I found this on another site...

    "Dear people of the fog.

A little over two years ago we regretfully made the decision to implement a feature into the game which has caused much upset and distress.

As a christmas present from the people at Behaviour to all of you, the players, we are pleased to announced that Survive With Friends will be pulled from the game effective immediately.

    Merry Christmas

    Team Behaviour

You don't actually want SWF to be removed......right? I understand the frustrations. Trust me, I play more killer than survivor, but why would you ever want to take away the option of playing this game online with friends? I enjoy playing survivor with friends and so do many others. Anyone who advocates for it to be removed is just immature and taking the game too seriously.

There is a mode called KYF fyi

There is indeed a mode called KYF that doesn't award blood points or Iridescent shards or Devotion levels just fyi.

But if you ant to drive away most of the player base then I'm sure you and the rest like you are willing to pay the difference in money BHVR will lose.

    Two words: Gen tapping.

    3 words: not an exploit

Now to ut it in context if someone's gen tapping to beat Ruin they're going to take forever to finish that gen and thus you as a good killer should have no problem getting them.

In fact you want to leave that person taking several minutes to finish that gen which allows you as a good killer to go after the non gen tappers.

If 1 person is gen tapping then it'll will take them at least 120 seconds to finish that gen aka 2 minutes versus a non gen tapper doing it in 40-80 seconds.

That's also assuming there's not another gen tapper there making it worse or a skill check doesn't pop up and blow the thing up.

Then throw in the good killer (you) patrolling said gens and kicking it thus regressing it before any perks like OverCharge etc get added in.

The idea is good in theory but then you have more things to pay attention to for both sides and it'd be a bigger advantage for survivors probably because then they'd know where not to run. You also don't want a heartbeat on the minimap since that's basically a mp wide bond beyond what even SWF has.

The map layout shouldn't be known beforehand because you have to explore it for both sides before you figure out exactly what tileset is on the maps, walls etc.

Didn't think of it that way really just trying to ways to balance the game on both sides.

All good, even the best laid plans of mice and men so to speak and realistically the only way to find problems is to expose your ideas to others.

But don't give up so easily, you've had issues identified now try and think of ways to overcome those issues and then test those fixes out to identify pros and cons again.

And what about the ones who simply just leave for any item? You don’t find that cheesy? , I don’t blame them a bit when you’ve been dodged 10 times in a row and that’s the only way to get a game and bring an item if that’s what you want, I’m just pointing out that if a survivor wants to bring an intended item into the game they can’t majority of the time so that’s the only way they can truly get use out of the items they spent bloodpoints for unless you punish the lobby dodgers, the killer shouldn’t be allowed to dictate who they face or what type of game they are about to have by cherry picking noobs  with low trophies and no items.

I understand that since killers say they don't like when survivors switch and want them to join with items in hand yet dodge the instant they see said items. But this way there'd be no excuses that something was last second switch.

If they start adding lobby queue timers for excessive dodging that would stop the lobby dodging for items since you can plainly see what items and toons are there and adjust accordingly with plenty of time.

Now before killers whine about it, you queued up knowing you might get 4 flashlights or 4 tool boxes etc and you have ways to counter that.

You can choose the most optimal killer and perks/addons and offering for each lobby you see, Franklins, Enduring, Iron Grasp, Sloppy Butcher, Mori's, UP etc etc etc.

Your personal bias versus my logic I think logic wins and yes i know it sucks when logic beats personal biases.

Thats no personal bias vs logic. I played both sides to rank 1 several times. Played almost exclusivly survivor for 2 months prior to the last event. Survivors killed me more than killers did. Or insulted more. Even before the match started.

Sure, survivors are more. But that´s not an excuse for how toxic survivor mains can be.

Just because you've played both sides ot rank 1 means nothing as you've pointed out countless times as far as bias goes. i'm referring to your comments for bias issues and look no further than some of the comments in the 1st 5 pages of this forum where you directly or indirectly bash/blame/insinuate survivors are the issue etc.

As I said go look at the person who's name is pretty obvious and change his name at the top of those posts where he's doing the same thing as you to killers. Then change your name to his where you're bashing survivors and it'll be quite obvious.

I just checked a YT video, it's space bar to pick up a trap. You should really check next time before making such comments. It would avoid these pointless back and forths.

Which is why I said i hadn't played Trapper in awhile as a notice that I might be wrong but thought I wasn't. But I'd still go with separate keys and options since perhaps the trap needs to be moved. If you only have the option of rearming it you limit yourself.

But again 2 traps carried should be base anyways.

    What is QA standing for?

Quality and Assurance and as @DocOctober mentioned it's not always there call and as someone who worked in that department as well as with them in high tech. You might decided something can't go but another department might feel it can go.

In this case it was probably not that big of a deal due to the sample size of both in house testing and PTB testing to see it going to be such a huge issue.

  • I haven't played Trapper in a bit but i'm pretty sure it's M1 to place but also M1 to pick up which is why I suggested M2 to rearm. For XBox perhaps keep it the same but add a combo of 2 buttons to rearm only.

    460 OP pls nerf!

When the killer is running backwards. Jump through a pallet or window ffs. Same counter as normal 360s have.

You're assuming there's a pallet or window there and Legion vaults faster, running Bamboozle well you're really screed then. Red Forest well nothing close by tough, Cornfield in the open well scusk tob e you.

Killer has to adapt. Once he does, it´s called exploid.

That's not adapting that's using a mechanic in a way that's detrimental to the game since it has no counter. Since it has not counter due to be an unintended use it's an exploit. the 360 as i pointed out has counters and thus isn't an exploit.

I call you biased, because you call me biased (sucks huh?)

Your personal bias versus my logic I think logic wins and yes i know it sucks when logic beats personal biases.

But i love you (deep down)

Same here, just in a non manly sort of way.

Agreed, say hold your other mouse button if pc to reset the trap that's already there but perhaps add 1 second to account for you not picking it up. It'd still be quicker than you picking it up and replacing it but slower than if it was an empty space.

It should just be whatever button you use to place the trap, since the game won't let you place a trap on top of another anyway. Just give a prompt to "reset" the trap.

The issue with that is you're given either the option to pick it up thus wasting it unless you're using a bag addon or it won't let you place it down. Which is why i suggested using the other unused key since that way you've got an option.

Perhaps you want to pick that trap up and move it to a better spots but if you auto rearm it you're screwed so this way you have a choice.

    Hex totems are HIGH RISK

You are funny! lol!, break hex totems It is the easiest thing to do in the game, it does not even have the difficulty of the skill check. Haunted Ground ? Please! just hide! and don be ochido. If you find dificult the game, try claudette p3 with urban evasion.

MY GOD. Hex totems needs rework.

You completely missed what I said, I don't have an issue with it either way but certain killers do regardless of the timer on the totem. I don't find the game difficult at all unless I'm facing a 5 blink Nurse that knows what they're doing.

  • @Dead_by_David said:

After the killer closes the hatch, the match ends.
It counts as a kill for the killer and death for the survivor. Seems about as fair as it is right now for the killer

You're not entitled to a 4th kill and need to get over that sense of entitlement, if you want that 4th kill slug the 3rd or hook them enar where the hatch will spawn. The killer has options right now but you don't want to use them and instead want a free kill.

  • I've had Billy's dc after I break the totem despite the fact they've sac'd 2 and there's only 1 gen done or 1 of the 2 is injured. The issue is you put all your bags in 1 basket and the basket broke so you rage quit. The same is true for NOED and DH, I've had killers rage quit the moment a hex totem is broken.

The funniest ones are the ones that rage quit when they hear the totem sound go off and it was their Haunted Ground totem. But because they only paid attention to the sound they assumed it's their Ruin so they quit.

Hex totems are HIGH RISK high reward and when they don't get destroyed not one of you comes here and complains about it. You've got no issues taking advantage of them when they stay up and you delay the game or get hooks and or sacrifices.

  • Agreed, say hold your other mouse button if pc to reset the trap that's already there but perhaps add 1 second to account for you not picking it up. It'd still be quicker than you picking it up and replacing it but slower than if it was an empty space.

  • I've always said it's should be a 10-15 second lockout timer after which no swapping is allowed so that gives the killer 5-10 seconds depending on which timer is used to choose.

The survivors get locked in and can't last second swap to brighter clothes/ all P3, items etc the killer has time to adjust if they need to. This way lobby dodging by killers because someone on the survivor side want so be cheesy is reduced.

Lobby times go smoother, everyone knows there's no hanky panky going to happen games start=profit.

  • @Dead_by_David said:
@powerbats I would actually like that as an alternative game mode. I think it would be refreshing for the game and would encourage more teamwork :D

But they have to implement the cosmetics or I will go on a miniature riot!

Fred with his Ascot and give the survivors aka the Mystery Inc gang Scooby Snacks they can find in treasure chests around the map. There'd be no chest type offerings allowed for either side or just give each person 1 snack.

The usage would be Scooby instead of running right to you when the killer finds him runs off and vaults a window location thus making noise. The game mode would have limitations on teims/perks and addons to make it fair.

But i think Bloodlust should be completely removed. It was a bandaid to solve the looping issue. But it´s doing a poor job. Non looping survivors get punished and looping survivors don´t get affected by it.

Make looping less viable and remove Bloodlust. I am all for that idea.

U'm all for that it needs to stay but not be as potent as it is and for Autohaven I think both blood Lodge and Gas haven need to have a tileset similar to oher other one.

Some more open areas in between piles but perhaps with a slightly higher wall here and there half height. You'd have to crouch to use them and may'be dart from one to the other when you think it's safe.

But agini many more open areas for killers to see you but also mind game possibilities galore for both sides with half height walls. Do you dare peek your head up and risk being seen or do you take the chance and leave that half height hidey spot?

  • @Dead_by_David said:
@powerbats Or a new game mode where the clues are placed in random locations around the map and if survivors find them all you unmask the monster as someone.

Or maybe the killer could place fake clues and the last survivors have to vote on the right answer to get the win?

Both of those options would be funny and with the 2nd one each survivor could vote on which clue they think is correct, the winners escape the losers get instant mori'd.

Wrong since 360 is easily countered which is why 360 isn't considered an exploit this isn't easily countered.

Neither are exploits. Both are just ways to play the game, which the devs haven´t thought about.

    Both can be countered.

BTW, nice survivor bias. Calling killer things exploits and survivor things easily counterable.

Nice bias really, is that all you can come up with? The devs have said it's not an intended game mechanic and it CAN'T BE COUNTERED. The 460 is also not an intended game mechanic but IT CAN BE COUNTERED.

Now see the difference both unintended game mechanics, 1 is counterable one isn't thus the one that isn't is an exploit.. Don't you just love logic, it can be your friend if you let it be. 😜

Oh and as I've stated many a time I've been killer these last few months and also I've been defending killers for quite some time like NOED and DH. You know telling people that want them removed to cleanse the totems?

But hey I'm obviously survivor biased because i defend killers from survivors calling for perk removal, but thanks for telling me I'm survivor biased. So if we go by your logic then obviously if I defend survivors I'm killer biased right?

One last dumb question then. Where can I find the logs?

It's not a dumb question since they're not always in the most convenient spot and depending on os version they're in different locations.

AppData/Local/DeadByDaylight/Saved/Logs for a newly created file right around the time of the crash.

    Note: that's Win 10 os 64 bit.

Also if you're depending on bloodlust to catch someone you'e playing poorly at that point since bloodlust is a crutch in the end. If bloodlust pops and you take advantage of it great, if it doesn't pop you play normally.

It's not about depending on Bloodlust, its the fact that you can lose bloodlust when you are right behind them thats just dumb as f. you would absolutely need bloodlust on extremely loopable spots btw

Well unless you lose los you won't lose bloodlust and losing los is the only thing survivors can really do to keep a killer from just nailing them. I would like to see some slight tweaks on bloodlust though perhaps the longer you've maintained it ie stage 2 it takes longer to decay.

For instance you get pallet slammed or just stop to break the pallet and say you're at bloodlust II, the pallet breaking should drop you to I. Then you should have 1-3 seconds to establish los again ie be close enough for it to count.

If you do then you don't decay out of tier I and instead keep it charging up towards tier II. This has many benefits, slower killers don't lose so much ground but also people won't tea bag or play so risky. Because they're going to want to get far far away.

  • @antgnstea said:

quick question about the logs. Many of the crashes I have don’t create crash logs. I stuck on loading screen when I click join a lobby or create a lobby and it goes to not responding phase. So I use task manager. Should I also look for crash logs for them?

Yes, there'll be a log saved even if it isn't a crash log per se so anything around that time helps.

  • Make sure you upload your crash logs and tag @MandyTalk with them since this is most likely to do with the Unreal Engine update.

They're aware of the issue and it affects not just DBD but other games and programmers using the engine so the more reports the more data they get.

  • @The_Crusader said:

The report system is worthless and you know it.

All of the I've been banned threads on here, Reddit, St4eam forums etc would say otherwise and @orion isn't defending it simply because it's killer sided. Since there's 4 survivors to one killer the chances of it being abused are higher on the survivor side.

Since it would only take 1 person in a lobby to dodge and thus screw the other 3 survivors over along with the killer. Once dedicated servers are out all info will be hosted server side and thus profiles of any kind won't be seen until you're in game.

At which point anyone that dodges will get flagged a lot quicker for basically rage quitting allowing their account to get caught much quicker .

  • @Someissues said:

    @AlexAnarchy said:

changing too TR would be beyond stupid as survivors will then abuse the Legions TR.

it would make Legion trash but it would fix the issue with other killers, survivors can cause the killer to lose bloodlust despite the killer is right behind them, its dumb as f

I've yet to see killers moonwalk to get out of a chase since it's much more effective to simply back off some and not lose los.

Also if you're depending on bloodlust to catch someone you'e playing poorly at that point since bloodlust is a crutch in the end. If bloodlust pops and you take advantage of it great, if it doesn't pop you play normally.

In the dev stream that i watched they said they are making killers that are fun not necessarily powerful. Fine, if that's the case remove the one thing ( DS ) or change it so that us killer mains get to have fun too. Since this last killer/DLC getting BMed at constantly, tea bagged, and squaded DS teams has increased for some reason.
If the devs really want to live up to the "fun" mentality REMOVE/CHANGE NOED & DS. I would happily give up noed if DS wasn't around. Things need to change or its going to push us 1k Plus hour people away.

The only Fun™ that matters is Survivors' fun. As long as the majority is having fun with the game, the developers don't give a damn.

The only fun that matters is your own personal fun is what you meant to say since you have no problem ruining their fun by hooking, camping and or sacrificing them using that mori etc. As long only you get to have fun you're happy entitlement is on full display.

Just under 1500 hours played and DS doesn't really bother me that much, and I've run into 4k hour players who just laugh at DS users. They actually comment afterwards they want you to bring DS since you just wasted a perk slot.

  • @Incarnate said:

You're assuming something here, because I never said or implied that, I even pointed something out that would imply that I think what I suggested in fix #1 and #2 would be the best fixes overall than the alternative. The reason I gave the alternative was IF they don't want to go with the suggested route of fixing it, which it seems like considering this is something that has been pointed out early on and that they've made statements that indicates they acknowledge this issue, and quite clearly have done nothing to fix it - so I suggested an alternative which is actually much harder , difficult and complicated to do, and will affect queue times detrimentally.

I'm not assuming or implying anything merely pointing out the issues that may arise if they went with the last option.

As i said they're aware of the issues but the problems aren't going to be easy ones to fix and they're going to take the slow approach now to avoid problems like with the Clown release and store launch as well as with the latest changes.

They stated this am that they intend to slow down the major releases but do updates more often but in smaller sizes to minimize disruptions.

To be fair there are some pretty glaring issues. I'm curious how they didn't know about the audio issues which really affect gameplay, or if they did know why they decided to just push it out anyway knowing that staff would be taking time off.

Guess they couldn't delay the dlc.

The audio probably didn't pop up often enough to be noticeable given the tester base sample size similar to how riot has bugs get out occasionally. The latest Unreal Engine update from what I've read is now getting lots of bug reports that go through testing.

There should be some updates this next week based upon what's been said and their past update process on major releases.

  • @The_Crusader said:
How do you prove something like this just out of curiosity?

I assume record it, but how much do you have to record before disconnecting? 5 minutes? 10 minutes? There's no telling how long a person could keep that up. It goes on for 40 mins there.

Well a recording is always good but a few minutes is probably sufficient and I believe @Peanits commented on this in another thread about it being understandable to dc and the timeframe.

They also have heat maps data etc so once the game gets reported they could easily verify the killer had the survivor blocked.

@BlackBugy submit the video to the following link and just follow the prompts and they'll take a look at it.

    https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

  • 3 gen Doctors are the worse and its more of a royal pain when it's a specific tile set since some are within 16 meters of each other or closer. As a survivor I try and pay close attention to gens so that it doesn't happen, especially versus a Myers.

As a killer i generally don't do it unless it's a well coordinated team and quite often when I get a 3 gen strat it's because that's how it turned out. I've gotten some salt over t and when I explain they did it to themselves it usually makes sense to them.

  • @Rebel_Raven said:

A few hundred points, and a pointless chaseout? They may not even let you hit them, or will try and juke and 360, and crap?
    Really? Lol

You said there was no incentive I gave you 2 reasons now you're moving the goalposts so to speak. You want them out yet don't want to do what it takes to make them get out. Yet complain when you let them stand there dong what annoys you because you don't want to make them get out.

So because they might not let you hit them means you're just going to let them stand there so you can complain about it why ? For 360's they're very easy to counter and once you do they'll get out very quickly.

So survivors can get their rocks off?

Yes because survivors want to get their rocks off every time perhaps it's been a good match and they just want to give you some extra points.

And be encouraged to do it again, and again?

You're encouraging them to do it again and again by not forcing them out, disconnect well congrats you just rewarded them so they know to do it again. Refuse to enter the gate and chase them out well now they know to do it again if they're doing it to frustrate you.

Nope. Not worth giving it to them. At all. Unless the game was interesting,  I'd rather start up a youtube vid, or hit the forums.
Yeah, that's right, they need to earn it by making it a fun game for me. If they don't, fuckem. Can't be arsed.

So 1 act of childishness deserves another? How hard is it to man up and just go smack them out of the gate instead of wasting however long it takes for them to go out?

    The biggest issue i

s how safe survivors are, their abuse of it, and the immense anticlimactic ending.

If they're at the gate waiting, there's no satisfaction for the killer.
    None.
Most of us know there is not a damn thing we can do to prevent the escape.

The satisfaction comes from smacking them out of the gate and if all 4 are there well you lost plain and simple. Be a man own it and move onto the next game. Also if they're super cocky you can actually hook them because they stay too close to the opening and not the exit.

Maybe if it was during a preexisting chase, or something where the killer had a realistic chance of downing a survivor, I could see it.
But with current gate mechanics? And them waiting? Lol

So again chase them out and end the game, if I were the entity and you cowarered there not chasing them out or trying to hit them I'd take way your killer rights.

Using rancor with Nurse, or spirit, teleporting in behind them, hitting the obsession, and mori? Sure.
Maybe a lucky hatchet upside their nugget? Sure.

Any or all of the above, survivors you've already killed lessens their chances if they gt downed, NOED, DH, Myers, Billy, Bubba.

I don't really do leatherface, or hillbilly, but hey, instadown chainsaw. Mild chance.

Well for those that play them the chainsaw is a high chance of getting a down.

Myers with the standing mori? Sure.

    You said it yourself.

But anyone with a half decent talent will know to run, aside from vs Nurse or spirit who can realistically surprise someone.

Well they'll run and leave problem solved, if you're good with Billy/Bubba or have Myers they'll definitely leave.

The [BAD WORD] is legion realistically going to do? Or trapper? Or hag? Or doctor?

Oh I don't know they can smack them and make them leave, you know what killers can and do all the time.

Escape is the entire point of the survivors experience.

Well yeah that's what they're supposed to do is escape not just stand by the nearest hook and say take me I'm yours.

Just as the killers is to sacrifice the survivors not say I'm just going to go admire the foliage while you do gens.

The ritual of the chaseout means fuckall for the killer.

It means they leave the game and you get to move onto the next one, I don't see you complaining about when you down them or when you camp them.

    So why don't they escape?

Fort eh reasons said above, may'be they want to give you some extra bp, may'be it's to let you know you didn't gt them, may'be it's any reason. If they're doing it to be jerks well congrats you're feeding said jerks because you don't want to take the 5 seconds or so walking into the exit gate and whacking them.,

Actually that's incorrect since some software suites will override in game ini settings for video. I do it all the time for my games with my Nvidia stuff.

Have you tried to overwrite the fps lock in dbd with nvidea settings? Does it work? Do you have more then 62 fps then without changing files?

I've never tried going over the 60 fps due to my video card being older DBD wise but for other games i've done it before with no issues.

That mail is from 2017, things have changed since then.
and even if EAC has no tools to detect it, BHVR can still forbid it in the TOS

Thank you, I can't remember who posted it a few months back the email they'd gotten which said they don't actively scan for it but f the system bans you for it they won't overturn it.

Imagine purchasing a product and expecting it to work, thats so 1999

Imagine purchasing a software product and not expecting that whenever an update is pushed out there won't be problems. It's almost like recalls don't happen in real life on everyday things like automobiles that've been
    around far longer than DBD.

I'm sure you go bash every software or product developer out there with the same passion you do here every time there's a bug or issue right?

No I only bash BHVR like this because they have no QA

Cough EA cough, Bethesda cough, Blizzard cough the list goes on but don't let actual facts get in the way of your biased narrative.

Yeah, none of those things will turn off vsync if it is set to true and/or FrameRateLimit is set to =0 in the .ini

They need to address the reasons why people DC first.

Lag is a major issue. Looking at the ping doesn't always work. I've had games where the ping looks fine yet I end up getting teleported all over in game. Whats the point in staying in a game like that?

And then there's the farming. Trolls who pull people off hooks instantly. That always gets a lot of DC's I've noticed. I don't blame people for disconnecting if they get intentionally farmed.

Yeah getting farmed by a WGLF troll is really annoying and killers ping is fine but one survivor starts skipping across the map or lagging everyone out or the killer does. Hopefully once the dedicated servers come out it'll be a lot smoother.

Agreed. Wish they would do something to fix how stupidly safe the area around the gate and hatch are.
They know they're safe there, and that's why they do it.
There's basically zero incentive for a killer to do anything at that point unless they have NOED, or a one hit down power.

Put them in danger of losing and they will bounce quicker to avoid it.

Yes because you can't go smack them out of said gate to gt them to exit while also getting some extra points. That's 2 incentives for you to chase them out the exit gate.

You really start to tunnel me?
Just because you think I'm biased?

Meh, the devs probably simply forgot to appoint some changes. But those are still shadow nerfs. Nothing evil behind it. Or malice. Just bad memory. Like when they gave us surveillance. Thinking that a killer could hit 3 gens in 16 seconds...

I'm not following you around aka tunneling you since I'm just scrolling down the list on each page and posting. As for being biased yes, that's pretty obvious if you go back and look at how you always bash or insulate it's the survivors fault.

You can't see it because it's basically 2nd nature to you but others have tried pointing it out as well yet you might not even be aware you're doing it. If you read your comments to some of the heavily biased survivors players then swapped heir names for your and looked at your that way you'd see.

Have BHVR shadownefed in the past? If they don't have a history of doing it, then its probably worth reporting.

Sadly they have a long history of shadow nerfs.

Yes because everything is always done on purpose and not as is often the case an unintended change like they've announced when they fixed things.

  • @Master said:

    Please.

even the devs admitted that it is broken in its current state.
Oh and btw the survivors maneuvering themselves into a 3 gen strat is equal to DS? K bro

Where again did they ever say it was broken and not instead what they've reiterated countless times which is they want to adjust it.
