  • Wow, that's a lot of changes to take on board. Not sure all of them can be tested by the player base to give enough feedback for just one PTB…

It's good to see lots of underused perks getting much needed buffs, though. Lots of changes are good and some I have no strong feeling for but there a few I have some thoughts on:

I've got to say, I absolutely hate the finisher mori change.

I have a tradition of usually letting the final survivor go, so being forced to 4K if I ever want to see a mori again kinda stinks. I like to use the green and pink mori as hook counters, so this will probably mean earlier exits for the weaker survivors in my games, too. I'll also miss the fun of mori photo bombs, moris in front of hooked Survivors and making a pile of moried Survivors.

I'm also not too keen on the Lucky Star nerf. It was the best Survivor aura reading perk in the game and it will have a lot less utility now (I will probably replace it with Still Sight in my builds).

Distortion will be a dead perk. I don't personally use this perk, but I feel sorry for those that do. It's useless now and another nail in the coffin for the stealth play style.

Leverage seems like it could be a juicy perk for high mobility back to the hook tunneling Killers, so not a big fan of this change either.

  • I've really enjoyed playing as him so far. It takes some practice to switch between the forms, but I'm slowly getting the hang of it. I know we've had Chucky for some time now, but the third person Bat and Wolf modes still feel like fresh experiences to me (plus, those bats are cute as hell).

I don't always get matched up with top tier Survivors though, so maybe the chill trials have made him a little more enjoyable while I'm still learning (it's not usually this way for me with a new Killer).

I don't think he's weak at all, but players will need to put the time into learning him if they want to become consistent, which is not a bad thing in my opinion. Hellfire is probably his strongest power. It has some limitations, but you can't dodge it like Pyramid Head's Punishment of the Damned. Think the cool down may be a little too short for how strong it is.

I absolutely love the add-on that spawns random hellfire in the exit gates. Can we get something similar as a perk please, BHVR?

  • I don't really want to see any more "celebrities" added to the game (except for Elvira), but I do hope any future licensed chapters can at least secure the likeness of any actors that played a character on screen.

If they ever do a Gremlins chapter, it would be a dream to see Zach Galligan and Pheobe Cates added to the game as Billy and Kate, ideally with some newly recorded voice lines (though I doubt very much that Pheobe Cates could be convinced to come out of retirement for our goofy li'l horror game).

They'd be my new mains for sure (but let's be honest, I'd still main these characters anyway).

  • Let's be fair here, putting a lot of hours into a single Killer is not equivalent to putting the same amount of time into playing Survivor. Simply because a Killer player only has to learn the ins and outs of a single character, whereas Survivors need to learn the counter play to all 37 Killers without any kind of practice mode to help them even get the basics of looping down.

I can honestly count the number of times I've played against a Hag or The Twins on one hand and I have 1000+ hours in the game. So that's probably less than 2 hours of experience against these Killer, versus whatever time the Killer spent learning their character (if they're a P100, that's obviously going to be a heck of a lot more). The time investment is not a fair comparison.

  • Nice! Thanks for sharing the code here.

    As always, it's much appreciated.

  • I don't typically use items when playing Survivor but items are all you have in this mode, so the fact that they've added Franklin's for Killers as base-kit is something I'm not too thrilled about (I hate that perk).

But yeah, I'll have to try out the mode and see if it's any better this time around.

  • Personally, I hope Legion is disabled for the mode this time around…

More pallets and loops, I guess? Couldn't really find any last time since you can barely see ahead of you, so chases were incredibly short.

I'd also like an increased chance of finding med kits in chests. Maybe I was just unlucky, but I rarely ever found one so I never got healed for the entire trial.

  • It doesn't feel good to play out a trial with a player that simply doesn't want to be there. Not from the Survivor or Killer perspective. I'd honestly rather play with (or against bots), so long as there's at least one other human interested in playing on. There's nothing worse than a player going AFK or dropping / spamming pallets because they want out quickly but they've already ramped up their DC match making bans for the day.

There should be a 15 minute maximum ban and it should take more DCs to get there. Half my games are being ruined by Survivors that won't (or can't) eat a DC penalty to give the rest of us a bot to play with.

  • @adam1233467 said:

Do not use Object bro, this perk is useless, use distortion, it's better.

Agreed. I absolutely hated getting OoO when Chaos Shuffle was live. Why would anyone willingly run a perk that revealed their aura to the Killer at regular intervals for what, a negligible boost in repairing, healing and cleansing? No thanks!

Might have some utility against aura perks but even so, has got to be a candidate for one of the worst Survivor perks in the game. Each to their own, I guess.

Who of you knows this strange feeling?
I played DBD very actively for a while, but in the last 2 years or so I've taken more and longer breaks.
Now I'm at a point where I've been wanting to play for days, but then I think about the unfun playstyles like tunneling, slugging and camping, and I immediately lose the desire to start the game.

Note: This is NOT an Us vs Them post !!!!
I can only speak from the survivor perspective because that's the role I play most of the time and prefer to play. I'm sure there are also Killer players who know the same or similar feelings as I've described, for other reasons (swf, tbagging, flashlights and so on), who are also welcome to talk about their feelings.

My question is: What should I do? Do you have any tips for me on how I can stop caring about these unfun things as mentioned above? I wish I just didn't care and could think "Okay, the match was unfun, go next".
But unfortunately most matches are unfun with the same unfun playstyles over and over again. I only play solo, which is even more frustrating because you not only have the killer as an opponent but often your team too.
Searching for people to play SWF with is not an option either, I'm introverted and on many days I don't feel like talking at all.

I found 2vs8 quite relaxing, it was chaotic but tunneling and camping were hardly there and when one or two survivor disconnected or were eliminated early you still had the feeling you had a chance. I know, many people missed the perks but for me it was great that there were no clear meta. But even though I really feel the need to play, thoughts of the sweaty 1v4 mode keep me from doing so.

I know I asked for tips, but I doubt there are any good tips for my weird problem. Maybe I just want to know if there are other people who feel the same way and hear what they do in this situation.

I totally get the feelings you describe OP because I've felt them too (I'm a Solo Q player as well).

I find that reframing the way I feel about certain frustrations has helped me to deal with annoyances a little better. And if I go into a trial expecting to have a bad time, I probably will.

Some things I do to help is to play a character that has something comforting about them (Like Steve's goofy scream, Meg's injured noises or Jones the cat visiting Ripley in the lobby). Or I'll put together a build that helps mitigate my common furstrations. For example, all my Killers have Lightborn and Iron Grasp permanently equipped to deal with Survivors that won't let you get even a single hook. Or I'll have a goal in mind that goes beyond simply escaping or killing, so maybe working towards an achievement, completing a tome challenge or getting perk value. Or I'll go full meme build and decide I don't care about winning or losing today.

Nowadays, if I have two rotten games in a row and my mood goes bad, I log off and play something else because that day is obviously not a DBD day. This is my most important rule to follow to keep my enjoyment of playing the game.

  • My Survivor games have actually been a lot easier this week. This is usually my favourite time to play DBD because the lull inbetween chapters or events means all the sweats are off playing something else and I get to actually escape once in a while.

Otherwise, it's the regular ebb and flow of DBD MMR (plus the times you play at and your region). Games might be more difficult (or easier) for now, but from experience I know that never lasts forever.

  • I don't normally buy legendary skins but I really enjoyed the movie, so I thought I'd treat myself on this occasion (I think Alien: Romulus might be the best film in the franchise since Aliens and Fede Alvarez is becoming one of my favourite horror directors).

I personally think Rain's model is a decent if not perfect likeness of the actress that plays her, although I know not everyone agrees. She looks better in game than in the lobby. I do think the hair isn't quite right, though. I don't know why, but BHVR don't always get the hair right.

I also don't understand why she has voice lines in the lobby but not in a trial. Why go to the trouble of getting the real actress in to do voice lines if you're not going to have them in game?

    OP's controller:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/XC6CVFKJEF6Y/download-282-29.jpeg

Not everyone has a modern controller. OP doesn't even have access to analogue sticks. Check your privilege.

It is more awkward than it needs to be, though. There's no reason why BHVR couldn't program a dedicated button that would quickly swing the camera to look directly behind the Survivor and then return it to facing forward when it's no longer being pressed. This would be a decent quality of life change for controller players.

I have a love / hate relationship with the Survivor role. I have a slight preference for Survivor game play, but it sure is difficult to enjoy sometimes. I get that Survivor is meant to be the more difficult role, but it never feels good to go on a losing streak. It's the only online game with MMR that I can think of that actually gets harder the more you lose.

  • It sucks the fun out of 2 Vs 8 completely. I'm not talking about Killers that get together to tag team occasionally throughout the match, but the ones that stick to each other like glue to make sure every chase is a sub 10 second one.

There's absolutely nothing Survivors can do against it and it makes me want to quit playing the mode for good. It's emerged to become the go to strategy for the majority of Killer players.

  • I think a lot of the more experienced Survivors are still playing 2 Vs 8 while they still can. I've been getting zero prestige Survivor newbies in a few of my Killer lobbies, you know the kind that panic and run straight into you as soon as they hear a terror radius. I'm not the greatest of Killers but with 900+ hours, I've probably gained enough MMR to be way beyond newbie MMR by this point.

Anytime there's an event that splits the queues, I've observed that the MMR system completely breaks down.

  • After 2 Vs 8, I don't know how I'd feel about MMR being removed from the game. 2 Vs 8 is the closest experience I've had to no MMR being in the game, since it's so loose you can end up being turbo stomped and double teamed by two incredibly skilled and co-ordinated Killers, or face two total newbies and loop them all game for max boldness points.

No MMR would mean more variety and a lot more exteme one-sided games, but probably also more escapes and easier Killer games overall, whereas the current system means consistently sweaty games with no chill, no escapes and Killer games that require more focus to win.

I'm not sure which of these choices I prefer.

I think a playtime based system wouldn't work well because there would be no built in defence against smurfing.

  • I've found it to be a mode of extremes. You're either having the best of times or the worst of times, with not much inbetween.

It can be fun, but I don't want them to make it permanent because the MMR system breaks completely for the main game and I don't think that's good for the overall health of the game.

  • Now that it seems like anything even slightly horror adjacent could be added, I think a Star Trek chapter would be kinda neat. The most obvious choice is a Borg Killer. But The Salt Vampire would make a for a cool mimic Killer too, though I know we can't have anything fun like that in the game because SWFs ruin the concept.

  • Sure I do. But I won't say it doesn't make me grumpy at times.

I still enjoy the variety that playing Killer brings. Plus, I'm not so bad at Killer and I like to win, so it can be a little rough on the old ego to play too much Survivor. I tend to hop over to the Killer side if the Survivor games are not going so well.

If I played Survivor with the hope of escaping regularly, I'd have quit the role a long time ago. But those rare wins do feel special and I guess that's still enough to keep me coming back.

  • lovehatelist.png

Here's mine. I made this a while ago, so you can move The Clown, Wesker, and Blight up a rank after their nerfs and quality of life changes. Maybe the Doctor can move up a rank too because I don't dislike him as much as I used to. Not sure where Unknown or Vecna would fit yet.

The Legion get a tier of their own because they're my main and I feel conflicted. I totally get why Survivors don't like them but I love playing as them, so I dunno…

Castlevania was released on the NES and that console was marketed as a toy for children. The whole "it's franchise for children" really falls apart when people are hyped about Castlevania coming as well.

But I've noticed in general that some people in the DBD community really want to play gatekeeper when it comes to which kinds of horror is fine.

There's 30+ years worth of Castlevania stuff. As an OG spooky game franchise, I think it's earned a place in DBD.

Even though I'd much prefer the cowboy / punk vampires from Near Dark or The Lost Boys, I'm just glad to see a vampire making it into the fog.

  • I'd struggle to care less about this franchise being added to the game. I know nothing about it and it looks like a game for kids, tbh. I think I was around 29 years old when it came out, so no surprise that it passed me by.

Castlevania is a big deal, but I'm not feeling optimistic about DBD's future licensed content if the likes of Tomb Raider and Five Nights At Freddy's are being added to the game before horror icons like Jason Voorhees or The Terminator.

Oh well, at least it makes some of the things on my borderline not quite horror but kinda horror adjacent wishlist a bit more likely (stuff like Gremlins, Jurassic Park and Ghostbusters).

  • Not gonna lie, it makes me feel uncomfortable to see Killers do this. And I can't help but lose a little respect for the streamers that do it too because they aught to know better.

Like a lot of behaviour in DBD I don't like that it's been normalised, but I try to shrug it off as just thoughtless kids who still have a lot of growing up to do and lack the emotional maturity to know any better.

  • My Survivor games in 2 Vs 8 have become significantly harder and I hate to say this, they've also become more frustrating and a lot less fun as a result. The Killers I get are on a par with the main game now and if that's how it's going to be for the rest of the event, I'd rather be playing that instead. At least we can pip up in the main mode. One Killer who knows what they're doing is enough of a struggle for me, nevermind two.

I preferred the variable skill levels that we were getting earlier in the event. It meant I had more of a chance to escape (or could at least stay in the trial for longer and contribute a bit more).

On the plus side, Killer queues are now down to about 10 minutes, so at least I've had a few more chances to play some Killer games (which is still more enjoyable than the Survivor side, imho).

The whole idea is that players can play however they want, if it's within the game rules… but BHVR shouldn't be encouraging problematic playstyles, by having perks available that make these playstyles much easier and effective to do.

Yes, people can always excessively hide for a "last survivor" hatch or gate escape… but it's much harder to do without perks like Distortion or Sole Survivor. BHVR's number 1 priority for survivors, should be to make solo q teams feel more like teams. And since BHVR said the solo q to SWF gap isn't primarily game information, it makes sense that the best way to address the gap is to discourage anti-teamwork.

Because remember that you can't ever 100% force killers to never ever facecamp, or excessively 3-gen, but you can make game changes to make these strategies harder to do, and less effective to do. Likewise, the goal isn't to 100% remove anti-teamwork from the game, so it's still worth it to make changes to discourage people that want to spend the entire game with an anti-teamwork strategy.

Yes, there can be a limit to the expectations placed on survivor, and it's literally somewhere between Distortion and Alert. For reals, alert? You're really going to argue that Alert encourages survivors to excessively hide? The perk that mostly happens when the killer is chasing a survivor, which isn't very exciting because the survivor UI already tells survivors when the killer is chasing someone?

I'm not advocating for nerfing Alert. I'm saying it can be used to avoid interaction with the Killer. I know, because I've used it in a full aura build to do exactly that. My point is that I think it's not right to single out Distortion or Sole Survivor for promoting "anti-teamwork" because I don't think they actually do. I'd bet most Distortion users are still active players, they just don't want to get chased because getting into a 10 second chase wouldn't be playing to their strengths. And if you are dedicated enough, you will find a way to avoid taking agro from the Killer by sandbagging injured teammates, using lockers or finding creative uses for whatever perks are available to you. These kinds of players won't disappear from the game because Distortion gets nerfed.

The answer isn't to nerf perks, but to actually reward Survivors for playing as a team, something the current MMR system doesn't actually do. Players will continue to prioritise their own survival for as long as the only thing that matters is escaping. It's a team game but it also kind of isn't. I do get most of my escapes through the gate (something like 90%), but you don't actually have to play DBD like a team to be able to escape and I think that's an intentional design choice. Maybe the MMR system could match up survivors with similar play styles in some way, I don't know. But the game has made space for all types of players, even the ones that many other players might find a bit frustrating.

I didn't know bugs warranted buffs. While we're at it, can we make tiles stronger seeing as I get stuck on invisible objects?

It's not a "buff" though, it's just returning scratch marks to the state they were at about a year or so ago. BHVR do have a record of accidentally breaking stuff like this (like the time they buffed Male Survivors to have a better fast vault than the Female Survivors).

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3773315#Comment_3773315

There is a massive difference between “the survivors are definitely going to lose, and a hatch play is pretty much the only way any of the survivors can escape” and “literally decided before the game has even started, that the strategy is a hatch play”

I mean, we could nerf all these perks. Survivors that want to play in this way will sneak around, getting in and out of lockers to hide their auras all game anyway.

We could argue that perks like Alert need a nerf because they let Survivors know where the Killer is (and therefore where not to be if they don't want to be chased). I think there's a limit to the expectations we can put on our fellow Survivors and their chosen play styles, and I think players that load into a trial to do absolutely nothing all game are not all that common.

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3773269#Comment_3773269

Sole Survivor is an anti-teamwork perk, and should be nerfed too. In fact, all of the perks that help enable the "excessive hide, and wait for your survivors to die" strategy, should be nerfed.

I kinda credit Sole Survivor for getting me out of absolute rock bottom Survivor MMR. If you've been in enough trials where nobody else does any saving, healing or gens at all, you've got to do something to improve your chances.

So long as they've been a team player up until the point that the trial went south, I don't begrudge any of the other Survivors if they want to make a hatch play when the "team game" is obviously over.

  • Scratch marks have been broken for quite a few patches now, spawning in weird places and with huge gaps, all without the aid of any perks. You should only be able to hide your scratch marks with a perk or by walking. And on certain maps, they've been practically invisible at times. So I'm glad they're finally fixing them.

I don't think PC players using filters for a competitive advantage has anything to do with fixing a broken game mechanic.

And if players want to make their games look absolutely awful in the hope that they'll win an RNG heavy casual game with no ranking system of any kind, I think maybe they just need to chill a bit.

  • I'm not in favour of a Distortion nerf and I've said so here before (for the record, I hardly ever use this perk). I honestly think it's fine and I happen to think that a lot of Killers complaining about it don't have any appreciation for the hide and seek aspect of the game. This game has to be able to cater to different play styles or it'll just become a looney tunes looping simulator and nothing else.

Why don't Killers run Discordance, Spies from the Shadows, Whispers, Surveillance or Call of Brine more often if Distortion bothers them that much?

  • If I have to run Devour Hope just for the opportunity to mori more than one survivor in a trial (a perk I hate, btw), then I'll do it BHVR. This is what you'll drive me to.

I might be in the minority, I dunno (guess we'll see how the wider player base reacts to the changes). But I don't want the finisher mori system to go ahead if it means mori offering are just for the extra BP and the only time to mori will be to kill the last Survivor (because I like to let the last Survivor live, as per horror movie tradition).

  • @ohheyitsbobcat said:

I think they'll prolly tune down the overdrive as it is kinda insane but I hope they keep the turning. I'd also be fine for higher cooldown on misses/hits.

Honestly as long as they don't do anything too major I think Billy will be fine regardless.

I hope they keep the turn rate as well. It might not make much of a difference, but take it too far and I would hate for him to feel clunky to use again.

  • @Devil_hit11 said:

my prediction is that they're going to add a cooldown to overdrive like you have normal chainsaw → Overdrive →Overheat. Overheat won't disable chainsaw but it might make chainsaw unable to overdrive for like… 30 seconds. they'll probably change those add-on that reduce heat dissipation which will like lower cooldown of overheat for overdrive. A killer that went from S-tier to something more middle of the road.

I wouldn't even mind that too much, if I'm honest. Overdrive always seems to kick in when I don't want it to and then I end up mistiming a curve at a loop.

I only started playing him after his buffs though, so I'm not going to pretend I'm the world's best Billy player. I'm sure there are plenty who have all this stuff locked in to muscle memory and this will feel like a significant nerf. But the overdrive has hindered me as much as it's ever helped.

I guess we have to wait and see what BHVR have in store for him.

Because the average Survivor is so noob. If you encounter a decent 8-man team that decently loops. Billy will feel so weak.

This is just my opinion but, I don't want Billy to be a support Killer (Which I think BHVR meant for this mode). Doing a genuinely good curve and outplaying the Survivor should feel rewarding.

I guess I just view 2 Vs 8 a little bit differently. Since it kinda has no functional MMR, it's not likely that you'll be going up against 8 very decent loopers, so it's OK if he's not as strong as in the main game. And you can still curve survivors that are injured and get a down (and hopefully there will be lots of targets if your partner is doing well).

A good Huntress and Nurse paired with an instadown Billy could have half the team slugged or in cages in like 2 minutes.

  • @supersonic853 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3772465#Comment_3772465

A better example is all the buffs they gave huntress when she already would be mostly strong enough for this mode. The maps have fairly enough sightlines for her. And she had an entire teammate to make it easier for her to down a survivor. Billy it'd have been nice if they removed his instadown to maybe give him more effects in his basekit. Like a cooldown addon or overdrive generation. Or make both boots base instead of 1. Nothing to major. But at least he feels like he gets stronger from 2v8 like the other killers do. He basically has green bump and yellow boots base. For the trade off of permanent meme addon lol.

I swear he felt way more maneuverable to me than usual, but maybe that's because I normally just use the two brown boot add-ons in regular mode. So yeah, it is just the same as the yellow boots. So I agree, his buffs are nothing special but BHVR must think the average Billy player is still good enough to do well in this mode, even with his chainsaw nerfed. I think that's probably true. He doesn't feel too weak to me.

Nurse on the other hand is a difficult Killer to master and Huntress is not an easy Killer to be effective with either (especially on controller). I do think they over did it a little with Huntress, though. She doesn't need 10 hatchets.

  • I think Billy is a slept on Killer in this mode, tbh. He doesn't need his instadown. I tend to use him most to pressure the last gens, quickly finish chases with chainsaw sprints and zip across the map to where the action is whenever my Killer buddy gives me aura readings. Mobility or range seem to be the strongest attributes to have in 2 Vs 8 (though Trapper's ability to lock down hot spots on the map is very useful, too).

I think the reason why Nurse was so buffed was to encourage players that don't normally play Nurse to try her out. It's not really worked though, since the long queue times discourage players from queuing up with Killers that they're not very good with. So all that buffing her seems to have done is make the already skilled Nurses even more deadly.

I do think most of the more casual players have probably moved away from this mode by now, so he might seem a bit weaker than he actually is.

  • Not gonna lie, I enjoyed doing this from time to time in Killer games. It doesn't happen often, but it's evil and very funny when you can pull it off.

But I'm not going to complain if it means another reliable way to get to the second floor in my Survivor games.

  • @Crowman said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3771573#Comment_3771573

The survivor perk buffs won't change anything. The shorter charge time of the trap perks won't mean much since you still have to wait for the trap to expire or trigger before you can charge it again.

Diversion having a lower activation requirement doesn't make it stronger since a killer will quickly figure out diversion is being used.

Deception has a similiar issue to Diversion where it doesn't do much once the killer figures out you have it.

Dance With Me cooldown now lines up with Quick and Quiet and is a perk you ultimately only run in combination of other vaulting perks.

The only notable perk buff is Flashbang, because it means an extra flashbang could be in play.

If I get to throw more pebbles in a trial, that's always going to be a massive win in my book! Plus, the buff might help you charge it up at least once Vs a stealth killer.

The best change for me has been the improvements to scratch marks. Those have been tricky to see on certain maps for a long time. Got nothing bad to say about any of these changes. Good stuff.

  • I'm all for this. Such a welcome change.

My highest Survivor prestige is a P20 Meg and I've got to be real here, almost all of my BP is earned playing Killer. Prestige might suggest some degree of experience, but it has absolutely nothing at all to do with skill level. I'm a fairly experienced Survivor but still not a very good one.

I'm glad I don't need to worry about accidentally getting my Meg to P100. I don't spend a lot of BP on my Survivor main because I don't often bring an item or an offering into a trial, but I'm sure I'll make it to P100 eventually just by playing a lot.

  • I kinda like the loose MMR of this mode to be honest. It's very chaotic, but I feel like it's probably a bit closer to how DBD was before MMR replaced the Grade system (I wasn't playing back then). The matches are more variable and because of that, tend to be a bit more chill overall.

It certainly beats getting turbo stomped for 10 trials in a row because you escaped a Blight once, anyway.

  • I haven't played for a day or two, but it might be the nature of the players willing to sit in a Killer queue for 15-20 minutes as much as anything else. There's no way the more casual Killer players are willing to sit in a queue for that long. I don't know about anyone else, but I've definitely given up queuing for Killer games.

  • I'm not sure I agree with Survivors being auto caged on a down. It would make Huntress even stronger in this mode than she already is. I think giving Survivors base-kit unbreakable for the entire trial is a better solution.

There are literally 5 killers to choose from, and 2 killers.

Statistically there's a 45% chance that your game has a huntress in it.

If there's statistically only a 45% chance of her being in a 2 vs 8 trial, why is she in nearly 100% of mine? I swear if two of the same Killers could be chosen in 2 Vs 8, almost every trial would be Vs 2 Huntresses.

From what I've experienced, popularity in this mode is:

    1. Huntress (by a long way)
    2. Trapper / Wraith (Trapper is slightly more popular)
    3. Billy
    4. Nurse
  • I've only had one Killer duo slug to deny hatch. But it kinda backfired on them in the end because they slugged me three times, I was on death hook so picked myself up a couple of times, saved some teammates and luckily ended up as the last one alive. The third time I picked myself up, I was able to heal for long enough to give myself endurance and a hatchet hit gave me the extra haste I needed to reach a lucky hatch spawn just at the last moment. It felt great to deny the Killers an 8K in that trial.

I think there's a case to be made for base-kit unbreakable for the whole trial regardless of hook state. There shouldn't really be any reward for slugging in this mode, in my opinion. I get why Killers might do it in the end game because the cages often spawn near a gate, but there isn't a good reason not to send Survivors to a cage otherwise.

  • It would be unworkable but just for laughs, I kinda want to see a 4 vs 16 mode: Survivors Vs The Legion.

The queue times would be insanely long, though. Like see you guys next ice age long.

  • Yeah, I agree.

I played a couple of games on Switch myself, mostly out of curiosity. I had to see just how bad it would be, expecting a borderline unplayable experience, but I was very pleasantly surprised by how well it ran.

I can't speak for the Killer role because I don't play much Killer on Switch (perhaps Killer is where the performance issues lie?).

But for Survivor, it's more or less exactly the same as the regular 1 Vs 4 as far as I can tell.

  • I feel like players queuing up to play Huntress are at least one of the reasons why the Killer queue times are so insane. She's in nearly every trial.

I mean, 10 hatchets and near constant aura reveals… Yeah, I think BHVR might have over buffed her for this one.

  • None of these modes can ever become permanent, imho. They split the queues and it negatively impacts match-making in the standard mode because the game doesn't have a big enough player base to support extra modes.

Queue times notwithstanding, this is still the second best of the modifiers so far (for me, the best is Chaos Shuffle by a long way). I'd probably enjoy 2 vs 8 a lot more if I had a decent shot of getting into a Killer game fairly quickly, but I just can't be bothered waiting that long. They'll definitely need to do some work figuring out why the Killer queue times are so long (I have a few ideas why but I'd just be speculating). I'm sure they'll have the data to figure it out but I dunno if adding bots are the answer. Not too many players would like that solution.

  • I've started to suspect Killers are wising up to the cage spawns too. It doesn't help that the cages tend to cluster together, either.

It's part of the reason why I don't want to play much more Survivor in this mode and I had two early exits because of this (but I suppose maybe they just got lucky finding me).

If I know anything about the DBD community, if there's a way to optimise the fun out of these time limited modes, then we'll find it sooner or later.

  • I've found Scout to be my favourite class as well.

Every game seems to have a Huntress, so the extra crouching movement speed has helped me with looping her a lot. I've also really enjoyed sneaking around and trying to keep my eye on both Killers without giving away my position. Very risky, but satisfying if you can pull it off. I've also been able to use the iron will to do a disappearing act a couple of times. I've felt sometimes like my time would be better used on gens or going for saves/heals, though.

I've been wondering what everyone's favourite class is.
