Who cares what the 'forums' consider toxic?
How the frig is killing the obsession that has Dying Light considered toxic? Whether you 'tunnel' them down or not is your decision. God forbid these people get killed in a game and just move on to the next one.

Oh don't get me wrong I'm not changing how I play I was just curious to see the forums thoughts.

It's not. I'd rather pair it with a mori though. It makes the job easier.

After the event, I'll start doing that 100%. Those Mori add-ons have been taunting me all week!

Just to be clear on this issue from a 10,000ft view. Survivors don't like camping because it makes a single round less than perfect for the person being camped, correct? Is a single round of being camped, less than 5 minutes of gameplay, so upsetting that it's the actual reason for hundreds of threads?

I'm seriously asking because I play both sides and have yet to get upset about being facecamped because it's such a small amount of time wasted before I can join a new game.

Because it's horrendous for the person on the hook, it's boring for the other survivors, and it causes people to de-pip in a spiteful way.

People want to win but they also want a bit of a thrill. There's none to be had when you're either dangling on a hook unable to play, or holding M1 unchallenged until the gens are finished. That isn't why people play the game.

It happens quite often that's why it's such a big issue.

Plus sometimes people just D/C when they're being camped. So the killer gets his quitter bonus and can camp someone else and win this way. He doesn't care, to him it's another 4k.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I haven't run into that many campers at this point so it seems like a smaller issue to me. However, I can see how it would get real old if it happened all the time. Anything involving a DC just sucks.

    My 3 just for fun!

1: No mercy for survivors. I'll never give a hatch, let you escape or give you a free unhook.
2: Every and all perks are viable. I'll use anything I can and fully expect the survivors to as well
3: If you try to flashlight bully I'll throw the rest of the game to take you out.

Flashlight bullying. A nice vague term so you can use it on anyone with a flashlight

Man survivors really are a touchy bunch. Can't even describe how you play without them getting all up in arms. Let me be more specific since you have such a hard time extrapolating a simple phrase. Flashlight clicking, attempted pallet blinds, etc.

  • Entity blocks your escape if you're inside the exit gate for more than 15 seconds. If you want to help others stay outside it, if not escape.

    Just an idea

0_o kinda missing the point of the topic boys and girls.

I made it to chuckle at the rules one side or the other attempt to force upon each other.

Ohhhh can I add that I've gotten mail about a long bomb hatchet as well! I guess there must be some rule that I can only throw them within a certain distance.

  • My biggest reason for camping is that the other survivors make it the best strategy. If I'm camping you it's because I can see your little friends coming to get you and it makes 0 sense for me to leave the area. I think this aspect gets overlooked a bunch on the forum.

If another survivor is clearly in the immediate area around the hook, I'm going to stay in the area, get the hit or even the down before moving on. It would be crazy not to. Granted this is more of a roaming the hook type camp than the face camp just a note.

  • After this event and my recent games in the purple ranks, I will never show any kind of mercy. So many survivors recently have just been annoying as all hell. Lots of flashlight bullies, toxic messages for clean 4ks, and everything else everyone knows happens.

Case in point. Last night as Myers, I have 2 dead and 1 on the hook with exit gates powered and open. Little Sammy saves a-lot comes over to try and save the hooked person and gets downed by Tier 3. Hook him and he makes the escape, but of course, I'm waiting for it because I suspect he has deliverance. Boom back to the ground and back on the hook.

Like clockwork, I get some message about "Don't you know how rare that is?!" and some name calling. I provide a simple response "Yup, 4%".

No one lives, not ever the 4%.

  • It seems they also hurt you...with a hook through the chest. Also on a serious note how often are you getting face camped?

  • Huntress and anyone.

Always run as a group, the first killer lands a hit and the huntress immediately follows it up with a hatchet.

  • I assume so. You are negatively impacting the game and depending on spawn location (if it's more hidden) could result in holding a game hostage.

  • Nope, they game simply doesn't have enough variety to keep me playing even for free. I find myself getting bored of killer or survivor faster and faster each day. When every round is almost a carbon copy of the one before it I can't see a reason to play much longer.

For those who have 500+ hours, what is it that keeps you playing? Is there some kind of variety I'm missing? At the moment RDR2 and BF5 will completely pull me away from DbD. Add in the fact that a killer queue is now 5-10 minutes and DbD is looking worse and worse for the long term.

  • Well here is my reason, play killer 80% of the time and have bought a few of them but I see no reason to buy a new survivor. I assume there are plenty of people who only use the included survivors so the Dev team puts the most stuff out there for them so the majority of players can buy cosmetics.

  • Is there any reason to play Clown over Huntress? Seems like the same playstyle would apply to both but with the Huntress you can actually down people with your projectile.

  • Salty survivors are now my main source of sustenance. I drink up their tears and eat up their hate like cookies. If you really want some salt, get really good with long bomb hatchets. Oh lordy, the stuff I get sent when I down some dummy with a solid hatchet throw lol.

They destroy the frame rate of killers, some more than others, and some maps are worse than others. Doctor has frame rate issues already. Throw on 360 using survivors and good freaking luck.

And then they wonder why you tunnel them out of the match lol.

On PS4 the 360 literally drops frame rates down to single digits and the auto aim makes this technic practically a glitch. It's still easy enough to counter by simply waiting on your swing and bait out the 360 but I'll still tunnel a 360 survivor just to get them out of my game.

  • I've had some decent success as Trapper in the 7-10 killer rank. I found that placing the traps in really odd spots got me the most hits. I was just dropping them all over the map at random and doing normal gen stalking.

I would recommend putting one or two on the outside of the map. So many sneaky survivors hang out on the edge but never see a trap coming out there. I get an outside trap to hit once every other game, which seems pretty decent to me being it's only there for a random extra catch,

  • I love the OPs username. So is that like a self-hunting thing or what? Survivors are still the easier group to play and win as. I'm pretty even in my play time as killer and survivor and with the patch, I've managed to escape roughly 50% of the time.

ITs not only one outfit you get a max of three unlocks for anything. Keep in mind these cosmetics are extremely high quality and events usually will only give you 1 cosmetic this gives you 3.

lol calling this "3" items when in any other game it's one item. Keep drinking the kool aid.

What other game would you be talking about? Almost every game that has microtransactions breaks them down as much as possible. RB6 Siege will sell you a single gun skin or attachment, same with COD, BF, Destiny, you name it.

Hell, Oblivion sold you a horse armor for God's sake!

  • True, in SWF maybe you rotate who takes the drinks round to round?

  • DBD Drinking Setup as Killer: At the end of the round take 1/2 shot for each kill
DBD Drinking Setup as Survivor: Shot if you survive, 2 shots if you die

Tried this out last weekend and it works real well :-)

I have no idea why this should be changed. To secure a kill for what? So you rank up? So you get more points?
How about that guy on the hook, that you are facecamping to accomplish that? Doesnt he deserve the 5k points more then you for escaping? He actually played better then you, but still you want to screw him cause you want a kill. If you didnt accomplish that in game, Play better next time.

If they are on the hook they didn't play better, they played worse. I don't understand your logic there can you explain how a hooked survivor is playing better than a killer?

  • DC is allowed in very rare situations. Cheating and holding a game hostage are about it.

If you DC because you got hooked early or tunneled you are just a bad player and a poor sport. Maybe you should stick to single player at that point.

  • Question. Are you getting into a lobby and then the killer is leaving or it just takes forever to find a lobby? I ask because the first is due to lobby dodging because and the second if due to what those above me have written out.

  • @huckleberry said:
There should be a required amount of BP earned by the last survivor before the hatch can be used.  This way if the survivor hid/hides like a chump letting their teamates do all work and die that remaing survivor that did nothing should receive nothing but a hook.

Like a key that appears in your inventory after a certain BP is hit.

  • Mine is less about the money really, got the game for free so I can spend the cash on the DLC. It's more the time needed to rank up a killer I hear isn't that great. With a job and 3-month-old, getting a killer to 40 is all of my playtime for a week or two. Add in that I like to play survivor and building a good perk tree is a legit months-long process for me.

  • Going to use a made-up percentage to make this make sense. Nurse is 100% viable at all levels, Billy is 95%.

What they need to do is make all other killers at least 90%. That makes them viable at all levels, not OP and gives a full roster of variety at all play levels.

I will add that this may require some tweaks to survivors to ensure it's not a 4k fest but I'm ok with that if I can use any killer and not feel like I start out at a disadvantage.

If a survivor escapes through hatch when the gates are not opened it counts as a kill in my eyes. Unless they took a key.

Whatever helps you sleep at night.

It's so silly how desperate some of you are for 4ks. You will literally willfully delude yourself into believing that an escape is a kill.

I'm fine with a hatch escape in 1 of 2 scenarios.

1: The survivor has basically camped out the whole game waiting for a 3k and hatch escape, low BP is my indicator for this.

2: The escaped survivor is injured when they get out. I count that as a 50/50. They live but took a hit, seems fair to me.

  • I don't think the number of gens remaining is the issue with the hatch. It needs a rework on how it works but not really when it opens or becomes available to open, should there be a mechanic change.

  • Sorry I let everyone down, all the salt over the healing nerf brought us down.

  • Fun story to add to this thread. Was playing survivor a few days ago and got hooked in the basement by the Shape. He slipped into the corner behind the first set of lockers and just sat there, I went through the motions and the struggle and was the first to die.

After I was dead and no one had fallen for his trick he DC. I got a msg from one of the other survivors telling me the killer had sent them a message to git gud and try to rescue. He was actually trash talking people for not falling for his camp.

  • Don't you need killers to play as a survivor? Shouldn't survivors want killers to have a good time so they can actually get lobbies?

  • Looks like the patch notes say you can't sabo event hooks, so that's a good thing right?

  • I'm also very interested in this topic. I can't seem to figure out the best way to utilize the saw, seems like everyone just dips around a corner because my charge is too long. Granted I'm only a rank 10 Billy so I have almost no add-ons.

  • Agreed it's easy to rank up a killer but I don't want to spend $5 on LF :-)

  • Never played a minute of the clown but as a killer main this screen makes my heart hurt. How is it possible to not get a single kill? Were they actually trying or was your team just stacked?

  • I'm so glad the Nurse on PS4 doesn't have the same impact on the game as she does on PC. Sounds like she's a real tough cookie on PC but I've seen maybe 5 out of 200 games or so on PS4.

  • @Eight said:
They're plenty afraid now that you can trash their OS with a message. :)

Beat me to it! But seriously folks, put messages on private until Sony gets the fix out.

  • In 2018 a thread about why t-bagging gets people upset is just bad trolling. If you t-bag in a video game you are doing it to get a rise out of people because it's considered a visual insult. OP knows it, everyone knows it.

  • @DemonDaddy said:
Also survivors should treat the killer as if 1st hook is the only hook. Don't get comfortable because of the multi hook system. Trust me you will do much better if your cautious compared to rushed and reckless.

    This is solid advice

Have you tried turning it on and off again? I'm not joking... I get improved performance when i close the game sometimes. The PS4 going into rest mode doesn't close the application. I suspect DBD has a memory leak somewhere.

This is actually true, I'll get a match where my animations get stuck and I run around looking like I'm repairing. It will continue to the next match but if I restart the game it clears up.

  • I posted something similar yesterday, the framerate on PS4 dropped massively about 2 or 3 days ago and I have no idea why.

  • @SanKa_Games said:
Killers have enough power to defeat these SWF groups. Looping? Pick Nurse or Hag. Better Hag, since you're on PS4 and here playing Nurse must be hell. Other killers can deal with those as effective as others do.

Now, about toxicity... DbD's community is one of the worst out ther, they won't miss a chance to write a steam comment or just trashtalk in the end-game chat.
And when somebody camps even a little...

You shouldn't have to pick 1 or 2 killers to be able to play the game. That's a flaw in the system, end of story.

  • Anyone else getting just trash frame rates on PS4 over the last 2 days, much worse than normal.

Dont worry, there are no banns on PS4 anyway

If you use any hate language in a PSN Msg and it gets reported it's quite often a 3 day ban from services.

Ochido is still playing on PS4, isnt he? Might be mistaken though because I dont follow this stuff

No idea who that is but I was curious how the ban system worked so my buddy sent me a few messages with the normal hate mail and I reported only 1 and he got a 3 day ban less than 48 hours after I reported it. He was going on vacation so he didn't care, hence the test. I'm sure it's not 100% of the time but the written messages seem to get some traction.

I know I'm newer to the game but since joining the forum I feel like I only want to camp now. Survivor mains really seem upset that they can get caught by the killer and not get a free unhook. Did I miss a memo where getting a guaranteed kill by patrolling the area to keep survivors from unhooking, and maybe getting another hook isn't allowed?

I've actually gotten hate mail for shouldering a survivor who was attempting a rescue. Am I supposed to watch, if I was why is that mechanic in the game!?

There's a huge difference between patrolling and camping as killer

I get that I was more adding that no matter what you do, face camping or patrolling, you are going to get salty survivors.
