  • Sometimes you’re just not as sneaky as you think you are. I often see survivors try to hide near me, so I’ll pretend I didn’t see them and act like I’m just walking past the rock they’re crouching behind, then turn around and smack them. I’m sure it seems weird from their perspective but there’s nothing fishy going on.

Rustling grass also gives away a lot of survivors for me.

  • Most people completely overestimate how good they are. Their ego won’t allow them to accept that they’re the reason they lost, so they externalise blame.

There’s a particular poster here who complains about how OP the other side is all the time but if you watch their gameplay, you see them making tons of mistakes that contribute massively to their losses. Unfortunately the blame mindset means they’ll probably never really improve because improvement requires first accepting that you’re not that good.

  • I believe that survivor emotes (pointing or waving) will prevent someone from healing you, so you could just repeatedly point until you’re sure you want to run.

  • Sad that they’ve never said a word about this. Poor Billy.

Ttv’s are really chill most the time from my experience

Yeah I was gonna say the same. Most of the TTVs I’ve played with or against lately have been good at the game and pretty nice as well.

Yes, that mission is a pain, I've been playing Pyramid Head lately and i don't understand why survivors try to avoid the trails at all cost, They sometimes give me a free hit and even a down by just avoiding to step in the trail, what's the point? are they simply idiots?

They’re probably used to the Pyramid Heads that will spend a while ensuring you become tormented before you go down so they can hook you, hit you off unhook and then immediately send you to a cage, then tunnel you out of the cage. They’d rather avoid getting tormented and take a down than get tormented and be deleted from the game.

  • License approval issues, if I had to guess. But yeah it definitely needs reworking, it’s miserable to play.

  • Yeah, that was the one! It’s rare to see such in-depth, constructive feedback so I’m glad the devs saw it. :)

EDIT: No, wait, it was a different post by the same user, this one: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/245706/deadzones-and-response-curves-an-analysis#latest

But I see Mandy saw this one so hopefully the devs will see this one too.

  • Really nice to see buffs (or more QoL I guess?) for console.

Someone did a super in-depth thread about dead zones and acceleration and so on, hopefully the devs saw that and can implement some improvements for controllers in the future. The console player base is huge so they deserve it.

  • It’s just this playerbase’s obsession with calling everything “no skill”. Every single killer requires no skill, survivor requires no skill, every perk is a no skill perk, doing your objective as either side requires no skill, and on and on and on. I’d just ignore it.

  • Twins. Just delete the Twins at this point. Does anyone have anything good to say about this killer?

Runner up goes to Plague, who guarantees a short gen rush match where nobody earns any points and everyone leaves the match feeling grossed out and unsatisfied.

Nothing makes me laugh harder than people in this game destroying average bad pub players and deciding that's a balance issue.

Dude, nobody cares about “comp” DBD players. This is a casual game, actual 5 year olds play it and win. The devs are never gonna balance for the comp scene, thank god.

  • All my favourite charms were in the first rift, and I unlocked those on PS4 so I can’t access them now since I now play on PC. So I don’t usually bother, no. Sometimes I’ll slap on the snowflake charm since I think it’s cute and simple and it makes me laugh.

  • Sometimes I read stuff on this forum and really wonder why I’m here. People calling the OP “morally questionable” and suggesting that they’re an irredeemable bully because they switched off flashlights in a lobby, LOL.

Maybe people should just learn how to play against flashlights (it’s actually pretty easy, especially since most flashlight warriors are boosted) and then they wouldn’t get so terrified about seeing them.

  • If you’re on PC, you can use stretched res on killer and it basically does the same thing. There’s no guarantee the devs won’t remove it from the game down the line but it isn’t bannable as far as I know.

Ok thanks to Marcz' post I figured out how to manually fix it for now.

Put this into your input.ini (NOT engine.ini):

    [/Script/Engine.InputSettings]

    bDisableMouseAcceleration=True

Should probably make it read-only too after otherwise it might reset if you go into the options menu ingame.

Hoping for a proper patch soon so that the more casual players can enjoy proper mouse input again too. :)

Hey, I just wanted to thank you for your posts because I did this and it helped a ton! I was complaining to my other half a few days ago that killer movement felt way too “floaty”, and I kept getting annoyed at myself for whiffing a bit more than usual, but since making these tweaks it feels tons better and more precise.

  • After the third one in a row I would have stealthed the beginning of the match until confirming the killer, if I’m being honest. I guess that’s your only counter: don’t get found first. :(

  • They value their own skin over anything else. So if there are two survivors left and one gen, they’ll hide and wait for their teammate to die rather than risk being found on a gen. It’s a boring way to play but very common in solo players.

  • A good trick is to force him to predict you by holding W and breaking line of sight - most Onis will dash to catch up to you but try and predict the route they think you’ll take, so they can cut you off and bonk you. Once you’ve broken LoS keep an eye on him and then either wait at a corner or turn back if you see him trying to predict your pathing.

He has been banned multiple times from my understanding. He just keeps buying new accounts

Is it the guy named after a famous singer? I played with that guy (or a fan, I suppose) the other day and he kept insta healing me then accused me of hacking in post-game chat. Charming person.

It's easy to get worked up about losses as Killer, especially if you're like me and think Survivors are silently judging your every move (which, honestly, they probably are, but who cares?). I have two rules:

    • Hooks, not Kills: You'll feel a lot better about yourself if you scale your performance based on hooks. Getting at least one hook on each Survivor should suffice. The "Entity Displeased" text at the end of a game is disheartening, but only if you let it. (Not saying you shouldn't get kills. If you have the opportunity to win during an intense game, seize it!)
    • Compare Survivor Losses to Yours: If you play Survivor, you should know that you die a lot more often than you escape. You'll often shrug it off saying, hey, at least I did my part. As Killer, you should try to preserve that mindset. You got stomped, or you made one too many mistakes which you'll be sure to avoid next match. At the very least, you put up a fight, and the Survivors needed to be strategic in order to get through you.

I hope this helps :) I myself have recently been getting back into Killer and these have been helping me shake off the stress

And even if they’re judging you (which is an inevitable part of life - people will always judge, no matter what you do), chances are they’ll have forgotten who you are within an hour. I play against a different set of survivors and killers every time I play, there’s no way I could remember every single person I’ve judged the playstyle of even if I wanted to.

"Necro posting" if DBD's forums were worth a damn in terms of organization it would probably be easier to avoid and "I wouldn't aim to do it again" like you're some kind of authority. Love the veiled threats. Also this game is dead anyway 0 developer interest I.E. matchmaking, new items, nah mostly just pumping out skins. Thanks for the unnecessary response.

Necroing threads is against the forum rules and if you keep doing it you’ll get banned. The other poster was trying to help you, not threaten you.

  • I’m not sure putting killer perk stats or killer played stats is that useful to anyone if you only played killer games, tbh. They don’t actually represent anything except what you personally like to play.

  • I had a killer tell me that Shelter Woods is survivor-sided yesterday, lol. People like to blame other things instead of just accepting that they lost.

  • Assuming that they actually want to nerf her, I don’t think it would be a straightforward change.

Nerfing her add ons won’t reduce complaints about her power. Nerfing her power too much will make her bad. She needs more than a simple change like tweaking numbers because the issues people have her with come down to how her power actually functions, which is a complicated complaint to address without a full rework.

  • I don’t believe it exists. I think they said they were adding it to try and appease people but literally nothing changed from before hit validation to now. Until I see any evidence for it I’ll have as much faith in hit validation as I do in the Easter bunny.

Well..You actually learn to loop them(very doable). There's a lot more m1 killers then range and mobile killers. It's poor design if the maps are huge just to dull killers a bit. You think it's boring holding W and being chased as a survivor ? Try holding W to try and find survivors. Then holding W some more to chase. Get a strong pallet slammed in your face and hold W some more.

Sure it's a good strategy. But damn is it boring. They just need to make maps smaller. And add more loops that arnt the safest. Not the strongest IMO

I play Trapper and Pig most these days so you don’t need to tell me how frustrating W holders are, lol.

You can’t loop a good anti-loop killer. Even if I play Doctor with a yellow Discipline add on the survivors have to try and make distance at some point or they go down fast. And I’m not a great Doc.

I mean...Read my second post where I said I don't blame survivors for holding W. I blame poor map design

So what happens to killers like Nurse, Freddy and Clown when making distance is no longer viable?

  • @BrokenSouI said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/248494/running-is-not-toxic

People get annoyed that "Hold W" gaming is a big issue against some killers. Tofu and others did experiments against someone like freddy. You can waste no less then 40 seconds. By just holding W and skipping every loop..And that is a bit of a problem IMO. To the point I find myself using blight and wraith more then Freddy lately

I mean what else are survivors supposed to do against a Freddy? Try to loop the killer with built in anti-loop powers?

Don’t blame survivors for holding W, blame Behaviour adding more and more killer chase powers that make it the only viable strategy. I’d rather use a more interactive playstyle that requires some brain power but if the killer is someone like Freddy or Clown I have to hold W every chase or I’m throwing the game.

  • It’s kind of given away in the name of the perk... you’re the object of their obsession.

If people are saying toxic stuff in chat then that’s another thing entirely, but why would you run a perk that literally shows the killer your location constantly if you don’t want to be chased a lot?

  • This has been a thing for months and months. :/

  • Try playing an M1 killer on a map like Rotten Fields with no slowdown perks and see how much fun you have. I tried it the other day, and let me tell you it was frustrating because my chase mechanics were totally irrelevant to the outcome of the match.

I don’t enjoy it either and I think slowdown perks need to be nerfed in the long run but only once the devs actually make more maps BALANCED, by which I mean not hugely survivor-favoured or hugely killer-favoured. More Coal Towers and fewer Fractured Cowsheds or Hawkins. As it stands now, there’s a reason so many killers run these perks.

If moris were "fine" then why is no killer using them?

Because they are ######### garbage right now.

That change was lazy and no one wants to use moris now. Making something useless is not how you balance something.

"An offering shouldn’t affect gameplay too much" and yet a key which is an item that can be found for free in a chest can give survivors an easy escape. That's fair

People don’t use them because they’d rather run bloodpoint offerings. I see moris about as often now as I did before they were changed, once in a while but not super often.

How would you even know nobody uses them anyway? Do you play a lot of survivor?

  • Basement is able to be totally body blocked by the killer.

  • Because the people who believe that rank doesn’t mean anything are not the same as the people who complain about facing red rank teams.

  • I’ve had this happen a couple of times since the update (most pallet drops have been fine though), and it’s usually when the killer is a bit laggy so it’s probably a latency thing.

  • I’m working towards P3ing the licensed killers that don’t have any/many cosmetics first, just cause it at least gives me some customisation options.

Just because you're teammates are bad doesn't give you the right to abandon them. Every other only multiplayer game that is team based will actually ban you for days, weeks or even permanently if you continuously do that. And i'm talking about games that are JUST as harsh, where one bad teammate will lose you the entire game:

    CS:GO

    DotA 2

    LoL

    Rainbow 6

Do those games actually have functional ranking systems? Because if so it’s not comparable.

  • @MochixNancy said:

Okay so I was kinda proud of this post and now I think it's cringe, also, it's a very good idea the aura of dropped pallets!

Sometimes we get ideas that seem good, and then other people point out potential issues and you go “oh yeah...” Nothing cringe about having an idea and changing your mind on it later :)

  • BT as base kit would be way too strong, and I say this as someone who plays both sides so I’m not anti-survivor by any means. It’s a very good perk and just got a really nice buff so it works against every killer; there’s pretty much no reason not to run it now.

  • Is this written in some kind of code? It’s very difficult to follow.

I was accused of "hiding in lockers all game for no reason".

I had Inner Strength and Red Herring. Even after pointing this out, they kept bitching. No surprise, they were the ones who died, while I escaped with only one hook.

Bruh I had someone in a recent match tell me I “crouched around all game” because I crouch walked ONE SINGLE TIME in the entire match, in order to avoid getting tormented by Pyramid Head’s trail while going for an unhook. A lot of people completely disregard context and just parrot “locker/crouch = bad!”

  • I don’t think much can be taken from this match tbh. It’s just a classic example of a boring solo queue match. No exciting chases, went on for longer than it should have because of survivors being allergic to gens, basically nothing remotely interesting happened (unless you count the Claudette screwing herself with Self Care, which is always kind of funny, granted).

  • Was this on Coal Tower? It probably spawned that way because a lot of the random tiles were L/T walls which have no pallet. In that case the spawning algorithm will force two pallets near each other in order to reach the required minimum number of pallets.

  • @Vyne456 said:

Well what happens if you get hooked irl, and then you feel extreme pain?

Well what happens if you get chainsawed in the back or slashed by a vengeful ghost’s katana IRL? This game is not realistic.

  • Half the time people give up because their teammates are bots and make baffling, game-ending decisions. Fix matchmaking/ranking/MMR/whatever so that people actually go in the ranks they belong in, and this phenomenon would reduce.

  • @Floofzy_Kitten said:

The same is true for me. I am colourblind and that map is unplayable even with colourblind settings on. For Killer I constantly have survivors break out because I can't see hook auras, I have no idea where gens are, once the gens are done I can't see the exit gate auras. BBQ and Chilli is useless on that map along with any other aura reading. And all while this is happening survivors are t-bagging, taunting me in endgame chat. It feels like I am being bullied because I'm colourblind and can't even play on that goddamn map properly and everyone is burning map offerings for it.

I’m sorry you’re struggling with it. :( Hopefully the map offerings will die down once people have played the maps a bit more, and hopefully the devs give the auras or the map visuals a tweak so it’s a bit easier to see.

  • Sometimes you just don’t play that well, and the opposition plays better than you, and they deserve to win.

I know people like to go on about this game like there’s no skill involved in anything and every match is pure random chance or a pre-determined outcome every time, but it isn’t. There’s a reason that really good killers win a lot, and that really good survivors escape a lot. They’re better than 90% of the player base so they perform better consistently.

  • @onemind said:

You get cope 5 times max

And you need 2 perks for spirit fury to give you a hit

I don't agree with how the op is saying this thoughts but they have reason

So? OP said that killers don’t get “free hit perks” but they do. That was my point, not whether those perks are overpowered or underpowered, just that they exist.

  • Those are good ones. Personally I can’t stand seeing the word “entitled” anymore, it’s been abused so heavily that it’s now lost all meaning. Anything you do or don’t do will get you accused of entitlement by the DBD player base.

Bonus combination: “You’re not entitled to a free X!”

1 … 13 14 15 16 17 … 50
