  • It sounds like they could be looking into basic gameplay balance?

  • I'm probably about 50/50. I've been a red rank killer & a purple rank survivor--I like the feeling of acheivement that comes with good survivor plays, but killer is less stressful & a good way to get bloodpoints.

"Killer is like a cakewalk compared to survivors. The time pressure is a little pressuring, but if you don't get kills it's at least not frustration"

If you actually played killer at rank 1 you'd know ridiculously wrong this statement is.

"it's nothing compared to the Baptism of Fire noob survivors go through, and how even veteran survivors at low ranks struggle"

This is inaccurate and not a fair comparison. Even if your team is complete idiots and literally does absolutely nothing you can still quite easily pip if you are good. You may die, but you WILL pip and that gets you to higher ranks where your team gets better. If the survivor still isn't pipping then they aren't as good as they think they are. Veteran survivors can struggle to CARRY the whole game and win at low ranks, but they will absolutely pip and move out of those terrible ranks.

The reason these aren't fair comparison is because for survivors the difficulty is your team being dumb and being new to the game. This is something that can be fixed as they get better at the game and is a reflection of their own skill.

For killers you are losing because the game isn't balanced for rank 1. You could play perfectly and unless they play poorly you still lose. That is the difference. One is based on your skill and something you can fix, while the other is out of your control. Losing a game that you would play no differently if you could do it all over IS frustrating, especially when you throw a bunch of tbags, flashlight flicks and trash talkers in to top it all off.

'Try at red ranks' is true, at purple and red ranks, killer is difficult and stressful--but at all ranks prior to about rank 10, killer is EZ mode and a halfway decent killer can end a lot of matches with 4ks with minimal sweat.

I can't figure out why anyone wants the unmasked skins. Frankly I'm more excited for that neon skin coming soon

Personally I want them because they'll mess with survivor's heads even more. I get mistaken as a survivor a lot as it is.

  • @NoShinyPony said:

If you are annoyed that much by your teammates, put your focus on ranking up so that you can get matched with better randoms. Or play SWF.

If you "just started playing survivor" you are probably playing at rank 20-15. It is normal that your random teammates are inexperienced and have problems with Ruin etc.

Also, I'm surprised that you encounter Ruin every match at these ranks, and BBQ, NOED, Nurse.

I've personally seen it a lot, too. It can be really discouraging when you're a new survivor to run into a full loadout like it. My first match of survivor when I bought the game for PS4 was a nurse with Ruin & BBQ/Chili that had everyone on my team on hooks in like two minutes. I hadn't even gotten the chance to touch a generator. It was even a CONSOLE nurse, so you know they deranked just to whip new survivor ass.

Anyway, @ThatGuyFromThatPlace has a lot of valid points in his post. People that are automatically running in and saying, 'you're wrong!' need to stop shitting on every opinion that dissents from their own, especially because between the ranks of 20 - 10, Ruin & NOED actually ARE a serious issue that ruin the gameplay experience.

I've been a red rank killer & a purple rank survivor, so I can see the argument that past the starter ranks, they're a joke--but for most of the DBD playerbase, they're ridiculously unfun to play against, especially as a solo survivor. Teammates at 20 - 10 don't know how to hit hex skill checks, they don't know how to play against BBQ & Chili, and they're ALREADY struggling to get all of the generators done in most matches, so there's really not enough time to go through the map and break totems to avoid NOED--which is something that most killers in those ranks have.

Camping is also a serious issue in those ranks, which also ruins the gameplay experience on top of all of those other things & makes it so survivors can't even learn how to play better against those other things because almost every match has a camping killer that prevents one or two members from the team from doing anything all match & prevents the remaining survivors from doing anything but gen rushing. It sucks. Killers who camp the hook suck. Like honestly, really, suck at the game and are never going to improve because they load up a match & spend 95% of it standing in place doing nothing.

  • I hate playing against Hillbillys for exactly the reason that you outlined: the BBQ & Chili snowball effect. It might not be as big of an issue in purple & red ranks? But in every other rank, if you get a Hillbilly, you know your team is going to be wiped out.

  • I want an unmasked Frank pretty bad, tbh. Would pay real money.

  • It's not really that bad. I run into it almost every game that I play killer, but it isn't really that awful to play against.

  • Yeah, I keep running into this issue where I'll be chasing Claudettes in brown shirts and they'll just straight up disappear. It's not even a juke, they're just crouched somewhere in the dark and are almost impossible to see on console (and yes, I did up my brightness, but since the last few updates everything has been dark & blurry as hell), especially while trying to manage time.

    It's ridiculous, honestly.

    Hey Killers,

This is the survivor forum. There is a killer forum for you all to comment all you want. Not sure why you feel the need to troll our discussions regarding issues we face such as end game, hatch and exit gate distances.

Lol, what? It's for survivor-based topics, it's not a forum for just survivor players to post in. Plus, uh, we all play survivor too?

Also, the exit gates are a third chance to escape, that's one more than survivors had before and there's no hatch standoffs to worry about??

  • Saves from hatch standoffs & gives the killer points for opening the door & closing the hatch. I kind of like it from a killer POV. I haven't played survivor yet, but I always hated having to search for the hatch as a survivor, to the point where I usually just gave up and stood under a hook, so.

& Camping with NOED has always been a thing.

  • As a killer, I like endgame collapse, but it makes me feel legitimately bad? Because it feels like there's not a lot of hope for the survivor that's leftover. & I haven't played survivor with EGC yet, but it looks like it's kind of difficult.

On the plus side, I love that it keeps you from having to watch survivors t-bag at the exit gates. Whenever I know they're going to do that, I go & wait where I can't see them and see if they'll actually remember to leave before the timer runs out. Feelsgoodman.

  • New Legion is great if you're used to playing it in the way that it was meant to be played. But if you just followed behind survivors hitting them until their deep wounds timer ran out, then I don't know what to tell you. Play in a less cheese way?

  • @Milo said:

@mintchapstick same! But i feel that some add-ons are useless tho. (read half of the purple add-ons and pins still feel meh)

Oh yeah, I agree with that. I should clarify my previous statement: I was in red ranks for a while, using Legion with the intended playstyle, while also not using any add-ons. I don't really use add-ons for any killers, it kind of messes up my muscle memory.

  • Hahah, I was red ranks with Legion for a while. The changes to Legion support my playstyle with the character, and have only made him easier to play for me, personally. 115% movement speed and a longer frenzy timer is a blessing.

The new Frenzy is actually kind of great, too, because you might move slower but it means your camera isn't whipping around and you're not as easy to juke while using it.

  • Yeah, I do, if I'm not really feeling taking things seriously. I'll usually play Legion & use BBQ & Chili.

Does that mean we should go through every killer and give them wacky little passives?

Oh here lets give the clown a clown car and a red nose, because as you put it "He is just a clown after all".

I'm down for wacky passives, tbh. I think that would make things much more interesting.

  • I love Claudettes because they think the killer is blind & will crouch/hide in stupid places.

  • What is the Spirit situation?

ok so a 4 man urban team that's gen rushing because they can just hide and I finely get one and want to lure them out is on me as camping when in reality the games boring because they are just trying to depip everyone so to peeling the game il do minor camp patrolling so to catch them off guard and get a few points

Camping someone on a team of people who are gen-rushing is the exact opposite of how to approach that situation. The best way to deal with the scenario that you're describing is to use BBQ&Chili.

  • Hillbilly: Gently tap survivors with your chainsaw to confuse and irritate them. Stuns killer for 5 seconds upon use.

I play 50/50 and yes killers may need some buffs but there is a ton of useless complaints from killers that I see. Sometimes I think killers think that survivors are unstoppable for some odd reason. The reason you see a lot of what you see on the forum too is this forum is very killer bias'd

Tbf, they can be unstoppable sometimes. I'm a decent killer and if survivors are in a coordinated 4-stack, you have almost no real power in the match. You might as well just stare at a wall for the next three minutes.

Anyway, I play both sides, but when I was a survivor main, it seriously felt like any opinion that I posted that wasn't in support of the popular killer main opinion at the time got run into the ground and made half the forum pick a fight with me, so I kind of get it.

  • @Mat_Sella said:

I play mostly survivor, and i think that's a bit extreme. I totally would deserve to die if i did not get 2 gens done in the time it took for the other 3 to die.

But maybe this isn't about completing gens, but more about everyone DC'ing and abandoning the last player

This is actually totally possible. With the amount of D/Cs that the game gets, it's like the only thing they can do to help the people who don't D/C. But boy, does it suck for killers.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/425954#Comment_425954

Having it fully charge is stupid, and yeah I also especially hate that if you miss then it completely waste your power.

Legion was at best design to be easy for the killers who already play the game. Because a lot of the mechanics on Legion are nice and simple. Plus he doesn't punish you for missing, just try again.

But this new change almost kinda makes him like a half breed of Nurse and Plague. In terms of why nurse? Well we all know that to use Nurse effectively, you need to be accurate with her blink and predict where are they going. Missing a blink punishes you with a fatigue time, and no momemtum.

This New Legion rework is kinda the same because if you miss, you get no momentum and get punished for missing.

Also I added Plague there because of what you said earlier. His frenzy is good at getting people on the injured state to follow it up with a regular hit.

Plague is similar, vomiting on survivors to break then and then following it up with a hit, or lethal vomit.

This new update will make Legion in many ways weaker than Plague. While still high tier because hello, is guaranteed damage. He now in a sense requires more skill. Which on one side isn't bad, but at the same time it is because the original spirit of this killer is broken. So yeah.

Yeah, agreed about the nurse thing--which means that he's going to be another killer that's incredibly difficult to play on console. It's really frigging hard to hit people while you're in a frenzy on console as it is. It's extremely easy for survivors to just side step as your camera whips around wildly.

  • The way that I play Legion already more or less lines up to the way that they're trying to make him be played. I run into a group, stab the crap out of people, then m1 someone the second time to get them down. I've always found it faster to get one m1 in than to follow them and keep stabbing with deep wounds until they fall, and I'm very impatient.

But with that being said, the changes to the frenzy are stupid. Like... You have to have it all the way charged to activate it? Why? If it can't deal extra deep wound damage, why would you have to have it fully charged to activate it?

& I hate, hate, hate, hate, the idea of missing a shot ending your frenzy. It's a FRENZY. & the ability to miss a shot without cooldown is what makes frenzy unique.

  • > What is the logic behind a missed attack in frenzy ending the frenzy? Have you considered how this will affect players on console (it's already almost impossible to hit survivors in a frenzy on console)? Or that it doesn't thematically make sense with the idea of a "frenzy?"

I don't really care about most of the changes, but this one IMO ruins the experience & fun of playing Legion entirely. Literally the only fun part about playing them is running into a group of survivors and slashing around wildly--in, you know, a frenzy. & there being no cooldown after a missed frenzy attack is what makes the frenzy ability unique.

I've not frozen at all. Not in a long time. I've only frozen maybe 3-5 times in over a year of playing.

I've had no performance issues since 2.6. The engine update to 4.21 was great. The game has never ran better for me.

Huh. What kind of PS4 do you have? Because up until the recent patches, I had never frozen, but now I freeze all the time. I picked up a survivor off of a gen the other day and froze in place and had to d/c.

  • @Kagrenac said:

Someone got crushed by one of the worst killers using one of the most counterable perks in the game

It could have been a Hillbilly using it. Hillbilly with BBQ &Chili is terrifying as a survivor. You're chilling out and you hear the chainsaw motorcycle zooming to you.

  • @Coriander said:

You can die faster, you don't have to DC.

I'm assuming they're a person who slugs the third person to find the 4th, so all the third person can do is lay bleeding out, or disconnect.

  • You're getting better performance? Since the last two patches, mine will randomly freeze & crash. It never used to do that before.

  • I'm hyped for Ash.

Though I do have to say, that things like Ash's perks/addition makes me wish that survivors had survivor-specific abilities. Like, it's badass if Ash the Character runs in and saves someone from the dying state, it's less badass if it's an army of P3 Claudettes doing it.

  • I was against the idea of Evil Dead being added in, because I love Ash and my favorite movie Evil Dead movie is Army of Darkness, so I have a hard time thinking of Ash as a gen jockey or something, but I could see him being more of a David King, run in and save people role.

So yeah, pretty hyped about it.

Not gonna lie....the fact that this game has some of the most iconic horror killers to ever touch a big screen is nothing short of amazing and separates it from all other games that try to copy the style. And to be honest with the success this game has, the the titanic fan base that it has, they should monopolize on that concept by adding more. There's literally nothing else like it on the market. And while their unique killers are great.....theres just something extra special about knowing Amanda, Michael myers, Leatherface, and Freddy Kruger could exist in 1 game is nothing short of remarkable. Just imagine if there were more! Ghostface, The Nun, Chucky, Pinhead, The Grudge, IT the clown, Pumpkinhead, Creature from the black lagoon, I mean the list could go on for hours but theres a plethora of iconic movie monsters to pick from. ######### if I was some horror movie director it'd be a huge honor to have my character in this game, that means that your movie stands concrete for generations to come as one of the most iconic horror villains of all time! Imagine that....Michael Myers right now has more clout than his rival Jason Vorhees. Amanda Young and the legacy of Jigsaw can never be forgotten. Leatherface is no longer just some old slasher horror that you can just forget about, he is an Icon now, cemented in this player base and transcending generational movie barriers! And no matter how critical reviewers were of the last Freddy movie, this game still stands as one of the best ways to get behind the wheel of freddy and do the carnage from his view. (Although, I am hoping the skill rework expands upon his concepts in the dream world even more, him shapeshifting or suddenly having arms as long as a bus in the dream world are really iconic to his powers)

?? Leatherface has always been an icon, DBD didn't make him one. I literally have a t-shirt with Leatherface's silhouette on it, in his iconic, chainsaw over the head pose.

  • Survivor:

    Bond & Urban Invasion.

Bond is great for sidestepping survivors who are being chased.

Urban Invasion is game-changing. My survival rate skyrockets with it.

    Killers:

Bloodhound - I'm really awful at tracking and the distance from my couch to my tv makes it hard for me to see the bloodspots without my glasses. I run bloodhound on almost all of my killers.

  • Adam. I hate Adam's hair, and I hate his cosmetics. They're so cruel to him. He could have been way better designed. Not all hi-top fades have to be so bad! I know they wanted to do an 80s vibe with him (and he is very 80s, they achieved that), but goddamn. You can do both.

  • I have no idea, matchmaking has been weird as hell for me. When I play survivor (rank 12), I get mostly rank 19/18 killers. But when I play killer (rank 12), I get mostly purple/red rank survivors?

  • NOED should be reworked, honestly.

It sucks to be on the survivor side of NOED, and as a killer, I have literally zero interest in running NOED because it's useless most of the time--you down one unlucky bastard in one hit, and everyone else runs out the door, or you down someone and stand next to their hook and try to down whoever comes to save them. Boring and unsportsmanlike. It's like shooting fish in a barrel.

If survivors finished all their gens, I just want them to go.

    1. Hillbilly - top hated killer for me.
    2. Doc - RIP my FPS, especially on PS4
    3. Wraith - most people just cloak and stand next to the hook
    4. Myers - too many people just stand in front of the hook with him
    5. Trapper - I play solo survivor and my teammates are usually idiots.

I don't dislike playing against Legion, tbh. You can really feel the 110% movement speed.

  • Or they've played killer enough to know the frustrations of Freddy.

  • @Bongbingbing said:

It's how the game's designed 😐️ I Love playing Killer but I have to agree, It's pretty stressful sometimes especially if your not playing the top 3 Killers. Killer's just have so much to manage and you have to stay pretty focused.

I usually have to take brakes from the game because It stops being fun at a certain point or I get Burnt out, but I still always come back.

If killer was easier I think It might ruin the fun for survivors, Just Look at legion. Part of me wants to buy Legion and just play him constantly since he doesn't require so much effort but he does kind of ruin the game in terms of fun for the other side.

Just as an FYI Legion actually does require effort. If you aren't moonwalking or using Frank's Tapes, he can actually be a frustrating killer: he's 110% speed with barely any map pressure. People say that Legion is a braindead killer that doesn't require effort, but he's actually one of the weaker killers on the list, so, you know.

  • What. DS is literally the definition of this.

  • Bright hair Feng & Bright hair Nea = DS, going to chase killer around & bodyblock

Plaid Skirt Nea - Inoffensive, trying her hardest to not be seen while being a good teammate.

Claudettes with the green shirt/brown pants = Going to be the biggest pains in the ass in the match

Megs with expensive cosmetics = DS

Default Dwight Skin - I'm going to end up accidentally tunneling them because they'll keep accidentally running into me over and over again, when I'm not even looking for them. GO AWAY, DWIGHT, I DIDN'T WANT YOU.

Pizza Boy Dwight - Has 500+ hours into the game, probably not worth trying to chase

  • She has The Plague, which includes: blackened skin, pustules, and vomiting--hence her character design & power.

  • Middle Eastern people come in a lot of different colors. We typically think of people with olive skin and dark hair/eyes, but there's people from the Middle East who are black, or people with light eyes & paler skin. There's even people who have blond hair?

  • What is the lunge thing? I've never heard of that?

  • Someone messaged me to call me a camper (after the exit gates were powered) and then told me that they were reporting me for being an AFK killer all match.

Like, okay, did I down you & camp you and slash up all your friends when they came to save you, or was I AFK? You have to pick one, you can't have both.

  • As a killer, I actually kind of like the new matchmaking. It brings up a variety of skill levels & keeps things interesting.

  • This has got to be a troll post.
