have a huge advantage over everyone else. Or perhaps you can argue that they have, in theory, but they don't use it.

It is just people playing with friends, nothing more. Punishing people for doing that will be extremely detrimental for the game.

Well heres the main issue, mate, I play not sweaty with fun builds, but there are games that I lost because I faced teams who will play sweaty that are leagues beyond the teams that I stomp in succession. So when this happens I'm obliged to play with better builds and play dirty to counter teams that will play like this. I do not like playing like this but I feel like it is a necessity to do so.

And yes I do want swf to know that they will be taking a penalty for playing with advantage so that they will take the advantage. That way the outliers are no longer outliers and are taken into account. You are full of it if you think that swfs dont have an advantage over solo. They have it solo q just baseline. Just with the fact that they know who they are teaming with and their skill level or whether they are not going to give up on first down or one hook themselves. Thats base line. Not all the other advantages that swf enjoys.

The thing I find insulting is that you are unable to accept the fact that swfs should take a ding for playing with friends but are ok with solo q taking the hit for choosing to play solo q. When they are undoubtedly the bottom of the ladder.

  • @HugTechLover said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3606181#Comment_3606181

Yea.. me… the killer main. Right.

    1) SWF does not automatically give advantage. Many of them aren’t on comms. Many of them die to altruism. Many of them are no better than your average solo team.

    2) false equivalencies. You think killers bring the builds they bring because of SWF’s? Lmao. Killers who want to win, are going to bring their win build regardless if it’s a swf or not.

    3) You wanting swf nerfed says a lot about how you play killer.. you said “solo q is a guaranteed stomp”. But you want swf nerfed down… do you only want to stomp in every match?

    4) There is a ton of copium with killers and “SWF”. God forbid a solo q team smacks you.. it HAS to be a SWF because they beat you. The amount of times I’ve seen in chat, killers refusing to believe we were solo. It’s such a scapegoat term when you need a reason why you lost.

Lastly, SWF will never be nerfed. You cannot punish people for playing with friends. It’s already been made clear that’s not on the agenda, so work on your own gameplay and overcome the challenge of these big scary SWF’s.

Uh huh lets go through this then.

    1) Swf auto guarantees you know the quality of your teammates. That by itself disproves your point. Coms are a bonus, and a heavy one at that. Many of the sweaty teams understand the concept of over altruism and will play against the killers expectation of playing into it. Those who would be in no better of a position as compared to a solo q team still stand at a disadvantage because these killers play with the expectation to play against a well-coordinated swf. So zero points there.

    2) Yes I addressed this already but you ignored it because you obviously are biased. Those are indeed issues but you cant take away killers tools to counter the teams i'm talking about if they are still not balanced. You must take it away from the most powerful role which undoubtedly is swf. Side note I love how you try to say false equivalencies when both sides are guilty. Survivors will do this to in the opposite direction because of the most powerful denominator. Which are high level swfs.

    3) There you go you showed your hand and proved you didnt read the whole thread. I said the base line of this is that solo q is left behind. I'm fine as a killer, slightly annoyed, but not ok as a solo q survivor. So if I want swf nerfed to solo q I also want the killer aspects nerfed that were used to compensate to said swfs.

    4) then here is the issue with the devs. Killers have no concept to wether or not they are facing solo q or a swf. This should be addressed in end game. I wonder why its not.

In conclusion. The swfs that are messing around and having fun will not be effected by minor tweaks that prevent slamming through objective because they werent planning on slamming through them in the first place. So why do you feel the need to defend the discrepancy between top level of swf play and base solo q? I can tell you why. You dont want to lose your advantage. Checkmate.

I think you're just looking at things from a strange angle. SWFs are tough and I hate getting sent to GoJ or Eyrie against the top stuff as much as the next guy, but removing things from people that just want to hang with friends is a very silly idea.

I addressed this. Go slow make changes minor so to teams that want to just hang its not that big of a deal. Its like the anit camp. Did it stop camping? no. but it stopped the dumb egregious examples. same concept.

  • @GeneralV said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3606169#Comment_3606169

But killers aren't punished because people wanted to play with friends. SWF groups like the legendary Depip Squad are extremely rare, and you're unlikely to see one of those.

Most of the time, SWFs are just friends chilling and talking about something else. Usually you don't even know they are there.

Today, for example, I played against against a 3 man SWF. Matching names and all. Guess what, the match played the exact same as it would've with four Solo players. And I even managed to kill all 4 survivors. While playing Freddy. With Third Seal.

Did those players deserve a punishment? Did I find myself with a huge disadvantage?

    No, definitely not.

Nah dude I'm talking not about those legendary depip squads. This applies to base line swf. If they want to throw their hat into playing together then they need to understand that by itself grants them an advantage over those who didnt get together to play the game. I also dont care about those teams that want to screw around because at the end of the day the minor base line changes shouldnt mess with them.

So I ask you those killer show went in with a fun build and got destroyed for not playing sweaty at the start or running meta at the start. Did those players deserve a punishment? Did they I find myself with a huge disadvantage? Absolutely

Then for those killers that experience that bs. Guess what. Those casual players in solo q that you are referring to have to deal with killers that feel like they have to deal with sweaty teams. Which is bs.

So the minority hold advantage over both killer and solo q. Which is bs

  • @HugTechLover said:

Your post is riddled with false equivalency fallacy.

You saying “playing with friends needs to be addressed” is wild. Yea… let’s punish people for playing with friends… not a great look.

See this is exactly what I'm talking about. You hide behind your gameplay experience and deny others. This is that self centered mentality I'm talking about. You assume just because you play with friends it should automatically allow you an advantage over all the other players in the game. Its selfish to both the killers you face and the solo q teams that have to face the builds and playstyles those killers use to compensate for said teams. The fact you cant see that says everything about how you play survivor

  • @Wowie said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3606169#Comment_3606169

This is with any game though. Why do you feel that DbD needs to be different and penalize playing with others?

I'm also not in favor of a voice chat or callout wheel for SoloQ. The game needs to maintain some sort of horror atmosphere.

Essentially, it's just something you have to deal with.

I think before anything BHVR needs to take a step back and look at map balancing.

Speaking of maps, a great change would be inverting map offerings. Instead of forcing you to go to a specific map, it should exclude the realm. I think the map pool is big enough for that now, even if all 5 players were to bring a map offering.

Once again Its about balance not about feeling like you are being penalized. Thats why I said take it slow and add changes to it that are not crazy. I 100% agree about the map stuff and anything to bring solo q more aligned with swf. However swf in of it self bring the game away from that horror atrmo that you are talking about.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Punishing people for playing with their friends will never work. I will never for the life of me understand how people can say they think the game should be a non-competitive, relaxing experience where they can experiment with builds, and then in the same breathe suggest players should be punished for playing with friends. Say it out loud. It doesn't make sense.

You don't know that you went against a SWF most of the time. It's a duo half the time, with an actual 4 man being less than 10% of all matches. Want to punish duos or trios? You're punishing solos too at that point. People who had nothing to do with SWF.

SWF is not a bully simulator. Not if the killer is good and matchmaking did its job. SWF is not the reason someone gets less than 6 hooks in an entire game.

This is a completely disingenuous conversation point. Because it doesn't take into fact that you are now punishing killers for not knowing they are taking disadvantage playing against the survivor team. Its not about whether or not the killer wants to experiment with their build or not. Its the fact that they cannot if they expect to win. Say it out loud. It doesn't make sense.

You don't know that you went against a swf or any combo at the time. So how do you know the coordination levels when starting to make your build before the match?

SWF can indeed be a bully sim and most people who ignore facts refuse to acknowledge this as a factor. Swf undoubtedly can be a factor in why you didnt get a certain amount of hooks in a match. Anyone arguing to the contrary are disingenuous period.

  • @GeneralV said:

But people aren't doing anything wrong. You shouldn't be punished just because you wanna play with your friends.

Its not about doing anything wrong or right. Its about balance. Which if you are playing with a team guarantees you have an advantage over killer and in conjunction solo q. Those killers shouldn't be punished just because they want to play killer. See how that works the opposite way?

Which negatively impacts solo q because those killers impacted have nothing to tell them they are about to be at a disadvantage to the survivors. So they bring perks or a playstyle to counter them that could be used to smear solo q teams that didnt have that advantage in the first place.

  • @bm33 said:

Whether or not they deserve it it is working with the killer. While it's DEFINITELY frustrating and makes you want to rat out the other player, depending on how it's done it can backfire on the one that's the tattle tail. If they report you and send down video to support it's going to only be their POV of you working with the killer not your POV of them just hiding.

yeah I figured as much just wanted to see if anyone would confirm my suspicions.

  • who is betraying who? the one who hides all match or the one who points them out?

  • @HoodedWildKard said:

Hiding, though frustrating and cowardly is a legitimate tactic. Pointing your team mate out to the killer however is not. Kinda sucks but hey the killer will certainly thank you. Someone did this for me while I was playing demo, I decided to let them go since they fed me lol.

Hiding from the killer is not what I'm talking about though.

  • @Saitamfed said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3260889#Comment_3260889

I mean, hiding because BBQ doesn't hurt your team, the killer will not receive any information of the perk... the perk value resides in knowing where to go next and actually saves a lot of time, so hide and the killer will need to patrol every gen.

This isnt hidding from bbq. Its hidding watching your whole team die and doing nothing waiting for hatch or the door.

  • @sulaiman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/354341/is-it-considered-working-with-the-killer-if

    Yes, it is bannable.

Anyway, i wont belive what other survivors think because they didnt see you. I had games where i was accused for hidding all game when i did 3 gens alone, but never got hooked because i juked the killer 3 times in a chase and he lost me.

Also i had games where people blamed me for not working on gens while i had run the killer for 4 gens...

A lot of survivors dont have any clue whats going on with their teammates (thats why i run bound in almost every build)

I've had games like that as well. This is about people who are hiding to get hatch or try for the door way to early. Just watching the team die

  • I've said this exact thing before. I agree let the killer see the hook counter. I do the same counting thing in my head lmao. The 0-1-1-0 stuff lol. It is completely wrong to think that not seeing hook states will prevent tunneling. If I want to tunnel someone out I dont need a counter to do that. However if I am stomping and want to give them a bit of a break then I'll seek the 12 hooks. So not having the counter just makes "nice" killers accidently tunnel when they arnt keeping track.

  • First game of the night 2 people 1 hooking themselves. I was able to get 1 save from the last person. The huntress camped the other hook of the last teammate. The whole time I was trying to work on gens but she had pain resonance so I couldnt make too much progress since people were getting hooked so fast. I was able to get out without getting hit via hatch. Still a depip, so now I'm back to no pips iri 3 because people refuse to play this game. Im just going to throw all notable games in this post.

Not excusing them, but I noticed both you and the killer have bad ping. I've had a couple games lately where it's been near impossible for me to play because the killer or a teammate have bad ping. I went down in like 2 seconds every chase with a Wesker the other night, where I'd try run through a doorway, for instance, and a second later my game jumps and my character is running into a corner and going down. It could be that they simply couldn't play.

I can confirm both instances were rage quits. One when they discovered what killer it was and the other on first down. Png was fine during that match. Even with the symbols up the whole time I had no latency issues and the killer had no odd hits from what I could see.

  • 20221102154455_1.jpg

I kid you not the very next game. These games followed a game where i got the chance to play with a good swf against a competent wraith that I double pipped on. Very good game. All progress taken away because people dc. Horrible system. Im at Iri 3 and I think Im just going to settle for that. Since 1 in 3 games are normal.

  • no alien...........yet. It will come I guarantee it. Also I dont think that Predator is a good match for dbd, but I'm not against it. I just cant see Predator walking around like the other killers. Theres too much in his kit to be humoring people who are usually chased down by myers. Xenomorph is a shoe in imo. They already collaborate with other games. I think its in fall guys. Come on BHVR you let fall guys beat you to it lmao.

  • Glad you enjoyed. Nope just sharing my thoughts on a funny situation.

  • @KateMain86 said:

The problem with hitting a survivor on a hook is that they can't do anything back. You got them on the hook, thats enough. You don't need to hit them while they're down even more. I've had killers hit me on the hook for the entirety of the hook timer. They didn't care to win. They only cared to be toxic. As long as survivor/killler interaction is able to happen then I think everything else is fine but when you're on the hook and can't do anything but hang there and watch your character get hit over and over again, that needs to stop.

Some hard bias here. bm is harmless banter. Hitting survivors on the hook literally harms nothing. If anything it just wastes the killers time. The point of the post is to point out that all forms of bm should be treated the same. In game banter. As someone else has already said just alt tab or walk away for a bit. We've all been there being smacked on the hook. Its silly not harmful.

  • @Mandy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/352626/can-you-clarify-something-about-bans

We don't ban unless we have sufficient evidence of a rules infraction. So mass reporting doesn't do anything unless the person that's being reported has actually done something.

False reporting can lead to access to Support being revoked, but this is in extreme cases.

Yeah but how would you know that anyone did anything wrong? Theres no match playback so you are taking people at their word or do all in game reports require a recording?

  • I'm very thick skinned lmao. As I have said in the original post I have no issue with it. No the post is about how bm should be treated as bm. All are equal. The person after the match didnt like my version of bming in response to theirs. The post is about how for some reason there are people like you who think that its ok to bm one way but not another. Its tit for tat idc if its survivor or killer related.

  • @Crowman said:

It really does. Almost every form of survivor bm gets defended, but even the slightest killer bm gets complained about. You really can't have it both ways.

Either you dislike bm in video games or you don't care.

If u think that pointing at the killer is toxic u are a little too sensitive , no offense, as the guy that thinks that pallet stun the killer is toxic, at the end of the day its pixel on the screen. I could of understand the t bag after the stun , but pointing? come on, now everything in this game is toxic, looping, killing a survivor, doing gens, hooking.. It's becoming ridiculous

I never said it was toxic. Its bm and im ok with it. Your reaction is a bit ridiculous
