We're probably stuck with a broken game as our Christmas present

Not even a dev stream today

  • The entitled millennial inside you really shines man.

  • I'd just be happy if my game stopped crashing for once so I  can actually play
  • It's just the audio that bugs me.

Hopefully if anything is learned from this it's don't put out a major engine update just before everyone goes on holiday :p

Oh I didn't realize it was wrong of me to assume the game I paid money for is supposed to be working properly. How entitled of me!.

  • Not even a dev stream today

Mathieu ran last time, give him some respect. Things change- they’ll most likely be back up and running once the holidays are over.
  • There was a blog though. They said that the audio issues was one of the top priorities to be fixed.
    ...
    ..for next year.
    siiiiiigh

Imagine purchasing a software product and not expecting that whenever an update is pushed out there won't be problems. It's almost like recalls don't happen in real life on everyday things like automobiles that've been
    around far longer than DBD.

I'm sure you go bash every software or product developer out there with the same passion you do here every time there's a bug or issue right?

No I only bash BHVR like this because they have no QA

  • Remember people get new games for Christmas and ignore this game for a few months then check back in

Cough EA cough, Bethesda cough, Blizzard cough the list goes on but don't let actual facts get in the way of your biased narrative.

I bash bethesda too, you got a point
blizz and ea have QA at least (from my experience), fallout and DBD are a joke in that respect sadly

EA is the worst although Blizzard and Bethesda aren't far behind considering their size and the amount of money they've got. I can still remember Blizzards major screw up with the Undead Invasion patch.and how they released it even after being told how many bad things were there.

  • "We", well speak for yourself.

To be fair there are some pretty glaring issues. I'm curious how they didn't know about the audio issues which really affect gameplay, or if they did know why they decided to just push it out anyway knowing that staff would be taking time off.

Guess they couldn't delay the dlc.
  • The audio is making me just not want to play, and that makes me pretty sad. Playing killer is pointless without being able to hear footsteps. The FPS, balance changes, all that stuff im not bothered about, issues that have always been part of the game im happy to wait for. Survivors no longer have footsteps.

The audio probably didn't pop up often enough to be noticeable given the tester base sample size similar to how riot has bugs get out occasionally. The latest Unreal Engine update from what I've read is now getting lots of bug reports that go through testing.

There should be some updates this next week based upon what's been said and their past update process on major releases.

Hopefully you're right. I assumed there wouldn't be any for a while but yeah if they could just balance the essentials in terms of audio that would be great.

They do have a QA team and they are very nice people. However, the QA does not have the final word in what goes into a Patch and what doesn't. Their job is to test the game and find bugs. It's usually not their job to fix them or to decide what gets priority over other stuff.

    What is QA standing for?

Quality and Assurance and as @DocOctober mentioned it's not always there call and as someone who worked in that department as well as with them in high tech. You might decided something can't go but another department might feel it can go.

In this case it was probably not that big of a deal due to the sample size of both in house testing and PTB testing to see it going to be such a huge issue.

  • Blizzard sure has Q&As. Haven't you heard? Don't you guys have phones? Or what?
