A different thread got me thinking about Monstrous Shrine again, and I realized many maps have more than one possible location for the basement. What if one of the effects of Monstrous Shrine was that it made the map spawn both basements simultaneously? And for maps with only one possible basement, maybe it just makes hooks spawn closer together in general? Would having a second basement be too12 comments 71 views last activity

I just realized, the game is having this big Year of the Tiger event but neither Huntress nor Amanda got a new cosmetic tiger mask. Seems like it would have fit right in! (Not that the Baba Yaga skin and the new Amanda skin aren't cool in their own way. But a tiger mask for one of these characters would have been pretty sweet too. 😄)0 comments 1 views last activity

I noticed in my two matches with Spirit tonight that when the match started and the camera was panning around her it was bizarrely close and low to the ground. Normally that initial pan is a few feet up and away from the killer's head so you get a nice 360 view of the killer before it zooms in to first person perspective to start the action. These pans though seemed to be locked inside her chest1 comments 41 views last activity

So I'm sure this is a dumb question, but I finished an event match with Sprit and it said something like "glaring bood 1/10". I guess I need to collect 10 of them for a costume piece? Is there anywhere to actually track what I've collected? Thanks! Edit - never mind, I figured it out, Glaring Blood is an Artist cosmetic. When the image came up I thought it was Spirit since that's who I played.0 comments 151 views last activity

Holy crap, the extra stagger on Boil Over is crazy! 😲 Ran into someone using it tonight and I literally couldn't steer at all while I was carrying them. Missed one hook on her and barely got another hook just from those wiggles. She also had a swf buddy running sabo on hooks when I downed her, but honestly I would have gotten an alternate hook if it weren't for that Boil Over wiggling around so t3 comments 181 views last activity

The Saw Tome trailer has me thinking outside the box, so to speak, wondering if it's leading up to The Observer's obsession leading him to become a killer in his own right? Imagine for instance if the Observer's obsession with documenting survivors lead to him deciding that the path to escape meant using powers from The Auris he holds to perform sacrifices to the Entity to document their final mo13 comments 211 views last activity

The new Saw trailer got me thinking it would be pretty damn cool if survivors heard Jigsaw giving short monologues while they work on puzzle boxes, or possibly when their head traps activate. For instance, a recording of Jigsaw saying “The key to your escape is in your hands” or “look within for your salvation” or the standby “I want to play a game”, etc. Mix those in with the current Billy laugh3 comments 31 views last activity

Ooh, it really sounds like Tobin Bell doing Jigsaw’s voice in that Saw tome trailer. Was that actually him or just a good impression? Either way neat trailer! 🙂5 comments 342 views last activity

Oh, here it is! 🎻 😢 The Haddonfield map and the Strode Realty Key offering have been disabled. I guess I’ll just have to manage without survivors sending me to Haddonfield for a while. 🤷♂️30 comments 1,091 views last activity

I was thinking about how Hangman's Trick is generally considered a pretty terrible perk, and realized one possible unique buff they could give it would be to build into it a Decrease Distance between Hooks by -1/2/3 meters. Basically build the various Oak offerings right into the perk. With that buff, and especially if you stack it with an additional Oak offering, it could shave off quite a bit o3 comments 31 views last activity

The dev chat today was good, they answered quite a few questions and it had some fun info. I think the one question I would have liked answered that wasn't brought up, though, was if they're still considering removing your opponents' Grades from the endgame score screens. They mentioned they're reluctant to show the hidden MMR, and that's fine, but they didn't talk about whether or not they still11 comments 561 views last activity

I don’t usually post about videos but OhTofu had an interesting video about MMR this week where he breaks down what he considers faulty arguments against the system and arguments against it that have some validity. A lot of what he says I’ve said independently at one point or another so I wanted to give the vid a shout out. I put a poll up for fun of what Batman villain would be neat to play as a killer, and the consensus was Scarecrow. And it got me thinking that it would be cool if, while a survivor is Mad or Hallucinating or Dreaming, they see images of things that are tied to that map's realm. For instance Coldwind Farms - images of evil scarecrows staring at the survivors MacMillan estates - Undead miners ha2 comments 21 views last activity

Thinking about how some of the newer types of skill checks operate where the skill check difficulty changes over time, I wonder if it would be more interesting for survivors if generator skill checks had a similar feature where the speed of the dial increased or decreased as you made or missed the check? So at the start of a match the skill checks go the normal speed, and every time you make a su4 comments 21 views last activity

On the PTC Coup De Grace is getting a distance boost on it lunges. For reference, every time a generator is completed the perk gets a token, and every time you do a lunge while you have a token it spends one to increase the distance lunged. Which brings up a question - would you prefer it if Coup De Grace was a passive permanent lunge distance buff that always worked but the boost was relatively8 comments 101 views last activity

I know it's popular around here to request buffs to Clown, and I was thinking if someday Clown does get a boost to his kit it might be fun to add a "stagger" effect to his pink gas where the survivor turns slightly randomly right or left while Intoxicated. Not necessarily a huge amount, maybe around the extent that a killer staggers while carrying a Wiggling survivor for example. Just something t0 comments 21 views last activity

I finally unlocked Artist, played her tonight and happened to get Dark Devotion and Dying Light as two of her perks so I figured I'd use those plus Scourge Hook Pain Resonance and it actually worked pretty well! 😄 When I chased the Obsession, I hit them once and broke off to get the drop on other people. I keep thinking it would be interesting to get a DLC pack based on The Haunting series, at least thematically. Hill House or Bly Manor could be fun maps, and the Lady in the Lake from Bly Manor is aesthetically a good, creepy looking killer. The main hitch is I’m not quite sure mechanically the best way to do Lady in the Lake. One idea might be that she is an Undetectable 115% killer but instea0 comments 1 views last activity

Hex: The Third Seal is a little bit of an oddball hex because permanent Blindness is ok against solo survivor players who might have average awareness, but becomes significantly weaker against stronger players with good gamesense and awareness and survivors in swfs. I think it could probably stand a buff, and the one that seems interesting is to make it essentially a Hex version of Fearmonger. F0 comments 11 views last activity

One big section on the PTB that wasn’t in the Developer update is a ton of Nurse bug fixes. I don’t play Nurse personally but I imagine Nurse mains might like this. THE NURSE Several issues affected the Nurse's power that required a large part of the code supporting her, especially the networking, to be re-done, which is what we did in this release. One of the changes coming up this PTB is Furtive Chase is getting a buff. Furtive Chase Furtive Chase has found its way into some niche builds and can be a lot of fun to experiment with. I saw an idea for Freddy that seemed interesting, make both snares and fake pallets be in his base kit and allow Freddy to swap between them similar to how Clown swaps between pink and yellow bottles. So Freddy would tap the activate ability button to swap between snares and pallets, and if he holds down the button he instead can teleport to a generator. This would be a fun little buff for him, a1 comments 11 views last activity

I was thinking it might be interesting to have a killer that part of their base kit is they are made of a black mist that is intangible to survivors, as in they have no collision with survivors so they can’t body block survivors and survivors can’t block them. Obviously I’m not thinking if this as the only ability the killer has but rather as an unusual side effect for them. On the one hand, not6 comments 41 views last activity

I noticed that for some reason Pinhead doesn't have any add-ons that help with his Teleportation ability when he teleports to a survivor solving the box. There's multiple add-ons for things like chain distance and turn rate and cooldown but nothing for Teleportation. My next daily mission is Twins tonight and it got me curious about which specific perks actually work while you're playing as Victor. The wiki just mentions that "no perks work on, against or with Victor , as he is not considered a Killer-entity" and that Charlotte's perks are "disabled". So I was out of town for a few weeks and gave DbD Mobile a shot. Overall I think it’s a pretty solid version of the game but controlling the killer on iPad is really hard compared to PC so I’m not sure I’ll stick with it. In another thread I was thinking about how there isn’t a perk related to dropping survivors, it’s one of the few game actions where there isn’t a perk that utilizes it. For example, what if we had a perk like Let the bodies hit the FloOr You drop survivors 100% faster If you drop a survivor their recovery speed is 30/40/50% slower and if they recover they are Mangled until fully healed If0 comments 31 views last activity

Out of curiosity is anybody using Boon: Exponential? Prior to its release there were a bunch of people shouting about how broken it was going to be and other people (including myself) saying it probably was ok but not great. Someone brought up an interesting point on hit validation that brought to mind an interesting question. Shower thought, but what if ranges of area effects didn’t have flat constant values but instead their range was determined by the map in play? So for example, instead of a range of “32 meters”, make the range “32% of the width of the largest floor on the map”. So if a map is an outdoor one level map with width of 100 meters that effect has 32m range, whereas if you played on Gideon which has two11 comments 81 views last activity

Being out of town for a few weeks, I finally decided to try the Mobile version of DbD out in earnest. And overall it’s not bad! 🙂 There are some things I like and things I’m not so fond of so far. 👍 You can set up custom matches to play against bots. Lol, Freddy from the slasher parody band The Merkins just played Freddy on Dead by Daylight. 😄 Good News for him - He’s pretty funny! Bad News - He never played before and skipped the tutorial. Ouch! For reference, the default number of chests in a match is 3. The killer very rare purple offering Cut Coin reduces the number by 2, so without any other modifiers in play there will be only one chest on the map. Obviously fewer chests means potentially fewer tool kits or med kits to deal with, but on the other hand it means gi12 comments 151 views last activity

DbD just announce the next DLC in March is Ringu, so presumably the killer is evil ghost girl Sadako (Samara in the US version) (sweet!) So survivors can see auras of incoming Artist birds at long range and move out of the way. (In fact it was highlighted in the official Artist survival guide on the DbD twitter.) I thought it would be fun to rank killers by how easy or hard I’ve felt they were for me to learn to learn to play. DbD twitter asked for fond memories of Demogorgon. My favorite things about him would be I love using his portals as radar. Now that we're starting to get multiple Scourge Hook perks, it might be worth considering giving Monstrous Shrine a much needed boost by adding the line "All basement hooks are Scourge Hooks" To the perk. The problem with perks and add-ons that give bloodpoint bonuses is they don’t have any impact on whether or not a survivor escapes or survives, and the way the MMR works and a fair number of players play the game it’s clear that escaping and killing are the main victory conditions and BP is something for between matches. When the game first came out, I suspect devs considered the endgame score sc2 comments 11 views last activity

Someone mentioned this sort of idea in general chat, I think, but I wanted to flesh it out a bit for a Suggestions thread.
