  • Can we get a "balanced" event ever? I'm whole heartedly a survivor main who plays killer for quest completion but fr this is miserable as a casual killer and the survivor side is just bonkers. Got locked behind an invincible pallet in the game map for 45 seconds… twiddle my thumbs while 2 gens popped was great…

  • @Carth said:

Yeah people are going to flock back to the game mode of brand new parts insta completing gens and ebony moris allowing you to insta kill everyone on first down.

I would lol. It would be fun to see a DBD classic mode. Like every broken perk combo, interaction etc. Like idk maybe remind us why the changes were made or even maybe peel back some of the changes who knows.

  • They definitely had a very eerie look to it and in many ways subjectively better. The 'recolor' is just very intense and hard to see anything because it's so bright. Especially red aura's on a yellow background.

  • Buns as always, Void interaction skewed af. Survivors have no reason to go in, it takes longer, hindered screams, broken status (if injured) and 2 interactions to get a one time use item that takes a slot and is buggy af. Y'all don't go in. It isn't worth it.

  • The majority of my games are not swf as killer or survivor. One out of 10 legitimately are true swfs sweating and going for beamers or gen rush. The rest fall apart after the first hook, communication and coordination go out the window. 2 go for unhook while one is on gens and if you aren't hook camping/tunneling that gen survivor is easily found and downed. Honestly if it's a swf it's exciting and requires more active gameplay otherwise im just patrolling gens one hook, two hook, etc etc. Tunneling and hook camping are like turning on cruise control, not a lot of effort required.

  • Honestly the game has always been "killer sided" every patch for the last 4 years or so has been survivors get hit with a nerf bat flashlights, self care, distortion. Then they get a shiny new thing I.E. smoke bombs. Nerfed… the first new item in how long? Nerfed into the ground. They care less about hiding it at this point and they build every change around the idea that every game is going to be a swf with coms and a meta team build. You can't build a game around 10% of your player base and have it be fun or even playable for the rest.

There are no challenges up that require blinding the killer, what are you on about? Or do you mena literally getting bonus bloodpoints for blinding the killer?

In the tomes there are several, "blind the killer X times" "blind a killer carrying a survivor" etc.

  • This whole topic brings up a very valid point WHAT'S THE POINT OF THE PTB?! If they see these things and don't fix them right away behaviour is fine with the bs as long as people pay the money.

You show your colours straight away by bringing up Ghoul even tho he’s been nerfed 4 times.

(He been fine since his 2nd nerf)

Guess what? An Killer is meant to be afraid of and oppressive, It’s an horror game.

Plus it’s 1 vs 4 the Killer is meant to have an slight edge.

It’s not all about Survivor fun teabag and moonwalk out.

Stop relying on second chance perks and try to learn to loop/sneak as well obviously do gens.

We are allowed strong killers not just Nurse & Blight.

Jeez the cope is unreal, People need to play both sides, Please stop being one sided and entitled.

Imagine getting hit with a m1 by huntress and IMMEDIATELY hatcheted in the back. Put this in perspective for any killer with a secondary damaging ability. Legion, Dracula, etc etc etc.

  • Honestly as a survivor playing against the knight, unless your squad brings all gen rush perks there is no "counter play" to the knight. He keeps one person constantly running from his summon while he slugs others, one gen regression perk and one undetectable perk and ggs.

Can someone tell me why survivors need 20 second chance perks?

Is looping the killer really that hard? With gen rushing being at a game breaking high do they really need more second chances? Sprint burst, finish gen, OTR, finish gen, Dead hard, Finish gen, predrop a god pallet, finish gen, lose the killer, unbreakable, finish gen, endgame with hope. Why do survivors need so many different perks that do the same thing? Get some damn variety. Anyone remember when survivors actually had to do work to loop killers? Like you know "survive" against them as survivors? Like holy hell, killers had one second chance perk. Then because gen rushing was an issue they gave tons of gen defense perks. Like why do killers camp/tunnel? Because that's all we can do anymore and yall made it that way.

Because that's all we got, do gens or run. Yall complained about hiding, so we run or we do gens.

yo guys, the "high MMR" you are talking about can be reached as a completely new player after ~100h of playing the game as either side, hope you are aware of that next time you lose against "high MMR" survivors or "high MMR" killer that turn out to have <500h into the game

When i say high mmr, i generally refer to high skill. MMR has 0 meaning and hasn't since they tried to "optimize wait times"

  • Ugh, if they would be more transparent we'd all benefit. SMH…

The game isnt actually swf sided anymore. In high mmr 4 man swf escape rate was slightly under 50% the last time statistics were given.

Oof so the game is just overall tipping killer sided even at the high mmr… So do you think the Dev's are purposefully tilting the scales that direction?

how does lethal and bbq promote tunneling?

Start of the match they bee line toward a survivor, get the down, hook and reveal. Most likely they'll go for the nearest survivor. Once you see the auras you know who is who unless they are all playing the same survivor with the same skin the outlines are pretty discernable. Also thanks to aura reveal they know who is running injured, 9/10 it's a freshly unhooked survivor. Everytime you get an aura reveal are you going to run to the gen that's about to pop or the injured hook stage 2 survivor?

  • @Crowman said:

You do know you can hop in a locker when the killer picks up a survivor and wait till after the hook bubble disappears to avoid bbq

Assuming there's a locker nearby. Also assuming they aren't near a hook when they go down, or it's not a pyramid head.

They'll literally hide anywhere for an hour if they have to. Should Survivors accumulate crows when they're not repairing the generator under a certain threshold so they won't be able to tap the gen and preemptively disable the crows?

You mean the last 2 survivors after watching 2 players get immediately tunneled out of the game at 5 gens? Because back in the day we had a solution with the hatch spawning early (although locked) to end the game quickly. But killers mains cried about people bringing keys and just escaping at 3 or 4 completed gens. What's the incentive for the last 2 to jump out and say "KILL US TOO"?

Take an entire year to do nothing but QOL optimisation and bug fixes and show how ungrateful the DBD Community is

Or, hear me out, we don't have one sided events. Maybe send the event to ptb for testing and feedback. Hmmm

  • All in all this mode has lost some of its flavor, I played a drac game with no scratch marks in bat form yeeeessh wolf with scent is nice but it became a chase the floating ball instead of chasing the survivor. It's just a cobbled together mode without much forethought.

    A killer sided mode?

    You mean the one where:

    • Gens are 20% faster, despite the fact the killer has no access to gen defense?
    • Basically basekit OTR, so now you get your anti-tunnel perks for free.

The game is balanced around killers bringing gen defense perks, and last time this mode was out it was a complete joke when you went against even halfway decent SWFs, you just need discord and you are good to go on this mode.

You mean where tier 3 meyers has no terror radius? The mode where you can't see healing progress, mend progress, recovery bar progress, gen progress etc etc etc. We get no info, can't go for any type of last minute hail mary saves, just do gens, get downed/unhooked/healed and do more gens? At least they're faster to keep the games rolling instead of the last two survivors crouch walking the map for 20 minutes.

  • Just another killer sided mode. Get the challenges done and never play it again.

first of all tunneling isn't toxic, you can call it extremely unfun, but toxicity lies elsewhere (letting people bleeding on the ground despite hooks are available, hitting on the hook, keep walking on a dying survivor, etc etc)… it's a strategy and quite effective and secondly are you currently blaming the killer for doing their objective as well? please, at least be honest without having double standards… i'm not a guy that tunnel (i don't like it since i know how it feels when you are constantly chased without a break), but if i see people that actually play to win (aka play optimally: taking hits with basekit bt in order to protect their savior, sabotage my hooks when i'm trying to hook someone, don't fear of the killer and keep doing generators under your nose despite being really close to them) or are mean (tbags) i will adapt my gameplay as well because you are giving me no choices but to play in that way if i want to do at least some points

Tunneling in 2v8 is ridiculous, in 1v4 there is a penalty that the rest of the survivors could leave them on hook and just do gens. However 2v8 doesn't have this built in penalty. And I've seen them run clear across the map to move the hooked survivor back and forth. "Strategy" or abusing the system designed to prevent hook/cage camping. I feel it's the latter. You are welcome to your opinion but it's a scummy tactic like taking a knee in football to run out the clock or hitting someone with the ball so it goes out of bounds against the opposing team. It's just unsportsman like.

  • The issue is good XYZ Killer players will dominate the solo queue survivor pool. The constant early aura reveals, and pincer dual killer teams just straight wreck most surivors and after a few death hooks even the best 4 man squad can't take 2 killers period which tends to happen after the first 2-4 gens get completed. Comes down to a bad killer team is better than an equally bad survivor team. And a God tier Huntress/Nurse etc. paired with a trapper/wraith/billy is just gg.

  • I've only seen the skiddish survivors that run at the first sign of a heartbeat. So I can't concur on that one.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/422496/2x8-whats-up-with-all-of-this-cage-returning-tunneling-that-happing-in-every-match-now

maybe you just had bad luck… happen more than you can think you know? besides, if the killers are willingly doing so probably it's because survivors are particularly toxic (rarely i get people respectful in my lobbies. most of the survivors tbag knowing that you can't catch them if the other killer isn't around due to the HUGE quantity of pallets present in the map… some even trashtalk in the endchat just for the sake of being toxic) or simply put rush gens, even under your nose (in that case it's fair to apply the concept "you tunnel generators so i tunnel survivors")

What else are survivors supposed to do? They only have one objective to get out and that's gens? "Gen rush so ill be toxic as a response?" Are you serious? HOW DARE SURVIVORS DO THE ONLY OBJECTIVE THEY HAVE!!! Like… bruh…

I disagree regarding aura reading being too strong (only with nurse perhaps, but with the other killers it's perfectly fine)... But if was for me instead of aura reading i would have added automatic gen regression (a smaller ruin basekit essecially). As for tunneling people well, i still think that's merely a coincidence: between my matches both as killer and survivor i didn't saw tunneling gameplay once (happened that the same guy was catched for 2 times in a row, but It was always cause of bad positioning, bad luck or both those things...). Don't get me wrong, maybe you had the unluck of being matched aganist tryharders, but this is my personal experience until now

I just had a match while being chased, 2 gens got done several gens got kicked and i got hatcheted. I was revealed over and over for most a solid 3 minute run. It's too much when EVERY unhooked survivor gets revealed especially when they are unhooking/healing a freshly unhooked survivor.

  • It's not an issue of getting into a new chase, its prioritizing the freshly unhooked players that's the issue. For new survivor players it creates a wildly unfun experience and for veteran players its just annoying and poor sportsmanship in a limited mode.

  • @YulechkaLive said:

I don't think that's a good idea. This will weaken all the killers and upset the balance. Although I am against tunneling, in most cases the survivors are to blame. They should not be treated directly under the hook, but run away and hide, so after the hook they are given acceleration and durability to do that.

The killers get infinite aura read for the first half of the game, they aren't weak. The event is largely killer sided and EVERYONE agrees. If you think preventing tunneling is a bad thing then YOU are part of the reason people are asking for anti tunnel mechanics…

  • @Tostapane said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3770270#Comment_3770270

in that case it was your fault for not hiding in a better place with objects that could protect you from the hatchets (especially considering that aura reading is a thing in this mode)… the killers in this case aren't tunneling since they were busy to do something else… not to mention that if the killers are patrolling the map and they found the same survivor multiple times it's a dumb play to ignore said survivor… you just got bad luck, happen. i'll tell you an anedocte: yesterday i was playing with a friend of mine as killers (i was a trapper while he was using billy), while he was patrolling a zone of the map he found a survivor that i previously put in the cage… was this tunneling? decisely no since we were focused on chasing survivors and defending a specific zone of the map (the remaining generators to defend were all placed in a single part of the map with the exception of a single gen that was to the other side of the map and since the billy is the only killer that could travel fast enough to check it, he went in that direction and found that guy again… generally speaking that guy was just unlucky…).

it's literally impossible to tunnel people in this mode since the cages don't have noise notification unlike hooks

Cages spawns are predictable if you pay attention, basically the opposite side of the map to where you were downed near other survivors. The aura reading is far too strong period. I would love to hear an argument saying it isn't.

  • The thing that needs to be "kill switched" is the amount of aura read. OMFG. If i get "sniped" after getting off hook because a gen gets done and i immediately go down where is the enjoyment there? Getting saved just to get immediately downed… If you don't want to call it tunneling we need a new word apparently. Every 5 seconds im revealed. This is just overpowered as hell.

  • @Kable13 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3768960#Comment_3768960

As a killer main, (I'm actually writing this while waiting for my next match lol). It's not on the killers to escape… its on the survivors.. They need to be able to complete the gens, just like normal.. if one person can keep the killers attentions, then the rest have a job to do, while that person does their job. no matter what…. atleast 1 gen should always be getting worked on, theres 12 of em ffs lol… The game mode is actually balanced, when survivors are focused and get their work done properly, theres nothing stopping them from all escaping in less than 5 minutes of the trial starting.

    Happy Hunting.

If you're the first one to get downed, you will be the first one to die. As soon as I get unhooked, and they start healing a gen gets popped, auras revealed of the people healing me and boom a hatchet, a huntress or a billy just appear. It has happened 4 out of the last 5 games I've played. People saying "tunneling" isn't happening is delusional. There are 8 people running around buuut the person fresh off hook is a much easier target. No one tryharding to chase a healthy survivor. Killers in this mode love taking the easy kills.

  • @bleep275 said:

best of all. In 2v8 there’s almost no camping and tunneling!

    I don't know what 2v8 you've been playing…

  • Behaviour hasn't cared about survivor gameplay since they nerfed self care. They don't want survivors to survive, it's DEAD by daylight not survive the night. This game mode IS killer sided, tunneling DOES happen and yes they expect us to smile and nod like it's not another killer event. There is no immunity to tunneling like "can't tunnel off of hooks" if you get a big aura reveal every gen kick and see 2 people healing a third THAT'S where you're going as killer and chances are its a fresh unhook. Easy downs. No one is sweating in this mode trying to play fair or get some good chases in. They took away hooking AGAIN. They took away flashlight saves AGAIN. OOOO but survivors get self care…when they're on death hook… and self care is nerfed to hell with no perks to offset the slow heal, no distortion to block aura reads which happen every 10 seconds. Meanwhile the killers got buffs to cooldowns, speed ups, and for the love of god they needed that for all the one two punch combos from slugging killer teams. This mode is a joke but survivors aren't laughing. Behaviour expects survivors to just bend over and take it using blood points as hush money like they always do. Throw us a friggin bone every once in a while.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3767616#Comment_3767616

    There is.

When multiple survivors linger around, the best move is to dispense as many hits as possible.

I had several instances where a survivor was slugged more than a minute because of the swarm there was around.

In one of these instances, the survivor ended up being healed.

In all others, his turn being "hooked" eventually came.

Eventually is the problem, it either comes or it doesn't and if it takes 5 minutes to hook someone then what's the incentive to play if that happens regularly and it's happening more and more.

  • @Tsunderechan said:

Survivor queues are long cause theres not enough killers to match against survivors after survivors collectively bullied out the killer playerbase over the course of past few years through scores of stacked BNPs, OOO SWFs, old DS/DH, Buckle Up/FTP, Old CoH, MFT (do i need to go on?) and most importantly: needlessly teabagging after using said combos.

With most gen regression perks getting nerfed to the ground cause the survivors refuse to adapt. Getting rid of their items is one of the few things killers still got aside from focused tunneling. If that lowers your morale, know that thats how killers felt these past few years.

Yeah all those combos you mentioned have been nerfed into the ground. Also, oh no teabagging? Does that trigger you? Like getting hit on hook over and over? Come on every killer main that trolls the forums knows the truth. The game is killer sided unless the 4 survivors are talking to each other. But then that removes an element to the game. I think voice chat killed true dbd. (turn on proximity chat see how quickly swf's get naturally balanced)

A mode with 2 killers is for killers. The fun is on the killer side. There's not much you can do to make survivor fun when you can get hit by two killers in one chase. BHVR is most likely going to have bribe survivors to play 2v8.

That's why there's 400% bp for survivors. Honestly like Idk why they thought actually balancing this mode would be a bad thing.

  • After a few games as survivor this mode just isn't fun… It's more of the same and if enjoyable was what they were going for they missed the mark survivor side as usual.

  • Possible way to amend the queue times. Killer players choose at the same time. RNG Priority pick first, so person A. gets to pick first, then person B. gets whats left. Then the next game person B. may or may not get priority picking up to the RNG gods. At least it will make game queues go faster for popular picks. I personally dont care really which killer i get to play as long as i get to try it out a few times.

  • @Peanits said:

It is not just you. A lot of people are excited to play Killer with a friend for the first time so there is a disproportionately high number of Killers are not enough Survivors to fill each of their lobbies. We've greatly increased the incentive for player Survivor in the meantime to help balance out the queue a little bit, but it's safe to say that Killer queue times will remain longer in 2v8 for at least a little while.

Yeeah almost like this is another game mode tilted killer side XD

The difference between a brown* toolbox and a commodius with BNP and Wire Spool is massive. You shouldn't just outright lie if you want your point to be taken seriously.

Also long survivor queues means there's not enough killers.

I did say straight up, i didnt mention add ons. So… if you're going to try and tear down what i said might want to stick to what i said.

  • This! "Just pick up the item" If you can remember exactly where it was dropped if it was even you who dropped it. "You get notified when they see your aura" Wonderful now i get to hunt for the item that SOMEONE dropped SOMEWHERE in the area. Not to mention smaller indoor maps like lerys/hawkins make this combo exponentially stronger especially vs stealth or 0 terror radius killers/add ons/perks. I've seen "flashlights OP" as a counter point. One perk counters all flashlight/bang/firecracker saves. Give survivors a perk to counter franklins. One for one and if the killer isn't running franklins bam wasted perk slot. Checks and Balances. There hasn't been a balance to franklins since it's inception. "Drop your item" Ok if you want to play the let's handicap ourselves game, give survivors something to drop a killers addon. Seriously Suvivor perk Crotch Punch causes Killer to drop one add on. Bam checks and balances. Ridiculous? I agree.

What are you talking about? If you play him normally without overshocking you still don't gain bloodlust, but you will eventually catch up to the survivor and hit him, because you prevented him from using pallets or windows?? What do you mean his shock does not give him an advantage in downing a survivor?? Do you even know how doctor works or what is this?

There are other ways and perks that allow you to escape losing los, scratch marks, off the record etc. that put distance between the two of you. So yes, no bloodlust 115% is trash, play a game of scratch mirror meyers and just chase with no blood lust.

  • It also prevents the killer from building blood thirst. So he's stuck at the stock 115% if he uses his power at all. With perks survivors can out run him all day every day. SO he's still an M1 killer because as is his abilities just annoy and slow the game down but don't actually give him any advantage in the actual taking down of survivors.

    @Archol123 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3719118#Comment_3719118

But how do you get away with either a killer with more than 115% ms is right behind you, or you don't get distance while getting shocked or you even get stunned by the shock? The shock window is longer than the window in which he cannot attack… So where exactly do you go with that "opportunity to get away"?

Spam shocking puts you at a disadvantage because you will lose additional distance, which is why it is a good thing that you get slowed down for using the shock because otherwise it would require 0 skill and there would be no reason to not just constantly shock, at any given loop, which would be super annoying.

  • @Archol123 said:

Yes ofc, I think it is a 2 second window or so... But what exactly does that change?

Downside is you cant down someone by shocking. So the opportunity to get away is still there. Spam shocking is annoying but does nothing really. Which is my whole point.
