  • I don't think we'll ever get the real Freddy so long as bargain basement remake Freddy is in the game : (

I don't know if getting Wes Craven's creations into the game is just exceptionally difficult or something, but I guess it's better than nothing that we have the Freddy and Ghostface that we do have.

  • Although I haven't enjoyed the mode as much this time, I do have some suggestions I would like to see in future versions of 2 Vs 8:

    • Revert the change to the cage relocation logic. Static cages when another Survivor is nearby replicates frustrations from 1 Vs 4, allowing Killers to simply follow and harass any Survivors going in for a save and deny an unhook by preventing the cage from moving to a new location away from the Killer.
    • All Survivor classes should to have the ability to self care on death hook again.
    • The new Killer classes encourage Killers to stick to each other like glue in order to get value from their effects. This results in Survivors being frequently tag teamed and quickly downed and doesn't make for very engaging chases. Ideally, Killers should be splitting up to pressure different parts of the map but still have the opportunity to work together to pressure areas of high Survivor activity when necessary.
    • This suggestion might be a little controversial, considering the hate that Distortion seems to get from some in the DBD player base, but I think the Scout should have some kind of aura hiding for their active ability. Something like hide the aura of yourself and all other Survivors within 16 meters for 8 seconds (not sure on the numbers but hopefully the idea is clear). This would help the Scout to stay hidden while scoping out the Killer's locations to reveal them to the team. The Escapist class should instead be given the pallet rebuilding ability as it better fits their theme.
    • Revealing a Killer's aura should notify Scouts with a small BP reward (say 50 or 100 BP) each time they reveal a Killer to the team. Sometimes it can be hard to know if your ability to reveal the Killer is actually working or not.
    • I agree with others that the comeback mechanics need to be reviewed and the Guide class nerfed, but have no suggestions on how they should be altered.
    • I'm not sure that Billy should have been given his instadown saw back. I would like to see buffs to his turn rate and lo pro chains instead.
  • Thank you for this. Somehow I had totally forgotten that you can read auras with a key.

Major disagree Survivors definitely won this iteration

I'm just telling you what my experience is, which is that Killers are dominating in the majority of my matches now. Over the last few days, only the most dedicated and ruthless Killers still seem willing to sit in such long queues. Casual players who completed the tome are already back playing 1 Vs 4. I know I've definitely tapped out.

  • I don't know how your games have been going, but in my experience 2 Vs 8 is a total sweatfest. Worse even than the main game.

I did enjoy the first iteration a lot more than this second one, but to be honest I've come to the conclusion that this game mode is a bit of a failed experiment. They don't seem to have found a way to bring the Killer queue times down or to make the games feel anything other than completely one sided. Aside from playing a few Killer games as Legion, I'm not really looking forward to playing future versions of 2 Vs 8. I have a feeling I'm in a minority though and that's fine.

Chaos Shuffle is still the best time limited game mode they've ever done, imho.

  • 2 Vs 8 has already become sweatier than the main mode. Very extreme, with mostly one sided stomps in favour of one side or the other. I would definitely say it's Killer sided if the Killers actually know what they're doing and are willing to play dirty and rush as fast as they can to wherever the cages spawn.

I know the mode is fun for Killers so long as you're decent at the role, but I'm not queuing for 15 minutes to get a game.

Personally, I'm already done with it and I'll only be returning to do the second page of the tome.

  • I hope they make the cages move again in a future iteration. They should never have changed it in the first place.

  • I would LOVE to go zoomies across the map with another one of my Legion buddies, but I don't think BHVR will ever do it. They're not exactly a universally loved Killer among most Survivors…

Well maybe they might do it, but only for an april fools joke like My Little Oni.

This mode exactly points out why we cannot have a 50% winrate on average both sides. This feels as bad as back when we DID have that. It's never going back to 50%. We all need to let that go. :(

This mode this time around is too Survivor-sided, and it didn't need to be. All they should have touched was the stomp to hook thing and being able to flashlight save, my games unironically felt better first time around than here. The rest needed no changes. We did not need Killer classes. We didn't need the buffs to be this strong. Rebuilding pallets as Scout is too strong when there's this many; Guide outclasses and overrides the comeback mechanic and should not be there at all. And there is nothing the Killers can do except tunnel people out with highly mobile Killers when Survs can bring FOUR Guides at once and stack on gen clusters this hard.

Survivors are overbuffed, and Killers have been given weird nerfs like only seeing so many gens in one radius for no reason. If this is how they are testing new concepts or ideas, they are failures, never come back to them again.

Well, I spent all my 2 Vs 8 games yesterday dying along with all my other teammates. I only escaped once through a lucky hatch escape.

Personally, if my escape rate for 2 Vs 8 is no better than the one I have for 1 Vs 4, I may as well play 1 Vs 4. At least I can face a bigger variety of Killers and use a bunch of different builds in 1 Vs 4.

It might be different if they add more Survivor classes and Killers in the future, but right now there's currently not enough reason for Survivors to keep playing 2 Vs 8 if it feels just as sweaty as playing the regular mode (or even sweatier, with all the buffed up Blights/Billys/Spirits and Nurses around).

  • You are correct, sadly there's no ability to pip in 2 Vs 8. I hope that's something we see added to the mode in future, because it would make pipping up on Survivor a lot easier (I've actually never hit Iri 1 as Survivor, despite playing more Survivor than Killer).

  • I think they have to implement a queue system where everyone picks their preferred Killer and Survivor roles, then the Entity randomly assigns the Killer roles to 2 of the 10 players queuing.

I know that means the chance of actually being Killer in a trial will be lower, but it's really the only way I can see the queue times coming down at all. If they can't solve the queue times, I don't think there's much of a future for the mode and it definitely couldn't become permanent.

  • @malloymk said:

I think this mode should be more casual and survivor sided.

Personally, I think BHVR should aim for a 50% win rate on average for both sides, with most trials seeing half dead and half escape. For a fun, fast paced quick hit of DBD, I think that would be the healthiest approach for the mode. How they get there I couldn't tell you, but overall I think the first iteration will probably turn out to have been more balanced than this new one.

  • Ooof.

Well, for all the talk of the mode being "Survivor sided", today has been absolutely brutal so far. Survivors are dropping like flies (mostly because they're getting tag teamed by the ranged / high mobility Killers) and you spend most of the time rescuing teammates from cages and healing up. It's even sweatier than the regular mode for me right now with all the Blights, Billys and Spirits I've been seeing.

My guess is that more casual Killers have already abandoned the mode and to be honest, I don't blame them. Who wants to queue for 15 minutes only to see the gens flying and all 8 out the door?

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted but I think I'm done with the mode for now. Unsurprisingly, getting dunked on by two top tier Killers is not all that much fun.

  • I can't comment on how it feels to play Killer (I'm not waiting in those 20 minute queues!), but I will say I've been able to escape more times in one day of 2 Vs 8 than I might in a whole week of playing regular DBD.

I've definitely noticed a big difference in the skill of my Killers during the day verses those playing late at night. In the day, they seem overall to be much less experienced (or at least less experienced with their choice of Killer) but in the evening the opposite appears to be true, with Killers queuing up to play as their mains. Both tend to result in very one sided affairs, with either an overwhelming Survivor or Killer win.

On the plus side, with the faster gen speeds this time around, I've actually been able to play the role of the scout much more often. I've had fun sneaking around to reveal Killer auras to my teams, doing saves and rebuilding pallets, only soloing the odd gen here and there (Unless you are the Guide class there's little point in doubling or tripling gens, since it's risky to show the Killers exactly where you are).

2 Vs 8 is still very fun, but I'm a little bit worried BHVR might ultimately over complicate what should be a simple arcade style game mode. And I do think they need to do something about these Killer queue times if the mode is to have a future. 20 minutes queues are unsustainable. Maybe it should just find 10 players, ask them to choose their preferred Killer and Survivor role, then assign the Killer role to two random players in the queue.

  • @Nazzzak said:

There's probably a good chance they've completely dropped SBMM this time around because of the queue times. They'll also give crazy good bp incentives imo to play 2v8. I'm going to give it a shot like I did last time. I wasn't a big fan of it but we'll see this time. I have a backlog of other games I need to get through if I don't enjoy myself.

You think there was MMR in the last version? It didn't seem to be activated to me because I got some pretty new Killers and Survivors in a lot of my games. I was even able to max out my boldness points in a few trials by looping the Killers (this almost never happens in my regular games).

Towards the end of the event the mode started to feel a lot sweatier though. It stopped being so fun after the strategy of double teaming Survivors emerged and there was nothing you could really do against that.

  • I have a feeling I'll prefer the first version of the mode, but I guess I'll find out tomorrow. I'm still happy about it returning but I do have some misgivings:

    • I'm not too thrilled to see Blight and Spirit added to 2 Vs 8, especially in a buffed form. Two very strong Killers that I struggle to play against.
    • I might be on my own with this one, but I don't think Billy needs his instadown saw back. I felt like I did pretty well with him last time in the few games that I was able to queue for.
    • Why no unlockable self-care for all Survivor classes this time? I don't understand the rational behind this change at all.
    • Now that the cages no longer move if another Survivor is near, what's to stop Killers downing any Survivors going for saves by the cages, then camping the caged Survivor who now cannot be respawned elsewhere? Maybe this won't happen much in the actual trails, but I think this (plus the ability to flashlight and pallet save) could lead to Killers camping and slugging more often, which is a backwards step in my opinion.
    • I really, really hope the Killer queues are much better this time around. That's the number 1 change I'd like to see for version 2.
    • Can we pip in 2 Vs 8 this time around? I really hope so…
  • @AhoyWolf said:

With the new buff to Chests in the Patch 8.4.0 which makes them open in only 8 seconds instead of the previous 10 seconds, to get the fastest Chest opening speed you need:

    Pharmacy: +100%

    Spine Chill: +6%

A teammate with Leader: +25% (can only stack this once)

A teammate with Better than New: +16% (not sure if this Perk stacks so I'm gonna assume it does not)

    1 + 0.06 + 0.25 + 0.16 = 1.56 (156%)

    1.56 + 1 = 2.56 (256%)

    8 / 2.56 = 3.125

So if my math isn't a complete tragedy, the fastest unlocking speed of a Chest you can achieve in a game is 3.125 seconds!

Don't forget about Resilience! How much faster would it be if you also had that?

  • I've been playing since I was 7 years old. I'm almost 40 now but I expect to be playing games in one form or another until a ripe old age. Maybe not the same kinds of games, but I think I'll still be playing. It feels like a totally normal hobby to me.

I think in the future, playing video games well into your 70's and 80's will be viewed like two old fellas playing chess in the park is today. Nobody will bat an eyelid to it.

  • @PetTheDoggo said:

So right now I have a bonus. 25% on survivors, which didn't seem right to me, so I did some testing.

My queue times on killers: 18-25 seconds (tried 5 times)
My queue time when I tried survivor (soloQ): 3 minutes 18 seconds

Like really, this is clearly not working, how have you managed to break this devs?

Yeah, my Killer queues are pretty much instant just like they used to be when the 100% bonus was in effect. My Survivor queues take significantly longer, despite there being a 25% bonus (I assume my queues are longer partly because I'm a Solo and lots of SWFs play in the evenings). It's very weird, but I think BHVR said they were investigating.

  • My experiences are similar. I get 25% or 50% on Survivor most of the time and I've not seen a 100% bonus (or any bonus) on Killer for quite a while. I'm missing it because Legion is how I do all my farming for BP :(

I guess this means the queues are relatively balanced right now, with lots of new players from the Halloween period?

  • Do 4 man teams like this even have fun playing in this way?

I mean yeah, once you are out of beginner Killer MMR of course you need to bring some kind of gen regression or slowdown to remain competitive. But other than that, I'm not sure what else this video is meant to prove. Except perhaps to demonstrate that DBD is obviously balanced around a mostly casual player base and the expectation that both sides probably won't be playing the game like they're competing in an esports tournament.

Most of the time, I find full slowdown builds to be overkill and frankly, I don't see why anyone would want to be at an MMR where they are necessary.

  • Honestly, I'm not sure I like this perk at all.

I already know I will never see it in any of my SoloQ games (I can't even get a heal from some of my teammates, nevermind a hook state), where it would be the most useful.

And I'm sure SWFs will use it to deny late / endgame kills in lots of my Killer games. I like to think I play fair for most of the trial, but I will sometimes camp and tunnel to secure Kills toward the end of a trial when there are only 1 or 2 gens left. I don't think Killers should be punished for that. Anti tunnel perks should only really be for countering early game hard tunnelling, imho.

  • I think the feedback loop of tryhards on both sides attempting to one up each other is killing the enjoyment of the game for the majority of players in what is probably a fairly casual player base. No, it's not supposed to be easy to Survive, but it's also not supposed to be impossible either (and the latter is how my Survivor games have been feeling recently).

So sure, camp, tunnel, slug, bring the strongest builds for the strongest Killers you can think of to every trial. Just realise that 95% of your opponents will fold like a deck chair and have a real miserable time facing you. I honestly don't think this game is designed around ultra competitive play.

  • I really enjoyed this event when both sides have wasted time going in and out of the void as often as possible to load up on haunts and void bombs. But the event doesn't really work if only a few players are interested in doing so, because you are essentially throwing the game for your side by doing event stuff. I've played a few Killer games where the Survivors gen rushed only to go into the void at the very end of the game (presumably to complete challenges). I've played Survivor games with Killers that only ever entered the void to find Survivors, because you are such an easy target in there. Totally pointless.

Consequently, I've only played the regular queue for the last few days. It feels bad when you still want to mess about doing event stuff, but other players in the lobby have different ideas. Since I've already completed the tome and bought all the cosmetics and few players bother at all with event stuff anymore, there's no point in joining the event queue for me. Kinda sad, really.

I think some players are joining the event queue knowing they will get easy wins (because their opponent might be preoccupied with event stuff) or to join the faster queues and for no other reason. The BP gains certainly aren't worth queuing for unless you really join in.

  • My main is Legion. I don't have any super exciting tips but here are a few basic ones that some players might not know about:

You can pick Survivors up in Frenzy. So if you hit someone through a window or over a pallet, you can use your power to quickly vault over to pick them up and save a little bit of extra time.

The Unknown perk Unbound can be lots of fun on Legion. It's a slept on perk for them, imho. Should have been a Legion perk, really.

There is of course the "Legion tech". This means letting a Survivor blind you to get you out of your power, so you can immediately basic attack them without going through the fatigue animation. This is usually pulled off at a pallet, but I've managed it at the exit gates for a funny "just leave" moment. I once had someone blind me as I ran into the gates at Midwich, which allowed me to knock down an injured Bill and carry him away for a last moment kill. He was so unhappy about this he DCed.

Don't always be a "hit and run" Legion when in Frenzy. Lots of Survivors will expect you to leave and start mending, so mix it up and cancel your power to return to knock them down sometimes. This can be very effective, especially if you know they can't make it to safety. Be unpredictable.

Lots of prominent content creators don't rate Julie's mixtape very highly or think of it as an add-on for beginners, but I think it's one of their best. I pair it with the Iri button and Enduring to break pallets and give Legion some anti-loop chase abilities. I honestly think this is one of their strongest add-on combos. It makes getting smacked in the face with a pallet fun and is by far my favourite way to play them, because you never have to respect a pallet (unless you are chaining hits). You want Survivors to stun you in Frenzy with this build to use up pallets and I find most Survivors will happily oblige.

The last one is super, super niche and only for the event. Legion can vault from the top floor of the void onto the little platform below. I think other Killers have to swing around with a basic attack hit, but Legion can vault, get a Frenzy hit, then leave the rift to continue the Frenzy. It's lots of fun if you can pull it off. This is mostly what I do to kill time in the void whenever I'm getting dunked on, though.

    voidvault.jpg
  • I personally like the finisher mori. And I think Killers will continue to slug for the 4K regardless of its presence in the game.

I don't see a problem with giving both of the last two Survivors base-kit UB. If Survivors can pick themselves up, the Killer has to hook. Then it's up to the Killer if they want to proxy their hook or go hunting or for the last Survivor to decide if they want to hide or go in for the save. At least the game will be progressing without one player being forced to lie on the floor doing nothing except maybe slithering about the map in the hope that hatch might spawn nearby.

  • I personally think they have gone a little too far with some of the recent Killer buffs and the last 3 Killers have way too many strong powers. Every single one of Dracula's powers is arguably better than what Trapper or Legion bring to the table.

It's hard to think of a Killer that hasn't been buffed in some way recently. Even Killers like Nemi and Bubba (who were pretty close to the 60% Kill rate already) got some pretty significant buffs. So I don't buy the narrative that kill rates haven't changed much since the last stats. Even if they haven't, there must be some nuance to the figures. I bet some Survivor players on the lower end of the MMR scale have seen their escape rates absolutely plummet overall (or at least against certain Killers). I think I probably only escape 2 out of every 10 games now. And yes, I do include games that have giving up or a DC in those figures, because although BHVR might like to pretend these games don't exist, I still have to play them out.

It's not all the Dev's fault. I tend to view DBD as a fundamentally casual game by design, but I know much of the player base have a totally different attitude. They will SWF up on coms, stack items, perks and add-ons in their favour and play in the most optimal ways possible, which usually means someone in the trial isn't going to be having much fun. This skews the data and the problem is, I'm not sure what BHVR can really do to account for player attitudes or to mitigate for "must win at all costs" play styles.

But I think most people can agree that it's not fun to be stomped for multiple trials in a row, which is where it feels like we are at with Survivor (at least for me).

  • @Akumakaji said:

I don't know how often I proposed my absolute favorite thing that BHVR could possible introduce: a new, general killer perk called "Just Leave!". I would equip this perk on all my killers first perk slot and never take it off, ever again.

    1. If survivors linger in the exit gate area for 40/30/25s the Entity blocks the exit gates, their aura is shown to the killer and they become exposed.
    2. The gates stay blocked as long as the survivor lingers in the exit gate area and in a 24m radius around them.
    3. If the killer downs the survivor in the exit gate area, the survivor can be moried.
    4. If the survivor leaves via the exit gates before the gates get blocked, they get a "7.000BP Awesome person" score event.

I kinda want to see something like Alucard's Shield add-on become a perk (maybe with the Entity's claws instead of Hellfire). Something like staying within the open gates for 30/25/20 seconds will activate it and anyone caught by a claw will be instantly sacrificed to the Entity. Also, reveals the aura of Survivors when active, so the Killer can watch the show from across the map.

Obviously a meme perk, but would be very risky to hang around to teabag if something like that was in effect.

  • If you're having rough games, I think it's probably to do with splitting the queues. The matchmaking system goes kinda wild when BHVR put on events or time limited modes (and it's not all that great at the best of times).

Today I've been dunked on by a gen rushing SWF in one match, only to get near beginner players with green and yellow perks in the next.

Your games will probably go back to being closer to normal for about a week after the Halloween event ends. But only a week, because 2 Vs 8 will be back and matchmaking will be iffy again…

  • I think it depends. If you can hold your own looping and don't mind occupying the Killer's time (or you're so good, the Killer doesn't want to chase you), then I would say bring more team based perks.

If, like me, you'll hit the dirt incredibly quickly if you're not healed up or have no exhaustion perk and find yourself to be a prime target for tunnelling, then I say bring whatever you feel you need to Survive. There's no point bringing team perks if you're out of the game in less than 5 minutes.

  • I mean yeah, Survivors don't always play well as a team. Then again, this is a "team" game with a grand total of two emotes with which you can communicate to your teammates with, so is it any surprise we often don't make the right play? How am I to know that the Jake doing nothing on the hud is going for the save or if he really is doing nothing? And thanks to the Distortion changes and Killer aura perk buffs, if you can't loop, well good news!, because now you can't hide either.

So if Survivors are really so bad, why have BHVR spent the last year buffing nearly every Killer in the game?

Let's face it, whether we play Survivor or Killer, most of us suck at this game.

  • I'm still kinda looking forward to it returning. At this point, I only really come back to DBD to play the time limited modes with any regularity.

That said, I'm not sure about some of the changes they have planned for the mode. Why are they bringing back hooks and flashlight saves? Why will the Medic class be the only one that can self-heal? Why are they adding Blight and Spirit to a casual mode (two Killers I think it's fair to say a majority of players probably struggle to verse)? And no disrespect to Blight / Spirit mains, but you guys tend to have absolutely zero chill in my experience. Besides, I don't even wear headphones when I'm playing, so it's gonna be scout class or nothing this time around if I have to verse Spirit. I hope we experience better queue times with more choice of Killers, but I'm not optimistic (I only played 4 Killer games as I didn't want to wait 20 minutes to get into a game).

Any steps that take 2 Vs 8 closer to being like the main game might be steps in the wrong direction for me, but I guess we'll see…

  • @solarjin1 said:

how the hell did scout have the lowest pick rate. That wall hacking it provided was egregiously strong.

I'm surprised by this as well. They were by far the best class in my opinion, especially with every trial guaranteed to feature a Huntress. Most of my matches had more Escapists and Scouts than any other class. I don't remember seeing too many Medics or Guides (although I would sometimes choose these classes if nobody else chose them).

  • I think it's weird to buy a game and only play half of it. But if you've tried Killer before and it really wasn't for you, then that's fair enough.

There are certain Killers that I might get a daily for that I absolutely refuse to play as. Mostly because they're Killers that I don't enjoy versing. I won't play Wraith, Doctor, Spirit, Hag or Nurse (playing her makes me feel sick), no matter how many times BHVR give me a daily for these Killers, so I do get where you are coming from.

And the day that BHVR nerf my beloved Lightborn is the day I will become a Survivor main who only plays Killer for tomes. Let's hope that day never comes…

  • I've realised one possible explanation for the sweatiness of the event queue when I tried queuing for a Killer game in the regular mode earlier. It took so long to get into a game that I gave up and joined the event queue again. So I think what might be happening is that players who want to play regular DBD join the event queue out of impatience (where I'm guessing most players are currently queuing) because they simply can't get into a game for the regular mode.

That might explain why a lot of players aren't engaging with the event stuff at all. Because they don't actually want to be playing the event. I think the event queue might have a more relaxed MMR system, leading to some games that can feel even sweatier than normal, because players aren't being matched up appropriately.

I still think it was a mistake to split the queues for the big events like this (at least for smaller regions). I just don't think the game has a big enough player base to support multiple queues, not without resulting in the experience worsening for some players.

  • Solid list. I wouldn't rate Gabe, Jeff or David that highly though (I think they are C tier).

I think Yun-Jin only has one good perk (Smash Hit), but it's still better than everything that Ash has, so I'd move her up 2 tiers.

  • Yeah, I think there's a bug with the bombs that can cause a Survivor's scratch marks to permanently disappear. I've seen it happen before.

The devs already know about this bug, so there's no need to report it.

  • They tend to be much weaker in real matches, but I find them to loop near flawlessly in the custom mode. It's not uncommon for me to get very few hooks while practicing, since they're always on gens if not being chased. I've noticed that they've learned the counter play to quite a few of the Killers I play, too. They know to run early from Legion in Frenzy to get you out of power (and of course they know exactly where you are) and can even dodge Slinger's spear. Granted, they don't dodge that well, but then if I playing Slinger on the Switch I'm going to be missing a lot of shots anyway. Like others have said, you can sometimes brute force their logic at certain vaults and pallets.

I think they could do with some difficulty or behaviour settings, tbh. I can imagine very new or very bad Killer players becoming frustrated versing bots in the custom mode. I know I sometimes do.

Distortion still starts with a token and counters Lethal. So you wouldn't need to revert the perk for it to counter Lethal.

The point I'm trying to make is that most Killers don't just bring Lethal. They also bring a bunch of other aura perks that will burn through Distortion tokens so quickly, you might never get it recharged again.

Besides, if Survivors don't run Distortion anymore because they think it's bad or low value compared to something else they could be bringing, the strength of Lethal becomes even greater than it was because no-one is bringing anything to counter it. I personally wouldn't waste a perk slot on Distortion these days.

Aura reading is incredibly strong on high mobility / sniping Killers like Nurse, Blight, Huntress and Billy because they can get very fast downs. Why have a perk that can make their aura builds even stronger? These Killers don't need slowdown if they can put the Survivors into a death spiral of continual hook saves.

  • In my games, I find that the Survivors need to have a good early start or it's typically a speedy GG for them. As soon as the Killer can start to build pressure, it can be a runaway train and from that point the Survivors are always on the back foot. For this reason, I dislike facing Lethal and always have (even before it became much more prevalent). It has the potential to turn the flow of the trial completely on its head very early. The Killer should be stronger towards the end of the trial, when Survivors begin to die, gens are harder to find (or easier to patrol if the Killer defends a cluster) and resources dwindle.

I don't know what could be done to nerf it besides reverting the Distortion nerf. I think the early start that it gives you is strong enough to justify removing the extra 2 seconds of aura reading that it gives to other perks.

Personally, I don't like imbalanced Killer loadouts that are all slowdown or all aura etc. I think Killers should be encouraged to mix up their builds and bring a little of everything to a trial.

Honestly, I wish more people would play for fun. Not super competitive, not super focused on being a dick, just fun.

But as it stands, most people seem to hate whenever you don't play super competitive on both sides. If a killer realises, I'm playing with a fun build, I get tunneled out. If survivors notice I'm playing with a fun build, they'll finish the gens as fast as humanly possible and proceed to teabag in the exit gate for 2 minutes straight.

I don't think everyone has to go out of their way to accomodate for their opponent's fun but at least you don't need to be a dick. Play in a way, you would like others to play as well and focus on having fun again. That's all I ask for.

If you get your enjoyment from winning by any means necessary, then you need to accept that your opponents will play in the same way but when someone is clearly focusing on fun, don't got out of your way to be a dick.

Yeah, a lot of player frustration stems from a mismatch of play styles I think. I even had a Steve tell me off for playing my lute by pointing at a gen. Steve my guy, we are playing the Halloween event. We can sweat over the gens in the regular mode. Of course, I try to be a good teammate and do objectives, but mostly I join the event queue to kick pumpkins, mess around with the crystal bombs and ultimately get myself moried in the Void:

I'm mostly just frustrated at people treating the event lobby like it's the normal one. Like, dude, I'm not even trying, how is this even satisfying for you?

With Killer, I can bring some slowdown perks so I can focus on the event, but I've had three Survivors matches again a Dracula that tunnelled someone out, two of the were me.

I just got blocked out of playing any game with Easy Anti Cheat for over 24 hours, so I've been looking forward to get back into things, and this was what I come back to.

Like, the split lobby exists because these people whined about not being able to play a normal game last year, and now that it's hear, we still have to put up with them.

Outside of events, though, I'm mostly fine. The good games, even ones I lose, outweigh the bad ones with tunnelling, slugging and general BM.

I've felt the same way about the event too. Some games I don't get to interact with the event at all because the Killer has tunnelled me out early or slugged / hooked the entire team. I've even resorted to putting on a full anti-tunnel build to make myself less of an easy target and to give myself a chance to stay in the game. And I never run full anti-tunnel builds.

I wish more players were busy "wasting time" running around kicking pumpkins, opening rifts and collecting more haunts and crystals. I mean, is that not the whole point of the event? Why are so many players bringing the strongest builds, rushing gens or trying to Kill everyone as quickly as possible?

  • Personally, I've really enjoyed playing with them in my Survivor games.

Yes, they are a little annoying to face as Killer, especially if the trial is already going badly for you. But I still prefer facing void crystals over beamers and flash bangs however, since you do at least still have some visibility in the cloud and any Survivors inside are equally blinded. I don't know if I'd like to see them return in perk form, but as an item for time limited events I think they're perfectly fine.

If these players cannot last a mere 15 seconds in chase, I think they are either throwing on purpose or need their mmr adjusted heavily. Just standing in some safe parts of some loops buys enough time, ######### are people doing to last less than 15 seconds against anything thats not nurse?

The game is not all about looping or playing 100% as a team (unless you're in a SWF, that is). By design, there is more than one way in this game to survive. Some players prefer to stealth around and evade the Killer and that's where they get their fun. Personally, I think it's bad that BHVR have removed a reliable perk for players that prefer the hide and seek aspect of DBD to the looping mechanics.

Before the nerf, you could use Distortion to hide right under the Killer's nose. But now that you can't, I think some players that might have played more aggressively with Distortion will now play it extra safe, locker hop and be a much less active teammate than they were previously.

It doesn't matter, anyway. People with my viewpoint lost the argument and the result is that Distortion isn't worth the perk slot for stealth players anymore.

  • That's sad. Another time Switch players get the poopy end of the stick but I guess it's out of BHVR's hands.

Now I'm kinda glad I didn't buy any of the content that own on Switch for Steam as well. Pyramid Head, Cheryl and Mikaela will be forever trapped on my Nintendo but at least we still get their perks. I know I won't be spending another penny on this game on Switch and I hope Nintendo loose money over this.

  • I like the idea of maybe making up classes for the events queue like they did for 2 Vs 8.

That was one of my favourite things about that mode. I think they could even just make the mode perkless to be honest (although I'd miss Lightborn because it's a perk that I always bring so I can have chill games. So maybe they could create an anti bully squad class for Killer with built in Lightborn and Iron Grasp for players like me. They could call it the Devout class because it makes securing hooks much easier).

Not sure why they had to buff distortion again. That perk was perfect as it was. Also why machine learning? I saw that perk ONCE in my matches… We all know predator got nerfed due to Nurse again… wee..

Players that use Distortion don't last 30 seconds in chase. They might not even last 15 seconds in chase.

So even with this change, it's still a bottom of the bin tier perk for these players.

  • Nah, I don't need to take a break to play like I just installed the game.

I don't even want to think about how bad I would be if I took an extended break from DBD. Nowadays I just put on a meme build and not care too much about how well or badly I play. There's just no point in taking this game seriously at all.

Legion’s power, in part, works off of the time-commitment of Survivors needing to sit and Mend.

This acts as a form of slowdown.

If they remove/reduce the time it takes to mend in favor of another method, then that needs to be considered in Legions kit. Likely in the form of Deep Wounds being something of a chase related Perk, which in turn makes the 1v1 a bit easier.

I've given it some more thought and now I'm thinking that the act of having to mend might be removed and instead Survivors in deep wound will get a debuff to action speeds like repairing, opening gates / chests, cleansing etc. One that would stay until fully healed, encouraging Survivors to heal up to remove the debuff. Or I guess maybe they could make it a special effect that could only be mended by another Survivor like Dudewithname suggested, forcing Survivors to stick together more and giving Legion a bit more opportunity to use their power to chain hits to get 5th hit downs.

This is all speculation of course. I don't know what they've got in mind.

  • Aside from maybe removing the way the screen darkens with time as a quality of life improvement, I really have no idea. Some of you guys are talking like it's gonna be a buff to the status, when I think a more likely scenario is a nerf or rework to make it less tedious to Survivors. I personally don't mind the deep wound mechanic but we all find different things annoying and I think deep wound is likely to be something that a lot of other players have grumbled about in feedback surveys.

Please BHVR, just don't do something that's going to make Survivors hate my Legion more than they already do or to make Solo Q a misery. It's true that they're not much of a threat against skilled loopers and their counter play is frustratingly dull for both sides, but the last thing low MMR Survivors would like to see is Legion with a better 1 vs 1 power. I want to see some Legion buffs, but not like this.
