  • No, that was updated by Not_Queen at just after 11 AM less than an hour before the blog post was supposed to come out.

According to survivor mains, there are more killers than survivors now.

Well lets see there's a new killer that just came out which tends to inflate the killer population for a time before it goes back to the usual population balance. There's also RDR2, Fallout76 etc so since there's more survivors than killer people are playing those.

  • @Master said:

Messages still pop up if you have your profile on private, the onyl thing a private profile does is hiding your profile, hours friends etc

While true people generally don't check messages in game if their profile is set to private since they don't want to get distracted. It drives me nuts when my notification alert starts spamming right in the middle of a game.

It depends on if the profile is set to private mine is to deter trolls and has been for a long time and quite a few players on both sides in my matches done the same.

In the case of the person is known to the killer they can message them or if it's a streamer that's even easier.

Well survivors can set their profile to private too and afaik, you can still message a player with private profile, so....?

Yes as I said both sides can and do set their profiles to private and you even if you message them since they're set to private. They might not see it if they're notifications are off while in game or they don't have overlay enabled or aren't checking.

You also have to deal with sometimes lobby times are quick enough that you won't be able to see the notification in time.

I understood that as well, but you're asking for a reasonable timetable but if they say 2 days and then the fix is worse than the original or takes longer they get accused of lying. They haven't given a timetable because they don't know yet.

Not from me: it is clear that between the planning and the realization of an intervention, many unforeseen events can occur. As soon as they have a clear idea of the times, they will answer, and my simple curiosity will be satisfied: there is no urgency.

Perhaps not from you but given the ahem past events where they gave a timetable and then things went awry they've learned to simply wait to be certain. The Clown chapter release is a prime example.

  • @Tsulan said:

Ok, let's introduce this block feature.
I guarantee you, that more survivors than killers make use of it. Simply by the fact, that killers don't need to block survivors to avoid playing against them.

You really want those times back, when MLGA was on it's highest point?

Well given that there's more survivors than killers it's stand to reason logically that more survivors than killer would use it. But perhaps killers need a taste of the issue they faced before when MLGA was at it's peak so they'd stop lobby dodging.

I've been in countless full solo q lobbies where the moment anyone loads in with or equips a single item the killer dodges. Oh they've got all the achievements dodge, bright clothing dodge, key dodge, map dodge etc.

  • @Entità said:

Let me be clear, I have no intention to make the developers rush: I only ask for a reasonable estimate of waiting times, which I will willingly accept for the good of this magnificent game. :)

I understood that as well, but you're asking for a reasonable timetable but if they say 2 days and then the fix is worse than the original or takes longer they get accused of lying. They haven't given a timetable because they don't know yet.

Once they've got a fix that looks reasonably stable they'll announce a reasonable timetable ie 2 days or next week on normal patch days.

It also has to go through the certification process on platforms if it's something major.

  • To add something I forgot for me I'm not good at looping and so the chase while exciting is almost always going to end badly. I love to stealth around the map, especially on like say Autohaven where you try and sneak through the middle without being seen let alone caught.

That to me evading the killer and enver being seen the entire match is fun and exciting and some killers hate that and so do fellow survivors. I'm not trying to give the killer an easy kill and I'm not trying to die like the people that blindly run in the middle in the open.

If I skulk around the entire map and don't get seen a lot of times I get props from the killer because they know they've been close, ie that gen I was working on or the totem I just broke. Sometimes they manage to get me and both sides get satisfaction knowing it wasn't easy.

  • @Orion said:
This is always a bad idea. It's not up to your opponents to play by your imaginary (non-game) rules and your definition of "fun". Not only are most of them incapable of reading your mind and know, in advance, what your imaginary (non-game) rules and definition of fun are, but your opponent has no obligation to make PvP fun for you.
If you want people to follow your imaginary rules and care about your definition of fun, you're free to play KYF.

Well they can also make their own software company and do the same. 😁

  • I like @Incarnate 's idea of uniques similar to how they're unique already but if you go that route Claudette would be a huge choice since Self Care. Throw in sWf and they all take the best unique perk combo's possible and you'd have real issues.

The advantage to the perks being teachable is you don't basically just have all of 1 character but people can pick that bright Nea or that buffed David. If you made 1 perk unique to each character the benefits would have to be better than what they are now but now too good to where it's a must.

  • @Master said:

  • You know I'd love for them to actually remove DS from the game so the vocal minority couldn't use it as an excuse anymore. It's not as rampant as they claim it's not a 4 man swf depip squad running DS/AD/SB/DH insert w/e excuse perk needed all the time either.

Is it annoying, yes is it impossible to deal with no, do 4 people have it in every match no, do killers have options yes. If you constantly are blaming 1 perk for your gameplay issues then that'd infer you're part of the problem and not just the perk.

Because lets face it as soon as they remove this killers will simply go back to the same old wheel of complaints excuses they rotate through. SC/SB/UE/AD/DH/NM/TB/Flashlights/medkits etc etc etc.

  • @Tsulan said:
Because survivors would block good killers, because they got outplayed.
    System would be heavily abused.

Yes because it's always the evil survivors that'd abuse this and not killers that we know for a fact are just as likely to use it because they got outplayed.

I know you're heavily biased and all but at least you could try and not be so obvious about it. 😁

Well the patch just recently came out and they've said they don't want to knee jerk reaction changes but stead improvements.

Most of the issues aren't game breaking per se and some of it's related to the latest Unreal Engine update so most likely in the next 6 days or so.

The game crash one is a pretty big deal, especially since it happens after offerings have already been burnt...

Yes, but it's also not something super easily fixed and throwing something out there hastily always backfires which is why they need to test it internally and then make sure the fix isn't worse.

  • @Entità said:
@powerbats Maybe I expressed myself badly. I do not speak of changes in the balance of Legion's power and the like, which require observation and weighting times: I refer only to the restoration of the new map (particularly fitting with the Christmas atmosphere), the removal of bugs and crashes (a lot of them have been reported in the proper section of this forum) and the correction of some errors in the localization (I cannot tell you about other languages, but some choices in the Italian translation are seriously confusing and problematic, especially for new users). However, six days are far preferable to having to wait until after the Epiphany: playing the whole Winter Solstice event without the Ormond Resort would be sad, for example. :(

Now worries I assumed that was part of what you were referring to which is why i encompassed the overall issues in my response.

  • Time of the day played is a big reason why since I used to play against the same 4-5 killers between 2-3am PSt and with the same pool of around 19 or so other survivors.

    Its a design issue.
I still dont know why BHVR believes that this is sth they wanna achieve

It's an issue created by bad design. But I guess you could say it's both a design issue and a game balance issue, as they're tied with one another. The weird thing is that it was stated on devstream #59, and in stating it they're acknowledging that it affects this way, and yet they haven't done anything to try and fix this. Bandaid solutions isn't enough, as it is a fundamental issue, so to solve it they have to make fundamental changes that directly affects the issue, changes like those I suggested.

Well they've also acknowledged that they want to make those changes but that's not going to happen quickly though since if everything gets changed at once it'd be too great an upheaval. Think of it not as band aid fixes but as gradual changes to fix things without breaking other things.

You also have the code changes due to the ahem spaghetti code which is why they've went to the new Unreal Engine. That allows them to do more coding related stuff and change more stuff at the same time without breaking too many things at once.

The issue with perk tiers is if you change them t just 1 tier you take away the power of leveling and advancement. The bloodweb at that point becomes kinda meaningless as a gate because now you've got no way to burn off that excess bp that has any real meaning.

If you keep tiers but lower the difference between them too much you risk homogenization too much to where it becomes stale. You could probably tweak addons power with certain perks easier probably but then you've got the other issues. The ones player level difference, experience, familiarity with the character they're playing and their perks etc.

Fix 1 is a great idea you'd still have the issue with tier levels.which you address in fix 2.

Fix 2 is also good but if you go full tier III to say a level 20 character level I they get the power and benefit of a top of the line perk but without the knowledge. The advantage to the tier levels now is that they get to level up as the player does in game knowledge.

As you realized fixing the issues with 1 and 2 might either be impossible or just really difficult which leads to a cost benefit analysis. It might end up being that instead of the current system with tweak like you suggest a new and improved system in it's place is better.

  • Yes I can just see the Gideon's offering spam now, no need to bring longer range addons you get it for free instead or bering them. Then you can cover the whole map tile and even the larger maps he could just then literally walk down the middle.

Bringing the longer range addons means you're buffing his power range by change, or you can go for quicker madness it's a trade off.

  • Well the patch just recently came out and they've said they don't want to knee jerk reaction changes but stead improvements.

It isn't allowed as I stated above and the devs have stated multiple times, it's not on their approved list. They've stated multiple times they won't ban you for using it but EAC will. Once dedicated servers come out they'd be able to detect it running since for it to work it'd have to access code on the server.

Its allowed since the devs said if EAC bans you we are not going to unban you. And EAC support already confirmed using MLGA is safe and no ban = Allowed in DBD

the only way to stop this is the devs needs to blacklist it completely, but they won't and leave it to EAC. EAC thinks its fine so everyone can abuse it no problem, since they have devs permission

Wrong, EAC has said they don't actively scan for it but if their system detects it and bans you for it it's not going to be overturned. So in fact you can and will be banned for it and thus the devs won't unban you.

Saying EAC said it's safe is nonsense since what they said is what I typed that they don't actively scan for it but if it's flagged you get banned. Which means it's not allowed in DBSD if you get banned for it so stop trying to squirm your way in with it.

Now to put the proverbial technical nail in your logical fallacies argument here.since for it to work when dedicated servers come out it'd have to bypass how the servers handle data. Since the servers won't be transmitting user data with the type of info it needs it won't work.

So since it won't have access to the type of data it needs it can't work unless it's modified in such a way that it becomes a hack or it attempts to hatch the servers. If it becomes workable on dedicated servers those using it will thus be banned either by EAC or BHVR pretty much instantly.

Can you please at least check how MLGA works and maybe edit your post, because what you typed right there just blows my mind from a technical point of view.

Perhaps you should check how dedicated servers handle data because then you'd realize that with the way DBD works MLGA won't. Since the server will be hosting all the data and will be matching people up, MLGA won't have access to any of that information.

The only thing MLGA will see is yes there's a game available but it won't see who's who because the server won't be trnasmitting that info like P2P does now.

This is similar to how Riot games changed it's API to prevent sites from having access to game data before games had actually started, I.E. LolKing etc.

It happens on occasion but mostly if the killer and survivor per chance knew each-other in-beforehand.

yes but there is a chance that they Realize the language used on their profiles and they find that they are in the same country and try to add each other and farm!

That chance is so low though. I've only been part of it once or twice during the last months, and that is including the halloween event.

True! but if you are seeking a perfection in a game , you need to fix every single hole that may cause a problem!

True, but it's costs versus benefits analysis at the moment how often does it happen versus what it'd cost and then you have consoles where they can see it still.

That said with dedicated servers hosting the info it probably won't be visible beyond just names anyways so no profile clicking.

  • Most of the time it's rare to get farmed and more likely to do farming for double bps etc and usually they check it to see if you're a premade or have gotten achievements done.

I know that Reshade or Sweetfx are ok but they're also suspected in a lot of the crashes that're video related from before the latest patch by several weeks since I'd been having issues that turned out to be video card related.

  • Trapper, Hag, Pig all love thickened mists offerings even Myers does especially with the new changes. For your other killers you want less mist and the same is true for survivors facing certain killers the difference being is they can't see which killer they're getting.

  • @ygnea What are your system specs ie video card/ram/os etc?

Are your drivers all up to date as well and is this a desktop or laptop and do you have any error logs/crash reports?

If you get a crash before relaunching the game get the crash log from here and post it since it gets overwritten if you don't.

Check your AppData/Local/DeadByDaylight/Saved/Logs for a newly created file right around the time of the crash.

To make it easier to read an don the eyes just upload the whole file using the attach image option and the file will usually be around 164k or so.

I saw someone do the math and 115% is technically 33% faster in game terms vs 110 killers. Playing Spririt then hopping back to Myers is jarring

I don't mean to sound rude but that math seems off.

It's not, you don't MOVE 33% faster, you CATCH UP 33% faster. A chase that would take 60 seconds with a 110 killer takes 115 killers only 40 seconds.

This is why 110 killers are dependent on their powers to shorten that gap.

Well it's also why 110 killers learn to optimize their pathing better and do chases and patrolling better.

Borrowed time activates in the terror radius, run perks that affect this or just get away from the hook.
Just wait out the 15 seconds endurance or just hit them twice.
Not to mention it literally just got nerfed...

Buffed, you mean. It now uses Deep Wound instead of Endurance.
So a survivor will never bleed out as long as you're chasing them AND they can heal themselves without Self-Care, allies or medkits.

So the killer can't do what Legions do now which is sit just outside the chase radius and wait then go in and smack them again.

Discord is technically bannable does it seem like the devs give a damn?

Discord isn't technically bannable and you know it and as added proof here, I even bolded the specific part where they clearly state they're not banning for the use of communication apps.

    OTHER HACKS
In-game report under Unsportsmanlike is MANDATORY
Using 3rd party software or other tools to gain any kind of unfair advantage that wasn’t intended by the game, except if they have been whitelisted by us. We are not banning for the use of communication apps.
In-game report REQUIRED / Customer Support ticket REQUIRED

As far as MLGA goes they're not actively hunting people down using it but it isn't approved by them and if EAC catches someone running it they can and will ban them. Any and all bans done by EAC WILL NOT BE OVERTURNED by the devs.

@SpaceCoconut Ignore all the people spouting off about the devs not caring as well as the people either running it or saying they run it. The ones running it that dc the moment they see you in game will eventually get banned because their list will get so big their dc rate will skyrocket.

Also once dedicated servers come MLGA will be pretty much useless since the dedicated server will host the player information. At which point the only way it'd work is if they cross a very big line and recode it to where it gets the information,

Then it becomes very easy to track and it's considered flat out hacking and or modifying game files at which point both eAC and BHVR will perma ban.

  • Here come the conspiracies again, it can't be that it's an optimization issue, bug(s), you're just looking for excuses, you're imagining things that aren't there etc.

The only thing i've noticed as a killer so far has been the sound issues especially on Spirit but I've simply adapted while they work on the fixes. Both sides are having to adapt right now to all the changes and the bugs etc.

It happens every patch when they do major updates and every patch the conspiracy theorists come out and every patch it's nothing intentionally done deviously.

  • What @purebalance is saying is accurate, the survivors can't simply bodyblock a killer without taking hits and or getting downed. In the case of EW Myers they can't body block him since the predictable outcome is EW III and having Myers hold M2 is a deflection.

If somehow the survivors found a way to body block a killer without taking hits it'd get hotfixed pretty quickly since that'd be an exploit. If you bodyblock someone so they can't move but take no other actions that's considered taking the game hostage.

@DwightsLifeMatters Again with the deflection, the killer has to hold M2 to not bodyblock so then they couldn't block the person to wait out BT. The issue is that the killer can boy block without the survivor having any recourse. The killer can simply M1 to get themselves unblocked and if they have an instant down EW III, exposed etc it's not an issue.

Is there any official stats about the rage quitting/dc culture? Something like the percentage of players who intentionally disconnected from a game in progress in the past 60 days more than once on average per day or gaming session ?

My best guess is that's between 10% and 35% but it would be nice to have some official stats on this.

Doesn't matter. I mean hell if you wanna ragequit without impunity you just need to [BAD WORD] on the first hook and apparently the mods on here claim it's fine and want to harass you about disagreeing about their "that's that" mentality.

The ban appeals from people rage quitting keep proving otherwise and you have to rage quit in a big % of your games in a short duration to get flagged. The mods have also never claimed it's ok to disconnect on the 1st hook and it's fine.

When you post something so blatantly untrue it calls into question whether anything you say can be believed anymore. They also don't harass you but if you cross the line into mental faculty type insults they will say something.

Camping isn't fun. It's not fun for the survivor, it's not fun for the killer. But neither are looping, DS, Flashlights, or completing all gens in 3 minutes.
But only camping gets so much hate.

All gens done in minutes is the most overused excuse still that needs to go away, it happens rarely especially after the BNP nerf. If all gens are being done in 3 minutes constantly that's on the killer not the survivors or the game mechanics.

Perks and addons have no correlation to camping, just as they no have correlation to looping.except as excuses for why they're done.

  • 360's have no relation at all to camping and are easily countered once you get adapted to them. The trick is don't lunge which is a bad habit learned form when you 1st start playing. You still click M1 (pc) but you don't hold it you aim downward and to your left or right. Which way you aim downward of course depends on which way the survivor tries to 360 you.

If done right the survivor will always 360 themselves right into your swing guaranteeing you a hit 100% of the time. The other neat trick you can do is to use your movement keys as well so for instance ASD are great for this since you can change your momentum.

You use A to basically moonwalk your swing into them on the left, S to move yourself backwards some if you're super close and D if they go right. It's very rare that you'll ever get successfully 360'd except by the super ones and even then you'll still usually get them.

Oh sure you might miss a few here and there but on average you'll have a 90+% success rate and the really good ones are the best. Because they're so sure of their skills that they'll keep trying it instead of looping you. You'll invariably get called hacker, lag switcher etc, etc by some but a lot will respect you for outdoing them..

If you're camping because someone 360'd you then need to get better at countering it because you just showed your lack of skill. They're like the loopers that you chase for 5 gens and camp, oh sure you sacrificed them but the other 3 made it out.

Follow the advice and simply destroy them easily and you'll find that they either keep trying thus giving you easy downs or they stop doing it. If they stop doing it that generally throws them completely off balance and they tend to screw up a lot.

In both cases you get easy hits and downs and can apply map pressure better and it's even funnier if you've got NOED or someone tea bagging you and you down them.

The devs have via a moderator said that editing files is done at your own risk so if you want to take that risk it's your choice. But you shouldn't go telling someone it's ok to do so unless you're willing to compensate them if they get banned.

Can u remind me how to disable V-Sync again? Exactly, the only way is by editing gameusersettings.ini
Some seem not to get how this file works. This file gets written and read on the fly by just changing the resolution ingame, changing mouse sensitivity etc.
U can even disable that this file gets written by windows so u have always the same settings after a restart.
On top of that, if u delete this file and let steam verify ur files it doesn't redownload it. In fact, this file get created by the first bootup of DbD, which just confirms that this file isn't important for EAC. But whatever, people will keep trashtalking just for the sake of arguing.
At the end it's ur decision OP, either go by logic or go by what people without knowledge keep talking

My computer has settings, my video card has settings, I can use my video card external software suites settings, and my monitor has settings. So apparently the only way isn't by editing the in game files.

So what you're doing is telling people that despite what the devs have said they can trust you a non dev about editing game files. You still haven't agreed to compensate each and every person who takes your advice however if they get banned.

If you're so knowledgeable making statements for a company you don't work for nor code for and don't know how EAC does things. You can't say that you know nothing will happen if you don't work for either company.

lol ppl are gonna start calling hooking or doing gens toxic

    We already do that.

Killers whine when survivors do gens too fast.

Survivors whine when another survivor farmed you right in front of the killer. According to some, killer should go after the unhooker not the other one.

I almost always as a killer go after the unhooker if it's an unsafe unhook because I know what it feels like to get screwed like that. I can usually find the unhooked person a lot of times anyways, especially if it's a swf because they'll stay around.

Well if you look at it as meters per second, it's 4.4 (110) and 4.6 (115). So if you move for 10 seconds there is a difference of 2m distance. It would take the slow killer roughly a half second extra to move the same distance.

My point here is that I'm just used to optimizing my path, and when you do that well with 115% movement you can more readily outplay survivors. Mistakes are also easier to recover from.

Agreed, I started out on Trapper and just learned how to path better and when on Spirit i still manage to do really well.
