I mained survivor few years ago and I did pretty well, could loop killers, team mates would do gens, escaped about half the time. Assuming my MMR is low for survivor which it could very well be as I'm not a survivor main anymore. how does one get the MMR up in solo if no one does gens? I could get hatch but hatch doesn't raise MMR

You can queue at what I like to call SWF O'clock. I don't know what time that will be in your region, but for mine it's around about 10 PM to 1 AM. Most of the more casual players have logged off by then and queues for Survivor are usually longer. So you have a higher than normal chance of being matched with a fairly competent duo or trio, regardless of what your MMR is.

You can also equip Sole Survivor, outlast your teammates and maybe try to get a few sneaky gate escapes that way. Hopefully you'll escape enough times to eventually start getting better teammates.

  • I played against a South African streamer once. When I watched their vod after the game, at one point I was chasing a Survivor that was totally invisible on their screen. They could rescue them off hook, but obviously couldn't heal them as they couldn't see where they were once they got off the hook. It was funny to watch.

I don't know if that's a ping related issue, but still it must be rough being sent to European servers all the time with 250+ ms ping.

While I'm glad to see they've added another UK server, it's kinda amusing that it more or less makes no difference to me anyway with it being in London, since I'm probably closer to the one in Dublin.

  • I might be one of the few people that actually doesn't mind if they add a few bots to this mode to make up the numbers (so long as we never get put into majority bot lobbies). I think as a casual quick hit of DBD it works really well and bots would be OK it they dramatically bring queue times down. The queues being so long for Killer completely defeats the point of the mode for me. I'm not queuing up for a game that might last less time than I spent sitting in the queue.

I'm more of a Survivor main anyway, so I don't have too much of an issue if I only get to play the Survivor side again. But I didn't enjoy the double team Killer strategy last time around and the mode felt a lot sweatier overall. If it's like that again, I might not play as much. It's also a bit of a downer that all my least favourite Killers are being added to the mode as a priority (first it was Spirit and Blight and now we have Nemi and Wesker too. Ugh).

  • Do you mean as in game cosmetics for Killers? Personally, I wouldn't like this.

The masks remove a layer of their humanity. It's a part of what makes them monstrous and scary.

  • Personally, I LOVE putting charms on all my Survivors. I do wish some of them were scaled a bit better to the different Survivor models. Some charms look way too bulky on my female Survivors but look just fine on my males.

I try to make collections themed around the Survivor (Claudette, for eample, has all plant themed charms and Feng has gaming related ones). Or I theme them for whatever event is currently on. But there are also charms that I use on most of my favourite Survivors because they're goated, like the Necronomicon one.

I'm still a bit sad that the tomes don't include unlockable charms anymore, only badges and banners. I don't personally care for those.

  • People are very weird about anon players in this game. In my experience, they really don't play any differently to the players that don't hide their names.

I play anonymously myself, just because I don't want my opponents or teammates to treat me any differently if we've played together before. Since it feels like at times there are only about 20 players on the UK servers, this happens more often than not.

  • This bug is rare, but it's also been in the game for a very long time. So it's unlikely that BHVR will ever Kill switch Legion because of it (or even be able to fix it anytime soon).

Worst thing is, for the Legion they might not have had this visual bug on their end and only the Survivors are able to see it. You just have to be more observant if this happens in another of your matches in future. If they have Never Sleep Pills, of course you won't be able to see a difference in speed for the first hit, but otherwise they will be faster. And try to listen out for the audio cue that tells you they've left their power. That's all you can do, really.

  • legionfits2025.png

These are my Legion fits right now. I don't know why, but something about the way that Joey wears that Rudolf mask just cracks me up. Maybe because I think Joey's always trying his best to look like the toughest Legion member and this mask subverts that a little.

I've got to be honest though, Susie's Lunar New Year skin with the Angsty Artist knife and mask are what my Legion wears 99% of the time. It's just by coinicidence that it's Lunar New Year right now. There's one or two from the mobile game that could maybe knock it off the top spot.

I'm also hoping to unlock the Julie skin in the new rift soon (and yes, it is Julie and not Susie like it claims to be. I don't know why, but BHVR always seem to mess something up when they bring out a new Legion cosmetic). I don't really like any of her skins that much, so it will be cool to play as her a little more often.

I really wish that they would have made a Mori system because it's honestly so boring seeing the same Mori over and over again.

I still do not know why they have not implemented one and it would actually spark interest in the game to see different moris. But no, seeing the same Mori constantly gets a little boring — at least to me.

I'm sure new purchasable moris are probably in the works and will be in the store one day. Adding the finisher Mori was just the first step.

If I'm grumpy and I don't feel like watching the Killer mori me, I'll just get up to go get some snacks or make a drink. It's not a big deal.

  • I've been tracking my last 12 Survivor games. I mostly ran a silly locker Dweet build (played 1 trial with an all stun perk build to do the Jane tome challenge), since I have more fun in this game when I run whatever builds I feel like and decide not to care too much if I win or not.

No one quit or gave up, aside from one game with a griefing swf that tried to get me killed because they saw me get into a locker (I guess?).

I died in 9 trials. One escape was a lucky hatch spawn, one was a chill Billy that I think was going to let us all go anyway and one was against a Trapper who locked someone down in the basement at endgame (the rest of the team went on a suicide rescue mission but I'm not that daft. Trapper got a 3K.) Trust me, running a meta build would not have made a difference in any of my games (except maybe against a Tunnelling Wesker. Oh, and a Huntress with Iron Maiden that made my entire build very risky). So that's 1 real escape in 12 SoloQ matches. Perhaps BHVR could buff Killer a little more to help?

  • I just find it funny that BHVR decided it was worth committing resources to nerfing an already kinda mid / situational perk when perks as terrible as Cut Loose, Slippery Meat, Up the Ante and No Mither exist in the game.

I wish they'd just left it alone, instead of making it much worse for the Survivors that actually used this perk.

  • As much as I enjoy the modifier and event modes (I play them pretty much exclusively), I don't enjoy the way they split the queues. The quality of the match making goes completely out the window whenever this happens in my region. But I do welcome the way they allow me to take breaks from the regular mode and help keep it feeling fresh for me.

And with no game play changes to the last Chaos Shuffle and not much to unlock in the Tome, I think the mode out stayed its welcome for a lot of players. Although I'm looking forward to 2 Vs 8, with the hope that my Killer main is finally added, I'm not looking forward to the 20 minute queues. I know many people are completely against the addition of bots in live trials, but for 2 Vs 8 it might be the only way to deal with the ridiculous queue times.

I second that. Before you'd get 100% bonus almost every evening on killer, and 100% survivor bonus in the midday. They must not have been a fan of that and changed the weighting for when you get the bonuses because now it's rare to ever get more than 50%, and having no bonus or 25% bonus is more common. Even during times when queues are almost instant for one side.

Yeah, I think 25% is the new 50% and 50% is the new 100%. I never see 100% anymore. I'm not sure why they've made BP more difficult to gain at times when not so many are playing. It was a nice bonus for those games that you know going in were likely to be pretty one-sided.

Maybe they want players to pick the roles they actually prefer and not to queue just because of the extra BP?

  • I don't know about slugging Freddy, just a regular Freddy using his power to TP to gens and to healing Survivors to tunnel has been more than enough to destroy my average teams so far. The timer for putting you back into the dream world ticks down way too fast in my opinion (and he has his power to hurry you along as well). So you spend much time running around interacting with clocks to avoid his TP abiliy before you can really do anything, before you know it there you are back in the dream world again. A pretty oppressive experience that reminds me of the first version of Skull Merchant once she'd locked down a map and the second version of Sadako with her condemned playstyle in terms of strength level. Personally, I'm not convinced he should be able to TP to healing Survivors at all.

So I can see him getting some pretty hefty nerfs in the not too distant future. Because there's no way a basic attack Killer like Freddy will be allowed to be this strong in the game for very long. So enjoy it while you can.

Before anyone hits me with the usual skill issue stuff, I'm just giving my opinion as an average to kinda bad Survivor. I don't think it'll matter if he struggles a bit against better Survivors. So does Legion and Trapper and I don't see those guys being given a Freddy grade buff anytime soon. The main problem with Freddy was that his power was so incredibly boring to use. Now it's actually fun, I don't think it would be too much of a serious issue if he got a few nerfs.

  • Here are mine:

I also think maps are used in matchmaking as a balancing tool. If you queue as Billy or Huntress, just to give an example, against a weaker team I think you're much more likely to get an indoor map and against a stronger team, a more open map where your powers are much stronger.

If you haven't escaped for a while and you're the last Survivor alive, a "lucky" hatch will be programmed to spawn right next to you.

We'll never get a Stranger Things Part 2 or a Squid Game chapter because the relationship with Netflix is bad and BHVR are still (understandably) sour about losing the Stranger Things license for so long.

BHVR are afraid to buff The Legion because of how hated their earlier iterations were. Once they get Skull Merchant to the point that Survivors don't insta DC on her anymore, they will never touch her again. These Killers are gonna be D tier for life.

The new Ormond Lake Mine map is from a cancelled The Thing chapter.

  • I'm happy to see Legion get a pretty nice skin on the free track (it's been a while since one of my mains got something neat in the rift). I know it's only a recolour, but I think it might actually be better looking than the original.

All the Killer ones are really good in this rift, to be fair. Especially the Blight, that one's particularly scary looking. The Survivor ones are not my style, but I do like the Thalita and Yun-Jin fits and they're the only ones I would actually use.

Overall, I think it might be the strongest rift we've had for quite a while, even if it's not 100% my cup of tea.

  • Whoops. Already reported (someone beat me to it).

    Please delete this report.

  • I'm starting to think BHVR have been tinkering with the incentives to try something different, but they haven't felt the need to announce anything. It's rare for me to see 100% on either role now, even though the queue times are much the same as they were (instant Killer queues / longer Survivor queues at night with the reverse in the daytime).

It's made me realise how much I followed the 100% bonus.

  • @jajay119 said:

I agree DBD has far bigger issues. Also, like I said in a previous thread, until now BHVR’s philosophy has been ‘survivors can play as selfishly or as altruistically as they want’. This is literally the excuse they give every time someone calls for them to remove death by unhooking. What’s the difference though? The former allows and escape for survivors whilst the latter offers a sacrifice for killers. That’s legitimately the only reason I can think of why they’ve done such a double back from a buff to double the perk to a nerf to half it. People were clearly stacking Wake Up and Sole Survivor in the PTB and opening the doors too quickly. But id argue by that point, if you’re the only survivor left it’s fair game.

I’d also like to point out that not everyone who takes a WU and SS combo will be a ‘rat’ but there are far more survivors out there who seem to think they’re better at looping and stunning than they are. Or ones that race across the map to unhook when they’re still injured and on death hook rather than allowing the uninjured team mate who has only been hooked once to take the risk. There are way more of these players than the ‘rats’.

I tried the SS and WU combo for a while for this very reason, but I always do gens, I always unhook and pick up even if there’s only two of us and if the killer is trying to proxy. I just took it off because really it’s so situational you’re only ever really going in with two perks.

Survivors like this drive me crazy. Sometimes I'll be across the map on a gen and see my entire team go down in a matter of seconds and I just know it's because someone foolishly unhooked too early against a camping Killer or messed up a beamer / pallet save. And I know they'll also be expecting me to cross the map to try and salvage the situation and I'll likely get myself killed in the process. Most of the time I will, but can anyone really blame me if I sometimes don't feel like doing that and I decide to leave them all dangling on the hook?

In most of my trials, I'd honestly take a productive yet stealthy Survivor who doesn't want to take aggro over a wannabe Ayrun with a beamer who gets in the Killer's face, overestimates their abilities and then ends up dead.

    @[Deleted User] said:

I touched on this in another thread, but I think the devs have the causation completely backwards here.

Players aren't playing like "rats" because it's effective or fun. They're doing it to salvage unwinnable situations. Wake Up or not, there is still ZERO reason for survivors to work on a generator or participate in normal gameplay during most 3v1 and 2v1 situations. It just prolongs a lost game. The gens are not going to get done. It's actively detrimental to your chances of survival to do anything but hide.

I have a hard time fathoming that the devs would be blind to that. You can nerf Wake Up, but that doesn't change how utterly pointless it is for me to save anyone or do 15% of a gen in a 3v1 with 3 gens remaining. This obsession with locking in results at the 5 minute mark and extending the game to 12 minutes has to stop.

I wonder if the gen progress comeback mechanic they implemented into 2 Vs 8 might one day make it into the main game? If BHVR want survivors to fight to the bitter end as a team, they're going to have to do something to help Survivors to make a comeback in those hopeless situations when the Killer has 1 dead and 6-8 hooks at 3-4 gens remaining. Plus maybe give Survivors extra communication tools like a chat wheel. I bet a lot of Killer players would absolutely hate that.

  • I honestly think it works so poorly that it's not even worth bringing up in discussions most of the time. It must do "something" I guess…

Over the last week, I could not lose a game as Legion playing in Chaos Shuffle. Since the second page of the Tome opened, every single match has been incredibly hard work to get even a 2K out of the trial. Of course, I get useless perks sometimes, I misplay and I'm not playing super sweaty or that differently to usual, but any functioning system should be giving me matches that are somewhere in the middle. The system should be matching me with teams that are slightly worse and slighty better, but the system rarely seems to do so. The skill gaps are typically huge, sometimes from the space of one trial to the next.

As far as I understand it, the event queue doesn't alter your MMR. So how can I be getting such radically different experiences within the space of a week if the system is meant to work in any meaningful way?

  • I find the perfomance to be mostly "OK" in handheld mode on my Switch Lite, but pretty terrible when playing docked on my regular Switch. And by OK I just mean that the frame rate is a stable 30fps for the most part. Survivor fairs a little better than Killer on both Switches but they're still pretty rough experiences overall.

I always have a little chuckle to myself whenever I see a streamer claim to be doing a "hardcore" Killer or Survivor challenge. They don't know harcore until they've tried playing either role on the Switch. I know it's commonly accepted that Solo Q is the hardest mode to play in this game, but I think it's more like playing Killer on Switch, then playing Solo Q Survivor on Switch, then Solo Q on all the other platforms.

I really hope the Switch 2 is a lot better performance wise.

  • Things I want to see:

    • Rework of the daily ritual system to be more like other live service games (e.g. new daily / weekly / monthly challenges that can be worked towards throughout the month and reward players with BP or a small amount of Iri shards)
    • More customisation slots for multiple builds / cosmetic load outs. Three was probably fine when the game first came out, but there's so much more content in 2025 and it would be neat to be able to save more of our favourites.
    • Better rewards for Survivors under the emblem system. Especially in the Survival category, which gives you next to nothing if you don't Survive, meaning I very rarely earn more than 15K per trial. Now that the incentive rarely exceeds 50%, it's especially unrewarding to play Survivor at times.
    • A solution to 4 man slugging and slugging for the 4K play styles. Not super common occurances, but still frustrating to encounter.
    • Vaulting perks to work with Legion's Feral Frenzy. Or alternatively, Frank's Mixtape to be made basekit and reworked into a dedicated vaulting speed add-on (20% vaulting speed over pallets and windows. Could also be token based if a flat 20% is considered too strong).
    • Legion added to 2 Vs 8.

Things I want to see but think are very unlikely in 2025:

    • Content / chapters from my personal wishlist of IPs (Ghostbusters, Gremlins, Stranger Things Part 2, Evil Dead Part 2, Jurassic Park, Terminator).
    • Susie (or another member of the Legion) to enter the fog as a Survivor.
    • The Distortion nerf reverted and Self-Care buffed. I don't use Distortion personally, but I still think they were wrong to nerf it.

Edit: Oh, and I forgot. Better performance / optimisations for the Switch and other consoles. Please also make certain maps less dark on Switch (you can barely see anything downstairs on the new Borgo map).

  • Why do people think that whatever solution BHVR comes up with to address slugging, it will "remove player agency"? I'm sure I don't need to remind anyone here but:

    • You can still tunnel someone out, despite basekit BT existing.
    • While you can't face camp so easily anymore (unless you are Bubba or Tombstone Myers), you can of course still very effectively proxy camp.
    • You can still defend a 3 gen, you just can't defend one indefinitely and stall the game until the server times out.

I've been able to do all of these things to start making kills whenever I've felt them to be necessary. These mechanics being in the game haven't affected my agency when playing Killer at all. They've just made them more counterable for Survivors and less free of risk to Killers when they use such strategies. I swear there are some Killer players out there that won't be happy until they can 4K in every single trial.

Why don't we wait and see what solution BHVR has for the 4 man slugging strategy that has emerged before worrying about the threat it might pose to player agency?

If I have an idea as to why other asyms are not so popular, it would be because they don't already have 8 years of licensed and original content for players to delve into and play around with. They also tend to be tied to using content from one exclusive franchise and that can get pretty stale after a while. DBD's simple gameplay mechanics, cheaper price and ability to run (mostly OK) on something as low tech as a Nintendo Switch are also things that work very well in its favour.

    *Edits for spelling mistakes.

I've been playing it and having a great time overall on both sides. The game is 10 times more fun when you don't play against the same small group of perks every single match.

Every time chaos shuffle has been available I've played it exclusively (as in, not playing normal mode at all) until it's over and this time is no different

I feel the same way. This is easily my favourite modifier of them all and I usually have loads of fun playing it. There may be some players that seem to want to spoil the fun for everyone else, but when it's good it's really good.

  • It does feel like it's much less popular this time around. My queues for Survivor are usually pretty long (even with the incentive at 50%) but the Killer queue is typically instant with no wait at all.

I also find myself playing either against or with the same players fairly often. I think my local server is probably one of the less populated ones though, player number wise (UK/Ireland).

Edit: But I couldn't tell you how that compares to the regular queue because I don't play standard DBD during events / modifiers.

  • chaosshufflebleedout.jpg

Today I've had a houndmaster that bled me out for absolutely no reason (even returned to give me a nod), a tunnelling Wraith at 5 gens and a Houndmaster that 4 man slugged the entire team at 1 gen remaining. She got the 4K with the finisher mori that she wanted if you're wondering.

So yeah, I think I'm good for playing Survivor in Chaos Shuffle now. I might even be done with Survivor entirely if things don't improve soon.

  • I don't think BHVR want people to think about their MMR at all, tbh. This is pretty clear evidence to me that the game leans more towards a casual game than a competitive one. I don't think a game with so many random elements and imbalances could ever be considered a "serious" competitive game.

I actually think lots of maps intentionally favour one side or the other as a mechanism for smoothing out potential mismatches. For example, if you're a skilled Billy and the system matches you up with a weaker team, then the map selector will be more likely to send you to an indoor map like Lery's. I have no evidence for this theory of course, it's just a hunch of mine.

I admit I'm a little bit curious about what my MMR rank might be, but I don't care to go through all that bother to get a JSON file containing a bunch of meaningless, out of context numbers. DBD is the kind of game in which you can beat much better opponents than you. You can stack way too many things in your favour for your MMR to be an accurate reflection of your skills.

I do think it is a bit weird that the grade system is public yet has no bearing on match making. I often see newer players on reddit think they've reached the top ranks when they hit Iri grade, only to be told that the grade is not a rank at all. This is not well communicated to players at all and can be a little confusing when you're getting started. Adding yet another ranking would probably just cause more confusion to more casual gamers that might play only a few games a week.

I don't even jump in a locker except for very specific scenarios. Having played this game for a long time I have invested a lot of time really learning loop possibilities to an extend that the majority simply can't be bothered to do. That's why I am confident in using all of my available tools as a survivor, both stealth and open confrontation aka looping the killer.

As you say it's an astronomical endeavor to really learn this by yourself, let alone in the chaotic environment that soloQ is and therefore it's very obvious that stealth will be pretty much the only defense a casual player has. In many cases survivors even want to get immersed in it and do not want to consider the gameplay that emerges when stealth is not an option.

A skilled player will have the option between stealth and action, an unskilled player does not really have that option yet, if ever.

For me personally I find myself successfully applying stealth to turn a situation in my favor even when I don't use perks. Sometimes it does not work, either due to the killer finding me naturally or the killer utilizing an aura reading perk. In both cases I am not necessarily mad, it is what it is. But I only think about it like that because the other aspect of the game is just as nice to me.

To your last paragraph, it is interesting because I believe the total opposite is the case, namely that the giving up epidemic as many people call it can only really be addressed once BHVR understands (read: acts upon in a meaningful way) the true state of the game. I largely believe that we are talking about two different games. Two different Dead by Daylights. And that's precisely why a balancing is hard to find, if not impossible to bring about in such a way that everyone is satisfied.

There are indeed many different DBD experiences, which makes the game difficult to balance for everyone. But ultimately, I think BHVR should balance for fun above all else and I don't think a lot of Survivors are enjoying the game right now. So maybe you're right about finding out why players are giving up so often.

Especially with regards to the Survivor experience. If you're asking players to choose a side that's going to lose more often than not, there has to be a better reward for your time than less than 15K bloodpoints and maybe, if you're lucky, a decent shot at hatch (assuming the Killer doesn't tunnel / camp you out of the game or slug for the 4K to deny you even that opportunity).

Splitting the queues is a continuing issue, imho. I rarely lose a Killer game with my main in Chaos Shuffle right now because the system is struggling to find me suitable opponents (likewise, Survivor escapes are rare).

  • chaosperks.jpg

I haven't had any interesting builds yet, but have you ever seen so many perks active at the same time on the HUD? The Wesker also had the Houndmaster perk that's like Merciless Storm for healing (making a total of 8 icons) but I was too busy hitting the skill checks to take a screenshot. That was kinda funny.

  • @Interrupt_Vector said:

That is why you have to expect it, which means you are required to know the perks and possibilities.

Even with aura reading the killer still has to catch you, and if you have played accordingly, the aura reading will not always lead to a hit.

Now, does it ruin the stealth aspect? In some cases absolutely yes. I personally believe that the increase in aura reading perks for killers is due to the speed at which the game is played according to whatever data BHVR has, and there is a lot of data to consider. A LOT.

I have addressed this in a different thread already and I will probably make a new thread eventually when I get around to it, but I believe that discussing the balancing for public lobbies and soloQ in particular is, at least at this point in time, not leading anywhere due to the fact that the public match experience is not defined well enough. Trying to impose order on chaos will only lead to more chaos here.

EDIT: spelling mistake, keep the rest

Oh yeah, I've definitely gotten into the habit of jumping into a locker if one is available anytime I face a high mobility / teleporting Killer. There's always a very good chance of BBQ being in play.

I just don't like the direction the game is going with regards to the overall nerfing of the stealth playstyle, as brighter maps with less places to hide and aura reading perks become more of the norm. Also, I think the content creators and streamers that have BHVR's ear don't understand that for more the casual Survivor players, hiding is usually the more optimal way to play. The time and knowledge required to learn how to loop well is astronomical, but pretty much everyone knows how to hide. Of course, excessive hiding is a problem for the game's health and that needs to be dealt with too (especially when the last 2 Survivors are hardcore stealthing around the map and refusing to touch gens).

That said, I think the problem with giving up is the number 1 thing to be addressed before BHVR can get a really good understanding of the true state of the game. I have a feeling that a lot of balancing is being made around SWFs who give up less and tend to be the more reliable / gen focused teammates. Of course, you have some cases when a duo will give up an otherwise winable game because their buddy died before they did. But overall, these Survivors are much less likely to be in games with players that let go on hook without the decency to give their team a bot, because you wouldn't SWF with a Survivor who played that way for long.

  • Chaos Shuffle has made me realise how much I dislike Killer aura reading perks and how wrong BHVR were to nerf Distortion into the ground. It's just playing the game autopilot mode when it comes to hunting for Survivors and it more or less shuts down the stealth aspect of the game completely. You don't know that they have aura reading until it's too late.

You could say the similar things about Windows of Opportunity being autopilot mode for Survivors, but they still need to be able to loop to make use of that perk. Any time I've gotten windows, it hasn't increased my chase times because I don't know how to loop.

  • Here are mine:

    dbd2024stats.png

This gives me an escape rate of 35% (better than I expected) and a hook rate of 7.4 hooks per game.

I'm assuming these are just my stats for the regular mode across both Switch and Steam. Although I'm sure I've played more hours than this overall, since if there's an event or modifier on, I pretty much play those exclusively or I don't play the game at all.

  • Probably Xeno is the main one I wished I could enjoy more. You need pinpoint accuracy with the tail and that just isn't possible on controller (not to me, anyway). Meanwhile, Huntress gets 7 chances to hit you with a hatchet the size of a bus… I sometimes wish BHVR didn't have to balance Killers for both PC and console / controller players, because I'm sure the comparatively high skill ceiling on PC is the reason for quite a few of their nerfing / buffing decisions.

And I also don't play Pyramid Head at all. He's trapped on my Switch and I'm not enough of a masochist to subject myself to playing Killer on Switch.

I enjoy Chucky and Billy less than I used to since their most recent nerfs. And there are a few other Killers that have very fun powers (Demo, Huntress, Slinger, Oni) but I'm so bad with them I end up losing and feeling frustrated. I just play these guys for the daily rituals now.

Don't get me wrong, I am really happy about Chaos Shuffle because it is my favourite modifier but I am a little bit disappointed that there is nothing new. They said it would be a DnD Chaos Shuffle but we only have a banner, charm, and badges. That's it. nothing more DnD themed - yes of cause new cosmetics which I am happy for the mains but we would get them anyway.

Maybe my hopes were to high but I was kinda hoping for random themed builds (healer, chase, info ect.), that could be pretty cool - they made seven unique builds for halloween and something like this I was hoping for. It would be also cool if we had the temporary events back which we had during the anniversary event (speed, healing, exposed) but for DnD where after a hook/gen something happens based on the dice. Even more funnier if after a gen/hook either the killer or survivor builds switch to a new one - I wasn't hoping for this because that would be too much for the devs but I find the idea funny.

It's also a bit sad that map offerings are still allows and not disables even though in like 2h of playing, I had only one map offering but still there are 11 days left. I really hope they will diable them because no one likes them. It is also really easy to disable them because the developers can disable something specific. The BP Bonus was also mostly +50% on killer which was nice but basekit +100% would be really cool for both sides.

I'm not too bothered about the map offerings this time around, because since they made sac wards a brown offering I have plenty on most of my mains now. I also thought it would be a bigger deal than a handful of cosmetics to unlock in the tome and some new outfits to buy in the shop. I though they might add a load of vecna's chests to the trials and make is so they rolled a dice to determine the rarity of the item inside. At least a little something to add a bit extra to the mode.

Although I do think BHVR should make add-ons and items totally randomised, I also feel pretty thankful that as a Legion main I can bring the Fuming Mixtape add-on (to guarantee some gen regression) and the Stolen Sketchbook (for when I see a lobby full of flashlights). I know not all Killers are so lucky with their add-ons, however.

To be honest, in Chaos Shuffle I rarely ever do well with my other Killers. I'm probably just not skilled enough with them to remain competitve without much gen defense. Especially not since they got nerfed, anyway (Chucky and Billy are my next most played Killers).

I've literally never activated it. The survivors would have to be throwing, or you would (by prioritizing Frenzy hits over everything else). Legion requires 2 Frenzy speed/time/distance add-ons just for it to be a good ability, so there's no way an add-on that only actives at the very end will be good for him.

To get it to work, you basically have to bring a full endgame build and gamble on either being matched with terrible survivors or turning the match around with a snowball right at the end. It's definitely not an add-on that I'd run very often, but it can be fun to go zooming around the map in the endgame. More of a "meme" add-on, imho.

I do like the idea of add-ons that are token based though, and I hope that BHVR add more to the game in the future.

  • It is a legitimate tactic in certain circumstances, though. Like if I get a Survivor with Boil Over on an indoor map, there's no hook in sight and I'm not running Iron Grasp, I'm sorry but they are getting slugged. Or if I get the opportunity to put everyone on the ground because they're swarming around the hook for a sabo / breakout play, then I'm obviously going to take that.

But I do think both unprovoked 4 man slugging and doing it for the 4K are problematic for the game's health. Plus, there are Killers like Oni and Twins that have powers which incentivise a slugging play style (and since the recent Twins rework didn't go so well, I doubt they want to touch them again for a while).

  • As far as I understand it, it won't matter how much they derank on your account because they'll never be put into the testing bracket that DBD (supposedly) has for completely brand new players.

For that reason, I agree with Shroompy and think a new account would probably be a much better way to start them off. It's a good time to start playing since there should be lots of new players from the recent Bone Chill Event.

When I started playing on Switch before cross progression was a thing, it only took about 10 games to find myself in a similar MMR band (though probably a slightly lower one) to my PC account on both Survivor and Killer, but the games were definitely different for a little while.

  • Sometimes it's very obvious to a Killer if a teammate has been doing nothing at all, but at other times they might be extra stealthy yet still progressing the game. Like others have said, the problem is that the Killer will often think you've done nothing at all if they haven't seen you all game, even if you've been productive and popped 3 gens and made 2 saves. So it doesn't take much for the other Survivor to convince the Killer to team up to say "hey, this Survivor did nothing so let me get hatch".

Ideally, Survivors should be good at both looping and stealth, since they're both important aspects of the game play. I think a lot of Survivors neglect the stealth aspect because it's not how their favourite 10,000 hour streamer plays and they don't play cautiously enough. I've played games when I've been the best looper on the team, ended up with no hooks while my team has ended up with 2 each, yet I doubt a Survivor would sell me out to the Killer in this situation, even though the end result is the same as if I'd played it safe and stealthy. Stealth play styles get no respect in the DBD community, hence the nerf to Distortion. Unfortunate, but it is what it is.

tl;dr: Some Survivors will get mad at you if you hide in the hide and seek video game.

I know of his appearance in Soul Calibur, but no nothing of the lore why he's there and I don't count fortnight for anything since its the biggest mess of characters of almost everything can think of even if they clearly don't belong there.

Vecna choose to enter the Entity realm to study it for his own gains, but had to agree on the Entity mark that restricts his power. Vader? There's no way the Entity will be able to lie, trick or force him if he doesn't want to. Only if there's a reason Vader wants to be part of the trials.

Vader could be tempted into the fog if the Entity took Obi-wan as a Survivor.

Personally though, I think Darth Sideous would be a much better choice for a DBD Killer. He's irredeemably evil and he loves it (plus, there's a chance maybe Ian McDairmid would do some voice lines). And we already have a regular evil wizard, so why not an evil space wizard, too?

In any case, I think BHVR could make a Star Wars chapter work for the game. I'd much rather see that than the upcoming FNAF chapter (which is only about as horror as a Goosebumps book anyway).

  • I don't think much can be learned from 400 or so games, tbh.

But I am still a little bit sad that BHVR couldn't find a way to make OG release Chucky work. He's not currently super weak or anything, I'm just not a huge fan of this nerfed second iteration of his power. He lost a lot of his character when they changed him and his scamper feels mostly useless now.

  • I think it's fine for the PTB.

But if they bring this to live or the events, I don't look forward to being in "bot lobby MMR". But on the plus side, at least they will do gens. I don't know how I feel about this. I do play other PVP games that have a lot of bots in them (Fortnite and Star Wars: Hunters) and that doesn't really affect my enjoyment of those games, but for DBD part of the hook is the surprising, funny (and sometimes infuriating) ways that your teammates and opponents might behave. And it would feel very lonely to be the only human in a lobby. At that point, you may as well be playing a single player game.

I wonder if they'll tailor them to the MMR of the lobby, with low MMR getting the potato type bots currently on live and high MMR getting the god loopers that you typically VS in custom games.

  • As others have said, forcing them out is always an option.

It depends on the Killer, but I'll either find somewhere to practice my power if I don't feel like getting bagged at today (like a neat structure where I can vault a bunch of windows as Legion) or I'll go to the gate to see if I can get at least one of them for a funny you should have just left moment. Deathslinger is quite a good choice for this.

It also helps to remind yourself that a lot of the player base are barely out of their teens and they act like it. It still kinda stinks, but eventually you just don't care about this sort of thing.

  • The game doesn't track the total number of Survivor games played, so I've had to guesstimate based on the total amount of generators I've repaired.

So based on repairing 1 generator per trial (obviously, there will be trials when I don't repair any generators or when I might repair 3), I have a personal escape rate of around about 20%. I can't tell from that figure how well my team did, but from what we think we know about SBMMR, that probably doesn't matter to the match making system anyway.

  • @Rudjohns said:

Object of Obsession already does that (aura) and its even better because you will see their aura as well

Killer Instinct will never notify survivors

But OoO is paid DLC and has the pretty big downside of revealing your aura to the Killer. As a not very good looper, I avoid this perk since it's an open invitation to the Killer to tunnel you out of the game petty quickly.

Why would it be such a bad idea to add a perk that alerts Survivors to Killer Instinct? I don't think it would be too unbalanced and mostly of benefit to newer players.

After all, more experienced Survivors know that Onryo's condemned, Legion's Feral Frenzy and Wesker's sprays etc will trigger Killer instinct, but newer players can often be caught out by the mechanic (I giggle to myself every time I pull a clueless Survivor out of a locker while in Frenzy).

  • I might be the only person that likes the way this perk currently works, but this is still a pretty neat idea.

I think it would be better as a separate new general perk, though. Since Stranger Things returned to the game, new Survivors have had 6 less perks to play with than what I started out with. We could do with a few new ones, especially ones that can teach you things about the game when you use them.

  • It makes sense to remove crouch techs.

But if I'm being totally honest, crouch techs are all I've got in my bag of tricks against these Killers.

@UndeddJester @tjt85 you probably know it already but highly recommend Nagai Yume (Long Dream) by Junji Ito!

I have a nearly complete collection of his English language publications, including some of the older Dark Horse collections. Like I said, I'm a fan. Yeah, I would recommend that one too. But his best work (and the best introduction imho) is probably Uzumaki.

    I genuinely think he's a genius.

TBH, I believe the only reason people hate facing Spirit is she always runs back to hook and tunnels hard, and there isn't a lot you can do if that's what she wants to do… if you don't do that she is kinda hard to play and I find her quite a bit of fun to face. 😁

Be the Spirit you'd want to face dude ^^

My problem is more to do with my stubborn refusal to wear headphones when playing this game (or any game). I don't want all that screaming and all those exploding noises pumped into my ears, so I'm usually just left guessing where she is at a loop and most of the time I guess wrong.

I don't doubt she takes a lot of skill to play well, though.

  • I'm a huge Junji Ito fan, so I'm really happy to see some of his creations come into the fog (even if it is only as a collection of skins).

They all fit the Killers / Survivors that they've chosen to adapt really well. The only down side for me is that I wish they were for Killers that I actually play as. I can see why they chose to adapt The Spirit for Tomie, but she could have easily been a Dredge skin as well. And Black Bird would have been a really good fit for The Artist.

I guess I could try playing some Spirit games… I usually avoid playing Killers that I don't enjoy facing as Survivor, but this skin could tempt me over to the dark side.
