  • I enjoyed old Freddy but I don’t think it will ever happen. The insane slowdown and wallhacks from being in the dream world would both be extremely unpopular if they brought them back, and I think they go against how they like to design things nowadays.

  • It’s really no different than survivors who stand on the edge of the exit for the entire EGC timer for no reason. Losers who want to waste people’s time and be annoying. I don’t know if I’d call it toxic, but it’s kind of pathetic. At least with survivors I can chase them out, killers who leave you to bleed out can’t be forced to kill you so you’re stuck.

The devs should add a mechanic to end situations like this IMO because they’re just annoying for everyone. If everyone else is dead and the last survivor is on the ground for more than 30 seconds, just have them be taken by the Entity and give the killer the same points they’d have received for hooking them. Would remove these situations as well as those where there are no hooks nearby, or where the survivor crawled off and can’t be found because they’re silent.

@xenotimebong woah woah woah, I didn't buy the game on release and than stopped playing it

I know items changed, I know killer stuff like the annoying nurse change that's completely not weakaning the nurse it's just made her power annoying to use

I should clarify than, I stopped playing before Blight came out, around Deathslinger the last 2 killer releases I didn't play.

Also, I wanted at least a little explenation like "Wrait can't be seen even when moving"

Because when you say "Bubba was buffed or nerfed" that gives me 0 idea on what you mean by buffing them, there are lot of ways to nerf and buff killer.

Also I don't really care about if killer has for example stronger add ons, I care about the actual gameplay.

    I'll explain:

If I didn't know that Wraith was truely invisible, that would be a problem because I would just keep searching for him wasting time, when I should just don't worry about him and listen...

But I guess thanks anyway it is a heads up if you think about it.

@Mooks Isn't it pointless to see him when he is so close you can hear his breathing in your ear?

You said you hadn’t played in 2+ years, that’s a lot longer ago than Blight’s release. A ton of stuff has changed in the last 2+ years, way more stuff than I could outline in a comment, so I wanted to give you an idea of stuff to look up yourself since I thought you’d been away for a long time.

If you want to see details from the last few patches you can just look up the patch notes.

  • Wraith was recently buffed, so he’s faster and has true invisibility at range but is still visible up close.

Freddy was totally reworked. Billy was nerfed. Bubba and Doctor were buffed. Clown was buffed. Nurse was changed and made slightly weaker. Trapper continues to be awful.

There are a lot of new killers and survivors, and tons of new perks.

A lot of maps got reworked, and several infamous windows were removed. Breakable walls are a new thing that was added.

Moris were nerfed. Survivors and their perks, items and add ons were nerfed.

A lot of stuff has changed in the last few years so you’re probably best re-learning everything from scratch, honestly.

  • No, I think you’re right. Gen spread, density of structures and survivor spawn points are the biggest issues and they’re all influenced by RNG.

I actually don’t think raw map size is the problem, since for example Shelter Woods is much larger than any of the Badham variants but I would pick Shelter Woods over Badham every single time as killer. It’s how spread the gens are and how easy they are to patrol.

  • Can’t wait to play sexy papa Bill. 😎

"you realise that hag's traps are one of the strongest chase abilities in the game, right, and can net her a down in a matter of seconds?"

    yes

    i do

that's why i think that the ability to remove them when she's not chasing you is a good idea 🙄🙄

It’s a good idea if you only consider the survivor side when determining what is “good”. It’s a bad idea if you take into account that high rank Hag players might actually want the chance to win matches once in a while, and having their power removed via a 2 second animation with no notification will make their chosen killer utterly unplayable against survivors with more than a few hours.

I mean, by this same logic killers should be able to remove survivor items or remove gen progress by channelling a small animation, because items and gen progression are strong survivor tools.

  • For killer: Surge, Thrilling Tremors, Trail of Torment, and my favourite ever and most crutch perk, Save The Best For Last.

Survivor: Alert, Kindred, Fixated, Second Wind.

"the survivors should psychically know at all times where the hag is and what she's doing, or else she has no power"

ok. have you thought that a hag that just randomly runs around setting traps and then moving on is bad? because she's a territorial killer that defends a 3gen. if the hag allows me to cleanse all her stuff without defending her zone then she isn't defending her zone and she deserves to lose. she doesn't deserve a bunch of free alerts and opportunities to hit people. there's no situation where following behind her is a good idea.

as for being locked into an animation, why is she breaking pallets when she can tp past them? why is she kicking gens if she isn't popping them? why would she ever vault a window? the biggest opportunity you get is when she's carrying a survivor and, guess what, she's gonna put new traps down around the fresh hook.

i need you to seriously ask yourself what you think hag's strengths are before coming onto the forums and telling me that beating her would be as easy as just creeping along behind her disarming her traps as if she won't just turn around at any moment. because she will.

“There’s no situation where following behind her is a good idea” in your ideal future where her traps can be disarmed in 2 seconds with no notification to the killer? Are you serious? Removing her power entirely and making her a 110% killer with nothing else wouldn’t be a good idea for any survivor with a single brain cell?

I’m gonna assume you’ve never played as Hag in your life if you don’t see the value in removing her traps. Even your “just turn around 4head” response tells me you don’t play killer because while the Hag is being harassed by someone disarming all of her vital power and chasing them away, guess what the other 3 survivors are all doing.

“If I disarm her traps while she’s carrying a survivor she’ll just set more near the hook” - so what? You realise that Hag’s traps are one of the strongest chase abilities in the game, right, and can net her a down in a matter of seconds? If you disarm her web you are weakening her significantly. Multiple traps around a hook are an absolute waste of time and tell me you’ve never faced a Hag above rank 10.

  • On if I’m doing challenges, dailies, achievements, etc. Off if I want to sweat against Spirits and Object players. So more on than off, tbh.

  • I’m gonna be honest, I forgot Babysitter existed.

  • I would keep the effect the same, but instead of having it proc when injured, proc it on unhook. So after you get unhooked you don’t leave blood or scratch marks for 30 seconds (or however long is balanced). Would be a useful anti-tunnelling perk and anti-Spirit perk, but wouldn’t screw over M1 killers so strongly.

  • I think it looks ugly but otherwise don’t really care.

  • @deckyr said:

this is all i would change about her. make it a short animation of the survivor smearing their hands over it, maybe 2 seconds disarm time.

i'd also like it if the hag was not notified that her traps got destroyed. it's not noisy and she's so omnipresent that stealth should be the counterplay, but you can't interact with her without revealing yourself.

This would make her garbage tier. One survivor chases the very slow Hag around disarming her traps with no notification, and it’s ggez for the survivors. She’d be a 110% killer with no power, even worse than Trapper.

You can already disable her traps by setting them off, by the way. Set it off at the edge of its range and she won’t be able to hit you out of a teleport. Or run through them when she’s locked in an animation and therefore can’t teleport, or when she’s far away and out of range.

I mean I do agree high wall loops are harder to deal with him. Mothers dwelling isn't also fun playing him on. The jungle gym's with the long wall on the side also isn't the greatest way to go, and I still think DS/huntress handle those loops much better on him. Don't get me wrong though I still think he's the worst ranged killer. It's not really about the aim, but also knowing methods and mindgames that allow you for you to get the knives into the person easier. I can try to get a round later on, on a certain map where you are having problems, and I can post it for you if you would like. Just let me know which map, and what you would like for me to do, so I can show you how to play a certain tile correctly with him.

Not the person you replied to, but I’m working on my Trickster and I’d be interested to see how you play Suffocation Pit where the tiles all have high walls and are so easily chained together. I think this is my least favourite map for him at the moment.

  • @indieeden7 said:

Tbh I just wish there was a way to disarm traps by default, I don't think being able to just rub the ground where her trap is would make her weak.

She would be completely neutered by SWF if they did this. One person would follow her around the map disarming her traps and as a 110% killer she would have absolutely nothing else. At least Trapper can play machete man if survivors call out his traps, Hag would be even more painful to play than that.

  • Splitting up and pressuring multiple gens is basically the only way to escape against certain chase-focused killers like Deathslinger, Spirit, etc. Those killers being able to teleport around the map at will would make them borderline unbeatable. Imagine a Spirit hooking someone, using her power to down someone else, then using this perk to instantly teleport to a gen across the map and initiate another chase? It would be disgusting.

  • Besides the graphical changes did they tweak any of the farm maps, by the way? Like changing any of the loops or map sizes or main buildings? (Hoping for a nerf to Fractured Cowshed here.)

  • @jester20k said:

When I run the killer for forever and they finally get me, and start nodding like they won an Olympic medal. Bro, you're supposed to catch me get over yourself.

My favourite version of this is Freddys that headbang after they spent 3 minutes chasing you and then finally managed to snare spam/bloodlust you down. Good job lil buddy.

  • I don’t think any killer needs a base kit nerf at all.

The only things that should be nerfed are certain add ons, IMO. Scalped Topknot, for example. I also feel like if they remove the power recharge buff from Spirit’s duration add ons it would make her a lot more balanced. Getting to basically run 3 add ons every game (because all Spirits run duration add ons, let’s be honest) is stupid on a killer that’s strong already.

  • Absolutely.

Between the price wall of all the DLC, the insane grind to unlock things (and as a new player you want to unlock stuff, you want to try different perks and characters to see what you like), and the abysmal ranking system, I don’t know how this game keeps any new players at all. The new player experience is downright hostile.

Send yourself to maps like Hawkins or Dead Dawg and play Machete man simulator. Don't bother with instadown powers as they hurt the emblems. Plague and Trapper also are quite bad, so don't use their powers. Don't try to get head pops with Pig.

Slug a lot for extra hits but don't go for 4 man slugs. Let people do saves and try to stay away from the hook kicking gens.

The most difficult was probably Plague. I never used her green puke and had to bring Apple addons to get a bit of snowball. The easiest was probably Nurse because it's Nurse.

    Good tips, thanks!

  • Because there are more people playing at night time, and a lot of them are survivors or people who are playing survivor with friends.

Purely anecdotal, but I usually only play SWF in the evenings since that’s when my friends are around and want to play together. If I play earlier in the day I usually go killer because it’s a more fun solo mode than solo survivor.

It seems to be that running plunders actually has the reverse effect now. Try it without plunders and you'll probably notice it more

Bruh. Really? More fool me then.

  • I ran Plunderer’s for 5 games in a row last night, opened every chest and didn’t find a single key. The best I got was one purple medkit but otherwise it was yellow and brown items with the occasional green. Doesn’t feel like chests are any different to me.

  • Franklin’s Demise. A weak perk that exists only to annoy or troll, or to counter keys. Overrides white wards which is dumb. Yet another killer perk that is much weaker against SWFs (to the point of uselessness) yet extremely annoying for solos. In solo queue it basically guarantees the loss of your item since if the killer commits you can’t go back, you can’t get a friend to pick it up before the entity takes it, and if a random grabs your dropped item they’ll just keep it.

  • They all play with yellow/brown rank friends so if you rank up above that you don’t see them.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Hex: The Third Seal (I dont think that everyone knows your abbreviation instantly) can be strong, yes. But only against Solos. Which is the biggest weakpoint of this Perk.

And even against Solos, they see the Bubble were someone is hooked. So at least they should know where a hooked Survivor is (if they are paying attention, but thats on them).

Depends on the map. It’s strong on something like Lery’s or Midwich where survivors have to waste time looking for each other or explaining where they are without many obvious landmarks, but if you go to something like Autohaven it’s easily countered, yeah.

  • I had a similar match a couple of days ago. Insidious basement Bubba. Luckily the guy who went down first ran the killer for long enough for one gen to be done, and he also had Kindred, so the rest of us all saw the killer camp his ass on the basement stairs and disappear into Insidious. So you know what we did? We split up and hammered out the other four gens and then opened the gates.

That poor brave heroic Bill died but the rest of us got out and gave the Bubba well-deserved teabags on the way. Was it fun? Not really. Did anyone pip or get any bloodpoints? No. But it’s the only way to discourage face campers so I’m always gonna do it.

  • And get stuck playing on Haddonfield or Fractured Cowshed every single time I play killer? Nooooo thank you.

    • What most survivors complain about is when the killer intentionally keeps them on the ground when hooks are abundant just to annoy the survivor.

This never happened. It's just survivors playing victim and trying to be the center of the world. For some reason survivors seem to have such low self esteem they think the killer cares about them on a personal level.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2131677#Comment_2131677

In your head 4 minutes is too much time sacrificed for a win? How... sad.

This is how I know you’ve never played survivor lmao, killers bleeding out survivors for no reason other than to be toxic is not that rare. Here, video evidence if you want it:

    https://youtu.be/74-anfqxOIA

Clip starts at 3:38. No in-game reason to bleed her out since she was downed a few metres away from a hook, he just wanted to be an ass.

    ThIs NeVeR hApPeNeD

  • They’re probably still discussing it internally and don’t have a definite answer yet. I’d rather they deliberate and analyse the PTB stats than make a knee jerk decision, personally.

  • The filter is garbage. I referred to the (completely harmless) name of one of my teammates but it was blocked for some stupid reason, and unfortunately their name was 6 letters so it actually looked like I was calling them a slur lmao. So the filter completely backfired by making my totally innocuous statement look like I was calling them an offensive insult. Nice.

  • You can still be revealed by auras, killer instinct, crows, sounds (like footsteps, puking, etc.) and the survivor’s physical body. Spirit can’t be seen or located by anything except very faint footsteps that are only audible on certain points of certain maps, and maybe Spine Chill (though the tracking info it gives is limited).

This version of Lucky Break is a bit too strong imo but I don’t think it’s comparable to Spirit.

  • The kind of person that gets surprised when the player they taunted rises to the bait, is not the kind of person that will listen to your advice.

  • I really don’t like the pronounced snout they’ve given his updated mask, but other than that he looks pretty good.

  • I love his aesthetic but he seems pretty weak. A lot of it is probably the rank I’m at, but I’ve yet to be killed by one. His power just seems... underwhelming?

He's still not popular in Red Ranks as it's still invested with Freddys, Spirits, Nurses, Blights, and Huntresses. (oddly enough I've seen a lot of Pigs and Myers lately, but it's a oddity) But every single Wraith I've went against downs people extremely fast even without the silent bell. It feels weird to think of him in that light, but I feel they may have overdone him with how simple his kit is to master.

I actually am a Wraith fan in terms of playing him, his lore, and his look. But it's not enjoyable having him feel overbearing when he isn't even having to do anything impressive to be so. People are mocking me now, and I could be wrong. But I still think Wraith will see a huge raise after Freddy falls down a peg and people will realize the very fast stealth killer is a bit overwhelming for the input he's putting in.

I took a 3 month break from the game so I’ve dropped down to yellow ranks and I’ve yet to see him. It’s basically just Trickster every other match down here. :D

  • Big if true. I haven’t had chance to play as or against him since the changes so I’m excited at the prospect of OP Wraith, honestly.

It feels like a large portion of the community is children though

People let their 3, 4 and 5 year old children play this game for some reason so yeah.

  • “I want the devs to change the struggle mechanic, but they should ONLY change it because it annoys me, and not because it makes the game less enjoyable for people with disabilities.”

    Who’s entitled again?

  • Trapper. The only killer in the game that has to waste time lugging his sack around the map to pick up his power, and the only one to get nerfed by map reworks. Say what you want about every other killer but at least they don’t have to give the survivors a 3 gen head start.

Sucks because I enjoy playing him but he’s just not fun in the game’s current state.

  • This wouldn’t change anything. I basically only ever play pallet Freddy (when I play him) and I’ve never run out of those add ons so people could still easily play snares every match. Freddy is the opposite of add on dependent as well so it’s not like it would require him to sacrifice anything to use his snares.

  • I haven’t played for 3 weeks, I’ve been popping in to the forums to see if anything changed about the HUD and survivor animations between PTB and the patch going live and of course it didn’t so I have no interest in coming back.

  • Its not that people are afraid of change, there’s been lots of praise for Nurse’s new model, perk changes, map updates, Wraith buffs, Clown’s change, and so on. People just don’t like the changes that they consider, y’know... bad.

Why shouldn’t people voice their opinions if they think something is a change for the worse? Are we only allowed to say positive things at all times now? Some changes make the game feel worse for people, and if that’s the case they can and should express that opinion in a respectful manner.

  • @GraveHunter said:

But is he really gone from this game?

No he still seems to be involved, he posts about the game a lot on Twitter. I think he’s just taken a step back as the face of the game which is understandable.

  • No it’s not just you, I find them really weird and unpleasant and an actual downgrade from how they were before. I’m guessing they’re here to stay though.

  • I don’t think it’s unfair really. I’ve never had a huge problem with the perk but I think the changes are pretty reasonable, depending on how they work (e.g. the example someone else gave of someone else healing you deactivating the perk - if it doesn’t work this way then cool).

I never personally wanted it changed but I don’t think the changes are a huge issue. The perk is less abusable while remaining useful. I just wish the devs would make it so that there’s an Obsession every match now that DS is even easier to play around.

  • They’re not gonna nerf NOED so this discussion is pointless.
