lol what? obviously I am new, I am just pointing out how stupidly broken it is. Whether I have played 100 games or 10000 games, it still changes nothing.
It changes quite a lot. You’re new enough that you don’t even realise the problem with this match wasn’t SWF, it was matchmaking and your own inexperience.
This was a group of 2 with 2 other solos so SWF really wasn’t your reason for losing here. The 2 stack were even running stuff that slowed them down and made them waste time so it’s not like they were some highly optimised SWAT team. The problem is that you made a lot of mistakes because you’re new to the game, which is totally understandable and not your fault - it’s a failing of the ranking and matchmaking in this game.
You should be complaining about how horribly this game onboards new players by making them go against people with thousands of hours, not SWF. Removing SWF would not have changed the outcome of this match at all.

If you see her set a trap somewhere and you’re not being chased, set it off to disarm it. If you trigger it right on the edge of its radius and immediately run away, she won’t be close enough after teleporting to hit you.

I came to the conclusion, because killers used to be able to dribble survivors to the hook.
Killers could drop the survivor up to 5 times before he broke free. Survivors complained, and it was reduced to 3 times.
Killers could use Enduring to reduce the stun duration. Survivors complained, and they increased the stun duration. But since that wasn´t enough, shortly later, they removed the reduced stun of Enduring for DS hits.
Dribbling was not a consistent counter. One body block, or poor hook placement (and hook placement was much less consistent back then) and you got DSed anyway.
At least you can actually play around DS most of the time now and you don’t just straight up lose your first hook. I think you’re either new or forgetting how horribly unfair and busted old DS was if you think it’s worse now. It was absolutely worse before.

I get that just nerfing it would make people anrgy.
But there are many change ideas that also buff it in other ways.
Like I read a post of DS being changed into a true anti tunneling perk.
Nerf:
20/25/30 seconds
disables when touching gen/gate/totem.
Buff:
Two time use
when downed while the timer is still going add extra time 20/25/30 seconds.
It would be a huge benefit for survivors that go against super tunnelers when you could use DS two times against them.
But also killers would given time to breathe again when its not that abusable anymore.
So what speaks against a change without touching the general value of the perk that much?
The game would become a bit healthier with a change like this.
I can only speak for myself, but I’m against DS changes because I think the perk is fine in its current state and discourages certain behaviours, which is a good thing.
I play both sides. I know that DS can be annoying at times. But a) plenty of killer ######### can be HIGHLY annoying as well, but who cares, and b) it really isn’t a big deal most of the time if you just expect everyone to run it and play accordingly.
It’s the same reason I have for thinking NOED is fine how it is. It’s annoying but so what? And the existence of it discourages survivors from ignoring dull totems, just as DS discourages the killer from just hooking the same guy back to back to back. They both serve their purpose and the people who hate them are usually the people who forgot to play around them and got blindsided.
If you want to nerf every single perk that “feels unfair” then the only stuff left would be, like, Bond, Botany Knowledge and Visionary on the survivor side, and meme perks on the killer side. Sometimes perks have a strong effect and that’s okay to a point.
I hope that makes sense and answers your question.

In all my time playing, I have had like 2 or 3 survivors give me pity kills. I know I that I have let someone go via hatch or door way more than that.
That’s just you, though. The average killer does not give hatch or free gates. I’ve given tons and tons of hatch escapes but I can count on both hands the number of times I’ve been given a free escape when playing survivor. Merciful killers are by far the minority.

You are the one that childishly demands concrete solutions for how to do what I proposed, when you have provided no better.
You still are failing completely to understand, that the PROBLEM IS SURVIVORS COMMUNICATING.
That is the issue that needs to be worked with, and around, and putting in a in-game chat literally makes that 1000% worse.
Survivors in a SWF communicate. There’s no way to unring that bell. It isn’t limited to communicating about the killer, but here are some examples of things SWF can communicate that solos can’t:
- The killer (“It’s a Ghostface, be careful”)
- The killer’s perks (“They beelined right to me healing, they probably have Nurse’s”)
- The killer’s add ons (“That Hag trap didn’t notify me so she has Rusty Shackles”)
- Totems (“There’s a lit totem in shack” / “I’ve cleansed four dulls so only one left”)
- Survivor perks (“I have Adrenaline so finish the gen before you rescue me” / “I don’t have BT but you do, you go for the rescue”)
- Hook states (“I’m on death hook, try to take hits for me”)
- Survivor items (“I have a medkit with full charges, do the gen” / “My flashlight is depleted so I can’t save you”)
- Map layout and pallets (“Shack pallet is gone” / “This side of the map is a dead zone, don’t run here”)
- Where they’re being chased (“Being chased around shack”)
- Which gens are being worked on (“Doing the gen in the main building”)
- Gate progress (“The gate on the left is 99d”)
- The killer’s playstyle (“He doesn’t mindgame at all and just holds W” / “He’s camping around the corner so do gens”)
Etc. etc. etc. I’m sure you get my point.
How could the devs possibly change this? They’d have to completely rework the game from the ground up. While you’re right that considering how information sharing affects killers is important (and they do seem to be doing this more), it’s impossible for them to redesign enough existing gameplay elements so that effective communication makes no difference.
That’s why people talk about giving solos more information or an easier means of sharing information. Because then survivors are on more of an even playing field, and from there they can buff killers further. If solos were able to communicate like SWFs they may not have nerfed Undying, for example, because it’s less of an issue for a SWF. And they can buff every killer who isn’t Freddy or Nurse or Spirit.
-
They ask questions about stuff they can’t easily gather data on in game, and the topics are probably related to internal discussions they’re having. E.g. people really want to see an improved tutorial but don’t care about gifting things to their friends in-game (or vice versa) so they now know what to prioritise if they have resources available for developing new features.
Similar with horror stuff. Do people care about the horror veneer? Is there any part of it in particular they want, sounds or graphics or more creepy lore?
-
I believe them that it’s not MMR. Matchmaking times are just horrible currently so the matchmaking is more lenient, meaning you get weird rainbow lobbies. People complain about queue times but this is the logical result - people get thrown into mismatched games to keep their queue times from getting too long.
-
No, that seems wrong.
- 26k base
- 26k for the WGLF stacks
- 39k for the blood rush
- If you escaped, 5k for the survival offering
- Total should be around 96,000 bloodpoints
Seems like you didn’t get the points for WGLF and your offering. Might be worth testing further and reporting as a bug if necessary.
-
I don’t know. I haven’t seen her since they fixed that echolocation bug, I don’t think. Maybe once, but she’s super rare for me.
All I get these days is Nurses. I had like 5 matches of Nurse back to back the other day, I ended up turning off the game.
-
Killers that I rarely see camp would be a shorter list tbh.
I don’t see many Blights or Plagues camp. That’s about it.
-
To be fair I’ve had many instances where I’ve said to myself, “this is definitely a rank 13 killer” and then at the end game screen they’re a rank 2 or whatever. You can’t always tell.
But honestly the people who will taunt a killer player for not doing well are not going to care what rank they are. They’ll say “ggez git gud baby killer” whoever you are.
-
These are really excellent. Hats off to whoever worked on these updates, they did a great job.
-
People are allowed to have opinions that you don’t have. Instead of telling people to stop saying things you don’t like, you’re free to voice your own opinion or make arguments in favour of the new animations. But nobody is obligated to stop complaining about something they don’t like just because you tell them to.
-
It’s never going to happen. People have been asking for accessibility options for years and they’ve made absolutely no effort, in fact they regularly release updates that make the game LESS accessible because they simply don’t care.
-
He’s not wrong. But this will never change as long as people keep buying skins, chapters and rift passes and sinking thousands of hours into the game.
-
Deathslinger. It’s always going to be a short match with no chases and fast gens, and then they try to slug everyone or camp at the end. Not blaming the players, his design just lends itself to the most unfun matches in existence.
-
I’ve had this done to me and I really didn’t care. It’s not against the rules, it’s just kind of rude but there’s tons of stuff that’s kind of rude that isn’t and shouldn’t be punishable.
Like, if this is “unacceptable behaviour for a streamer” where do you draw the line? If they refuse to let someone heal them or refuse to heal should that be disallowed? Or if they beat a teammate to a chest and take the item even if their teammate really wants it? Some people consider flashlight blinding a killer at a pallet rude, is that off the table for streamers now too?
As long as they’re not promoting actual toxicity like insults and harassment, cheats, witch hunting, and so on, just leave them to it. Don’t watch them if this is behaviour you disapprove of. But it’s not for the devs to police every slightly negative interaction a Fog Whisperer has in the game, as long as they’re abiding by the rules.
-
Doctor and Spirit. I’m not totally sure why but I think it’s because their weapons are large, and it feels like they should go further than they do.
-
Keys will definitely be changed at some point.
The main difference between moris and keys in terms of balancing is that the devs could easily change moris without having to change a load of other stuff as well (animations, add ons, achievements, etc.).
Any change they make to keys will require changing other gameplay elements. And I’m pretty sure they’re gonna rework how keys actually function, rather than just changing a number like they did with moris.

No, I mean high level streamer. Tofu, Scott Jund, Umbra, etc. It will require an incredibly disproportionate amount of skill to counter a decent SWF group with new Clown.
Dude, new Clown will just be old Clown with a faster reload and an OPTIONAL secondary effect. If you think it will take a “disproportionate amount of skill” to use then don’t use it. Just use slowdown bottles and Clown will be the same as he is now, with a faster reload (i.e. buffed).

It's funny that people complain about Undetectable perks like Tinkerer. Just run Spine Chill!
When people complain about Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer, it’s not the Undetectable status that they find problematic. It’s that the killer is notified every time a gen is nearly done, which allows them to chase survivors off the gen for easy regression with Ruin. Not saying whether these complaints are justified or not, but Spine Chill does absolutely nothing to address people’s issues.

@OBX said:
Lol at these devs. To think that clown was sooooo op he needed to actively help survivors run faster. The pure incompetence and lack of any clue how this game is played.
So don’t use the speed bottles? He’ll be the same Clown as now except with a faster reload. You can even just use the speed bottles at the start of the match to get to an early Discordance proc faster and never use them again, if you want.
Not sure why people complain about a change that they’re not forced to use. This is an ideal rework - Clown works exactly the same way if you want, or you can try using the new aspect of his power. Far from an incompetent change.
-
Most of the gens in Midwich spawn within the classrooms. You occasionally get one outside in the courtyard, and there are usually one or two in the corridors, but checking the rooms as you move around the map is your best bet. They spawn both upstairs and downstairs so it can feel difficult to find them sometimes.

It is. However, the question is: are you really playing against high MMR only? Being rank 1 doesn't mean you only play against the best survivors.
Very true, but it’s not like you can tell pre-game whether the survivors or killer will be high-MMR, trying-their-best-to-win types or people just messing around with meme builds.
-
A killer that had infinite stacks of Remember Me so we couldn’t open the gates. That’s the most interesting one I’ve seen, usually they’re just speed hackers.

Dbd will never be balanced. Dead dawg is a survivor sided map and it is not small. It's my favorite map.
And yes, abuse what u can, just do it. Close ur eyes and just do it.
Youre right, and more and more people are catching on to Dead Dawg being a good survivor map as well. I see more offerings for it now by survivors who clearly know how to run it.

I have a third choice - play my way regardless. With that said, the fact you can list all that stuff shows you know exactly the techniques that piss people off. You've underlined my point - this game encourages "toxicity". I try to play the way I do because I've read these forums. Hell I've read the responses to my comments. The killer perk vs survivor perk "what is toxic" debate clearly shows a community divided by the mechanics of the game. Is this made worse by deliberately toxic players making the rest of us look bad? Absolutely. Are the devs then free of responsibility? Not a chance.
Now the devs recently made changes to moris that have intensified the argument. Thing is that change has killer mains asking "how will they adjust survivors as a response?". There are some very loud voices calling for keys to be nerfed. This highlights my point - everybody knows there are multiple flaws to be resolved but the devs just do small fixes while they spend most of their time churning out new characters to make more money.
This game can get great fun. We need the devs to make many more fixes to make the game consistently fun. Stop creating new characters or upgrading maps just because the PS5 exists and focus on improving the game as it exists now. You can always bring in more money making bullshit when you're done.
The devs nerfed moris because they were objectively too strong. You can’t say the same about certain styles of play, because it’s completely dependent on context.
If a survivor goes down and gets hooked smack dab in the middle of the last 3 gens, and the killer patrols those gens, they’re essentially “camping” but actually they’re playing exactly the way they should. Forcing “camping” to be bannable or punished by in-game mechanics would end up penalising the killer player for playing the smart way in this scenario. Could they leave the 3 gen and the hook and go wander the edges of the map? Sure. And if you want to play with “honour” and do that then feel free. But expecting people to make an objectively bad decision for the sake of fairness is totally unreasonable, and forcing them to play badly on purpose because you don’t like campers would not be good game design.
This is just one example. Camping, tunnelling, and so on are already risky because they can easily lose you the game. It’s not on the devs to force people to play in certain ways, because players already have tools within the game to make camping/tunnelling/etc. unviable.
-
@NZCrazyMan said:
So I'm one of these guys who always tries to play the game the right way. I prefer builds that are not antagonistic. As a survivor I try to be a team player (unless a rift challenge encourages me to be selfish which is inevitable). As a killer I avoid tunnelling (although sometimes being a chaser type of killer it happens naturally) and never facecamp or slug.
This game is obviously not targeted towards people like me.
More and more lately I'm coming up against players not interested in using skill. As a survivor I get a slugger or facecamper at least 50-60% of the time. As a killer I constantly get over-aggressive survivors or worse I get DCs and teabaggers if I'm playing well.
The culture of this game SUCKS. The toxicity is born of poor character design, devs saturating the game with underdeveloped killers who I swear go through zero beta testing and bugs galore. It is then promoted by people who get frustrated by the design of the game. Survivor vs Killer arguments on this forum are mute - the real issue here is the lack of developmental oversight.
Don't get me wrong - Dead By Daylight can be hugely satisfying and I massively enjoy the fun rounds. However for a game that generates massive profits I find the lack of investment shocking. Why am I paying to get constantly dunked on?
Pull your heads in devs. The players may add to the crap but it starts and ends with you guys.
Your first mistake is assuming that there’s a “right way” to play the game.
Play however you want, but don’t expect anyone else to follow your made up rules. Nobody made you the authority on the right way to play, so expecting the rest of the player base and the devs to agree with you and change the rules to suit you is quite egotistical.
Camping, tunnelling, slugging, gen rushing, using strong perk combos, playing selfishly - they’re all allowed so your only choices are to adapt around them, or stop playing.

Iron Will doesn't have an effect on anything but injured survivors, if a survivor isn't making sounds in the dying state for example, it isn't any more likely to happen with Iron Will than without it, the game just messes up sometimes.
It doesn’t affect the silent on the ground bug, but it does stop breathing sounds. Healthy survivors will breathe as they move around and pant as they run but if they’re injured with Iron Will that doesn’t happen, they’re completely silent. Not sure whether it’s intended or not.
-
He’s really fun to play.
But he’s not easy to play, so when you get downed by him as survivor you feel like they’ve earned it by playing well or you deserved it because you made a mistake. Likewise when you play him every down is quite satisfying.
I’m never impressed when a snare-spamming Freddy downs me (not hating on Freddy players but it’s not a hard power to use), but if a Blight can calculate his angles well enough to hit me it’s quite cool.
-
Yes and no. It really depends.
If the survivors all play decently, split up and pressure multiple gens and don’t greed pallets and don’t play recklessly, they’re pretty sure to win. The killer may get a kill or two if they play well but the gates will probably be powered.
But most games don’t go like this. If the survivors play like average survivors, it really depends on how the killer plays. If they play well they’ll probably win.
So I’m not sure I’d say it’s survivor sided necessarily, but I think it is more dependent on survivor skill level. Killer skill matters obviously but if the survivors have good teamwork, strong perks and favourable RNG it’s hard for them to lose.
-
For the shack, place a snare just before the window, on the inside. Chase them around and as they enter the shack and prepare to vault the window out, moonwalk into the shack. If they’re paying attention they’ll hesitate inside when they don’t see your red light, then your snare will force them to medium vault which will get you a hit. Either that or they’ll go to the pallet and you’ll get it down early.

I think by now we have realized that finding a survivor game takes a while longer than playing killer.
Consoles Players
I think most Console players are avoiding playing killer (Myself Included). The fps is so bad on most killers, especially on Blight. I am starting to realize that PS4 and Xbox one players are going to have to be stuck with whatever we are given by the Devs. Kinda sad that this topic hasn’t been brought up in a while and how that massive thread explaining how this game is on console was pretty much ignored. I don’t have too much hope that the Devs will bring up this topic as they pretty much avoid it.
Would be neat to see the Devs play on those platforms. I don’t know how it runs on the PS5 and XSX so I can’t speak for those, it could be a while till most of us upgrade.
I’ve played PS4 and PS5. PS5 is much better. You’re still a bit hamstrung by the bad controller controls (this game clearly wasn’t made with console in mind and they’ve made absolutely no effort to update the controls since then), but the FPS is very smooth and consistent and it feels a lot nicer to play.
A lot of the console ports’ major problems seem to be better with the new gen consoles, but like you said, it will be a while before most people switch. :/
-
Just do the bones 4head
-
I don’t think refusing to unhook you is reportable. It’s ######### but it’s not against the rules.
-
If I have the choice between eating a DS at 4/5 gens or respecting it and them trying to force me to eat it at 1 gen, that is not a difficult choice. Getting their DS out of the way means they can’t use it to pull a risky play later, since you can kill them.
Obviously you shouldn’t be chasing down recently unhooked survivors and going out of your way to try and force a DS out of them if they’re trying to avoid you or if you have another potential target. You’ll throw the match doing that. It’s if they do something like jump in a locker in front of you. You have the choice between leaving them (you have no pressure) or just taking the stun (you have no pressure but now their DS is gone), and the second option is better.
-
It really depends on the survivors you get. I will say that I notice fewer PC survivors running Self Care than console survivors, though. PC survivors more often seem to either run medkits or play injured until someone else heals them.
-
I don’t notice any difference as survivor. I still get situations where I see the killer swing and hear the sound of them whiffing and then I take damage anyway. Still get hit through windows, after pallet drops, etc.
As killer my experience is worse. I have a very good connection, I’m close to the server and my ping is steady, it’s basically always 30-40. And yet I get situations where I clearly hit a survivor in the centre of my screen but the attack goes through them. It feels awful.
I don’t have any video clips because I don’t record while I play, but I’ll try to remember to do that so I have some evidence of what I’m talking about next time I feel inclined to try and struggle through a killer match.
-
I can’t believe they stuck with 10k for almost the entirety of the event, even after people have continuously complained about it being stingy. Lol.
-
If queue times are long enough, the matchmaking will put you in more uneven match ups. Killer queues are instant at pretty much all hours of the day for me now and survivor queues are long. So if it’s the same for you, that’s probably why. There just aren’t enough people playing killer.
-
I think if they reworked Rusty Shackles and removed the ability for Hag to spam traps around the hook people would be less annoyed by her.
I enjoy her, personally, both to play as and against. She’s not easy for a new killer to play since your instinct is to chase, so a lot of them resort to camping which is obviously very unfun.
-
Challenges ruined solo queue as well. I avoid solo queue entirely the first few days after a new tome level because people bomb hooks, run around cleansing totems then kill themselves on first hook so they can do the same again in another match, and throw the game to try for stuns and blinds. It’s unbearable.
I like the challenges that are killer specific or perk specific, as long as they’re not too weird or wacky. Stuff like Dwight The Brave is just sadistic though, or the basement challenges. Do they think they’re encouraging fun gameplay with this stuff?
-
I’d rather they make it be “hold X to give up” - that way you can end it quickly if you want to give a teammate a chance for the hatch, but there’s no confusion for new players, and lag spikes or input errors don’t kill people by accident.
-
@luvcraft said:
playing hag for a daily after not playing her for a while, and it feels like her speed is HALF what it used to be. I'm running slower than all the survivors! How am I supposed to win a chase with this???
And don't give me any "you have to set traps in strategic places" BS; when I pop to a trap the survivors STILL leave me in the dust with their standard running speed running away from the trap!
Is this a new bug?
She’s slowed down after teleporting so if they pop the trap on its edge and immediately turn and run, they’ll gain some distance on you if you chase them after teleporting.
-
I think the Twins are strong but they’re the definition of annoying. It’s annoying when your Victor gets kicked, it’s annoying that none of your perks work, it’s annoying to be slugged for minutes at a time, it’s annoying to watch Victor go sailing past your character’s model and get downed anyway. I can’t think of any aspect of this killer that isn’t annoying, honestly. They can camp like a champ, they’re completely dependent on their power but their power robs them of the ability to use perks, even the walking animation of Charlotte feels slow and clunky.
I feel bad for the devs because they obviously put a lot of work in to this chapter and the killer, but Elodie and her perks were the highlight of this chapter for me.

I had this happen recently. I found a flashlight and my teammate found the wraith with premonition. I revealed him with the flashlight and then we just ran around him to get enough points to safety pip. 😂
Same thing happened to me except the Wraith got mad that we lightburned him, started chasing us and ended up killing everyone. It was actually a fun game though; way more fun than an afk killer, lmao.
