I honestly don’t know why people use self care, it takes so long and is a waste of a perk slot, I get that some people don’t want to rely on teammates but there are other perks to help you while your injured and give benefits ironwill, dead hard, resilience self care just seems self destructive imo

Why do people still use self care at red ranks you ask? Because 80%+ in red ranks are actually bad.

(I am not saying i am good tho)

people complained ranking was 2 hard.......those people were massive idiots...and now we are were we are.

I have never seen a game where a ranking system was so controversial, so messed up, as it is in dbd.

that said, idk if you have much right to complain with your boring blandette look and DS and DH tbh.

I fully agree with what you say, even with your insult ;)

You conveniently left off the screen that would show their Ranks. You being Red Rank in no way means your team mates are Red Rank.

what are you talking? Go 2:27 please.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

In defence of the survivors they did have all the generators completed and only got caught because of traps. I wouldn’t say that tank 20s are grinding to level red ranks just because they play the game either.

It is super easy to do gens when the killer is not on them.

And it is not even about they steping into those traps. It is just about how the deal with that situation. All 3 are running around like headless chickens i would expect from guys who just installed the game. When i watch them i see myself after 1-2 weeks playing the game.

I dont wanna ######### on them by the way. It is not their fault that they are not properly matched.

So... a problem with the Ranking system doesn't invalidate the complain of the Killers. Just cause the game puts boosted Survivors in your lobby the game is not "balanced", when you verse the real red rank survivors the match is most likely a stomp on the Killer.

And how often do you really get those "real" rank 1s? There are so many boosted red ranks, that the chance you run into a really good team is not high, lets be honest here.

But thats exactly what i mean by the way.. if you are a top tier killer, you should run into these top tier survivors (and the way around ofc). But with the current ranking system, it is just a lotterie. You might run into a 4man squad with 5000+ hours players, or you might run into solo players who installed the game 2 weeks ago.

  • @w_sohl said:

Look, it's a game. You have to go in knowing sometimes you're the bug and sometimes you're the windshield. The game wouldn't be fun if you won all the time.

Its not about winning, its about playing with people that match my/our skilllevel. Same with killer. I dont like facing a killer with 100 hours playtime, especially not when it becomes the majority of time - which might happen, if this ranking system stays the way it does.

  • I dont think it is neccessary only the gen time but rather a combinition of map size, mobility of some killers, overall map pressure, gen speed with toolboxes and many killers that dont know when to leave a chase.

Here is a prime example i recorded yesterday vs a Huntress on Tempel of purgation. She should have slugged the Meg, but other then that, she did not do anything terrible wrong here. She got genrushed because of the reasons i mentioned above.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lns3ZfmOBJs

Instead of fixing the genspeed i would rather fix map sizes. Especially tempel and red forest are a bit to large and overall very hard to patrole as a killer. And nerf toolboxes just a bit.

  • Bill, not even close. Look at that dude, he is the Lara Croft of the 2010s

  • I mean there was a time, when ranking up was really hard, you had to have a perfect game to get pip.

Just make it, that you need 16 Points for Double pip, 15-14 for single, 13-11 is black, and everything below 10 is depip.

  • Sure, i play him every once in a while.

  • Win = fun ;)

  • True, but after one kill, the value is pretty much gone unless you combine it with tuft of hair - but then again stalking takes forever. Also, as far as i know, you even loose movement speed and therefore play with you food is essential, which would cost even more time to prepare your first kill.

Well, i am no fan of it, but i see why you and probably also others like it.

    As the title says...

    Blood Warden:

Duration increased from 30/40/60 seconds to 60/70/80 seconds

    Corrupt Intervention:

Duration increased from 80/100/120 to 120/160/200 seconds

    Fire Up (Rework):

Each generator that is completed, your movement speed is increased by 4/5/6%

    Mindbreaker:

50% repair progession (or lower) removed; survivors will now be affected by the Exhausted status when working on a generator

    Spies from the Shadows (Rework):

When survivors scare a crow, their aura is revealed for 3/4/5 seconds. Spies from the Shadows has a cooldown of 20 seconds.

    Surge:

    Cooldown removed

    Unrelenting:

Reduction increased from 20/25/30% to 40/45/50%

Hm, some of those changes sound okay, but some are a bit... absurd, sorry.

Bloodwarden: I dont know why you think this perk is weak, but i promise you, its actually one of the best killer perks you can run. Making the perk lasting even longer would totally break it, especially since EGC.

Fire Up: 6% Movementspeed increase per gen? Imagine a killer running around with almost 140% Movement speed. There would be pretty much nothing the survivor can do anymore. Combine this with Play with your food.. LOL ending chases after 2 seconds tops :D

  • @Iron said:

I can't believe you are actually advocating a change to some of those ultra rare add-ons. What do you want done? Tuft of hair takes forever to get off in the first place, bloody glove was already changed, and black incense gives something to the plague to punish the no heal meta against her.

Tuft is no big deal to reach within the first 1-2 gens popin, especially with memorial. I can remember one game i lost with this addon so far. Everything else was 4K or 3K with hatch escape. Its to powerful in my opinion. Combined with Pop and corrupt, its god tier, especially on smaller maps...

The potential of glove is insane. A bit map dependent of course, but usually a free 4K if you know what you are doing.

Well, i am not a big plague player, but she works only, if people are cleansing. They have a choice between constantly giving away their position, especially horrible while looping or cleansing. Dont cleanse against pleague, this is my motto ;)

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1010102#Comment_1010102

My posts are completely related to your original topic.

One of your issues was hit box problems. I posted that it is in fact not hit boxes and is related to ping.

You then posted a strawman argument for why you think the way hit boxes work is bad and how they should work. You follow this up with asking me to refute your strawman argument. I point out that asking someone to refute a strawman argument doesn't make any sense but it is clear that you still don't know what the definition of a strawman argument is and are not going to look it up because you still insist I haven't refuted it.

If you'd simply look up the definition you would understand how this looks.

I dont see this leading anywhere, so we let it go. You say the hitboxes are working fine, i say they are not. We both have reasons why we think the way we do, lets stick with this. Also stop trying to explain me what a strawman agrument is, you sound not very mature by doing so.

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1010050#Comment_1010050

It's not, it's just as prevalent. It only seems more prevalent because a lot of people don't know how her hatchets work.

Thats the thing you simply dont understand for whatever reason (or you ignore it, i dont know). Its not about how they work. Its about how they SHOULD work. And that is my complain... Other games showed us,that this can be done properly. If you are fine with the hitboxes then good for you.

And i am aware that the servers are also an issue, but as said, the combinition makes it so aweful.

    @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1010022#Comment_1010022

If you knew what a strawman argument was then you'd realize asking me to refute it doesn't make any sense.

lol you are a special one, aren't you? :D

Since you did not even tried to refute any argument so far and you are just talking about something that has nothing to do with the actual topic, i asked you to refute my so called strawman argument. Maybe i should have used" " for Strawman Arguemtn to make this more clear.

Whatever, i dont see any light at the end of the tunnel here. Peace out.

People saying Huntress' hitboxes are broken have never played huntress. Period.

Agreed with everything on the list. But, #2 is definitely ping related. I've never experienced something as bad as in that clip.

Happens to me pretty much all the time, every day. Yet it is not the ping (was at 30) or up and download.

It also happens to almost anybody else, and that clip was no where near the worst i have wittnessed. You might be the exception then, good for you. :)

I am not playing the huntress a lot, actually she is my least played killer. But when i play her, i land bullshit hits left and right.. trust me ;). Its not only about huntress, its every killer. I just picked a random example which should be very significant.

I thought it was pretty obvious without explanation but people kept making posts like this one because they didn't understand it.

Except this isn't simple logic, it's a lack of understanding all the variables that go into why her hatchets are the way they are.

Agree to disagree though, this isn't going anywhere.

"Except this isn't simple logic, it's a lack of understanding all the variables that go into why her hatchets are the way they are."

Thank you, again, we know how this works. But it does not matter. Knowing that this stuff does not work like a regular hitbox is supposed to work (you know, hitting air counting as hit for example is not considere as "working hitbox"), wont fix it! At least not in this universe.

When i buy a car and the salesman tells me, that the breaks are not working, but i can use an anchor to stop the vehicle, it still wont make the car a decent product, even if there is an option to adapt to the problem. No matter how nice the anchor is, and no matter how often the salesman is telling me.

  • I play her from time to time, but i dont find she is very much fun tbh. Thats also the most obvious reason, since she is definitly a strong killer.

  • @Blueberry said:

It isn't poorly designed. If you had actually watched the stream where they explained how it works you would understand better.

It is poorly designed when they even have to explain something that should be selfexplainable.

You hit the visual body = its a hit

You dont hit the visual body = it is a miss

Anything beside that, no matter what the reason is, is bad. If you dont agree with this simple logic, please lets agree we disagree :)

  • @Blueberry said:

"The intended effect is to hit a survivor fully covered behind obsticals?"

The intended effect is to learn the hit boxes to know what will cover you and what won't.

You defend something that is poorly made by saying "players have to adapt". I hope so much that you are joking right now.

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1009366#Comment_1009366

"but who cares why Hitbox does not work? They dont work"

Because this is not correct, they do work. How they are functioning based on what I described is their intended effect.

It isn't game breaking, it's been this way for a long time. When you know how its hit boxes work you can better predict how to dodge them.

The intended effect is to hit a survivor fully covered behind obsticals? All what you are saying is.. they could not find a way to do it propperly. And i say: Then try harder. Saying this is not optimal is a big understatement.

The only reason why it is playable is that she is handicaped otherwise. It is like saying "Hey we know that CS GO is not working because we are not able to implement instant hit detection, but we rather give you 2 square meter headshot hitboxes to compensate that".

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1009345#Comment_1009345

This appears as a problem with hit boxes and Huntress hatchets to you because you don't understand what their hitboxes are and how they work. There is a dev stream on their youtube where they go over it in detail.

Huntress hatchets have one large egg shaped hit box for detecting if it hit a survivor. It has a second much smaller sphere shaped hitboxes inside that one for detecting objects. This is what causes the perception of them hitting you when you think they shouldn't be.

The hatchet goes over a wall where a survivor is behind. The smaller object collision hit box is still higher than the wall so it doesn't cause collision and continues to travel over it. Meanwhile the larger hitbox around the hatchet for detecting a survivor does go through the wall. However this hitbox is for detecting survivors not objects, which is why it detects the survivor and gives a hit after it passes through the wall and connects with the survivors hit box.

These 2 different hit boxes around the hatchet are to give it more leeway with hitting survivors through holes or over objects and is completely an intended effect.

They tested making the hit boxes on the hatchet match its actual shape more closely in a patch a long time ago but they reverted it because it made it extremely hard to hit hatchets over or through anything.

I dont want to be rude, and sorry that i dont know exactly how the hitbox works, but who cares why Hitbox does not work? They dont work. fix it period. No matter what it costs, it is gamebreaking to a certaint level.

  • @Blueberry said:

Seems good to me, except for number 2.

The issue isn't hit boxes, that is ping related to dedicated servers.

Its both and that makes it so aweful. Stand behind any obstical that covers you completly, let the huntress shoot a hatched above it... see getting hit. Same with walls.

  • @Nobsyde said:

I agree to basically everything you say, I'll just add one bit about your point 6 - Ranks:

even if devs want to stick with the current rank reset mechanism (that is: set back to the nearest lower colour), they should at least change the reset to the lower boundary of the rank colour, instead of the higher.

Right now a rank 4 is reset to rank 5, he just needs to gain 4 pips and then he's back exactly where he was - this means that there could be a hypothetical scenario where a player could play only two games per month and maintain always the same rank (..two games double pipping, that is).

Absolutly agree and it would be the right call, but still this is definitly not enough.

    BBQ, Discordance, Pop

BBQ is good because after hooking a survivor you know which gen to teleport to and then if needed give it a Pop kick. Also bloodpoints.

With Discordance you can see when survivors are rushing a gen together and then either fake teleport to scare them off or teleport and chase and perhaps even a pop kick if you have one.

After those 3 any other perk is fine. Enduring for pallet stuns, sloppy to slow them down, anything really.

As for add ons I’m not quite sure. I avoid forever freddy builds because it’s dull. I tend to use pallets more than snares because I find them more fun, recently I’ve been taking the teleport cooldown add on to get around the map faster.

I quite like class photo. You lose the ability to take a teleport but it’s good at getting survivors off gens.

The best Killer to buy first is Leatherface.

He has BBQ & Chilli, which is the most important perk for Killers. It gives you 100% more bloodpoints (and has a great effect too).

Also, he is the ultimate "basic" Killer.

  • The Nurse is the best. I sometimes forget that, then i run into a good one and get remembered instantly.

Spirit and Billy are better then Freddy.

Hag is no way the best Killer, but i still have her high up (like rank 6 or 7)

Demogorgon unfortunatly not nearly as strong as you are telling us

And Plague better then Huntress? I hope this is a joke.

While the options for other objectives are limited, they do exist. Cleanse totems, search chests, get some altruism points, sabo hooks... And if at that point they still haven't killed anyone just do the gens. You've given them the same time they gave you by not tunneling.

At the same time, if they start tunneling just rush gens and leave. They've given up their rights to not be gen rushed by tunneling

Cleansing hex totems, sabo hooks and searching chests are just synonyms for "doing nothing". Alturism makes sense of course, but only if that is available.

Its a very effective strategy to hook a survivor and go for anybody who is seen on BBQ or any other tracking perk, so the killer has always the option to play that way.

The point is, no matter if he is tunneling or camping or using a different strategy like the one i mentioned, he is using a strategy to win (and that is fine!). But if the survivors are doing anything else then gens, they are just doing nothing, thats it. This is no strategy, this is just beeing (semi) afk.

So in my opinion it is legit when a survivor thinks the killer was tunneling, since thats the way the killer has chosen to play. But it makes not really any sense when the killer is blaming the survivors to genrush, because there is no other way they can play.

  • @newavitar said:

With Ruin being changed, I'm seeing a lot of stuff about "genrushing" and this often brings the argument that it's "efficiently completing the objective" with some people outright claiming it "doesn't exist"

Recognize your double standards please. Both sides, stop with this biased #########. It's getting annoying.

Genrushing is to killers as tunneling is to survivors.

What makes tunneling toxic and annoying? You are removing a player from the game extremely quickly. This usually results in a low amount of points, an unfun game, and a potential depip. This is annoying and unfun, as anyone will attest. No one intelligent will try to claim otherwise.

    What is genrushing?

Genrushing is the act of completing generators extremely quickly, thus ending the game as fast as possible.

    Did you catch that?

"Ending the game as fast as possible"

    Does that sound familiar?

Genrushing is toxic and annoying because you are removing a player from the game extremely quickly. This usually results in a low amount of points, an unfun game, and a definite depip. This is annoying and unfun, as anyone will attest. No one intelligent will try to claim otherwise.

Now comes the argument "we're just doing our objective. That's not toxic. You're just salty"

    Isn't that what tunneling is?

Genrushing apparently "doesn't exist" because the survivors are just doing their objective. You're right, their objective is to complete the generators and get out.

The killer's objective? Kill the survivors. Simple.

So by eliminating someone quickly, they have essentially done their job as efficiently as possible with no regard to the fun of the other player

Guys. Recognize the double standard. Play both sides, not only will it help you're gameplay, but you'll start to learn why one side talks the way it does. No one on this forum, on YouTube or Twitch, or anywhere else is the centre of this game and deserves to be treated like a king. No one.

Recognize the double standard. It's getting annoying.

Well, i agree with what you say and i am also fine with "genrush" and "getting tunneled" but there is one flaw with your statement: The killer has the joice how he wants to play while survivors are pretty much bounded to their objective. Sure, killing survivors is the objective for the killer, but there are many ways to reach the goal while survivors just can leftclick a generator.

  • Here is my list what has to be done.

1 Fix Hitboxes and server issues. Its super frastrating getting hit at a windows or pallets when you are way out of rang. The killer hitting air and doing dmg is absurd.

2 FIX HITBOXES and SERVER ISSUES. This point cant be overstated.

3 Hitboxes! You get the idea...

On both sides i am salty and a bad looser. I am the Phil Hellmuth of DbD and i am not proud of it, but it is the truth. I often blame someone or something (most time just in my mind but also sometimes through chat) why we lost the game. Nobody can answer that question for you. But here is my opinion about Clown

1.The better the Survivors, the worse Clown becomes. On Brown, Yellow and Green rank he is working very well, as a beginner i had some trouble against him but on purple or red, he is really weak. In most cases, he often gets genrushed, since his mappressure is zero and his chase potential vs good survivor is not amazing.

2.His perks are among the best. Bamboozle and Pop can be considere high and top tier.

3.Clowns playstyle is not for everyone and he is dependent on addons.

Do i like him? Kinda, but he is one of those killers i am prepared to loose the game when against good survivors.

Naturally. But if that's the case, those who can't play at a high level will derank to a place where they're more comfortable. That is the point of a ranking system, after all.

Then there is an overall problem with the ranking system, especially for survivors. The Skillgap between a bad rank 1 and a really good rank 1 is gigantic!

1 … 57 58 59 60 61 … 72
