  • I'm not sure. But yeah, I do hope that the command to "mend self" is always visible to players, regardless of whether you are running or not.

I've already played enough Legion games against less experienced players who don't realise they have to mend before getting on that gen or they're going to hit the dirt.

  • I'm not sure on the idea about increasing gen speeds for every Survivor that's hooked. Why would Killers ever feel incentivised to hook if doing your objective helps your opponent? Wouldn't more Killers choose to slug instead? Just seems like an unhealthy direction to push the game. Surely we want a game in which Killers play for hooks?

I also don't fully understand the tech perk idea. Don't these kinda already exist? (and nobody really runs them, anyway). Why would more of them be healthy for the game? I mean, what perk could be designed for me not to have to deal with Pinhead's stupid chain hunts or his evil Rubik's cube for example? There are lots of Killers I don't like facing that I might want to run a tech perk against. Obviously I can't bring something for every single one of them, so it's just a 1 in 38 chance that I get that specific Killer? I don't see the point in gambling a perk slot like that.

But I do agree that the Survivor role often feels like it does not value your time. Even games that were otherwise fun can leave a sour taste if the Killer decides to slug for the 4K and guarantee the hatch never spawns. I wish more Killers understood that Survivors need something to play on for as well. Slugging for the 4K can make the last 15-20 minutes feel like a waste of time. The Entity needs hope as well as despair in order to feed.

My point isn't that their opinion doesn't matter, but you have people complaining about things like Xeno being overtuned or too strong when in reality they just need to learn how to play against it. People get stuck with these ideas in their head and refuse to improve, and they blame the game, devs, etc. So in terms of BALANCING, no the less skilled players should not be listened to, they need to just learn. This is why misinformation is so rampant.

But you really do need to take into consideration differing skill levels. If feedback from beginner, low and even intermediate players is ignored by the devs, how many of them do you think will stick around long enough to really "learn" how to play the game?

Take a Killer like Legion. Most people would agree they are a strong Killer at low MMR, but they fall off very dramatically when the skill and knowledge of the Survivors they go up against increases. If BHVR decided to buff Legion, they would have to do it in a way that wouldn't negatively affect Survivors that are already struggling against this Killer. Because in a worst case scenerio, they might end up with a Killer that could win a few extra games at the upper MMR limits, but become unbearably oppressive at the bottom MMR bracket (where the most players are likely to be facing a Legion). So you make the experience a tiny bit better for a very small percentage of top level players at the expense of the vast majority of players playing your game. I think this is kind of where Trickster has landed. Still considered weak in tier lists, but nevertheless a horrible experience for most players to face.

So yes, if you want to create a fun game that could be enjoyed at all skill levels by as wide an audience as possible, you do need to consider what the entire player base thinks.

  • I hope they forget to "fix" it so that it no longer increases Legion's window vaulting speed. But if they do, it will obviously be the first step towards giving Legion base kit Frank's Mixtape and reworking that add-on to become a vault speed add-on. Right? Please tell me I'm right.

I like this perk since it can be a good alternative to Lightborn and I love to see a yellow bar / enjoy perks that do a bunch of things, but it's not often very impactful since the trial is basically over by the time you reach max stacks. I think it will most likely be a buff to the numbers. Maybe 6%?

  • I'm still grumpy about this to be honest.

Haven't spent a penny on the Switch version since cross progression came to the game and I feel so sorry for all the players that also have content trapped on the platform. Hopefully Switch 2 will be a better DBD experience for players if and when they upgrade.

I love Nintendo games but as a company, yeah not so much…

I really wish I could force myself to play with your rule, too, but I tend to play until I get one satisfying match. Last night I played until after 2 am to get that and it didn't really feel as satisfying as it could have been due to feeling so tired and exhausted from the many, many bad matches before that. Now it was a Friday fortunately but imagine me playing DbD when the next day is a weekday … forcing myself to play until 2 am and getting up at 6 am to go to work. That's just not healthy.

Event mode is terrible unless I play as killer. As survivor I only get teammates throwing snowballs and messing around and running dumb stuff like Scene Partner while killers are maximally sweaty with 150+ ping and addons like Tombstone.

I am even less interested in staying in one-sided matches in the event than I am in regular matches. So when the killer is trying to get everyone dead by camping and tunneling hard at five gens I just run up and stand still and try to get hooked to get out of the match. I do throw snowskulls at them and I don't expect/want them to become friendly and spare me, I really want out of the match, but they could at least throw one back before they kill me for the event vibe.

I've had two killers farming the event mode, but that's boring as well. When I play the event as killer I do throw snowskulls as I run after the survivors and I do patrol gens as snowman but in the end I play "normally" and chase and hook without farming. That there is absolutely not a single one out there like me who plays the event a bit differently is pretty sad.

I don't feel like I'm in any position to complain about "bad" teammates (especially not in the event mode, when I'm not taking things all that seriously and I do want to throw a couple snowballs at my teammates). I'm not good at Survivor. So long as everyone is still trying, I'll force myself to stay in a match for as long as I can. But my frustration level hits the limit real quick when the skill gap and sweat level of my team Vs my opponent is so cartoonishly wide. I just cannot continue playing after a certain point.

I do like to balance silly event stuff with playing a mostly normal game of DBD for the most part, but it feels like the rest of the lobby isn't often on the same page. Today I was getting hard tunnelled out at 4 gens by a back to the hook Wesker who had clearly only joined the event queue to try as hard as possible. So off the hook I run straight to a pile of snowballs to chuck in his face to see if I could maybe get him to leave me alone for a bit and so I could earn some BP from the party streamers I had brought. Nope! No dice. He paused for about three seconds before downing me again and dumping me out of the game. So yeah, that was the end of my Survivor games for the day. Fun.

  • I have a rule now. If I play 3 Survivor games and they're all terrible, I switch to Killer or I play another game. Guess how many Survivor games on average I'll play in a session?

If you said 3, well done you're right!

Not a single game I've played today on Survivor in the event mode has been fun or felt remotely winnable. It's not even worth playing for the BP since I'm getting 10,000 or less per game.

I wish they hadn't set the BP incentive to 100% because they failed to code an offering that worked the way it was supposed to. It's attracting players that are sweating hard, ignoring the event and just queuing up for the extra BP.

I'm also becoming more of a "Killer main" as time goes on. According to a stat tracking website, my time spent playing has shifted from 60% Survivor to around about 54% and I can only see that number going down in the near future.

  • Making up lore builds is one of my favourite things to do in DBD. I'm sure I've shared variants of these before elsewhere, but here are a few of the ones I've come up with:

    alanbuild.jpg

Alan Wake's build is themed around mechanics from his first game. A Flashlight is a must have, along with his perk Champion of Light to get max value from it. He also has Flashbang (a strong weapon also available in his game), Built to Last (to put fresh batteries into his Flashlight) and Dark Sense, which mimics the mechanic that alerts you to the presence of The Taken.

    ripleybuild.jpg

Ripley's build is themed around game mechanics found in Alien: Isolation. Diversion replicates the noisemakers that you can craft and use to make distractions, Premonition acts like the motion tracker, Urban Evasion (because you spend a lot of time crouching around) and of course she's the last surving crew member, so Sole Survivor is a must. A weak set of perks, so you really do feel vulnerable with this build and it can make the game feel quite scary again.

    ashbuild.jpg

Ash's build is Flip-Flop, Power Struggle, Soul Guard, Plot Twist and is themed around second chances and just being a tough old boot and a real pain in the backside to kill.

    stevebuild.jpg

Steve's build is Resilience, Babysitter, This Is Not Happening and Made For This and reflects his willingness to look out for his friends, take physical punishment and push through adversity. Bardic Inspiration is also a good choice if you fancy your chances and want to try and rizz the Killer for a cheeky hatch escape.

    legionlore.png

The final build is my Legion lore build. The build is Dark Devotion + Friends 'Til The End + Batteries Included + Fire Up. Add-ons are each member's own personal mixtape and the BFFs necklace. The build represents their high energy, cult like devotion to each other and escalating criminality.

  • I won't lie, I played real stinky to get my Legion adept.

This is part of the reason why I haven't adpeted any further Killers since. If you don't want to try hard for it, I would suggest playing until you eventually get matched with a weak enough team (it may take a while, but we all know how iffy the match making can be at times, so probably not as long as you think).

  • Well, I LOVE a scratched mirror Myers. So I guess there's your answer. Different people love and hate different things about the game.

I don't think most players load into a game with the intention to DC or go next. I suspect that usually comes after a string of bad experiences and they're simply fed up with the game at that point and should probably have stopped after the last game they played.

As some one who also plays Civ, the only reason why that game is balanced is because of heavy RNG, and the fact that most civs are just broken. Because if everything is overpowered... nothing is overpowered!

(that being said I do love Civ and Pokémon as well <3)

I haven't actually played a Civ game since the very first one on DOS.

I remember I once had a bronze age Phalanx unit fortified against modern battleships and jet fighters. They just could not take it down no matter how hard they tried (terrain modifiers or something?). Anyway, it was so funny.

"Play Pokémon for a more balanced game"

Chat, who is gonna tell him

I guess someone didn't wipe out the entire Elite 4 with just their starter Pokemon back in the OG Game Boy days…

Anyway, we all know the correct game to play instead of DBD is Civilization.

  • Any account you link to your Behaviour account is for keepsies and irreversible. So yeah, you won't be able to log out and your progress on both your Steam and PS5 accounts will be linked permanently.

But I think you'd eventually need to buy the game on PS5 if you want to keep playing the game on that platform (not totally sure how PS5 Plus works).

  • I main one of the least popular Killers to verse (Legion), so it's not so much about trying to make trials fun as it is to avoid play styles, perks and add-ons that are deemed "unfun". So that means bringing nothing that can grind the game to a halt, no Thanatophobia, no Dying Light and no Filthy Blade add-on. I've versed Legions that run these builds and it can be torture to see a gen progress bar move so slowly. Other than that, I have my own personal ruleset to follow:

    • I don't tunnel off hook, since I don't like it when Killers do so in my own Survivor games (I will however Frenzy off hook, but if I whiff I'll leave you to run away and get healed).
    • I don't usually count hooks. I tend to just chase who I find. But if I do remember hook states, then early death hook Survivors will usually be left alone until 2 gens remain.
    • The gloves come off from 2 gens remaining into the end game, as I might choose to ignore some of my rules. I think of trials like mini horror movies, so it's fun to ramp up the pressure and the tension, just like the antagonist in a horror movie would.
    • If I'm in the event queue, I always try to interact with event mechanics. One of my pet peeves is players joining the event queue but never interacting with the event at all. Please jump out of a snowman or throw a snowball at least once. It's all I ask.
    • I don't like farming games, but I can be tamed and if Survivors want to meme and goof around, then I'm happy to goof around too.
    • I try to play most of my Killer games with a casual mindset, but sometimes you just feel like killing everyone as quickly as possible and that's OK too (I like to play a saw only Billy with no slowdown. In these games, Survivors on the hook or on the ground are my slowdown!).

I could probably win a lot more trials by ruthlessly tunnelling off hook, slugging more and proxy camping, but then my wins would feel cheaper and my "reward" would be more squads on comms running stacked items and whatever the current Survivor meta perks are.

For me at least, the fun from DBD comes from a mutual gentleman's agreement for players to play "nice" and not stack the odds too far in their favour. This doesn't mean not playing to win, it means not trying to cheese your way to victory. Queensberry rules instead of a no holds barred street fight, if that makes any sense? Of course, you can't dictate how your opponents want to play but you can decide what energy you bring to a trial. It's easy to tell when a Killer is playing more casually and those trials are usually the most fun for me. Overall, I don't see DBD as super competitive. It's like horror Smash Bros to me (i.e. A casual game that can be played super competitively but isn't really designed to be played that way).

It is not turned off. I have killers that I purposely keep low MMR that get low hour noobs and my main killers get high hour swfs.

Of course it's still trying to find a good match, but past a certain point it "turns off" in the sense that it stops trying to find a suitable match for you once a certain amount of time has elapsed and can match you with anyone. That's my understanding anyway.

Please send some of those low hour noobs my way for when I play the Killers that I hardly ever touch, because the ones I get aren't so much different than the ones I get for my main. Not that I trust playtime these days, what with cross progression being a thing now.

  • I can only go by my own personal impressions (since I don't really know for sure), but as someone who plays on both PC and Switch, I feel like I get the exact same level of opponent on both platforms. The only real "evidence" I can point at to support this is the fact that I get the exact same BP incentives on both platforms.

So I think your friends are wrong and MMR is shared across all platforms.

That said, I think there's an argument to say it should be different. I can still play Survivor on Switch because I have an admittedly worse than average Survivor escape rate and even if I can't loop as well, I can still change my build and strategy to be more stealthy and do just as well. But my Killer games on Switch are a struggle. I honestly haven't won a single Killer game on Switch since enabling cross progression and I sometimes wish I hadn't.

  • Personally, I'd take a mori over the same hook sacrifice animation that I've seen over a thousand times already. I'm even kinda disappointed if they choose to hook me when I'm the last Survivor left.

Killers that slug for it are a frustration, but hooked or Mori'd you're still dead either way, so what really is the difference? The ability to skip all death animations might be a neat quality of life feature though, so players can go next a little quicker if they wish to.

  • Is the new GTA really coming out soon? I'm not a fan of the series, so I genuinely don't know.

I kinda expected to be reading the next Song of Ice and Fire book before GTA 6 was released, it's been in development for that long. I mean, Nintendo even made two giant open world Zelda games within the same development period.

While I'm sure most games will take a player count hit when it finally drops, it probably won't be a huge one for DBD.

  • My main goal is the get my first P100. My Legion is closer (P37) so I'll probably focus on them first, but Meg is not far behind at P30.

Other than that, maybe try to finally achieve an Iri 1 rank as Survivor. I would probably have to dedicate the entire month to just playing Survivor games and I'm Solo Q only, so it may very well send me round the twist trying to get it done.

  • It's definitely a good thing to have other games to play alongside DBD. The spell that it held over me has kinda broken this year. It's still joined a handful of games that I think I'll probably play forever (Tetris, Street Fighter and the Sid Meier's Pirates! remake, if you're wondering), but I'm no longer completely obsessed with it.

I guess I got to around 1000 hours and felt my skills plateau. It's like my brain is saying to me "OK, you've had enough now son" and refuses to learn anything further about this game. So I mostly just come back to play events with the goal to complete tomes and to P100 my Meg and Legion, since I've unlocked pretty much everything else I'm interested in. I certainly have a healthier relationship with the game now.

    @Skillfulstone

Events don't increase/decrease your MMR score but it is still used for match making. When queues are long you will see a broader range in skill level. So it can feel like SBMM is turned off.

They don't, but when the queues are long for one side (and likewise instant for the other), it doesn't just "feel" like SBMM is turned off, it really is turned off.

I've had some of the most miserable DBD games of my life playing the event mode today. Just nothing but the strongest builds and Killers back to back. I do not escape often enough to justify facing Killers like this. I somehow even went up against a 12,000 hour Deathslinger in Japan that probably had more hours in the game than my entire lobby (I'm on the UK servers). I've also had Survivors in my Killer games that were either way above my skill level or way below. So yeah, SBMMR is not working today.

  • Quality of life wise, 2024 has been a good year for seeing most of the things I want to see come to the game. I think the game is in a pretty good spot right now and a huge improvement over how it was even 2 years ago when I first started playing. But I can still think of a few improvements to be made in 2025:

    • Shared item/add-on/offering inventories across all unlocked Survivors (Since they are all the same from a game play and MMR perspective).
    • More perk and cosmetic load outs. Three per character is not enough and it can take a long time to find perks on console without a keyboard.
    • More generous BP gains for the Survivor side. Even my lost Killer games typically have double the BP reward.
    • A solution to excessive hiding / slugging for the 4K when only 2 Survivors remain. Killers trying to Slug all 4 Survivors isn't that common in my experience, but if it really is becoming more a problem, that may need looking at as well.
    • Better optimisation for the older and less powerful platforms. I've already seen improvements on Switch with the change to Unreal 5, but it's not quite there yet.

As far as content is concerned, something from my personal wishlist (Gremlins, Ghostbusters, Jurassic Park, More Evil Dead stuff, Stranger Things Part 2 with Robin as Survivor). Failing that, some honest and unambiguous Horror content. I'm not holding my breath though, given that we already know that at least one big 2025 chapter will be FNAF.

I'd like to see some of the better ideas from mobile come to the core game. I watched Hens's video on it and they had some nice features like the Bloodmarket (to sell unwanted inventory), a reworked Daily Ritual System with Iri shards possible to be earned and a button for looking behind you while playing Survivor. I'd love to see some of the mobile cosmetics make the main game as well.

I'd also like to see Legion join 2 Vs 8 when it returns (with a solution for better queue times!). And maybe a few small Legion buffs as well as Frank's Mixtape to be made base-kit and reworked to become a vault speed add-on. Maybe it could be a flat 20% extra speed or if that's too strong, token based like their BFFs add-on (1% extra speed per frenzy hit, up to a max of 20%).

Edit: Oh, and please fix the scratch marks BHVR. They're still not right…

  • You say that like Resilience and Botany aren't two of the strongest Survivor perks in the game. Resi is one of the best all round utility perks to run and a couple of Botanys can reset a team incredibly quickly. It's a fantastic team perk.

It's true that Resi will only shave 2 seconds off your self heal time tho, so you could always run a dedicated gen perk or something else instead if you don't rate it highly.

I like Plot Twist, but I find all the other self healing perks to have significant down sides or way too many extra steps to activate.

I could, but to be honest I very rarely bring items into a trial. Killers that bring Franklin's make me grumpy, so no item = no problem.

  • @AlexXHunter44 said:

I never understand when people say they want to play chill.

So as killer am I supposed to just not chase you when I see you? Not defend gens? What?

As survivor am I not supposed to loop you and just run in a circle while letting you down me?

I get it more I'm side modes that have something to offer, but throwing snowballs gets boring after the first 2-3 times and the snowmen are useless to hide in. So what should we be doing if not playing the game?

If you don't enjoy snowball fights and making snowman plays, then there's still the regular queue for you. This is the reason why they split the queues and why a win or a loss doesn't impact your MMR, so that those of us who enjoy interacting with the event stuff can fully enjoy it and those who don't can just play the regular normal mode.

If I'm playing the Event, I honestly don't care if I win or lose (and I've been losing a lot). Sure, I mostly still play the game normally (unless the others want a snowball fight), but I also expect players who queue up to "waste time" throwing snowballs and hiding in snowmen because that's the whole point of it.

I will never understand the part of the DBD community that treats every event just like it's the regular game.

  • Totally agree with all of these suggestion except the one for more snowmen. Especially the one to see snow pile auras. It can be tricky to find them on the indoor maps.

There are plenty of snowmen in the trial already and besides that, I don't think my Nintendo Switch could handle it.

  • Nope, it's not just you. I have the same issue whenever I play on PC. First game always has a few moments where the game freezes (in the first couple of minutes) and then everything runs just fine. It's weird and I have no idea what might be causing it or if it even counts as a bug, but it is a little bit annoying.

The game in general takes a lot longer to boot up from the desktop than it used to as well. I wonder if they know about this and they're still ironing out a few lingering bugs from the move to Unreal 5.

I’m a huge fan of being the change you want to see. The above people have demonstrated a willingness to be that change while remaining their authentic selves. I see Dbd reflected in every single person listed and on this forum. These people will give you the best that they have to offer. Why not match that passion and be the change you want the dbd community to become? Why not? It can happen. They can help you get there.

I wanted to thank @For_The_People for being the first person from the forums that I’ve ever played Dbd with. He is a very sweet person who will give you his time of day in earnest if you need him to. He’s one of the prime examples of politeness in this community. Thank you for being a positive force in the community. 😊😊😊

Lastly I need to thank @solarjin1 . What can I say? When you meet a friend that gets you, you both just know it. Her courage to be funny and humorous are so infectious. She told me that the small pallet in rpd was the most op pallet. I was so naive of game knowledge that I believed her! LMAO! After that I realized that it was anything goes when it came to humor with her. I’m at my best when I can be silly. Solarjin1 is that friend who brings out the best in me. Thank you Solarjin1 for all the laughs and for the laughs to come 😂 I’m going to be collecting🤣🤣🤣

None of this would be possible if we didn’t have a phenomenal community team here to support us discussing this twisted hobby we all have. Thank you again to everyone at Bhvr for putting your hearts and souls (ha!) into everything that is Dbd.

They say you attract more flies with honey than with vinegar…

Let’s just use blood instead 🩸😈🩸

Happy Holidays everyone, I hope everyone stays safe and has a wonderful New Years 😊🎉

Aww, thank you! That's such a lovely thing to say.

Spend those well earned Auric Cells wisely, you guys.

I hope everyone here enjoys plenty of fun snowskull fights and snowman jump scares for the rest of the festive period. Appreciate all of you. After all, even if we don't always agree as a community, we're all here because we love this game and we want the best for it.

  • I'm a huge advocate of the Self-Care, Botany, Resilience combo. It's only 4 seconds slower than self healing with a med-kit and basically gives you an infinite med-kit that the Killer can't ever knock out of your hands.

it’s some DLC/chapter Codes as well as some (christmas) cosmetics as far as i have seen

That actually does sound like they're giving away some worthwhile freebies.

OK, so I joined up and frankly, I find Discord to be kind of a bewildering website to use and I'm way too old to care about learning a new thing. So I don't know how to find my way around but yeah, I think they are one time use first come first serve codes and I'm not even sure if they'll be issuing any more.

So probably not worth signing up to Discord for to be honest (I'm deleting my account after today).

Update: Saw Mandy share a code for a Krampus Trapper skin, so they are still issuing new codes. I'm not going to stick around to try claiming any, but if anyone else wants to try it might be worth it.

  • So why do I have to join Discord to get these?

It's bad enough that I had to open a Twitch account and now I have to join Discord as well? (I really miss the Switch only codes for Twitch drops).

Someone please tell us what they are so I can decide if I want to pass on them or not. If it's just more banners and badges then I can live without those.

  • Honestly, I don't really see a lot of toxicity (at least not as much as some players report). Yes, I've experienced my fair share of teabags, GG EZs and slugging to bleed out Killers, but it's maybe no more than 1 in 10 games that something "toxic" ever happens.

That said, I play on anon mode to keep my Steam profile private and the end game chat window closed most of the time, which probably cuts down my exposure to some of the toxicity. End game chat in my experience is 5% wholesome, 5% players being salty / angry / poor sports and 90% silence.

  • I've definitely been getting regular Ormond more often. So yeah, the realm probably is boosted and I'm just getting unlucky.

Oh well, it's not my favourite Killer map, but at least it's wintery, home turf for my main and a decent enough map for Billy, so it's not all bad.

  • To be honest, I think this is an unworkable idea. Not only would it add more time to the process of queuing up for a trial, it's also not very fair.

Not unless the Survivors also knew which Killer they would be going up against. It's way too strong for the Killer side since they could guarantee a ban for any perk that specifically counters them (even fairly uncommon ones like Iron Will Vs a Spirit). For example, as a Legion I might choose to ban Resilience, Sprint Burst and Made For This in all my games. As Survivor, I might choose to ban Sloppy Butcher if I knew my opponent was a Dredge, but since I'll never know who my opponent is, I could easily end up wasting my ban on something that my opponent would probably never choose. Also, any trial where the Survivors want to ban Lightborn, I'm dodging that lobby as that's my comfort perk.

I don't see how there could ever be a way to make this system fair.

No. But it does grind my gears a little that killers are given 100% of the blame for 'slug for 4k' scenarios when the hiding survivor is just as responsible for continuing the stalemate.

I'll also happily admit that people gloating that they got hatch/gate makes me less likely to give other survivors hatch/gate for the rest of the day. I'd rather be whinged at by sore losers than gloated at by a sore winner.

If the Killer is camping the slug, they can at any time end the stalemate by hooking the slug (and maybe also spawning the hatch), but they're actively choosing not to. Meanwhile, the other Survivor can either hide for hatch and wait for the slug to bleed out or give themselves up and… die, I guess? Neither of those are great choices, but the reality is that the Killer is the one who's put the Survivor in this position. Survivors are, you know, meant to try to survive. That's their goal.

If you honestly think the actions of both the Survivor and Killer are the same here, then I don't know what to say.

  • That's kind of a shame. I never got to play it because my mobile is too ancient for games, but I read they had some pretty neat ideas (like more emotes and Killer bots to practice against).

Also, please tell me we'll see some of the cooler mobile skins and moris make it into the main game so they won't be lost forever…

  • I won't pretend to be a Chucky main or even to be all that skilled with him, but he is a Killer I enjoy playing and he doesn't feel all that different than before the nerf…

I'd say he still feels stronger than before the removal of his Scamper (imho, the "nerf" that wasn't really a nerf. They just raised his skill floor a little and ironically made him an even more powerful Killer in skilled hands).

Some sort of teleportation would be awesome. They messed with terror radiuses more often in the past. Pig and deaths linger used to have them different

This was the number 1 thing I was hoping we might get from the Myers update. But I guess it would have been a lot of extra work for a character that I imagine most players already own. I think maybe it should only work in tier 1, though (I'm kinda tired that the new Killers have so many strings to their bows but barely any weaknesses). I mostly just want something to help make tier 1 viable, because it's so difficult to get any value from tier 1 against experienced Survivors without a specific map offering and some lucky RNG.

(but in the end, what we got was mostly a numbers tweak).

  • These event queues don't work because they make the already iffy match making somehow ever worse, queues for both modes become much longer and to top it off, players are forced to join the event queue even if they don't want to because it's the only way to earn cosmetics and complete the tome. They way they've approached it is a combo of the worst of all worlds.

It's probably fine to keep splitting queues for modifiers, but I think for the big seasonal events they should just go back one single queue for everybody. It was worth a try to keep both kinds of players happy but it's not really worked out.

I love little details like this. It looks so pretty.

  • My personal beef is with the entire concept of map offerings. There's no "fixing" them, I simply don't think they should be in the game at all. And I don't think the achievement hunter arguement holds much water either, since why not just get those acheievments through ordinary play? Sure, it might take a bit longer but so what? It's meant to be an achievement, they're not all meant to be easy to get.

So I'm currently happy with the solution they've implemented (to make sac wards a brown offering and therefore more plentyful). It's a fair compromise. Not everyone cares about maps offerings, so not every opponent will burn a sac ward before a trial and so players should get their maps more often than not and I won't have to deal with this annoyance so often.

  • Personally, I like the moving snowmen. They add a bit of extra chaos into the mix which I find leads to some funny moments. Then again, I never take these event / modifier modes all that seriously and lose most of my trials because I'm too busy wasting time interacting with the snow skulls and snowmen, but I can see them being annoying to some people.

I do wish bot snowmen had a smoother movement animation, though. It's VERY easy to tell the bots apart from those that have an actual player inside, so more observant players will definitely know you're in there.

  • I wish the offering would stack for everyone like party streamers do. There's no reason to be so stingy with a free in game currency that can't even be used to buy cosmetics with. I don't know if the offerings are bugged, but my BP gains have scarcely been better than for a typical trial (and often worse, since I'm not burning a pudding / cake offering).

It's a curious design choice. Almost as if they want less people to be playing or joining in with the event mechanics.

  • Glad to hear it.

I hate Fandom wikis with a passion, mostly because they direct traffic away from all of the actually useful wikis with their better SEO ranking.

  • I find it best to always have a snowball or two at all times so you can destroy a pesky snowman if it gets in your way.

I'm really enjoying the event so far. But it's not as fun as the Halloween event, since the snowballs and snowmen aren't all that game changing. The only downside for me is the usual splitting of the queues impacting my queue times (with some long waits for my Survivor games).

  • I've had some fun snowball fights already but yeah, it's just luck of the draw whether or not you get players in your lobby that want to play a relatively chill match and mess around with the event stuff.

I think part of the problem is that BHVR have split the queues into two again, but undermined the main point of doing so by locking all the cool cosmetics behind actually participating in the event. So even players that don't want to queue up for snowball fights and being a sneaky snowman are forced to join the event queue because that's the only way to earn all the new goodies.

  • I've been away for a few weeks but boy does it feel good to come back to good news like this.

As a map offering hater, all I can say is that I'm absolutely delighted by this change. This is nothing but a quality of life improvement. Getting sent to your opponent's favoured map always puts me in a bad mood, so being able to burn sac wards more often will eliminate yet another source of frustration for me. Previously, I could easily exhaust my supply of sac wards in just a single play session.

I'd rather let the entity choose our map regardless of what side I'm playing as (though exceptions can be made for a scratched mirror Myers or burning the Haddonfield offering on Halloween).

I suppose you could say this is kind of a shadow nerf to swfs, since swfs have 2, 3 or 4 times as many potential map offerings to burn, but I don't see why anyone else should really care about this change.

  • Trouble is, the thing that you want to do, which is to join a few other Survivors to pop the last gen, is liable to get you killed in this mode. If more than one player gets on a gen, Killers get intel on where you are. In the late game, some might already be dead or on death hook, so Survivors can be understandably reluctant to give away their position.

I've been able to pop the last gen by myself a couple of times before, but if I see anyone coming to help me they better be Guide class or I'm out of there!

  • I thought of a similar idea but with BP earned instead of escapes. Maybe something like 100K BP earned in 2 Vs 8 Survivor (not including any incentive) will earn you 1 priority offering which is then burned on use. That's probably about 4 - 6 Survivor games for most players. Make it 75K if 100K is too high (BHVR will know what the average Survivor earns in a 2 Vs 8 match and could base it off that).

Anything that might lessen Killer queue times would be worth trying at this point. I honestly haven't even bothered to queue for Killer this time around. I've already had my fill of Survivor matches, but I'd definitely queue up again if it meant by playing I could jump ahead in the Killer queue.

  • I had some bad experiences when I first started playing Killer because I very quickly found myself going up against bully squads without the experience or knowledge to deal with them.

I still have a little bit of locker PTSD from a game on Lery's and a head on bunny Feng duo on Dead Dog that kept jumping out of those two lockers near the gen in the Saloon. In truth, the only way for the frustration and stress to fully fall away is to keep playing Killer.

I'm so unflappable now, it's gotten to the point where Killer is the role I play whenever I want to chill. In any case, here are a few of the things that have helped me to keep my cool:

    • Lightborn and Iron Grasp never leave my build. Are there "better" perks to run in most trials? Sure. But these two perks will shutdown almost all of the typical bully squad tactics. There is no body blocking the hook, sabotaging, boil over plays or flashlight saves when you have these perks equipped. Most of the time, I find bully squads / duos to be allergic to doing the gens and will start throwing as soon as they realise they won't be able to torture you indefinitely.
    • Never go to the exit gates after a frustrating trial. If they want to do their little victory dance, it doesn't mean you have to come along to watch them.
    • Play Killers that you know you'll enjoy, regardless of the outcome of the match. For me, that's the simple joys of vaulting pallets and windows as a speedy Legion, getting curve downs and drifting around the map as Billy, seeing a well placed Trapper trap get value or pulling Survivors off gens as a sneaky Michael. I think it's better to focus more on the little wins and the fun you're having with your Killer powers and less on whether or not you're winning or losing (this is easier said than done if you're a more competitive player, but always worth bearing in mind).
    • I keep my chat window permanently closed. I've had some nice interactions with other players in the past, but not enough to fully outweigh the not so nice ones.
    • I like to vary my time between Killer and Survivor if I ever find myself becoming frustrated with either role. Playing lots of different Killers in a session helps with this as well.
    • Anon mode is your friend.

The main thing is to remember that it will take time to feel comfortable with playing the Killer role. Maybe more time for you than it might do for others and that's OK. So take small steps if you have to. Everyone feels the stress (and maybe some nerves) when they first play Killer.

Anyway, I hope some of this advice will be helpful to you.

P.S. I've also struggled with anxiety for pretty much my whole life, so a lot of what you've experienced is very familiar to me. But over the years I've learned these feelings can be overcome (or at least managed) and at the end of the day, DBD is just a silly video game. It's not so important in the grand scheme of things.

  • Perhaps there will be new section in the store for old rift skins to be brought back permanently?

Personally, I'm hoping for the Freshman in Waiting skin to come to the store for Meg 🤞. She's my main but I'm not too crazy about a lot of her skins and it's definitely one of her better ones.
